what people don’t get about percy’s fatal flaw being loyalty is that it isn’t a cop-out resulting from the main character syndrome or rick trying to keep unlikeable traits away from percy–it’s that even a noble trait like loyalty can become bad or fatal to oneself if practiced in extremes. that’s literally the whole point. nothing, absolutely NOTHING is good in excess. that’s why we have the phrase: _____ to a fault. fill in the blank with good attributes all you want, the meaning remains the same. loyalty can and will become a source of moral conflict and self-destruction if not leashed to healthy amounts. and that’s why percy’s extreme loyalty is a flaw because it hurts him and makes him go against the “morally right” thing to do. his loyalty is fatal to his ownself. you cannot call any trait a “good” one if it comes at the cost of harming the one that displays it, can you? loyalty is inherently a good, noble thing to practice but when you stretch it wide, when your personal loyalty to someone blinds you to the hurt it causes others and yourself, when you cannot critique people you’re loyal to (something percy very much struggles with), it becomes a flaw. a fatal one.

You know, Ninjago could be simple with just a "here's the 16 parallel realms", but they went :

"Nah, this one realm is inside of a monster living in another realm but is also connected to a third realm. This one is more isolated than the others, but it's different from that one which is the first one to ever exist – all of the others have been created by the main character's grandpa who's basically god. A few of them we won't tell you if they're actual realms or just different places in a same realm so you have to guess ; this one is so chaotic we have to precise it's the same realm every single time because you just wouldn't be able to guess. This one got destroyed at some point and is slowly recreating since then. Here's a realm but we won't tell you how it's called, and here's the name of a realm but we never actually showed you how it looks. Years in this realm are equal to weeks in the others. Some realms are aware the others exist but some aren't. One of them may or may not predict the destinies of all the other realms, and one of them got a kinda matrix organisation opening portals wherever they want. One of the realms is actually the world of another show that flopped so we crossovered it with our own. People are using magic tea to travel from a realm to another, but they also can use rituals or similar things... Except dragons, because they can naturally go to whatever realms they want. Also, you don't know all of the realms yet but they all merged before we told you so now you have almost no way to know where does a place come from if we don't explicitly tell you ; but also they aren't completely merged yet so they still somehow separately exist. At first, elemental powers were only from one realm but since the merge, anyone from any realm can get them. All of this in a show in which time travel is a thing of course, so good luck memorising the lore I guess 😀"

I got fixated on headcannon lore for how and why there's so many watchdogs and fistfighters and this is what I came up with- sentient soup that gets payed to make henchmen. Their voice would sound similar to Grob Gob Glob Grod from Adventure Time(both in filters added and in variation, It was too hard looking up who voiced who-), and they talk with mild pauses in-between words since they have to collectively decide what to say.

Life works differently in Amity Park

[lore for ghost cannibalism au series I’m writing but feel free to use this elsewhere. It can be read as its own ficlet]

Amity isn't sure exactly when it became more. To some degree it has been 'more' for a very long time, but it was never quite to this level until He came.

At 1:17 P.M. CST on August 3rd of 20XX two unique beings came into existence at the same time. Electricity and Ectoplasm from the realm that ties all realms together flooded into Amity Park in an explosive combination, not unlike the Big Bang. At the center of this reality altering event was The Boy; at it's perimeter, Amity Park. In a way, Amity Park came into being as a way to protect the rest of the dimension from the effects of the tear in reality. Amity could absorb ectoplasm and grow into it's own sentience.

The Boy is the source, and the kindred soul. They are both forever marked by the same event from which they were born. Born, may not be the right word, but transformed doesn't quite cover their metamorphoses or the sheer extent of the change. Metamorphosis doesn't quite fit right either, so 'born' it is.

The Boy is Kin and even when He leaves Amity's protective borders, it keeps Him within their senses. It makes sure He remains mostly unharmed. He is strong, but Amity is protective. It has never had kin before Him. Amity never had much reason to move before The Boy began leaving its borders. Sure, it was vaguely aware that it was capable of such a thing but there was no desire to, not until The Boy went to Wisconsin. Amity went with Him.

Later, Amity doesn't follow Him around, He becomes annoyed when it does that all the time, but without Him, Amity is bored. Sometimes jumping to somewhere else eases the boredom. It gets to watch the changes from both within and without itself. Different states have different laws and reality bends around Amity in such a way that no one notices its movement. No one who cares enough to try and stop it at least.

Amity can't come with Him to New Jersey. Lady Gotham is mean and territorial like the spirits of the realm between realms. They don't like what Amity is. She can't eat Amity but Amity is also too similar to her. Similar but different. Lady Gotham does try to eat The Boy. Amity doesn't like that and badgers her borders briefly but Lady Gotham is a spirit and similar enough to The Boy that they have to fight. She has to try to eat him and he has to try to eat her. It is ritual and as much as Amity doesn't like it, Amity is used to this. So many spirits have been in and out of it through the tear, the very tear that made Amity.

Most of the people of Amity Park don't know of the movement of their city. Reality trying to reassert its rules over the humans within this dimension. Of course, those who have had extended contact with the tear in reality have a higher resistance to Reality's assertions. It's still difficult for anyone to realize Amity's exploits unless they leave its borders and thus very few have noticed.

Amity is proud of itself and its people. It may try to keep as many of them within its borders as possible, discourage them from leaving. They are safer within and Amity is fond of them. The Boy would never allow it to keep people from leaving but He doesn't seem to mind that it gives certain nudges here or there.

Amity Park is alive as much as it is dead and things just work different there.

Btw this is not originally my idea. I first saw it in Shrodinger’s Bat by Michaelisunderrated on AO3. I just snagged the idea of “city goes where it wants” and ran with it to create this

It seems that it's been a while since you posted about the Haltmanns, but I love your versions of them, shark-ness and all! Now I'm kind of wondering about Andrea, Susie's mom and Max's wife. I know that she's dead and that she was the species of the Mages (which is a big part of why Susie lacks a good chunk of her father's fabulous shark-ness), but what was she like? How did Max leave his planet and find her? What happened to her and did Susie know her well? Well, I mean, judging by one of my favorite bits of art by you (which I think might be about Andrea's death), I get the feeling she didn't and her dad did not take it well.

Sorry about the wait! Been preoccupied with life and the asks have been building up. I am happy to talk about this family again though, broken as they may be.

Andrea was initially just another technician that worked beside Max Haltmann during his time supplying the GSA. The two of them got along very well, they generally had very alike thought processes and ways of problem-solving. Andrea's childhood was a lot like Max's too - despite having come from a planet in another part of the Galaxy she grew up without a stable family life and isolated from her peers. The two came to bond over shared experiences and started a close relationship. They married soon after the collapse of the GSA, but had to move to one of the smaller planets in the area to briefly hide from any forces of NME, since they would be executed if caught by them bc they were allied with the GSA. This was around the time Haltmann would take up the role as the CEO of his late father's smaller company at the time. The brilliant inventor at heart he is, he quickly started turning the company into a galaxy wide corporation by supplying products to planets in need, Andrea at his side the entire way.

Andrea herself was an absolute genius - despite Max's role as CEO he would credit her just as much with his success, if not more so. She and him would work on projects for hours on end, and go on frequent expeditions to remote, desolated planets to search for old, abandoned technology. One of these trips was when they uncovered the blueprints and broken parts of STAR DREAM. As fate would have it, this was their next big project - to get it up and running again.

Around this time (when they started repairing Star Dream) was when Max and Andrea discovered they were expecting a child. They were both overjoyed beyond belief, and excited to bring a new little inventor into the world. Since Max was carrying their baby, he reluctantly had to stop going on remote trips for his and the pup's safety. Andrea, being the head of the teams going to these remote planets, wasn't able to stay behind. Max found himself missing her quite a bit.

In the weeks leading up to the pup's birth, Max begged Andrea to stay behind just till they were born. As much as she wanted to, she insisted she couldn't leave her exploration team to fend for themselves, and promised this would be the last time she left for now. She departed to Lavadom, an unstable volcanic planet rumored to be littered with parts of ancient ships - as well as nests of invasive Sphere Doomers.

After a reported eruption, rescue missions were sent to Lavadom. No bodies were recovered.

Susie was born a few weeks later. She was named after one of Andrea's suggestions. When Max held her for the first time, he made two promises, to himself, to Susie, and to Andrea. That Star Dream, his and Andrea's work, WOULD see completion - and that he would protect Susie with his life. He wouldn't lose her like he lost Andrea.

As we all know, one of those promises was broken. And in the end, Max Haltmann himself was lost.

Giving birth to a zombie is extremely traumatic to your body. The pregnancies are difficult, the birth is violent due to the feral nature of zombies in their natural state, and they receive next to no medical aid. It’s why so many zombies are raised by single fathers, why those who are lucky enough to still have their mom around are usually only children. To survive one pregnancy is rare enough, but a second zombie pregnancy is honestly testing fate at that point.

Zed’s mother died giving birth to Zoey. It’s all she’s ever known, though it’s not as hard on her when most of her zombie friends have similar family dynamics. At least in that way she’s not the odd one out. Zed did know his mom, he’d been old enough to understand what was happening when she started to get sicker and sicker as the pregnancy progressed. He refused to eat or speak for days after his dad had come home from the hospital alone with Zoey in his arms, without the woman who’d raised him, who was so kind and beautiful and genuine.

When Addison told him she was pregnant, he nearly threw up from the sudden, intense fear that surged over him like a tidal wave, threatening to knock him over. The memories came rushing back, memories he tried so hard not to think about. But this time it was Addison instead of his mom. In his nightmares, he watched her body grow skinnier as the zombie baby drained the life from her, stole her nutrients, kicked at her until she couldn’t keep anything down. He’d heard horror stories from others with similar experiences as his own, other zombies who were old enough to remember the loss of their mother.

He had never spoken to Addison about his mom before, but he couldn’t exactly keep it from her when she looked at him with such worry in her eyes, like she thought he was upset with her rather than angry at the world for making such unfair situations. So he opened up, cried into her arms as he described his feelings in detail that he’d never told anyone, not even his dad, not even Eliza.

“I won’t leave you,” Addison promised, “I’ll fight even if it seems impossible. I told you that someday we would have our happily ever after and no one can take that from us.”

In Gatali, siblings Ardere and Fuligo have lived in the ruins all their lives, but both have felt their dreams pulling them towards the Strath, the places where the Kingdoms live. The occupants, that many in the Ruins hated due to the War between the neighbors. But soon those pulls became too strong and soon both them deep into many things, danger and turmoil around many corners.

Kemuri had a good life in her honest option even if she didn't feel satisfied or whole. But then one day, a cat by the name of Locustpaw, who boasted stories of his heroism and bravery, a life that she had only lived in her dreams.

Sasha feels alone, after her twoleg had stop moving she had no choice but to leave the only place she called home. Though she didn't make it far until she was snatched up by this group that calls themselves The Sun Swallower, who are trying to strip everything that makes her, her dreams that promise her a better life makes her steel her heart to try and find a way to escape.

These four cats, in ways different from each other, will answer the call, the pull. They will embrace their new homes, learning from them, gaining new friends and families, challenges from all sides, from bullies, harsh weather and even death. ~~~~~ Drawing massive inspiration from many other fanworks such as @strelles-universe, @cats-of-eden-valley, @oldfacesnewdawnoffical, @shatteredpaths, @aiilurociide, @bonefall and the @the-world-of-ignavus alongside with works such as Guardians of Gahoole, Puss in Boots, Bioshock, Cult of the Lamb, this is the Determined Sparks Au… a kinda fix it fic kinda not of the first arc of Warriors. This Au takes place in a post apocalyspe world where thanks to the humans, dogs, cats, and rats have been mutated due to gene splicing. Humans still exist, but they too have been mutated, gene splicing their own dna, but they are not the main focus. I'm not going to erase all the bad stuff that warriors cats did but I hope that I can acknowledge it in a better narrative. Thank you all for the mention above for giving me so much inspirataion and I hope you all enjoy when I finally get this stuff written down.

Prepare yourself for a long healthy relationship. Frost has been storing up love for someone special and once he finds you? RIP, because he’s gonna unleash it all at once. I don’t think you’re ready cuz this level of affection is so unexpected from a guy like him.

Yeah he lives up to his name and he's got MAJOR guard dog energy, (he wears his dog tags around you so you know he’s about that life) but his devotion is a raging fire that it blinds you. When it comes to his lady, Frost doesn’t hold back. Before you even think about asking for something, it's already done. And don’t get it twisted; he’s not a simp, he’s a gentleman. There’s a difference.

He's picking you up, he's dropping you off, opening doors, silently observant to your needs to cater to them, and he's always one step ahead; and he does it all without asking anything in return. That’s what distinguishes a gentleman from a simp. Frost is all about acts of service. Everything Frost does is structured and orderly so be prepared for that in a relationship. He plans a date and it’s executed to perfection, right down to the time he takes you home or if Gen is away for the night, you’re staying over... 😏

Frost is a gentle giant and quite possessive once you get close. If you’re out on the town and someone tries to hit on you— Frost magically spawns behind you, and a literal growl of “back off” is heard. He’s the best boyfriend but don’t call him that. It’s not “manly” but once he feels comfortable enough to crack a smile around you? It's over. He's locked in.

You are never getting rid of him. Don't be surprised half a year into the relationship and he's asking you to move in. He knows you're the one for him, why waste any more time?

Be prepared to be absolutely spoiled. Mac comes from new money and all his life he’s dealt with fake women and friends, wanting access to his family’s wealth. You however don’t care about the money, and that makes him feral.

Mac, despite his frat boy reputation, was raised to respect women and once he sets his eyes on you? He will worship the very ground you walk on. Of course he has to make sure you’re down bad just like he is. The first few months he’s such an arrogant jerk, you almost lose interest, but it’s Mac’s way of testing if you actually like him or just after his money.

Once you pass the vibe check, OH GIRL! He wraps you up in a fur coat and showers you with love.

100% Mac’s love language is gift giving. If he thinks you’ll like it, it’s yours. You get weekly flowers delivered to your workplace and another bouquet to your home and that’s on top of the car he orders to chauffeur you around. There’s flowers in there too. Wait, did you want the car too?! You don’t care about the gifts; but it’s stuck in his head (from past lovers) that tangible things show his love. You have to break that habit and educate this man there’s other ways to show affection.. 😏

Speaking of, Mac is constantly touching you. A hand on your waist, thigh, holding your hand, an arm thrown over your shoulder— you name it, he's doing it. He needs that reassurance that you’re with him. Some people think you’re just using him (he secretly believes it too) but after a year together when you bite your lip and ask can you move in? Big surprise!!! He already purchased a house he thinks you’ll love. And you do just as much as you love him.

Date ideas: Boat rides, flights abroad, Kentucky derby, late night car rides

Neo

You must have patience to deal with this one. He is a walking red flag so proceed with caution. That being said, it’s still possible to tame this heathen and one look into your eyes got Neo acting correct real quick.

Pulling girls isn’t an issue, it’s keeping them that’s the problem. Neo never had a serious relationship before yet he feels something click when you accidentally bumps into him. You got him so tongue tied, Mac and Frost make fun of him afterwards. The infamous Casanova short circuits at the sight of you, don’t be surprised if he hopelessly follows you around the club all night trying to get your number. Thankfully he's cool with the bf of one of your friends and gets your number that way because you vanish into thin air like the angel he believes you are.

Neo has to work extra hard not you scare you off. He knows his reputation has found it way to your ears. He’s a multiple club owner, a known plug, and secretly Joker’s hit man. The odds are not in his favor but he’ll do anything to have you in his life. The way you smile, your soft demeanor… it’s vastly different from his other flings and you are driving him insane.

It’s the first time that Neo is chasing a female, not the other way around.

He’s pulling up outside your place just to talk, I mean, yeah he wants you sexually but he wants to take things slow and that works in his favor. Proving that he’s serious helps to slowly lower your apprehension about him. All your friends warned you that Neo is a classic fboy— yet that’s a stark contrast to the guy who takes you to amusement parks or to the skating rink in the middle of the night. You feel like a teenager again smoking and making out well past your curfew.

He’s trying so hard to be ‘boyfriend material’. The baby is struggling, so don’t laugh. If it were up to him, you would be helping him dump a body not holding hands at a craft store buying yarn. He can’t complain too much since you’re knitting him a new Shiesty so 👀

Ironically he’s the one who has to pass the vibe check. It takes forever for you to give him a chance and “officially date” him after a year of playing hard to get.

And gurl once he gets the green light, you better buckle up. Two months into the ‘official relationship’, he gifts you a promise ring and a key to his place. Once there, you finally get a taste of that fboy energy everyone warned you about.

Neo rearranges your guts and breaks your back but afterwards he sits back smoking a blunt, holding your still trembling body to his— just happy he has a girl who wants to stay with him. He is never letting you go.

Date ideas: His various clubs, hole-in-the-wall events in Gotham, his place, (insert your favorite hobby) establishment

Anatomy of a puppet

Despite looking human, it was very easy to tell that The Kabukimono isn't an average life form.

He breaths too perfectly, moves too smoothly, blinks too mechanically. It's as though everything is already programed into his brain to act certain ways.

Apart from mannerisms, his looks are always off as well. Skin so pale it was practically porcelain and limbs so jointed you could say they were a puppet's...which he was.

He's too perfect, too programed, too sculpted.

But he still longs to find a place in this world.
