The Disability Library
I love books, I love literature, and I love this blog, but it's only been recently that I've really been given the option to explore disabled literature, and I hate that. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be able to read about characters like me, and now as an adult, all I want is to be able to read a book that takes us seriously.
And so, friends, Romans, countrymen, I present, a special disability and chronic illness booklist, compiled by myself and through the contributions of wonderful members from this site!
As always, if there are any at all that you want me to add, please just say. I'm always looking for more!
Edit 20/10/2023: You can now suggest books using the google form at the bottom!

el definitely gets jealous of jack walking in with another kid today before the game like he’ll go to get a hug from her after the game and she’s just like no bad daddy
she definitely does! when she sees the photo on lovie’s phone, she gets all pouty and goes “why i don’t walk with daddy?”
lovie wasn’t quite sure how to explain to her that it was a little kid from the ‘hockey in new jersey’ program, so she just gently told her, “daddy knew mommy needed you to walk in with her! or else mommy would be sad because she would be all alone!” — but el wasn’t having it, “mommy walk with aunt coley!” (jesper’s gf, nicole)
lovie thought that was the end of it. but after the game, she took el to go say goodbye to jack and luke before they left for the roadie, and when jack smiled and tried to take el from his wife so he could hug her goodbye, el turned into lovie with her arms crossed.
“no! bad daddy!” el huffs, making jack’s face fall, a small pout resting upon his lips.
“eleanor elizabeth hughes!” lovie pulls her daughter away from her chest, just enough to see her face; her voice stern yet soft.
“no, no, it’s fine, lovie.” Jack reassures her.
scooping his hands underneath el’s armpits, he takes his daughter from her mother, bringing her close to his chest, despite her squirming and whines.
“el,” he starts, a gentle tone to his deep voice. the nearly two-year-old settles, looking at her father, “i thought we’ve talked about this. daddy has to go and work, but i’ll be back in a week and i’ll be bringing you back a gift, remember?”
“oh, love.” lovie whispers, catching jack’s attention. his blue eyes flicker up to look at his wife, finding her shaking her head.
“what?” he asks, furrowing his brows.
“that’s not what she’s upset about.” she tells him, “she’s jealous because you walked in with another kid. she wants to do your entrance with you.”
“oh,” jack looks down at el in his arms, her angry face staring back at him, “i’m sorry, lovely. i didn’t get to choose who i walked in with today.”
when el doesn’t ease her glare, jack sighs, “how about this, next week, when daddy gets back, he’ll see if you can walk in with him. okay?”
the toddler’s biting stare drops, quickly replaced with a bright smile as she nods at her father, “okay.”
pressing a kiss to her cheek, jack smiles, whispering a short goodbye and reminding his daughter that he loves her before handing her off to her uncle.
as soon as el is safely in luke’s arms, jack is turning back to his wife, pulling her in by a grip on her hips. his hand coming to rest on her swollen stomach, his thumb rubbing softly against it.
“i love you,” he hums, leaning in to capture her lips in a sweet kiss, “text me when you and el get home, okay? i’m gonna miss my girls.”
as he finishes his sentence, jack feels a quick thump against his hand, a chuckle arising from his throat before he speaks again, “and my boy.”
“i will text you as soon as we get in the house.” lovie states, a smile playing upon her lips, “now, if you’ll excuse me, we have a moody girl who needs a nap.”
jack glances over to their daughter, who laughs as her uncle blows raspberries into her stomach, holding her out in front of his face, “she looks pretty happy to me.”
“i was talking about me.”

After reading the recent chapter of Him & I, the image of teen Nico and the others trying to adjust to life in NJ has me in a chokehold lol
May I request for any shenanigans our boys may have gotten into during their first few months in the states? 👀
Stop I love this request! Just a bunch of silly teen boys in a new country together haha
Thanks so much requesting! Let me know if you want some more funny moments between the guys
~~~~
“Nico, I love you man but when am I gonna get my own bed?”
Timo is sprawled out across the queen size bed, McDonald’s fries and a burger resting in his lap. It’s been his obsession food for the last month they’ve been in Jersey and Nico is patently waiting for the day it all makes him sick.
“I’m trying Timo,” he huffs, looking up from the hoard of emails he’s been sifting through. His first order of business when he got to Jersey was finding something in the area to invest in. That something was a beloved bar in the area that had been shut down a few years ago and now he’s trying to build it all back up. “A few more weeks and I’ll look for somewhere new, ok?”
The apartment is nice, not a penthouse but large and luxurious. Enough to keep them all comfortable until he can afford an equally nice place for everyone. Technically leased under Nico’s name, it’s his permanent home now. And the home of the friends he brought with him. Three bedrooms in all, but Jesper and Jonas brought their girls with them, and Nico felt it was best they got rooms for themselves. Leaving him and Timo to double-up unless someone wanted the couch.
“Not that I don’t like the bonding,” Timo laughs, shoveling fries into his mouth. “I just didn’t realize how much of a cuddler you are.”
“Shut up!” Nico grumbles, cheeks heating up. He’s not that much of a cuddler, it just happens. It doesn’t help that Timo is such a bed hog either. What else is he supposed to do when his friend is rolling onto his side of the bed?
Timo snickers, hitting play on the next episode of Friends. Nico goes back to work, approving orders and installs for the bar so that it’ll be ready to open by the end of the month. Eventually the loud, smacking footfall of Jonas float in and the elder Swiss boy’s head is poking into the master bedroom.
“What are you watching?” He ask innocently, and Timo pats the bed next to him. That’s all the invitation Jonas needs before he’s crashing into the mattress, settling against the headboard and stealing some chicken nuggets from Timo.
“Ladies at work tonight?” Timo asks him, and he nods. Nola and Nicole had both gotten work together at a fancy clothing store a few streets down. The pay isn’t great, but they’re able to save up and support themselves with Nico taking care of housing and food for everyone. And once the bar is up and running, him and the boys will have more work to do.
Jonas pulls out his phone, sending a text that’s barely buzzed in the group chat before Jesper is running into the room as well. He shoves Nico’s beanie down over his eyes, leaping onto the bed with the other boys.
Nico yanks the hat off, tossing it towards the closet and refocusing. He doesn’t even get five minutes of work done before Jesper is calling for him.
“What?”
“Come on boss,” he teases “working too hard. Join us in bed.”
Nico rolls his eyes, fighting back a smile. “You’re not my type.”
“Which one of us?”
“All of you.” Nico deadpans, looking up over his screen to find them all staring at him with puppy dog eyes.
“You love friends, come watch.” Jonas tells him. “I’ll let you sit next to Timo so you can snuggle?”
They all bust out laughing and it’s enough to get Nico to close his laptop. Rising from the desk, he pads over to the bed and knees his way up between Jonas and Timo.
He settles into the pillows, crossing his arms over his chest. Timo and Jonas are warm on either side of him, everyone’s biceps pressed tight against each other as they squish together.
Sometimes when Nico’s here, just him and his friends from home without thinking of everything he has to do, everything that comes with being the boss, he remembers his age. Still freshly 18 with too much money in his bank account and a responsibility to take care of the five other people he’s drug into this with him.
It makes him feel small. In a safe way though, because he’s got the people that believe in him and have his back. He’s got the Devs with him.
Maybe Jesper is right, maybe he is working too hard to make this work because he wakes up in the morning to a photo of him sleeping on Timo’s shoulder, a an arm and leg thrown over his best friends body.
Can you imagine if nepo baby reader and her friend did something like the simple life like what Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie did and she has to be away from Eddie but he is tuning in for every episode
eddie funded the production wdym??? he would single handedly fund the whole thing with the stipulation that he got to watch during filming. he'd be dying, cackling, so much film got scrapped bc he's wheezing in the background.
"i'm not doing this if he's going to be here! he's making me mess up!" nb huffs, looking at the producer.
eddie has to watch from a van from then on, listening to the sound and even then you can hear him cackle sometimes. he's pitching half the places too, place he knows she has no fucking clue about that makes him lose it.
why is this making me giggle?? secures their spot as reality tv icons.
The People That See You Part 1
This is one is very angsty to start with and I’ve broken up the first part into two. This came from the idea that Steve and Eddie’s friends aren’t as far removed as previously thought.  Or you can read it here on AO3
*
Eddie was cracking jokes with the rest of Corroded Coffin waiting for the rest of the adult Hellfire to show up. Or at least most of them.
Jeff and Gareth were making fun of Steve Harrington and Brian? Brian was shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
“Dude, “Jeff said. “What’s your problem?”
Brian shrugged. “I don’t think we should be making fun of someone now that we’re out of high school.”
Eddie rolled his eyes. “Come on, you have to admit how annoying he is?”
“You think I’m annoying?” Steve asked from the doorway.
Everyone whirled around to see him just standing there, stricken.
“What are you doing here?” Gareth asked with a sneer.
Steve cleared his throat and pinched his nose. “Dustin said he left his homework here and Claudia asked me to get it for him.”
“You on first name terms with all the moms, Harrington?” Jeff joked.
Steve blushed angrily. “Just let me get his stuff and I’ll get out of your way.” He spotted the bag behind Eddie and had to brush past him to get it.
As Steve turned around to leave, Eddie grabbed his shoulder. “Hey, I didn’t mean it like that.”
Steve wrenched his arm away. “I thought I could trust you. I thought you were one of the people I could count on.”
Jeff and Gareth laughed and Steve bolted.
“Steve!” Eddie cried following him out.
When Eddie followed him out, Gareth and Jeff looked at each other.
“What was that about?” Gareth asked, confused.
“It always sucks when you overhear your crush bad mouthing you behind your back,” Brian murmured.
Jeff frowned. “How the hell would you know that?”
Brian just looked him in the eye and said nothing.
Eddie came storming back in, pushing chairs out of his way and cursing up a storm. “God damn it!” he shouted as he sat down in a huff.
Jeff jerked his head at Brian. “Brian here seems to think that Stevie boy’s got a crush on you.”
Eddie blinked. He pointed at Jeff. “You shut up.” He pointed at Brian. “You’re coming with me. You two are going to stay here until we get back.”
He grabbed his jacket and pushed Brian in front of him. “Come on.”
Brian sighed but led the way to the van.
Eddie started the van and drove in silence for a few moments before he said, “Where would he go?” he asked mostly to himself.
“Skull rock,” Brian whispered.
“How the hell do you know that? Scratch that, how the hell would you know if Steve has a crush on me? You never see each other outside of him picking up the kids. So unless you two are hanging out together that I don’t know about...”
Brian closed his eyes and sighed. When he opened them again, he turned to Eddie. “If you tell anyone about this I swear to god I will raid your porn stash and sell the best ones to the swim team.”
Eddie scoffed. “Like you know where my porn stash is.”
“Underneath the second step to your trailer,” Brian deadpanned.
“Shit.”
Eddie tapped his fingers on the steering wheel as he thought hard about it. “Yeah. Fine. You win. Now spill.”
“I use to run with Harrington in middle school.”
Eddie looked over at him for a moment and then turned back to the road. “Like hell you did.”
Brian huffed out a bitter laugh. “No, I really did. The whole crowd, Tina, Nicole, Carol, Tommy, Steve and me. Ever wonder why it was odd that there were more girls than guys?”
Eddie cocked his head and shrugged. “So what happened?”
Brian just shrugged. “I got into D&D and base guitar and they were jocks. We just drifted apart naturally.”
Eddie bit his lip. “But if that was the case then Steve would have had to have a crush on me in middle school and there is no way that’s a thing.”
“They didn’t know,” Brian said softly.
“Then how did you know?” Eddie was getting more confused by the moment.
Brian sighed. “Because we bonded over liking guys.”
Eddie raised a eyebrow. “Seriously? I didn’t know you were gay, man.”
Brian shrugged. “It’s just more ammunition that I don’t care to give people.”
“I feel that,” Eddie agreed.
“Did Steve ever bully you?” Brian asked suddenly.
Eddie reared his head back. “No. I mean, not really.” He paused for a moment. “Not that I can think of. I mean it wasn’t until Steve had graduated that popular crowd had turned on us. They tended to leave us alone.”
Brian let that sink in.
Eddie looked over at him briefly, tilting his head. “Come on, man. You can’t seriously think that he left the Hellfire Club alone because he had a crush on me.”
“Yeah, yeah I can,” Brian said.
“You have to see how ridiculous that sounds,” he pleaded.
Brian just shook his head.
They drove in silence up Skull Rock and as they drew near, they could see Steve’s car and his silhouette on the horizon.
“How the hell did you know he’d be here?” Eddie asked, in awe.
“People think he come up here to woo his dates,” Brian explained. “But it’s only a secondhand affect of him taking them to the place he feels most at home.”
“Shit.” Eddie had a place like that. He would drive out the quarry and sit on top of his van until the ache in his chest subsided.
Eddie opened the door to the van, but Brian stopped him.
“Don’t break his heart, man,” Brian pleaded. “If you don’t feel the same, fine. But let him down gently. But that boy up there has the biggest heart in the world. And it is a fucking miracle that Tommy and Carol didn’t beat it out of him. Because if you make him cry again, I will beat your ass.”
“Again?” Eddie asked, frowning. “I’ve never seen him cry.”
“You have, you just don’t realize it,” Brian bit out and then copied Steve’s nose pinch and rub.
Eddie’s eyes went wide. “You mean to tell me that’s him crying?”
“Harrington men don’t cry.”
Eddie nodded. He got out of the van and closed the door.
“Just one more thing,” Brian said, leaning across the center console to to be heard. “Don’t let him know it was me, yeah?”
Eddie gave him a thumbs up and began the climb to Skull Rock.
The Summer I Remembered You (C.F) (Part 17)
Tumblr media
you broke me more than anyone else could, because you were my friend first.
A/N: Hey guys!<3 Hope you all are well and i’m sorry I haven’t been uploading as much. School has started.. Anyways please enjoy I don’t want to write bc I want this series to keep going on 😭
Synopsis: Teenagers doing a bunch of dumb things, and Conrad having horrible timing ;)
“You can’t wear that.”
I groan and throw the piece of clothing at Frankies head. “Then what am I supposed to wear? It’s not like i’m impressing anybody.”
“mhm, right.” Frankie starts to go through my clothing racks and then pulls out a baby blue crop top, “this, with white jean shorts.”
“Fine.”
There were a couple moments of silence before Frankie clears her throat, “So, you and Conrad did well today.”
“No thanks to your fake injury.”
She scoffs, “I was very much injured!”
“You told me weeks ago it was perfectly fine, your knee.” I motion to it and she covers her knee when she realizes it looks perfectly fine too. I tilt my head waiting for a response.
She huffs, “Okay, okay! Maybe I wanted you and Conrad to make up but Taylor had the same idea in mind with Jeremiah!”
“You two are a lot more alike then you dare to admit, you know” I don’t even have to look at her to know she’s fuming. Comparing her to Taylor Jewel is the worst thing you can do.
“Don’t even.”
I sit down at my desk and begin straightening my hair, while looking through the mirror to see Frankie laying on the bed. “Hey, you know Belly and Jeremiah hooked up?”
In a second she’s sitting up with her mouth hung open, “Like sex?”
“No!” I feel like throwing up through my eyes because that would just be weird. “It’s Jeremiah and Belly, they wouldn’t just have unhinged sex like that.”
“But you and Conrad can?”
“Fuck off!” I say through gritted teeth but she’s just laughing which only makes me laugh. “They hooked up a couple days ago. I just didn’t know Belly liked him like that.”
“Shouldn’t that be good? Conrad’s all yours now.”
I roll my eyes in response, “I’m over Conrad. I told him today it’s done.”
Now, she’s off the bed and sitting on the ground beside my chair, “How many times have I heard you say that?”
I pull my straightener out the wall and toss it in the corner, “I know, but i’m serious. Apparently Susannah begged him to ask me to the deb ball because I don’t have a date.”
“And did he ask you?”
“He claims he was going to.” I almost gag at my words because the whole interaction from earlier today still plays in my mind. “But that was after he told me to get over my petty feelings for him.”
“That dickhead. I shouldn’t have let him sub in.”
I shrug, finishing applying my last bit of blush. “I’m completely over him. So it doesn’t matter anymore.” I hear Frankie chuckle beneath her breath and I throw my blush on the table, turning to face her. “What is so funny? Why don’t you believe me?”
“Because it’s Conrad, yn. Your seriously telling me if Belly and Conrad hooked up right now you wouldn’t be pissed off?”
“No. I wouldn’t care.”
“mhm, let’s go.” Frankie pats me on the back before making her way to the door.
Nicole’s boat, was huge. That’s a fucking understatement.
We were meeting Belly and Taylor at the boat but we were the last ones there. “Damn.”
“That’s.. wow?” Frankie says through a laugh and I nudge her shoulder. Nicole yells at us to come on the boat so we make our way over, slowly.
Belly and Taylor were sitting by Dara and Gigi talking and I saw the vodka bottles and smirked. I shoved Nicole’s shoulder a little bit, “Brought the drinks, huh?”
“You know me well.” Nicole then directs her attention to Frankie, “You must be—”
“Frankie.” She cuts her off. There was a sharp tone in her voice which only meant one thing, she was being protective. That’s also something Frankie and Taylor both do.
“Ah, well nice to meet you.” She signals us to sit down and I make way my over to Belly and Taylor. Frankie sits next to me and eventually Nicole comes and joins us.
The bottles were being passed around and the only person who didn’t take anything was Belly, and I figured Cam must’ve been rubbing off on her. “So Belly, none for you?”
She snorts, “No way your promoting this, mom would kill you.” In turn, I knew she was right but Laurel wasn’t here? What’s the problem in a little fun?
“Yeah yeah whatever.” I ruffle her hair a little bit and she quickly smacks me away, “yn! stop that!”
It felt good to joke with her like this. This summer has been the weirdest by far, even with my relationship with Belly. We haven’t addressed Conrad, but it’s there, lingering in the air.
“So, who’s up for a little truth or dare?” Gigi says through a classic Gigi smirk.
“No way in hell!” Belly screams out.
“Don’t tell me you haven’t done it, Belly! It was really nice actually.” Taylor is currently telling how she’s.. you know with a stuffed animal. I obviously didn’t put my finger down, it’s disgusting.
“Alright! Put it a finger down If you’ve had sex.” Gigi, Dara, and Nicole all put fingers down. I can feel belly looking at me but of course I’m not gonna put a finger down. She may know about my little situation with Conrad but that doesn’t mean Nicole has to.
Gigi looks at me and Belly before clearing her throat, “So, your telling me neither of you have hooked up with the Fisher brothers, like ever?”
Belly’s face goes red and I know we can finally switch gears on the situation. I sigh, “Not me, but I don’t know about little Belly over here—”
“Oh my gosh yes yes! Never have I ever made out with Jeremiah fisher!” I could tell Taylor was dying to get those words out, and Belly squeezes her eyes shut before putting down a finger.
“What?! When?” Nicole gushes over the situation and she’s probably just happy it wasn’t Conrad. I laugh at the thought.
“Sorry, Gigi..” Belly awkwardly pushes the words out of her throat before looking back over at Gigi, who is red as a tomato.
“No, no, it’s fine.” Gigi answers but I know she’s dying on the inside. “What about you yn? You sure no fisher brothers?”
I swallow the guilt down my throat as memories of Conrad swirl my mind. If I could, in this moment I would yank them out my head and into the ocean.
I love you, please
I want it to be you, Conrad.
It’s fine, we’re fine.
“Yn?” I’m brought back to reality with Frankie flashing her hand in my face. I move back a little and a small chuckle leaves my lips. “Sorry, I spaced. But uh- no, I haven’t.”
Belly laughs a little before mumbling under her breath, “Yeah right.”
Instead of doing what I wanted to, which was grabbing her and telling her everything. I would say, I’ve loved Conrad for as long as you have, maybe even longer. It was out of love, not what you think. It’s not your right to judge. I love him.
Instead, I ignore Belly and look ahead of me, not daring to respond.
I think Nicole picks up on the situation because the next thing she said totally switches them mood: “Never have I ever been skinny dipping, in hoppers cove?”
Taylor shrieks, “Is that a dare?”
“Fuck it.” Frankie adds on.
So here we are, minutes later naked in the water. In hoppers cove. The water felt cold against my skin but it was relaxing. I hated the idea of this at first but Taylor and Frankie seemed to be getting along so it was fine. Like Conrad says, we were fine.
“This is fucking crazy.” I yell out in the calm of the night. Frankie splashes my face and I splash her right back.
“Hey wait, who are you taking to the deb ball?” Taylor and Belly soon began quiet and watched my every move. Nicole said she’d be right back because she got a text message from Conrad. Damn Frankie for asking this.
“uhm.. I really don’t know yet.”
“It’s like, tomorrow.” Taylor blurts out.
“I still don’t have a date either.” Belly confesses and Taylor’s eyes widen, “You still haven’t asked Jeremy?!”
“It’s not that I don’t want to.. it’s just, I don’t know where we stand. We got in a disagreement after the Volleyball tournament and—”
I didn’t need to hear the rest. I knew it was about Conrad. Susannah always said Jeremiah was the “golden retriever” but when he got angry, he got angry. Jeremiah was the best at holding grudges but one thing he would never do is be second to someone in a relationship. Especially not to Conrad.
“Oh my God, those fucking idiots!” Frankie motions to the light flashing and I see a car pulling out: Nicole’s car. What the fuck?
“I knew they were bitches!” Taylor exclaims.
Wow, Frankie and Taylor are really similar, I didn’t realize it till now.
Taylor and Frankie begin to swim over to the dock and me and Belly just stare at each other, not knowing what the hells going on.
“uh, yn.. come over here.” Taylor’s voice trails off as she says it and I immediately swallow whatever guilt I know i’ll have to deal with. Me and Belly swim to the dock and sit up right in the water.
“They took everything!” Belly yells.
“Except our phones, and yours yn.” Frankie begins, “which has a very incriminating text from Conrad.”
Oh fuck.
I don’t look at Belly because if I do my mind will start to swirl. With guilt. With every fucking emotion.
“Mhm. It states, ‘I do want you. You know I do.’” Taylor says it with an edge on her voice but deep down I know she wants this, for Belly. She’s always liked Jeremiah better.
I grab the phone from Taylor’s hand and see that the text is very real. Very much there. I groan at the thought because I knew I would have to explain everything to Belly, everything that’s happened. She deserves that.
“Okay, right now we need to focus on how we’re getting home.” I breathe the words out and everyone nods their head.
“Well, what do we do? We can’t just walk home naked!” Taylor says.
“Um, well, there is that?” Belly points to something which grabs all of our attention, and then a groan.
“Fuck me.” Frankie says.
Conrad POV:
Right now, all I wanted to do was go home.
Steven convinced me to go to this party, even though Shayla was going. Jere ended up coming though so I’ve been at the stairs occasionally grabbing a drink.
I see Jeremiah look at me and then walk up the stairs to sit next to me. I pat the seat next to me jokingly.
“Hey man.” I say.
“What’s up?” Jeremiah leans against the railing and lets out a big breathe before speaking, “why yn?”
I scoff, “I’m sorry?”
Jeremiah shakes his head, “Don’t do that. Act like you don’t know what i’m talking about, because you do.” I knew what he was talking about, I really did. I just didn’t wanna face that reality. For so many years it was just me and yn, on a little island, until it broke apart and we spread other places.
“Jeremiah—”
“No.”
“What the fuck do you want me to do? Apologize?”
Jeremiah slammed his hand against the railing, “Yes, Conrad! Please do apologize for fucking yn. She’s not just some random girl you met, not like Nicole. She’s yn, our family friend. We’re you just that desperate for a fuck?—”
I felt the blood raise to my head. But I couldn’t move. I knew it in my bones, yn was different. She wasn’t just some girl, some hookup. She was my best friend, and my lover too.
Jeremiah had no right to basically accuse me of taking advantage of her, when that’s so clearly not what happened. He had a lot of crazy opinions lately.
“Shut the fuck up Jere, you have no idea.”
“Right,” He says through a twisted laugh, “So your telling me what? You have feelings for her? Don’t be an idiot, all these years you’ve strung her along, might as well throw Belly in their too. You’ve had yn at your feet for years man. But she wasn’t just yours, she was all of ours.”
I gulped, swallowing the guilt I was feeling. My mom always told me I was protective over yn in different way than I knew. I claimed it was because she was my best friend, but she always said one day I would realize the truth. I just never meant for Jere to feel this way.
“I’m sorry—”
“You’re sorry for what? Fucking her? Taking her virginity all for another one night stand? It’s pathetic.”
What the hell was his problem?
Jeremiah’s phone rings and as he goes to get up, I follow his actions and grab his shoulder. He turns to me, hesitantly.
“I love her, Jere.”
He shrugs my shoulder away before walking down the stairs, but I saw a small frown come over his face. I knew he knew it too.
“Conrad.” A voice takes me out of my sadness and Nicole is standing in front of me, not to happy either. Before I can answer i’m being dragged by the arm out the door. We stop in front of Nicole’s car.
“Nicole, what’s—”
“Save it. I was at Hoppers Cove and I saw your text to yn. That you want her? What the fuck have I been missing?”
My Adams apple bobs up and down in my neck before I can muster a response, and the only thing I can think is i’m such a fucking idiot.
“Nicole i’m sorry, okay? I can explain.”
“Don’t. This whole summer I’ve been trying to figure it out, but, it’s all about yn isn’t it? Every single thing.”
“Yeah.” Is the only thing that comes out of my mouth and the shock on her face isn’t too surprising but the next thing was. A hard smack comes to my face and I groan in agony.
“Fuck you, Conrad.”
“Nicole that’s not how I meant it—”
“No, you know what? You didn’t hurt me, you wasted my time. A lot of people wanna be with me Conrad, and I might take them up on that offer.”
“That’s great..” I cringe at my words but I really don’t know what I’m supposed to say.
She shakes her head and opens the door to her car, reaching in. When she comes out, she tosses a bag at my chest.
“Your girlfriend and her friends might need this.”
When Nicole walks away I process what’s right in front of me. The girls clothes. In a bag. What the fuck?
“Conrad!” I turn around to se Jeremiah running up to me.
“Jere—”
“We have a problem.”
A/N: eeeee! Dramaaaa! he finally said it guys. 😭🫶🏻 lemme know what you guys think sorry for taking so long!
A Perfect Fit (II)
James Potter x muggle reader
Note: (Mature content in bold!) (Part I) / (part 3)
Tumblr media
"Harry! Don't forget to wash your hands!" Y/n yelled at the top of her lungs. James entered the house once more, leaving the door open.
"Great, here." Y/n said as she handed him two small suitcases and grabbed her white handbag and two grocery bags.
"Give me those." Y/n's best friend, Nicole said, as she took the bags from Y/n and threw them into the back seat of Y/n's car.
"Careful, my glasses are in those." Y/n said tiredly as, Nicole dismissed her with a wave.
You may be wondering what all the rush was but it was currently 9 in the morning and they had two hours to get to the Potter household, where they would celebrate Harry's sixth birthday.
"I'll got get the little rascal," Nicole said, walking back into the house. "You have 15 seconds to hide before the tickle monster choses his next victim!"
Y/n turned to face James and closed the car's boot. James smiled at her and reached for her hand. "What's going on? You seem...distracted."
Y/n stared at the James, eyes narrowed in thought, "How is it we've been dating for four years and not once have I met you parents?"
James raised an eyebrow and let a small grin tug on his mouth, "Are you nervous?"
"I am not nervous, I just think it's not fair you've met my parents loads of times and this my first time meeting yours."
"Your parents are great-"
"-You're only saying that because my father never wastes an opportunity to embarrass me."
"My parents will love you, there is nothing to be worried about." James assured, cupping the side of her face in his hand and kissing her forehead.
"I think there are lots of things to be worried of." Y/n mutters just as Nicole walks out with a pouting Harry on her shoulders.
"Dad! Tell Aunt Nicole I'm not a baby!" Harry whines.
"But you are! You're just a witow baby." Nicole teases in a baby voice, pinching his little chubby cheeks.
"No! I'm big!" He defends crossing his arms with huff, while Nicole buckles up his seat belt. "Stop snogging, we're gonna be late." Nicole comments, Y/n sticks her tongue out at her, causing the other to do the same.
James walks over to Harry's side and kisses the boy's head. "C'mon Prongslet, that's no mood to welcome your birthday with."
"Aunti Cole started it!"
"Aunti Cole won't be giving you any presents if you blame her again." The older woman retorts making Harry shut up with hopeful eyes.
"Okay, i'll go check over the house real quick and be back." Y/n replied as she ran back, making sure all the windows were closed, light's and stoves switched off and locking the doors.
"All ready?" James asked as Y/n sat at the drivers seat and switched on the engine. The car roared to life whilst they buckled up.
"Here we go." Y/n muttered unsure as she drove out the driveway and into the road; starting their two-hour journey.
An hour later, Nicole and Harry were out cold, leaned over each other in an adorable way. (James definitely didn't sneak a picture)
That left James and Y/n the only ones awake. And James didn't know if it was the tiredness creeping on him or the heat of the noon sun but he couldn't help admire every feature of Y/n's gorgeous figure.
His eyes, hazed with love and awe, roamed over her hair, the wind brushing through it, the light casting an illuminated outline over it.
Her hands, nails painted and filed, fingers drumming over the steering wheel. She had one hand over the wheel, the other clasped with James'. His thumb stroked her knuckles basking in the feeling of soft skin.
"Alright, baby?" Y/n asked looking over at him.
"You're so beautiful." He muttered, bringing her hand to his lips, kissing the back and trailing kisses over her palm, Y/n chuckled and grabbed his chin. She gave the empty road a last look before guiding his head towards hers' for a small yet sweet peck.
"You're not so bad yourself." She teased with a smile. Y/n faced him once more noting his tired dopey eyes. "Rest." She said as she brushed his hair back and rested his head on the car seat.
"I don't wanna leave you alone."
"I'm be fine, James. Only fourty-minutes left." She reassured and though James tried to resist his sleepiness and protest, he failed.
In a blink, Y/n's voice gently coaxed him from sleep and once he opened his eyes he met the large, brown doors of his family house.
"Nicole, Nikki, wake up." Y/n nudged the sleeping girl as she unbuckled Harry's seat belt. Harry stirred in his sleep as Y/n brought him up and hoisted him at her hip.
"I'm up, I'm up." Nicole commented groggily as she rubbed her eyes.
James got up and unlocked the truck pulling out the suitcases and handing Y/n her handbag, shutting the boot and locking the car.
The three of them of made their way to the door and knocked. "You didn't metion you lived in castle, Potter." Nicole raised a brow.
"It's not a castle." James muttered, pink dusting his cheeks. "Sorry didn't hear that, what did you say?" Nicole teased but just before James could answer the door swinged open revealing a woman in her mid-fourtiee, who Y/n identified as James's mother.
"Jamie!" The woman squealed as she tugged James in a crushing hug, " 'Jamie'?" Snorted Nicole, who got jabbed in the rib by Y/n.
"Hello, mum." James greeted his face red but still lifted with a smile.
"You must be Y/n!" Mrs. Potter says with a large smile and a point of her finger.
"Thank you for having us Mrs. Potter."
"Euphemia, and please my house is yours."
The older lady pulls Y/n into a hug and kisses both of her cheeks, "and there's my grandson! Oh, he's sleeeping." Mrs. Potter noted, she pushed Harry's hair aside, and kissing his forehead.
"Nicole?" She tries with a smile as Nicole nods with a chuckle and also gets a hug. "Come on in! Fleamont will be back shortly, he'll be wanting to see all of you. I can see your all tired, why don't rest till dinner, hmm?" She suggests.
"Jamie, if Y/n doesn’t want to sleep with you, she can have the room across from yours. And I'll show Nicole her room."
Nicole takes her bag from James and follows Mrs. Potter.
"C'mon, Harry's rooms is up here." James says as he leads Y/n to a large, classically decorated room with a heavily pillowed bed in the centre.
James walks of to the side placing Harry's spiderman suitcase near the small wardrobe.
Y/n leans down and gently rests Harry on the bed, the small boy squirms and whimpers. "Shhh." Y/n whispers patting his bed back to sleep as James covers him with the large duvet.
Y/n removes his glasses and places them on the bedside. She grabs some of the large pillows and lies them on each of his sides so he doesn't fall off.
Y/n and James both turns kissing his head before leaving the room, shutting it gently.
James wraps an arm around Y/n's waist, leading her towards his room, the other hand carrying their suitcase.
"It may be a little...messy." James warns sheepishly as they take a turn and meet Mrs. Potter.
"Was just showing Nicole her room. I'm so happy to have you here. James and Harry have told us so much about you." She says as she hugs you once more, he face pulled into the biggest smile you've ever seen.
"All good things I hope." Y/n joked, looking up at James, chuckling at his flushed face.
"Mum-"
"Nonsense, I should've had you bring her over years ago." She emphasises, "I have a right to meet the woman who so wonderfully helped raise my grandson, don't you think? The boy turned out to be the sweetest, kindest boy I've seen." Euphemia complements and it's Y/n's turn to flush.
"Everytime Harry comes over, he spends most of his time telling me of all of his adventures with 'Y/n and Aunti Cole'. The boy absolutely adores you, you were the perfect woman to fill the place of Harry's mother figure. Thank you." She says, slightly tearing up as Y/n hugs her.
"It was nothing." She says, running her hand soothingly up and down Euphemia's back. "We are all so lucky to have Y/n in our lives." James says as he brings Y/n into a side hug and kisses her head. "We really are." James adds softly as Y/n tries to object.
The older woman laughs wiping her eyes. "Well, I won't take more of your time. I'll call for you, when dinner is ready."
James leads Y/n to his bedroom and just as she enters with their suitcase in hand, his mum calls him.
"Yes, mum?"
"Don't forget the silencing charms." She winks, as James stutters and reds profusely. "Mum!"
"What? We don't need to hear you concieve my next Granchild." She says laughing. James only stares at his mum's retreating figure in silent shock.
"James?" Y/n's voice comes, muffled.
"Coming." He calls, entering the room and shutting.
-
Y/n flops down the soft, moaning at the feeling of James' soft pillows and covers hitting her face.
She turns on her side and stretches like a cat as James walks out of the bathroom in a new dressing.
"You need to change love." James comments, holding a hand out, to help get Y/n out of bed.
She jumps out and pushes her hair behind her ears. "Do you like this dress? I got for this occasion, specially." She says brushing down the sides of the green dress she's wearing.
"You look beautiful in everything. Even that tomato suit you wore at Halloween." He laughs as you wince.
Sirius and Nicole had teamed up to get Harry to want to go as a vegetable, thankfully their Harry dearest changed his mind last minute and chose to go as Spider-Man, leaving her and James to go as Catwoman and Batman.
Y/n smirked at the memory of her skin tight catsuit. "That wasn't the only thing you loved that night."
Her cheeky smile met his flushed cheeks.
"Be honest, do you like the dress?" She asked. James sighed and let his eyes roam over the dark fabric.
"I don't like green." He said honestly, "But you make it look beautiful." He added.
"What about these necklaces?" She asked toying with gold chains wrapped around her neck.
"Y/n..." James pleaded but she only pouted. James faced his feet taking off his socks, not wishing to meet his girlfriend's sad eyes. He heard Y/n sigh deeply causing his heart to clench.
"Well...I've got one more thing..." She said and following was the sound of shuffling. "James?" He heard her call.
James shut his eyes, taking a deep breathe and lifting his head before opening them.
Y/n's dress pooled at her feet, leaving her in nothing but a set of lacy white lingerie and a fake pout. "You don't like it do you?"
She turned around and shook her head as she took of the jewelry, giving James a perfect view of her back form.
In one swift movement James stood in front of her, he slipped his hands under her thighs, meaning for her to wrap them around his torso.
"You planned that?" He asked, moving them to the bed and laying above her. "Maybe." She teased and moaned when James ground down on her.
"Got me all hard while we're at my parents house." He groaned, slipping off shirt as Y/n pushed his pants down with her foot.
James attached his lips to Y/n's neck sucing and licking purple bruises all over. He trailed his kisses to her collar bone, between her breasts, down her stomach and just over the band of her panties.
He pressed a kiss to her clit, right over the fabric, causing her to moan and arch her back.
"James!"
"Tricking and teasing me like that." He tutted.
Y/n huffed and in one quick move, she had James on his back and her sitting on his very revealed erection.
James groaned as Y/n moved her hips against him. "Fuck, Y/n!"
She took off the pieces of clothing that limited their touch and pleasure as James' hands gripped onto her hips, "Gonna ride me, darling?" Jamss taunted but stopped short when Y/n unclasped her bra and let it fall off, throwing somewhere cross the room.
Even after four years of this, James was still always stunned by her beauty, he didn't think there would ever be a time where he got used to this. Her.
She leaned over letting her breasts lay against his chest, and brought her lips just over his. James squirmed in his place, desperate for friction. "Still in a taunting mood, Potter?" She asked.
He brought his lips to her pushing his tongue through and claiming every inch of her mouth. Y/n pulled away with a smirk, her hair falling over and framing her face.
She placed little kisses over his collarbone before pushing back and grabbing his cock, causing him to give out an involuntary moan.
She rubbed his precum over the tip before raising her hips and let him slide in slowly. They both moaned, James had a hand in her right hip and another in between her legs, a finger circling her nub.
"James..." Y/n breathed out as she rocked her hips back and forth.
Y/n breath hitches when James presses her down onto him and his hips rock up. A curse leaves her mouth that soon turns into whimpers and soft moans as he moves with her.
One of his hands travels down but she pushes it away. He groans. He's close, she can feel it.
His voice grows darker, his moans louder, and in her own body, the knot tightens. It tightens and tightens and when his movements begin to lose control, become more erratic with each thrust, it doesn’t take long for her to see stars in front of her eyes.
"James..." She pleas coming, soft and trembling, back arching and blabbering his name over and over.
James follows shortly after and fuck, he just know that the image of Y/n overcome with pleasure will always stun him to silence.
The waves of Y/n's orgasm wash over her and suddenly she lacks any strength to hold herself up any longer.
James wraps an arm around her when she sinks down to rest on his chest. He’s still breathing heavily, even when his fingers trace lazy lines on the skin of her body.
She smiles.
James moves closer and places a peck on her lips. "Hi." She replies softly, revealing the tiredness in her voice. "I love you." He whispers kissing her temple. "Me too." She says with a lazy smirk as James barks out a laugh.
"You love yourself too?" He jokes laughing as she nods with a grin, "But I guess I love you too."
"You 'guess'?" He questions with an amused brow. Y/n rolls her eyes and gets up, "I'm going to go shower."
James groans.
"And if your done moping, you can join me."
Song: Barren by Nicole Dollanganger
Dead Dove Do Not Eat: non-con
“You’re being a crybaby.”  His voice is harsh and minimizing. The air around you both brushes past your cheeks, making you realize that you had been crying.  Your chest feels tight- have you been hyperventilating or is it just the anxiety that comes with the situation of all of this?  “I told you at the start, I’ll become God even if nobody else wants it to happen.”
Tumblr media
Warnings: spoilers for PLA, creampie, non-con
The sickening, limp thud of your pokemon hitting the ground made your eyes shoot away from Volo and Giratina instantly, looking at the unmoving, not breathing body of your friend.  You don’t even hear yourself scream, but you can feel the sting in your throat as the noise escapes you and the burn of your knees on the cold, harsh tile ground.  Your pokemon’s body is still warm, of course it is, but the fact it doesn’t call to you- the fact that it’s completely still as your shaking hands grasp at it shows you what you already knew.  The sharp tug of your head upwards and annoyed grunt from Volo brings you back to Earth quickly.  You’ve never seen him so, so…  You can’t even formulate one thought before your brain starts a new one.  His eyebrows are furrowed in anger and disgust, he’s sneering like you’re shit that he stepped on (and, to be honest, that’s exactly how you feel), the fingers gripping your hair near the scalp are practically trembling with the force behind them.
“What, you bastard, are you going to kill me?” Your voice sounds foreign to you, had you really screamed that loud or that long that it’s rasping and painful?  You’ve never spoken to anyone (much less Volo) in such a vitriolic tone, it feels almost disgusting to use it.  The grip is slowly released for your hair, your hands immediately flying up to massage the sore spot.  Volo flicks his hands, probably riding them of whatever hair he managed to yank out.
“You’re being a crybaby.”  His voice is harsh and minimizing. The air around you both brushes past your cheeks, making you realize that you had been crying.  Your chest feels tight- have you been hyperventilating or is it just the anxiety that comes with the situation of all of this?  “I told you at the start, I’ll become God even if nobody else wants it to happen.”
“No need to call me names,” his voice is like he’s chastising you for speaking out of line to an authority figure (is that what he is now?), “I’m not the one who’s in the wrong here.”
“You’re not in the wrong?” You spit back, standing on shaking legs.  Has he always been so tall?  Has he always towered over you?  His laughter crackles through the air, making you feel even more miniscule so close to him.
“It’s so fun to see you angry at me!” His voice cuts through his own laughter like a knife, unyielding and sharp.  “It’s almost cute.”
You grit your teeth so hard it’s painful. “Fuck off, don’t call me cute.”
“Such language!  So unsightly for someone so cute, someone who practically followed me around like a lost puppy for how long now?” He shrugs. “It hardly matters now, I suppose.  Regardless, you shouldn’t be acting like this.  You’re normally so kind to everyone…” His voice is sarcastic and he leans over you, his grin wicked and wide.  His hand is hot and uncomfortable as he tilts your head up at him by your chin.  “C’mon, you know who you’re talking to now, please don’t be so angry and annoyed.”
You huff and remove your chin from his grip.  You’re overtly aware of his status, of what he can do to you without a second thought.  His hand lowers down to your chest for a few moments, running over the fabric over your breasts.  “You’re so much cuter when you act like this.  You back up, stumbling slightly and cover your chest with your arms, your face heating up in anger and embarrassment from his touch.  “Oh?  Do you not want me to touch you there?  Is anywhere else also off limits?”
“Don’t be stupid, I don’t want you to touch me anywhere.”  You squirm as his hands grasp your arms.
“But what if I want to touch you?  You know I’ve been thinking about it for a while now.  I’ve been thinking about it constantly, wanting to take advantage of something so small and vulnerable like you.  Especially now that we’re alone.”  His words make your body turn ice cold before it heats up, your hands push him away as he leans in close, making you both stumble in opposite directions.  He doesn’t seem annoyed or upset, like he already expected such a move and enjoyed it.  He takes a short step forward again, one hand gripping your chin again and the other running along the side of your body.
“You’re disgusting.”
“Well, maybe I want to get more disgusting.”  His voice is taunting, his head leaning down to brush his lips along your neck, lowering the hand he had on your chin to hold the other side of your body.  He knows that the things you can do to prevent him from going further is minimal, he’s taller, stronger, and more powerful than you are or will ever be.  “Just relax…”
Your eyes close, attempting to think of other things, of different times, while he kisses your neck in various places in a way that’s far too gentle and more loving than he has any right to be.  Your hands press against his chest, a feeble attempt to push him away- both because you know better than to upset him and also know you’re far too weak to do anything.
“You shouldn’t be trying to resist me, you know what you want.”
“Don’t be disgusting.” You retort, your eyes opening to glare at a column behind Volo.  His hands rest on your hips, easily lifting you up to press your back against the column.  “Just… Just be quick, I don’t want this to take longer than it has to.”  His laughter at your request was loud and boisterous, echoing all around you.  “You’re too loud, be quiet while you do this.  I don’t want to be reminded that someone I thought was friend is raping me.”
“So, what, you don’t think we’re friends anymore?  After everything we’ve been through together?  After everything we’re going to go through together?” He asks, her breathing growing heavy and harsh in your ear as he moves his hips against yours.
“After this?  Certainly not.” She says, glaring at him as he bares himself to her, using one hand to make sure she’s against the pillar as he strokes himself.  Once he’s sufficiently satisfied with how hard he is (so hard it looks nearly painful), his hand goes to thumb over your underwear.  His grin is sickening as your hips involuntarily jerk forward as his thumb rubs over your clothed clit.
“Ah, there it is.  Your body is responding so well for me already.”
“Don’t be stupid, you’re smart enough to know that just because my body responds doesn’t mean that I like it.”
“I know that, I just don’t really care.” His voice is mocking. “It’s good enough for me to see your body enjoying what I’m doing even if you hate it.” He tugs the fabric to the side, wiping his spit against his fingers and rubbing your slit with it.  You’re dry, dry enough to where it would be unpleasant for him, so it’s not for your pleasure.  He presses his red, sensitive tip in for a split second as though he just wants to see a reaction from you.
“H-Hey!” You shout, tensing up and pushing against his chest.
“What?  You don’t have to worry, I’m not going to do anything that you don’t want me to do.” He says, laughing as he presses again, more going in this time.  His groan is directly in your ear.
“Volo, knock it off.”
“What, I thought you just wanted me to be quick.” He says, taunting you as he bottoms out in you with a loud, exaggerated moan.  You look away and cringe, pain racing through you for a split second as he pierces your unprepared cunt.  He’s not large and not thick, but the fact that you’re still unprepared makes it feel bigger than it ever could be.  His laugh is monstrous as you clench around him.  He’s smart enough to know that your body’s reactions are automatic and not a sign that you enjoy it in the slightest.  “I’m disgusting and you hate it and that only makes me want it even more, it makes me want to be slow.  But for you, princess, I’ll be quick…  But you have to talk to me- tell me how much you love this.”
“N-Ngh, you asshole.” You say, his thumb tracing circles on your clit in various patterns as his thrusts get more technical, as though he’s trying to figure out how to best get your body to react.  “I’m not saying anything that will inflate your bullshit ego.”
“Say my name and tell me you like it and then I’ll cum and leave you be.” He says, seeming to not care at all at the insults you throw at him.  He grins at you, his canines showing.
You sniffle and close your eyes, counting to 10 to calm down before your eyes flutter open.  “Volo, I like it.” You say through gritted teeth, it is so clear that its a lie.
“You can’t hide it- your body is clearly loving it.  Now, put some real effort into it, tell me exactly what you know I want to hear.”
“Don’t make me say it again, please.”
“If you don’t say what I want to hear, I’ll keep going.”
“I love it, Volo.  It feels so fucking good, don’t hurt at all.  I just wanna feel you cum, please cum in my cunt.”  You whimper in discomfort and pain when he twitches in your pained pussy, his legs tensing and his hands gripping you tighter.
“Oh, you are definitely lying to me, friend.” He says between his grunts, “But it’s fine, it just shows me how absolutely pathetic you are.  Don’t disappoint with this next part, tell me I’m making you feel good and I promise it’ll all be over.”
You force a pained, watery smile as you struggle to maintain eye contact.  You produce fake moans that make your cheeks turn red and feel gross. “Feels so good…”
“There we go…” Volo says. “Now that’s more like it.  I know it hurts, I can see it in your eyes.  You’re crying because of how much it hurts, because of how much you hate this- I love that, I really do.  The look in your eyes, the sound of your whimpering, it’s all mine and you can’t get it back.”
“Wait, please-!” You start and finish, unable to stop him from cumming.
“Good girl.” He taunts. “Now you have a reminder of it all with you.  How do you feel?”
“I feel like shit and I hate you, Volo.”
“Thanks for joining me today,guys.” Beatrice says as she pushes the cart forward, Nicole is inside while the twins were back at home with Rooster. They just fell asleep together and she knew how much he wanted to stay with them,”Roos is so nervous about the ceremony, I wanted to do something for him before Saturday.”
Shells hummed, picking up a pack of golden balloons, “Maybe some balloons?”
“Why?”
“Dunno,balloons are cool.”
“We can start small,” Evelyn then said, looking down at JJ who was strapped to her chest, his little legs bouncing, “What do you have planned,Bea?”
"I was thinking I could plan a surprise dinner for him," she suggested, a smile tugging at her lips. "Nothing too fancy, just a quiet evening at home with good food and good company."
Shells and Evelyn exchanged a glance, "That sounds perfect," Shells agreed, her grin widening. "Count us in. What do you need?"
She hums, looking around the supermarket as she huffs softly, “Well…he loves chocolate,so I’m going to try and find something to bake him a cake? And you guys can-” she pulls out two pieces of paper, “Check on these lists for me? It’s not a lot,really.”
Shells quickly snatches one of the papers, “Ooooh! Fish! Gonna get it! Meet you all at the cashier!”
With Shells dashing off to find the perfect fish for the dinner, Evelyn took a quick peek at the list in her hand. "Alright, I'll grab the vegetables and ingredients for the salad," she declared, her eyes scanning the items listed. "And maybe some wine to go with dinner."
Beatrice nodded in agreement, her smile widening at the thought of surprising Rooster with a special meal. "Sounds perfect, Ev. Thanks for helping out."
Evelyn grinned, adjusting JJ in the baby carrier as she made her way towards the produce section. "Anytime, Bea. It’ll be fine."
As Beatrice and Evelyn split up to gather the ingredients for the surprise dinner, Beatrice couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. She was determined to make the evening unforgettable for Rooster, to show him just how much he meant to her.
She inhales, then looks down at Nikki,  “Alright Nikki, let’s get some stuff for daddy, yeah?”
Nicole, nestled comfortably in the shopping cart, gurgled in response, her eyes wide with curiosity as she reached out to grab at the items on the shelves. Beatrice chuckled"Alright, sweetheart, let's find the perfect ingredients for daddy's surprise cake."
With Nicole happily babbling away in the cart, Beatrice made her way through the aisles, carefully selecting each item on her list. As Beatrice navigated through the supermarket, her mind buzzed with ideas for the surprise dinner she was planning for Rooster. She carefully selected each ingredient, envisioning the delicious meal she would prepare for him.
"You're going to love Daddy's cake, Nikki," Beatrice said with a smile, leaning down to plant a kiss on her daughter's forehead. "We're going to make it extra special, just for him."
Nicole giggled in response “Cake!”
“Yes,honey, that’s right.” she smiles as she turns the chocolate bars in her hands to check the weight for a few seconds, “You know daddy loves chocolate, just like you, that’s something you two have in common.”
After grabbing the last few items on her list, Beatrice checked twice to make sure she didn’t lose anything "Almost done, sweetie," Beatrice murmured, reaching out to ruffle Nicole's hair affectionately. "Then we'll head home and get started on Daddy's surprise."
Nicole grinned up at her, her chubby cheeks dimpling. "Cake!" she exclaimed, her excitement palpable.
Beatrice laughed at her daughter's enthusiasm, her heart swelling with love. "That's right, cake," she agreed, her smile warm and tender. "But shh, it's a surprise for Daddy, remember?"
Nicole nodded solemnly, her little finger pressed to her lips in a gesture of secrecy. "Surprise," she whispered, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Oh my God, he’s so hot too.”
Beatrice’s ears perk up at a sudden conversation, the two women were just a few steps behind her so…she couldn’t help but pay attention, “Like,okay,so,he’s probably oblivious but I’ve flirted with him so much and he doesn’t care!”
“What? Shut up! What’s his name again?”
“Bradley.”
Oh?
There’s no way, there are a lot of Bradl-
“He’s a Navy pilot. Mustache,tall, absolutely yummy. I think he’si n his forties so he’s a daddy.”
Beatrice blinks,staring ahead as she grabs more ingredients, keeping her ear on the convo and still trying to figure out what was being talked about…and if it was her Bradley.
‘He has kids too,I think three.”
“Is he married?”
“He is but like, his wife is so mid compared to him.” the woman laughs, “I only saw her like once, so. She’s a bit tubby,you know.”
…It was her Bradley.
Beatrice's heart sank as she listened to the conversation unfolding behind her. Disbelief washed over her, followed by a wave of hurt and anger. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, the air knocked out of her lungs. Her mind raced, trying to process the words she had just heard.
Her Bradley, her beloved Rooster, the man she had built a life with, was being discussed in such a disrespectful manner. The women's words stung like a thousand needles, each one piercing Beatrice's heart with painful precision.
She gripped the shopping cart tightly, her knuckles turning white with the force of her emotions. How could they talk about him like that? How could they reduce him to nothing more than a mere object of desire, a trophy to be won?
Anger flared within Beatrice, hot and fierce. She wanted to turn around, to confront the women and give them a piece of her mind. But she held herself back, knowing that it wouldn't solve anything. Instead, she focused on keeping her composure, on staying calm for Nicole's sake.
She tried at least.
“I mean and he’s like, so nice to look at. Maybe I just need to work out in front of him so he can figure out what’s really good.”
She had to keep her emotions in check. She couldn't risk causing a scene in the middle of the grocery store, especially with Nicole by her side.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Beatrice forced herself to focus on the task at hand. She pushed the cart forward, her steps measured and deliberate, as she tried to block out the conversation behind her.
But the women's words echoed in her mind, taunting her with their callousness. She walked past them and Beatrice tried to put on a brave face, plastering a smile on her lips as she looked down at Nicole.
Things she knew:
The fact they mentioned Rooster was oblivious was hilarious, when in reality he was just…happily married.
Secondly, he’d never cheat on her. She knows Rooster way too well.
Third, Rooster was probably the best man in the world. No, not probably, he was. And he didn’t have a wandering eye. She never worried about him because…well,she didn’t have to! He was loyal and romantic, he is still in love with her day by day.
But she couldn’t help but wonder about an…idea.
“Look what I got.” and something heavy lands on the cart away from a sitting Nicole, “I got you guys some saaalmooon,woooo~romantic.” Shells giggles, “And wine, look at the size of this flipping bottle!”
"Wow, that's…quite the bottle," Beatrice remarked with a chuckle, her smile genuine as she glanced at the oversized wine bottle. "I think we'll have enough to last us a while."
Shells grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Hey, when it comes to celebrating, it's always better to have too much than too little," she replied, her tone playful. "Plus, I —you okay?”
Beatrice's smile faltered for a moment as she registered Shells' concerned expression. She quickly masked her inner turmoil with a reassuring smile, nodding in response. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil swirling within her. "Just got lost in thought for a moment there."
Shells studied Beatrice for a moment, her gaze searching. "Are you sure?" she asked, her tone gentle. "You seemed a bit…distracted."
Beatrice forced a smile, her heart heavy with the weight of her thoughts. "I'm sure, Shells," she insisted, her voice soft. "Just tired, I guess. It's been a long day."
“...you just got here…”Shells didn't seem entirely convinced, but she nodded nonetheless, choosing to drop the subject for now. "Well, if you need to talk about anything, you know I'm here, right? Well,me and Ev." she offered, her tone filled with sincerity.
And Evelyn returns just in time, “What’s happening?” after she plops the groceries in the cart as well, “I got you the biggest potatoes I could find,Bea.”
Beatrice's smile widened at Evelyn's arrival, grateful for the distraction from her swirling thoughts. "Thanks, Ev," she said warmly, her tone light. "I appreciate it."
“Mhm…now, what’s bothering you? Shells said something about that just as I got here.”
"It's nothing, really," Beatrice replied, her voice attempting to sound casual despite the knot of anxiety tightening in her chest. "Just some thoughts running through my head, that's all."
Evelyn arched an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Come on, Bea. You can't fool us that easily," she teased, her tone gentle yet firm. "We've been friends for too long. We know when something's bothering you."
Shells nodded in agreement, her gaze filled with concern. "Yeah, Bea. You can talk to us about anything," she reassured, her voice soft. "We're here for you, no matter what." pause “Who do I need to kill?”
“Shells.”
“What???”
Beatrice sighed, realizing she wouldn't be able to brush off their concerns so easily. With a resigned smile, she glanced between her two friends, her heart heavy with the weight of her thoughts. "Okay, fine," she relented, her voice barely above a whisper. "Just heard…some people talking about Rooster, they go to the gym he goes I assume and…they just, you know,start talking stuff about him, about how he’s oblivious to flirting–”
“Oblivious? He’s madly in love with you, not oblivious!”
“I know Ev,” she says, ‘It just bothered me is all. They seemed really…uh…I don’t know, focused on him.”
Evelyn's expression softened with understanding as she listened to Beatrice's explanation, her gaze filled with sympathy. "I can see why that would bother you," she said gently, her voice reassuring. "But you know Rooster better than anyone. He's not the type to flirt back or encourage that kind of behavior."
Shells nodded in agreement, her features tight with concern. "Yeah, Rooster is loyal to a fault," she chimed in, her voice firm. "He loves you, Bea. And nothing anyone says or does can change that."
"I know," she whispered, her voice barely above a murmur. "I trust Rooster with all my heart. It's just…sometimes, it’s like people refuse to acknowledge the wedding ring on his finger. …that’s why I decided to join him the next time he goes to the gym.’
“Oh?”
‘He’s been asking me to join him for a while now and…well…” she shrugs, then combs Nicole’s soft hair, “I know he’d love to have me there too, you know how he is.” she smiles, ‘...I think it’d be fun.”
Evelyn and Shells exchanged a knowing look, then they nodded in unison "I think that's a great idea, Bea," Evelyn said, her voice gentle. "It'll be good for you two.”
Shells chimed in, her tone supportive. "Yeah, and you can show those gym rats that Rooster is happily married and off-limits," she added with a grin.
Beatrice chuckled at Shells' suggestion, her heart feeling a little lighter. "Thanks, guys," she said sincerely, her gaze drifting to her sleeping daughter. "I just want to make sure Rooster knows I've got his back, no matter what."
Evelyn reached out, squeezing Beatrice's hand reassuringly. "He knows, Bea. Trust me," she said with a reassuring smile. "And if anyone dares to mess with him, they'll have to deal with your very wrath."
Shells grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh, they won't know what hit them," she declared, “You did break your ex’s nose.”
Beatrice couldn't help but laugh at her friends' support, feeling grateful for their presence in her life. "Thanks, guys," she said,”...I’ll keep you updated. Now help me take this away so I can pay for it.”
Illicit Affairs
Charlie Barber x Reader
Word count: 480
Warnings: Arguing, angst, mentions of affairs
Summary: The aftermath of you telling Charlie that you love him.
Tumblr media
“Don’t call me ‘kid’, don’t call me ‘baby’, look at this godforsaken mess that you made me.” - Illicit Affairs, Taylor Swift
You knew this was coming. Deep down, you knew. It had to boil over at some point and spill all over your perfect, pretty little plans. That’s just how Charlie is. He’s complicated and indecisive when it comes to these things, and God only knows how that miraculous mind of his works . . .
He’s standing in front of you now, and you are crying. Crying, crying, crying. Why do you always cry when presented with confrontation and conflict?
“I don’t know what to say,” Charlie says, damn-near scoffing at you, even though he isn’t meaning to. No, no, no way. He thinks of you fondly, he’s made it obvious . . . All throughout this several-month-long affair, he’s thought of you fondly. At least, that’s what you’ve told yourself in order to fall asleep at night. But now, now that you’ve said the ‘L’ word, Charlie is retreating. Backing away. Closing in on himself the way he does when he’s uncomfortable.
“You don’t have to say anything,” you tell him, shaking your head. “I just wanted you to know.”
Charlie huffs.
“Jesus, you’re killing me here,” he says quietly, pinching the bridge of his nose. Your eyebrows furrow.
“I’m killing you?”
“Yes!” he says as if it’s the most obvious thing in the entire world.
“What does that even mean!?” you ask, genuinely wanting to hear his response.
“It means fuck! I’m married!”
“That never seemed to stop you before,” you say, crossing your arms as Charlie glares down at you.
“I still care about Nicole. She’s still my wife.”
You pause, hesitating. You’ve embarrassed yourself. That’s what’s happened here. You told him you loved him, and he told you that he still cares about his wife, and–
“Fuck,” you breathe, closing your eyes. “Fuck.”
You tricked yourself into thinking that this could be something more than a fling. An affair. A fun little rendezvous. How could you be so stupid? So blind? He doesn’t love you; he never did. He just wanted someone to fuck, someone who wasn’t Nicole.
He’s saying your name, now, but you’re hurrying to pull your shoes on and get the fuck out of his house. There are paintings and pictures on the walls, ones that remind you that a family lives here, a family you were willing to destroy for a chance to love Charlie Barber.
“Don’t,” you snap when Charlie reaches for your arm. “I’m leaving.”
“Don’t go, we can talk this out,” Charlie says.
You shake your head.
“I’m not sticking around just to be your sex buddy, Charlie. I can’t do it.”
He clenches his jaw, and you walk out of his front door for the last time, tears shining in your eyes.
“Oh my god,” You gasp with Belly and Taylor, “I can’t believe they just left us here!” You groan.
“Also, they took our Fucking clothes, Those cunts!” Taylor scoffs, rolling her eyes.
“What the Fuck are we gonna do?” Belly questioned, “Calm down it’s going to be fine, we just need to find something to cover us up,” you say looking around.
“I’ll look for something to cover us up,” Taylor offered swimming finding something.
“While you do that I’m going to call Jeremiah,” You get your phone from the side of the lake, pressing his contact name.
Ring, ring.. “Hello, Jere we need help,” You shout down the phone, cause he clearly at a party.
“Oh my, Y/N where are you, sweetheart,” Jeremiah walking outside so he can hear you, concerned for you.
“Hang on,” You look up, “Guys where are we?” You questioned, “Shit, we don’t even know, some kind of lake,” Belly shouted, Taylor trying to find something.
“Jeremiah, I’m going to put my Snapchat location on for you to see where we are because we have no clue. And also we are naked, can you bring clothes? For me, Belly and Taylor,” You told Jeremiah, taking a deep breath trying not to panic.
“Really, your naked! ok I’ll be there and bring clothes for you guys, bye love you,” Jeremiah quickly ends the call after you say, “love you,”
You swim, where Belly and Taylor are. “I’ve got good news and Bad news,” You tell them, They look at you, “what’s the bad news?” Taylor asked.
“Well, the bad news is that it’s going to take time for Jeremiah to come but the good news is he is and with clothes for us too!” You all smile and sigh at the same time.
“It’s so fucking cold, I’m Freezing my tits off,” Belly complains, “Aren’t we all?” You sigh.
“We could at least try to, find something and walk a bit naked?” Taylor said, “I agree, it’s going to be late as it is when Jere gets here so better get our asses up,” You say, “Come on,”
“Fuck, we really doing this?” Belly grumbled more out of fear of being seen, “Yes,” you and Taylor say at the same time.
You, Belly and Taylor get out the water. Luckily there was no one about to see you.
“Look over there, a really big boat sheet!” Taylor and you pulled it off quickly, wrapping it around you, belly and her.
“Well at least this is better than nothing,” Belly said, you start walking only thing you got in your hands is your phones.
You get up this long road, “Remind me not to ever go skinny dipping again unless it’s just you guys,” You laugh enlightening the mood, “Yh same Y/N,” Belly and Taylor laughed too, shaking their heads.
🧋
Meanwhile, after Jeremiah got your call. Conrad came to him with a bag full of clothes, which was yours and the girls!
“Oh, my God, Who the fuck did that to them!” Jere scoffed as Conrad and him speed run to their cars, “It was fucking Nicole and some other pathetic girls, they are so done!” Conrad growls,
“Y/N rang me up, that’s how I knew that happened.” Jere told, Conrad nodded.
They both stepping on the gas peddle following the directions on your Snapchat location.
Speeding up the highway late at night, to get you girls safe and clothed. They didn’t have time to get Steven because God knows where he is plus it would be just awkward because Belly is his sister.
🧋
“I am so done, Walking!” You all groan, “My feet hurt,” You huff, “Ours too!” Taylor and Belly laugh out.
“Wait, wait,” You say, stopping the girls, “I see a light of two cars,” You jump up and down as they stop, seeing not only Jeremiah but Conrad too.
“Oh my God, Yes,” You all scream, “Thank you so much Guys,” Jeremiah and Conrad come with your clothes.
“We was just worried, now let’s help you,” Jeremiah said, Conrad agreeing. Lifting the sheet both ends together turning around for you all to get change into your clothes.
You go into Jeremiah’s car, the girls winking at you. You wink cheekily back to them, especially Belly since you know that her and Conrad has a clear connection!
Your now sat in Jere’s jeep with the heater on, even the seats are hot! You relax into them as Jeremiah gets into the car.
“Are you ok, sweetheart?” Jere looks at you sincerely, before he starts the Engine he leans into you to kiss you on the lips passionately, “I’m so glad your safe, Darling,”
“Yes, I’m ok! Thanks for getting us, Nicole and her little friends are such bitches!” You roll your eyes, but smiling into the kiss none the less.
“I agree,” Jere nods, stepping on the peddle.
Your finally happy as your in the car with your man, going home or so you thought?
You get like half way home, Looking out the window into a haze of day dreams.
You feel a warm hand on your thigh, sending butterflies down your spine and tummy. You relax into Jeremiah’s touch, loving the way he shows his endearment. You feel a rush of wetness to your pussy, which makes you squish your thighs together.
“Do you want me to stop, Baby?” Jeremiah smirks, knowing that you will be nestled warm in his back seat with him but of course it’s completely your choice.
“Yes, I would like that,” You whimper, loving the way he wants to take care of you.
Jeremiah pulls over into a side by lane, which no one really goes down. He unclips his seat belt and yours pulling you in for a soft, gently kiss.
“Let me take care of you, Sweetheart,” Jeremiah whispers, giving you kiss sweet smile as he kisses your ear tugging it a bit in his mouth.
You always knew your boyfriend would go far and beyond for you. Knowing this as you look around to see blankets, Pillows and more to comfort you in the back.
“Oh my, ok jere bear,” You smirk, giving him a kiss on the cheek as you get into the back laying down Jeremiah follows you.
Jeremiah hovers over you, taking his shirt off. It is warm in the car as Jere has repaired it all! You follow suit, taking your own clothes off.
Jeremiah wraps you around in a blanket, kissing down your neck, valley of your breasts, your tummy and all the way down to your tight juicy cunt.
Your now fully focus on him and the pleasure, as he is to you. Rubbing your hand to comfort you, he looks up.
“So fucking gorgeous, baby girl!” Jeremiah comes back up to your face, kissing you with his sweet lips, “My Pretty girl, I’m gonna take care of you!”
“Mm, please do Jeremiah,” You moan out as he goes back down to your thighs and pussy kissing them.
“God, your so wet! Sweetheart soaking all for me,” Jere breaths in and out, smelling your fresh scent, “What do you want Petal? My fingers, tongue,” He suggests, admiring you being patient.
“Both,” you smirked, squirming, “I want your sexy slender fingers and your sexy, thick tongue swirling around in me! Jere,” You gasped as he goes straight to your pussy.
Jeremiah takes his finger, slowly sliding it into your wet slit. “There you go baby, it’s ok! You can take it,” He adds another one, going in and out, “There is my good girl,”
He moves down so he’s face to face with your wet, tight cunt. Moving his mouth towards you, licking up and down on your clit passionately.
“Just like that Jere, Ah oh! Your doing so good,” You moan, he takes his hands placing them over your thighs to comfort you, “squish my thighs, I love your hands on them,”
Jeremiah goes deeper as he touches your thighs, digging his fingers tips into them. He is eating you out like there is no tomorrow, “Mm, Fucking delicious,” He whispers, swirling his tongue down to your slit tasting all of you.
Your thighs are shaking with pleasure as Jeremiah continues until you cum all over his tongue. He licks up all your juices, after coming back up kissing you on the lips.
“Fuck, that was so good Baby,” you giggle, pulling Jeremiah into another kiss, “Yes, I agree you taste so fucking Yummy,” He winks, now his cock is sticking up so hard!
“I want you so bad, Sweetheart,” Jeremiah smiles kissing you, “I want your cock so bad too,” You smirk, grabbing his hard on.
Jeremiah scrunches his face up in pleasure as you stroke him, “Oh my God, feels so good!” He moans, laying you back down so he can fuck you good and proper.
Jere is always prepared taking out a condom from the car door, he puts on his length. Just like he had his car set up like this because even though he had to come get you, he was going to suggest this after you got back.
“Hurry,” You moan out,
“Impatient are we?” Jere questions smirking, “well, I have to fuck it out of you,”
“Fuck, please do!” You nod,
Jeremiah takes his cock smashing it into your pussy as you both groan at the sensation. He quickly thrusts into your tight cunt, you easily opening up for him as he already prepped you with his fingers earlier.
Jeremiah lifts your legs up, giving you more pleasure as he bends his torso down. So you can wrap your arms and legs around him.
“Good girl, My good girl!” Jeremiah grunts, pounding your little hole into bliss, “You like when I fuck you like this, so hard, fast and deep Baby,”
“Fuck,” You whimper, “Yes, Faster, Harder,” Barely getting out the words as Jere jerks his hips into you more.
“Fuck, feels so good,” You groan, “Jeremiah,”
“You feel so snug and tight around my cock, Baby girl!” Jeremiah praises as he grabs your tit in between his fingers, “Yes, play with my tits,” You moan, rolling your eyes back with your mouth open.
“Mm, you close Pretty girl!” Jeremiah questioned, you nodded, “Awe, is my cute little baby going to cum for me?” He encourages you, him feeling he’s close too.
You nod again as you let go, he release too! You came at the same time In bliss.
Jeremiah pulls out, kissing you softly as you have tired eyes. “You was good, Darling,” Jere whispers into your ear.
Jeremiah puts the condom away, Cleaning himself and you up with a towel. Then he wraps the blanket around you a bit more as you get comfortable into the pillows.
Jere goes under the covers with you, pulling you into his bare, toned warm chest cuddling you. You hum in content as you wrap your arms around him.
“Goodnight Love you so much, sweetheart,” He whispers into your ear, kissing you sweetly.
“Night night Love you so much too, Jere bear,” You giggle, bringing him in for another kiss on his plumed lips.
He strokes your head as you fall asleep peacefully into his arms, no more worries as your safe into his arms now! Jere falls asleep with you too.
"It’s a baby, Dean, not a monster.” She calls over her shoulder as she crouches near the car seat.
“Hang on, don’t touch it,” he admonishes, catching up to her, holding out a flask pulled from his back pocket.
“Is that really necessary?” He arches a brow at her, and she reluctantly concedes, huffing, “Fine! But just a couple of drops.” Nic breathes a relieved sigh when a tiny foot flinches, startled by the cool liquid, but nothing else happens. Wide, watery eyes hold hers, and she reaches for the small outstretched hands.
“Stop!”
With a heavy sigh she turns an exasperated look to Dean, only to find him pulling out the small silver knife he keeps stashed in his boot. “I’m not cutting a baby!”
“What?! Geezus, do you really think I want you to slice into a kid?” he huffs indignantly, twirling the weapon so the hilt is pointed at her.
Nic’s cheeks warm with embarrassment, “N-no,” but Dean’s expression clearly indicates he doesn’t believe her. “I’m sorry.” She juts out her bottom lip, features morphing into her best impression of a sad puppy. “Forgive me?”
Rolling his eyes, Dean shakes his head, but he can’t hide the quirk of his lips. She shifts toward the child, but he grips her forearm. “Remember me telling you about the shifter baby?”
Understanding spreads across her features, and she looks back at the infant. “Oh yeah. That was before you let me officially become part of the team.” Reminded of the night after a rough hunt where they’d had to bandage each other up, which led to sharing a bed and the start of their more than friends relationship, she gives him a teasing smile.
Dean hums, teeth sinking into his bottom lip, obviously recalling their first night together as well. A soft cry brings their attention back to the matter at hand. Countenance soft but determined, he gently twists her arm and places the weapon in her hand.
“Alright, alright.” Nic carefully places the flat end of the blade against the child’s foot. Once again, the baby startles, eyes wide and body stiff, but there’s no sizzling of skin or other indications of a supernatural being, and they both exhale in relief.
Apparently, having had enough of their shenanigans, the tiny human emits a loud wail, body trembling, legs kicking, arms thrown out, and hands balled into fists. Nic quickly releases the buckle and lifts the baby from the car seat, standing as she bounces the child in her arms. The wails turn to whimpers, but the small face remains red, and tears flow from the corners of scrunched eyes.
When the infant continues to fuss despite Nic’s best efforts, she finally gives up and hands the little outraged bundle to Dean. As soon as the child is resting against his shoulder, silence surrounds them. “Of course,” she huffs, rolling her eyes when Dean flashes her a smug smile and a wink.
Cautiously looking around, Dean says. “We should probably take her to the hospital. Make sure she’s not hurt.”
“No!” Nic emphatically cries. “If we do that, they’ll want to question us and then call CPS.”
“Nicole.” Dean understands her resistance to the idea. Nic was thrown into the system a few weeks before Christmas at an age where she could remember everything that happened. He also isn’t thrilled about the prospect of dealing with the police or child services. However, they’re not equipped to take care of a child. “She might need-”
“No!” Bottom lip trembling, eyes tearing up, she begs, “Please. She can move all her limbs, her eyes are bright, and her lungs are obviously fine. This close to the holidays, CPS is even more overwhelmed. Who knows what will happen.” She gently places a hand on the baby’s back, “or where this cutey will end up.”
“Nico.” She glares at him, but he continues, knowing that he may be risking life and limb, attempting to make her see reason. “I get it, I really do, but we don’t have even one of the million items it takes to care for a baby. It’s probably best-”
Quickly cutting him off, voice edged with determination but eyes pleading, she argues, “We have a car seat. We’ll stop at the store on the way back to the hotel. If we find any signs of injuries once we’re safe, then we’ll take her to the hospital.” She grips the edge of his jacket with her free hand. “W-we can call Jody to see if she can help us. Please.”
“We can’t-” A soft coo reaches his ear, and tiny fingers brush against his neck as Nic tilts her head, a tear slipping from the corner of her eye. “Fine,” he sighs in resignation, “but we’re calling Jody as soon as we get back to the hotel.”
“Thank you!” she gleefully cries, throwing her arms around him, careful not to squish the baby between them. Pulling away, a flash of bright color catches her eye. “What’s that?” She takes a step toward the tree line, but Dean grips her elbow. Patting his hand, she smiles. “It’s alright. It looks like a diaper bag.”
After a meltdown in the store, where, again, Dean is the only one able to quiet the infant, they make it safely back to the hotel room without further incident. While Nic gets a squirmy Kara into a clean diaper and a footed onesie they found in her bag, Dean calls Jody to ask for help identifying the child and hopefully finding her parents.
“Yeah, we did all the tests. Seems to be a normal kid. Doesn’t appear to have any injuries either.” Dean paces the room, listening to Jody reiterate all the scenarios he’s already run through. “I know. I already went through all of that with her, but you know why she wouldn’t leave the kid with CPS, especially this time of year.”
Stopping at the window, he stares into the starry darkness beyond his reflection, “No, no last name. The only thing written on the back was ‘Nana and Kara - 5 months’. It’s a close-up, can’t see much of the room. Nothing to indicate where they live. I’ll send ya a copy of the photo.” A series of tiny cries echo from the bedroom along with a frustrated ‘Seriously?’ and Dean chuckles. “Listen, Jody, I gotta go. Thanks for helping. We’ll call you in the morning.”
Dean enters the bedroom to find the faces of both female occupants adorably scrunched—one in fitful unhappiness, the other in dejected exasperation. “Why doesn’t she like me?” Nic pouts as Dean steps up behind her. She tosses aside the stuffed reindeer she’d been trying to engage the little girl with.
“Aww, she’s just scared and probably tired.” Dean reaches around her to lightly tickle Kara’s belly. “Aren’t you, sweetie.” As soon as the words leave his mouth, tiny eyes pop open, and the crying morphs into a soft cooing.
Nic throws her hands in the air with a grunt. “Oh, for Pete’s sake. It doesn’t matter how old they are.” Pointing a finger at the little girl, she teases, “He’s mine, missy. Don’t get any ideas.”
Kara blinks at Nic and then grips one of Dean’s fingers in her tiny hand, kicking her legs with a happy gurgle.
“Oh my god!”
Dean laughs, wrapping an arm around Nic as he kisses the top of her head. “Don’t worry, gorgeous, you’re still my number one.”
“Hmph.” Nic pushes against his chest. “Maybe we should run some more tests on her. Make sure she’s not some ancient deity or something posing as a baby.”
Smiling, when Nic narrows her eyes at Kara, he attempts to allay her doubts. “We’ve done every test we could with what we have. Pretty sure she’s human.”
“Yeah, well, you can put her to bed. I’ll clean up.”
Carefully lifting the little girl to his shoulder, he gently bounces, patting her back, and whispers, “You’re going to be good, right? No more fussing?” Humming, he makes his way over to the portable playpen they bought, rocking in place for a moment.
She looks to be already half asleep when he lays her down, so he continues to hum until her eyes fall closed, a tiny fist pressed to her mouth. As he turns, he sees Nic exit the room and follows her, grabbing the baby monitor before closing the door behind him.
Nic’s standing at the window, the tenseness in her shoulders telling him all he needs to know. Hearing her sniff as he draws closer, he turns her to face him. The tears he knew would be there stream down her face. Pulling her into a tight hug, he tries to reassure her. “Don’t worry, honey, we’ll do everything we can to find her family.”
Tumblr media
Dean wakes to a whimper from the area of the sleeping baby and an empty spot next to him. As he quickly sits up, Nic exits the bathroom in a simple but expensive-looking suit and heels he’s never seen before. Confused, he looks around the room, catching the time on the clock—9 am.
They’d gotten up twice during the night with Kara, once to change her diaper and once to feed her. The last one had taken some time to get her back to sleep, but they finally got her settled around seven. He’s not familiar with a baby’s sleep schedule, but he feels like it’s kind of late in the morning for her to still be sleeping. Although, the poor kid’s probably exhausted from her recent adventure.
“Wha-” he grunts, running a hand through his hair. The baby stirs, and Nic shushes him. Glancing over to Kara and finding her still asleep, he slips from the bed and meets Nic in the other room.
“Hey, sleepyhead,” she greets with a kiss.
Eyes drifting to her open laptop on the narrow island dividing the small kitchen from the living room, he sees a notebook with the visible pages covered in her handwriting lying beside it and shakes his head. “You didn’t go back to sleep.”
“No.”
“What’s going on?”
“I did a little research of my own and then called Jody. I found an Amber Alert associated with a carjacking in Utah. She had, too, but was still concerned there might be something supernatural related and was looking into that further before calling. We discussed options, and after comparing the picture we have to the missing Utah child's photo, we’re pretty sure it’s Kara. Since they’re infants, it’s hard to tell.
Slipping her phone into a skirt pocket, she smiles. “Can’t believe I found a skirt this slim with pockets.” She does a little twirl and asks, “How do I look?”
Dean rakes his eyes over her form, giving her an appreciative grin as she continues. “There’s no mention in the missing person’s report of a birthmark like the one we found on Kara’s leg. They might be holding that back for identification purposes, though. Jody suggested I go to the Sheriff’s office instead of the police department. Figured they might be a little easier to deal with. She offered to call ahead, but since she doesn’t have any contacts there, we decided it would be best I go in cold.”
“Whoa, whoa.” Scrubbing a hand down his face, he shakes his head and blinks, now focusing fully on what she’s saying rather than the form-fitting outfit he’d like to peel from her shapely figure. “I’m going. Where’d you get that suit anyway?”
“No. I am.” Pulling her Fed badge from her bag, she tucks it into the inside jacket pocket. “You are staying with Kara. And I got it from the boutique downstairs.”
“You can’t leave me with a baby?”
“Why not? You took care of a shifter baby. You’re great with kids.” She gives him a teasing smile and pats him on the chest. “Besides, she likes you better.”
Gripping her wrist, he holds her in place. “Nope. I’m going.”
“Look, for whatever reason, she is obviously uncomfortable with me. Are you going to put both of us through what will surely be a stressful situation if left together?”
He knows she’s right, but he still doesn’t like it. Nic runs her free hand down his arm, capturing his hand in hers as she steps closer. Her eyes plead with him as he stares her down. When her lips slip into a little pout, he shakes his head, and she chuckles, knowing she’s won.
“Fine,” he grumbles, letting go of her wrist. “Just make it quick.”
“Love you.”
“Yeah, whatever,” he gripes but leans in for a kiss. “Love you, too,” he grins as he lets her go.
“Oh,” reaching for the door handle, she stops, turning to look back at him, “I ordered you breakfast.” With a final smile and a wink, she leaves him alone with a now awake and, once again, crying baby.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, Nic returns to find Dean sleeping on the couch with Kara lying on his chest, one hand cradling the back of her head and the other supporting her bottom. Quickly taking out her phone, she snaps a picture just before his eyes blink open.
Kicking off her shoes and tossing her jacket in the chair, she kneels beside them, whispering, “She’s in my spot.”
Dean glances down at Kara and then back to Nic with a smirk. “You’re jealous of a baby?” he whispers back. Nic pinches his arm, making him grunt and wake Kara. “See what you did.”
The little girl whimpers but remains calm as he sits up. Following suit as Nic stands, he hands the baby to her, laughing at their equally shocked expressions. “I need to pee. I’ll be right back.”
Kara immediately begins to fuss, and Nic sighs. “Listen, I know now why you don’t like me, but still, can’t you cut me a break?”
Not wanting to cause her more agitation, Nic places her on the play mat and slips on the cute little rattle socks they found at the store. Dean must have had them on her earlier. A couple of the other stimulus toys and the stuffed reindeer they’d gotten her are also lying on the mat. Nic smiles wistfully, wishing she could have seen him interact with the 5-month-old. Maybe she’ll get a chance before Kara’s parents arrive.
“Did you say you know why she doesn’t like you?” Running a hand over her hair, he sits beside her on the floor.
Dean reaches over to gently wiggle Kara’s foot, eliciting a rattling noise. A happy chirp escapes the infant with a flailing of limbs before grabbing one of her feet in each of her hands. Nic retrieves her phone from the table, and after pulling up a video clip, she hands it to Dean. Leaning against his shoulder, she watches with him.
“Is this the carjacking?”
“Yeah. There was a CCTV cam at the intersection.”
“Damn, that’s brutal.” The video had reached the point where the father was fighting with the male assailant and trying to get to Kara. “What’s this have to do with you, though?”
“Keep watching.”
“Son of a-” Dean stops himself and quickly glances at Kara.
Despite the situation, Nic can’t help but smile, “She’s too young to understand your potty mouth, Dean.”
“Still.”
Nic squeezes his arm and chuckles at his concern over Kara being corrupted by his cursing.
“Whatever,” he mutters. Looking back to the video, he rewinds it a bit before pausing on what he’d just seen. “Who is that?”
“The female assailant.”
He enlarges the screen and squints at the image. “Whoa, from a distance, she looks like you.”
“Exactly.” Nic looks at Kara, watching as she rolls onto her belly and bats at the wobbler toy nearby. “Caused a bit of a stir at the station after I asked about the case, and they pulled up the file and footage. Thankfully, Garth was home to vouch for my credentials.”
“So now what?”
“Her parents, Daniel and Emily Carter, were contacted, and they’re headed here. To Tucson. Once they arrive, they’ll be interviewed and put through a verification process, then an officer and a CPS Specialist will bring them here to pick Kara up.”
“Here?” Dean gently grips Kara’s chubby thighs, slides her back to the center of the mat she’s nearly rolled herself off of and sets the toys back within her reach. “Why aren’t we taking her to them?”
“Well, since I am a ‘Federal Agent’ on vacation with my ‘husband’. The CPS Specialist agreed it would be less disruptive if she stayed with us for a few more hours. Also, there’s little chance of dealing with the press here versus a more public venue.”
“Smart thinking.” He smiles, squeezing her hand. “Husband, huh?” His gaze turns to Kara, his smile dropping sightly. “When will they be here?”
Nic grips his wrist, turning it to view his watch. “They land in an hour, interview and verification; the drive here won’t take long. I’d say three and a half hours, give or take.”
Dean hums, bobbing his head as he watches the little girl play. He lightly trails a finger over her tiny hand, which she immediately opens to wrap her fingers around. Nic smiles at the gesture. “You getting attached, Winchester?”
“Huh?” His thumb absently strokes Kara’s wrist while she holds tight to his finger, babbling as she stares up at him.
“Dean?” Nic nudges his arm with her shoulder and he pulls his hand back.
“Oh, uh, what?”
“You’re going to miss her, aren’t you.”
“Phfft. No.”
“Yeah, right.” Nic grins at his adorably flustered face. “Come on.” She stands holding out her hand. “It’s about time for her to eat. And I’m starving. Let’s order dinner and get her fed.”
Tumblr media
“You switched your ring to your left hand?” She asks as she rearranges the pitcher of holy water and empty drinking glasses on the tray …again.
“Yes.” Mumbling, “for the fifth time.”
Nic stops what she’s doing and sighs. “I’m sorry. I know we don’t have any reason to think so, but I would just feel better if I knew they aren’t secretly demons or some other monster pretending to be her parents.”
“Hey,” walking over, he pulls her into a hug, “I agree. That’s why we made the plan.”
Dean is now wearing the sigil-detailed iron and silver ring she’d gifted him on his 40th birthday as a ‘wedding’ ring. It made the ring’s discrete usefulness during a handshake a little inconvenient, but Dean assured her he’d manage. Nic is wearing her matching ‘wedding’ ring and bracelet. Between them and the holy water, they were confident they’d be able to test everyone in the group.
Now, she can’t help the rising nerves and hopes, with all her heart, that they will be able to safely return Kara to her family. Basking in the reassuring warmth of his embrace, Nic startles when there’s a knock on the door. With a deep breath, she steps back and smooths down her dress.
His warm hand grips her upper arm, “Ready?” and softly squeezes when she nods.
As it turns out, the Carters are so grateful for them finding their daughter and taking care of her that they each hug Dean and Nic, making it easy for the warded jewelry to make contact with their skin in the process. During the flurry, Nic is able to brush her bracelet against the CPS Specialist’s arm.
The holy water and the officer prove to be the sticking point. There hasn’t been an opportunity to shake his hand or make contact, and no one is interested in the water as the conversation falls to reuniting the family.
After placing the tray on the table next to where the officer is standing, Nic pretends to stub her toe and stumble as she turns. In the process, she grips the officer’s forearm for balance, pressing her ring against his flesh, and fake coughs ‘Cristo’ just loud enough for everyone to hear. With no hint of black eyes or anything smoking out, Nic apologizes to the officer as Dean gives her an admiring nod before offering to get Kara.
Forty minutes later—after a river of joyful tears had been shed and another flurry of hugs and heartfelt thanks—the room is eerily silent as the couple sits on the couch holding hands.
Dean’s phone vibrating on the table breaches the stillness. Showing her the caller ID, he grunts, “We forgot to call her,” and answers with a cheerful, “Hey, Jody.”
Nic closes her eyes, tuning out the one-sided conversation as she reflects on the past 24 hours. Soft, plush lips pressed to her temple bring her back to the moment.
“Good news,” he whispers.
“More?” she murmurs, keeping her eyes closed, enjoying the sensation of his thumb caressing the side of her hand.
“Yeah. While everyone here was celebrating, the dickbags were being cuffed and shipped off to County in Colorado Springs. I hope they drop the soap!”
Nic’s eyes snap open to a gleaming smile that she can’t help but return. “No way! That’s awesome.” Shaking her head, she stares at him in wonderment. “You can’t tell me that all of this wasn’t a holiday miracle.”
“Whaddya mean?”
“All the ways it could have gone wrong, the horrible things that could have happened to that adorable little girl. They could have left her anywhere, yet we were in the right place at the right time.” Nic lets go of his hand, draping her arms over his shoulders as she crawls over him to straddle his lap. “The douchebags that hurt that family will be brought to justice. And nothing supernatural involved? That in itself is a miracle.”
Dean nods. “Alright, I’ll give you that.”
Nic grins and falls into him for a hug, her eyes meeting the row of bags filled with baby supplies. “What are we going to do with all this stuff?”
The Carters were thankful for the extra diapers and formula but declined the other items, saying they already had plenty at home. They at least took the stuffed reindeer, saying it would be a wonderful reminder of the people who saved her life.
“I told you not to buy so much.”
Sitting up to face him again, she gives him a stern look. “I seem to recall that you were the one that went and got a second cart to put stuff in.”
“Well, we weren’t sure how long we would need to take care of her,” he tries to defend.
“Hmph.” Kissing his forehead, she wiggles in his lap. “C’mon. I’m exhausted. Let’s go to bed. We can figure it out in the morning.”
“Why don’t we pack it up and have it shipped back home?” he tosses out like he’s asking her what she wants for breakfast.
Strong fingers grip her waist as she leans back, shocked and a little more than curious to read his demeanor. A gleam of—hopefulness?— is quickly replaced with wariness when she catches his gaze. Sometimes, she hates that she knows him so well to know what he’s thinking. Yet, there are still times of uncertainty. Times where she has to carefully peel back the layers to discover what’s truly churning in that clever, complex mind of his. Arching a brow, she asks, “D- do you want to have a baby?”
“Do you want to have a baby?” he quickly deflects.
“I asked first.”
Fingertips curl into the fabric of her dress, and his thigh muscles tense, but the corner of his mouth curves upward. “Well, technically-”
Knowing he’s going for a joke, she crosses her arms over her chest, “Dean.”
The smirk fades. “I, uh, I don’t know.” He gives her a sheepish shrug. “It was never an option before. But now ” Tucking his chin, his voice fades.
Nic’s thoughts reel with his revelation. He shifts on the cushion, and she knows he’s getting ready to try and blow it off. Gripping his chin, she brings his head up, holding it until he looks at her. “We’ll ship it home, but let’s shelve the conversation. We still have a road trip to finish, but when we get back, we’ll talk about it.”
“Yeah?”
“Yes.” The tip of his tongue peaks between his teeth with a cheeky grin, and this time, she’s certain that hope brightens his eyes. “Now can we go to bed?” Wrapping her hands around the back of his neck, she winks. “Nothing to stop us from ‘practicing’ in the meantime.”
Dean chuckles, “Thought you were tired.”
“Suddenly got a second wind.”
He scoots forward on the cushion, shifting his hands to grip her ass and pull her closer. “Well, hang on, gorgeous.”
“Always, handsome.” Nic locks her fingers together at his nape as he stands, squealing when he practically sprints to the bedroom.
