I was putting a thigh high socks on, not even for cute pictures, but just to wear around around the house, for fun. I bundled up the sock until it was all scrunched in my palms, slipped my toes in, and started the normal up and down motion of moving the fabric up my leg, letting a little bit cling to me with each increment. But something wasn't quite right; it seemed like my calf, my shin, were not stopping. I wasn't really thinking too clearly--the motions and ritual of putting on thigh high socks was a unique sensation, a repetitive ritual that easily put my into a trance-like state until completed. Even though my leg continued to fill the sock, inch by inch, longer and longer still, the knee still not quite in reach, I simply kept doing the motion, up and down, feeling more and more of my leg become covered in soft, white and pink cotton. I'm not sure how long it took to reach the knee, or if I even remember seeing my knee slide into the infinite sock, but at some point, I found myself looping the motion again, this time on the thick flesh of my thigh, the elastic stretching and gently biting as the ritual motion continued. I felt like I was aging, my fingernails and hair growing, the seasons changing around me, still the sock continued to climb my endless legs, but before I ever saw my fingers snap the end of it tight to my thigh, I woke up.
