I think me and Duck were switched at birth or something LMAO
All of my siblings are amazing at art, don’t even need to try. But I can sing and dance. Hell, I made the highest choir that a freshman could get into back in high school choir tryouts, and then in my second year I was in the highest choir + I tried out for a “show choir” (which was singing and dancing, only 10 - 12 girls could get in and only 2nd highest and highest choir girls can try out) and made that as well.
Meanwhile, Duck’s amazing at art and their siblings are good at singing...

Since Pirates in the Caribbean is part of Disney why not add in to twisted wonderland about sirens since we did it before
Liked sirens are never mermaids but former humans who are wrongfully judge, heart broken, or died tragically at sea in a desperate moment an old sea deity answer their call and took their soul and memory for their old lives to be something dangerous to protect themselves to the point even merpeople fears them in the past, but now they are very rare and few between
And when they found true love the siren will die once they birth a child as they can only give their hearts as it's all they have left, but the cures are any descendents will forever have that yearning to be with ocean and if they ever change form by magic will be forever be a siren
What if half fae Snow Leopard whenever they get really stressed or upset they head to any large body of water near home or at school and just change form to cool off and only her closet friends knows about that secret
Let's say Leona, Jade, Azul and Floyd helps her out in her moment of stress and takes her somewhere where she can be in the water in their mer form and safely cry it out as they wanted their mate to feel safe in their moment of being vurnable and her singing an old sailor song " my jolly sailor bold " as it's a comfort song
But Kamil and Lilia an outsider accidentally discovered the secret and listening to her singing
Tumblr media
Siren Song? | Yandere Twisted Wonderland x  Half-Fae Leopard Crewel Daughter Reader
Hah! Half-fae Leopard Crewel Daughter Reader? Sorrowfully singing such a heartfelt song and openly relying on others?
It’s the stuff of dreams
Even in this alternate reality, she would sooner die than be saddled with the embarrassment of sharing such pitiful emotion
But she has no connection to Sirens main storyline wise
As previously stated she doesn’t mope, hardly cries
Any and all frustrations are carried out by her violent anger bursts
Now if anything this situation reminds me of a previous situation where making you laugh is the objective
Otherwise, tears will not be shed
And certainty not in the presence of even her childhood friends
Let alone the sneaky interlopers
With Kalim, she just might indulge in him
“You’re such a dumb dog I doubt you’ll understand anything of what I’m saying….but that–this situation is disgusting and I hate it. That’s why I absolutely reject it!”
Now with Lilia, she gets far too worked up to even consider whatever there is to brood about
She’d sooner attempt to kill the fae than actually do anything else
“UGH, EVEN HERE THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH DIASOMNIA COCKROACHES! I’M GOING TO TEACH YOU A LESSON!”
But I do see swimming as a minor vice to your calming process
If you’re not laughing at someone’s pain and misfortune
You might go for a swim
But that isn’t usually what you do unless you're goaded into it
“Come on, (Y/n) let’s go for a swim. M-maybe cool off a bit?”
“Cool off!? From what?”
“(Y/n) the tension is teeming–”
“You look like you could commit a murder!”
“Well I know I look killer! But I’m assuming you mean something else….fine. Move out of the way Floyd or I’ll use your head as a stepping stone.”
“Please!”
Leona on the other hand is a master at this and doesn’t need a body of water to cool your jets
Simply his presence, usually impedes your snappy nature anyway
So both of you kitties can relax without the water

rollo x reader that's like esmeralda
fem! yuu
also I like copied the first scene from the Disney version
rollo has old fashioned ideals? is that what it's called. just very catholi? christian? but like in the old no freedom for women way
also like yuu or you wears like revealing clothes or somewhat of that so beware of that
I kinda rushed this so probably shitty
I personally don't find it dark, but again very religious in a shame on you for wearing that type of way
I think that's all I need to warn you abt
also why the fuck did my azul fic flop😭😭 I think I loved that one the most soo... check it out (ik ik self promoting bitch)
azul fic
"see the finest girl in twisted wonderland! coming all the way from pomefiore in nrc! make an entrance to entrance! dance! yuu!" the announcer said before throwing down a handful of pink powder
it causing a small explosion and in his place, yuu dressed in the finest clothing. although a bit on the revealing side
a red dress with purple accents. a fitted off the shoulder top, with flowy short sleeves made of chiffon. the skirt was a pencil skirt shape that goes down to the ankles, but with a slit on the right side that goes up the upper thigh
her hair was down with a golden/silver headband adorned with rubies (or any jewels which color compliment you) her ears, wrists, and ankles also covered in gold/silver
dancing to the song of the festival, with a chiffon fabric in hand. swaying and gliding in the stage as if it were ice
rollo was confused weather to be disgusted or entranced
he cannot deny that you were beautiful, ethereal even. if he were to categorize you, he would probably label you as a goddess
but your clothing, the way you present yourself. do you not have self respect? only modest women are respectable women
you continued to jump and dance around, when you then went to the other side of the stage. where rollo's chair was stationed
dancing around the chair before plopping yourself in his lap, bringing him in with the fabric. caressing his face, bringing your face toward his
before playfully exchanging the fabric with his hat, leaving him stunned
continuing the dance around the stage, a few flips, and a split. before taking a guards spear, stabbing it to the ground, and using it as a poll to spin around in
after spinning around a bit you stopped, facing the crowd posing, your right arm and leg up in the air
"and now ladies and gentlemen, here it is the moment you've been waiting for!" the announcer said as you left the stage
rook handing you a towel and a bottle of water. teasing you for taking the school presidents hat
after the event outside the nrc students left to their rooms to freshen up before the ball. they call it a ball but it was more of a casual socializing event
the guys were wearing suits that closely resemble their dorm uniform whilst yuu took a different approach
a form fitting purple spaghetti dress with a v-neckline and a slit also going up the thigh. and white tulle on her shoulders tied in the front
her hair styled with a small crown, and wearing stud earrings
rollo went and did his responsibility and conversed with the students of nrc
the chat was nice, no pauses too long to be considered awkward
the chat ended with some members departing, others sticking around
"pardon me? rollo, right?" yuu asked already knowing the answer
"hmm? yes you're correct" he said
"ah, I just wanted to return this, it would be awfully impolite for me just to keep it" yuu said handing over a box containing a freshly washed hat
the two continued to converse, seemingly not running out of thing to talk about
they found out that they have a lot in common
from their hobbies to favourite foods, they were like the missing halves of each other
the moon was up in the middle of the sky, departing them
heading to her room yuu felt giddy, finding a gentleman like him
rollo however already planned how to talk to her again, researching her interest and likes
rollo doesn't like that sultry woman, no he couldn't. that could be considered a sin by itself
but can you blame a man for being swayed by the siren's call?
in front of a fire place he repents, for conversing with such woman, for liking such woman
maybe he could be the one to bring her salvation. yes, who else could do it but him
so be a good girl and go with him, and he shall pave the way to both of your eternal paradise. with each other

2024 Spring Anime
Tumblr media
Kaiju No. 8 This series started the same time as SpyxFamily and I've been waiting years for it to be animated. It's a series I was instantly hooked on. The animations in the teasers were incredibly sus but I'm glad to see it's pulled together. This is a must watch for this season. Noteworthy On-going Shows: Delicious in Dungeon - Episodes 13-24 A Character based comedic fantasy that honestly has me hooked. New Seasons:
Tumblr media
Demon Slayer - Hashira Training Arc I can't believe we're already here. I think this will be one of the last 2 or 3 seasons of the show. This is one I'm not sure what to expect in terms of story but I'm looking forward to it regardless.
Tumblr media
That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime - Season 3 One of the Og's is back baby. This is one of my all time favourite shows, one of the original fantasy/isekai series. This series gets better and better and I'm so hooked to each character. 100% biased opinion but if you haven't seen this, go check it out.
Tumblr media
My Hero Academia - Season 7 This is one that I haven't caught up on the anime for so I'm not 100% where we are but I'm pretty sure it's about to get real dark. I think lots of people have put this show on the backburner or have dropped it entirely. But I really have to say we're starting to head into some of the peak of the series. It gets much darker and more serious and starts to shift from the original shonen high school style.
Additional New Seasons: Mushoku Tensei - Season 2 Cour 2 I won't lie, this arc honestly doesn't look very appealing to me. That said, I have faith in the writers and will be watching and updating if it picks up. Both of these shows from 2008 coming back were not on my bucket list but here we are: Spice and Wolf - Looks to be a re-make of the original series Black Butler - Public School Arc - New continuation of the og series Also: The Misfit of Demon King Academy II - Part 2 The Irregular at Magic High School - Season 3 Laid-Back Camp - Season 3 New Noteworthy Shows:
Tumblr media
Wind Breaker A new series about a delinquent who moves to a school where it's all about being the strongest and beating each other up. Honestly it reminds me a little of Food wars but if it was actually about fighting instead of food lol. The animations look stellar, I'm actually pretty excited to check this one out. ( I'd also say it looks completely different to Tokyo Revengers so I wouldn't compare the two.)
Tumblr media
Mission:Yozakura Family A newer shonen jump series about a kid who tries to integrate with a mismatched family of spies. Looks like a lot of fun and has a similar vibe to some old school SJ series.
Tumblr media
Go! Go! Loser Ranger Why does this look so good. This series genuinely looks so cool, the animation look out of this world and the story looks killer. From what I can gather it's a guy who always plays the villain and is sick of his role. The story shows the heroes as villains and gives me a bit of Invincible vibes. (This is a Disney+ exclusive) The Fable I've heard that this is one of the most legendary comedies. I know there's a few live actions for it on Netflix but I haven't had a chance to check it out. I feel like the trailers don't seem to get anything across so this'll be one I'll follow up on.
Going through the extra shows is now the bane of my existence. I want to go back to before all the isekai light novels were being animated. After doing this I feel defeated that some of these look half-decent. Whisper Me a Love Song Wholesome girl's love series about figuring out what kind of love they feel for each other: 3 Episodes The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio 2 girls who's offline personalities are total opposites, their rivalry in a brutal industry. Looks like it could be a fun slice of life series: 3 Episodes Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night Looks like a really well done series about a group of girls forming an anonymous idol group: 3 Episodes
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability The animations actually look amazing from the trailer and this series could be cute: 1 Episode An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride I think this might be a guilty pleasure show. I like the idea of the awkward romance between these two. Likely wouldn't reccommend this for a normal watcher: 1 Episode Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again Animations and concept look fun: 1 Episode Notable OVA's: Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture A prequel to the original series. The animation looks just like the OG and I'm so stoked that this is coming out.

For reasons I will blame on a tweet that said “I just saw someone refer to TS and TK as ‘The English teacher and PE teacher getting it on’ AND I LOST MY MIND” and one of Taylor’s many amazing new songs on TTPD, “So High School,” it appears that I have joined the ranks of the psychos writing fanfiction about real people. We do AUs pretty well here on tumblr so, in this alternative universe of mine, the names, appearances and some elements of what is publicly known about these real people have been borrowed from actual reality and used to populate an entirely fictional story about teachers in a cross-discipline romance. Obvs I do not know any of my “actors” in real life and obvs this is not meant, in any way, to speculate about any of the named people’s actual lives. Also, some of my “actors” are just identified by their first names here but they are all played by real people in my head and you’ll probably pick ‘em if you’re even vaguely aware of actors, musicians and prominent figures across and around the NFL. And it’s set in the high school that Devi Vishwakumar goes to because, why not?
“She’s back,” announced Dalton, slumping into his chair and dropping his head dramatically onto his desk amid a tangle of whistles.
Pat chuckled. “Sorry dude, I was going to warn you but I never thought she’d agree to sub so soon after getting back into the country. Tammy must be desperate to cover classes. The poor girl’s probably still jet-lagged.”
“She doesn’t look jet-lagged,” muttered Dalton without lifting his head. “She looks like her perfect Disney Princess self, just more tanned from a year under the Spanish sun.”
“Dude,” said Pat, shaking his head. “Sometimes I wonder if PE is the right spot for you. You’re still young, it’s probably not too late to switch to something more dramatic.”
Travis looked from one colleague to the other. “What am I missing here?”
“Dalton has a crush,” said Pat. “It’s kind of endearing. She’s only a full decade older than he is and completely out of his league.”
“Shut up,” groaned Dalton.
“Knock, knock!” called a voice from the staff room doorway. “Paging Mr Travis Kelce.”
“English teachers?” said Travis, getting to his feet, his tone incredulous. “Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that a pair of lost English teachers at our door? What are you two doing slumming it over on our side of the school?”
Dalton looked up in wide-eyed horror which quickly turned to relief when he saw which of the English teachers it was, or rather, wasn’t.
“Hey, Trav,” said Jack, accepting the embrace the bigger man offered with a grin and thumping him warmly on the back. “Em and I are worried we might have developed some kind of Stockholm Syndrome since our shared week on Grade Seven Camp. We really miss you, buddy.”
“Jack and all his pretentious poet friends are used to looking down on jocks. Now that he’s embroiled in a bromance with one, he’s finding it all very confusing.” Emma waited until Travis had released her from her hug before she added, “And we’re here to use you for your access to sports equipment.”
“Hurtful,” said Travis. “But it’s nice to have you guys visiting me in my staff room for a change. I kind of stick out like a sore thumb in yours.”
Jack snorted. “You know those old ladies love you.”
“They’ve started bringing in packets of those chocolate cookies you like just in case you pop by,” said Emma. “Better not leave them hanging, Trav.”
“Cookies, huh? Ok, I’ll be round tomorrow recess.”
“Nah, that won’t work,” said Emma. “Taylor swans in for thirty seconds this morning in a sleep-deprived haze-”
In the background Dalton surreptitiously lifted his head off the desk, the faint imprint of a whistle on his cheek.
“- mentions she watched Dead Poets Society on the plane ride home from Spain and suddenly they're all selecting extracts of poetry, dusting off an old gramophone and sending us over here to you lot to borrow some soccer balls.”
Travis looked from Jack to Emma with a bemused expression on his face. “Am I the idiot here if I have absolutely no idea what you two are talking about?”
“I know!” piped up Dalton. “Are you guys gonna recreate that scene with Robin Williams on the oval?” He nodded knowingly. “Iconic. I should tell Taylor I’m a fan too.”
Pat laughed. “Yeah, Dalton, you should. And maybe Taylor could come over while you watch the movie with your girlfriend. Remember her?”
Dalton glared at him then resignedly dropped his head back to the surface of his desk.
“Who’s Taylor?” asked Travis. “Is she another one of the old ladies with the cookies?”
Dalton scoffed dramatically, muffled though it was.
Pat cackled. “You okay there, Kinkaid?”
Emma pushed on Travis’ arm to get him moving. “C’mon, we’ve all gotta get to our homerooms eventually. We’ll explain while you take us to the soccer balls.”
“You are a lifesaver, my girl,” said Tammy, patting Taylor fondly on the arm. “I cannot thank you enough for coming in today.”
Taylor pushed her blonde hair out of her eyes and blinked sleepily. “What if I fall asleep on them? You don’t understand. I think it’s a real danger!”
Tammy laughed. “Hard to fall asleep in PE. Besides, you’re just there for the supervision ratio given that this is all of Grade 8 combined. Travis will have it all under control.”
“Travis?” asked Taylor. “Am I so tired that I’ve forgotten the name of a guy I’ve worked with for six years or is this someone new?”
Tammy looked up from her laptop in surprise. “Oooh, no, you wouldn’t have met Travis yet. He’s an old friend of Pat’s from college. Apparently they used to play football together. When Bill retired at the end of last year, Pat put in a call to his buddy and this place has not been the same since.”
Taylor nodded. “Ok, yes, this is sounding familiar. Britt did mention that some old friend of Pat’s had started at Sherman Oaks and that he was always at their place. I’m a bit worried he might have muscled into my spot at Friday Night Wine.”
Tammy considered her a moment. “So did you meet anyone in Spain? On your big single girl adventure?”
“I mean, I did.” Taylor shrugged. “He was nice, I guess, but nothing really came of it. We went our separate ways after a month or so. If I’d found the one, I might not have come home.” Taylor narrowed her eyes. “Hang on, why do you ask? What does this have to do with PE?”
Tammy patted her hand and handed her the class attendance papers. “You’ll see. Let’s go introduce you to Travis.”
“Okaaay,” said Taylor warily, as she followed Tammy dutifully out of her office. “You’re the boss, Mrs Reid. I’ll just grab a coffee and meet you there.”
The local school district’s baseball competition had half the PE staff out at a neighbouring school for most of the school day and long into the afternoon but Travis wasn’t worried, even in the face of all the Grade 8 PE classes combined. Tammy would find him a spare adult or two to stand around the edge of the gym and take care of supervision and he would get to teach more of his favourite unit - Grade 8 Dance. Last combined lesson they’d learned the Electric Slide and totally nailed it. Today he was gonna make the kids partner up and learn the Cha Cha.
He plugged his phone into the sound system and cued up his playlist of Latin beats, cranking the volume as high as it would go, then headed over to unlock the gym doors and usher in the waiting students.
“Mr Kelce?” a familiar voice called from the gym entrance once the students had all shuffled in.
Travis turned to see the wife of his former football coach, now one of the Sherman Oaks deputy principals, waving to him. “Mrs Reid!” he boomed back, dancing his way over to her. “Come and cha cha with me. Let’s show these kids how it’s done.”
The older woman laughed and said, “Why not?” momentarily placing her ever-present sheaf of paperwork on a table near the door and giving him her hand.
The kids whooped and cheered as they watched Travis demonstrate how to be the perfect dance partner. He had particularly high hopes for these Grade 8 boys. They sorely needed a good example of how to treat other people, especially girls, and he hoped he could fill that role for them. The song playing came to an end and he spun Tammy out into the middle of the floor so they could both bow extravagantly, hamming it up for the student reaction.
“Let’s thank my extraordinary partner one more time,” Travis called. “Give it up for Mrs Reid!”
Tammy waved and curtsied then grinned at Travis and made her way toward her pile of papers and the door.
“Ok, get yourself into the grid we learnt last week,” Travis instructed as he walked over to the sound system to cue up Shania Twain’s Man, I Feel Like a Woman. “We’re gonna warm up with a few rounds of the Electric Slide and I know that you guys are awesome at this so make sure to give it your own flair!”
He cued up a few songs to follow, mainly chosen to give the students a laugh. He chuckled to himself as he selected Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby and Kool and the Gang’s Get Down On It.
Raising his eyes from his phone and looking over the heads of the line dancing students, he saw a statuesque blonde woman walk through the gym doors, a huge smile on her face as she took in their enthusiastic movement.
“Ms Swift?” cried out one of the girls. “You’re back!”
“Hi, Sophie!” she replied, waving as she made her way around the outside of the grid towards Travis. “Keep dancing! We’ll catch up later!”
Travis suddenly didn’t know what to do with his hands. He barely stopped himself from shoving his phone into the pocket of his shorts and disconnecting the cable to the sound system.
“Hi,” she said as she drew near, smiling broadly and holding out a hand to him. “I’m Taylor.”
“Travis,” he replied, taking her slender hand in his. “Nice to meet you.”
“Hey Trav,” said Jack, wearily looking up from the pile of papers he was grading. “Em’s around here somewhere if you’ve come to get the soccer balls back. Thanks for that by the way.”
Travis waved a hand. “No rush. Was it a success? Should I be worried I’m gonna lose half my football team to poetry or whatever?”
Emma’s head appeared over the top of the partition dividing their desks. “Not if their essays are anything to go by,” she said dryly, yanking off her massive headphones.
“Oh, hey, Em. Didn’t see you there.”
She gestured with the headphones. “That was kind of the idea. I was laying low. But then I remembered how much I hate marking and how much more fun it is talking to you.”
Travis grinned. “So, it seems you two left out a crucial piece of information when you were talking up your pal, Taylor, this morning.”
Both sets of tired eyes lit up.
“You’ve met her already?” asked Jack excitedly. “What did we leave out?”
Travis rubbed at the back of his neck, smiling shyly. “Neither of you told me she was gorgeous.”
Emma whooped. “I’m gonna get some of those cookies.”
Jack grinned, shoving his pile of papers aside and leaning back in his desk chair. “Tell us everything,” he said.

Trey: *Trying to explain Riddle is that way because of his mom*
Me: Give me a minute as I pull up my ‘Trauma Doesn’t Excuse Sh*t Behavior’ PowerPoint.
Say it with me, everyone: an explanation is not an excuse 😊
You know, the other day I was watching one of Ryan George's Pitch Meetings and when Producer Guy asked Writer Guy how the audience would root for the villain of the franchise and the response was "he's handsome" which basically explains most people's reactions to fictional men.
Prepare for incoming rant that has little to do with the ask
This probably might come as a shock because one of the main appeal of twst would be the whole villainous aspect/Disney Villain fanbase but I don't really like villains that much, at least, not romantically. Like don't get me wrong, I think that they're incredible characters and it would be so fun to sit down with one and have a conversation with one. Villain songs are so fun (I was literally singing ‘This Day Aria’ to myself the other day I haven’t heard that song in like a decade) and you can tell that that characters like Scar or Hades or Shere Khan or Jafar or Maleficent are having so much fun being deliciously evil and even the more serious, complex ones like Loki or Frollo are fun to pick apart so yeah I understand the hype. I just always rooted for the heroes and I guess heroic characters have always been more my type.
My mother absolutely loves Erik Destler and is forever salty that Christine chose Raoul (despite my many many attempts at arguing why Raoulstine is the superior couple - smol primary school me could not understand why my mum liked the chandelier dropper and was deeply concerned), my best friend has been in love with Heathcliffe since we were eleven, and my little sister has literally told me that her type of fictional men are the toxic red flags (not exactly word for word but she did explain why she likes bad boys over good boys when I was complaining about how my type (wholesome soft boys) always get sidelined for the arrogant, snarky bad boys - we're also very diametrically opposed on our views of friends to lovers (my s++ tier all time favourite and her loathing) vs enemies to lovers (I can't really stand it - Pride and Prejudice is the only exception - and that's literally all she consumes) so that might also be a reason).
Like, I understand the appeal of a Byronic hero (Mr Darcy has far too much power) - a closed off, broody man that hates everything but you? And will burn down the world to keep you warm? I can respect that there are people who dig that. But their not really for me.
The mild bout of insanity thirteen year old me had where I spent two months attracted to Edward Rochester is an outlier and should not have been counted (though that was during my wattpad phase so...)
But I can admit that I have yet to shake off my feelings for Dr Henry Jekyll, Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray (though to be fair, Mr Gabriel John Utterson the lawyer and cinnamon roll artist boy Basil Hallward do own my heart). And yes, Jeremy Jordan did make me question my morality as he did make my feelings for Light Yagami be too positive to be sane for a brief moment (Touta Matsuda is still my man, don't worry). But apart from them, literally all of my faves are what you'd call your traditional, morally upright heroes.
Basically what I'm saying is that my perception might be skewed because I've never had the whole 'villains are cooler' mindset when it came to stories. Yes, I love the villains as characters but I always liked their heroic foils more (goodness is just so attractive to me). You get lots of amazing heroic protagonists that have horribly tragic backstories and they're the ones I always fall for because the idea of being a kind sweetheart despite the world being anything but is just *chef's kiss* that's a kind of strength that's so swoon-worthy.
I guess that's why it's harder for me to look past the characters' actions in twst is because, well, they chose to do everything they did. They made a conscious choice to be terrible, despite understanding the consequences. Riddle may have been brainwashed into becoming a tyrant by his mother but he still admitted that he knew he was being horrible - he understands the concept of morality, of good and bad, and he willingly and deliberately did everything he did.
I suppose this text post I found on Pinterest would explain my point better:

Barbie in the Nutcracker: First Thoughts
The following is my thoughts while watching this for the first time.
Credits look awful. Still, it’s 2001 and this is the first installment so I’ll give it a pass.
Only know the basic Nutcracker song and theme but nice that it uses an orchestra
Barbie herself doesn’t look too bad but her little sis… yikes.
Kinda weird to see these dolls moving like mocap performers.
Heh! Barbie’s voice actor has the same name as her little sister.
Kelly very clearly sounds like an adult woman trying to do a kiddish voice.
Lipsyncing is odd, looks more like generic flapping.
Surprisingly decent snow effects.
I’m assuming Clara’s parents are either dead or abandoned them. Or they could also just be on vacation.
Is it wrong that I find Grandpa cute? Gives off a very distinguished vibe. Especially that voice.
They call gingerbread houses “christmas boxes”? That’s… interesting.
Kinda wish they gave Clara a different voice from Barbie, or at the very least a different hairstyle.
The lighting is actually pretty good! Nice warm hues, makes me feel like I’m at a cozy inn.
Her little brother looks like the kids who played Fortnite and would tease me in high school. Of course his name is fuckin’ Tommy.
This CGI is reminding me of early PS2 cutscenes.
Aunt Drosselmayer’s got that 90’s Leo DiCaprio/Hugh Grant parting in her hair. Bleh.
Why is Clara the only blonde in the family?
Ooh! We’ve got some family drama between Auntie and Grandpa. This is getting juicy.
Elizabeth is giving me confident bisexual vibes with the voice and manner of movement. Bet you that’s why Grandpa doesn’t trust her.
Looking at the wiki I just found out that Trixie’s VA voices the Aunt, Starlight’s VA is Barbie and Cadence’s VA is one of the kids! Must be a Canadian production.
I will never not find the word “nutcracker” to be hilarious.
Clara, why tf are you fighting over a toy with your lil brother? You’re like… 17? 18? I dunno but it’s way too old.
Seriously they gave Tommy the most punchable face ever. Not that I’d ever punch a kid but I can see why other kids his age would deck him.
Magic shenanigans are ensuing.
I like the medeival look of the rats. The CGI actually fits them well.
Clara wakes up to see an anthropomorphic warrior rat right next to her eating something and is just like “goddamn it, git ya varmint!” I love it.
Oh, she thinks she’s dreaming. That makes sense to why she’s so calm.
Hmm… I feel like the Rat King should look a bit more evil, and larger as well. Still, TIM CURRY! I’m gonna LOVE this.
Woah! We’re getting a fight scene! A swordfighting scene to be exact!
Oooh the Rat King’s magic and can shapeshift his weapon. That’s metal AF.
Tim Curry putting everything into his performance as usual.
I’m kinda surprised we’re already getting a Nutcracker-Rat King battle. I’d have thought they’d save that sorta thing until the third act.
Did they really have to change it to Sugarplum Princess? Fairy just sounds more powerful.
Wow! This snowy cave is beautiful! Something out of a classic painting.
EWWW THESE LIL SNOW FAIRIES LOOK DISGUSTING!
Did this nutfucker not realize that an icy fortress would have ice for the walls?
The fairies doing ballet looks weird because they have nothing to stand on.
Please don’t tell me the small fairy is staying, I hate her.
Dance is currently reminding me of Fantasia.
“The fairies probably went off to make a blizzard somewhere”. The way he said that nonchalantly had me cackling.
The effect of Clara’s footsteps turning into flowers is beautiful.
Pimm sounds like he’s an absolute troll online. Also gives me Psychicpebbles vibes (though I know it’s not him).
Wow the Rat King is a straight up genocider.
Why do all the kids look like Kelly?
OH DEAR GOD THAT LITTLE BOY LOOKS HORRIFYING.
Wait Prince Eric? Are they legally allowed to call him that? We all know how much Disney loves copyrights.
Man these kids are little shits and their outfits are gagworthy.
Major Mint definitely got a big personality, and the voice actor does a good job with it.
Ok Mint is hilarious and is so far the best part of the movie.
Nice to see some Asian rep with Captain Candy.
Wow, Rat King turns his failed employees into stone. Dark!
The zoom in on the Rat King as he says “that’s it?” made me giggle.
Thomas Astruc looked at the Rock Golem and got his first idea for an akuma.
Wait how the hell does Clara know that the Nutcracker is Prince Eric? I mean I already assumed because of the plot of the original ballet, but how does she know?!
The bridge scene gives me the willies, since I’m afraid of heights.
Wow this flower fairy is the only kid-looking character that has a decent design.
Didn’t expect a song to be interrupted by an enemy.
Lol, the Major’s monocle falls off as he sees the giant.
Glad to see the fairies serve a purpose other than dancing. Kick that giant’s ass!
Captain Candy’s a better man than Mint, as he actually makes sure that he gets saved.
Once again, the island is beautiful! Reminds me of Oz with the colored roads.
Ooh clever! At first I thought the castle’s backdrop looked really fake but I just factored it was because it’s 2001 CGI. But it was actually a trap!
Nice we see a test of Clara’s character that she passed.
The invisble hand touching Clara’s hand is actually making me feel kinda teary-eyed internally.
The Rat King definitely has a Napoleon complex.
Loving the character arc for Nutcracker with his final duel.
Ah! So now the Rat King is growing. Fits for the climax.
Huh… Prince Eric looks more like Jimmy Pesto than a prince.
Lol Major Mint realizes he’s been shittalking the prince.
Huh, so Clara’s the princess? I guess it sorta makes sense since it’s her dream.
For those princes out there who are hated by the public, all ya gotta do is fight a giant mouse.
Mint and Candy got the moves! Best dancers of the entire movie.
The final dance between Eric and Clara is absolutely gorgeous.
The villain was taken down by a snowball… I love it.
God Kelly Sheridan and Kirby Morrow really put everything into the scene where Clara disappears.
Lol Kelly’s Canana accent shows up when she says “It’s not a story”.
“What’s all this foolishness about mice kings and bats, Clara? Enough of your womenly hysteria! Time for a lobotomy!” Grandpa, basically.
Actually now that he’s in a suit, Eric looks a lot hotter.
I’m surprised Barbie’s little sister had the attention span to listen to a 1 hour story.
I'll be making a full review of the film soon. Let me know thoughts in the comments and reblogs. @artzychic27 @msweebyness

I’m bored so here’s a ranking of the Austin and Ally seasons IMO
4) Season 1
Tumblr media
It was cute. They were all such babies.
It was goofy and the songs were bops. No drama, just fun.
What was the wardrobe department smoking tho , because why did they have Ally (a 14/15 year old girl) looking like a grandma? Austin, you’re not getting away with your wardrobe choices either buddy.
3) Season 4 (there i said it)
Tumblr media
In terms of comfort episodes, this season has it all for me. No drama (until towards the end of the season) just vibes.
The comedy for sure matured and the characters were developed and grown up.
Also AUSLLYYYYY. They were 100% married for the entirety of the last season, no one could tell me otherwise. They were just living their best life being happy. They all acted like normal high school teens in this season which I liked. (I liked when they got to be normal teens instead of pop stars all the time)
Austin and Ally were in FULL mom and dad mode with season with Trish and Dez being the fun aunt and uncle.
Also younger me (and low key present me) wanted Ally’s wardrobe. SUCH an improvement from season 1.
Genuinely such a funny season with a lot of funny episodes.
BUT I low key missed Sonic Boom and there were a lot of filler episodes (IMO). Also idk if its just me but I felt like they were acting more grown up than they actually were.
Also where were all the performances? Where were the Auslly at the piano scenes? WHAT WAS UP WITH AUSTIN’S HAIR?
With all that being said I still really loved this season.
2) Season 2
Tumblr media
The writers really did that!
The comedy, the goofiness, the angst, the drama, the romance! THE WARDROBE CHANGE!
THE FUCKING PERFORMANCES! (That ‘Better Than This performance’ + that ‘Tunes and Trials’ episode lives in my head rent free)
BABY AUSLLY! THE BEGINNING OF THEIR LOVE STORY! ALLY LOSING HER STAGE FRIGHT! WHAT WAS IN THAT MF NOTE?!
That finale still has me in pieces
The comedy was still kinda childish but it was a Disney show! Come on now.
THIS was the season that hooked me onto the show. MWAH chef’s kiss.
AND COMING IN AT #1, WE HAVE SEASON 3!
Tumblr media
I don’t know what the writers were on this season but MY GOD!
This was peak Disney Channel greatness for me. Younger me was SHOOK!
The comedy was matured and the episodes were entertaining af.
The angst and THE DRAMA!! THE JEALOUSY!!!
Cannot think of a bad episode this season. (Well…)
THAT FINALEEEEEE! THE BIG I LOVE YOU SCENE!
Started off with Austin and Ally missing each other while he was on tour, a few shenanigans in between, a few relationships filled with jealousy AND THEN ended with an Auslly love confession and Austin giving up his career for her! Who’s doing it like that?!
Also what was in the water that year, cause how did everyone look so damn good?! Ally’s hair will forever be goals, it was GIVING.
There was a balance of comedy, romance and drama AND performances and that’s what made this show what it was essentially.

Film #914: 'La La Land', dir. Damien Chazelle, 2016.
I really like old-school Hollywood musicals, and I've always been sad that it's a genre that has gotten harder and harder to find in modern Hollywood. Most of the genre has since been supplanted by Disney films and either low-budget works or jukebox musicals, produced because there is a ready audience for the songs. While there has been a shift towards film adaptations of Broadway hits in the last decade or so (Les Miserables (Tom Hooper, 2012), Into the Woods (Rob Marshall, 2014), Cats (Tom Hooper, 2019)), it's a poor sign of the genre's health that there are no longer any major actors renowned for their consistent career in musicals - no Astaires or Crosbys or Garlands. So imagine my glee on hearing that a new, original musical was being made! One that hearkened back to the Hollywood spectaculars of the 1940s and 1950s! La La Land! The promotional photos looked reminiscent of the soundstage musicals that I had fallen in love with! At long last, it was time!
So, I didn't watch it for seven years. I don't know exactly why I didn't - a combination of having a lot going on in my life that stopped me getting to theatres, and then an internal rebellion against the amount of praise the film was receiving. It certainly wasn't helped by the Oscars debacle - there's nothing that diminishes a film's prestige quite like conspicuously not winning the Best Picture award. Finally, this year, I sat down to watch it, hoping I would be wrong, and that the shine would still be there - that I would be transported.
La La Land is not bad. It's also not transcendental.
Tumblr media
Mia Dolan (Emma Stone) and Seb Wilder (Ryan Gosling) have both moved to Los Angeles to pursue their dreams. Mia wants to be an actress, but has found work in a coffee shop on the Warner Brothers studio lot. Seb hopes to revitalise jazz music in Los Angeles by refurbishing a famed jazz club. Mia encounters Seb by chance, and loves his music, but their first few interactions are filled with hostility - road rage, a thwarted introduction at the moment Seb is fired (in a cameo by J. K. Simmons, who also starred in Chazelle's Whiplash in 2014), and a terrible Hollywood pool party. Finally warming to each other, the two begin dating and encouraging each other to pursue their dreams in whatever way possible - Mia by performing a one-woman show, and Seb joining a jazz-pop band fronted by Keith (John Legend). Just before Mia's show opens, Seb returns from touring, and the two argue bitterly over their future and how to reconcile their two careers, ending with Seb spitting vitriol about how Mia cannot stand his success. The two break up, and Mia returns to her childhood home.
Shortly after this, Seb receives a message for Mia, inviting her to a casting call. He goes to retrieve her, and her audition is a success. The two talk about how, while their lives are not compatible, they'll always love each other. Five years later, Mia is a successful actress and Seb has opened his club. They once again meet by chance and, after considering what their life together could have been, they each go their separate ways once more.
You might notice that, in this description, I haven't paid much attention to the songs or music in this musical. That's because, in all honesty, not very much of it was memorable to me. The opening number 'Another Day of Sun', and 'City of Stars', the song that gets used as a motif throughout, remain catchy, but they're the only tracks that left a mark. That's a real shame, because they're not really the turning points of the film. And while Gosling and Stone show that they're relatively accomplished as singers and dancers in this film, it's also clear that they're not accustomed to doing this kind of work regularly. 'A Lovely Night' is a prime example of this - it's a couple's dance number, and the choreography is not exactly simple, but Stone and Gosling look like they've learned the dance in isolation from each other. This is a number where the easy chemistry that the two of them have temporarily gets put on hold so that they can focus on the steps.
And I'm aware that this is an incredibly pedantic thing to gripe about. I don't mean to damn with faint praise - these actors are doing something difficult, and doing it well. What really gets me is that, when you're making a musical, you have all sorts of tricks to cover over these brief weaknesses, and La La Land often doesn't use them. The score feels oddly quiet, even in its more bombastic numbers. 'Another Day of Sun' starts things off, but the opening vocalist sings, rather than belting, and by making the score supposedly diegetic to start, there's not enough there to support her. I know I ended my last write-up by expressing gratitude that films were now available to watch outside the cinema, but this is an instance where I wish that I'd seen this years ago. I just couldn't turn my speakers up far enough to get lost in the spectacle.
Tumblr media
Talking to people about this film, there seems to be an even split on this matter: either you can lose yourself in what's going on, or you can't, and if you're in the latter camp, the musical side of La La Land is too banal. It's colourful and pretty - filmed gorgeously by Linus Sandgren - but I'm reminded of the maxim of musicals, attributed to Rob Marshall: "When movement isn't enough, you dance, or when speaking isn't enough, you sing." A few people I've asked about the film raised similar ideas - that it feels like Chazelle is trying to force an exuberance from his audience when there's not enough genuine emotion to support it.
This is what makes the second half of the film better for me, and this is where I found myself able to embrace the film more. The latter half of Mia and Seb's relationship, once they've actually fallen in love properly, is powerfully-acted, and the reprise of 'City of Stars' is beautiful. The break-up scene is absolutely stellar, and either Gosling and Stone could justifiably call this one of the best scenes of their career. In a musical, though, this height of emotion would normally call for a song or a dance, and there isn't one here. The emotional height that does get a song is Mia's audition, where she sings 'The Fools Who Dream' in what appears to be a single take. This is an excellent performance, and it alone could have been responsible for Stone winning the Best Actress Oscar that year. Then, of course, once Mia and Seb have briefly reunited, they share a fantasy sequence that is filled with a longing that's deeply affecting.
The thing that upsets me most about the film is that once you've started dissecting it, you see how underwritten parts of it are. The opening leaves its characters adrift, trying to sell you on optimism and exuberance that don't have enough of a foundation - no matter how many BMX stunt riders and parkour experts 'Another Day of Sun' crams in, it feels thin - and even the break-up scene is mostly successful because Stone and Gosling have easy chemistry and the ability to sell you on ideas by injecting them with emotion. That doesn't prevent the central conflict from seeming like a contrivance.
Seb is, admittedly, insufferable at times (I'm not going to get into whether he's a white saviour of jazz, because plenty of people have made arguments on both sides of that topic and I could easily agree with either camp). I think his biggest flaw is that he's unable to articulate his motivations, which makes the conflict a bit of an idiot-ball plot. Faced with having to explain why he's 'sold out' by joining Keith's group rather than following his passion for pure jazz, he can't do it and immediately belittles Mia. It feels like it would be easy to explain that someone could find satisfaction in playing two different subgenres of jazz, and even playing them off each other to push the boundaries of music further. That feels like something Seb would genuinely believe in (and something that Chazelle, being a musician, would also be familiar with). It would also open up opportunities for more complicated conflicts - a jazz battle! A tortured artist number! - without affecting the overall plot. I just don't think the film has the expansiveness to tackle it.
Tumblr media
Yeah, this sounds like I'm trying to assassinate the film. I liked it, honestly. I was still humming 'City of Stars' a week later, and it made me like Stone and Gosling more as actors, which I hardly thought possible. All the breathless excitement, though, about the film resurrecting a genre, and changing the course of film history... it was overblown, without a doubt. La La Land proved that these films could still be made, and very successfully. The fact that so many modern musicals are either adaptations of things proven to work, or jukebox musicals where the plot is largely incidental, shows that crafting a fully successful musical is not just about the songs but about the plot that links them. La La Land does it better than most, but it's not what I was craving it to be.

I'm thinkin bout old people again, and how working in an assisted living/ dementia home opened my eyes to so much going on in aging. How their disabilities aren't being met in a place meant to meet disabilities. How the workers are overworked so they're napping behind the desk rather than spending time with their residents. How their drive to do fulfilling things persists despite the system treating them uniformly. How one activity person is definitely not enough.
The deaf woman didn't have tv captions or an aide she just sat and colored and was communicated to via whiteboard. She was a musician who raised a large family of musicians. When we made cupcakes she had an expert hand since she raised her seven brothers and sisters in addition to her seven kids. She used to sneak out to dance with boys when she was young.
The 80 year old lady from Sri Lanka didn't think she was going to live this long. She wanted to go home to die. She felt trapped in this prison and would act out to get visits from her family. She loved playing word games and Bingo and always helped clean up after each activity. She walked around like a teacher, hands behind her back, observing the people. She liked to take her food, which she hated to eat, and try to feed the squirrels. Her favorite song was que sera sera. There's nothing like a room of people with dementia all singing que sera sera.
The British ballet teacher always wanted to go out and was best friends with the deaf lady. The Vietnamese pharmacist insisted on wearing every hat she could find and had a gallery wall of her own art. The residential school survivor loved to kiss her puppy toy and would have him sit in other people's laps when they were sad. The 100 year old Black woman would tell me about her church and tell me the ladies who dressed her every morning needed Jesus. The divorcee who loved puffins would pray with me to end the suffering of her family who obviously were suffering which is why they never visited.
The disabled-all-her-life clown was so proud of her husband's awards at Disney and gave me insider performance secrets. She always wished me luck on theatre. So did the veteran lighting designer who did the lights for all the exhibits at the local science and industry museum for 40 years. He's mentioned in my design textbook.
These are people I knew. Some of them I saw die. And it makes you think about how we will one day, chance willing, grow old, become disabled, and die. We gotta be prepared for it because the system itself sucks. Half these quirks were things to be solved because there's only so much chaos a facility can handle and because the system penalizes "problem" behavior
TLDR old people are important to get to know because they're fascinating and wonderful and also terrifying because one day that will be you and you've got to prepare for it

I was 8 years old the first time I kissed a girl. Not because I was dared, not because I was replicating something I saw on TV, but because I wanted to. I didn't understand why yet, and I wouldn't for several years after that. I was just a kid playing house. I'd never met a lesbian that I knew of, don't even think I really knew that word. And yet somehow, for 8 year old me, the "right" kind of house for me to play a mom in, was one with two moms instead of one. Flash forward to 9, and I'm the one at the sleepover who starts truth or dare. Subconsciously hoping that someone dares one of the girls to kiss me. I'd never seen a pride parade or been told that some women date women. But I always suggested truth or dare at the sleepover. Moving on to 12 year old me, all my friends have crushes on boys at school. "Who do you like?" They ask. Not wanting to feel left out or different, I picked the first boy I saw walking past our lunch table. The other girls giggled because apparently no other girls liked that boy. Neither did I. When I was 13 I got a "boyfriend", because that's what all my friends were doing. We hung out on playgrounds, and he'd carry my backpack for me. One day, he kissed me in the orchestra hallway, and I remember not being nervous or excited about it. But I remembered what it was like when my friend's hand brushed against mine or she tucked the tag into my shirt. The Disney princesses never ended up with another princess. The love songs were never about their friends. And the stories in class never told of a girl who liked other girls. But here I was, 13 years old, asking her if she needed help tying her shoes, helping her braid her hair, and "getting cold" at the sleepover to get closer to her. I was never "taught" to be gay. I was never shown that people like me could be and ARE queer. I was only ever shown straight representation, taught that a normal marriage was between a woman and a man, and I never saw a rainbow flag at school. I liked girls anyway. No amount of rainbow or representation will turn a child queer. Just like no amount of straight representation could turn me straight. But it will tell that child that queer is not a set look, background, or way of life. It will tell that child who's terrified to admit to herself that she isn't straight that she is not broken, weird, and most of all, she's not alone. And that can save a child's life. So, while the rainbows and education might make you uncomfortable, I'll take you being uncomfortable over the loss of a child's life any damn day.

thoughts on wish. (spoilers below)
just a nice, harmless, old-fashioned disney movie. not disney's best by far, but far far FAR from bad
animation was good. full stop
the soundtrack. julia michaels is an amazing songwriter and I feel like her style gives this movie soundtrack a very unique vibe among disney classics. maybe she went just a little too pop-ish in some parts that required more broadway styled tunes and lyrics
loved the introduction with the classic disney book
some critic said the disney easter eggs and references were distracting or like,, they were trying to cover up a bad plot with easter eggs for fanservice. well not true lol. I don’t consider bambi’s mom blink and miss cameo as fanservice I consider it childhood trauma coming back. where’s the fanservice in it
people from all over the world coming to rosas. liked that
“welcome to rosas” was okay I just wonder if she does this for any person coming to rosas. like. like it’s a job? she’s getting paid?
asha is a nice character, despite falling a bit under the "adorkable" main girl stereotype. I still feel like she's well characterized, she is stubborn, selfless and will do anything for her family. stan
valentino's not annoying as you'd think
asha's friends are so cool please I love them all so much HOWEVER some of their lines felt a little flat?? they could have been WAY more fun easily I just wish they had more screen time
gabo is wasted potential you can't tell me otherwise
dahlia was literally nerfed you know that
I love that they picked simon to be the depressed one (he’s meant to represent sleepy from seven dwarfs)
bazeema randomly disappearing because she's an introvert she's so right we do that sometimes
I've seen people complaining about disney being politically correct (as always...) for finally making a movie with a classic villain and then making him redeemable, well he's not?? movie ends up bad for him just like with old villains?? this is literally what we’ve been asking for, a villain who is just a villain. king magnifico has motivations of course but still does bad things and gets punishment for that. classic old school disney villain. don’t know what you want
queen amaya, my love whom I owe my life, marry me
“at all costs” listen. this felt a little out of place. that’s because they apparently changed the context to the song. it was supposed to be a love duet between asha and a scrapped human version of star who was like. a jack frost-y character who fell in love with asha. in the final movie, asha and magnifico are singing to the wishes. it still kinda works, but I really wish we got to see the other way round. looks like they really didn’t want to go full classic love story route, but it’s a shame. I’m sure that would have been beautiful and very very disney. the demo version sung by julia michaels and benjamin rice gives you a glimpse of what might have been and it’s just so good, you should really listen to it
actually listen to all the song demos
that one lady screaming in the crowd I forgot her name but shout out to her
asha's family was there
her grandfather turning 100 just like disney and wishing to inspire people and then composing when you wish upon a star after the credits?? so what??? this man is disney???? wtf????? crying
“this wish” bop. next
star’s not annoying as you’d think
the animals were cute john the bear my beloved also the mushrooms please
“I’m a star” actually empowered me okay!!! you know what that squirrel is fucking right we are fucking stars!!!!
“thank you for not eating me john” “you’re welcome bambi” that was wild
breakdancing chickens and it didn’t feel cringe. a miracle perhaps
asha’s friends are so normal about star
simon being sad about making star sad… certified good guy
did I mention I wish we got more of asha’s friends
anyway why does star only grant the animals’ wishes. why do all animals just wish they can talk human
I'm thinking screaming lady's name was sania maybe??
“this is the thanks I get?!” is the perfect song for magnifico. way more in character than “at all costs”
magnifico coming to asha’s house was scary
asha really can swim is she also moana or smth
simon betraying her broke me. never trusting a himbo again
“knowing what I know now” instant bop. please all of them singing together about magnifico being a bastard? queen amaya suddenly entering the room and the music stops and they all just stand there like oh man we fucked up? and then the queen just slams the door and bursts into singing about her husband being a bastard too?? that gave me major chills like yeah girl leave him take me instead
asha and wands: a love story
the bunnies please
“this wish (reprise)” they really defeated the villain with the power of friendship AND by singing this is the most disney movie to ever disney
queen amaya becoming the single queen she deserves to be you go girl (but I'll still have her if she wants me)
simon my man we forgive you you were depressed. it’s not your fault
asha becoming a fairy godmother is actually kind of cool
"oh so you wanna fly? nice. meet peter pan" honey you say it so casually
A BIT SALTY ABOUT THE ENDING. it's not bad but that would have been WAY more emotional if they let us see asha say goodbye to star. especially because they say it's gonna happen soon, so what's the point in not showing us?? asha and star hugging and crying and then star flying up to the sky. asha looking up at the stars, smiling with tears in her eyes and then the camera moves up to the sky and star has become THE star like the one in pinocchio and princess and the frog. all of this with the "this wish" instrumental. that was a perfect way to wrap it!! also oh my gosh imagine asha saying goodbye to star boy!!! ç_ç
the credits with various characters were a nice touch but why on sweet planet earth did they put yokai as a representative of big hero 6
the credits song, "a wish worth making" just... exists. the lyrics though. they hit hard
I really stayed until the end of the credits just to watch 3 seconds of sabino playing music
final verdict: was ALL the hate for this movie deserved? hell no maybe you should just remember you’re a star and relax

Olfactory memory is the wildest thing.
The other day I was just sitting and waiting for my class and I randomly started smelling something that would NOT stop putting the thought of Good Luck Charlie in my head and I had no idea why. I mean, I hadn’t even thought of Good Luck Charlie in such a long time, and now I had the theme song playing in my head. As I sat there, perplexed at how a smell could remind me of any TV show, let alone such a random one from my childhood, it suddenly hit me what the smell reminded me of. Those squishy cake toys.
Tumblr media
I think it was May of 2017 when I had received one of these from a friend as a party favor from her 13th birthday party. I loved it. I mean, I was infatuated by it. It smelled (kind of?) like strawberries, and you could squish it every which way and it would slowly grow back to its normal size and shape. It really wasn’t all that exciting or remarkable, but I loved it. I would be holding it, squishing it, smelling it, all of the sensory aspects that I could possibly take in from that toy, all throughout the summer of 2017 (especially the early summer).
I didn’t watch Disney channel growing up (for what I used to think was because my parents didn’t want me to watch it, but it turns out we just didn’t have access to it for a while) and I wasn’t really allowed to watch YouTube on my own because of negative experiences my parents had had with my older sister, which had made them more stringent on rules. Of course I, being the big Rule-Breaker I was, would disregard (or rather find loopholes for) these rules, and use google docs (I think an “explore” section or something? I haven’t used google docs in years) to watch, prepare yourselves, Good Luck Charlie (as well as other Disney Channel shows and random Harry Potter behind the scenes videos). Literally any chance I could get, I would use my family’s ten year old mac and find my crusty headphones and hide away in my rooms so I could be such a rule breaker and watch Good Luck Charlie. And of course, the super blurry and grainy, filmed from another screen type of videos. I would pause the video every minute or so to make sure I didn’t hear any approaching footsteps, and if I did, I would quickly switch to a different google docs tab and show them how I was “working on writing stories”. As time went on, I would sneak onto pinterest so I could see screenshots of Tumblr posts because in my little middle school mind, anyone who posted funny things on Tumblr was a celebrity who deserved my utmost respect. If you posted on Tumblr in 2017 or earlier, just know that little me was your biggest fan. But before that, I was just a girl who secretly watched grainy videos of Good Luck Charlie while I played with my squishy cake toy and thought I was the biggest rule breaker in the world.

Favorite shows from your childhood?
Ohhhh anon you have asked maybe my favorite question ever! Alright, here's a list:
Hey Arnold. This show will always be top of the list. It's *STILL* my favorite. I fucking love this show, and I'm *still* proud of us for getting TJM. Go us!
As Told By Ginger. Underrated show for upper elementary/middle and even beginning high school. Definitely 80% of the reason why I gave good advice as a tween/teen. Parts of it are painfully cringey, but so was I back then lol.
Lizzie McGuire. I was primarily a Disney Channel kid, and I was *obsessed* with Hilary Duff as a singer and an actress. That show had some damn good messages, was funny as hell, and the fashions were iconic. Yes, Lizzie made me want a hair crimper, and no, I never got one.
Kim Possible. Kim was everything I dreamed I would be in high school. I wasn't, but it was a nice childhood aspiration lol. Also just a damn good show. I still sing music from it over two decades later, because the naked mole rap and say the word are FIRE songs, and I won't hear anything to the contrary.
Zaboomafoo. Yes, I was also a PBS kid lol welcome to being homeschooled in a fundie christian family - if it's not educational in some way or on Disney Channel, it's probably banned. Zaboomafoo is the reason everyone thought I was a gifted kid at five years old. I wasn't gifted, spoiler alert. I was a massive fucking nerd with ADHD who absorbed information related to her hyperfixations like a sponge. Information I didn't care about? Might as well nail jello to the wall.
One Saturday Morning, aka Doug, Recess, House of Mouse, etc. Weekend classics.
Saturday morning part 2: obscure boogaloo. Cake TV, Horseland, Winx, Bratz, The Slumber Party Girls/4KidzTV, etc. I would alternate between these and OSM, but Bratz was a special treat because it was banned at my house, so I only got to watch it at my best friend's house.
Noddy Shop. Also on PBS, basically Toy Story but better.
Chalkzone. I was an artsy kid, chalkzone was basically my ultimate dream.
Rocket Power. Had a special place in my heart because I loved it, my dad loved it, and my mom hated it. But dad said I could watch it, so mom couldn't tell me no. Dad was often on my side when it came to my hyper-sheltering, and was the reason my childhood wasn't even more sheltered/restricted/oppressed than it already was. Rocket Power also had a girl who was a total tomboy, and I LOVED Reggie. Yes I was a baby gay, we don't need to call me out lmao.
I could honestly go on. I honestly watched a lot of TV as a kid, because with a five year gap between my sibling and I (and them being the last person on earth I wanted to do anything with), I spent most of my time either watching TV, reading, or playing some kind of imaginative game with my barbies/polly pockets or just a stick I found in the yard lol.
