A woman can show up to work with bared, hairy legs, but depending on where you work and who you work with, there's a good chance that "not a team player" will get written down in your performance review. Now guess who's first on the chopping block when layoffs come around? Like, you are right that women should be able to do this, but the woman was also right in not taking the suggestion or treating it as a joke. If you don't have a safety net or adequate resources for a legal battle, then this IS a joke suggestion.
do you ever hear people talking about something and you’re like. fuck. let me be real for a second. i’m too much of a commie to have this conversation

Ya'll remember some people are both readers and writers, right?
I have a question for the fanfic writers among you: How do you treat your work in progress when a very similar story is put out there? Do you go on writing - in the spirit that everything is unique in its own way - or do you abandon the piece - in the spirit of preventing 'superfluous' contributions?
Let's add a further wrench into the process by saying the recently published work by another author, so similar to your own, seems so much better written than your own (granted we are always our own worst critics). Where do you go with that?
Maybe this is a question for readers, too. Do you mind reading similar works/story lines?

The baffling thing to me is have these people never ridden in a car? All the instability that would come from trying to write on a desk or store things on a land vehicle not only applies to a ship but is exponentially worse.
my biggest pet peeve in the world is when landlubbers design cool fantasy pirate cabins but completely forget that they’re on a fucking boat. yeah here’s a loose shelf with 50 glass bottles of rum on the top shelf. no there isn’t any sort of guard on the edge. “yeah sorry cap’n we hit One Wave a little weird and every single glass item you own crashed into the ground at once”

That said, social media attention comes and goes. If you know a local reporter or journalist, either send them this tip or ask for who to send it to. Call your Congressional representatives and ask them to say his name in Congress. Randos on the Internet are not the kind of popular attention dictatorial regimes care about; political figures are.
The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.
Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”

In addition to the above suggestion for blocking specific tags, if you find yourself frequently being recommended posts about content or topics that you do not like, you can fix that, too:
Settings --> Account Settings --> Dashboard; scroll down to Preferences and you'll see this:
Tumblr media
Then instead of having to block everything you don't like, you'll only get content from blogs and tags that you do like.
Tumblr just put a fcuking harry potter post on my feed as a "recommendation based on your likes"
Why not recommend me smallpox next. Or arthritis maybe.

Ok so we all love a hyperfixation but does anyone else ever avoid certain things because you feel like you don’t have the time to be fixated on that, or that you aren’t in the right headspace for this to become your latest obsession

Why do we try to act like Antisemitism is an exclusive foible of the political Right, anyway? Buddy, I have witnessed the ideological intersection of “kill the bourgeoisie” and “Jews control the banks and media” - it’s not a pretty picture!

The results of this poll would probably look different if:
a.) you mentioned that "smoking" can mean "smoking anything"; a lot of people view the word in isolation as only meaning tobacco, so even if they get high on weed or crack every day they would say they never smoked because they never smoked tobacco
or, if you were only interested in tobacco:
b.) If you said that "smoking" can also include vaping.

That one scene from Prince of Egypt. The little quiet moment when Moses is about to leave his new home to fulfill his duty, but pauses at the door of the tent to look at his sleeping wife, and turn back to go give her a kiss before leaving. That's the first time I saw what love is supposed to look like. I didn't see it at home. My parents hated each other, and the life they built together.
My baby daughter is almost six months old now. She's started waking up quietly sometimes now, she'll be laying there in her own bed making her content little quacking noises instead of going into full foghorn screech of rage as soon as she regains consciousness. I can get up and go to her without waking up her mother. And pause for a moment to give her a little kiss before leaving the bed.
It never crossed my mind as a kid that this was ever an option. That life could look like that for real.

We're back for 2024!
Teen Wolf AU Fest is an open collection prompt fest that will take place over five weeks, starting in the first week of May.
This fest will be similar to fests like Flufftober or Kinktober in that anyone can participate as little or as much as they want. Instead of daily prompts, however, there will be two weekly prompts to choose from. For 2024, these prompts will be beings and places. We're also introducing bonus prompts for genre.
FAQ
This is a low-key, participate as-you-wish fest. You can create something for all five weeks or just for one.
The prompts will be posted weekly through the Tumblr fest blog (@twaufest). At least one of the weekly prompts should be incorporated in the work.
There will be two prompts per week. You can use one or both of them. There will also be a bonus genre prompt, if you wish to also include that.
You can create one work using just one of the weekly prompts, or create one work with both prompts, or create two works using one prompts for each work.
All ships are welcome (or lack thereof).
All types of transformative fanworks are welcome.
Your work can be shared in the AO3 collection (twaufest24) and/or on Tumblr by tagging @twaufest.
Rules
AU works only. Since this is an AU fest, all works must be AUs. They can be human-AUs, supernatural AUs, or any other type of AU. But they cannot be fully canon or just canon divergent.
Tag your works. Fics must be tagged appropriately. Please tag for major content warnings and other common warnings/triggers.
At least one of the weekly prompts must be used in your work for that week.
Late submissions are accepted while the fest is ongoing. The collection will close a week or two after the fest is over for the year. If I run this fest again next year, I’ll reopen the collection at that time.
If you are participating as a reader, please practice good fandom etiquette. If you don’t like a work or a particular ship, don’t read it or use the back button. All TW ships and all types of transformative fandom works are welcome.
2024 Teen Wolf AU Prompts
For 2024, the prompts will be beings/places. There will also be a bonus genre each week, if you should so choose to use it.
Week 1: Dragons and/or Resort (Bonus Genre: Thriller)
Week 2: Ancient Gods and/or Yarn Shop (Bonus Genre: Cozy)
Week 3: Gnomes and/or Grocery Store (Bonus Genre: Mystery)
Week 4: Superheroes and/or Car Wash (Bonus Genre: Bodice Ripper)
Week 5: Aliens and/or An Office (Bonus Genre: Comedy)
Your mods this year are @manixzen, @kellerific-writing, and @paxere. Feel free to drop us any questions in the Tumblr ask box!

when I see something dated 2019 I think “oh that’s not too long ago” and then I remember that 2019 was not only five years ago but those five years have somehow contained several lifetimes
