Urgent news, many lgbtqi residents of kakuma refugee camp are now homeless. Here is a statement from my friend Peter:
As an LGBTQIA+🏳️‍🌈, I bear witness to the horrifying police brutality that unfolded before my very eyes, along with my fellow LGBTQIA+ advocates, freedom fighters, and refugees in Kakuma refugee camp. It was a day we had come together to celebrate our pride, a moment of unity and empowerment during Pride Month. However, what transpired shattered our sense of safety and belonging. In the midst of our joyful pride party, the police forcefully invaded our presence, displaying an alarming disregard for our rights and humanity. Our small tent house, adorned with rainbow flags symbolizing our pride and resilience, was ruthlessly torn down. We, the members of the LGBTQIA+ community, were subjected to brutal beatings by those who are entrusted with the duty to protect us, but who instead exhibited violent, homophobic, and transphobic tendencies. This appalling act served as a stark reminder that within Kakuma refugee camp and Kenya at large, there is no place for us. Even the officials who should be safeguarding our rights have become perpetrators of violence and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ family. We pose no threat, for we bear no weapons and have not inflicted harm upon anyone. Yet, we are continually targeted by the refugee community, subjected to brutality, torture, persecution, discrimination, and social stigma solely due to our sexual orientation and gender identity. The conditions we endure in the camp are unbearable, pushing us to exist in a state of constant fear, insecurity, and suffering. We are forced to live in a primitive and inhospitable environment, stripped of our dignity and denied basic human rights. This relentless adversity places an immense burden on the LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees in Kakuma refugee camp, compromising our very survival. Therefore, I implore all those who champion human rights and stand against injustice to join forces and provide us with international support. We call upon activists, organizations dedicated to protecting LGBTQIA+ rights and lives, and the global community at large to unite as one, advocating for our freedom from the confines of Kakuma refugee camp. It is evident that this camp will never be a safe haven for us.We desperately need your unwavering support and solidarity. Ignoring our plight is not an option; it is through your intervention and collective efforts that we can secure our liberation. Together, let us work towards a world where every LGBTQIA+ individual can thrive, free from persecution and discrimination. Our lives and well-being depend on it..wish we find your support and solidarity on the less fortunate, thanks
(he sent this to me over whatsapp, you can also find it on his tumblr, @peterkats )
Please share this, spread international outrage, and get them help
The owner of the compound sold it, and many are now homeless. The nearest refugee camps are in Somalia, Zambia, Sudan and South Africa, which are miles away, they have no food or water, and many are sick or injured.
If you can, send aid through World Remit or Send Wave, to the phone number +254712692466, belonging to Abdul Luyombya, a friend of Peter's.

Don’t Listen
Pairing: Pedro Pascal X Fem! Bisexual Reader
Summary: you receive hate from Pedro's fans because they think you're lying about your sexuality.
Word Count: 0.9k
Content Warning: bullying, online harassment.
Note: I know it’s not pride month yet but IM PROUD TO BE APART OF THE COMMUNITY EVERY MONTH. Love you all so much 🏳️‍🌈. In Australia we recently just celebrated Mardi Gras - it inspired me to write something as a bisexual woman.
Tumblr media
Pedro loved this time of the year, he supported the lgbtqi+ community loud and proud, using his platform, he became a public voice for people in the community to support them. You had reposted Pedro’s own tweet and made your own, being apart of the community as a bisexual woman, you wanted you extend your support and acknowledge the struggles the community has faced and face to this day, while admiring how far things had come in the past few decades.
Pedro’s ‘fans’ decided this was outrageous and they simply couldn’t accept it, Twitter users in general were blasting you, because you posted the pride flag and the bisexual flag, owning the hurdles and self doubt you’d felt with over the years coming to terms with your sexuality. Your brain kept repeating the words you read.
“Bisexual? She’s definitely cheated on pedro.” No. I would never.
“It’s any wonder she could attract one gender let alone two.” Everyone is beautiful.
“Fakeclaiming being apart of the lgbtqi community isn’t cute girl. Check yourself!!!!” I would never lie about something so important.
“Fucking dirty slut. Leave pedro and save yourself the embarrassment.” Why are do people say such horrible things.
“How can pedro be with someone like this?” He loves me, right?
Pedro hadn’t been oblivious to the fact that you’d received hate comments over the years as a result of being his girlfriend, it was expected, and usually you handled things great. Communicated with Pedro and your skin grew thicker over time, their comments about you held no weight, your kindness became power for you, disgregarding them like water off a ducks back.
This however, triggered you immensely and sent your mind spiraling, your brain searching for the memories that had traumatised you as a teenager growing up in a strict and homophobic household. It was the one and only thing you truly struggled with in your life, and thought you overcame.
Pedro has never seen a moment where you doubted yourself or a decision you seemed confident making. He had never been in the position where he has seen you so broken down as you are now;
Pacing the lounge room, tears streaming down your cheeks, red and swollen under eyes, and body trembling, the culprit of your broken demeanour coming from your phone, your eyes encaptured in a trance, unable to stop reading.
Pedro rushed forward and pulled you into his body, your arms in an awkward position press against your chests folded inward. You leaned your head on his shoulder, the softness of his sweater inviting you into him, adding to the comfort he provided. His hand caressed the back of your head, stroking your hair, his fingertips lingering on your scalp causing a ticklish tingle that send a shiver down your neck.
“Shhh, I’ve got you.” His hushed voice whispering in your ear made you weak, your heart soaring and overflowing with love as he swaddles you in his arms, protecting you.
“Look at me baby.” You comply, your lip is in a small pout as it wobbles, your eyes shining with a gloss that made your eye colour more enticing as they’re full of emotion, a redness covered your cheeks and top of your nose that begged to be kissed to relieve their anguish.
“No one knows your struggle. You are an incredible, brave and intelligent woman and I am so proud to call you my girlfriend.” Tears fall from your lash line and tickle your red cheeks momentarily before Pedro wipes the tear away with his thumb.
“Repeat it with me baby.” The sincerity in his voice has your chest constricting.
“I am incredible.” His brown eyes watch you as you repeat him.
“I am brave.” Your lips mimic the words and he cracks a small smile.
“I am intelligent.” Your lip stops wobbling through the last affirmation, your eyes drying, tear stains on your cheeks crusting.
“You deserve me, I deserve you.” Your voice repeats his words solidly, believing his reassurance.
“Take some breaths with me now baby okay? Just follow my lead.” Pedro inhales deeply, you inhale, your lungs expanding and holding the air for a few seconds before releasing the exhaling with him. Repeating the process, your mind becomes clear with clarity, the overwhelming anxiety dissipating as your usual levelness settles in your brain like a freshly dried blanket providing some comfort.
You open your eyes to Pedro staring down at you, observing you. His eyebrows are raised upward baring concern, lines in his forehead creasing at the action. “Thank you for bringing me back.” Your whisper barely reached his ears, your fingers tickling his face as you traced shapes along his patchy beard. “I’m always going to be here baby. You handled it incredibly, I’m so proud of you.” He leans his head down to press a gentle kiss to your forehead that lingers for a few seconds before parting. Brown eyes scanning your face, admiring the beauty of you, even after you had a breakdown. Pedro took you all, the good the bad, the fucking terrible. He would do it everyday if he had to. You were his girl, he would move mountains for you.
“I’m so lucky to have you. I love you Pedrito.” His nose comes down to nuzzle your own, foreheads pressed together lovingly in an effort of Pedro creating a safe space for you. “I love you baby, happy pride month.”

Over the last few years, we have had the immeasurable pleasure of watching our Harry become one of the world’s biggest artists, win awards, and tour the world; all while spreading love everywhere he goes. He has invited us into his house, and let us make it a home, and 169 shows of Love On Tour later, we have come to the end of a truly iconic era.
The legacy of Love On Tour will be a lasting one and it takes a truly special person to create an environment where people are able to connect not just across oceans, but across sexualities and genders, faiths, and values. In a sea of pride flags, and nightly speeches where Harry empowered us to be whoever we want to be, the very biggest thing we’d like to be is exactly what he’s always been to us: kind.
While Harry may be taking some much deserved time to rest and recuperate, we would like to continue spreading love and treating people with kindness. It is for this reason we have chosen to celebrate the end of Love On Tour with a fundraiser.
The charity we have chosen is one that is close to our hearts and resonates deeply with us. It is one that we believe aligns with Harry’s constant and unwavering message of love and kindness, no matter what.
GiveOut is a charity that has been working with over 37 LGBTQI organisations across the world to eliminate discriminatory laws, and create safe places for LGBTQI people to exist. Their grant funding is provided in locations where key resources are needed, where important rights for the LGBTQI community are lacking, and where support and change is needed. GiveOut values everything we believe the world needs more of: solidarity, equity, ambition, stewardship and respect.
Every single issue that is being fought for requires funds to fuel it, to draw attention to the campaigns and truly make a difference. Thats why we have chosen to keep spreading love, and ask that you help us celebrate the end of Love On Tour by helping fight not just for equality, but a world where love can truly win.
Harry tells us to be lovers, to choose love and give love. To love everyone, always. Choosing love means choosing it for everyone. GiveOut are dedicating their time to making sure that can happen, so that everyone can love equally, honestly, openly and safely. Please consider donating to help them in their initiative. Thank You!

I didn't know how to loose u, because I never wanted to. U made the decision that I'm not among those u consider human. And that's how I kinda learned to feel that it hurts. I tried my best to express myself and identity to u, I guess I was a fool not to notice that u didn't care. But I hope someday u figure out that what u wished I didn't deserve it. And I should let u know that I can't afford to loose my orientation based on what u make as judgements upon me. The only thing I did was CHOOSING TO BE MYSELF; not even this harsh bedding have the nerve to change who I am. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 A POEM FROM "INSIDE_OUT."

In the Philippines, the idea of “home” is restricted by tradition and religion. Marriage, children, blood relations and gender all play a part in what is normally considered a family here. Within this social landscape, queer people are often rejected and cast out of the home.
Enter Manila’s Golden Gays: a community of "older LGBTQI+ Filipinos who have lived together for decades under one roof, caring for each other as they age, and staging shows and pageants to make ends meet".
These Lolas ('grandmothers' in Tagalog, as they are affectionately called), despite and because of their struggles, are queer icons who continue to redefine and expand the concept of “home” here in my motherland. And so, since it’s Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈, I wanted to introduce them to this corner of the internet.
Over a series of posts, I’m gonna share photographs and article excerpts of them taken and written by my favorite Filipino photojournalist, Hannah Reyes Morales, for the New York Times earlier this year. Hannah chronicled their lives in the context of the pandemic, during which the elder population was one of the most vulnerable and economically afflicted.
Perhaps what I love best in these photographs, and why I'm sharing them to you, is that they don't seem to be taken thru the lens of “pity”. Hannah was able to lift the Golden Gays up by capturing the shared love, hardships, and joy that made them a family. In these pictures, their pride and beauty shine.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
June 2011.
Casey had been at NYU for a year now. She loved dorm life and had made good friends. This was her first major exposure to the lgbtqi+ community. She knew people who identified as such existed, she knew that those who identified suffered both systemic and non systemic abuse. To see the extent was an eye opener and not long before pride month she saw first hand some of the non systemic abuse. Her and a few friends were out for lunch, enjoying a gorgeous day in New York when her companions, who were only holding hands, were verbally abused and threatened. This experience was an eye opener for Casey and right then and there she decided she needed to be the change she wanted to see. A few weeks later there was pride and there was a March. It felt empowering attending, being with people who were open about who they were and who they loved and the fight that everyone had in them. Casey had only just decided that she was going to pursue medicine but she wanted to be the doctor that anyone who identified as lgbtqi would feel comfortable seeing.
June 2015.
It was the pride between undergrad and medical school and around campus there was an air of excitement. There had been a long time push for marriage equality and even though it was allowed in 36 states, all eyes were on SCOTUS to recognize it across all states. June 26th was a massive celebration but they knew there was a lot of work to do. She knew of the systemic abuse that still occurred and she was entering a health system that showed not the best outcomes for those who were lgbtqi+.
June 2019.
Casey was now a resident. She still considered herself an ally but work was busy, now that she was a junior fellow on the world famous Diagnostic team. She still attended events and she went with Jackie for most of them. Jackie had to hide it for most of her life, due to her parents and when she was away from home was still guarded about her sexuality due to her upbringing. Children were not on Casey’s radar yet, if ever but hearing Jackie’s experience made her determined to be the parent who would be understanding of her own child’s sexual orientation.
June 2022.
Casey was now an Attending and after the news broke that Roe was going to be repealed she was awed by Caroline’s proactivity. Casey knew that if women’s rights in health care were attacked, those who identified as lgbtqi were definitely going to be in the firing line. Caroline instigated a whole suite of measures and education aimed at the public and physicians so we knew where we stood legally, putting out education programs at community clinics in schools around women’s and sexual health and consent. Edenbrook fast became seen as an ally and Casey could not be any more proud of the organization she was working for.
June 2026.
There was more change at Edenbrook again but again there was much excitement. Caroline had not long announced her retirement from being the CEO of Edenbrook Hospital and her parting gift was a Medical centre that despite being apart of the hospital was going to be set in one of the more diverse areas of Boston both socially and economically and the primary focus was women’s health and the lgbtqi+ community. Casey was excited and hoped that at a local level in time there would be better health outcomes.
June 2034
Pride had become a family affair for the Ramsey’s. There was always plenty happening at the hospital but they always made an effort to go to a parade together. Hudson was nearly 9 and Alexis 5. Even though they were young both Ethan and Casey agreed it was good to educate them in an age appropriate way that the love that those who identified are people too, who love and are a part of society. This pride was bittersweet. Hudson enjoyed it but he was starting to not like being seen with his parents. Ethan and Casey did not want Hudson attending by himself just yet but they did not want one child missing out either. Ethan and Casey made the decision to continue coming to pride but leave the kids with family.
June 2047
Pride was special in more ways than one this year. It was first Pride for Alexis after coming out as bi-sexual and the first pride where Casey and Ethan were a parent to someone in that community. They were very proud of Alexis regardless, graduating top of her class and heading to UPenn but they were relieved when Alexis came out. She was less stressed and seemed to be really happy that she was a true version of herself.
June 2048
This was Alexis’s first pride out of home. She was loving college and had joined the lgbtqi club on campus. It was here that she was introduced to Polyamory and she enjoyed the freedom it allowed to explore her sexuality. Ethan and Casey were still very proud of her. Ethan and Casey were still very active at work and they had been noticing, at the local level any way even more and more better outcomes for those who identified as lgbtqi and both were really happy about that.

Hellooo (stop it you'll make me blush)
What do you think says the most about a person?:
Body language! The way they walk the way they sit etc. But also how they answer the question: if you were a building, where would you be, what would you be and why? I got asked that on a date once and it's now one of my favourites to ask.
Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?:
I love both but I'd say I'm more of a cat person for sure.
Are you a member of the LGBTQI+?:
I recently sent this to my friend:
Tumblr media
I become more queer with every passing year (but also yes I'm bisexual/gender fluid/idk I've never been a labels fan)
Describe your aesthetic (but use photos): ahh this is a hard one but here are some pictures from my pinterest that I vibe with right to my core:

Best compliment you've ever received (but give yourself a compliment): I'm pretty level headed! Also I've been told I have really smooth skin a lot over the last year, which is such a weird compliment, but ngl I'm digging it.
Do you have any nicknames: I got this one before too! I get a lot of nicknames but the most common two are Shou and Russ.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
On the last day of May, President Joe Biden issued a proclamation Wednesday from the White House declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month. It comes amid a wave of conservative attacks on the LGBTQ+ community.
“During Pride Month, we honor a movement that has grown stronger, more vibrant, and more inclusive with every passing year,” the proclamation read. “Pride is a celebration of generations of LGBTQI+ people who have fought bravely to live openly and authentically. And it is a reminder that we still have generational work to do to ensure that everyone enjoys the full promise of equity, dignity, protection, and freedom.”
Biden referenced the laws Republican-led legislatures have introduced in states nationwide, calling it an “inflection point.”
“In 2023 alone, State and local legislatures have already introduced over 600 hateful laws targeting the LGBTQI+ community. Books about LGBTQI+ people are being banned from libraries. Transgender youth in over a dozen States have had their medically necessary health care banned. Homophobic and transphobic vitriol spewed online has spilled over into real life, as armed hate groups intimidate people at Pride marches and drag performances and threaten doctors’ offices and children’s hospitals that offer care to the LGBTQI+ community.”
