one thing that does annoy me about the Gw2 story is how after the plot reveal of the dragons being necessary to the planet happens, everyone starts acting like this was an obvious fact that everyone just knew, and that the commander is an idiot for killing two dragons. nevermind the fact he wasn’t even the person leading the attack in the first case, and only took over the lead in the second case because their command structure fell apart.
also kind of irritating because I like Trahearne but it’s another example of how while he’s alive, he gets all the praise for everything you do, and then when he’s dead you get all the blame for everything he did. people even start calling you things like “leader of the pact” and “commander of the pact” even though you were never the leader, aren’t in the pact anymore, and actually rejected taking over command a few episodes ago.
and it would be one thing if the game was self-aware about it, but it seems to genuinely want you to think that the dragon plot reveal was an obvious fact that you just ignored. like everyone in Elona seems to be aware of how all this works and you’re mocked on several occasions for killing the dragons, but for years before this point no one had a fucking clue and Taimi was the one to figure it out. so if it wasn’t for you and your guild, people still wouldn’t be aware of this

what bugs me most about the pjo show is that i know they could’ve done better. i knowwwww they could’ve been as faithful as they wanted to the books. for anyone saying “oh, but it’s an adaptation! it isn’t meant to be the same so stop whining that they took stuff out or that they’re adding things in different order!” well yes, i agree that adaptations aren’t meant to be a carbon copy of the source material for the simple fact that it’s adapting the source material into a different medium (television), yet it’s just that! a form of adapting the things that are unable to be channeled from, say, a book—or on the contrary, adding things that make sense for television but couldn’t be channeled into the books otherwise…all of this in a faithful manner. a good adaptation is one that stays true to the source material by properly adapting its themes, characters, symbolism, context, pacing, and the overall story/plot so as to not only be seen as a sort of love letter to the fans, but also to reach a wider audience.
just look at the hunger games! the movies are so faithful to the books to the point that most of the scenes are taken straight out of the books, dialogue and all. and they’re movies, aka less runtime than a freaking tv show and they still did it better. did the hg movies have to take a few scenes out? yes; they have only so much time to tell the story as it is told in the books. did they resume things, like the games themselves? also yes. but did most of the important scenes and character moments stay in the movies? also also yes. again, THESE ARE MOVIES!!!!! a medium much more limited than a freaking tv series with multiple episodes that have enough run time to add even more scenes from the books than what could be possible in a 2 hour (max) movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and yet they STILL changed so much that rly had no business being changed other than that the writers decided they felt like it because…..a lot of it im not even sure. and the worst thing of it all is that freaking rick riordan took part in script writing yet so much of the source material has been watered down???? they make a whole ass episode about a monster fight with the majority of the scenes from said episode not even present in the books instead of sticking to the perfectly good source material???? and by doing so they delete the small details that are very much integral to character development and plot???? huh???? the math isn’t mathing. don’t get me wrong, i do like some changes, but then i think: at what cost do they add these things when there was a perfectly good narrative without it? like, at what cost do we get the whole turning to gold sacrifice scene if they’re gonna take out all the fun details that make the lightning thief the lightning thief? for example the silly water park merch and then annabeth displaying her spider phobia and her mortification at going to the thrill ride of love with percy and then being broadcasted to olympus. this is just one episode, but they’ve been doing it in all of them. and u know, it’s not that i don’t hate-hate most these changes. again, what bugs me is that this was supposed to be a faithful adaptation. again, it’s a tv series, with so much more time to develop everything from the books. rick is behind it, who apparently hated the movies for how unfaithful they were. the cast is great. and yet…the script is so mediocre. the spark is lost. character traits are looked over in place for weird pacing and even weirder changes. if the hunger games could do it, then surely a pjo tv series could as well? apparently not? i really really Don’t Get It.

https://www.tumblr.com/dragynkeep/723731318921363456/i-dont-really-understand-the-argument-that-aang
Thoughts? No pressure, don't read if you don't want
"The Lion Turtle saves Aang from making a hard decision" It literally didn't. Aang full on said the words "I have to kill Fire Lord Ozai." He is not happy about it, but he is willing to do it. Even AFTER the Lion Turtle gives him an alternative he still almost does it anyway while in the Avatar state, only stopping himself at the last minute. And even BEFORE the Lion Turtle he had been willing to admit "Fire Lord Ozai is a terrible person, and the world would probably be better off without him"
Aang WAS willing to do the same as Gyatso and take a life if absolutely necessary. But he had a different option, and he took it - again, after seriously considering going for the "just kill the bastard" route.
Could the Lion Turtle have been set up better? Yes. But that doesn't change that fact that Aang's view-point was challenged and he concluded that pacism does not have to mean "just let the bad guy kill everyone", and to say that he didn't is either complete dishonesty or an admission that this kids show was too complicated for you to understand.
"Aang is not only responsible for himself" Neither was Zuko. Yet he let Ozai live when he had the perfect opportunity to kill him - even better than the ones Aang got for most of his battle with Ozai - because he believed it wasn't his fate. Where is the hate for Zuko?
And where's the hate for Iroh for going "Oh, even if I could defeat Ozai, history would see it as just a brother killing another brother for power?" yet sending his nephew to a potentially fatal battle with his niece for the title of Fire Lord? Where's the hate for him for going "Well, what history will think of me is more important than me at least backing up the Avatar?" Why didn't Iroh, the White Lotus, or any of the adults so much as offer be by Aang's side in the battle?
If everyone is throwing the responsibility on his lap, then Aang is the one to decide how he's gonna handle that responsibility, and if other people got a problem with that, they better step the hell up and take charge for once.
"This might be a kid's show instead of Game Of Thrones, but people still died, so it could have had the main character save the day by killing the bad guy"
Buddy. Buddy. Come on.
Avatar TELLS us Ozai disfigured his son, and we see the scar on his face, but it doesn't SHOW us the gory details. We KNOW people died, and we see bodies, but we don't see burnt corpses, people being crushed under rocks and bleeding to death, or hitting the ground after a fatal fall. Nick downright had the writers change scenes before they were animated because they were considered "too violent." They even cut away when Sokka slices a watermellon with his sword because the watermellon in question was representing a human head - it wasn't even a human being!
Kids shows have very specific, often kind of absurd rules - Teen Titans is infamous because Cartoon Network let the villain kidnap, torture, and try to murder to murder the heroes and even be implied to be a pedophlie and we see him burn away a teenager's clothes, yet he HAD to be called "Slade" instead of "Deathstroke" because "Think of the children!"
Saying "Nickelodeon is never gonna let the good guy save the day by murdering the bad guy" is not at all absurd just because they let the writers get away with other tihngs.
And once again, even if they COULD get away with that, they still wouldn't do it because as the anon so kindly pointed out, Aang's arc and the entire theme of mercy the show had from the very beginning do NOT allow that ending to make any goddamn sense.
Characters saving the day through murder is not inherently more "mature" or "more satisfying to watch" than the hero being merciful, and this kids show is not Game Of Thrones, GET OVER YOURSELVES ALREADY.
You like a kids show. A cartoon for 7-year-olds. A show in a children's network. Just because it didn't talk down to it's target audience doesn't mean you can expect it to deliver stuff it never promised you in the first place.

Aleksander: “I have no intention of hurting you. You must know that by now.”
Alina: “Forgive me if I don't take you at your word.”
Oh truly? When did he hurt you? When he upgraded your uncontrollable powers? Is that why you continue to do so by yourself now?
Aleksander: “I was honest about what mattered.”
Alina: “Like creating the Fold?”
The Darkling’s always as honest as possible, while not endangering himself and his goals. Makes sense. If you live as long as him, it would be immensely hard to keep track of the lies, so he’s just adjusting interpretations.
Alina’s list of concerns:
Mal
Destroying the Fold
Aleksander: “Your obsession with the Fold is naive. Destroying it won't solve Ravka's problems. They've hated us and hunted us long before the Fold existed. I was there. Now stop this, please. And come with me. We'll rule together side by side. I promised that you and I would change the world. And I intend to keep that promise.”
Not a single word that isn’t truth. I only wouldn’t offer her equality. She’s too short-sighted and inexperienced for that.
Alina: “That is never going to happen.”
Good. He should snatch Nikolai and marry him.
Aleksander: “How do you see this playing out? You and your Lantsov Prince happily ever after? Your faithful tracker curled up at the foot of your throne.”
I’m certain there would be no issues concerning possible heirs, since Nikolai paternity’s questionable, the line of succession should continue through him and people hate Grisha. I’m sure Sun Saint would be venerated enough for people to accept some deserter’s bastard on a throne.
Aleksander: “I have seen what you truly are, and I have never turned away. I never will. Can they say the same?”
Honey, you have some serious illusions about what she is.
- Do you know what an imago is, Will? ... a term from the dead religion of psychoanalysis. An imago is an image of a loved one, buried in the unconscious, carried with us all our lives.
~ An ideal.
- The concept of an ideal...
Hannibal 02×13- Mizumono
Alina: “They're not the ones obsessed with power and control.”
Neither is he, but the writers didn’t get the memo...
Aleksander: “Power must be controlled. And you are playing a very dangerous game with it.”
Well, yes! She just bitched about her lack of control like five minutes ago! But we can’t have our heroine admit the Baddie’s right, can we?
Alina: “You don't want me to tear down the Fold, because if I do, I'll destroy the only thing you have left.”
I just looove Alina’s empathy. Aleksander let her in enough to show her what their lives look like after few lifetimes, and instead of her at least considering how will that affect her, she’s mocking him.
Aleksander: “Have it your way.”
Sorry, but at this point I want your heartless girlboss dead. Shame the Darkling doesn't.

// Kung Fu Panda 4 Rewrite \\
PROMPT: Kung Fu Panda 4 felt a little lacking, wanted to try my hand at maybe making it better.
PROMPT BY: Me (ToonMan)
STARTED WRITING: 03/29/2024
Alright, Ground Rules:
Jack Black’s cover of “One More Time” by Britany Spears is amazing, and I will not argue otherwise.
This rewrite is coming from my enjoyment of the series, not just bashing a “bad movie” for the sake of bashing. So, if you’re just here to hate, you’re in the wrong place.
I’m not a professional writer. I only started writing semi-consistently this year. So, take this rewrite with a massive grain of salt.
To make this whole process easier on me, no world-shattering changes.
Zhen’s still gonna be chosen to be Po’s successor
No Furious Five for most of the movie
No killing or reviving characters that don’t originally die or return.
We good? Good. Now, let’s get this party started!
/////
So, the opening fight doesn’t need to change much, save for one thing. Tigress fights alongside Po. Seeing that she’s the only member of the Furious Five to get any development in these movies and has the most chemistry with Po, it makes sense. The two beat…whoever Po fought in the intro (I think it was a stingray that could fly) and have a short dialog after explaining that Tigress, along with the rest of The Five, have moved on from being warriors and transitioned into being teachers/masters of their respective styles.
SIDE NOTE #1: I know that Po and The Five are already masters, but in my head, master sounds like a better term for “teacher” than sensei.
I like this better than having The Five be “on a mission” or whatever excuse was used to keep them from helping Po in this movie. Also, seeing that the main lesson Po needs to learn by the end is to move on from being a warrior, having The Five, his long-time heroes, retire around him helps get that ball rolling.
Po is honestly excited for Tigress and offers to support her however she needs it, just like he does with the rest of The Five. However, Tigress uses this moment to, not so subtly, ask if Po has any plans on doing the same. Po gives a vague, jokey answer before the two walk off into the title screen.
\\\\\
Back in the Valley of Peace, everybody’s celebrating Po at his dads’ noodle shop, but the celebration is interrupted by Shifu summoning Po to the Jade Place.
SIDE NOTE #2: Let me just take this moment to say that while their scenes in the movie do basically nothing for the plot, Ping and Li deserve a short or web series or something. They were seriously a joy to watch every time they were on screen together. #CoParentingGoals
First major change is why Po needs to become a master:
“As the world moves on, so must we. As to stand still is to be left and lost to time.”
Right now, Po is at the top of his game. He’s mastered Kung Fu, led and kinda trained The Five, found inner peace, beaten General Kai, and mastered Ki. However, there will come a day when Po faces a foe he cannot beat, a foe that can challenge Po in a way that he can’t adapt to, as Tai Lung did to Shifu or Kai to Master Ooguay.
Those who become Masters don’t do so because they’re past their prime; they do so because they know the world in which they thrived is coming to an end, and in the new world that follows, their wisdom becomes more needed than their fists. To lose such wisdom could be detrimental to the next generation of heroes. Of course, Po denies that he has any real wisdom to give (aside from food), only seeing his value as the Dragon Warrior. However, Shifu has never been a patient man.
The next day, Po is just messing around the palace when four warriors (No Mr. Beast Pig) attack him. During the fight, Po mocks his would-be assassins by pointing out all their errors. Shifu then stops the fight, explaining that this was a test to prove that Po is more than ready to be a master and to introduce Shifu’s candidates for the new Dragon Warrior.
Still firmly in denial, Po and Shifu go through the Peach Tree Scene the exact same way. The only difference being that when Po notices Zhen breaking in, he thinks she’s another candidate who was late or something.
A broad change I’d make that I can’t really put in writing is just to put a pinch more focus on the fight scene. KFP4 had the most out of the series at seven, but they all felt like an afterthought.
To make Zhen a bit more unique, she’s more of a “fight your surroundings” kind of fighter. She’s never standing still, never uses the same weapon more than twice, and never really fights head-on. Po can claim that she’s not fighting fair, which she’ll laugh at before he locks in and captures her. This fight being short is expected because Po is a Kung Fu legend and should have no problem taking down a random thief.
SIDE NOTE #3: Totally a personal opinion, but did bother anyone else that they named the fox Zhen? Not that the name was bad or anything, but we already have Lord Shen and those names are waaaay too similar…You know what, here’s another change. Zhen is now Vox.
Fast-forward a bit, and the two are now traveling together. Po explains how the Staff of Wisdom can’t be stolen; it must be given, and Po shows Vox genuine kindness and generosity. Vox thinks it’s some kind of long con but accepts it anyway.
The Friendly Bunny goes about the same as it did with Vox being the loot goblin she is, but I don’t want this to be an actual fight. It’s more like Po trying to keep the situation under control. Keep Vox from stealing, protect Vox, protect the helmsman, protect the bunnies, and keep the entire restaurant from falling over.
Instead of getting knocked out of the restaurant like a fool, Po uses his weight to force the patrons away from the exit, and with a mighty leap, Po exits the Friendly Bunny with Vox, the Helmsman, and the bunnies and lands on the boat like a boss. While sailing to Juniper City, Po talks about his dads, but Vox doesn’t share her backstory. Instead, mentioning how the Bunnies were safer at the restaurant.
Introducing the Chameleon and Entering Juniper City goes about the same except that Po and Vox get caught because Vox keeps casually stealing, which she does undetected, but the police only notice when Po is trying to return the stolen goods.
In the Thieves’ Den, Vox isn’t hated, but the vibe is still the same. Everyone casually messing with/ stealing from/ hurting everyone else. They find Han, who says something to the effect of “never thought I’d be seeing you again,” gives them a map of the chameleon’s temple and the scene goes on as usual from there.
/////
Alright, time for a BIG change: The Chameleon’s Motivation/ Plan/ New Name
Every other villain in the Kung Fu Panda movies has an actual name, and if I had the power, Chameleon would be named Tai Zhi for reasons that are probably obvious now but will be explained later.
Tai Zhi’s new backstory is that she was bullied, and all she could do was hide, just camouflage, no shapeshifting yet. Until one day, she learned about Kung Fu. Tai Zhi would find a master, they’d train her for a little bit, then they’d sense how evil she was and kick her out before she could learn anything actually dangerous. She then found a dark master in hopes their similar moral alignment would convince him to train her. Instead, he was the first master who refused her outright, verbally destroying her before threatening her to leave.
Tai Zhi then turned to sorcery for her claim to power but could never let go of Kung Fu. So, she found a way to open a door to the spirit realm, but there was a catch. Equivalent exchange, she’d kidnap citizens of Juniper City and sacrifice them to the spirit realm and get a D+ spirit at best in return. To get around this, she’d need the Staff of Wisdom, and she could get anyone she wanted, no matter how strong.
SIDE NOTE #4: Tai Zhi isn’t collecting the money from the mob bosses for any particular reason. It’s just a power flex. I assume she needed the gold and stuff for her cages, but they never made that clear in the original move. Plus, why would she buy the metal when she can just steal it.
\\\\\
Vox finds Po practicing Kung Fu, and Po offers to teach her. Vox doesn’t believe him, but Po reassures her he’s being 100% honest. He teaches her some basic stuff, and she picks it up pretty fast, and when she doesn’t, Po incorporates what he’s seen Vox do into his lesson. This all leads to a short spar where Vox almost beats Po but gets cocky and loses to a good ole’ fashion belly gong.
Vox questions why Po does what he does: He offers a thief a cookie, saves those who want to kill him, and teaches a thief his own moves. Po opens up about how Oogway chosing him to be the Dragon Warrior changed his life for the better. He’s made friends across all of China, found his biological dad and his people, and saved China at least three times—all just because of one moment.
Because of that, Po believes everyone deserves the same chance, no matter who they are. Those words visibly touch Vox as she almost reveals her big secret before the two are kicked out of the Thieves Den. Po and Vox sneak into Tai Zhi’s lair, and things go about the same. Now for how Tai Zhi met Vox…
Vox had been a thief well into her adult years, and a really good one, but she was tired of stealing, tired of watching over her back every second, tired of not being able to walk the city streets without seeing her face on a wanted poster. Vox wanted a new start where no one would know who she was. The problem was that most people in Juniper City were pretty poor, even the mob bosses, and Vox didn’t feel comfortable forcing someone else into poverty. So, the choice was simple: steal from Tai Zhi. Even one gemstone from her temple would set her up for life.
At the same time, Tai Zhi needed to steal the Staff of Wisdom from the Dragon Warrior, but due to all the stories she’d heard during her research, she didn’t want to risk taking him head-on. She needed a thief, and it just so happens that she knows about the best thief in the city. Tai Zhi sets up a fancy trap to bait Vox, who sees it, knows it’s a trap, but falls for it anyway. However, Vox manages to escape without a scratch until the artifact she stole is revealed to be Tai Zhi in disguise.
Tai Zhi marks Vox with a tracking spell, and while Tai Zhi could care less about Vox, there’s a pretty big bounty on her head. Not to mention, she’s stolen from some pretty powerful people who don’t really care about the reward. All Vox had to do was bring the Dragon Warrior to Tai Zhi, and she’d not only lift the curse but also let Vox take whatever she needed to disappear.
SIDE NOTE #5: I’d have Vox always scratching her neck because that’s where Tai Zhi marked her. She’d just play it off as if she had a flea problem.
Now, I don’t hate the “Villain raises a child to betray the hero” thing. It just doesn’t hit the same in the movie. We’re not given enough time to feel Vox and Po bond in the original movie. Also, if you’re like me and are unable to not analyze movies while watching them, you noticed almost immediately the aztech-esq earring Vox wore and figured out the twist.
Plus, I feel like having Vox be a reluctant thief just trying to get out of the game makes it a little easier to explain how she can betray the Tai Zhi in the end.
Now, I obviously cut the amazing Ping and Li scenes so how does Po not fall to his Death? The answer is simple: watch the Po vs Tai Lung fight again.
Seriously, go watch it. I’ll wait.
Done? Pretty awesome, right?!
Anyway, we can have Po swing from tree branches while fighting the lizard soldiers until he hits solid ground, or we can re-do KFP2 and have him fall into a river or large body of water. Back at the temple, Tai Zhi and Vox go through with the ceremony, and we’re keeping the bit about the blood moon—it’s honestly the funniest joke in the entire movie! Now, for the big reveal I set up a while back.
/////
Tai Zhi summons Tai Lung from the spirit realm and calls him “Master.” Before he was freed in KFP1, Zhi broke into Chorn-Gom Prison to free Tai Lung in exchange for training. Instead, Tai Lung verbally destroys her, insulted that Zhi would ever believe he needed her help. Maybe even have him almost brute force his way through his restraints just to scare her.
After Tai Lung’s death, Zhi took the “Tai” part of his name to never forget how weak and powerless Tai Lung made her feel. She steals Tai Lung’s skills and proceeds to wail on the guy, maybe even paying homage to the end of the Tai Lung vs Shifu fight, before throwing him into a cage.
Tai Zhi then releases Vox from the tracking spell and gives her a choice:
“Stay by my side and witness my rule or help yourself to however much treasure you can hold, find the farthest, darkest corner of the planet, and pray I overlook you.”
Then we cut back to Po at the bottom of the temple for the Po vs Vox scene. The only change I’d make here is just making the fight longer, showing off how much Vox has learned on this journey as well as how outclassed she is compared to Po.
Vox reveals that she is gonna to run away, and wants Po to come with her to help save as many people as they can. Po refuses but is proud of Vox and her mission, saying that if he can’t beat Tai Zhi, he’ll buy as much time as he can for Vox to escape with her people.
While Po goes Assassin’s Creed on the temple guards, Vox returns to the thieves' den and tries to convince the criminals to do the right thing because “it’s the right thing to do.” When that fails, she reminds them that if Tai Zhi is taken down, they can loot all the treasure stored in her temple.
\\\\\
As the army of thieves goes to war with the temple guards, Vox sneaks in after Po. Inside, Po sneaks around as Tai Zhi fights General Kai, noticing other warriors and Lord Shen. He’s then stopped by Tai Lung, who’s disappointed in Po and remarks how Oogway may have been wrong in the end.
Kai loses and is thrown in a cage as Po makes his dramatic entrance. Tai Zhi gives the staff back and does her “you and I aren’t so different” monolog, which Po acknowledges. There’s a possibility he could have ended up like Tai Zhi if he never became the dragon warrior (Throw in one of his villains laughing in disbelief), so he offers Tai Zhi a chance to be better than the villain she is now, to learn from him.
Tai Zhi then proceeds to mock Lord Shen, General Kai, and Tai Lung about how Po stopped all of them from achieving their goals. The mocks Po, claiming that for all the good he did, for all his adventures, no one in Juniper City and beyond has ever heard about him and that once she’s done with him, Po will become what he was always meant to be, nothing.
-OR-
Have Tai Zhi call Po weak because he needed a master to make him the Dragon Warrior. Just to have the line, “Alone I mastered magic, took over the entire criminal empire of Juniper City, defeated all of your greatest enemy and treasured masters, I am my own master!”
Now, something about the original Po vs Tai Zhi fight bothered me. Across three movies, over and over again, there’s always a moment where Po gets to nerd out over Kung Fu legends and flex his knowledge. He even figured out the Wuxi Finger Hold on his own. Yet, he’s going one on one with the ultimate echo fighter of those same warriors and his knowledge does nothing to help him. Let’s fix that.
Here’s how this fight could have gone: Tai Zhi changes into a warrior, Po does his nerd bit while caught off guard, but he then picks up on the fighting style and proceeds to body Tai Zhi in record time. Rinse and repeat that a few times and then Tai Zhi tries to use Po’s old villains which backfires horribly. Eventually, she runs out of warriors and must repeat, and with transformations getting predictable, Po starts winning the fight. Until…
Tai Zhi's frustrated that she has the forms and skills of at least one hundred kung fu legends, but she can’t beat one dorky panda. In that frustration, she loses control of her shapeshifting and mixes two forms together, catching Po off guard. Tai Zhi then starts using chimera forms to gain the advantage, but before she can deal the finishing blow, Vox swoops in and saves Po.
The two hatch a plan to make Tai Zhi so mad that she loses control long enough for Po to use the Staff of Wisdom to return the stolen skills. The plan starts to work as Tai Zhi turns into that chimera dragon form, but before Po can use his staff, Tai Zhi grabs Vox, forcing Po to save her by making Tai Zhi crash.
In the aftermath, Vox finds Tai Zhi transformed into Po, and we could have a short chase before the real Po saves Vox. Po has Vox find and bring him the staff while he fights himself, which does not go well at all. Tai Zhi traps Po in a cage before Vox can get the staff back to him.
Vox is now the only one who can stop Tai Zhi. Vox tries to fight Tai Zhi head-on like Po but fails miserably. However, Vox notices that the entire temple is fit to collapse. So, Vox sticks to the shadows, taking potshots at Tai Zhi, and every time she transforms, whoever she transforms into tells her their weakness/ tell from their cage. This continues until the temple starts to collapse, and as Tai Zhi tries to escape, Vox fights her head-on again to keep her inside (this is where she’d scream, “You fool! You’ll kill us both!”).
As the dust settles, Po stands up from under the rubble and helps Vox up, noting that he could have escaped earlier but she was doing such a good job and didn’t want to interrupt. The other spirit warriors get from under the rubble and thank Po for freeing them. As Po prepares to open a portal to the spirit realm, let’s say Master Wolf tries to sneak attack Po from behind but gets decked by Tai Lung, transforming back into Tai Zhi.
Tai Lung mocks his wannabe successor by saying; “first lesson, know when to quit.” Tai Lung then steps out of the way, and Po returns all of the skills to the spirit warriors. As they return to the spirit realm, Tai Lung acknowledges Po and what he’s become and also recognizes his “pupil,” referring to Vox. Not wanting to be outshined, though, he takes Tai Zhi with him into the spirit world, finally taking her on as his student, whether she likes it or not.
And the story ends basically the same: Vox and Po return to the Valley of Peace, Po offers to train Vox at the Jade Palace to Shifu’s frustration, and credits.
/////
Wait! One more change…
Shifu meditates under the peach tree with Po joining him shortly after that. Po can’t meditate to save his life, so Shifu questions why he’s here. Po admits that Shifu was right, that it’s time for Po to pass the torch, but also thanks Shifu. Po knows it wasn’t easy for Shifu to train someone like him, but he did, and because of Shifu, Po has never been happier with his life.
I don’t know if this will be the last Kung Fu Panda movie, but if it is, I’d like a nice moment between Shifu and Po and maybe ghost Oogway. Just wrap a nice bow on it.
///// The End \\\\\
And that’s it—that’s the rewrite. Wow! That’s a lot of words (3,573, to be exact). Like I said, I’m not a scriptwriter. I’m just a guy with a little too much time on his hands. Kung Fu Panda 4 was, and still is, a solid movie that I’ll definitely watch again, along with the other three, and so should you.
I had a total blast writing this, and I hope you enjoyed reading it.

So I made the mistake of watching the hbomberguy plagiarism video. I don't know why, because I kinda hate him and his entire shtick and his entire sanpaku-eyed desperate style of presentation that screams "please think I'm smart and that I am a moral cool guy who does good things!"
Anyways, the dumb fuck kinda missed the mark by a mile and the urgency and drama he tries to invoke amounts to being very angry that some people have made careers out of regurgitating other people's work. There's a few reasons why, but let's set this right up front: Yes, plagiarism is bad. It's a terrible thing to steal someone else's work, pass it off as your own, and then try to weasel out of it when caught. It's also an extremely stupid thing to do, especially if your job is writing reviews or giving your own opinions on some piece of media and plagiarism leads to reciting factually incorrect information.
That said, there's a few assertions and implications in this retardedly long video that stuck out to me and I want to talk, at length, about them. That these people have made a lot of money and are therefore bad. That citations or crediting sources would have changed something. That people careers have been damaged or somehow denied big piles of money because they were plagiarized.
Making a lot of money seems more like a vague sort of "rich people bad" but it's such a hollow assertion to make. Youtube financially incentivizes content creation or a certain type, quantity, and regularity. The algorithm is a slot machine. Ad revenue is just money on the table, and if someone disables the ad revenue on their videos, youtube runs ads anyways and the channel just doesn't get any of the money generated. As for stuff like patreon and parasocial simp behavior, you can't really stop people from doing what they want with their money. Hasan Piker became a millionaire because retards like throw money at him to watch other people's youtube videos and occasionally say the dumbest shit imaginable. If we could stop people from watching, let alone financially supporting dipshits, we would, but we can't. Being mad that they're making money from is just petty, especially if the implication is that being rich makes someone evil and bad, but at the same time, wishing that other people whom Hbomberguy ideologically jive with should be the rich ones instead. It's moronic.
It sounds reductive to just say "don't hate the player, hate the game" because the sort of shameless scumbags who will eagerly plagiarize and openly steal other people's work are detestable. I don't want the takeaway here to be that I think they are harmless or absolved of guilt. The problem is simply something far larger than youtube or social media. It's something that is not caused by the temptation of getting easy money from stealing ideas, but something that is inherent in the sorts of opportunistic scumbags that have always existed all throughout human history. Trying to shame them or expose them can only accomplish so much when they are already shameless to begin with.
Moving on to the value of citations, aside from being a genuinely nice and professional thing to do, it would not meaningfully change the profitability of content mill channels who largely use other people's work to rapidly produce videos faster than a real writer/researcher could script them. At most, it would add a slight bit more runtime and put more text in the very easy to ignore "about" section of a video, which would never get seen by 99% of viewers. Trying to impose some sort of labor speedbump by demanding citations and credits won't meaningfully stop these people from profiting off other people's work at a speed honest creators couldn't match anyways because they've been burdened by a sense of self-respect and honesty.
Furthermore, properly cited credit will not divert viewers and fans towards monetarily supporting the sources, nor encourage the diehards on patreon to stop donating. Youtube will still give the payout for the views and clicks and engagement on a video that can be 100% regurgitated, copied content, cited or not, regardless.
Additionally, the reasons people watch certain youtubers and types of content is often totally divorced from any thoughts about academic ethics. Most of the time, the audience doesn't even care because that doesn't even factor into their enjoyment of some background noise video or hearing a youtuber they like talk about something they might be mildly interested in.
Not to mention that there are countless successful youtubers who making a living reading reddit posts, reciting lore from fan wikis, reading 4chan greentexts in funny voices, or just "reacting" to other people's videos, just literally reading things other people have written word for word. This is content that is both directly cited and stuff that has no author to credit or cite at all but is still stolen. Despite knowing the content is stolen, uncited, plagiarized, etc, people watch them anyways and ad revenue payout happens regardless. There's functionally no difference, credited or not, but one is seemingly permissible because it's open about using other people's writing or research or ideas.
Is it a huge fucking problem that is turning the internet into a terrible place? Absolutely, but it wouldn't make a fucking difference if they cited the content they were reposting, because the core problem is actually the way youtube and other social media sites tell people they'll pay them for generating that sludge content, even if it's stolen, reposted, or purposefully made in a way to abuse the algorithm.
The last point I feel like covering is the idea that the specific plagiarists are denying money and career advancement to others by stealing from them. The implication being that because someone thinks the guy who makes awful video essays about Disney and Queerness who lifts his scripts almost 100% from books he never credits, the writers of those authors are being denied money and their careers as "voices of the queer community" or whatever, have been kneecapped because one other guy took all the credit. Implying that they would be the recipients of all the success, money, and career growth that Queer Plagiarist man, and others, have gained if they hadn't be plagiarized from.
This is moronic for a number of reasons, most of which I've already discussed. The most obvious reason being that they are often competing in completely different areas. The audiences giving clicks and views to the plagiarist aren't making the choice between purchasing a book or watching a youtuber. Published books aren't listed in youtube searches or recommendations.
People can both read books and watch youtube videos, if they want, but clicking on a youtube video isn't at all the same as shopping around to decide which creator is the most ethical and deserving of any sort of financial compensation. Even if the books were cited and listed, at most it amounts to a few sales, if any. However, the supposed outrage is the lack of citation and credit, not that we should be demanding promotion and advertising from youtubers or that every quotation or idea lifted from someone else needs to come with a proportional amount of reimbursement
If it's an article instead, like the case with the 'Man in Cave' video, there's nothing being sold and and the youtuber's career maintains the same trajectory, even if clearly cited and credited, still gains the same audience, the same patreon donors etc. At best, the article might get a few more clicks, so the outrage there is that some clickbait factoid site like Mental Floss didn't collect more ad revenue of its own, which is especially interesting since most of what Mental Floss does is repost articles from other sites with a little link at the bottom that shows you they didn't write shit. Fancy that.
But there's also this direct assertion that other people making similar content about, for example, queerness in Disney media are being denied the fame and success they rightfully deserve because someone else got more popular by being a plagiarist. While there may be a finite amount of time in the world for people to watch youtube videos about stupid bullshit, it is not so finite that it is an all or not situation. People can subscribe to more than one person about a given subject. One person being successful through plagiarism does not exclude anyone else from also being successful on their own merits. If they aren't successful, you can blame the algorithm, lack of interest, or the quality of their actual work.
A similar implication is that if someone were properly recognized for their work through being credited on a video that gets millions of views, that more job offers or interviews or some kind of improvement to their general socioeconomic status would be dropped in their lap. That may be true in matters of outright content theft where a relatively unknown creator loses all views and clicks on something that got stolen by a bigger channel, but not when we're talking about someone who already had a book publishing deal or peer reviewed research.
This kind of echoes the first point about money, but with popularity instead. Impotently whining that someone else got famous when what he wants is for someone better, less objectionable, to get the popularity... and I think that's what's really at the core of hbomberguy's stupidly long video (and this stupidly long rant). He only wants people he likes to be successful and is upset that he can't take that away from them. Plagiarism is just a convenient moral cudgel to wield and a convenient way to whip up his simple minded fans into another witch hunt.
If you go and check Internet Historian's latest video, you can see a significant amount of dislikes, and the comments section is full of people screaming about plagiarism and Tommy Tallarico, who was another target of hbomberguy's obnoxiously elaborate bullshit previously. There's no chance in hell that these people are actually outraged that mentalfloss wasn't properly credited, but they love that sensational self-righteous high they get from joining the latest angry mob whipped up by famous internet smart guy and maker of pretentious videos, hbomberguy.
Now, where does that leave us after all of that shit I just wrote? Well, if there's anything to take away, it's to understand that there are shameless, opportunistic scumbags out there who are constantly looking for their chance to exploit a system for personal gain. Not just on youtube, but everywhere. Crypto. Life coach sigma male shit. Politics. Twitter engagement farming. etc etc. As long as their behavior can be rewarded, they will continue doing it. So get better about spotting it and learn to block, filter, and excise it from whatever feeds you use and expect the same of your friends.
When it comes to the creators you follow, hold certain standards, but know that there is a limit to the moral purity you can expect from them. For most of the big ones out there, the goal is to make money. You can demand proper citations and such from all of them, but then they'll go and take a sponsorship deal from Established titles or Better help or some NFT scam, and that's exponentially worse than presenting information in a way that may making the audience incorrectly assume they've done exhaustive research on a topic when they're just quoting someone else.
And lastly: stop watching Hbomberguy. He's a sanctimonious retard.

Hi! I know it hasn't been too long since my last ask about Sebastian and Ciel's manner of addressing each other (and I don't mean to clog your inbox, so don't feel pressured to reply quickly), but the question just came to me randomly – what do you think was going through Sebastian’s head when he let Ciel get shot in the finale of Season 1?
Ciel's blood forms their contract seal, the scene reflects their first meeting, he spends the rest of the episode bleeding out, and dies with perfect timing at the edge of the bridge etc. etc. It's beautiful, poetic, and I absolutely love everything it represents – this final reignition of their pact, the end of all things. It's perfect for the plot and the show.
But regardless of why the writers made this choice (to have him be shot, I mean), I've always wondered why Sebastian sat and let it happened. He could've stopped the bullet with ease, and made a dramatic reappearance just as well. We know how much he hates the idea of Ciel sustaining physical injury, so what was his state of mind? Why did he choose to wait? Did he feel fury at the guards afterwards? Feel conflicted about his actions? He didn't seem too fazed by the wound when he approached Ciel – was it because he was anticipating the end? Or intoxicated by Ciel's blood? By his darkness? His willingness to die fighting?
It's something I struggle to understand in my head. It makes perfect sense from a distance but when I try to examine it closely, I can't seem to unravel the tangle of thoughts that must've lead him to do such a thing.
Once again, I wish you and your family all the best
Hi! Oh, no problem, you know I love your asks, you always have such brilliant insights and thoughts about Ciel and Sebastian.
I think the conflicted feelings about letting Ciel get shot definitely came to haunt Sebastian later. I think the more he thought about it and remembered it, the more bothered he felt, to the point where it became one of the moments he'd rather scratch from his memory.
In that specific scene, though, I think Sebastian was torn between his absolutely insane, unprecedented decision to let Ciel off the hook by not taking his soul, letting him choose his path & enter afterlife, and a burning need for Ciel to change his mind and call for him.
When Ciel began to hesitate and stopped Sebastian from killing the Queen in France, Sebastian sensed that something is wrong. He realized that Ciel started to have doubts as to whether he needs his revenge, and despite his frustration, disappointment, even heartbreak, he chose to honor this new wish. Instead of killing Ciel like he could for manipulating the contract, he wished him happiness and left. He gave Ciel a chance to change his destiny. Sure, Sebastian knew that Ciel was very unlikely to live long like this: without help, with very powerful people and a bloodthirsty anger wanting his death, his days were numbered. But if this was what he wanted, Sebastian was prepared to stand aside.
He watched Ciel nearly die upon his arrival to London, in the fire - and I just love how sad and quiet he is there, how obsessively he watches Ciel, how he's still astonished and admiring him. He tried to stick to his more than generous decision in the palace, too: yes, Ciel was about to die, he got shot, but his death would be relatively quick, and then he'd be able to pass on and reunite with his loved ones. I'm sure it was extremely difficult for Sebastian to not react, but he was honoring Ciel's new wish, even if he despised it.
But when Ciel called for him… well, he didn't actually call physically, but he thought of Sebastian and it was strong enough for the seal to come to life. This was the order Sebastian needed, what he craved and hoped for. He looked unbothered and downright intoxicated because he was thrilled that Ciel woke up and chose him and their contract, in the end, that their game wasn't over, that they still had their last adventure ahead. Despite Ciel's wound, Sebastian was ridiculously happy because he had him back. At least this is how I always read this scene.

hello! this is a prompt for your drabble thing:
maybe tails and knuckles are hanging out on angel island and tails is getting increasingly frustrated with a project hes brought with him
but all knuckles can think is 'damn, this little guy is adorable when angry' (all i can think is the tails pouting sprite from the murder game) - hes fluffy and tiny!! a little angry guy
and ofc tails hates being called cute, so this makes him pout angrier
if that makes sense? i absolutely adore your works, you're my favourite tails centric writer so i hope you're able to get better soon <3
word count-714
-----------------
Knuckles took a deep breath, enjoying the clear air. He closed his eyes and leaned against the Master Emerald.
It was refreshing, especially since he and the others had just gotten home from another adventure.
The echidna was more than happy to be back home. Soaking in the Master Emerald’s warmth, listening to all the critters playing around on the island, etc.
It was perfect.
“Ow, dangit!”
Too bad perfect things don’t last forever.
Knuckles peaked an eye open and looked over at the steps of the shrine, watching as the fox stuck the side of his finger into his mouth.
“Everything okay, bud?” He called, watching as one of the big ears flicked before swiveling towards him, showing that the younger was listening to him.
“Yeah,” Tails grumbled after pulling his finger after his mouth, “this stupid thing just clipped me.”
The echidna hummed before walking over to the kit, taking a seat next to him. He was working on repairing the Miles Electric, it had gotten destroyed during their adventure.
Knuckles hadn’t seen the kid that sad in a while.
Tails glanced over for a second before returning to what he was doing, getting lost once again in his work.
Watching the younger work amused Knuckles. He didn’t understand a single thing he was doing, but it was still interesting to watch.
Tails’ movements were so fluent, so confident. With the way he worked, the echidna was sure he could repair the damned thing blindfolded and with an arm tied behind his back.
Well, until the kit groaned and slammed the tablet on the ground beside him, glaring at it.
Knuckles blinked in surprise, not having expected the small outburst.
“What was–” He started, but stopped when Tails’s ears folded against his head as he looked away from the Miles Electric with a pout.
They sat in silence for a minute. Mostly because Knuckles had no idea how to react to that.
“Uh,” He leaned forward slightly to try and make eye contact, but the younger just turned away and crossed his arms, “are you–”
“I’m fine.” Tails mumbled, one of his namesakes curling around to rest on his lap, “Just frustrated.”
Knuckles thought on it for a second before nodding, showing he understood. He should probably leave the kid alone for a while.
But..
“I’d never thought I’d say this,” He started, smiling a little when he saw the other’s ears flick, “but I just realized I do agree with something Sonic has said.”
Tails’ brow furrowed before he turned to look up at the older, “What?”
The smile on Knuckles’ face quickly turned into a smirk, “You’re adorable when you’re angry.”
He barely kept himself from snorting as he watched the younger’s expression change as he finally registered what the echidna said.
“What?!” Tails’s cheeks flushed, but Knuckles wasn’t sure if it was because he was embarrassed or frustrated, “I am not!”
“Mm..” Knuckles hummed, shaking his head, “that’s what I had thought before. I didn’t think it was possible to look cute when mad, but you’ve proved me wrong.”
“I–” The kit went to argue, but bailed, deciding to turn and hide his face away in his tails. The older let out a soft chuckle, letting his hand gently rub his back.
“It’s nothing to be embarrassed over.” He said, “it could be a useful manipulation tactic.”
“I think I prefer you and Sonic fighting because of stupid stuff over this.” Tails grumbled, muffled by his namesakes.
“If you’re trying to change my mind, this isn’t helping.” Knuckles smirked at the glare he received from the younger.
“I thought I could trust you not to do this type of thing, Knuckles!” Tails whined, his ears drooping, “I already have to hear this from Sonic and Amy!”
“Sorry to have disappointed you, little one, but your cuteness was too much for me.” The fox groaned, dropping his head into his hands.
The echidna laughed and pulled the younger to his side, patting his shoulder a few times. They sat in the same position for roughly five minutes before Tails sighed and leaned into the other, wrapping his namesakes around the two of them.
Knuckles smiled at him, but didn’t say anything. He figured the fox was embarrassed enough for one day.

Propaganda why Marinette Dupain-Cheng is insufferable:
She easily gets away with bad, stalkerish behavior, it always feels like she can ‘do no wrong’ unless the show wants us to pity her, and the show writers want us to think she is a quirky and socially awkward girl when throughout the series we see her be friends with basically everyone in Paris with many connections to high up places.
I get she has social anxiety but the way she goes about stalking Adrien is kind of the worst like she even has creep shots of him hanging in her room? That’s weird. I think Adrien’s going through enough without having to deal with the main character being his stalker lol. I know they’re (spoilers) at this point but in the beginning it was so sus
In the newest season, Marinette hides the fact that Hawkmoth was Adrien’s dad. This leads to the bastard getting a statue and honored as a hero after his death. Adrien now never gets to know the fact that his abusive and neglectful father was the one trying to kill him and is instead proud of him.
Her crush on Adrien is like a black hole for her character. Things she’s done because of it:
1) stolen property
2) ruined dates
3) humiliated other characters
4) has a chart of Adrien’s daily schedule for the next year in her room (this is stalking)
5) broke into his room and sniffed his pillow (also a crime)
6) sniffed, took the hair from, and tried to kiss what she thought was a wax statue of Adrien
7) convinced her parents to let her go to China. Why? Not because she wants to connect with her mother’s heritage, not even because she’s a budding fashion designer and Shanghai is considered a fashion hotspot. It’s because Adrien was there.
shes annoyinng anf shes a stalker
I love fanon miraculous but by god she has got to stop obsessively stalking her crush and generally making a ton of other terrible decisions. I’d submit Adrien too but he’s more of a deuteragonist
I started the show, watched one episode, and never tried again. I simply do not vibe with her.
More propaganda
Anti propaganda
Propaganda why Katarina Claes is insufferable:
Irredeemably stupid. The story frames it as her 17 year old mind waking up in Katarina’s 8 year old body. Yet she is still even more of an idiot than all of the actual 8 year olds in the story and shows no growth over the next ten years. At one point, all the other main characters defend her from accusations of bullying by saying she’s too stupid to have been able to do it.
Also, the Verge of Destruction side story was much better than the original series because her fears of banishment and running out of time made sense.
1) She’s an idiot, and not even in a funny way. One of my pet peeves in isekai is when the MC refuses to recognize when the story has changed. Her whole thing is that she keeps prepping for when she gets banished. But, she’s not going to be banished because she took care of all the problems when she was like 6. Bad relationship with fiancé? Fixed. Bad relationship with family? Fixed. Bullying? Prevented.
2) The harem is ridiculous. The people in love with her: her fiancé, her fiancé’s brother, her fiancé’s brother’s fiancée, her childhood friend, her adoptive brother, 2 dark mages, and etc. (There may be more, but I stopped reading after one of the dark mages kidnapped her then got away scotch free).
3) If you want a good dumbass MC trapped as the villainess of a dating game read “Observation Record of a Self-proclaimed Villainess’ Fiancé”.
Guy who kidnapped her pins her down and puts his face against her neck. She then feels a pinch and notices a bruise/hickey on her neck in the mirror. Her response was “Oh! A bug bit me and he was just trying to get it off :D how nice of him.” I hate the oblivious to sexual harassment trope.

Chuuu - for your ask game! 🍬,🧩 & 🌿?
hello !! thank you for stopping by ehehe <33
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
i think i have commented on this a while back, but i disagree with the opinion that gojo and geto would willingly share everything just because they're besties. an anon made a really great argument about how geto is overshadowed by gojo's power and hence why they're actually some kind of rivals too in a sense so there's a low chance for it (again, no hate towards those who support the opposite opinion! we're free to believe whichever truth, i'm just stating mine!)
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
extreme case of ooc :')) honestly i can't really stand it if someone rewrite a character with a new personality, because in most cases it's going to feel so cringey. it takes advanced writing skills to make it an enjoyable read and so far i can only think of one writer who can nail ooc so very well
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
believe it or not... i get writer's block almost every week AHAHAH :') yes i'm yowaimo everyone😭 (do you know how long wedding anniversary has been rotting in my drafts? two months. i've drafted it since january🥲 this is why i can't make a fic schedule bc my mood changes daily and i can switch from wip to wip according to my mood😭) usually, i'm writing short drabbles/hcs based on requests that i don't put in the tags to cope with it, but when i'm so drained, i look at tiktok to find inspiration🥹 or watch netflix/manhwas. usually netflix works best bc you'll be inspired by the lines!

It's so insane to me that there was ever even a suggestion that Eggman would stop being a villain after Frontiers. Like no sane person would ever come to that conclusion after playing that game, there is literally zero material to even suggest that. And yet it was just crazy take after crazy take, people saying "time skip" this and "Eggman will be softened by Sage's presence" that and it's like bitch where? I don't even know what to attribute it too beyond the usual, these people just hate Sonic
I knooow, I still feel like a dumbass myself for not properly getting it for a while just because of what a mass majority of the fandom was saying based on leaks and jumping to the wildest conclusions. With so many stating it like absolute fact, I didn't even consider it not being the case and it killed all my interest and hype, ruined my first experience with the game, and made me not even bother to pay attention and analyze to make sense of it the first playthrough. But to my defense I literally wasn't mentally okay for a multitude of reasons that year then that destroyed the last straw of my sanity and rational thinking at the time so lol
But hey I've learned to avoid and ignore the entire fandom's opinions until I've experienced it myself and actually thought about it carefully and analyzed it properly to make sure they never have a say or influence in my perception of it ever again and things have gotten so much better! And yeah it was crazy how eye opening a few explanations and a second playthrough of the game was for me, when I actually paid attention and didn't believe that all the desires and wishful thinking that the fandom projected onto it were genuinely true. There were no hints to Eggman's character massively changing and being ruined whatsoever.
How the tables have turned that I'm now obsessed with and thinking about and analyzing it constantly and want to help people understand it. I now wish more people would realize how great Eggman's portrayal in it was but not for all the reasons those that claim to like it are saying because those reasons don't actually exist. XD It's so much better when you realize that the game is actually what I want out of Eggman (for him to just be who he's always been) and to no longer entertain people's made up ideas about it over the facts by acting like it's true because it's not. There's so much fun to be had and things to like for what it really is.
It was instead just a really cool exploration of his already existing characteristics that he's always had and how they affect and play a part in writing him in situations he's never been in before, further developing those aspects further without changing a single thing about him at all. Proving he can be deep, complex, and require some real thought and analysis to understand despite his simplicity as a character in terms of personality and motives. It actually just proves you don't need to change anything about him to explore interesting themes and that he has tons of potential the way he is. It's actually great how there's so much to analyze and think about.
A whole lot of the fan speculation and theories about this game directly contradict the actual events of the game, actions of the characters, and even the writer commentary. And with each piece of official media that has been releasing since, it's been proving it more and more in various blatantly obvious and undeniable ways. And in Eggman's case I realize I shouldn't have even been surprised since most of the people that were so adamant that he was changing drastically into someone else literally don't like him being evil and a villain and admitted that, so there is absolutely truth to that. They let personal bias and desires affect how they saw it.
I'm really happy that in the end the game canon really just further solidified his already existing characteristics and explored the scope of them in a fun new way and only proved that they can stand the test of all new experiences he has lol. It really just showcased all the things I love about him in a different way besides his usual active villainy and then went right back to that after it was done in all official media since and it has me looking forward to the future of his character with many more interesting things to analyze and think about and classic entertaining villainy to enjoy 🥰💜

since i’m full of hatred and negativity i will be answering this
(to emphasize Like these are just nuances and inconsistencies i’ve found with myself and the fandom Like genuinely idrgaf i could care less about any of the points i will make in retrospect)
the anthropomorphization of unpleasant from this fandom has genuinely WRECKED its character and made it. not that unique compared to the other npcs. like i dont know it being this like fucking gooner-type character is so awful? and i really hate it? if anything that trope given to unpleasant should have stayed with scag and ended with her, since she’s a genuine npc with more writing and thoughts attached
Tumblr media
i saw people bring up this point again and im glad but HELLO!!!!! LETS STOP JUST ASSOCIATING LAMPERT AS WALLTER AND MARK'S SON? EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN DISCREDITED /MULTIPLE/ TIMES? like DAMN this fandom only attributes characteristics if it is attached to literally anyone else besides that person. its horrible. people NEED to learn to find the balance between having fun with that headcanon while also acknowledging lampert as his own separate person that is (to be quite frank) not even associated with them that much in canon
(+ people saying that the headcanon of lampert being wallmark's son is canon and fucking REPLYING saying to people who ship wallter & lampert or mark & lampert that they shouldn't. you are fucking embarrassing)
more of a fandom thing but yall ship too much lmfaoo. like guys i promise, you can interpret some of these relationships as genuine friendships i promise you'll live. can we stop with the rhetoric that just because two characters have good dynamics with each other that means that theyre in love (heavily side-eyeing protoscag and lampfected and milby dare i say)
the regretevator fandom is EXACTLY like the phighting fandom with how shipping is handled. i mean this in not a positive way
people gotta stop relying on the wiki for information man. so much lore from yeucc's tumblr has been retconned and at this point, when there's now WRITERS for the game that are actually keeping tabs, all if not the good majority of what is said on the wiki should be taken with a grain of salt. nowadays the lore is unpredictable, and only a select few (by few i mean like. 4 out of the 17 npcs) has had their lore expanded on significantly
general facts i think is fine so long as theres an annotation backing it but my point still stands . moreso with lore generally
also saw this point being brought up in the qrts but the demonization and infantilization of certain characterss (cough spud pilby pest and poob) is like. wild. i dunno i can't say much since i'm very fortunate enough to not have seen that much but my god is it prevalent from what people are saying
with pest especially since he has npd and aspd i do think that. people generally associating him as evil has NOT been the greatest thing, especially since it reduces him to a stigma of people with personality disorders which is horrific and terrifying. idk what goes on in the background but i feel like the fandom + yeucc & the people working on regretevator should have done more research on the disorders and consulted people who do have these issues better instead of using those labels haphazardly
another thing i will and always will be vocal (dog on) about the axosun team is them keeping gnarpy. like there was no reason to keep xem in other than for revenue gain let's be honest and True to ourselves. the philosophy "ohh but you can separate the art from the artist!!!!" i feel does not really apply to this scenario cause xe got a whole ass revamp despite the obvious fact that it STILL is gnarpy, a character created by a bad person regardless of the ownership change and discredited history. its the underlying thought that they were essentially built off a bad origin if this makes any sense. idk i think it wouldve been better for everyone if xe were just removed ENTIRELY from the game but. you do you i guess
lastly in this essay: i think more people should Be Kinder to each other in this fandom <3 peace and love

What would you do to make the fandom better?
How long do you have? lol No, seriously, I don't know what I can do to make the fandom "better" for two reasons:
"Better" likely has a different definition for each user, and
I can only control ME. I have no control over anything else, so what can I do? Very little. But you used the word "would," so I'm going with hypotheticals here. Let's call it my wish list.
It's long. Sorry. You asked. :)
Remove the anon feature. Yep. 100% GONE. Sure, some people are shy and don't want to say things publicly. But this is a place where the good doesn't outweigh the bad. The shit people feel they have the right to do and say because they can hide their identity is mind-boggling. Anon-hate is as pathetic as it is horrific. It's hurtful. It makes you start second guessing and questioning everything - your ability as a writer, your worth as a person, WHO is sending this to you - everyone is a suspect. Then there is another fun thing, newbies... people sending anon-hate disguised to make it appear that it's sent by someone else. The games and bullshit people play here are mind-boggling. No one came here for this. But these people are a bunch of cowards who wouldn't dare say these things publicly. So, yeah, I'd rid us of the anon feature.
Check your egos. Be a good person. Get over yourself. It's not all about you. It never was, and it never will be. Creating is a very personal thing, and everyone will have their own interpretations of characters, stories, etc. And that's OK. It's not a personal attack on you if they see things differently than you. You get to choose if you read/interact. Oh, and if someone doesn't read or interact with you, you don't get to pout about it. They may just be doing the mature thing by just not interacting with something that isn't for them - or maybe they're not... more on this later. Some writers, stories, and styles will be more popular. They may be writers, stories, and styles you don't like. And that's OK. This is life. If you see there is one approach that is more popular, and notes are all that matter to you, then change your approach. Give the people what they want. But if you're here for the joy of creating, then create and do what you want to do and ENJOY it. Yes, trust me, I know it sucks to pour your heart into something and then see it get minimal interaction. But to get angry at others for it - and that happens here all the time - is absurd, and it turns toxic fast.
Interaction. What makes Tumblr better than other fandom platforms, in my opinion? The social interaction. What makes it worse than other platforms? The social interaction. Tumblr is not A03. It's not drop a fic and disappear. It's active, dynamic, and social, and, in a small fandom that grows smaller, that aspect has diminished, and it leaves people feeling sad, lonely, unappreciated, angry, and a host of other things. We need an etiquette list, and the problem is, sometimes the advice is contradictory. Take reblogging/Commenting etc. A big issue in the fandom. Does anyone owe you a reblog/comment/like? No. Does a writer have to reply to a reader's comment? No. Should you feel obligated to do either of these things? No. But... Do you like it when people reblog your work? Do you feel good when you acknowledge someone, and they consistently ignore you? Will you miss your favorite creators if they see no engagement and decide to stop? Will you miss your readers if they decide to stop following you because you consistently ignore them? It's a 2-way street, and if you don't want to live on a 2-way street, then maybe this isn't the best platform for you. No one is REQUIRED to create. No one is REQUIRED to read. No one is REQUIRED to comment/interact in either direction - but some decency and respect will go a long way to keeping our fandom alive. This is common sense, people.
Stop playing games. I have had people tell me that they have read a ton of my work but never interacted. These are creators who know the value of interaction. I asked one (and no, I will not share names), and they said, "You were getting too many notes already." I had another tell me something very similar (early on), and they said, "I had to pay my dues first." Excuse me? If I read and love a fic, do I wait to see what its note count will be to determine if they are "worthy" of my interaction? Am I supposed to wait to see if the number of notes will impact my ego before I engage? If it is from someone who has written 2 works, I'm not supposed to refrain from celebrating them because there are "dues" to pay? Are we in Kindergarten? BUT THIS SHIT IS REAL AND HAPPENS MORE THAN YOU KNOW. "I don't interact with their work because they are friends with x, but OMG it is so good." "I used to read her work, but I don't anymore because she doesn't read mine." "I'm pissed off because she doesn't interact with my work anymore." "Do you ever interact with hers?" "No." "Do you see an issue?" Silence... How about this? How about reading a fic and, even if it's not the best thing you've ever read, even if you don't adore it... leave a freaking ❤️ because someone took their time to write a work and shared it with you. Leave a little comment - to show encouragement. It's not a horrible thing to do. How about interacting with people who will NOT benefit you. It's not a game of "well, if I like this one, then they will be loyal. If I RB this one, they will RB me." Just do it because it's a decent thing to do. How about ineracting with people who are NOT in your friend group? Right now, we're a fandom of about 30 - we should ALL be each other's friend group - I like that shit - that's getting posted separately because I am silently judging you if you have read all of this. But hey, the question was asked. The bottom line is that sometimes people can't read/comment/create because there is life outside. But I'm not a newbie anymore, and I've seen it all. The politics of deciding who will interact with whom and why is equal parts comical and sad - but it's real. I've done my best to interact with all. I have not done as much recently and have gotten anons asking why. Some were quite entitled and really pissed me off. Some seemed genuine. Truth is, I've been dealing with a lot in real life - work has been busy, personal life has been crazy - it's been really hard. It doesn't always afford me the time. And it takes time - and takes effort - to support everyone, and sometimes - you know - I'm human. Sometimes I feel like I'm really going out of my way to feed someone who wouldn't hand me a glass of water if I was strolling through the desert. I'm human - just like everyone else. So personally, I'm trying to strike a balance, and I don't know what it is yet - but I will always err on the side of trying to be kind and supportive - we're such a small group - if we don't we will cease to exist.

So, to celebrate me releasing all of the character profiles, i've decided to create a "silly" post with a bunch of trivia of all of the characters! Not all is silly
Silly Headcanons
(is it a headcanon if it's created by the writer?)
Aoi has an old tennis ball that is basically completely destroyed, but he refuses to throw it away.
Emari always walks around with a golden earring on her left ear, but she would never explain how she got it when anyone asks. And her favorite food is ice cream :3
Syouga always has a pen on his pockets that he keeps fidgeting with. Never let this man near a clickable pen, he will NEVER stop clicking it.
Reika has a diary that she had ever since she was 15 and she never misses a day of writing on it. Everytime that it got full, she would try to buy one that was basically identical to it.
Haru's gay gay homosexual gay and had a boyfriend he met in 8th grade :3. Also, he dropped out of highschool.
Harlow always wanted to have a child, but she has never met someone to do it with and never had the time to adopt one.
Genki doesn't know how to read, but he will never admit to it out of fear. But he will always try to practice every day, but he has a hard time with it.
Saki hates being at her school and at home, so, she spends most of her time on the streets doing nothing.
Eisuke is an elementary school teacher and works on 1st to 5th grade classes. He also has a very hard time falling asleep at night.
Even if it doesn't seem like it, Akari is a very introverted and indoor person. She doesn't really have any friends as she doesn't bother to make any. Weird for someone like her, right?
Numen is really bad at cooking, but only a few have the heart to reject what they cook, because everyone knows Numen would be heartbroken if that happens.
The Overseer is literally just a face on a TV. No one has seen him physically, not even Numen.
Lyrics of songs that really fit them
(That's a long name)
Aoi: "Support the family, don't stray, display, obey, you must be perfect, oh-oh You suffocate the ones you love, that's not just something you forget. But I'm done with your games, I'll go my own way"
Emari: "Wheeze through the night as my lungs burn inside. As I fake through the day that never subsides if I, Can't call to mind all the words or the lines, I'll try; To ride the train wherever it will go tonight"
Syouga: "Secrets you bury deep within the sand. Like truth trapped in the night. The fears behind your eyes. Tell me what's hidden deep within your mind."
Reika: "This is what I've come to be (This is what I shouldn't be) This is what I wanna be."
Haru: "Before I knew, it withers way too soon, that one word that rings true. And now, a fruit will bloom in my heart, I can't move. Within the mirror's sight, there's a painting inside. A sign of "makeup" lighting the loss in my life."
Harlow: "Come on, let's throw away our minds. Dance on cloud 9. Forget about the stress of life, ra-ta-ta. We'll fight the sun and have our fun until tomorrow comes. So wipe the tears from your face, and roll the night away."
Genki: "Deep inside I've always been Reaching out for a hand, so don't let this be the end."
Saki: "The mourning of one still alive."
Eisuke: "It's a fragile state of mind. Like I'm losing sense of time. And the world is moving on while I am left behind. It's a never ending wait. For a sign to change my fate. Like I'll never reach the end of this forsaken chase."
Akari: "Give me your love, give me your love, give me your love. More, oh more, oh. Give me your love, give me your love. Going insane by love so much."
Numen: "Both of us are hated by our own lives! As we're both intoxicated by a sad goodbye. Without ever knowing what it means to die. Both of us are hated and berated by our own lives."
The Overseer: "Look at how they crawl around Upon the ground like little ants. Yes, but how they fascinate, confusing fate. With what is merely chance."
(I wonder if somebody knows where each of those lyrics belong to.)

for the ask game: 001 favorite character (sandman), character you felt the writers screwed up (any media), 002 gabby/pierce, calliope/corinthian [eyes emoji]
Oooh for favorite Sandman character, definitely the Corinthian! He’s just - he’s everything! He’s queer, he’s a fuck up, he’s weird, he’s *trying*, he’s constantly looking to partner up with other people to help him overthrow his boss, he’s manipulative but not necessarily *good* at it. I love that he loves life, and loves humanity in his own way. He’s a nightmare, so his love is nightmarish and monstrous, but he’s so capable of having fun and there is something tragic about him being punished for being true to his nature. I’m not sure he’s really capable of being any way other than what he is, and I adore that for him.
I especially love him contrasted against the collectors - they’re all so full of resentment and spite, they’ve all invented narratives where they’re justified in killing their victims, and the Corinthian doesn’t need that at all! He doesn’t hate his victims! He’s a monster, he doesn’t need to justify what he’s doing. His speech to them was kind of hilarious in that it sort of missed the mark about why *they* kill - most of them aren’t really killing to kill at all! And when they speculate on the reasons for his name, and he kinda demurs?? Because it’s just his name! It’s not some badass moniker he came up with for himself like the rest of them. It is literally just his name.
Character I felt the writers screwed up… urgh, not to drag myself back into the OFMD fandom (yikes), but as someone who binged season 1 and was hella excited where season 2 would take the story… I gotta say Ed Teach. I won’t get too far down this rabbit hole, but needless to say, if you choose to write your co-protagonist and romantic lead as an abusive monster, that’s fine, but please actually follow-through, don’t just hand-wave it all away when it starts to headbutt against the “sunshine friendship&romance” plot you wanna tell
Gabby/Pierce
when or if I started shipping it: Not until I saw that deleted scene a few months ago!! God, I’m still feral over it. That he calls her by a nickname - that there was clearly a friendship between them, if not more – and it makes so much sense with how hyped up he’s acting right after her death, like he’s keeping himself going on willpower and Ritalin, and the way he looks so solemn when he’s telling Caliban people don’t change?? GAH. It’s a ship I didn’t think about for YEARS but has grabbed me right by the throat.
my thoughts: That I love it. That I want it. That there’s an entire movie about Gabby and Pierce’s relationship we only catch glimpses of the tail-end of, and I’ll never stop screaming about that.
What makes me happy about them: That they were friends!! She’s a nurse and he was the Reaver commander, but he *knew* her well enough to know that she loved comic books (like him!) They’re very different people – she doesn’t strike me as someone that would be drawn in to his posturing, and he’s hinted at being kinda nerdy and quiet at points in the movie where he’s not fronting, and I love the implication that she saw a side of him he doesn’t normally show to people.
What makes me sad about them: y’know it’s a tough call, but probably the part where she gets killed either by him or his Reavers on his command 😭 although it does add a deliciously tragic edge to it too
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: that there’s not more of it!
Things I look for in fanfic: assuming there was more fanfic of the two of them, I’d probably look for fanfics that explored Pierce being… maybe not *softer*, but more vulnerable with Gabby, but without making him OOC (I like my boy with his off-putting, nasty streak!) Them being drawn in to the aspects of each other that they don’t feel as comfortable showing is *chef’s kiss*
My kinks: ooh definitely femdom, CNC (i can see them switching roles for that one), pegging, and MFM threesomes with a “forced bi” roleplay element, light bondage
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Probably Logan!
My happily ever after for them: Gabby was just faking being dead and digs Pierce out of the ground 😭😭 Always in love with endings where Pierce gets to be her extra good guard dog
Calliope/Corinthian
when or if I started shipping it: A while back (maybe a year ago now?) a friend of mine in a server drew a gorgeous piece of Calliope/Corinthian art (the one I attached to the tumblr post linking to my story, with their permission), and I was hooked after that!
my thoughts: Corinthian deserves a better master than Dream tbh, and I love him with an actual goddess who understands some part of his whole personhood situation. Someone who respects him as an individual, but also understands that if he doesn’t have someone holding his own leash pretty tightly (and giving him plenty of enrichment and affection), he’s gonna go off and do *sooo* many murders because that’s just who he is. And I love Calliope getting to indulge in some messy sex after her ordeal, with someone that just adores her for *her* and not that she’s a muse
What makes me happy about them: that their needs have the capability to balance out pretty well!! That I can see Calliope as someone who can survive and thrive with the Corinthian, and I think the Corinthian would be better off under her, too.
What makes me sad about them: when i remember they probably have met before, in happier times when Orpheus was still alive, and we’ll likely never see it 😭 did Calliope like Dream’s favorite nightmare?? Did she pamper him like a treasured pet? Was he jealous of her for her closeness to Dream? Did he adore having someone around that treated him with a softer touch?
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: again, that there’s just not really fanfic for them! 😭
Things I look for in fanfic: (assuming there was more to choose from!) really anything exploring the power dynamics between a nightmare with daddy issues and a goddess that’s spent the last 70 years imprisoned. I don’t think they could ever be regular boyfriend/girlfriend, free of power imbalance, but that’s what I adore about it
My kinks: femdom, Calliope as a masochistic dom, CNC with Calliope as the “victim” (specifically love her reclaiming herself and her sexuality & reconciling some of her trauma through some CNC), gentle domme, primal play, orgasm control/denial
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: honestly, I just love giving Call the Corinthian. I’m not sure I really ship her with anyone else - although Calliope/Destruction tickles something in my brain too. And for Corinthian, definitely Rose
My happily ever after for them: she gets to keep the Corinthian and he’s her pampered and very enriched monster 😌😌

Saw Mutant Mayhem and didn’t enjoy it as much I was hoping to. Guess that makes me one of the few. Besides the animation and turtles themselves, there is not much I liked. The boys felt very surface level and only there to make easy, pop culture and product references the entire run time without going deeper like previous films have. I don’t care if the references make it dated or not; they just weren’t funny to me. Mutant Mayhem is a kid’s movie that’s all fun and games foremost, but for some in the audience the fun is short lived at best.
Here are my thoughts and nitpicks: (*spoilers*)
- The premise hangs on to the fact that the boys were encouraged to fear & hate humans by Master Splinter. Instead, they’re naturally more curious about humans and want to believe the best about them. It makes sense for them to still be terrified of being captured and experimented on though. Yet, when it actually happens, they joke and just seem resigned to it. There’s no real sense of fear, danger or physical harm. No stakes. Electrocuting and draining their blood seems to do nothing and they get over it in a second. And don’t get me started on that running gag / fetish the writers kept using.
- Speaking of dumb, not sure why Master Splinter has to be this bumbling father who is played more for laughs than taken seriously. I get that he means well and like that he’s more of a father than master. But it’s hard to be moved by the emotional beats when Splinter complains about being lonely and makes out with a cockroach mutant at the end. I don’t think he needs to be this fountain of wisdom, but asking for him to at least be respectable doesn’t seem like much.
- Not enough martial arts or ninjitsu from the turtles. No real focus on the weapons, stealth or coordinating fights. They just apply what they know and everything conveniently works out. Nothing seems difficult till it is, and then they just give up till others like Splinter, April, or the other mutants (heck even the humans) push them along.
- There are just so many changes I question. Like why make Leatherhead female? Why make Baxter Stockman the origin of the ooze and separate him from being Superfly? Most of the mutants were just there and hardly did or said anything noteworthy. Just felt like cameos for older fans or to sell a toy line.
- I know it was a stylistic choice to make the humans ugly but I found it distracting and off putting.
- Raph is joked more about being angry than he’s actually angry. He even uncharacteristically suggests backing out of the final fight towards the end. He doesn’t stand out much. Donnie is a fanboy who likes being on the internet, anime, and kpop. It’s like his entire character is just meant to be relatable. He doesn’t build anything on screen or geek out on tech related stuff. When Superfly essentially builds a mutagen ray and they need to stop him, Donnie never even tries to take over the machine manually. He hits it with his Bo staff. He doesn’t figure out how it works or how to stop it. And in the very end, after Superfly mutates again, it’s not common sense or logic that helps Donnie come up with a plan, it’s remembering a manga. It’s freakin an Attack on Titan reference. Hilarious. Mikey is into improv (clever) and not much else is really explored about him. He’s not implied to be a peacekeeper between his brothers or that he’s physically the fastest. He never even skateboards like in the poster. Leo is into April immediately (which I find weird because he’s usually more attracted to someone’s character and being an equal in combat) and his brothers constantly make fun of him for that and being an anxious goody two shoes. This crush on April makes him stand out more than his brothers and gives him thematic weight. But when it comes to justice, honor or doing the right thing Leo comes off not very concerned or conflicted till the very end. Again, he’s made fun of for acting like a leader more than he actually leads.
- This movie could’ve been more Mikey centric. Unfortunately, the more contemplative Mikey longing for acceptance teased at the beginning is forgotten and reduced to his usual goofy self. It would’ve been more engaging imo if Mikey had some conflict with the others or Splinter and took a chance interacting with a human like April on his own. Or meeting Mondo first before they’re all introduced to Superfly’s gang.
- The boys all share one brain cell. It’s cute the first time but then I got kinda tired of it. They don’t need to be talking over each other all the time. I would’ve liked if the director had separated them a little more. I can’t remember a scene with just two turtles talking or hanging out. Or being by themselves. It’s odd actually that despite being visually discernible, they seem less distinguishable personality wise. They seem more like a middle school friend group with all the same interests/humor than high school aged brothers sometimes.
- It’s obvious to me that Seth is taking inspiration from the 80s cartoon, Archie comics and the arcade games and just modernizing and focusing on the teen and wacky aspect of the turtles. Ninja turtles are definitely a zany IP so I understand if that’s all he really considered. This will work for some, if not most fans.
- April’s personality I wasn’t into either. She seemed apathetic or distant in a way. She asked and wrote questions but didn’t seem bothered or intrigued about the boys beyond what they told her. The prom, breaking her story, and salvaging her reputation were more important? (could’ve done without the puke scenes) She didn’t give much big sister or genuine friend energy.
- The turtles’ shells crack after they are crushed by Superfly and then somehow it’s just completely forgotten and they are fine.
- Honestly, if this movie was just them going to high school that would’ve been a more refreshing or original story. Even if it doesn’t make much sense. Still don’t think I would like Seth Rogens brand of humor in it though.
- The one part of the movie I actually really liked was Donnie’s plan to become heros that was 2-D animated like an actual sketchbook. Really loved the visuals there. Did feel more Mikey than Donnie, since Mikey usually loves comics and drawing but I digress. Oh and I loved the baby turtles too! The first half or beginning of the movie was probably when I was most on board before it started to lose me.
At the end of the day, I think the Rise movie is better and I’m not even a fan of that iteration. I don’t know if it’s cause Ninja Turtles are near and dear to my heart or I take it too seriously, but this movie felt like it was poking fun similar to a Robot Chicken skit and less like it was celebrating the franchise or sincerely cared. I wanted this to be on par with Into the Spider-verse and Puss and Boots but this movie just doesn’t match up story or character development wise. Maybe that’s my mistake.
I wanted to like this movie. I really did. Heck, I went to see it twice. I honestly wish I could be as happy as the rest of y’all are. My niece enjoyed it so that I’m happy about. If this movie leads to new, young fans watching older shows than I can’t be too mad.
