okay so i got an isat au idea

full game spoilers under the cut!

truthfully i got the name and then the idea.

SO! in stars and time - danse macabre au

in this au, the wish to destroy the island was made by death itself. after wishcraft was used too widely to cheat death. to work around the rules of the universe.

death is then infuriated by the king, preventing things from living out their lives, and preventing their deaths, their return to the cycle. and it is even more infuriated by the loops. siffrin is visited several times by death, but each time it tries to reap them he loops back just before it hits.

act 5 and 6 go as usual, up to the point where odile prevents siffrin from looping.

death strikes.

siffrin survives the hit, but then the family is tasked with defeating death itself. meanwhile the universe itself is breaking, as the two wishes clash.

eventually, it manages to convince odile. the price is heavy, but it is necessary. the bright one must die.

once siffrin falls, death leaves. they give the family time to mourn, to say goodbye to siffrin. it may not be kind, but it is not cruel, either. now that the loop has been broken, their wounds will take them.

death reaps the king, in the meantime, and visit loop. they agree to let loop live, for now. Technically they aren't from this world, anyway, and they could give siffrin his last rites. it will come for them in time, as all things, but they have time.

this au is inspired in large part by @samhainian s' nohats au.

originally this was a very long ramble but i lost it in the process of writing this so... we'll see if you'll get it or not :3

When I first got into kpop it was so amazing, interesting, different and new to me. I was surprised and really excited to know more, than one day I was watching a Blackpink mv (I am an Army) and was going through comments section and saw many stans fighting with each on whose idol is better. And that day I realised that apparently there's a huge strife between Armys and Blinks. I didn't get why. I didn't understand the concept of putting one artist down to appreciate another. Why am saying all this? Today after I read about Sulli, I was broken. We all can easily blame their labels and their management but what we will not see is ourselves. Why do we have to spread hate? Why do we feel such a need to start a fight and degrade each other? Why do these fanwars exit? These fanwars don't do anything but insult the artists in question. They say numerous hateful things about the artist. Be it anyone, BTS, Blackpink, EXO, Shinee, (G) IDLE, Sunime, Chungha and so so many others. I am not saying that people wouldn't criticise them. Of course they will but what we as Kpop fans usually do is insult them, hate them because? There's no because. There's no reason for this hate. The kind of environment kpop fans have made is so toxic and it's sometimes hard to remember that you joined it because of love. This hate not only spreads through the fans but also seeps into the lives of the artist and slowly eats them alive. How much hate can one take? It's not just the labels, Bighit is known to be a great company, but still BTS went through really dark times. Who do we blame it to now? Of course it was the hate that surrounded them. Surely, these companies should take care of their in a better way. But so shall we. We should be considerate of their feelings and what might happen if they see what has been said. Before artists, idols, celebrities, they are humans. And they feel the same things as we do. Let's just consider how many lives are at stake when we post our next, tweet, comment, joke or whatever. Let's just start focusing on loving artists and respecting them and everyone else.

Been having thoughts about ISAT’s ending for a while now. The ending is extremely swell and I love it a lot, but I’ve been haunted by a flash assumption I had late in Act 5

!!! SPOILERS FOR ACT 5 AND BEYOND !!!

Between the resolution with The King and up until the final fight, I had assumed Siffrin was going to die? This would have been extremely cruel thematically but I’ve seen enough of these sorts of things that I wasn’t going to be shocked if it had happened. It didn’t, obviously, and the ending we got was wonderful, and I’m very happy that everyone made it out okay… but I’ve been rolling around the idea of Sif dying in my head. 

I don’t feel like it would be thematically incoherent? Thematically cruel, absolutely, but not completely out of line. 

Hear me out: The King is defeated, Vaugarde is saved, and Siffrin is now too sick and burnt out to continue. Vaugarde’s wish has been granted, and Siffrin, unable to go on, has to accept their own death, a real one this time, with no looping back. 

Siffrin not wanting everyone to leave can be granted, in a cruel, twisted way. They will never have to be left behind by their family, never have to say goodbye, since they can spend their final moments surrounded by them. The House’s balcony would provide an ample location as well, with The Island being visible just on the horizon. Siffrin can die, having completed their goal, surrounded by their family, seeing their homeland for one last time, and rest easy knowing that they were loved.

It would be a tragic end, but still an ending.

And wouldn’t this be exactly what Loop wanted?

King is dead, or at least dead enough. Country is saved, loops are over, and that weird clone copy debacle wrapped itself up nicely. The party can stick close to each other since they have a body to deal with, and Loop gets to have their family back. Everyone is alive, a Siffrin is alive. Everything is as it should be.

Loop Wins.

Usually I'd let things speak for themselves and keep my chattering in the tags, but I'll ramble about my context thoughts...

So. First of all here's a link (x) to the Nohats Origin Post for those coming in and going ????.

Anyway. These doodles are not in any obvious chronological order, though Loop going from pilfered bandolier (my headcanon for how Siffrin has all those pockets) -> custom outfit made by Isabeau, is supposed to generally denote 'just after the ending' -> 'a few months down the line'.

And speaking of, Design & Characterisation notes:

Overall: NoHats is suppooooosed to have the range to not just be ULTIMATE MISERY ALL THE TIME (but if you're a major whump/angst fan. go fucking nuts.) so these are supposed to be. The steps toward overcoming and living with grief but. The Misery Is Kind Of The Punchiest Part.... Oops....

Mirabelle: Taking the lead, continuing to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. In the game proper she's already shown to, while yes, be emotionally fragile at times, be prone to trying to hold the team together. I feel she'd do the same here. It also would help that she'd presumably be medicated again? But I can't imagine her chosen-one anxieities would be super ailed by the death of her friend. I wanted to try and give her more differences? She follows the change belief after all and is thus liable to switch up her style in general... But I didn't have a strong vision for this, so. The ball is in anyone's court. Her design changes here are keeping one of Sif's safety pins a la qpr bonding earring, and has the bell pendant at Loop's (oddly pushy) suggestion.

Isabeau: Taking it. Badly. Depression mullet and beard in tow. However, you best believe he is trying real badly to hide it. Loop very much does not reveal their identity to him because What The Fuck Would That Even Do. That's Scary. but they do try to comfort him while mentally regarding him "off limits". Backs themselves into some very unfortunate corners by alluding to their unfulfilled relationship with their Fighter as a point of common ground. I don't imagine this would go super great when recontextualised later after Loop is inevitably found out. Just in general oh good god what the fuck. this is like a radioactive pit of survivor's guilt.

Bonnie: Taking it probably The Worst. This is a child. Who was already feeling guilt. This is who everyone else is trying to keep it together for. Mirabelle and Isabeau would likely be putting up far less of a front without Bonnie around. They take the hat and take on Pocket Duty. They also have slightly more sif-y hairstyle but... Don't worry about it. They'd have Nille to fall back on once she's picked back up, and Loop almost certainly attempts to redouble efforts on making them feel better but seeing as how closed-off Bonnie can already be, it'd likely be difficult. However they would probably take Loop's identity reveal best...?

Odile: Odile's design.... ! Does not seem to have changed? How odd! Well. I'm sure she's dealing with things in a regular and non-cloistered manner. I already think that a regular Postcanon Activity for Odile could be her finding out about the potential for sif/loop to translate books and thus Knowledge in their native tongue assuming that ability sticks around postgame. Something something culture can never truly be wiped out etc etc. But putting it in this context. Makes it more desperate, more of a deflection for something else.

Loop: Helpful Loop. Well. They win! I feel like the entirety of ISAT being about Siffrin's mental state means I don't need to spill much ink here? You get it I think. I can't outdo the source material man. Anyway I imagine Loop is given clothes by Isabeau before they know who they are, but after they've become genuine friends. The outfit is in genuineness, on both sides from Loop and Isa, in having the cloak be a nod in respect to Siffrin, since Loop's "shared culture" would have to come up vis a vis cultural funerary traditions. Hard to avoid divulging that one...

Heute muss ich nicht viel kommentieren zu #dasetwasanderewahlplakat. Die #Geisterjäger, die heute symbolisch die Geister aus vergangenen und sehr schlimmen Zeiten „verjagen“ sollen. Am gestrigen Samstag, war ich zum einen traurig darüber, dass Esther Bejarano verstarb. Sie war eine deutsche jüdische Überlebende des KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau. Später engagierte sie sich in der Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes – Bund der Antifaschistinnen und Antifaschisten. Eine Zeitzeugin, die einfach fehlen wird. Und zum anderen, am gestrigen Tag, wurde an den Wahlinfoständen meine Mitbewerberin @tjorvenmaack von der NPD versucht einzuschüchtern. Eine Sache, die leider immer wieder passiert, wenn man für eine offene und tolerante Gesellschaft eintritt. Ich möchte danke dafür sagen, dass es über alle Fraktionen hinweg Solidarisierungsbekundungen mit Tjorven gab und ich möchte euch auch bitten ihren Beitrag zu dem Thema zu lesen. Es ist schön zu sehen, dass wir zusammen stehen, wenn es um Menschen geht, die für unsere offene Gesellschaft einstehen. Unsere geliebte Demokratie wird diese ewiggestrigen aushalten - aber es ist nicht mehr hinnehmbar was passiert unter dem Deckmantel der Meinungsfreiheit.
