Finally watched Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender. I can't say I'm impressed by the bending forms and the acrobatics, but that's the limitations of live action. Less dynamic action. The Ocean Spirit possessing Aang was waaay less epic in this version for sure.

The acting is a little stiff. Sokka's actor is easily the best of team Avatar. He's a delight. Zuko's actor is great too.

Story wise, they skipped a lot, but I do like that they expanded on:

Aang's life before he got frozen in the ice.

The Fire Nation citizens who wanted to assassinate Ozai was a nice touch. (RIP Osric Chau, you had less than 5 minutes of screen time. ;_;)

Suki having a mother, and wanting to see the world. (Suki and Sokka's interactions were stiff as fuck though. Though to be honest, all of the flirting and attempts at romance were meh. Very sad Sokka didn’t get to wear the Kyoshi warrior garments.)

Jet and his freedom fighters operating near Omashu and actually getting some Fire Nation spies. Jet’s banter in the beginning and the fake marriage was great. But the, this is my brother in law, he was struck mute at birth was just. XD *chef’s kiss* hilarious!

Azula being played with by her shit father. Ozai being a manipulative shit. The "everyone knows you’re perfect Azula" and the "not good enough" . Oooooof!

Zuko and Uncle Iroh's relationship before he was banished, and the 41st Battalion being Zuko's crew is a nice touch.

Yue as a water bender and a spirit dream walker? Very nice. Loved the little touch of her still being able to waterbend even after the Moon was dead. Sad we didn't get to see her spirit form though.

But mostly seeing more of the past Avatars. I like that they referenced the Avatar comics.

Not sure I liked seeing so much nitty-gritty sadness and death though. All in all, this live action adaptation is better than the previous attempt but cannot hold a candle to the original. It's good advertisement and motivation for me to rewatch the original though.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy they got 2 more seasons and I will watch those when they come out. I can’t wait to see Toph and when Zuko joins the Gaang. :)
