I feel bad saying this, but sometimes I really miss when the fandom was smaller and I knew no one. I know without all the bullshit I wouldn't know the people I currently do and that's somewhat terrifying but at the same time I'm so fucking tired of feeling like a complete nothing yet like some people put me on this pedestal and some even resenting me for it.

What was Bi-Han's first thought when looking at Shang Tsung for the first time

(am I doing this right I'm still slightly drunk)

no no this is good.

He thought he was hot would be like his beloved arch enemy, and they'd spend all their lives fighting and flirting with each other in an intricate game of cat and mouse. No, but fr, Bi-Han lowkey has the most respect for Shang Tsung out of everyone else. Shang Tsung is his beloved enemy no joke.

After every fight, Bi-Han tells off his adversary and/or disparages them in some way. Even Johnny Cage, who for all his goofyness and bravado, actually did manage to get the upper hand and lay him out.

So when he gets to the Ying Fortress right off the bat, he says, "Finally, we face a worthy foe. Victory will bring us glory."

First up is Nitara, to whom he says, "I heard tales of battles against your kind. I had thought them tall ones." and it's not the words so much as the look he gives her that conveys what he really thinks of the Vaeternians/Nitara herself. They were probably overhyped. At the end of the fight, he just says, "You will end this day hungry." Not too bad, honestly. Just a dismissal with no insult attached. That's about the best anyone can hope for from him lmao.

Then, he almost pays Ermac a compliment by saying Liu Kang had warned them about Ermac and "I had hoped for the chance to battle your dark magic." Of course, he beats Ermac and then says, "You are not so fearsome." Again, not so bad as an insult. Another overhyped enemy, but it's whatever.

When he faces off against Quan Chi, he starts the fight by saying, "Were you told also to expect defeat?" Keeping his expectations low. And he was right because he wins and says, "Your failure was inevitable."

Then he gets to Shang Tsung, who, much like Dr. Strange, has come to bargain. And Bi-Han wants all the smoke (no pun intended), so he's like, "Unless it's your surrender, I am not interested." (Translation: square up.)

And when he inevitably wins again, he says:

And that's not really an insult. It's similar to Ermac, as it shows he at least had slightly higher expectations for him than the rest. Maybe also because Shang Tsung beat Kuai Liang right before this. Now, earlier with Ermac, his expectations were already established before their fight, so he follows it up with a dismissal that basically amounts to "bitch you thought." Because before almost every fight, Bi-Han places his bets, and he always bets on himself.

This isn't to say he thought Shang Tsung could actually beat him. But just to say that he usually already dismisses his opponents before fighting them (few exceptions) and then follows that up with a proclamation that he was right, cause his ops ain't shit. And while this implies Shang Tsung also didn't measure up to his expectations, at least he's not saying that directly to his face before the fight even begins. At least there's no insult added to injury at the end of the fight.

That's respect he isn't shown to give anyone else. In fact, he's usually as disrespectful as he can get away with to everyone, including Liu Kang himself. And Shang Tsung calling Bi-Han "Grandmaster" when literally no one else except Bi-Han himself uses the title in the whole storymode??? Yeah yeah he's a snake, a liar, and a manipulator, but if he's pretending, at least he's putting in an effort no one else does. Like, it's understandable that Kuai and Tomas don't use it because of their close familial bond, but you're going to tell me they didn't call their father Grandmaster? At least when they're in front of non-family as a sign of respect for his authority? The whole time in front of Shang Tsung and the others, it's "brother" and "Bi-Han." Put some respek on his title! And when they're in private, they can't stfu about their dead father either, which could further drive home the point that they don't respect Bi-Han's position.

But anyway, getting back on topic…the way Bi-Han goes in for the kill instead of capturing Shang Tsung like Liu Kang wanted? Bi-Han already feels like the Lin Kuei are being held back by Liu Kang. He's stifling them. Bi-Han himself is in unwanted servitude to Liu Kang. Shang Tsung would have been another captive for Liu Kang to lord over, and so Bi-Han was freeing him from that fate. You know his overdramatic ass would think this and try to pull a stunt like that.

When he said "Finally we face a worthy foe." Turns out he meant Shang Tsung exclusively. No one else lived up to his expectations even marginally. He showed no one else the small measure of respect Shang Tsung had garnered from him, and this was even before Shang buttered him up by playing the "Grandmaster" card.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about Idk, I haven't been as active in fandom stuff recently cause I just kinda vibe in my own little corner, but I feel like people make Chris into a boring hardass, and he's not actually that much of a hardass? re7 and 8 are weird, and he's literally got a brain injury in 6, but in every other thing, Chris is v compassionate and caring. I kinda like a goofier Chris, give him a lil bit of dad energy. I think Chris should get to make a 'hi hungry I'm dad' joke. 9. worst part of canon ACAB <3 I love raccoon city era stuff cause I think it's really interesting, but boy howdy unfortunate these folks are cops! Also just there's a tendency in wider fandom to glorify cops and the military I find kinda uncomfortable, and i know it's a part of canon, but like. hnnn. And it feels kinda cheap to have him be the one to bring Chris back when like. If this was supposed to be a return of everyone, where's Claire? Where's Jill? You're telling me that Chris goes missing for 6 months and they're not doing anything about it?? I know there's stuff in the manga that expands on why Piers's important to Chris, but it wasn't really discussed much in game, and I shouldn't have to go read an obscure manga to get an emotional payoff for a mainline game. Honestly it might be canon at this point because I haven't watched since early season 4 but I've never really liked the trope where Chat Noir and Marinette have video game/movie night. the screentime of yuki is all i wished for throughout this show and she actually got some, i'm so happy for her. same for elly.

i was really surprised she wasn't eliminated but like i'm so happy that she didn't cuz she is very talented.

I don't have much to say abt the other members. I admit that this song was overhyped and it was really the popularity votes that made this team win. tbh this song was very forgettable... still happy that they did win tho cuz most of my top 7 are on here.

i love that nana stuck with this song cuz she fits in pretty well. i was really sad that yeonhee keeps getting stuck with rap verses when her strength is vocals... bora suits this song really well but i will say the vocals of other members stood out to me more for this song like jihan's.

i loved this song a lottt. puzzlin is addictive but also pleasant sounding. it sucks that the pleasant sounding songs actually do a lot worse than songs with empty choruses and just loudness. i wish this song won lowkey... jiwon proved that she can be a great center once again!

eliminations:

ok so like basically all of the foreign members (like not originally active as kpop idols) got eliminated and all of cherry bullet and almost all of weeekly except jihan.

i'm so surprised that all the cherry bullet members got eliminated... i think that people saw cherry bullet's upperhand at the beginning and then started voting for rocket punch and forgot abt cherry bullet. it was heartbreaking to see both members just say "please don't forget about us" during their speeches...

all the weeekly members got eliminated and altho it was sad, it was kinda expected. i think zoa and jihan had the highest chance and jihan was the only one that didn't get eliminated.

i think the benefit helped elly stay in the finals which is great, but i'm a bit surprised that fye didn't go to the next round. i do suspect that after the name of the group was released, her fans were prob like nah, not worth it...

if i forgot to cover some member that got eliminated, they just didn't stand out to me from the start so...

my opinion about the EL7Z +UP thing

ok whoever came up with this kinda needs to get fired. like ik it was supposed to be voted by the people or like the suggestions were from the people but i swear anyone in the right mind wouldn't have named it that. i just don't like numbers and symbols being in group names like Kep1er, IZ*ONE, ZB1, etc. i love the people in the group, just not a fan of their name... i'm sure people will get used to it just like they did with IZ*ONE but they just could've named them a lot better...

Honestly the more of bp I watch the less I like Gyuvin and Sung Hanbin. anon was me, reading your response was lowkey like therapy and I really appreciated it. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been gaslighted by other phandom members or seen phandom members bully each other just because they’re in deep and think it’s their duty to ??? idk?? keep EVERYONE obsessed and essentially worshipping dnp for putting out mediocre or bare-minimum content. I don’t hate dnp, I just feel like I moved on and like you said, it’s probably a sign of something beyond “jealousy” or pettiness when ex-phandom members are all coming forward saying the same things. The fandom environment itself was extremely unhealthy and I’m sick of people saying “it’s chill now! There’s like no one here.” Because... it’s still not. It’s not chill, it’s just the same recycled gifs in queues, “I miss __” posts and the overhyping of tweets or an appearance of Freja. (Don’t even get me started on people treating the baby like a micro-celebrity. So incredibly uncomfortable). The fact that I still feel like I have to apologize for not enjoying dnp enough is incredibly frustrating. I’m definitely not jealous, I’m not even sure what we’re all supposed to be jealous of. “If you don’t like it, move on” can’t even apply to me because I have moved on but I have a lot of lingering discomfort from my time trying to get out.

yeah, it really is kinda weird that once you step away from phandom you can get a real perspective of it all and go: wow, that was weird. phan accounts (on both tumblr and twitter) that were treated like celebs themselves was just... straight up strange like wtf was that all about lmao. also i legit saw a fancam edit of freja and i just completely shut down. i had to step away from the internet for a whole ass hour because oh my god??

the unsettling part of phandom is that in their eyes, dan and phil truly cannot do no wrong. they claim that they call them out when they do something bad but oh my god is that a lie. you cannot ever be hypocritical of dan and phil whether you're an active member of the community or an ex-phannie. if you're a phan blog then you're seen as 'just bored and trying to start drama' and if you're a ex-phannie then you're just 'jealous and bitter'. even now after i've been away from the phandom for what... almost a year (i left in july 2020 and kinda never really fully came back i guess) and i'm still looking over my shoulder type thing because i still get anons crying about MY opinion in my inbox. like: sure you can enjoy whatever content you want, that's absolutely fine! (look at me i'm a marvel blog lmfao at least im self aware lol) but like... some phannies need to just realise that not everyone is going to love them and love dan and phil the way they do. i felt sometimes they misinterpreted that close creator/viewer relationship they had with us and they run WAY too far with it. which is maybe why dnp are looking for a rebrand (and failing so hideously) this obviously doesn't apply to all their fans, the phannie mutuals i've kept in touch with are very near and dear to my heart and i think without them i probably would have gone insane lol (yall know who you are <3)

but like... yeah in all honesty back in like. 2017 or 2018 when phan blogs i was following would quit the phandom and say the EXACT same things as i am now, i'd be like :( oh no!! why would they say that!! but clearly there's a pattern here, and it just shows, if more than one person is pointing out the flaws in a phandom or a community on a certain platform (whether here or twitter) it just proves that it's not someone just being bitter, it's that there probably is a problem in your fandom and they chose to ignore it.

favorite episode: I'm going for fluff here and I'm sorry, but Husbands Of River Song. It's sweet and hammy and lovely, and probably the best example of Moffat trying to make up for previous mistakes.

saddest death: Missy! She wanted to stand with the Doctor and she's surrounded by flowers like when she was first introduced and gaaah.

favorite season: Tie between Seven's season with Ace, season 4 before Journey's End cocked it up, season 10 with Twissy heading for a tragedy, or season 12 when that tragedy has consequences.

least favorite season: Season two of NuWho. It's when I started, but god they're annoying now.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: Jack Harkness. Admittedly because John Barrowman keeps on sexually harassing his castmembers. I feel bad for it! Cos Jack *is* important, but when I think about the good in Revolution Of The Daleks, it's completely Yaz's side of the conversation that I remember.

see, mc was in A Mood for a while. where they were really bored and uninspired and as much as zen tried to help out, nothing was really working 

but then they came across this old anime that used to be one of their favorites

“zen, i need to borrow the laptop…I also need you to come with me. and with some snacks” 

“can i ask..why?” he said, but followed them to the couch anyways

“it’s time for some Self Care, hyun.” and he laughed in response, but followed 

mc promptly put on some shojo anime called Lovely Complex :’))))

they were cuddling him the whole time so he kind of had no choice but to watch

he found himself laughing along with mc halfway through the first episode

by the end of the second one, he asked “babe..how many episodes are there?” 

“24…why?” “…we can get through this whole thing today”

and so they did. mc has to tell him that there’s more in the manga cause he was sad it ended

he liked it, he thought it was funny but also really cute. and mc was glad that he did! they watch it whenever one of them is in a slump now

ok but his favorite part is the basketball game and he was so mad when risa was asleep dgjbad

unironically uses some lines from it just to make mc either laugh or blush

mc watched all of the show he wanted them to watch, so it was in return for that

they decided to make him watch OHSHC, one of their favorites

he was…kind of confused during the first episode 

“so they…they run a ‘host club’ to just…play around?” 

frankly scared of the twins cause they kind of remind him of the chois 

“mc, is that jumin in an anime?” - referring to kyoya 

mc was laughing the entire time, especially when he asked if he was like Honey

they did, however, finish the whole series in a day

but he ended up liking it a lot! he thought it was adorable!

still confused as to what was a host club at the end of the anime, but he still loves it

his favorite episode was the beach episode 

mc had to tell him about the manga cause there’s more 

and he was like “oh, here’s more content!” “yeah, it’s too bad there’s only one season in the anime…”

“wait whY DOES IT ONLY HAVE ONE SEASON?!”

and recently, they’ve been pretty obsessed with haikyuu!! - they needed to get to the s3

so...It Began

if she was completely honest, she didn’t really like it at first

there was so much,,Yelling. and they were really overhyping volleyball, weren’t they?

oh well, she was going to watch at least one season with mc

however, started liking it at the aoba josai practice match 

and really liked it when they got to the practice match with nekoma 

she ended up catching up to mc at the end of the day

the next day, they watched season 3 for the first time together

hooked it up to the tv and had a whole cheering session during the whole season

the amount of screaming they did when tsukki did The Thing was Insane  

singing the theme songs at the most random times happen all the time

she ends up having a blast 

her favorite characters are either daichi or saeko, though she has a soft spot for yamaguchi

jumin

mc had been trying to get him to watch soul eater for a while now

just to see what his opinion would be. they thought it would be fun~

finally got the chance to sit him down and play it, so they did!

poor jumin was so confused at first....and didn’t really like it either

“why is that boy turning into a weapon, mc? those two girls turned into guns??” “what’s with all the boobs?”

but he did watch the whole thing

found it..interesting. not one of his favorites, but he’d watch it again

really liked the part with Soul and Maka and the little devil thing (god its been a long time spare me)

also the part with tsubaki and her brother

thinks its cute how excited mc gets when they get to certain parts

death the kid lowkey reminds him of his high school phase and he’s embarrassed to admit that to mc

it also takes them a while to finish, since he’s so busy

at first, mc thinks he just really doesn’t like it and tries to avoid it

but he does want to finish it! he doesn’t like seeing things halfway through

is really glad when they do finish it. he thinks it was a nice ending to the anime (but then he found the manga...)

mc was determined to make saeyoung watch fullmetal

he just didn’t want to because there were so many parts to it and he didn’t know where to start

so they started from the beginning. the first series

and he was so confused at first!

not cause of the alchemy thing but because of where this was going to go plot wise

but then he was sucked into it

really likes edward because part of him relates

says he’s edward and alphonse is saeran

was surprised when it started getting..really deep

and at this point, begged mc to show him all the other parts

so it was a whole binge watch session. they didn’t leave the house unless absolutely necessary

loved it even more when they found the outtakes and brings them up at the most random times

mc and 707, casually eating cereal: “let’s look at the door.” | every time saeyoung has to stop saeran from doing something: “i’m trying to save your life, asshole!” 

and his favorite(that saeran actually participates in) - him: “mc wanted me to tell you they’re making stew tonight!” saeran: “Fuck yeah!”

jihyun asked them to watch something heartwarming and cute

and the first thing that popped into their head was yuri!!! on ice

plus it was short, so it seemed like a good choice

he automatically thought the ice skating was astounding. like, victor’s first performance alone got him hooked

“wait, is he that character everyone thought i looked like at one point?” he asks 

but anyways, he really likes yuuri. but also likes guang hong 

the small gasp he made when Episode 7 Happened was the most amazing thing mc has ever heard

the ‘yuri on ice’ performance really is his favorite one. agape comes at a close second

actually clapped when The Rings came into play

“is that it? is there only 12 episodes?” he asks, mc nods sadly

“next level?? mc what is ‘next level’?” they don’t even know

“...if people think that I look like victor, should i cosplay him?” “jihyun-”

it was exactly what he needed though. something cute and heartwarming

he’s super excited for next season
