Canon handled Keith meeting Krolia wrong.

Keith wanted to meet his mother but when he does, he's disappointed. He didn't want a mother figure. He wanted to know where he came from. He lived 19(ish) years without a relationship with his mother. He doesn't need one now.

Krolia doesn't understand why Keith is upset with her but she isn't the one who had to live 8 years of her life watching her father long for a lover who wasn't coming back. Krolia gave Keith trust issues. She promised Texas that she would come back but she never did. If she'd just left, at least he could move on but she said she'd be back.

She doesn't know the pain of the woman who wanted nothing to do with you as a child suddenly expecting to be treated as if she never left. It doesn't matter if she left for a noble cause. It still hurts.

She hurt Keith and his dad. Keith has never seen his dad more emotional than when he's looking at the stars. Texas loved this woman. Keith expected more from her. He wanted to find some possible reason as to why his dad spent years longing for this woman but he was just disappointed.

Keith has always wondered if Krolia staying might've kept his dad alive. Maybe by year 8, he realized that she wasn't coming back and didn't want to raise her son anymore. Maybe if he had Krolia, he would've stayed alive for her. These thoughts haunt him.

The more she tries to act like his mother, the more upset that he gets. She isn't his mother and she never will be.

So yes, he is bitter. He is angry. He snaps at her a lot. He calls her by her first name even after her insisting that he can call her "Mom". He doesn't want his teammates to know she's his mom. He's ashamed of her. He'd rather say he has no mother because in his mind, he has no mother.

Ok but. Au where Keith was more emersed in the canon stuff as a child. Texas helped Krolia write a letter to Keith for him to read when he was old enough so he'd know that his mom didn't just abandon him. It tells him what the knife is for, where she went, why she left, and that he can't ever tell a human what he is or he could be in danger. It also has detailed illustrations because I like to believe Krolia draws.

When Keith was little, Texas would put him to bed with Galra legends and tales of Voltron. Texas also kept all of Krolia's illustrations of things in space. One of those illustrations included a rough map of where the blue lion was.

When Texas died, Keith inherited a box with his knife, the letter, and Krolia's drawings. It was locked but Keith's also a menace and picked the lock at 14. He never told or showed a soul what was in that box.

That was until the night he saved Shiro. Keith was prepared. Nobody else understood what was going on and Keith did not slow down to explain.

I'd also really like to see Keith's face when he learns that the bedtime stories that he was told from about ages 1-6 were true and that Princess Allura is alive.

I love Keith's dad

It's a crime we never got to see more of Keith's dad. But from what we saw. I fucking love that man.

The man found a fucking alien. A tall, purple ass alien that crashed from a fucking space ship. And what was his first instinct?

Take care of her.

He looked to live alone in that house, so he probably had to go shopping for her to find some woman clothing. Like, you know that man had no fucking clue what he was doing and had to ask for help from a female employee

Then, she shows him a gigantic blue ass space cat, that's just chilling in a cave, and oh yeah, there's a intergalactic war going on, and a mad man that wants it, and his soldiers might also come back to earth for it. And what does he do?

He says he wants to help.

They fall in love. He has a child. And like, Krolia couldn't be taken to a hospital obviously, so that man probably had to deliver that baby.

And then he just, has family with her??? Buys the diapers, bottle, crib. And just-thats it. They're a family.

(What was his plan if Keith looked like a Galra btw? Was Krolia just going to be in hiding forever??)

THEN other aliens come to earth and he has to FIGHT ALIENS

THEN his Alien gf has to go back to space and he just carries on and raises their child. Until he dies

Like, I'm not sure how to properly express what I'm trying to say?? But do you know what mean?? Like, he's a fucking legend.
