Mireclan was starving.

He told his best friend his plan.

He didn't mean for it to go that badly.

He didn't mean for Darkscar to die.

He missed Darkscar.

Cautionary Tale: while not a cautionary tale, a story was passed to explain what had occurred to cause Lightclan and Caveclan to flee from their territories, and why they had isolated themselves for so long

Story: 

Many cats have heard the story of the Dreaded Giantstar, who almost single handedly ran off both Lightclan and Caveclan. 

Giantstar had a lackey though, his best friend, Darkscar. Giantstar had been the brains of the duo since they were apprentices, so when he suggested to Darkscar a plan to increase Mireclan's territory and get rid of the other Clans, Darkscar was intrigued. 

At the next gathering, Giantstar gave the Clans an ultimatum: leave or die. Lightclan and Caveclan got the message, one leaving entirely while the other hid deep in the mountains of their territory. However, Nobleclan was not as willing to back down as the others. So Giantstar and Darkscar hatched a plan: lure a bear with honey towards Nobleclan's camp, and let nature take it's course. 

What they didn't account for, was the bear choosing to target Mireclan instead. The bear got to Giantstar and Darkscar first, then chased the rest of Mireclan across a log bridge, finally dying as the log bridge snapped under its weight, but not before taking out six more cats in the process.

--Darkscar arrived at the Dark Forest, he was upset. He had followed Giantstar all his life, only for it to have gotten them both killed. He doesn't go near Giantstar's side of the forest anymore, That's where the bear spirit's roam, forever taunting Giantstar.

--Not only cats roam the Dark Forest, it is also home to any creature who's committed atrocities in their lives. Most of the bear spirits enjoy taunting Giantstar, he really thought he could control one of them? A laughable mistake. (sunshade’s AU)

The Story of how they Met

Katarina was in Ionia, doing a little bit of recon and using her photographic memory to remember the layout of the city-state. After she had finished that, she decided to go along the outskirts and do the same, while also just taking a nice walk. During her walk she felt another persons presence, it was different from anything she had ever sensed before. She was drawn to it; the powerful, potent magic and intimidating aura. She followed it until she came upon Syndra’s Celestial fortress. When she looked up, her emerald orbs met the Dark Sovereign’s purple, slightly-glowing hues. The Mage had been waiting for her, as she was watching Katarina the whole time. The outcast had felt Katarina’s own intimidating aura, so with her interest piqued, she decided to watch and see what happened.

There the two found each other, staring back at one another with their eyes locked. Katarina was still left on the ground, while Syndra sat at the edge of the floating mass in the sky that was her fortress, her legs dangling over the edge. They didn’t have to say a word. They could sense that they were one in the same, yet completely different.They were both cold, lonely souls that didn’t know what love and affection were. They both grew up only knowing the harsh unforgiving reality of the world they lived in. Yet, Katarina had family and the responsibility of carrying on as the head of her house hold, the Du Couteaus’. Syndra on the other hand was an outcast from her home land, left in solitude while her powers only grew limitless.

It was completely unusual and out of character for the two, but from that day forward, Katarina spent most of her time near Ionia, her feet off the Valoran soils and on the soils of the mass in the sky.

Syndra found Katarina exquisite and quite intriguing. She felt that she could learn a lot from the woman. Something that she couldn’t really explain, it was just a feeling or intuition if you will, that told her this Noxian was the key to many things.

Katarina found Syndra absolutely breathtaking. She felt as if there was no other woman so imperfectly perfect. The Sovereign was smart and powerful, more than any of her desperate suitors could ever hope to be. She knew this woman would be able to take care of herself, even if her life was in danger. She knew that with this woman by her side, they’d be unstoppable.

Perhaps you could call it destiny our it would be that they’re each others soulmates, but whatever the case may be...They were supposed to meet and fall in love, and teach each other about all the emotions and feelings they never knew they had or have ever experienced before. They were certainly the key to unlocking the rest of the world for each other,

The ‘jealous of you’ line is kind of a poor translation but I’ll give them a free pass this time because Shipping Fuel lol like yes ordinary marriage candidates should be worried about Riheet working with the princess in close quarters but not in the way this makes me think.

and become king, it doesn’t get any more absolute than that.

This scene with her father was very sweet, but very sad as the king is withering away. I wonder what happened to her mother? I’m guessing she’d still be around if she’d doubted those around her more.

The trusting Scarlet would definitely do Riheet some good, but it may be too little too late.

I wonder if Riheet’s assumption here is actually incorrect? Scarlet is clearly disliked by the nobles who want her out of power, and her mother isn’t present for one reason or another... but even so, it wouldn’t make things even.

Try as she might to treat everyone fairly, Scarlet’s interactions with the dark elves are hampered by ignorance and privilege which Riheet finally makes clear here. Given how clueless everyone seems to be about the atrocities his people suffered, I have a feeling the ‘Orvelian soldiers’ that hunted the dark elves were grunts following a certain noble looking to control everything rather than knights acting on the word of the crown...

And despite doubting his claims, she’s willing to let him cut her down to amend things.

This was just a really nice shot, visually and symbolically, as the naive princess’s soul is pierced with harsh truths.

Finally, he could have stabbed her to death here...

But instead left her sleeping, which is Something. Sure, you could argue he didn’t want to risk her waking up to fight back or alerting any of her comrades, but he doesn’t really have much to lose at this point you know?

Then of course there’s the ending credits, which shows Riheet walking to meet Scarlet resolutely, the two of them exchanging soft smiles as the lyrics sing about gaining a strong determination to move towards the future after coming to know that certain someone, hearts connecting...... ET CETERA...

I mean I’m not expecting them to actually fall in love but if they did that’d be neat >.>

Story: 

Brindlepaw was raised solely by his father, Cedarstar, as his mother had passed away shortly after his birth. 

He was quite timid and followed his friend, Sunpaw, wherever-- often being dragged along into trouble because of her. One day, they snuck out of camp and wandered far away. They came across a scraggly grey spotted tom. The tom told them of a way to become stronger, so they listened, dreaming into the Dark Forest. 

The tom introduced himself as Spottedstone, and he was joined by an ancient Dark forest spirit, a tom by the name of Darkscar. Darkscar had been chosen to train them. However, when Darkscar chased the two apprentices up a tree, they had failed to notice a very weak branch, and Brindlepaw had jumped onto it. 

The branch collapsed under the apprentice's weight and he fell to the ground, snapping his neck and spine on impact. Sunpaw had woken up, praying it was a dream, only to be greeted with the mangled body of her friend next to her. She ran as fast as she could back to her Clan and broke down, the sight of her friend's body proved to be too much for her, so she imminently requested to be a medicine cat apprentice instead. 

Due to Brindlepaw dying in the Dark Forest, he was forced to roam there forever. At least he has his grandma there to comfort him.

The sky turns enchanting when the sun is still going down. Shades of orange, green and blue flood into it from horizon to horizon, a hemospectrum painted on the sky. Dualscar’s memories exist solely in this time, the liminal spaces of the other memories crashing together met with a constant, gorgeous sunset, the eternal beginning to a night that never came.

On his deck, activities are still not happening; he got up earlier than the skeleton crew he was required, and he keeps himself trapped in the last memory; sunset, still sea, sails furled. The sea is still enough that, in this space after death, he can walk across it, into other memories, into a cavern full of grubs that only remember being grubs, into a clownpound by the sea where no one knew his name.

Usually, he sequesters himself on the ship, but when Darkleer makes the trek, he doesn’t complain. He sits leaning against the railing and completing whatever tasks he’s set out for himself, more and more of which center around the times when Darkleer does come for a visit, even if more often than not he just settles down beside him, knee almost touching, a breeze he brings with him in memories making his hair tickle against Dualscar’s face.

“Do you want to come with me?” He asks, long ago having forgone the usual greetings someone of his class would give and get. “To my hive, I mean.”

His hand creeps over, rests lightly on the deck, his pinkie and palm pressed to Dualscar’s. “Why?” He turns, closes his hand as much as he can around Darkleer’s hand.

“We have time.” He says, turning his hand over and so, so carefully returning the hold. “We have the thing that other trolls in-- Other trolls, I guess, usually don’t have as much of. Time.”

He sweats, his throat working to try and swallow, and Dualscar smirks, his clouded eye closing in a wink. “Didn’t know you missed me that much.” The teasing makes him sweat worse, but that’s fine. Dualscar turns, his leg cramping as he does from sitting so long, and brushes some of that long, smooth hair aside to kiss the corner of his mouth. “How old were you?”

“Th-thirty-two.” He stutters, licking his lips. He lets his head be turned towards Dualscar’s. “How old were you?”

Dualscar ignores the question for a moment, pulling him into another kiss; different from the jade, different from Spinnerett. A gentle one, with Darkleer leading and Dualscar slowing him down. “Older than you. Doesn’t matter, I guess.”
