Saw some people complaining about people calling Socqueline Bridgette or even the existence of Bridgette (I’m honestly just confused lol), so I made this reference with a couple extras to help people out.
Tumblr media
I’ll be frank, I don’t really care for what you call them because I’m a PV fan, but if people complain, fight, or start discourse over really simple things, I can’t really sit down. I don’t know how bad it got, but it’s appearing on my feed, so I’m putting this here to hopefully clear the air.
(Never did an ID before, but I’m not sure about the image quality, so ID under cut!)
[ID: Five images lay on a gradient. From left to right:
Image of The Mini Menace Ladybug #17, with character sweating and backing away nervously from a red eye mask being handed to her. Labelled Marietta.
Image of an early concept of Marinette, with an ahoge and one arm behind her back, smiling. Labelled Concept Marinette
Image of a still from Ladybug PV, with character swaying her hips, arms behind her back, smiling. Labelled “Bridgette”
Image of a still from The Bubbler of Marinette Dupain-Cheng, hands on her hips and smiling. Labelled Marinette
Image of a still from the Jubilation trailer of new character Socqueline, smiling sheepishly. Labelled Socqueline
Under each image, there is bulleted text.
Under Marietta it reads:
-Earliest Concept (2005)
-”Mini Menace”
-Probably has a canon personality
-Wore stuff closer to Alternative Fashion
-Probably 18 (has a car)
Under Concept Marinette it reads:
-Company made (2012)
-Was part of a political commentary or something
-Has a canon personality
-Luck was a staple of her character
-Kung Fu
-Either had multiple love interests or one that wasn’t Cat Noir
-Same character in the PV
Under “Bridgette” it reads:
-Fanon character associated with the PV design
-Somebody somewhere called her Bridgette and the PV fandom agreed
-Seriously, if people say Bridgette, you can practically guarantee it isn’t canon
-Was given the name to help differentiate PV from 3D*
Under Marinette it reads:
-Canon (2015)
-Is the protagonist of the actual publicized show
-Lost some qualities from earlier concepts
-Gained new qualities not present in previous concepts
-In a kids show
Under Socqueline it reads:
-New canon character associated with the MOTW, but not the MOTW
-Cosplayer or soemthing
-Works at or owns a JOANN Fabrics
-What is this Moondancer crap
-Has a canon personalitiy
-I legit do not know why she resembles Marinette
-Not “Bridgette”
In the bottom left corner, there is text that reads: *Note: You are allowed to call this design Bridgette if you want. Nobody will stop you. But the amount of people that have mistaken fanon for canon is causing this to get very concerning. Bridgette’s name and personality was not created by anyone associated with the show. Please don’t ask the creators about this, the legitimately won’t know what you are talking about.
End of ID]

Hey! I really love your PV story so much! So much that I’m actually inspired to make my own! ok not right now. I’m gonna make up characters using the concept art from the CGI show cos I really love the designs. Also quick question - who do you ship claude with?
Thank you so much for the support anon! I'm glad that I managed to inspire you to write your own story and I wish you luck with yours!
Honestly, I don't ship Claude with anyone. In Up Ladybug, he is the protective Big Brother figure to Bridgette and he will eventually become close friends with Félix (after both of them undergo some character development), but I don't plan to pair him up with anyone. Not all characters have to be in a romantic relationship.

Yesterday I sketched my Ladybug design for my old comic idea I had that was going to be based on the in between concepts of the Ladybug PV and the CGI show we have now. I was going to name it “Here Comes Ladybug” after the awesome rejected theme song for Miraculous that never happened. I have been hiding her away for quite some time just hoping, one day, I would make that comic. Turns out I just couldn’t do it so I may as well show her off. The AU was meant to celebrate the spirit of Miraculous but not be the same because that would be rather boring. If you want to learn more about her, it’s under the cut.
Her civilian name was originally going to be Bridgette (because I was not very creative) but now I want to call her Jeanette. It has “ette” in it (which was important to me for some reason) and I always thought the name was pretty. Jeanette is beloved by her friends for her high-energy, positive attitude as well her creativity. She loved art, tinkering, and fashion. She also loved cats and with every outfit she designed you could always find a cat somewhere, sometimes it just took some searching. It was basically her signature. Honestly, you could kind of compare Jeanette to Tohru from Fruits Basket but just more headstrong which is ironic because I hadn’t watched Fruits Basket for years when making this. I barely even remembered it. Also, her best friends were Adele (basically like a mix of Alya and Alix who is the only one to know Ladybug’s true identity), Renée (basically a mix of Zoe and Mylene, ironically before we knew Zoe was even gonna be a thing) and Adrien, who I have renamed Liam (man, I was not freaking creative at all with these names). Liam and Bridgette were best friends since childhood but have had a bit of a rift between them ever since the death of his father. Unbeknownst to her, Liam has a crush on her. Yeah, I really wanted a reverse love square for some reason. Her flaws included bottling up her own emotions which sometimes leads to reckless behavior and not thinking before leaping into action among other things. The ladybug miraculous in this AU represented Good Luck and Creativity. As Ladybug her powers included good luck; good luck would effect her for only a 5 minute time period and therefore she usually used it once she used her main power to have an extra advantage for the 5 minutes she could stay transformed. She could also channel it and give some of it to other people. Tikki (I kept Tikki and Plagg’s names because I liked them too much) also had a residual effect afterwards where she would bring Jeanette a lot of good luck, though it was minor but not completely unnoticeable so Jeanette has to be careful after a battle. She also had creativity, or gadgetry, which was her main power. It could only be performed if she was in possession of her weapon “The Bug” which looked like a slightly bigger version of CGI Ladybug’s yo-yo that attached to her back. With it she could transform it into any gadget she so desired. This was based on the old concepts of Ladybug creating a staff to fight with from her yo-yo, as well as a shield and a smoke bomb. She could also, only use it about 2 times so she had to make it count. If she lost her weapon she only had good luck and the abilities the miraculous gave her due to the ladybug it was based off of and the high power a kwami possessed. These included enhanced agility, enhanced strength (though near the level of the CGI show), the ability to walk on walls and ceilings, and flight (though I’m still pretty indecisive if she could actually fly without the bug or not because I like the concept of the yo-yo giving Ladybug wings but that would mean she couldn’t fly without her bug). Ladybug also grew a huge crush on Chat Noir not only for his heroic nature but because he was the only one she felt she could truly talk to despite not knowing his true identity. The idea being, they only don’t reveal themselves because they want to see if they can trust each other. Though, part of it for Ladybug is just that she’s afraid. The fun idea for her first transformation was that it would look a lot like CGI Ladybug’s default design because that has been her default throughout almost the entire concept process, it was to symbolize her just getting started. It was also a sneaky way to pay homage to what inspired her. And then eventually she designs her own Ladybug costume and transforms into that to show she’s finally excepted who she is now. Her appearance also changed a bit as Ladybug to better conceal her identity along with the magic. As Jeanette her hair was more blue whereas Ladybug it was a light back. Her eyes changed from blue to black and she was also a lot shorter as Ladybug. Originally in concept she also lived in the bakery with her father and her parents were divorced. Her mother was happily in a relationship with someone else and she often visited her but her mom lived in a different country and both her parents decided it would be more beneficial for her if she got to stay where she was raised and where her friends were. Her parents were on good terms as well, though she found it hard without her mom. I really miss her and I’m very sad I never got to bring this to fruition. I just found no one truly seemed interested in it and I didn’t think it would take off so I lost all motivation to make it. But I still draw the characters occasionally because I love them and their designs.  I thought up a whole world. Kwamis and akumas worked differently. There was a few different villains. It was a bit darker (like the PV) but I tried to keep some of them charm of the show. I had a few twists thought up and heroes that didn’t have kwamis and worked more like Batman or Robin. And a miraculous even worked differently. I still love this world and think of it often. But, to finish this off, take some of my old art which was back when I completed her design (you can see I changed a little in the final product above).

....I miss the days when we had good cartoons and good stories or actual role models on TV, like Last Airbender and Teen Titans. Miraculous Ladybug. No. It's not that good, and the role model part, hell no. Like, You have Marinette, who is supposed to be the main protagonist, and she has friends AND her parent's approval of stalking him! Only one episode did someone find this weird and who may that person be? Alix in the episode where the baby is super tall and a giant, and then Rose said it was romantic. Like no! No! That is not okay! Stalking someone and calling it romantic! It's freakin Twilight all over again. A stalker vampire who is manipulative and a***ive, and then there is the werewolf who doesn't know boundaries. I liked Marinette in the episode Origins, where we got to know the character, OUTSIDE of her stalking. That was when she was likable and actually had some character outside of Adrien and stalking.
Adrien, he was a bit interesting, back in that episode, he wanted to go to school and make friends, while his dad was locking him up, unable to make friends after the death of his wife. But then...now we have stalking Maricreep and a cardboard cutout.
Oh! Oh! The icing on this crap cake of a show is the creator. I won't tell everything, but...I'll list a few things he's done - Claimed he and his team make better designs than Pixar( Way to insult the studio that pioneered the very form of animation Miraculous Ladybug uses today, Astruc, and he makes a huge risk, considering Disney is airing his show) -Deemed Chloe irredeemable, even though there is PLENTY of time to redeem her!
-He criticized Wonder Woman 1984, for having things that happened in the show, End of the movie, was exactly the same thing that happened at the end of Season 3.
There is much more, but their sensitive things involve horrible things, and I don't want to list them all. I can't watch this show, without getting mad. I'll laugh a bit because it's so stupid and their stories are laughable. Like nothing in the show matters, and the plot is so inconsistent. The things that made it interesting and had unique premises, like you said. But now...ugh. This show is leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth, I wanna rant about Kingdom Hearts again, and how it doesn't make sense lol
I don't know about Marinette being a role model, but the writing of her character is certainly... not great.
I've heard some things about the creator of the series myself, none of which were very good.
Honestly though, aside from writing, there's several other reasons why ML is a mess. It all involves the production of it.
It has like... three animation studios behind it which explains the inconsistent animation and jumbled airdates. It's a "joint effort by France's Zagtoon and Method Animation Studios with Toei Animation of Japan and SAMG Animation of South Korea."
So right off the bat there's going to be translation issues and inconsistency.
Miraculous Ladybug was originally pitched in 2D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main characters were "Bridgette" and "Felix". The creators realized that Felix is too cold hearted / uninterested in Bridgette which doesn't make sense why she would crush on him. His Chat Noir personality was fine though. As to why Felix was cold hearted is most likely because of how he grew up with his father, isolated and unwanted. While I agree Felix needs more spark to him for Bridgette's crush to be believable, instead, the creators completely erased him and replaced him with a cardboard cut-out of a boy named Adrien who just lets his dad abuse him and doesn't see anything wrong with it and still loves him. While the Felix in the pilot already realizes his relationship with his dad is a lost cause.
The pilot was a completely different, but balanced dynamic.
Tumblr media
Bridgette was actually super open about her feelings. Felix found her constant stalking/crushing annoying and did his best to ignore her, just like Ladybug does to his Chat Noir personality.
Tumblr media
So it wasn't like Felix was the bad guy here, their level of interest was the same! Their dynamics were the same!
Instead, in the 3D version, Adrien, instead of not being interested in Marinette, he is indifferent to her / ignorant of her crush / thinks of her as just a friend / does not realize she has feelings for him. It is so obvious to everyone except for him that she likes him, and he doesn't find her annoying in the slightest, meanwhile, Ladybug gets to think Chat Noir Is annoying all she wants. It's unbalanced.
So Felix was completely replaced.
OR SO I THOUGHT.
THE CREATORS ARE LIKE??? YEAH NO ACTUALLY FELIX STILL EXISTS AND HE MIGHT BE ADRIEN'S COUSIN OR BROTHER OR SOMETHING ???
Tumblr media
that's not weird or confusing at all!! The hell?? Why is this even necessary? He's even more of a jerk in the canon series!
On top of that, the early versions of ML renders were superior.
Tumblr media
Marinette initially had black hair for her 3D render but the show runners were like "no make it a weird blue" and we got this
Tumblr media
On top of that, allegedly there's a cinematic movie in the works with a DOZEN leaks
Tumblr media
Meanwhile there's another project the studio has been working on called "Pixie Girl" (which may or may not have been considered an ML spin off or gotten a crossover at some point) that was set to release in 2019, but three years later there's been no news.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I'm in love with this Witch boy and if they change his design I will die
Yeah so in conclusion the entire production of ML has been hell and it certainly doesn't help that the initial superior ideas and concept art are overwritten by bad writers

Ok. So I LOVE the Felix and Bridgette anime Miraculous AU In this AU Felix, who is Cat Noir, has to get a kiss from Ladybug to break his bad luck. He then unintentionally falls in love with Ladybug. So I wrote this after being inspired by art on pinterest Anyways here it is;
Tumblr media
FELIX:
Your hair is dark as night, your pretty bluebell eyes. I wonder who you are beneath that strong disguise. Everyday we see each other and I hope that you’ll be mine. Together, our love could be so true, please will you be my valentine.
I cannot believe I wrote this. When did I become such an incompetent idiot. This girl is turning me into a completely love sick airhead. Ladybug is never going to see this. I crumble up my lame attempt at poetry and throw it in the trash as I leave the classroom. I’m pathetic. Ladybug could never love me.
“Hi Felix!” I’m always waiting for the moment when she finally leaves me alone. Bridgette hasn’t gone a day without trying to engage my attention since the day we met. I really do try my best to disregard her pleasantries. However, she makes it rather difficult.
“It’s such a coincidence we keep running into each other.” Bridgette grins.
“Yes, particularly because I purposely choose a different cafe every day.” I turn back to my book trying again, my very best to ignore her.
Just as I’m getting to the interesting part of my novel I can feel it being snached from my grasp. I’m over this. She’s standing in front of me with my book in her hand, stretching it up as far as she can reach.
“Bridgette you’re a complete klutz.” I stand up from the chair I was reading on, so very clearly towering above her. “Were you seriously trying to raise it above my head?” Bridgette wouldn’t be taller than me if she stood on a step stool. It would be almost adorable, if she were anyone else. I pluck the book from her hands and stash it in my schoolbag. “You’re going to have to try a little harder than that. Bridgette, you’re simply not fit for intellectual accomplishments.”
Bridgette bounces up to the other side of the table and sits. She stares up at me, the same optimistic face she has on whenever she has something to tell me. Which is everyday. It’s quite miraculous that this girl hasn’t run out of things to blab on about yet. “What do you want.”
“I’m here to ask you on a date Felix. After all, it is Valentines day.” She beams up at me. That certainly wasn’t what I was expecting.
“Bridgette, no offence but the stars will fall from the sky before I agree to go on a date with you.” For some reason, she seems almost thrilled by my response.
“Promise?” She asks, smile never faltering.
“What do you mean promise? Don’t tell me you intend on believing you have a chance.” I can’t help but snicker at the thought of Bridgette desperately begging the stars to fall.
“Anything is possible Felix. We’re made for each other, you'll see that soon enough.” She holds out her pinkie and gives me an expectant glance.
“You’re so childish.” Still, I bring forward my pinkie and lock it with hers, holding on to the thought that even she, determined as she was, could not make the stars fall from the sky.
“Seems as if we have an agreement Cutie Pie.” She nods as if settling my fate. How is she so self-assured? I shouldn’t have agreed to this.
“Don’t ever call me that again.” I snapped. Bridgette smiles and runs in the other direction.
“I’ll see you tonight Cutie Pie!” Bridgette giggles. “Wear something nice okay!” She’s completely absurd.
“You should seriously give that girl some more credit Felix. Bridgette seems like the kind of person with bright ideas.” Plagg articulated.
“Plagg if you shut up I’ll give you some camembert when we get home.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thump. There’s Bridgette. Right in the middle of my lonely pity party. Flying through my window.
“Damn it Bridgette you’re an idiot you’re going to get hurt. Get up.” She was laying in the middle of my floor. Which means that she got up onto the roof, scaled the wall, and climbed through my window. She’s unbelievably dense.
“Hi Felix! Aren’t you surprised?” She gets up and brushes dirt off her dress. It’s a deep blue and ends just above her knee. Silver constellations printed across the skirt. Bridgette got up onto the roof, scaled the wall, and climbed in through my window. In what looks like a designer item. I’m not fazed by anything she does anymore.
“I told you to wear something nice!” She pouts.
“That’s what this is about Bridgette? I told you that I’d go on a date with you when the stars fall from the sky. Leave me alone.” This time she doesn’t drag me. She just smiles, and walks towards the window. Just my luck. A meteor shower.
“You promised.”
The thought of going on a date with someone like Bridgette seems absolutely repulsive. The stars aren’t falling, they're simply relocating. But, I have nothing better to do tonight. So, I follow her out my bedroom window.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------————-
BRIDGETTE:
“You’re absolutely insane.” We were on the roof, a rope placed so we could get down, after I fixed it there as Ladybug.
“Yes, probably.” I can’t help but smile at the look of Felix’s face. Calm and collective as always, never daunted by my clever ideas. I had to find some way to get him out of the house without his father or bodyguard noticing, and it’s not like I could just carry him there as Ladybug. So we climb down.
Felix goes first, making it seem surprisingly undifficult. He’s stronger than he looks. All he does is read and practice piano all day. Strange. He gets to the bottom quickly with ease, leaving me to go next. I think I’ll make this a bit more entertaining for myself.
“Here I come!” I grab hold of the rope and jump off. Sliding down, I knock Felix to the ground, landing on top of him.
“Get. Off of me.” He shoves me off of him and gets up, sweeping dirt and grass off his jacket. Then, reaches his hand out to help me up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FELIX:
A rooftop dinner overlooking Paris. Why does she like me? Even Bridgette could find someone better than me. I’m not good for anything. Why go through so much trouble? She gestures for me to sit. There are candles, hearts, and roses everywhere. It’s tasteless.
“Happy Valentines day Felix.” Bridgette sits on the other side of the table and sets a large bowl of heart shaped chocolates in the middle. I don’t care for sweets.
“Are you in love with me Bridgette? This is quite extravagant for an evening conversation. You should try this with someone who actually likes you.” My question took her by surprise.
“I’ll have you know that there is someone head over heels for me. He’s just not my type.” she scoffed.
“You’d have to be a complete moron to be rejected by Bridgette Dupain-Cheng.” I laugh.
“What do you mean?” She seems a bit hurt by my comment. Does she honestly not know how she acts?
“Damn it Bridgette you’re pathetic. Following me around like a love sick puppy. I would never love someone like you. Give it up all ready.” It’s almost hilarious that she really hasn't caught on. “You know you’re the only one that hasn’t left me alone? The only one left that cares about me. You’re also the one person I couldn’t care less about. So leave me alone!” She’s always gotten on my nerves. Her determination makes my blood boil.
When I look over, I can see tears welling up in her eyes. Odd. no matter how many times I’ve offended her she’s always bounced back right away. That’s just who she is. A small ray of sunshine in an otherwise pitch black world. She’s still staring at me in shock, tears streaming down her face.
This time I went too far. I don’t think I ever really wanted to hurt her. I just wanted her to stay away from me. When you trust someone like me, you get hurt.
“I really did believe in you Felix.” Without another word, she gets up from the table and starts walking away. A black butterfly flutters towards her as she walks.
“Bridgette! Watch out!” I try to put distance between her and the akuma but it’s too late. The butterfly takes place in a chocolate that she was still holding and begins to overtake her emotions. I do the only thing I can think of, and pull her as tight to me as I can.
“Get your hands off me.” She’s struggling to get away but I can’t let her, so I wrap her into a tighter embrace.
“Please Bridgette, you can fight this. You believe in me, I believe in you too.” All I can do is plead as she fights against my hold. There’s still time, the akuma hasn’t completely taken over yet.
“Back off! Stop it!” She’s screaming now, tears furiously running down her cheeks. I can’t help her. “Get away from me! I hate you, I hate you.”
This girl is unbelievably strong. She’s fighting hard against her emotions, I can see that. Just need to hold on for a bit longer. I did this to her. Bridgette is in pain because of me. Why do I care? I didn’t yesterday.
“I hate you! I hate you! I ha-” She gives up struggling against my hold and sinks to the ground, crying as I hold her.
“I’m sorry.” I mutter. “I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m sorry.” Bridgette’s negative thoughts must have faded because the butterfly surrenders and tries to leave. Dumping the bowl of chocolates from the table, I trap the akuma.
“Why do you even tolerate me Bridgette? I’m horrible to everyone. You’re always so positive in every situation.”
“I have you. And even if you don’t want me, you’ll always have me.” She smiles and rubs the tears off her face.
“You don’t know a thing about who I really am Bridgette. If you knew you wouldn’t be here with me.”
“Your favourite is blue. You love reading romantic poetry, even though you try to hide it. You spend all your time in coffee shops to get out of spending time at home with your father.” She pauses and looks up from the chocolate piece she was fiddling with. “You pretend you want to be alone, but you’re glad that you have someone to talk to. Felix you can decline my gifts and push me away. What I know is, the boy I love, shoving his hand in my face and telling me he’s not interested everyday, still puts his book away when I try to talk to him.”
It’s terrifying, realizing that someone knows you better than you know yourself.

Game Review — Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
In the past, I was never really one for farming sims. In fact, I used to pass on every single Harvest Moon game because the idea of farming just didn’t seem fun to me. Then I heard you could have same-sex romance options in Stardew Valley, so I played that, fell in love, and thus got very excited for the newest Story of Seasons game, since I knew that Story of Seasons was Harvest Moon previously, and Harvest Moon inspired Stardew Valley.
And all I have to say is . . .
Tumblr media
Overall Score: 5.5/10
. . . oh boy.
Well, I actually have a lot more to say than just that, but that should give you a general idea of what the rest of this review is going to be like. I do want to say up front that I have played through the entire first in-game year to give the game a fair shake, so please trust me when I say I did my due diligence to give this game a real chance before I reviewed it. If you’re ready, jump under the cut (best read on my blog for formatting reasons) and let’s get into it.
The Pros:
The character customization, while not perfect, is definitely several leaps in the right direction. None of the clothing or hairstyle options are gender locked, which is amazing. There is a variety of skin tones to choose from. You pick your pronouns independently of everything else, voice included, so you can 100% have a trans character if you want to (or a nonbinary character if you don’t mind using gendered pronouns for your nonbinary character). I do wish the clothing selection was better (especially at the start, when you only have two outfits to choose from) and having different body types would be cool as well, but the fact that you have so much freedom with regards to gender presentation is a definite plus.
Likewise, being able to have same-sex relationships is a huge plus as well. Honestly, it was what convinced me to pick up the game; I might not have gotten it if it didn’t have that option in there, but that pushed me over the edge. I mean, the fact that it’s 2021 means this sort of thing should be expected, but with Japanese games on Nintendo systems it’s really not always guaranteed, so the fact that it was included still does deserve to get a mention as a plus.
It’s easy to raise affection with the villagers by just talking to them, which is an improvement over Stardew where you pretty much had to give gifts to raise affection (because I don’t think talking did it, or if it did, it was abysmally slow). I was able to unlock heart events pretty quickly just by running around the town and talking quickly with the villagers each day, which is particularly nice since the preferred gifts can be pretty expensive at first.
I enjoy that not all of the heart events necessarily involve the farmer, especially for characters that aren’t romanceable. It’s nice to see the villagers interacting with each other more, to see that they have lives and relationships outside of the farmer’s sphere of influence. It also gives you unique insight into the characters, because how they act around or with each other isn’t always how they interact around or with the farmer.
Being able to sow seeds in multiple patches of dirt at once is nice, especially since otherwise it takes much longer than it does in, say, Stardew. I mean, in Stardew you can hold the A button and sow everything at once, whereas in Olive Town you have to do it one press at a time. So to be able to do a multi-plant is very nice.
The pet and mount selection is pretty great, too. I love how many different types of breeds of dog there are, how many different cats and different types of horses, and of course the unique mounts like the unicorn or the wolf.
The farm has a lot of space once you unlock the different areas, and is divided into neat sections to make organizing easier.
Having not played a Story of Seasons game before this one, and knowing that Stardew Valley’s developer was inspired by Harvest Moon, I can’t say entirely which features were unique to Stardew and borrowed and which ones Stardew borrowed first. However, I have seen others claim that the tool bar at the bottom of the screen (which is nearly identical to the one in Stardew) was unique to Stardew, so I can say that this is one area in which they copped something from Stardew and did it well. The fact that you can put your tools into a separate tool bag to make some emergency room in your bag is nice too.
The Neutrals:
While there are a lot of villagers and they all have their own heart events and interactions, the day-to-day dialogue can get very repetitive. I can’t tell you the amount of times Laura has told me about losing track of time during Laura Things, or how many times Jack has told me about how his mom told him about planting different crops and he thinks that’s just too much work. The dialogue only really seems to change around festivals / after plot changes, and it can really make characters that might otherwise feel fleshed out feel more like . . . well, NPCs. Which they are, but you don’t really want them to feel like that in a sim game. So while the characters are (mostly) unique, sometimes they can feel a bit repetitive.
The plot is a bit weird. It’s not bad, per se, but it’s weird that the plot focuses on wanting to turn the local town into a tourist hotspot. I get that the idea is that they want to bring commerce into the town (I guess), but that everyone is on board with it and the fact that it’s essentially gentrification just feels a bit . . . weird, for a game that’s supposed to focus more on nature. The tasks associated with it also get very repetitive, and that’s not even talking about how you literally have to improve the roads and lamps twice to make a difference.
The holiday festivals are also pretty average. It’s either a cutscene, or a tiny minigame (or sometimes not even a minigame, but I’ll get to that). The minigames are charming, but they’re not something that I’d want to do the following year. You’ve done it once, you’ve done it a million times. It’s also strange that there’s not a festival to celebrate your farm at all, whereas at least in Stardew we had the Stardew Valley Fair and I hear that in past Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons games they had farm celebration festivals, too. It’s just a bit strange.
The music is hit or miss, and mostly miss if I’m being honest, but I’ll still put it here. The songs are too short; they loop far too fast, and often sound no better than you’d expect a game on the GBA to sound (especially that first cave theme, ugh). There are some nice melodies, but again, when I compare it to Stardew (which I know isn’t exactly fair, but also Stardew is made by a grand total of one person when this game had an entire team so I feel it’s at least a little fair), it’s a pretty big letdown in the music department.
The bachelorettes are not very unique. Like, they are different, you can tell them apart, but . . . the primary difference between Bridgette and Linh, for instance, is that Linh is Korean (and also looks like a child which I don’t like at all if we’re being honest) while Bridgette is white. Otherwise they’re both sweet and shy and have basically the same personality. Reina and Blaire are also pretty similar, in that they’re both outgoing party types. The main difference between them besides their hair color (brunette and blonde respectively) is the fact that one works at the museum while the other is a waitress. The only one who really stands out is Laura, and while Laura is great (and the one I chose to marry), it’s still disappointing when you see how varied the bachelors are. It feels like not a lot of effort was put into designing the bachelorettes, which is sad when you consider they’re kind of major characters since they’re part of the dating pool.
The Cons:
This game is AWFUL to play. How, you may ask? Well, let me count the ways:
To start with, the loading screens are atrocious. There are loading screens between everything that you do. You go to town? Loading screen. You leave town? Loading screen. Start your day? Loading screen. Go in and out of barns or coops? Loading screens. And they take ages, or at least in this day and age it feels like they take ages. Particularly when you go into town, immediately realize you forgot a resource you needed for an upgrade, and go back so you get back to back cutscenes, they’re fricking awful. I cannot believe that loading screens this annoying were necessary for this game. I refuse to accept that as truth. They absolutely could have cut out the time it takes to load had they spent more time on development instead of rushing this title out for the anniversary, and speaking of things they could have ironed out in development . . .
THE LAG. THE FREEZING. THE CRASHING. THE POP-IN DISTANCING. If I didn’t know that an entire development team worked on this game, I wouldn’t believe it. This game is, put simply, a mess. Even when my farm was brand new and had pretty much nothing on it, I was noticing framerate drops both in docked and handheld mode. I’m talking, I had maybe one coop and two planted areas for crops, and the framerate was noticeably dropping. And now that I do have more stuff on my farm? Not only is the lag atrocious, but the game can’t load everything on the screen at once and so things have to pop into view after a few seconds. You can see video footage of this here, which also features one of the delightful loading screens. And this doesn’t even get into how the game will randomly freeze, or how I’ve had it crash once already. And from what I hear, I’m not unique in this. The fact they had the nerve to release this game as finished when it performs like this just boggles the mind.
Despite the fact that the Switch has two control sticks, this game plays only with one. This means that you can’t, you know, aim your tools with anything but the main control stick. And when you’re both controlling your character and aiming with the same control stick, the latter gets pretty hard. This leads to me missing things with my axe or hammer even when they’re right in front of me, as well as taking a lot of damage from the cave enemies simply because I couldn’t get in the sweet spot to both hit them with the hammer and also not get hit myself, particularly before they escape. It adds a lot of unnecessary frustration because the controls are so flawed and imprecise.
Similarly, there is a sweet spot when it comes to harvesting or picking up items off the ground, and it’s impossible to determine what that sweet spot is because you don’t get a little aiming box for that. So you can be right on top of an item and unable to pick it up because you’re not in that sweet spot.
Apart from the framerate drops, there is input lag as well. This is most noticeable when swinging axes or hammers, or trying to pet cows and other animals after milking them. And yes, I know it’s the game and not my Switch, because it’s not consistent (and also doesn’t happen with other games). Again, this is something polish and more time in the oven probably could have handled, but now it’s too late and just makes the game frustrating to play.
Technical, mechanical gameplay issues aside, though, there are still a ton of other issues. For instance: makers. Again, I can’t say if previous Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons games had these, or if they were invented by Stardew and copped by this dev team, but what I can say is that while makers also exist in Stardew, they are handled way better there than the absolute nightmare they are here. Again, to count the ways:
In Stardew, the makers can sit flush against each other and buildings, as well as flush against paths, making everything nice and not taking up too much space. Here, not only are the makers gigantic, but they can’t be flush with anything. They can’t sit up against each other, against buildings, or against paths. This means that not only do they look ugly, but they also take up a tremendous amount of space that therefore can’t go toward anything else.
In Stardew there are a handful of makers that do things. You’ve got furnaces for making bars, mayonnaise makers, cheese makers, fabric spinners, etc. There’s a variety, but it’s not so much that your farm becomes nothing but makers. By contrast, Olive Town is drowning in makers. You have all the above, but also more that contribute to those because . . . okay, let’s take the fabric spinners for example. In Stardew, you can put any type of wool onto the fabric spinning wheel, which will make one kind of fabric. In Olive Town, you first have to have a thread maker to make thread out of grass, AS WELL AS a yarn maker to make yarn out of wool. THEN you have to have a thread fabric maker to make fabric out of thread (and the thread differs depending on the grass used, which means you can make many different types of fabrics, but only one at a time), AS WELL AS a yarn fabric maker to make fabric out of yarn. So whereas in Stardew you have one maker if you need cloth, in Olive Town you need at bare minimum two, at max four, and that’s not even getting into how slow the process will be if you only have one of each kind. Because each maker only makes one of an item, and then you usually need multiples of that one item to make the next item in the series. So for instance, your thread maker makes one spool of thread, but it takes THREE spools to make one piece of fabric. Then you might need TEN pieces of fabric for a recipe. And the makers all take literal in-game hours to make. When you consider that the costs for some things are very high (the house upgrade I’m on right now requires 80 ingots and 120 pieces of lumber), you pretty much have to have at least four of each type of maker to get things done at any kind of reasonable pace, hence the factory hell my farm is currently in as seen in the above linked video. It’s a fucking nightmare.  And yes, maybe it’s more realistic that you can’t go immediately from wool to fabric, but this is a farming sim where you interact with spirits, ride unicorns, and befriend wolves. This is not a game where you need to push realism.
The mining is also just . . . not fun. At all. Not only do you have the “it’s really hard to aim properly, especially when you’re trying not to take damage” issue mentioned above, but there’s also the fact that there’s just no variation. In the first mine there are no enemies at all, you’re just breaking rocks. The second mine introduces enemies, but only one type of enemy (basically little moles that you have to whack with the hammer). The third mine has the same enemies, but they’re stronger and appear in multiples. And that’s it. Unlike in Stardew, where there were tons of different monsters that did different things that made the mines exciting, here it’s pretty boring because the enemies are easy to avoid (and it’s best to avoid them because of how much of a pain in the ass to hit them without taking damage from running into them is) and the levels all pretty much look the same. Whereas I loved dungeon crawling in Stardew, here it’s something I purely do to get ore to make ingots in the stupid fucking makers because there’s literally no entertainment value to it otherwise, especially since the music is subpar at best.
Related to the mining, when you defeat enemies or drain lakes you can find bags of items that need to be identified at the museum. You can only have Reina identify these bags one at a time. So it’s a bunch of spamming the A button and hearing her go “oh!” over and over and over again because they, for some reason, couldn’t implement identifying items more than one at a time. And the best part? Identifying items comes with a LOADING SCREEN between you selecting the item to be identified and Reina identifying the item! How fun!!
You can really tell that they cut corners in this game, content-wise. For instance, the first festival in spring is an egg hunt. You would think that it would be a minigame where you look for eggs (again, like Stardew). You would think that, but you would be wrong. Instead, you get to watch an extended cutscene of your character finding eggs. That’s it. That’s the “egg hunt.” I skipped the mushroom hunt in fall because I assumed it would be the same, but apparently that one actually was a minigame, so joke’s on me, I guess. But either way, the fact that the egg hunt wasn’t an egg hunt at all speaks to cut corners and rushed dev time, just like the myriad of other problems that plague this game. It’s pretty bad when you can’t even include an egg hunting minigame for whatever reason (or at leas come up with unique events for spring and fall).
There is a ton of furniture with which to decorate your house, which is great! Or it would be, if you were actually given freedom to decorate, but you’re not. You can buy whatever furniture you want, but there are very specific places where you’re allowed to place it, and nowhere else. For instance, furniture and rugs can only go in the little space in front of your counter in your house in the first two house upgrades (Log Cabin and Small House). This space is very small. Despite there being a GIANT ASS FLOOR with which to cover a rug, I wasn’t able to use it until I got the third house upgrade. You have a huge empty table that you’re not allowed to put anything on. You can’t move any of the furniture around, nor can you rotate furniture that you buy when you place it. You also can’t place furniture on rugs either. Seeing so much furniture in the game is pretty exciting until you realize that you can do basically fuck all with it. Apparently they didn’t have enough time to implement real decoration into the game either. (Then again, imagine the lag in your house if they did.) As a final complaint, you can buy picture frames that claim to let you place framed memories in your house. You have a camera as an in-game tool, so you’d think that you could place pictures of your pets or your love interest in your house. You would think that, but you would be wrong. There’s no way to change the pictures in the picture frames, or at least none that I’ve been able to find just yet.
Just like Stardew, when you first arrive at the farm in Olive Town you find that it has been completely overrun with nature, and you have to spend time clearing away the debris so that you have a place to build your farm. Unlike in Stardew, the debris comes back at a ridiculously fast rate. Several in-game hours, if not more, of each day are spent cleaning up puddles (even if it didn’t rain), breaking rocks, clearing weeds, and chopping trees. Your farm can easily become overrun with nature again in just a few days’ time, meaning that a lot of your time that you would spend doing things like scavenging the mines or talking with villagers is instead spent doing basic, boring chores around the farm so that you still have livable land. And while farming sims like this one are games that are basically built around doing chores at least in part, the extent of the damage in this one (given that it happens all day every day, instead of just at the start of each season like in Stardew) really kills any fun or enjoyment you’d otherwise have as a player.
Farm upgrades come as entirely separate buildings, rather than expanding on the current building you have. So while in Stardew you could turn your existing Barns into Big Barns (and then Deluxe Barns), in Olive Town you have to buy an entirely separate building, and then painstakingly move all your animals to the new building one by one. Similarly, you can buy a silage to upgrade from your silo, but you’ll still have the silo on the farm. It doesn’t upgrade your existing development at all, despite being an upgraded form of that existing development.
I could go on, but you get the idea. Pioneers of Olive Town has some good ideas, but ultimately the terrible gameplay and lackluster execution of those ideas leaves so, so much to be desired. I will say that a patch was released recently which improved the loading screens a little, and for that I added the .5 to the score. (I took notes on things I liked / disliked / was neutral on as I played, so that I wouldn’t forget anything.) But a slight improvement to the loading screens doesn’t do much to help it when the lag is still terrible, the game still has freezes, and overall the gameplay itself just isn’t very fun. I probably will keep playing it for a bit longer to get to the marriage scenes at least, since I’ve almost maxed out Laura’s hearts. But honestly, there are so many better life sim games out there (the oft-mentioned in this review Stardew Valley being one of them) that if someone asked me if I recommended this game to them, I would have to say no.
Let’s hope the dev team does better with the next game. Maybe not feeling the pressure of it being the series’ anniversary will take some pressure off of them while they make it.

as much as i love bridgette AND geoff they’re relationship was like not it.
excluding island because personally i loved there buildup and everything and honestly although they were really stereotypical i enjoyed watching them interact.
but then in action they turned into this mushy-love sick couple who would not stop making out for the life of them. not only was this like SUPER annoying but it didn’t fit any of their characters. i’m totally against the idea of “THAT” couple,, meaning the one that always makes out. but if fresh really wanted one of those couples i still don’t understand why bridgette and geoff? if i had to choose i would have done lindsay and tyler (not that i would want this to happen again totally against this idea but seeing as they are the stereotypical “dumb” couple it would make kinda some sense..)
idk it didn’t fit them at all. but that wasn’t even the worst of all. so... after they get eliminated first (for making out omg) they host the aftermath show blah blah. ANYWAYS. they’re relationship all of a sudden is made up of two things;
1. arguing
2. making out
like they got so messy for absolutely NO REASON. they would fight on air while they were hosting a show like cmonnn. and two seconds later they’ll be sucking face. and yes ik this is similar to the duncney troupe and all but the significant difference was that they’re relationship wasn’t designed based on that, geoff in island was really awkward around bridgette at first and bridgette liked geoff because he was a good guy. whereas duncan and courtney were actually designed to be that couple that argued alot-
idk i love them both and i adore island gidgette but i felt they just derailed both of they’re characters. bridgette in world tour literally CHEATED on geoff,, when i was watching i was like “yeah idk who this girl is but it’s not bridgette” because like SHE WOULDN’T DO THAT. same thing with geoff when he was hosting the aftermath in season 2 and i was like yeah no we don’t stan this “new geoff” at all.
anyways i’m happy they redeemed geoff in rr but still-

Austin’s top 10 favorite ND music tracks (with links):
I think that one thing that every game has, regardless of how good the game is, is good music. So, being the music lover I am- I know these all by name and always have. I challenge specifically @iwantakokokringle @professorhotchkissesta @hurricanesonny @ziracona @thebeastofblackmoor @charleenapurcellslaptop @thebrothershardy and ANYONE who wants to participate to share some love of the ND music in this ranking challenge thingy!
So here they are, my top 10 tracks from the ENTIRE series.
10) Monkeys- Ransom of The Seven Ships. This is pure summer bop beach music. Although I have a lot of problems with RAN’s adventure style, the music is a big plus of it and is why it is ranked higher in my previous ranking post.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3osNT8GxGA
9) Culture- Labyrinth of Lies. I love and have ALWAYS loved everything about this game, but this song in particular has stood out to me. It is the one I find myself doing homework to, and it just fits the atmosphere perfectly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvjvl1YSsU0
8) Legend- Legend of The Crystal Skull. Long time Austin friends will know CRY was my first game, and thus this song was my very first ND victory music and honestly, it is PERFECTION. Hearing this play while walking through the cemetery and when finding the skull made this game perfect for me, and I will always remember this as my first ND victory jingle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjAPSx6Z87Q
7) Fiona- Haunting Of Castle Malloy. HAU is truly beautifully haunting, and one of the best things about the game is the music. I think I cry just about every time I am playing HAU and this song plays. Fiona is a truly tragic character, and this music hints and hints at it. Art.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RaTt-0kL8g&t=5s
6) Drive- Secret of Shadow Ranch. I have always had some problems with SHA (Mainly the repetitive chores), but this song motivates me to actually do the chores and I have always loved it. It also PERFECTLY plays as Nancy is riding Bob for Tex and lassoing, and sets this game’s tone in the best possible way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYoFWnJ2Cbg
5) Moulin- Danger by Design. This is probably one of the most memorable songs from any of the ND soundtracks. This song is the one that always plays in my head, even though DAN is not one of my favorites. This is also the song I study to @ladylindaaa (teehee), and is just all in all beautiful.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5bvjRoaxe8
4) Society- Last Train To Blue Moon Canyon. I was torn between this one and “Train” (the victory music when you find the map), but society has always been the most memorable from TRN for me, even though it doesn’t really set the tone like other games do. Sneaking around the train with this music playing I think is a religious experience.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBhbHIv49-s
3) Shanty- Sea of Darkness. (I am not including the vocals to Word I couldn't keep to maintain the theme of instrumental) SEA if perfection, from Dagny, to atmosphere, to music. This music really set the music in the games at an all time high (which sucks if you consider how MID was. MID’s music was fun but a drastic difference from SEA). This track is everything.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RDZHEGumr8
2) Bridgette- Curse of Blackmoor Manor. WHat’s that? My CUR fav ISN’T Renaissance? It's more common than you think. This song I have always been able to sing the sung version of from memory. This song is probably the single most iconic thing from this game, if not the entire series. CUR is at a peak when ND was at it’s prime, and I cannot stress enough how amazing this song is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ORzRtCBrjE&t=27s
1) Past- Ghost of Thornton Hall. NO ND track has every moved me or set the tone of the game so accurate as much as this one. This track moves me to tears every time I hear it. It is the perfect combination of sadness, but also a bit of mystery. The name alone of this track is THE PRIME THEME of GTH and it will always be my favorite song from the series.

Story Idea ADDED ON AS WELL AS EDITED
Title: The Song We Heard That Day.
Loosely Based on Mermaid Melody
Summary: After her kingdom is destroyed, Princess Marion of the Red Pearl has no other choice but to walk on land and take on the identity of Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Marinette:
Princess of the Red Pearl as well as the North Atlantic Ocean (Which is the Ocean Near France). She is about 20 years old and her name in the mermaid world is Marion, however, in the human world, it translates to Marinette. In both human and mermaid forms, she has her regular hair color-black with blue hues. In her mermaid form, her hair is long and loose, having long rose red ribbons in her hair. She wears her princess red shell pendant, which holds her red magical pearl. Her eyes are a light red when in mermaid form and blue when in human form. In mermaid form, her tail is crimson like her ladybug suit, wine-colored pearl bangles are wrapped around the end of her tail. She also wears a light red seashell bra and has a red bracelet around her right upper arm. She wears orange-red conch shell earrings in her mermaid form, while in human form she wears ladybug themed earrings. In her idol form, she wears a long dark red halter neck dress with a slit on the right side. She wears a light red sash around her waist neatly tied into a large ribbon. She wears a rose gold opal ring on her left hand and a red pearl bracelet. She wears short strapless scarlet heels with frills on the top. Her long black hair is tied into two long thick pigtails by two red pearled scrunchies.  Idol Marinette holds a white and blue microphone which holds her red pearl. In her Aqua Regin form, she wears a long sweetheart neckline white dress that hugs her figure just right. She holds a gold staff and wears white heels. Her hair is completely down cascading around her feet. Her eyes are blue like her human form.
Reason for coming on land:
She comes onto land due to her castle being attacked. She is accompanied by Tikki, basically her lady in waiting.
Songs:
Promise Land ( Mermaid Melody)
Missing You ( Kana Nishino)
Legend of the Mermaid ( Mermaid Melody, AmaLee version)
More will be added eventually
Traits: Since she's a mermaid, they are quite smart and know all the land languages. She speaks mermaid, however, can speak every other language.
She’s great at making things as well as designing things, She’s a fast learner which is great since there’s a lot for her to learn on Land.
She met Adrien when she was 8 years old by a lagoon ( maybe)
She met Adrien after she saves him(too cliche)
Adrian: Age 21
Panthalassa ( Meaning “All Sea” in Greek) origin
Adrian and Felix are twin boys that were born on the day of the Great Sea War. Out of desperation to keep the bloodline and power of the Panthalassa alive, the people of the Panthalassa gave their remaining strength to the twin boys, giving them the power, as long as they were united, to destroy the world and everything on it. When the Aqua Regina found out, she separated the boys and their powers. Felix held the power of Darkness and was locked away in the Panthalassa castle, while his younger brother was given the power of light and was washed up on the shore, where Emile and Gabriel raised him. Both his parents died due to Bridgette unlocking Felix, which caused a horrible storm.
Adrian has no idea about where he comes from ( He finds a letter from his parents explaining he’s adopted, shortly after their death) but suffers from, what he thinks are “nightmares”, when in actuality he is seeing things from Felix’s perspective. Adrian has the power of light and will often faint when he overexerts himself. He uses his powers often to save Marion (Marinette) from danger. His personality is a mixture of chat noir and his normal personality in the show, however, due to him feeling lied to by his parents and having lost them, he does have some destructive behavior. Adrian has a tendency to drink and party hard. He can be quiet flirtatious and cheeky, but at the same time, he can be an ass at times due to his hurting in the inside. Like his brother, Adrian feels alone in the world, however, he prefers to suffer alone about it. It would be interesting to write him this way. Adrian wears different outfits every day and is very well off due to inheriting all of his parent’s assets. Since his parents died out in the sea he has developed a hate for it, though this is only apparent when drunk. Before his parent’s death, he would often play by the beach by the summer house his parents owned, which is where he met Marion (Marinette). He heard her singing one day and since that day they played every day until his parent’s death. After his parents died and since they were extremely famous, Adrian left France to live in the summer house in order to never be found by the press. This story takes place in a distant town that is completely made up that is on a remote island by France. Adrian doesn’t talk much about his parents and is very protective of his past. He was 8 years old when he met Marion and thought he had made her up but one night when he was walking by the beach he heard her singing, that’s when they were reunited again. Before Marion / Marinette showed up again, Adrian has an on and off-again relationship with Kagami.
Felix: Age 22
Panthalassa Clan
Felix was cursed with the powers of darkness, which made him get the shorthand of the stick, in terms of fate. He was cursed to live all alone, having only the deep-sea animals around him as companions. He wears a black Victorian style dress shirt, black leather pants, as well as black pointy shoes. His hair is like PV Chat Noir trailer, wild and untamed. He talks softly only to Bridgette and is very impatient, in regards to his servants. He met Bridgette when he was just a small boy and would dream visit her. At first, he thought Bridgette was a figment of his imagination, but later figured out she was real. They were linked due to their lonely hearts and found comfort in each other. He loves Bridgette and would do anything to make her happy, which is why he is trying to capture all the mermaid princesses and his twin brother in order for them to be together. Felix’s biggest fear is to lose Bridgette. They have a very physical relationship.
Bridgette: Age 20
Once the kind and caring indigo princess, Bridgette now lives in the dark. She has a cold exterior when talking to anyone who isn’t Felix. Her hair that was once Periwinkle, has now turned completely black, while her eyes remain blue. She wears a long black strapless silk dress and covers her hair with a black cloth making it hard to see her face at times. Felix is the only one that knows she’s in the castle, keeping the sea demons in the dark of her presence. She cares deeply for Felix and very much loves him. She turned her back on her kingdom when she stole the key that locked away Felix in his castle and released him. They have a very physical relationship. She betrayed her kingdom when she found out the sad fate that Felix had to live. At a young age, she would have constant dreams about Felix, thinking they were just part of her imagination. Bridgette has always felt lonely in life due to her kingdom keeping her locked away from others. She felt suffocated in her own kingdom, finding peace with Felix. Wanting to give him the freedom he deserved and the chance to be together, Bridgette stole the Panthalassa key and freed him. Her hopes are to capture the other princesses and find Felix’s brother in order for them to rule the world together.
Alya: Age 21
In Slavonic, "Alya" means "beautiful" or "scarlet", possibly a reference to her red-brown hair. In Arabic, "Alya" means "sky," "heaven", or "loftiness".
She is the Princess of the Indian Ocean and the holder of the orange pearl. She is the only Princess to use her Ocean name on Land. Alya’s kingdom was attacked before Marinette, therefore she has been on land for a while. On land, Alya has her original hair color and length ( wavy reddish-brown Ombre hair). When she is in her mermaid form her hair is much longer and thicker and is tied into a high ponytail with an orange pearl covered scrunchies. She wears an orange-gold pearl headband crown, a treasure in the Indian Ocean Kingdom. Her hair turns into a red-orange, while her eyes turn from hazel to pale orange-yellow (Apricot). In her mermaid form, her tail is orange. Wrapped around the end of her tail are gold bangles. She wears an orange choker which is connected to a sheer orange shawl that stops midriff and parts in the middle of her chest. Like Marinette, she wears a bracelet around her upper right arm, expect its pumpkin color. She wears a vivid red-orange ( Coral) seashell bra and of course her princess orange shell pendant. In her idol form, she wears something that can only be described as a belly dancing outfit similar to Princess Jazmin. Alaya’s crown now has a sheer orange veil that covers her now loose red-orange hair. She wears a strong orange (orange peel color )  off-shoulder short sleeve crop top. The crop top is decorated with different shades of orange beads. Alya also wears a simple orange pearl belly chain. She wears sheer orange harem pants with an orange-yellow high street lace-up gladiator styled sandals that are tied onto the pants. She has an orange studded nose piercing and wears orange bangles on both her wrist.  She also holds a white and blue microphone that holds her pearl as well.
When it comes to her songs for some reason I really was living for Alya having a style like Doja Cat in Say So. I don’t know why I went for that but honestly, it felt like it fir her. I would love to give her an Arabic song to sing as her mains song but I need help for that.
The songs I have her singing in the story so far:
Say So
Plastic Love Cover by Caitlin Myers
Tikki owns a club where Alya performs under the name “Rena Rouge”. She dances and sings. I picture her being very flirtatious and alluring, which is a trait all mermaids have. She’s a vixen when performing at the club. It’s at the club that she meets Nino. Alya plays hard to get, making sure to tease Nino until he begs for more.

idk if this is an unpopular opinion but Felix feels like a Fanservice character, he really has no point to serve the story maybe to be the throway for the "next hawkmoth" theory but considering that he's model is just a copy paste of adriens really shows how little effort was put into him. he only appeared so that fans would stop asking thomas about him, who knows maybe bridgette will also appear for more fanservice.
Yeah honestly it sucks because it misses the point of why people wanted him in the first place. Like, I DID want him to be a villain because I think deciding the character doesn't work as a hero and then retooling him to be a villain makes a lot of sense.
But what we got wasn't Felix it was another Adrien imposter... He's already going to be compared to Adrien and PV Felix, why make it harder for him to win fans over? Why not let him stand on his own two legs with his own face? But fine, too late for that, we give him a chance and watch even with this design and we find that he's basically male Lila. Except I feel like, in Volpina we got the character establishing line from Lila telling Ladybug "we'll never be friends". With Felix I feel like the way he acts in the episode is fake for his own agenda and him smirking out the window after giving his mom the ring doesn't really tell me too much. I don't hate him or particularly like him he's just kinda nothing and I'll need another episode to decide if I care about him.
I don't know about Bridgette because it doesn't seem like there's as big of a difference between her and Marinette as Felix and Adrien. Felix as a concept got changed because he wasn't heroic enough... I think the change of Marinette liking Adrien because he's nice is good, it makes her character more likable.
But I think the original lovesquare idea with Felix is interesting because maybe making Marinette's crush and Adrien's entire character more palatable is a bad thing because they still are portrayed as flawed but it's kinda swept under the rug now instead of understood as negative. Marinette falling for Adrien because she realises he's nice removes the aspect of her only liking him because of his looks and/or because he's famous... Which creates this weird superiority thing where it's okay for her to stalk Adrien because her feelings for him are pure while Lila and Chloe are villified for acting the same way because they're shallow and don't ~really~ love him when it shouldn't be okay either way. And Adrien actually being in love with Ladybug instead of just wanting his curse broken makes his repeatedly asking her out and guilt tripping her when she says no a lot less understandable actually. I can see the original Felix concept eventually really falling for Ladybug and then backing off because he cares more about her and her comfort than his curse now. And similarly Marinette/Bridgette actually has a convo with Felix and likes him in a less creepy way.
idk I dont even care that much about the PV but I understand being let down lol. again i dont hate canon felix i think a lot of fanon felix content is quite crap m.

hey, Bridgette! you are absolutely talented with your design, themes and everything! are you comfortable with talking a bit about your coding journey? like, how did you start out and was it always something you wanted to do? I’m just starting to self-learn code and I never knew that was something I would be doing, so I’m interested in what type of experience you, one of the fantastic coders I look up to, had! x
hey thank you so much!! That’s very sweet of you.
I don’t mind talking about it at all! I’ve talked about it a bit on my theme blog but probably not since like 4 years ago haha.
I originally wanted to be a composer actually. I played piano as a kid until high school, but it’s really more of a hobby for me. I didn’t get into coding until my last year of high school in 2015.
I really loved theme blogs before that tho and kind of wanted to make my own but was too intimidated to try learning.
It wasn’t the healthiest way of doing it, but I did a LOT in a short amount of time and I definitely don’t recommend doing that. I got burnt out shortly after and didn’t start making themes until several months later in 2016.  I didn’t release anything right away, though. I waited until I was a little more confident before I started publicly posting anything.
So while manic energy is what got me through that initial bit, it honestly helped me a lot in managing healthy amounts of learning vs manic levels of learning.  It’s really easy, for me at least, to jump in and try to do everything at once, but it’s best to take it slower and make sure you understand what you’re working on before you jump into the next thing. Try to avoid copying + pasting tutorials and actually going through *why* they work.
And the more I practiced and made things, the more I liked it.  Even now that web design is my full time job, I don’t really feel like I’m “working”. it’s just what I already did every day.
This was way longer than I wanted it to be. But I hope that was a good enough answer haha

Finished Hot Couture!! So here’s another debriefing post from me (Spoiler Alert!):
Honestly as someone who also loves fashion, I could not stop myself from buying outfits, mood board pieces and ESPECIALLY hairstyles! Literally the only thing I didn’t buy was the LI diamond scenes unless they held mood board pieces (and even then I was very platonic lol.. well except for Luz). It was so good!!! At first I was a little bit unsure of it because MC sorta seemed very..... lucky?? like who gets that amount of success in such a short time? (but then I have to remind myself that this is not real life lol) but I loved it nonetheless. I also love how our choices actually mattered in the end (a bit) since I’ve been nice to Cleo and Bridgette (though that bitch did NOT deserve it) all throughout. I love the design aspect of it!!!! I just wish that you can actually mix and match pieces you’ve accumulated like I wanted to wear that red leather jacket or those stacked golden necklaces we got at the start with other outfits oh and also that yellow resort wear, you can wear separately but only with a plain top or bottom accompanying it. It worked for accessories here like I could wear glasses and shades with all outfits, I just wish we could mix it up with everything else too. I loved the sketchbook, I wish there were more of that!!
Onto the characters, I respect Hazel’s character quite a lot (though I made the mistake of taking it rather than quitting at first because I believed in her THAT much. I restarted the chapter when she fired me because I wanted my MC to have more dignity than that lol if only real life things can be fixed with a chapter restart no?) and I love how amazingly supportive all of her friends and LIs are. Although I was literally worried about all their well-beings like, I don’t work in fashion but I work in a very fast paced creative industry and holding down one job like that and working tirelessly on your free time FOR FREE for a friend, is one sure fire way to burn you the fuck out. I’m just glad they all resigned at the end lol. Not much of the other characters stood out that much for me but I was almost 100% invested in MCs journey. It’s like I didn’t want it to end and I want to be there reading about what happened in London Fashion Week or how she builds her fashion house even more. Idk about you guys but personally I feel like this should also warrant a second book. (Like literally take my money at this point if you’re really going to make a second book because I’ll end up buying 75% of the diamond choices anyway)
There were still some loose ends for me like with Bridgette and Otto. It’s not that I want them to have a happy ending or anything, I just wish there was more of an aftermath? if there were consequences or anything? (maybe this could be discussed in a book 2? please???) especially Bridgette like I know they exposed her that she only stole MCs designs but she seemed to be still high and mighty about things like I would like to see her try and fail at making her own designs. If she had the audacity to get MCs designs and pass it off as her own then she shouldn’t be that good? There was a chapter where she tried to show Hazel her designs prior to Milan, and if she was as good as she thinks, maybe she could have passed off her own designs during the time and didn’t have to steal MCs like fine I know it makes for good drama but it just solidifies for me the fact that Bridgette isn’t that good creative-wise. And I want to see her crash and burn just to knock her off that high horse she’s on.
Honestly though the drama and all the developments NEED more than just 16 chapters. I want to read more of it, and I don’t want to let go of my bad-ass MC yet. I even named her as “Reyna” which means Queen in my native language.

What Does Modest Fashion Really Look Like?
Pinterest UK tells me that searches for "modest style" are up 500% considering the start of this year. The worldwide modest style marketplace is already reportedly really well worth loads of billions and is about to scale up with the aid of using gargantuan proportions over the following 5 years. A professional on line save known as The Modist has simply launched—complete of certainly modest portions from an brilliant roll name of emblem names, and each form of lady is buying from the site, whether or not they discover as "modest" or now no longer.
Tumblr media
When you step out of doors of this particular realm, it is simple to look that runways, cool manufacturers, and road fashion stars alike also are extraordinarily embracing huge shapes, covered-up silhouettes, and innovative layering. Modest style is everywhere. But what precisely is it? As a whole, this motion has been choosing up the tempo for nigh on a decade, however there is nevertheless a fogginess approximately what it manner to be a modest dresser, what it seems like, and the way it is affecting fashion-aware ladies proper now. Keep studying to find out extra.
So what does "modest style" honestly mean?
If there is one element all the ladies I spoke to agree on, it is this: There isn't anyt any one definition of what modest style manner, however it basically pertains to having a diploma of cognizance in terms of protecting up elements of your body. This chasm of statistics we can not categorize and pigeonhole contributes significantly to the mass marketplace's uncertainty of a way to talk with and deliver to ladies who need modest style. It also can make anybody who isn't always individually versed withinside the idea sense ill-ready to speak approximately it, however possibly confirming its ambiguity can assist to push the idea forward.
The fact is that everybody has their personal concept of what modest style manner to them.
"Modest style as a term, as a marketplace term, got here to occurrence withinside the mid-2000s, and this changed into partially due to the fact some of the manufacturers that first commenced up got here from designers and innovative marketers who have been themselves religiously motivated," says Reina Lewis, professor of cultural research at London College of Fashion, UAL. She defined to me that the net made it viable for savvy, underserved religio-ethnic people and companies to begin imparting each the goods and content material that they have been missing.
Tumblr media
As Hana Tajima—the British-Japanese Muslim style fashion dressmaker who these days collaborated with Uniqlo on various modest-pleasant style—tells me, "The fact is that everybody has their personal concept of what modest style manner to them. And that runs along peoples' private alternatives of shadeation and fashion. It's one of these extensive concept that receives very slender inner the ones words."
So, in brief, modest style can describe various stages of protecting up on purpose. The selection may be because of religio-ethnic achievement or to gain a positive aesthetic and stage of ease as it isn't only a fashion this is tied to spirituality.
Why is the mainstream style enterprise speakme approximately it now?
First up, let's examine the number one stat that receives referenced time and again. According to the Global Islamic Economy Report, the Muslim style spend on my own withinside the UK is envisioned to reach $467 billion with the aid of using 2020. This is, in part, because of increasingly more millennial Muslim ladies—or Generation M—who've large quantities of disposable income, way to their new positions withinside the place of business in preference to the home.
Outside of records and figures, take a 2nd to reflect onconsideration on in which style is headed proper now: Social media has induced variety to come to be a mainstay—now no longer a gimmick—in the enterprise. It's additionally shone a mild on the (obvious) records that ladies of various shapes, faiths, colors, sizes, and backgrounds may be simply as elegant and may be similarly treasured customers.
The worldwide reaction on every occasion the modest style marketplace is addressed highlights simply how tons this faction desires to be spoken and catered to. When DKNY advertised a Ramadan series of present portions that have been appropriate for modest dressers in 2014, the click insurance changed into phenomenal. The equal is going for whilst H&M decided on Mariah Idrissi to function in a video in 2015. She have become the primary hijab-sporting version to function in one of the megalith's campaigns. She tells me her life "modified overnight. I changed into scouted in a shopping mall quickly after graduating college and [had been] making plans on running for myself in a innovative field, however I by no means predicted to be a version."
"That went viral inside minutes," Lewis says of the high-road campaign. "I assume the manufacturers worried have not found out the urge for food for this … how tons it'd get taken up. I assume Mariah were given extra traction and insurance than the alternative human beings worried in it, however the video changed into revolutionary in some of approaches in phrases of the way it offered social variety for style."
If I'm now no longer spiritual, can I be part of the movement?
Lewis explains that whilst the modest style marketplace is predominantly developing withinside the Abrahamic faiths (it truly is Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), consistent with census data, an increasing number of younger humans are figuring out as "spiritual, now no longer spiritual." With that during mind, it is pretty feasible that piety and modest dressing is a through-product, however yes, anybody can get dressed modestly—to any degree—in the event that they need to.
Tumblr media
"I might make the factor that girls interpret necessities to get dressed modestly in lots of specific ways, and the manner they interpret it could extrade over their life. Within anyone spiritual denomination, there could be some of specific interpretations and practices," Lewis says.
"Interestingly there are a variety of non-Muslim girls who're interested in this aesthetic," Tajima says. "There appears to be an overlap of subcultures and girls redefining what femininity approach to them. It allows that the garments are inherently comfortable. Japan has been fairly receptive to my collaboration with Uniqlo. I suppose a variety of girls are not always conscious that the garments can be visible as 'modest style.' It's only a fashion that resonates with them."
Women interpret modest get dressed necessities in lots of specific ways, and the manner they interpret them can extrade over their life.
Is it a accident that the outsized silhouettes—just like the super-huge trousers or announcement sleeves—we are into are so widespread at the runways and in shops proper now? Fashion is usually a mirrored image of the cultural conversation, and nowadays there are extra alternatives than ever for dressing modestly. Lyst, the data-crunching style seek engine, has visible an boom in associated phrases such as "excessive neck" or "lengthy sleeve" growing through 40% and 52%, respectively, during the last six months. Meanwhile, the logo notes that even extra precise categories, such as "modest bikinis," are triumphing out over skimpier styles.
What's the largest false impression approximately modest style?
Once you placed apart the false impression that modest style is most effective tied to spiritual and religo-ethnic desires, among the professionals I tapped for data have been short to pressure that masking up would not need to equate to searching uninteresting or keeping off trends. Anum Bashir, a Dubai-primarily based totally influencer regarded for advocating modest style on her blog, Desert Mannequin, absolutely debunks the parable that modest style "cannot be on trend, or that designers do not layout for the modest dresser. … I love having a laugh with garments as of late: colors, prints, layers, etc. What I do not have a tendency to do is display an excessive amount of skin."
London is so multicultural and one of the style capitals of the world; the modest style scene right here is so colourful and alive.
Does Bashir's system sound acquainted to you? It's one which I share, but I've by no means purposefully sought out or aimed to take part withinside the modest style movement. The concept is some distance from restrictive, is of the same opinion Lisa Bridgett of The Modist, a newly released e-trade platform focusing on a luxurious amassing of the maximum modest-pleasant portions.
Tumblr media
"Modest dressing is set choice, approximately fantastically styled portions that resonate with the wearer and offer an exceedingly style-ahead method to being in-season. At The Modist, we're loving the tremendous and enlightened responses to our style proposition that we've had from modest clothing for women , girls throughout faiths who put on garments to marry with their values. … In many ways, modest dressing presents extra possibilities for girls to get dressed stylishly."
Who have to you appearance to for modest fashion inspiration?
There's no person metropolis or platform that policies the modest style kingdom—and through now it is simple to look that is a lot extra than burqas and maxi dresses—however Idrissi explains that London is a quite satisfactory vicinity to start: "As London is so multicultural and one of the style capitals of the world, the scene right here is so colourful and alive. I sense we take style pretty seriously. However, I will say even though we've a few adventurous dressers, I sense a lot of us [modest dressers] have a tendency to get dressed as an alternative in addition however with our very own little cultural or non-public twist."
