Yes it might have taken me an embarrassingly long time to really pay attention to it but in ASIAS, along with the 'half a witch' parallel, both Hunter and Willow are motivated by upholding the legacy of those who came before them. That picture of Gilbert and Harvey being flyer derby champions is just as significant to her as the Golden Guard sigil is to him.

#other miscellaneous ASIAS thoughts that are not worth their own post but i think about them often: #its an episode that asks ''but who are you outside of the roles this story uses to define you?'' #this is the only episode of the Hunter Makes Friends series where his actions are not motivated by Belos #and Willow is neither one of Luz's two best friends nor the estrangled acquaintance to Amity #both characters are unnattached to those influences here. And without those roles slotting them into predictable places #we're able to explore new nooks and crannies of their personalities #stuff that really hasnt been revealed before #the two of them are trying out something new and a little out of their comfort zone and it pulls new traits out of them #Hunter’s hexside infiltration reveals him to be WAY more socially awkward than previous eps have shown #and then after his flyer derby match it really brings out his excitement over having friends and the genuine affection he has for them #Meanwhile this is the ep that really establishes what an ambitous go getter Willow can be #Shes never been a leader before. Shes never been this direct or ruthless. But her dedication to this team really pulls it out of her #and these lesser known sides of themselves are the version the other meets #lastly it is a very good take on a Person Vs Society story #again Hunter's internal conflict in this episode has nothing to do with Belos. He literally never gave a fuck if Hunter had magic #But Hunter was still born and raised on the boiling isles and no matter how sheltered he is #the inherent prejudices of the place is gonna gnaw at his self confidence. hes gonna internalize this shit #so while every Hunter ep before this was about how Belos has manipulated his self of worth as a person #this time we are dealing with how hunter views himself as a WITCH #MEANWHILE Willow's struggles with have always been entirely focused on her insecurity as a witch #her terrible grades and her severed friendship has always been about her insufficient abilities with magic #but in this ep you learn that it goes deeper than that #she berates herself not because of her magical ability but because she believes that shes stupid #the half a witch thing has severely deteriorated her worth as a PERSON #their respective struggles go in different directions in this ep and their emotions are complicated #but they still overlap enough that they can understand what the other is feeling #OKAY AND LASTLY AGAIN. Forreal this time #that scene when Darius is about to attack the entrails and Willow throws her arms out to shield all three of them #and then Hunter proceeds to run in and shield HER #because SOMEONE had to shield her. they are instinctive protectors. they are the same

you need to start fencing now. you need to join your local hema club. there you will meet many wonderful transexuals and many strange heterosexual men who will act as your mentors and with whom you will develop a homoerotic relationship with. you are out of school and need a way to make new friends irl; you are a grown up and need to find a way to work out that you enjoy. go stab people. go swing a sword your height at someone's head and they will say "great job! you looked good out there" and give you an exceptionally sweaty hug and you will feel loved an accepted and maybe a little horny but that's just the warrior's bond

#fencing #my actual advice is get a hobby that involves meeting new ppl as an adult #join a club #try out a recreational sport #team sports sucked for me as a kid for obvious reasons #and I'm sure that's true for other ppl as well #but give it a try as an adult #no one is trying to get a college scholarship by blasting a soccer ball at your face in sub zero temps anymore #there might be roller derby near you :) #or some other quirky sport you've wanted to try #there are many homosexuals in sports for adults #tag talk

Oogh had a dream about getting a dog and I can’t tell if the rule about being allowed to have 2 ESAs at a time was part of the dream or real, which means I have to go find the ESA rules and also talk to my therapist, because if I’m dreaming about it in such detail that I filled out paperwork, I probably should just get a dog

#the problem is that my dad’s dog does NOT like girl dogs so it 1) has to be a boy 2) they have to get along when they finally meet #so maybe I’ll get a dog next summer? or over a break? #but I can hardly fall asleep I need a critter in my room with me #I’m also worried that if I get a dog it’ll signal to the universe I’m through with Alphonse and he’ll die which is the last thing I want #he’s my little guy my constant companion I don’t want him to die please don’t let him die #but also he’s 9 years old I know it’s coming in the next few years and I’m trying to prepare myself. #it’s gonna be like Sam all over again I just know it #and that’s the problem with getting a dog. I’m setting myself up for another heartbreak in 12 years or whatever (Sam made it to 15) #idk maybe I’ll go volunteer at the humane shelter since a bunch of my derby teammates work there #and that’ll be good enough for my dog fix OR I’ll find a dog I think would get along with dolley #idk I’m exhausted and sleeping doesn’t help. so fun and cool #diary post

Was thinking about how huntlow would be if they ever had a kid and I imagined that hunter would be an extremely loving parent, to the point that he's a little suffocating. Strict when he needs to be and overprotective because he worries too much. Very concerned with his kid's education, their future and reaching their full potential because he loves his kid so much and he wants them to have everything. Meanwhile Willow’s priorities lie within emotions and mental health and making sure her family is all doing okay. So she's often the one diffusing tension and reigning in Hunter when he is unintentionally getting a little too intense with his whole Education Dad thing because sometimes it feels like he's putting too much pressure on their kid and she knows that's the last thing he wants to do. She's also a believer in a little rebellion being a healthy part of growing up, so she often turns a blind eye when she sees it. At this point I realized I was just imagining Harvey and Gilbert.

#THAT FLYER DERBY PHOTO PARALLEL WAS THERE FOR A REASON I TELL YOU #THEY ARE THE SAME #I love the idea that harvey is gonna meet hunter and be immediately wary of him #and it is so funny because BITCH THATS YOU!! LOOK HIM IN THE EYE AND SEE YOUR SIXTEEN YEAR OLD SELF!!! #plus i always figured that willow takes almost entirely after gilbert in personality #like sweet and patient. a little mischievous #gilbert is absolutely capable of going apeshit like willow is. i believe this in my soul #he doesnt get angry often and thats why the boiling isles has stayed in one piece this long
