Yasashii Knight wa, Mou yameru. ~Gokuama Osananajimi no Dokusen Yoku ni Zuppuri Hameraretemasu - By Riku Koucha (8/10)
This is a cute story, but a little bit of realism never hurts. It can be tough to be a pretty, popular saleswoman. There are certain types of expectations and rudeness that you have to deal with in the sales field. Our heroines paranoid boyfriend is somewhat justified. He's overprotective because the love of his life is drowning in work.
Yui is young and successful. She's pretty on top of that, so she has to deal with alot of pressure.
She works for an upscale jewelry company. It is her dream job. She is highly knowledgeable and good at socializing with customers. She is the star saleswoman in her branch. Unfortunately, she has fans. Richer customers who buy from her in order to flirt with her.
It's a huge burden. Sometimes men follow her out of the store. Her best friend Touma picks her up every night to protect her. He helps her relax after she has to deal with a lineup of tough customers. They've been friends forever. They've been in love forever, but they aren't together.
Why?
Yui is very mature. She cannot report the customers who flirt with her. Especially the loyal ones. Basically, it's part of the job. The stress of that has been building up in her.
Yui is the type of person that hides her problems. The harassment she deals with is DRAINING. It's annoying and she can never fight back. Shockingly, the men after her aren't perverts. Most of them are young and they genuinely want to date her...because she's young, successful and beautiful. BUT that's not the point. Unwanted attention is still unwanted and it's wearing her down.
Touma doesn't want to pressure her or ruin their relationship. He has become more possessive over the years, because Yui is closer to him than anyone else. He knows these thoughts are toxic. Walking her home every night is obsessively protective, but she likes it and he enjoys it too.
So, why? Why aren't they together? Well, Yui was bullied in high school. Touma has always been EVEN MORE POPULAR than her. She was the "childhood friend who was in the way". Girls used to gossip about how she was clingy, and the school prince was only friends with her out of pity. She isn't over that yet, and Touma hasn't made a move yet because he doesn't think she's ready for an...intense relationship.
Then, it happens. Touma gets pushed over the edge. They start dating and he tries to keep his cool, but there's some red flags. Then, Yui goes to a work event.
You can feel how disappointed she is. The male employees constantly flirt with her, and she meets the best salesman. His name is Makoto and he...has a point.
Makoto points out the flaws in Yui's relationship. It's weird that Touma doesn't want her to hang out with men. Does that mean she's not allowed to have male friends? That's a slippery slope. Yui...kind of agrees. Touma and Yui communicate. They become a happy couple. The other men that like Yui are real people, who wish for her happiness when she does choose Touma. Touma starts out as a potentially toxic yandere, but he becomes a sweet and soft one that barely fits the definition. They marry without any regrets or doubts.

Spring 2022 Anime Review
Alrighty! This season I actually ended up deciding to watch the majority of the shows that were airing so here’s my run down of the 20+ series for the 2022 Spring anime season! (I will likely never do this again because I 100% burnt out)
Edit - That being said, the last week before the finales aired, I decided to use my time to watch some of the ONA's and holy - they honestly stole the show. Both series I watched were at least 9/10 and blew me away, so I'll be starting with those.
Vampire in the Garden
Spring 2022 ONA - 5 Episodes
I've linked my main review in the title but here's a summary.
This series was absolutely stunning. It was whimsical and upsetting and overall one of the best stories I've experienced in a while.
10/10 - Masterpiece
Spriggan
Spring 2022 ONA - 6 Episodes
This was based off a movie in 1998. I went back and watched it and please don't bother... The concept is amazing but the new series takes that concept and expands on everything the movie was missing. It also covers the same story in episode 2 but makes it significantly better.
Right from episode 1 you can feel the 90s aesthetic build into the world and I absolutely love it.
The story is neat, the style is great and they have a super interesting combination of modern and classic styles of animation.
9.5/10 - Amazing
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
(Posting this before the finale since it's literally the last thing to air)
I think a lot of people went into this series expecting a similar vibe to Dress Up Darling and I think that was the problem.
This show was actually really wholesome. It starts off with a healthy relationship and amazing friend group.
The focus ends up being more on the group as a whole and their interactions rather than just the couple and to be honest, this made the slice of life aspect a lot more believable.
I loved watching the episodes and ended up growing really fond of the whole gang.
8/10 - Very Good
Komi-San Can’t Communicate - Part 2
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
I was pleasantly surprised by this part 2. This is actually just as good as the first part, if not better.
I swear second parts pretty much always fall off, but man am I glad that this was consistent. I really liked Komi san, I don’t think it’s S-tier or anything but I think it’s still really enjoyable.
I love the slow burn romance and I’m overall very satisfied with the rest of this season.
7.5/10 - Good + (Enjoyable)
The Rising of The Shield Hero - Season 2
Spring 2022 - 13 Episodes
This was a show that I was genuinely hyped for when I found out there was going to be a continuation. The first season felt complete and had everything you'd want out of a series, proper character development, story completion and an actual ending. I really felt disappointed by the first 6 episodes of this new season and man was it rough.
It throws you right into a totally different narrative and somehow you're in the middle of a war by episode 3. It really wasn’t until episode 6 or 7 when it started to get back to what was relevant to the first season that it felt the show was even worth watching.
Because of how drastically different the two halves of the season were I’m splitting this into 3 ratings.
Part 1 - (Episodes 1-6) - 4/10 - Bad
Part 2 - (Episodes 7-13) - 7/10
Good Overall - 6/10 Fine
Before getting into the rest of the season here's the links for the top series that are 100% worth checking out:
Spy x Family
Paripi Koumei
Dance Dance Danseur
Additionally, there’s a few that I’d like to add to this list but will be continuing to air into the Summer 2022 season so go check those out: Aoashi & Summer Time Render
Now back to your scheduled programming:
Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu (Mobuseka) Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
I actually found this concept hilarious. I was a little concerned that the initial appeal would wear off but I found that the spite of the character really held his own throughout this story and I ended up enjoying each episode.
7/10 - Good
Skeleton Knight in Another World
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
This has honestly been a refreshingly simple isekai. I love how they didn't try to add any twists or make it exceptionally different. Thought as it comes with the territory, it did feel like it started to trail off near the end and the story ended up being a little plain.
6/10 - Fine
The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody
Quitting Heroing
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes Each
Combining the standard “isekai/fantasy” genre shows. Of course, there had to be a few of these in the season.
Now I’ve seen my share of horrible isekais and standard fantasy anime over the last few season and I’d say 90% of them are tastefully trash, that said, these 2 barely scraped by.
Quitting Heroing was technically something we haven’t seen before and I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the series and the characters.
As for the Greatest Demon Lord, this is a hard copy of Demon King Academy with some obvious alterations to make this ✨unique. It really wasn’t worth watching, everything that was decent in this you can get 5x better in Demon King Academy.
(Especially since season 2 has been announced for that, this one just isn’t worth it.)
Quitting Heroing - 6/10 - Fine
Greatest Demon Lord - 4/10 - Bad
Aharen-San wa Hakarenai
Shachiku-san wa Youjo Yuurei ni Iyasaretai
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes Each
I’m combining these two as they’re incredibly similar in terms of my thoughts on it. They’re both wholesome series.
Regarding Aharen-san, I really hated that they decided to try and take the romantic route.. could’ve just left it how it was and it’d just be a decent wholesome series.
In the end, both of these series were cute but to be honest, really nothing special about them that we haven’t seen before.
Maybe this kind of show just isn’t for me.
5/10 - Average
Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road (The Executioner and Her Way of Life)
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
This was unexpectedly disappointing. The concept was strong and the character design visually looks good but I felt the story ended up being really weak and didn’t really go anywhere.
5/10 - Average
Mahoutsukai Reimeiki - Dawn of the Witch
Spring 2022 - 12 Episodes
Frankly I should’ve just thrown this one in with the other two fantasy ones.
Again, not a new concept, Black clover covers the lack of magic aspect and the outcast witch has also been done before. Ok story, ok animations and ok characters, some of the ecchi in this series made me seriously uncomfortable on top of everything else.
4/10 - Bad
There you have it, the majority of the Spring 2022 anime season.
I have lots to look forward to for the summer but hopefully I'll be able to pick and choose rather than stupidly pushing through all of the mid shows.

More Ossan's Love Returns details
You thought I was done with this show after subbing it??? No! This is a continuation to my earlier post.
The game and tv controllers aren't always in the same place, meaning someone actually uses them.
I love all the random appearances of Kikunosuke's riceballs haha. The Tall size really is tall!
I think this is Kikunosuke's room. He doesn't have much decor, only gym equipment. The framed motto on the wall says 万里一空 banri ikkuu ('ten thousand ri (old japanese unit) one sky'), work towards your goal no matter how long it takes. It was originally coined by the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. It suits Kikunosuke well since he's kept pining for over a decade!
Maki actually keeps studying Chinese throughout the season even though it doesn't come up in conversation. The red book he carries around is his Chinese textbook.
I just realised this reference may not have been clear to everyone, so I'm including it here. In episode five after the ridiculous gay on gay violence Kurosawa takes a kabuki mie pose with his fan as the curtain closes on the antics. The battle is kind of like crazy kabuki play foreshadowed by the sound of shishiodoshi throughout the episode.
Look on the left! They put up their wedding photos!!
I just love this shot.
Chief's get well soon gifts from when he was in the hospital and people thought he was dying. Teppei gave him his cd 完敗 (kanpai, total defeat, pun on 乾杯 kanpai as in cheers). The book is from Maika judging by the title (sexy neighbour) lol. Haruta & Maki went with a more conservative wrapped gift. I don't know who brought the flowers (I think they're kasumisou/gypsophila), but white flowers are generally not recommend for hospital visits because they're associated with buddhist offerings, which I think is part of the joke. In fact, this whole setup looks like an altar of offerings with the flowers and the apples and the riceballs.
Their bowls go together with their matching couple loungewear!!
Izumi started buying a new kind of bread after making peace with Akito's death and gave it to Kikunosuke, what if I cry!! I wonder if he started buying strawberry jam bread for Akito and himself after that strawberry crepe confession episode.
Maki is reading a book in the final spin-off. It's actually the same book he was reading in season one in the episode where he got sick. It's not a real book, but the title is Tokunaga, inu ni nazukeru tte yo ('Tokunaga said he's gonna name the dog', a pun on the book/movie Kirishima, bukatsu yameru tte yo 'Kirishima said he's gonna quit the school club'). Tokunaga is the name of the character Hayashi Kento played on the Netflix series Hanabi. There's a chihuahua on the cover as a nod to Maki being compared to a chihuahua on the show multiple times.

Helllooooooo!! And so it begins, Op4 lyrics time. Thanks as always to @alphardofthealley for scans of the lyrics booklet. <3
This one's a very soft and very cute song for John and Sherlock. I absolutely LOVED the roof scene in the manga, and I believe this song managed to double/triple/quadruple just how soft this scene is. Enjoy!!

Sherlock: Please. What are you saying, John? I’ve always thought highly of you.
John: Really, Sherlock?
I had always been alone
And when you came along, solving mysteries became a lot more fun
I realized how fun it is having a partner on my side
A partner I can work well with, I’m glad that partner is you
Which is why I feel a bit sad knowing that you’re leaving
Still, that’s not enough reason to ask you to stay
If I do (ask you to stay), I’d be “dependent” on you, or maybe I’d be “taking control” of you
I finally understand why I tried to probe Mary, and even tested her
And that’s because I just want you to be happy
Ah Yes, this feeling...
It must be “friendship”
“Friendship” “Friendship”... Who would have thought the day would come when I’d hear that from your lips?
And to think you’d think that about me... I’m so happy I could scream!
John: Sherlock!
Sherlock: Wha! Idiot! Don’t just suddenly hug me!
John: Come on. It’s fine, right?
Sherlock: It’s weird. Let go of me!
John: But, don’t get the wrong idea, Sherlock.
Even if I get married, I won’t stop being your partner
Because solving cases with you is my life’s purpose!
That’s a promise, John.
If you think my friendship is true, know that regardless of what happens from now on
Just go and grab onto your happiness
Because what makes you happy makes me happy.
Yes, I promise. I swear this oath to you, under this blue sky
Under this blue sky, I swear to you
Under this blue sky, I swear to you
John: Let’s make sure everything goes well tomorrow!
Sherlock: Yeah. Let’s do that.
Notes: There's no mention of blue skies, but the weather was shown to be super nice on stage, so I thought I should capture that. I LOVE THIS SCENE.

Nihon shōjo (1976), Iroha ni konpeitou (1977), Tokimeki (1978), Gohan ga dekitayo (1980), Tadaiima (1981), Ai ga nakucha ne. (1982), OSOS (1984), Akiko Yano
Akiko Yano’s music has always been about its fusion, about her embracing collaborators and sounds and intricately, seamlessly blending them into her own artistic definition. It’s that quality that has truly run through her music over the years, from the careful and intricate blends of lightly jazzy, richly electronic, sometime-new-age-y, often-funky and always-traditional-Japanese-inflected works Nihon shōjo [Japanese Girl], Iroha ni konpeitou [Yellowtail Amberjack] and Tokimeki [Excitement] through to her pacey synthpop bleepers Gohan ga dekitayo [Dinner’s Ready]and Tadaima [I’m Home] and more elegant synthetic pop on Ai ga nakucha ne [There’s got to be love?] and OSOS. So much has passed through the Yano machine, but so much of it has been transformed totally afresh by her rampant eccentricity, thereby making all else feel safe, unambitious, boring.
Pick(s): ‘Kikyū ni notte’, ‘Iroha ni konpeitou’, ‘Yameru wake nya ikanai wa’, ‘Pon pon pon’, ‘Ramen tabetai’

A bush warbler sings,
I look up from my cleaning
Hijikata Toshizo
Original: うぐいすやはたきの音もついやめる
Read all of Hijikata’s haiku poems here: https://shinsengumi-archives.tumblr.com/post/683071924948058112/hijikata-toshizos-haiku-poems
fushigi-dono:
Good boy, he cleaned his house :) Or maybe not at home, but at the dojo. Or maybe it was not him, but somebody nearby, and Toshizo was just observing. The nightingale started to sing, and then the dusting stopped. But in general, in haiku you usually write about yourself, so it's most likely that Hijikata-san was doing spring cleaning, and was listening...
That's how I translated it:
The nightingale sang
And the rustle of the broomstick
Involuntarily fell silent...
Despite the vague translation in the dictionary, according to google pictures, a "hataki" is a broom for dusting. It can be made of feathers, old rags and scribbled paper (the latter version appeared in an episode of a Taiga drama, which turned out to be a secret message).
The first songs of a bush warbler are heard in Japan during plum blossom season, so this is another sign of spring. The warbler on a plum tree is a constant image that has been used in both poems and paintings from ancient times to the present day:
But as it turns out, both in Japan and here on the Internet, the warbler is often confused with another bird, the mejiro (literally "white-eyed" in Japanese). It is brighter, olive colored, with a white spot around the eyes, and also flies to plum blossoms. See http://japanblog.su/post97789561/, for example, the grayish birds are warblers and the greenish ones with a spot are mejiro. They are much easier to see, and while the nightingale sings, these white-eyed birds hop around on branches, which may be why there’s confusion.
They don't always chirp so vigorously, sometimes they chirp a little bit less, and a little more cheerfully. It’s a very kawaii bird, too.
Hoshida Kei, given Hijikata's interest in kites, slightly reworked this poem:
Unari tako.
Hataki no oto mo
Tsui yameru
(The roar of the kite... and the broom rustle involuntarily hushed).
As long as it's not sweeping :-D
In general, this haiku has been made fun of in many places, for example in the 30th episode of the Taiga drama. But the translation in Russian is wrong, and the correct one is here: www.diary.ru/~AGEHAchou/p9301471.htm
WhiteWind歴史館:
I see a Japanese bush warbler is singing.
I couldn't help but stop dusting
Hijikata Toshizo, Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi, was a haiku poet who wrote haiku under the pseudonym "Hogyoku”.
Most of his haiku were so "poor" that even Okita Souji laughed at them in the novel "Moeyo Ken”.
However, Toshizo's haiku are very "graceful," an impression that can also be said about his life.
In addition, many of his works are humorous in a way that one would not expect from his image as a "Demon Vice-Commander," so they are enjoyable to read.
Among them, I feel the most affinity with this poem (laugh).
I wonder if he was in charge of cleaning the dojo, which was like a men's club.
As he was dusting, a bush warbler's song came out of nowhere, and he stopped to listen to it.

Decidi comer.
電でん話わするとにしました。
Decidi ligar.

While reading some Star wars prequel trilogy fanfictions I suddenly realise something. Prequel's fans use mando'a in the same way anime's fans use Japanese.
It's fascinating. How many of theses fans where anime's fans before? How many correspondance between the 2 vocabulary can we find?
Let's try with some of the most common terms used.
Mando'a (English) => Japanese used by anime's fans (not always in the original or correct meaning in Japanese but one I have often see the past 20 years.)
ba'buir (grandfather, grandmother)=> Baba (old woman), Jiji (old man), ojii-san (grand father), obaa-san (grand mother). In the two cases the terms are also used to design any old people.
ba'vodu (uncle, aunt)=> oji-san (uncle), oba-san (aunt).
beskad/kad (slightly curved, pointed saber of Mandalorian iron/saber, sword) => Katana
buir (parent/father / mother)=> otou-san (father), okaa-san (mother)
cabur (guardian, protector)=> depending of the situation it could be the same think than ba'vodu or buir
copikla (charming, cute (babies and animals - never women unless you want your head ripped off)) => Kawaii or moe except it's totally ok tu used this word for woman.
cyare (beloved, loved, popular) => i know there is one but I can remember it right now. Maybe the habit of people to use the honorific sama for the man or hime for the woman to show the characters are love interest?
di'kut (idiot, useless individual, waste of space) => baka
Gedet'ye (Please)=> Onegaishimasu, onegai
Gev (Stop it!)=>yameru or yamete kudasai
Ka'ra (stars - ancient Mandalorian myth - ruling council of fallen kings) => Kami-sama
kih'vod (little brother/sister ?) =>imouto and otouto
mandokarla (having the "right stuff", showing guts and spirit, the state of being the epitome of Mando virtue) => kakkoii (“good-looking”, “handsome”, “cool in a manly way”, they totally used the 2 terms in the sames way)
mesh'la (beautiful) => bishounen and bishoujo
Me'ven? (Huh? What? ) => nani?
Ne'johaa! (Shut up!) =>urusai ("Noisy", "Loud", "Annoying" or "Fussy". In some context heavily implied they need to just shut up)
Ni ceta (sorry (lit: I kneel) grovelling apology - rare) => sumimasen or gomenasai and other variations
ori'jate/jate (exelent/good) => sugoi
ori'vod (big brother, older brother, special friend) => onii-san, ani-ki, sempai, onee-chan and all the others variations.
osik (dung, shit)=> kuso !
Oya! (Many meanings: literally "Let's hunt!" and also "Stay alive!", but also Hoorah!, "Go you!", "Cheers!" Always positive and triumphant.)=> Yatta!
Re'turcye mhi (Goodbye - lit. "Maybe we'll meet again")=>sayounara
Su cuy'gar (Hello - lit. "You're still alive.") => konichiwa, ohaoyou, kombanwa
verd'ika (private (rank of a soldier)) => kouhai (it's the younger student or less experience worker in a company in the relation sempai/kouhai. The meaning are different but I think it's often used in the same way. With ori'vod used in the place of sempai. )
vod (comrade, "mate", brother, sister) => nakama (especially in the one piece fandom. They probably could make a contest with the star wars fandom to see who will use vod or nakama the most often.)
Vor'e! (Thanks!) => arrigato
I'm pretty sure there is a lot of other exemples. I hope my rambling was not too incomprehensible. My English is not always very good. And my japanese is almost inexistant. But, bloody hell, this think hit me yesterday evening like a train and I need to vent it somewhere to get it out of my head.

Yameru!!
This shouldn’t be happening in the first place. Tin, please stop. That’s a little brother!!!!! Mas bata pa siya kay Dennis!!!! We can’t, esp mag-aaral pa siya sa US ng medicine. Mygash Tin. Don’t catch feelings for this guy.
Story time~ it was my first church attendee, Nov 5, when he first caught my attention. He was playing the bass, and at first, alam ko na na bata to. Then he started greeting us, he’s very kind and jolly person, not to mention, very talented~ kumakanta, sumasayaw, all around sa instruments. We also share the same interest, anime, marvel, personality (being introverted), etc. He’s also attractive. I wouldn’t say “handsome” since he’s not a head-turner. But girl, when he cut his hair, girl, hahahhaha I went super crush on him. His new hair cut complements him. I jokingly say he looked like 34yrs old because from his looks and the way he acts, he doesn’t seem to be 18!!!! Yeah, he’s 7yrs younger than me.
We started talking in messenger, it was just casual. Not really special. Not until it was a continuous conversation. Like we say goodnight to each other, we share diff hobbies, anime and stuff. He even gets in my nerve. Mapang-asar siya. But yeah in the end he calls me “Ate Kris”.
Then just last night, I couldn’t sleep, I just slept around 4am and guess what, I dreamed of him. It was just ăn ordinary dream, I went to his place to grab some coffee, he was making it the traditional way, his place was messy but very nice. Then another scenario came when my brother and him talked, they complement each other haha like really. Them last scenario came, it was a cliff diving but I can’t dive since I’m scared. All I did was sat and there was another man wanting to touch my legs and I was moving sidewards so he couldn’t reach me, until I bumped to him, and he grabbed my legs as if he’s my boyfriend and as a way of protecting me.
This is insane. This is madness. Lord I can’t. This should be a “happy crush” only. I can’t have anything more than that.
