Naruto knows when Itachi is due back from his mission because, as always, she’s spent years sneaking into her father’s office and going through his paperwork. She’s still split on whether he genuinely hasn’t noticed (unlikely) or is just letting her snoop on highly classified files (also unlikely) but as long as she keeps being able to get past his seals, she’s going to take advantage of it.
Itachi doesn’t even have the decency to act surprised to see her sitting on his kitchen table and eating his chips. Probably because he sensed her from a literal mile away, but still. “Hello Naruto,” he says, dropping his pack on the floor and heading straight to his fridge for the disgusting weird protein health drinks he gets from the Inuzukas.
Tsume forces those on them semi-regularly and they taste like dirt. She doesn’t understand how Itachi drinks them willingly. “I need a favor.”
“Okay,” he says, tilting his head back and chugging.
She frowns. “It’s a big favor. You’re not going to like it.”
He finishes the bottle and throws it into the trash across the room without looking. “Okay.”
She throws up her hands. “Seriously? Are you really planning on letting me cash in on helping expose Madara for the rest of your life?”
“Yes,” he says.
Unbelievable. She balls up the bag of chips and throws it at his head. He lets it bounce off and fall to the ground.
He does shit like this because he knows it pisses her off. She’s sure of it.

Shikamaru like Naruto well enough, but tends to tune her out a lot of the time, because she’s very loud and high energy and likes to do things that end up getting everyone in trouble except her. It’s not even like she’s using the fact that she’s the hokage’s daughter to get out of it – she’s just that much better at outrunning Anbu than they are.
There’s a joke in there about her avoiding Kakakshi, but since he values his limbs and also his quiet, he never makes it.
When Naruto’s quiet, that’s when they need to worry. Naruto was really quiet around the time she unearthed the almost rebellion of the Uchiha that he’s supposed to know nothing about. She’s quiet now too, blue eyes dark and voice low as she tells them what the first two sections of the chunin exam are going to be like and that they have to be careful.
“Why are you so worried about this?” Ino asks.
Naruto trades a glance with Sasuke then, surprisingly, Sakura. Shikamaru hadn’t been sure those two could untangle from each other enough to make room from the girl from a civilian family, but it doesn’t seemed to have tripped them up too badly. “It’s need to know. For now.”
Considering all the things Naruto talks about loudly and unrepentantly, that’s very, very concerning.
“You’re telling the others this?” Chouji asks.
Sakura nods. “We’ll be waiting in the forest. We won’t go to the tower until you’re all there.”
It sounds arrogant said like that, but Sasuke’s a prodigy in his own right, and the only reason he hadn’t graduated early was because he and Naruto had wanted to be on the same team together.
The reason Naruto hadn’t graduated early was partially due to sabotage – man, had their teacher before Iruka hated her – but also because she refused to correct them, to complain, to make a big deal out of her abilities.
Naruto plays things closer to her chest than even he does.
So if she’s being this transparent and upfront, they better listen.

You're on the beach. It's too hot. You wish you had anything cold to eat or drink but the only vending cart you see is close to an outdoor gym on the beach. You slowly walks toward in search of ice cream because the heat drained your energy. As you get closer you smell a strong and unpleasant odor in the air "must be sweat" you thought, but you had to face it to refresh yourself. When you arrived there you heard the men working out were oddly burping frequently, but you would face anything to overcome the heat. You finally asked the vendor: "Is there ice cream yet?"
"No. I don't sell ice cream. They're protein shakes. For the gym..." — He looked at your tired state — "It's a cold drink though."
You desperately gave him your money and grabbed the first cup you saw, quickly slurp drinking from the straw you felt a bitter but deliciously cold liquid refreshing you. You let out a big burp in satisfaction.
The heat was so bad that you felt some kind of itch in your body. You looked down to scratch your belly but saw and felt a six pack. You got shocked and stopped drinking and burped as you let off the straw. "What the..." you muttered. But you felt too heated and started drinking again. To your surprise, your biceps and thighs were growing as you drank the shake.
You realized the drink made you grow... you got all the money you had with you and gave it to the vendor. You say "Give me five of—ooOOUUUUURRRP — them." You desperately started slurping. Your whole body was bulging with muscle that didn't stop growing. BUUUURP. Your pecs got thicker than an average book. BUUURRP. Your biceps were bowling ball sized. BUUUURRP. Your calves were so big and your thighs got so thick they started ripping the lower part of your shorts. BUUURRRRRP. You felt a pungent smell coming from your pits. You suddenly felt an urge to work out in the gym.
You worked out till the sunset and never stopped burping and sweating even after that.

bokuto is hangry and it's entirely his fault.
first, he snoozed his alarm once too many times this morning. second, he forgot to pack his gym bag the night before, so he had to scramble for his clothes and kneepads. third, he ran out of his apartment without the bento box on the dining table and his jacket on the chair.
whenever this happens, he'd run to the convenience store just outside the gym, but there's no time today since the team has a photoshoot for the upcoming season in the afternoon. he can grab a spare team jacket from the closet, but lunch? meian told them repeatedly to be prepared, and all bokuto has are a few protein bars in his locker.
maybe he can sneak a few bites from the others. hinata is always willing to share but the rest guard their food with a ferocity usually reserved for the court, or at the bar. well, maybe if he can distract atsumu then he could sneak a few bites...
just thinking about it makes him hungrier. bokuto slams his hand against the ball, watches his serve drive into the net and falls with a bounce. he groans, hands in his hair. hinata tosses him another. "don't mind, bokuto-san!"
"something on your mind, bokuto?" meian calls out from the sidelines. "that's your third missed serve today." his tone is sharp, and for a moment, he feels like he's back in high school, berated by akaashi, who always seems to keep track of his misses.
"sorry, captain. i forgot to pack lunch, and it's been bothering me." as the words leave him, he feels his stomach grumble. a banana for breakfast is definitely not enough before practice.
meian frowns, a lecture at the tip of his tongue before he swallows it. "well, no point for you to keep practicing if you don't have the energy. go get something to eat at the convenience store."
"i'll be okay!" bokuto insists. "i have some snacks and stuff in my locker-"
"not hearing it. we have a long day and if you're hangry, it'll ruin the mood. don't tell me you forgot your wallet too."
"uh."
hinata bounces to his side. "i made extra food today, bokuto-san! i don't mind sharing."
"hinata," bokuto says with a dramatic pout, "when did you become so reliable?"
"it's just you that isn't," sakusa deadpans from the other side of the court. atsumu barks a laugh.
meian just shakes his head. "either way, you need food. i'll give you fifteen minutes to run out and get something, or else-"
"i can help with that."
the voice is shy yet firm. bokuto raises his head, grin widening at the figure standing at the gym's doorway. "keiji!"
his boyfriend gives a timid wave, other hand holding the familiar bento cloth with an owl pattern. bokuto jogs over to greet him. "i thought you wouldn't be here until tonight!"
"i wanted to surprise you by having dinner ready when you get home,” akaashi explains, “but when i stopped by the apartment, i saw you left your bento and jacket. i thought you might need them.”
that's when bokuto really looks at him, notices his jacket hanging on akaashi's shoulders, sleeves bunched up at his wrists. this isn't the first time he'd worn it, but every time he does, bokuto gets overwhelmed by a flood of affection. "keiji, you're the best!"
"hi, akaashi-san!" hinata and the others gather, accustomed to akaashi's regular appearances. "you really saved bokuto-san!"
"yes, i know he can get irritable when he's hungry, so i packed extra snacks." akaashi holds the bento up to him, then shrugs the jacket off for him. he pivots, about to leave. "i'll see you tonight, kou."
"thanks, babe. love you." bokuto steps forward and leans over to kiss his cheek, grinning at how akaashi blushes. behind him, he hears atsumu pretend to gag.
as he waves at akaashi, he hears meian behind him. “bokuto.” his captain’s normally severe expression is soft, as it always is, whenever one of their significant others come to visit. “you better treat your man to something nice later.”
bokuto unwraps the cloth, sees several small packs of crackers and energy jelly, along with a handwritten note. good luck. i love you. "always, captain," he says with a smile. "always."

seokmin and mingyu's new years resolution was to get ripped. they were both already quite toned, the beginnings of biceps and abs already there, but they wanted to get undeniably shredded.
"I think we should do bulking and shredding," Mingyu says on the second of January. "It's where you start by lifting weights and gaining muscle, but also eating a lot. And then after a month or so, you cut down how much you eat so when you lose the weight, you're just left with the muscles."
"Oh," Seokmin says. "That actually sounds quite easy. And I love to eat, so I'm in."
They start immediately. Mingyu stocks up on healthy things like protein powder and vegetables so they have energy to burn at the gym, but also buys fattening things like ice cream and cakes and chocolates.
"If we're going to put on weight, we're going to do it in a fun way," he says.
The diet is successful, and Mingyu and Seokmin enjoy eating as much as they want without any shame. When they go to bed packed full and bloated, they say that it's more energy to use at the gym the next day. And they like that they can do this together. Going to the gym, cooking and eating together gives them more time to spend as a couple.
Their gym goals go well too. Both of them gain muscle in their arms, shoulders and legs, and the amount of weight they are able to lift gets higher and higher.
After just one month, Seokmin can see the added definition in Mingyu's arms. And he can also see the little pot belly that Mingyu has developed. Mingyu has an affinity for wearing tight tank tops, so it's always on display. Seokmin thinks it's so sexy.
Seokmin, on the other hand, is softer. He's also gained muscle, but he's also gained a soft layer of fat on top of it. Mingyu cuddles him a lot more these days; he wonders if it's connected.
Seokmin likes seeing Mingyu eat so well. He always looks so happy after a meal and the way he strokes his fully belly makes Seokmin crazy.
So, naturally, Seokmin decides to help him out.
He makes him heavy milkshakes for dessert every night, not mentioning that he's making them with heavy cream instead of regular milk. And when he serves Mingyu a plate of food, he piles it higher than usual, knowing that Mingyu will eat it all.
They both pack on the pounds quickly, Seokmin not realising that Mingyu is doing the exact same thing to him. He brings home baking from work almost every day for Seokmin to eat, and insists on Seokmin going to a local burger place after almost every gym session.
After another month of this, Mingyu brings up the idea of cutting.
"Do you think we should start cutting now?" he asks as they wash their faces in the bathroom sink before bed.
"It's going to be hard, after getting used to eating so much," Seokmin says.
"It will be." Mingyu sighs. "I like eating like this."
"Me too," Seokmin says. "And you look really good already." He reaches out his hands to trail along the distended slope of Mingyu's belly, which almost looks like a small beach ball now. He admires Mingyu, who's big in multiple ways. Big arms, big chest, big belly. Mingyu shivers under his touch.
"You look amazing too," Mingyu says. He takes one of Seokmin's developing love handles in his hand and shakes it, watching as his belly shakes as well.
Seokmin steps closer so their bellies are pressed against each other. "What if we stay like this then? We're both happy, and we look hot."
"We can get bigger." Mingyu's eyes raking over Seokmin. "I'm liking these," he says while taking on of Seokmin's developing moobs into his hand, brushing his thumb over the nipple. "Wanna see them grow."

Tim: His sketchbook, a set of colored pencils, a half-complete issue of The Adventures of Weatherman, a thrifted Walkman cassette player with “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, a Black Lives Matter patch that he needs to ask Phoebe to stitch to his jean jacket, a Polaroid camera, notes for the next DND session, and a boba tea rewards card.

Since I mentioned earlier that she is most probably a veggie, Mikasa relies on power packed protein bars and shakes for her energy in her active life. She is one of those who wakes up at 5am for a morning jog too. It helps bring her clarity and it supports her mental well-being.

@wheatforme hi you said you wanted to look for more shelf stable foods in the tags on the post about weight gain in disabled people, and while I don't want to derail that post with this I do still want to help out so here's what I learned with the help of my former dietician.
For breakfast, cereal is a fantastic option. You'll get a ton of health nuts slamming breakfast cereals for being unhealthy but that's solely because of the sugar content. Most breakfast cereals on the market are not only cheap, shelf stable and delicious and less likely to trigger eating disorders like ARFID, but they're pretty packed with nutrients. You don't even need the fancy gross nutrition cereals froot loops have vitamins and minerals worked in to make it more nutritious for kids because of us fda regulations.
You can also eat breakfast bars, those are shelf stable and nutritious, but the portion sizes are iffy because you'll consume about twice the recommended portion before reaching satiety. That's not to say you shouldn't go over the recommended portion size, by all means eat until you are satiated, but if you are diabetic or have some other related health issues sticking to the recommended portion size might be better.
For lunch things like cracker bread, rice cakes, saltine crackers, dried fruit, protein bars and cookies are great. They're all shelf stable, you can buy them in bulk (enough for 3 months I'd say) and except for the dried fruit, if you take them out of the package and store them in air tight containers they'll hold.
Dried fruit you should ideally consume in a month tops, because it can still go bad faster than the rest, but it's very important to incorporate fiber and fruit sugars and vitamins into your diet so if fruit go bad in your house or you have arfid and differences in fruit texture triggers it, dried fruit is a fantastic shelf stable way to get those nutrients without things getting in the way.
You could also keep processed fruit juice, which a lot of health nuts will also slam but if you check the label thoroughly and it does contain adequate vitamins and minerals and fiber, it doesn't matter if it has preservatives that's a shelf stable nutrition source. Preservatives aren't evil and they very likely don't cause cancer there's just a small negligible chance that they might.
For dinner my favorite things to keep are frozen microwavable meals. Granted they're not as nutritious as fresh meals but they're still packed with nutrients so they're a good choice. They don't mess with your executive dysfunction because you literally take them out of the box while frozen, stab holes into the plastic top with a fork, put them in the microwave for 6 minutes (or however long the box says) and eat.
I also like to keep instant noodles, and not just ramen though that's pretty good snack-wise and I'll tell you in a bit why, I mean the packets of instant Mac and cheese, or pasta Alfredo, stuff like that. They're probably the least nutritious things in this entire post and they still have proteins, carbs, and calcium from milk. They're great for an energy boost when you haven't eaten in two days because nothing is appetizing and you couldn't get out of bed.
You literally throw it in a bowl, throw in milk, add boiling water and stir. Some of it you have to microwave for a few minutes, other kinds you boil on the stove for a bit, but it's quick and it's easy and it's a perfect boost when you need it.
Snack-wise I keep a huge party pack of chocolates, like pralines or wafer balls. I also keep chocolate spread and peanut butter, and both are fantastic on crackers. For instant ramen I like to get frozen cooked spinach, a big bag, and eggs. The eggs aren't shelf stable but I just use them when I have them. I make the ramen with a chunk of the spinach, and then I boil the egg, cut it up and put it in the ramen. It was the snack that kept me alive in my last year of university. It's got protein, spinach which is like a super food, and carbs. It's great.
Of course I also kept cheese and yogurt but like the eggs they were use when I had them items because my executive dysfunction didn't allow me to go shopping frequently enough to replace them as they ran out.
My real life saver though, quite literally in fact, was ensure nutrition shakes. It may be expensive but a can lasts 3 months if you drink a shake a day, and it's positively loaded with all the nutrients you could possibly need. I preferred the chocolate flavored one, but my brother liked vanilla and my university roommate liked banana.
I don't know what's available where you are, but a nutrition shake is fantastic if you struggle with executive dysfunction or arfid or both like me. You can, within limits, use it as a meal replacement. If I didn't eat for an entire day and didn't have energy to make even instant ramen I made myself a shake. You scoop 6 scoops into a tumbler, add a cup and a half of water, I used milk because I was trying to gain fat, and you shake all your frustrations out. Then you have a great tasting nutritious liquid meal.
Like I said though within limits. Nutrition shakes may have all the nutrients you need, but if you only consume that and not much else you could end up with dehydration, constipation or diarrhea, kidney problems, nausea, and excessive weight gain. One shake a day should be your cut off, and you have to consume something with a lot of fiber and a ton of water so your body can digest it properly.
That's all I have for you, though your preferences will be a lot of trial and error to see what works for you and what doesn't. I hope this helps!
