It hurts until it doesn’t. You think it’s going to break you, but it won’t. You may not sleep as well at night, but you will be fine. Numb, but numb and fine are the same.

Resource: Wound Types and How to Treat Them
Violence, fights, tension–three words that often carry a story a long, especially anything in the fantasy, sci-fi, or action-adventure realm. Whether it’s hand-to-hand combat (see older resource posts), or weapon usage, fights should be as realistic as possible: the focus should be on the fiction, the characters, and story, not your reader scratching their head saying “that could never really happen.” Here are some resources I hope will help as you embark on your more “wound-based” scenes:

Healing is just as important as the fight when it comes to story believability. If your character was shot one day ago and is now running aroun the Olympics, it’s likely your reader will close the book and forget about all the important story-telling you had engaged them in prior. Facts count, so don’t let the small stuff derail your next big hit.

I go through writing phases where I am super addicted to writing - and then I go months just jotting down notes that don't get typed for...well months. I've written the beginning to maybe 20 books/series in my life and never finished a manuscript until about 2 years ago - and I'm rewriting it. Meanwhile, my friend had been working on the same series her whole life. I got the ADHD bad. When will I finish what I've started?

My musings on sex in romance novels vs. reality...
It is a deplorable situation. We read the romance novels that give us the flutterings in our hearts and the heat in our skin - and then find that reality is not quite as...earth-shattering.
Not every man is so huge that their virginal bride is afraid that he won't fit.
Not every man is talented at giving a woman pleasure.
Not every orgasm shakes your foundations.
But when you're with the right person, it is exactly that: earth-shattering, foundation shaking, soul- stirring pleasure.
Which is what I believe is reason behind the "impossible" pleasure some of our favorite heroines enjoy.
In short, sex can be just as amazing when you let emotion in. Which is why it is so good in books. Just few tips i picked up from some favorite authors.
