HEAR ME OUT Jester’s were not just entertainers, they also often advised the king, were in charge of delivering bad news, and even followed armies into battle and acted as messenger on the field.  They had immunity to insult or mock royalty and didn’t even always have to wear a funny outfit. Sometimes they just wore regular clothes! Not gonna lie, a lot of what they did, sounds a lot like what Merlin was already doing in the show, so if there was a magic reveal and Arthur gave Merlin a position in the court, a Jester would honestly be ideal and would definitely be a fun dynamic that could start out as a joke but turn into something Merlin takes honor in instead of being sheepish about
