Sneaky Suspicions
Tumblr media
Elvis x Reader
Summary: You kissed Elvis on a whim thinking you’d never do it again in your lifetime. Why would you ever think he’d show up at your door begging for you to kiss him again? Maybe because that’s what currently lies in front of you.
Note: This is my first smut in a LONG time. I apologize for any cringe! I had this in my drafts for awhile but I’m still working on chapter 4! Enjoy, lovies! (This can be any iteration of Elvis you want btw!)
Masterlist
Part 2 ;)
Warnings: FILTH; NO MINORS! If you are uncomfy with smut I suggest not reading this entirely!
“Elvis if my mama finds out you’re here,” you let out an exasperated sigh as he continued to smirk,” you wipe that smirk of your face, Presley!” He chuckled and placed his hands on your waist.
“C’mon, baby. You were at my show last night practically askin’ me to come find you again. That kiss…Darlin’, you can’t lie and say there wasn’t a spark.” His hands started to make their way to your ass as he continued his unwavering attempt to get your guard down.
“E-Elvis we kissed. That’s it! Why would someone like you care about someone like m- ahhh!” A sultry moan is ripped out of your mouth as his lips assault your neck. His hands beginning to grasp and massage at your backside. You placed your hands on his chest and weakly pushed. Your legs shook like the water beds you saw on TV. You felt your protests become mute as he began to leave marks in his wake.
“Please, baby. Lord, I can’t imagine how the rest of you tastes. I’ve wanted you bad, Y/N.” His normally icy blue eyes seemed to darken as they met your E/C docile ones. You felt yourself slip a little bit forward on the step you were on and he smiles.
“M-My room is the second on the right. Don’t waste anymore time, Elvis.” He didn’t need another word as he scooped you up into his arms. Your heart was pounding in your ears as you thought. You were FINALLY going to sleep with Elvis Presley. Who the hell did you think you were? He closes your door and you find your heart beating faster than ever before.
“That dress looks sinful on that body of yours, lil’ mama. Lord knows I wanna rip it off ya.” He pushes you lightly to lay on the bed and you comply. You find comfort in the smell of his cologne as it invades your bedroom. He smiles as he gazes upon your body.
“Please, Elvis. I need you so badly right now.” Your breath comes out in short breaths as he crawled up your body. He blew his warm breath along the column of your neck. You shiver, pulling him closer instinctively.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m tryna keep myself calm but god you look like an angel.”  He pulled the top of your bodice down. He sighed before he attacked your chest in love bites. You arch your back as he catches your nipple in his mouth. You whine as he bites down softly. Your hands thread through his raven hair and tug slightly. He gives the same attention to your other nipple. You arch into his body , yearning for more.  He leads his kisses down your stomach. He pushes the bottom of your dress up and bites at your thighs. He pushed your panties to the side and circled his finger around your neglected clit. Thought you were trying to regain your senses. You were a waitress at a local diner in Memphis. How come Elvis was so interested in you of all the girls he could ever have?
“E-Elvis. W-We can’t my ma-” You grab his face and kiss him wildly. His tongue slipping into your awaiting mouth. Your body acting on its own will. Your senses really failed you on this one. Your mama was gonna kill you if she found out ‘Elvis THE Pelvis’ was in your bed!
“Calm down, sweetheart. You’re flutterin’ like a bird. You are so wet.” He whispered and continued his worship of your body with his mouth. A whimper left your lips as he lifted one of your legs over his shoulder. His warm breath hitting your pussy, a quiver running through you.
“Elvis, please.” Your voice shook as he continued to tease around the spot you needed him most. He really was going to tease you like you teased him with that kiss last night.
“Keep sayin’ my name, darlin’.” The feeling of his tongue between your thighs made you squeal. Licking up your wet folds as he sucked onto your sensitive clit. Your hand gripped his hair again as you tried to make sense of the ramblings coming out of your mouth. If you weren’t already crying out the groan that fell from his lips as you pulled his hair would have made you scream. He pressed his mouth as close as he could get into your folds like you were his last meal.
“Elvis. Babyyy. Slow d-down. Oh god.” You felt the vibrations of his moans and growls in your pussy as he never missed a beat. He gripped your thighs as you tried to pull away slightly. His nose pressed against your clit as he heard your moans get higher and louder. He pulls away for a second panting like a beast. You bit your lip.
“You taste divine, baby. C’mon, cum for me, darlin’.” he dove right back between your thighs, scared he might miss too much of your exquisite taste. A burning sensation started to form in your lower abdomen. Your hips began to buck against his face as he became more desperate in his ministrations. You felt your orgasm nearing and you threw your head back. A finger pressed against your opening and you cried out. You nodded when he prodded a second finger to your entrance.
“I-I’m gonna- fuck-” Elvis groaned as you began to push at his head as your body shook with extreme pleasure. He lifted his head from beneath your thighs and shot you a glossy smirk.
“Damn, baby. You taste amazing-” You cut him off by colliding his lips with yours. Anything to keep this moment in your brain. The taste of yourself veiled on his tongue and lips. He smiles into the kiss and pulls away, standing up. Before he can adjust himself you fall to your knees in front of him. His adamant protests die in his throat as you rub him through his suit pants.
“C’mon, Elvis. Can’t I have a little fun now?” You begin to unzip his pants as his breath quickens at your words. Pulling his cock out you give it a chaste kiss to the tip. Your hand stoking him up and down. Elvis inhales a quick breath of air as you giggle.
“Keep lookin’ up at me like that darlin’. Fuck, you look sinful, baby.” You smiled before wrapping your lips around his cock.  You flatten your tongue dragging it along the base up to the tip. You watch as his eyes roll back into his head, a loud groan leaving his pink lips.
You pull away as he takes a deep breath. His wide dark lust filled eyes meeting yours. You pumped his cock in your hands, sticking your tongue out to slip around the head. His breath gets caught in his throat as his hands move to the back of your head. His fingers collecting your hair into a fist. You giggle and relax the back of your throat before taking a deep breath yourself. Hope he was ready. You gag as he thrusts into your awaiting mouth. Saliva pooling around his cock and your mouth as he all but sobs into the silence of you bedroom. His eyes never leave your lips as your lips graze the base of his cock. His mind becoming numb as he can only think of the feeling of your throat.
“Holy shit, baby. I-I thought you ain’t ever been with- fuck.” You look up at him and his hips stutter forward. A whiny moan leaves your mouth, sending a vibration through Elvis. You nod at him as he begins to thrust in and out of your mouth. Strings of curses and mumbled words of praise tumble out of his mouth.
“So good for me.”
“Fuck, lil’ mama. Your mouth feels like heaven.”
“That’s my girl.”
“I’m gonna cum, baby.” He gasps as you seemingly take him deeper into your throat. He looks down at you once again, his eyes rolling back as you stare right back. His body begins to shake and his hands leave the back of your head. His climax hitting him as you continued your ministrations. He soon pulls you off with a pop. You kiss the sensitive tip once more as he winces at the feeling.
“Was that kiss last night worth it, Elvis Presley?” He chuckles pulling you closer to his body, once again laying you on your bed. His lips find solace against yours. You feel yourself become dizzy with desire as he ground his cock against you.
“It was so damn worth it, darlin’.” He begins to growl into your mouth as you wrap your legs around his waist. God, you never wanted this to end-
“Y/N L/N! Have you seen that Presley boy is in town again?! Damn greasers! Y/N?” Your mama’s voice rang through the house and you flinched. Of course, right when you're getting down to it, wait your mama’s home! Your eyes widen and Elvis breathily chuckles in your ear. You try pushing him off of you so you could think of a paln but he’s still grinding against you. He moans as you try to still his hips.
“Shh! We gotta get you outta here, Presley!”
“Not without another round!”
“Elvis!”

Our Cast of Characters
Four Addisons:
Clickton K. Addison- (He/Him) Though heavily based off of @brightgoat's au, this version of Click is much more empathetic. Friends with Swatch and Jevil, as well as the rest of the Addisons. In a relationship with Magson.
Magson I. Addison- (He/Him) The same Magson as @brightgoat's au. Friends with the rest of the eastern Cyber City branch of Addisons, Swatch, and Jevil. In a relationship with Clickton.
Payton M. Addison- (He/him) Again, the same as Brightgoat's au. Friends(?) with Swatch, and actually friends with the rest of the Addisons.
Videon E. Addison- (He/him) The youngest of the group. Friends with all of the above.
The Bird and the Clown:
Swatch- (They/them) Swatch is mostly based on my hc's. I'll post a Swatch hc entry soon. Friends with all of the above and Jevil too.
Jevil- (They/them) This version of Jevil hasn't been 'freed' yet. No idea how they got to Cyber City, but Click immediately bonded with them.
Additional Addisons:
The Addison Corps Heads:
Joyston A. Addison: (He/him) Heavily based of off @brightgoat's Joyston, but this Joyston has a soft side. Leader of the eastern Cyber City factory, Joyston seems to be brutal at first, but will not kill a fellow Pink Addison...only reset them a little.
Viron Y. Addison: (He/They) Viron is the Head Engineer and Innovator at Addison Corps- he is mostly holed up in his maus-infested lab. Like most Addisons, he's not mentally stable, and has a habit of experimenting on himself. He has a finger gun that can store two bullets, among other hidden powers.
Clipak VL. Addison: (He/him) Clipak used to be the Head Engineer of Addison Corps, but with Viron's recent takeover he's fallen to his own branch. He doesn't have a true moral compass- he'll experiment on Addisons to get more Addison upgrades. He chose to mute his emotions long ago, but will unmute them if he is in a situation where he needs to manipulate others.
Tomston A. Addison: (He/him) Head of the northern branch of Addisons Corps. He puts on a front of being a calm person, when in reality he is absolutely terrifying. Clipak is the only Addison so far who is not afraid of him.
The Lavenders:
Planning on uploading another handbook just for these guys.
Poston M. Addison: (She/Her) The lesbian of the group. She tends to be dry, but can be very flirtatious if she wants to be. She brings her phone with her everywhere, just in case she catches some action.
Luston S. Addison: (He/him) The gayest of the group. Great sense of fashion, will try to flirt with anyone and everyone, has the most bitches AND bastards.
Libidoson S. Addison: (He/She/They, mostly He/Him) Lust's partner in crime, he and Lust will frequently flirt together. Two is better than one after all when it comes to convincing a potential customer.
Quantin W. Addison: (He/him) The paranoid one- he was originally supposed to be a yellow, but a glitch happened and he got put in the husk of a Lavender instead. He tries his best to be flirty, but will almost always revert to talking about how the earth is flat.
Snipston T. Addison: (He/Him) The most flirty of the Lavenders, he often partners with Post so they can both get girls.
Jessie A. Addison: (She/Her) The only straight one, and the least flirty. She dislikes the others, and dislikes being a Lavender in the first place. However, if she gets drunk, she will revert back to her basic code.
The rebellion and Misc:
Popak P. Addison: (He/Him) One of the oldest models, Popak was brought back to live via a rogue electrical charge. He was built in the 90s, and has no idea how much times have changed since he was powered down.
Scurvak C. Addison: (She/Her) Scurvak was hacked by viruses after she went into the dark web- she is now a pirate who steals information and copies it to databases. She only talks in pirate-speak if she gets angry.

do you have any,,,post prison mute dream stuff??? or like, severely quiet, silent and obedient dream shtuff?? and the consequences thereof??? bc im reading your drabbles and i am in literal awe
aww, thank you so much !! yeah selectively mute dream post prison is absolutely a hc i love and write smtimes - it’s already been suggested in canon, and it’s super fun to play w/ in post-canon works. here’s some fluffy syndicate!dream bc gosh knows we need it after the angst that we’ve been getting
tw: implied torture, panic attacks, trauma - all v short mentions. this one’s definitely on the lighter side! :D
“I didn’t know you knew sign.”
Dream startles, arms flying to cover his face, and the crow he had been signing at squawks angrily when it turns towards Phil. He ignores its chatter, smoothing his own flinch behind a smile, lowering his wings, bringing his hands, palms up, in front of him at his waist - this song and dance has become all too familiar in the weeks that Dream’s resided with the Syndicate, and Phil is nothing if not patient.
Slowly, the boy uncurls from where he’d huddled into himself, arms clasped firmly around his ribs like someone will try and take them from him if he doesn’t hold on tight enough (and maybe, Phil thinks, imagining the messy lattice of scars underneath Dream’s loose-fitting hoodie that he has only seen a few times since they brought him over, someone has - but those are thoughts that are better left untouched for as long as he can manage it.) Dream’s eyes raise, flick over his face, his breathing quieting down from the discordant rattle it had been, and tentatively, ever slowly, he raises his good hand in a loose fist, letting it bob up and down. Yes.
Phil settles into the armchair across from him, raising his own hands. His fingers feel clumsy, but the memories come back with more ease than he would’ve expected - I know a little. Dream’s eyes don’t quite brighten, but his shoulders fall down from where they’d been hunched up to his ears, the hand he keeps tucked to his chest trembling slightly less, and it’s as much as a win as he’s ever going to get.
The silence stretches, familiar in its awkwardness, and Phil stifles a grimace as he forces long-forgotten memories to the surface. Dream’s hands, from what little he had seen from the doorway, had practically flown as he spoke to the crow still sitting by his right side - obviously practiced even with the still-healing injuries tracing over both arms. How did you learn?
We- He hesitates, left hand trembling violently, before pushing on, we all learned with- he signs a C, then lifts his hands to his head in a sign that Phil vaguely remembers as being the one for deer. Dream must see the questions written in his expression, because his cheeks flush as he backtracks. C-A-L-L-A-H-A-N, he finger spells, and Phil nods. That makes sense.
Some of the crows in the house must have noticed Phil’s arrival, because they storm into the room from the doorway, awkwardly hopping across the door with their wings waving by their sides as they eagerly voice their displeasure at the lack of attention. He’s not in the mood to pick out the words between their angry caws, so he simply watches as they scatter all over the room. Something almost like a smile tugs at Dream’s face as he watches them enter - the kid has grown inexplicably fond of both his flock and all of the assorted animals that Techno drags back into the house whenever he goes out, and Phil has long since resigned himself to being outnumbered one hundred to one by a literal army of mobs wherever he goes. Some of the crows had been pretty wary of Dream at the beginning, but after a few weeks more or less the entire flock has become viciously protective of the kid, sufficiently won over by gifts of head scratches and berries and various shiny things. Sure enough, the birds form a dark, squawking circle at Dream’s feet, a few flying up to tug impatiently at his clothes, and despite the (very obvious) favoritism, Phil smiles; the flock is good for Dream, as annoying as they can be.
DADZA, one calls, its lone cry soon echoed by the entire group of fluttering feathers gathered on the floor, DADZA AND DREAM DADZA DADZA. Phil laughs, a familiar warmth and exasperation filling his lungs, and he turns his attention back to Dream.
You up to some more? He tries; it’s a chance, for sure, and he brushes away the creeping anxiety crawling up his neck; he doesn’t want to make Dream panic, hopes that he’s doing the right thing. I could always use the practice.
Quiet, once again, only broken by the murmurs of his birds eagerly awaiting Dream’s answer as the boy rocks side to side in deliberation, and Phil is halfway through working out a frantic you don’t have to if you don’t want to when Dream raises his own hands.
Sure, he signs, a forced smile on his face but eyes still clear and bright, why not?
Somehow, they end up in a bastardized version of twenty questions, surrounded by birds that do not hesitate at any chance to voice their own opinions. They work through favorite colors (green), favorite flowers (roses for Dream, peonies for Phil), favorite mob (Phil answers this with a pointed definitely-not-crows, staring at the flock who have been shouting over themselves naming different colors for about five minutes, which immediately makes them devolve into screaming caws and divebombs at the edges of Phil’s cape that leave him thoroughly occupied for the next ten minutes), and at some point Phil falls further into the cushions of his chair and Dream’s legs lay against the sofa instead of being drawn up to his chest and it’s almost normal.
By the time Techno finds them, they’ve forgone structure all together, Dream watching intently as Phil signs out an embellished tale of one of the Antarctic Empire’s exploits with a crow held gently in his hands. Techno’s voice behind him startles him bad enough to send his wings snapping outwards, feathers standing on end, but Dream doesn’t react much beyond a twitch of his lips - he must’ve seen the piglin hybrid and tag-teamed to prank him, Phil realizes with a half-hearted grumble. Techno’s eyes sparkle mischievously, definitely planned, then.
“Hi Phil, Dream,” Techno shrugs off his cloak and drapes it over the back of Phil’s chair, “Looks like you’ve been busy. Can’t say I’m not feelin’ a bit left out, though; Phil, you never told me you knew sign language.”
“You never asked, mate,” he quips, even as Dream signs animatedly from the corner of his eye. T-E-C-H-N-O-L-O-S-T.
Techno narrows his eyes. “I get the feelin’ that you’re messin’ with me, nerd.” Dream blinks faux innocently, smiling wider, and Phil picks up on the bit. Oh, this is fun.
He can’t understand us, he assures Dream, feeling a wicked smirk of his own growing on his face. So what do you think for dinner?
“Phil- the betrayal!” Techno splutters, voice going high and pitchy, and that reaction alone would’ve made the prank more than worth it - but Dream’s shoulders shake, eyes glittering as his fingers fly almost too fast for Phil to catch, and oh, that’s laughter, tiny, breathless giggles falling from his lips, and Techno must catch it even as he begins to berate the voices in his head, “This is not a bruh moment, Chat, don’t you start-”
Stew? Dream signs, still snickering, and he looks happy, more than Phil has ever seen him, the sight of him smiling and bright-eyed with amusement almost enough to cover for the gaunt quality of his face, the pale scars left all over his skin.
Of course, mate, Phil signs back, throwing in a do you think T-E-C-H-N-O ended up lost in those same woods again for good measure, rewarded when it sends Dream into another round of giggles. Techno grumbles without any real heat behind it, plopping himself down in the remaining chair.
“Ok, nah, no more of this exclusive club; you guys are teachin’ me this tonight before Chat loses it - yes that was an insult, don’t you start it with the E’s,” and Phil laughs, hard, the flock cawing and beginning to spam E on their own, for some reason, and Dream signing through the alphabet with the biggest grin on his face, and-
“Oh, Prime, this is going to so scuffed,” Phil says, breathless, his warning unheeded as Techno finishes his rant at Chat to focus on Dream.
And it is scuffed - it is so fucking scuffed, between Phil’s lackluster memory and Techno’s frequent interrupting to quiet down an extremely rowdy Chat and the incessant calls of the flock further egging them on, but it’s warm and Dream doesn’t stop smiling and Techno looks more relaxed than he has in weeks and the helpless, singing urge of protect protect protect that has lived in Phil’s head ever since Techno had carried Dream, beaten and bloodied and broken, through their front door finally, finally, begins to quiet down.
He tunes back into the impromptu lesson - they’ve finished the alphabet, seemingly having moved onto common words and objects, and Dream- hesitates, raises his hand, all five fingers drawn together, to the corner of his mouth and then pulls it back. Home, he signs, moving to fingerspelling, H-O-M-E. Home.
For a moment, they’re all quiet, Dream’s hand still raised by his face, even the crows falling silent as they all stare at each other. Phil watches, breath caught in his throat, as the planes of Techno’s face soften, the teasing edge of his voice, for once, leaving. “Yeah, nerd. You’re home.”
Home, Dream signs again, then again, looking up, eyes bright, hopeful. Phil thinks, proudly, that it looks like a new beginning. I’m home.

Yuri Quarantine Reading List
In times like these, when we are all doing our best to stay home, social distance, and protect our loved ones from COVID-19, we need a little bit of entertainment to get us through some of the longer days isolated in a room. Absorbing yourself in another world through books, games, and media is a solace for many of us during the pandemic. With that in mind, I reached out to anyone and everyone I could think of, from friends and colleagues to publishers and creators to ask, “what lesbian manga or anime is on your quarantine list” and they ran with it!

Emilien dating a serial killer, rabbit.
written by @lizzietrashkittie instagram: @lizziekitt
Rabbit sighed and ran a hand across his forehead. "Wow. You sure we're a hassle." He smiled, speaking to no one in particular. "It's always the small ones who want to put up a fuss and make this a bigger mess then it needs to be" he gave a small giggle and kneeled by the sliced up body of a teenage boy with soft black hair "Isn't that right my little fighter?" He ruffles the corpse's hair and pauses for a second feeling the stimulation of emotions slowly fade "..Fun while it lasted" he got up and stepped away lighting a match and tossing it onto the body, lighting it and the trash around it up in a large orange glow. He runs a hand through his hair "....at least the fires pretty." He turned on his heel and took a small glance around and began walking. Another body to the count. ~~~~~~~ "Victa!" Emilien cried and hugged onto the other male "He won't reply! Do you think he's mad at me?" Victor smiled alittle at the slight warm feeling from the boys hold "I'm sure e's fine. He's probably mad at himself more then anythin'..For yell'n at ya." Emilien gave a small pout and nuzzled this boyfriend's side "I donno..it was sorta my fault.." "Nah. Ain't nothin' you're fault." Emilien nuzzled again before taking a deep breath and pulling away, putting his hands in the other boy's. "I guess so. He was just so mad.. I'm worried. What if he-" Victor cut him off with a small kiss and a smile "If he chooses to not talk to ya anymore, that's his loss. You're a treat." Emilien smiled slightly and blushed "Thanks.." The two shared small talk over tea and chatted the night away in each other's company. The conversation was about ferrets and the cost of owning one. If Emiliens bedroom is even big enough for such a pet and if his dad would even allow it. But the conversation was mostly mute to Victor. His mind was more focused on a previous discussion. One about a fight Emilien and his friend had had. Emillien's friend wasn't so happy about the two dating. He got mad when Emillien refused to end the relationship. He yelled and told Emilien he didn't know what he was talking about. It annoyed Victor. It annoyed Rabbit too. He takes a small breath and smiles. It won't be a problem anymore. ~~~~~~~ Eventually the word got out, it's alittle noticable when a child goes missing. Of course, no one could find the body, Rabbit made sure of that. Emillien was heartbroken, his best friend was missing. No one knew where he was, what he was doing..if he was alive. Rabbit knew. But Victor refused to tell. Instead he spent alot of time comforting his boyfriend, petting his hair and rubbing his back. Letting him cry as much as he needed and always, always assuring him that he held no fault. He was perfect. After awhile the case went cold, Jorden couldn't be found or even traced. There wasn't much hope for him being alive anymore so everyone had to accept he was dead. Emilien had to accept he was dead. Their last conversation was a yelling match, an argument about something as petty as a minimal life choice. It hurt Victor to see him so down, but he knew this was better for him. Jorden didn't like Victor, no..He didn't like Rabbit. He wanted Emilien to leave. To run away and cower and hide. Victor couldn't have let that happen, he needs Emilien.. Emilien is his light. His joy. Rabbit needed a new toy anyway, two birds with one stone, it was the perfect solution to this little mishap. As soon as the hysterics subsided Emilien would see that too.. Victor is good. Emilien is good Rabbit is good. This was good. ~~~~~~ A small yawn left the ginger's lips as he glanced to the body sleeping next to him. 2:00 am. Typical. Emilien's used to his normal insomnia, he'd be awake for at least another hour before his eyes grow heavy. On the bright side, he gets to see his boyfriend in his purest form. Victor always looks so peaceful in his sleep, it's almost easy to forget about the boys normal blank and cold demeanor and eyes. His eyes don't look sharp and hungry when he's asleep. His shoulders and neck don't seem to posed and ready to throw a punch. It's not that Victor was an angry or nervous person, in fact he was rather a stark opposite. His fighty and strong stance is just a cover for how hollow and empty his emotions normally are.. Emilien smiled alittle. He knows his boyfriend is a rather particular person. He takes pride in knowing he is an exception to the rules. That his smile and words can make the boy's emotions flare and hit like nothing else.. He takes pride knowing the feelings between them are real. He takes a small breath and sits up. "If am gonna be awake al'night, I might as well be productive.." he spoke quietly to himself getting up and looking around the room. His room was clean, nothing to be done there. His eyes landed on the dusty and dirty satchel bag by the window. Victor's.. The poor black haired boy was homeless. He kept all his belonging He kept all his belongings with him almost all the time, and often slept at Emilien's when the weather seems to harsh for a park bench. Emilien huffed at the mess. "..How had I not offered to wash that for ya yet, love?" He spoke to himself again, tho the intent is pointed at the sleeping boy. He took up the bag in his hands and patted the top "Only the Lord knows what all it's been through." He giggles lightly. Leaving the room and heading to the bathroom he hums a quiet tune. Slowly he takes out the items inside. Not much unexpected for a homeless teen. Some cloths, a few dollars, extra first aid supplies.. His fingers rested on some papers. "..Oh?" He took them out and turned them over, a small gasp leaving him. In his hand were multiple ripped pages of writing, this wouldn't be alarming if not for a name that caught his eye. "Jorden" He read the rest of the words intently. Names of locations and dates, games and activities. It was like a spider web, clearly planned and interconnected, but confusing is startling to an outsider. On the final page there was a sentence that caused a familiar pain to hit in Emilien's chest. "Get him under the bridge, make sure he's weak, and set him a flame" The dots and words connected at once for him. Jorden hadn't just gone missing. He was lead away, like cattle to the slaughter. He gripped the papers for a moment and tears welled in his eyes. He tried to rationalize. Maybe this was a joke. Maybe it's a different jorden. Maybe an ARG or weird game Victor had gotten into. He went back to the room, Victor had now sat up, probably waking up from the sounds of movement. The black hairs boy looked at him and offered a small smile. A shallow smile. Emilien knew the difference. "Ey love.. what's got you out o'bed?" For a moment Emilien stayed quiet. Quietly holding the papers and quietly wording himself. "..W-What are these..?" He shakenly held out the papers. Mentally preying the boy could give a pleasent and innocent explanation. Victor glanced at the papers before taking them softly. "..Ah. Why were ya going through my bag?" He gave a slight chuckle "You're gonna end up seeing stuff ya won't like, love." No explanation. Just a table turn. Emilien balled his fist and teared up harder taking a step to the boy "Just tell me what that is! W-Why do you have it. What is it doing in your bag! Just tell me you didn't-" He was cut off by Victor getting to his feet. His eyes sharp. Hungry. His shoulders and neck stiff and seemingly ready to attack. His energy was one of danger, and for once that energy was focused on Emilien. Victor smiled. However fake it might have been. "Emilien, come on. You've already grieved..It doesn't matter now, he's gone. There's no point getting into the details." He softly pulled him closer, hands sliding around his waist. Emilien was frozen for a second before coming back to reality. Victor was scary..but he knew he wouldn't actually hurt him..surely. He gave a stern look "It does matter, Victa. Stop dancing around it, you're telling on yourself anyway!" His confidence fell once again when his emotions remembered the accusation he was throwing. His eyes grew wet once more and his voice got weak. "..Why would you do that?.." Victor's expression was unchanging. A blank slate lacking of remorse or regret. Emilien caught his breath slightly and pushed away from him. "Why would you do that!? Why would you kill him? You knew he was my friend, you knew I care about him!" Victor only sighed. "Emilien..love. He wanted you to leave me. He called you naive and blind. No friend would say such things to you. You're acting like he was perfect" he gave a small chuckle and smile at the thought. Emilien was starting to have a distaste for that smile. Without a word he turned and walked. He wasn't dealing with this, this wasn't his place. He needed to get help, to get someone more capable. Stronger. Victor caught on quick what he was heading for. The phone. He grabbed him harshly from behind "Love, you're being irrational. You clearly need sleep!" Emilien yelped and attempted to pull away, thought this time was much harder. He resorted to instead pushing into it. The two slammed into a wall, Victor's back struck a photo frame and shattered it's glass. The shock was enough to free Emilien from his grip. Victor wasn't giving up. He smiled again, and attempted to convince Emilien that this whole thing was a ridiculous thing to fuss over. Emilien caught back more tears and glanced back at the phone. Victor's tone grew sharper..hungrier. Emilien didn't have much choice..he wrong about Jorden's death..he couldn't live past being wrong about Victor's restraint. He sighed "..I-I'm sorry.." he allowed himself to cry, all the tears he had been fighting ran out and he fell to the ground. Victor followed him down, embracing him gently. "Shh..It's okay, this isn't your fault.. you're perfect, love." Emilien cried harder, apologizing relentlessly and clinging to the boy. Suddenly Victor gasped lightly. A shaky hand held a shard of glass in his back. He loosened his grip and locked eye's with his boyfriend. Emilien's eyes were tired and empty. Not from a lack of emotion, but from an abundance. He pulled the shard downwards to rip more skin and ignored the pained noises from the other. Victor got shaky due to pain and gripped to Emilien's shirt. Emilien took his hand away from the shard and put it softly on the boys cheek. He made a second round of eye contact. Victor's eyes were different from how he'd ever seen them before. They weren't sharp..or hungry. They looked scared. Scared and weak. He gave the boy a soft kiss on the forehead before getting up and shakenly walking to the phone. The police and paramedics arrived sometime later to retrieve the black haired boy and his belongings. Emilien answered the few questions he could but mostly secluded himself. His parents were awoken from the sirens and his father yelled but it was static noise to him. ~~~~~~~ Emilien didn't want to care. He wanted to ignore all news and never know what happened after that night. Yet he found himself still watching. Victor was alive for a time before bleeding out..Emilien is off scot free because it's been ruled as self defence. When the police searched his bag they found more of the papers, some of which aligning with previously closed cases. Along with them they found a white rabbit mask in the bottom, something Emilien didn't dig far enough to see. It opened back up around 27 different cases of 'suicide' and ' disappearances' all throughout the town, all of which seeming to alone with notes and the mask. Emilien was hurt in finding it out. He was hurt in learning that his boyfriend was capable of such things, that he would hurt and will anyone for nearly any reason. That those striking, hungry eyes belonged to a cold and calculated murderer.. But in a sick way..he takes pride in it. He takes pride in knowing he was able to put an end to it.

OK so im gonna actually yell abt this au now the mphfpc!au is based on miss peregrines home for peculiar chufywguwihoejli but with a few differences based on my own headcanons for the books (e.g if u spend a lot of time around an individual peculiar u gain a bit of their power; not enuff to like Be Them but like. basics.) we’ll also be completely ignoring the “only women can be ymbrynes” bullshit bc i have other plans 4 the ladies also seasons r basically loops so u can travel back to them. technically canon bc of the one time xisuma took scar and cub to an earlier season once but this time every season is plagued with monsters rip.
so i have a planned list of peculiarities and other random junk below; read if you’d like:
xisuma: hes an ymbryne! he becomes a snowy owl at will. ymbrynes arent like caretakers in this au like they are in the books and instead are leaders? like the leader of a gang but less murdery/druggy/you get the picture.
biffa: also an ymbryne! he’s a crowned eagle, one of the most violent birds of prey. he vanished earlier in the season and x doesn’t exactly like talking about him very much.
joe: his peculiarity is more mild but he has enhanced empathy! he can sense others’ emotions and knows exactly how they feel. it often reflects on him as well. he’s also got an advanced form of synthesia which helps him write. he used to be able to jump forward in time itself, thus making him the most powerful hermit there, but after an encounter with ex a long time ago that ability has since been taken away. x seems to be a lot less on edge around joe now. in fact, a lot of the hermits do.
cleo: shes a redstone-powered zombie. she was killed by hollows in a previous season, but revived by doc so shes basically a robot in human flesh. however, due to injury, she’s completely mute. joe has like entire stacks of books from her writing in them, and if it weren’t for communicators he’d have many, many more.
grian: used to have wings; no longer has wings. his wings couldn’t be saved after an encounter with a hollow. unlike the other hermits who need rockets to propel them, grian is light as a sparrow, allowing him to fly without them. hes not an ymbryne though; ymbrynes have much deeper, more secret powers than just being birds. now that i think about it, hollows (and evil x) really do suck at killing people. it’s also been said that grian spectates another world in his dreams (he will not be quiet in his sleep. at all.). most of the hermits (except x and joe and grian himself) just blow it off as a myth though.
mumbo: controls redstone with his mind. basically a living lever. its incredibly draining, though, and redstone contraptions immediately shut down once hes not controlling them. he prefers doing traditional redstone. theoretically he could fully control cleo. but thats mean so he doesnt.
iskall: controls iskallium. he and jevin claim there is a difference between their abilities, but everyone else just has a chuckle out of it. he’s also started to notice that whenever he walks, the ground around him drops a few degrees.
stress: full ice and snow manipulation. she mainly uses this to make ice sculptures around her base, rather than anything actually important. shes also immune to the cold. iskall’s best friend.
ren: he was able to communicate fluidly with animals. however, he was also tragically obstinate which caused him to meet an equally tragic end. i might still have plans for him.
false: uncanny fighting skills. almost cannot be beat in battle. her pain tolerance is also extremely high. she’s become a lot more distant and snappish since ren died, and whenever she isnt busy she can be found by any of ren’s builds. she’s incredibly bitter about cleo.
doc: he can raise the dead with redstone! nobody knows how, since the other redstoners like tango and mumbo can’t do the same thing. it might just be a doc thing.
tango: f i r e. he can manipulate fire, much like how stress can manipulate ice. his horns also glow when he’s happy! they also glow at night, though less intensely. zed tried to touch tango’s horns once. zed also had to go see stress for minor burns 5 minutes later.
zed: his is a little hard to describe? he’s got a power similar to dragon’s breath, as he is affiliated with the end. admittedly this is just an advanced form of my normal zed headcanon. hes also the only hermit capable of exploring the void without dying. he describes it as, “very voidy”. as of late he’s been seeing shadows in shopping district or far corners of hermits’ bases, but tango and impulse tell him not to worry about it too much. impulse: he can manipulate darkness & shadows. tango’s joked that his shirt is made out of shadow and thats why its black. i know some people here wished that was true.
tfc: part wight. because of this, he can see wights and hollows. x was incredibly skeptical about him at first, thinking he’d betray the hermits, but after several seasons of fighting hollows with and living alongside tfc, he’s finally warmed up to the older hermit.
scar: vex magic! he and cub have always had vex magic, and this shared ability allowed them to bond. scar has a bit more trouble controlling it, however, and relies on cub for comfort. this has resulted in far less accidents than the hermits had anticipated, fortunately. he can also see hollows, but theyre scary so if he sees them he freezes up rather than fighting them. fortunately, other hermits do help him out of these situations.
cub: also has vex magic! vex magic happens to be incredibly potent against hollows, but he can’t see them and scar goes into a cold sweat when he sees them so neither of them can exactly fight very well against them.
jevin: controls slime! hangs out with iskall on a fairly regular basis. he also claims there’s a difference between he and iskall’s abilities. theoretically he could chuck his entire head at you if he wanted to.
keralis: sonic screams. he can shatter glass and your ears with this ability. surprisingly he still has a very nice voice.
python: controls plants! he takes advantage of this in combat a lot. however, he also enjoys just having a cute little flower garden somewhere. deserts are pretty much hell for him.
wels: metallokinesis! he forged his own armor w this, and is a reliable blacksmith. additionally, he’s a decent fighter as well. he and py are often the go-to hermits when fighting needs to be done, especially since false is MIA most of the time and biffa is MIA all of the time.
evil xisuma: hes a ymbryne gone rogue; he’s sided with the wights. he’s the og, having created hollows and wights on purpose to get revenge on xisuma. he can become a crow at will, but he prefers the human form.

Could you write a prompt where beca, chloe, emily and stacie go hiking and beca and chloe get lost and one of them gets hurt?
[Okay, so I feel like this probably isn’t even close to what you had in mind when you came into my askbox, but… I mean, those things above do happen… Trigger warning for blood & horror and just-- be warned?]
Something isn’t right. She can feel it. The woods are eerily silent as the four of them follow the hiking trail. Personally, Beca hates hiking, but Chloe had batted her eyes and gave her that stupid puppy dog look… ‘It’ll be fun!’ She’d said, and while Beca loved both Stacie and Emily, she didn’t love double dates, especially double dates that involved hiking.
They’d been walking for the better part of an hour, talking and laughing and stopping to look at the nature, but Beca had grown quiet. Something– something isn’t right, there’s a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
“Becs?” Chloe breaks her from her thoughts, and she stops walking as she realizes that their group has stopped and they’re all looking at her weirdly. “Are you okay?”
Beca frowns. “Can’t you hear that?”
Stacie and Emily share a confused glance while Chloe just furrows her brows. “I don’t hear anything.” Emily says, looking between Stacie and Chloe, seemingly for confirmation that she isn’t missing whatever Beca is trying to point out.
“Exactly,” Beca looks all around them, then. “There’s no birds chirping, no leaves rustling, there isn’t even any fucking wind. It’s too quiet.” Like the calm before the storm, she thinks.
The three girls all look around them and everyone is quiet for a moment, listening. “Something is wrong.” Beca says anxiously.
“Beca, you’re freaking me out. This isn’t funny.” Chloe says with a frown. Emily moves closer to Stacie, her arm slipping through the other woman’s.
“Dude, I’m not kidding. I feel like–” Beca shivers and rubs the back of her neck as the hairs there stand on ends. “I feel like we’re being watched.” She finishes in a hushed tone.
Before anyone can say anything, something whizzes past Beca’s face, grazing her cheek before it lodges itself in the tree. “Ow! What the fuck?!” Her hand flies up to her cheek to find blood there. Everyone’s gaze turns to the tree.
“Is– is that an arrow?” Emily asks, voice shaking.
And suddenly the uneasy feeling that Beca had before turns into dread and fear. “We need to leave.”
“Beca–“
Chloe is cut off as Emily gasps and her eyes widen in utter fear. “G-guys…” She lifts a shaking hand and points behind Beca. They all turn to follow her gaze, finding a large shape moving toward them at an all too casual pace.
Leaves rustle loudly, too loudly to be an animal. It comes from both sides and from the large shape coming from behind Beca. “Oh shit,” Stacie whispers as her eyes find something coming toward them from the right.
“They’re surrounding us!” Chloe’s eyes are wide with fear as she stares off in the left direction.
“Run.” Beca all but commands. She doesn’t like that their paces are so casual, like they’re in no rush. Another arrow whizzes past them from the right, just missing Stacie by a few inches. “Run, now!”
They all start running in the only direction that doesn’t have something coming at them, and it’s completely off the hiking trail…
Beca’s chest burns as she races through the woods, her calves absolutely on fire as she pushes herself to keep going. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she thanks Aubrey for all the cardio she made them do.
“Beca!” Chloe wheezes as she tugs on her arm to stop. “We– we l-lost Emily and Stacie.” She bends at the waist to try and catch her breath, but Beca wants to keep moving.
Trying to catch her own breath, Beca wipes the sweat from her brow as she looks around anxiously. “We’ll– we’ll find them, but we have to keep moving. We don’t know what those people– or things are, and I don’t wanna find out.”
There’s movement in the distance, and Beca tugs Chloe’s arm. “Keep moving!”
Beca pulls Chloe along, dodging trees and fallen limbs, until suddenly Chloe is no longer beside her and a loud cry echoes the forest. Beca comes to skidded halt and turns to find Chloe on the ground, her foot caught in what Beca assumes is a bear trap. “Shit!”
“Get it off!” Chloe’s eyes are wide and full of tears as she grimaces in pain. Beca drops to her knees and quickly examines the trap, trying to find the release, but to no avail.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” She doesn’t want to make things worse, Beca can already see that the teeth of the trap are digging into Chloe’s skin. She’s pretty sure she read somewhere that these types of traps were outlawed years ago. This one appears to be old and rusted, stained with blood.
“Beca, please! It hurts!”
Beca rips off her plaid shirt and uses it to cushion her hands so that she can push it open by the mouth. It takes effort, but she manages to push it open enough for Chloe to quickly pull her foot out. Beca releases the trap and it snaps together with a resounding clap. “Can you walk?” Beca asks, eyes trailing over Chloe’s ankle. Her skin is broken and bleeding where the serrated edges caught her, and her ankle looks a little swollen, but not terribly so.
“I think so.” Chloe says as she tries to stand. Beca helps her, and as Chloe steps forward, she winces, but then nods jerkily. “Hurts, but I think I can manage.” Beca slips her arm around Chloe, anyway and guides her along as quickly as the redhead’s injury will allow them.
“Let’s try to find the others…”
“We lost Beca and Chloe.” Stacie says as they come to a stop, both panting.
Emily turns in a slow circle, wide eyes searching, but all she can see are trees. “I’m scared, it’s getting dark. We’ve lost the trail, how are we–“ Her words are cut short as pain suddenly radiates through her right shoulder and arm. An agonizing scream is ripped from her throat as her legs seem to give out on her and she drops to her knees.
“Oh my god!” She hears Stacie cry out, feels her girlfriend dropping down next to her. “Oh shit, oh fuck. Oh my god.”
“What!” Emily croaks, eyes shut tight. “What– what is it!”
“An arrow!” Stacie says in a panicked voice.
Emily’s eyes snap open as she glances down to see the shaft of an arrow sticking out just below her clavicle. Her breathing hitches, and her eyes burn with tears. “G-get it out!”
Stacie’s face is pale as she looks it over. “It almost went straight through– the head is sticking out on the other side– it just barely missed bone, but I– I’m sorry, it’s better to leave it in. I can’t be sure what kind of damage that would do– it could make things worse. The shaft will act as a sort of plug, to keep you from bleeding too much.”
Emily releases a whimper that turns into a sob. “It hurts.”
“I know, baby. I’m sorry.” Stacie’s own eyes are welling up with tears. “Try to keep your arm still, okay? Here–” She removes her light jacket and makes a sort of makeshift sling. “Better?” Emily just nods mutely.
There’s movement behind Stacie, but Emily notices it too late as something large and burly snatches her girlfriend up by her arms and yanks her back. The brunette screams and Emily tries to move to get to her, but then something is pulling her to her feet, jostling her bad arm and causing a searing pain to run through her shoulder. “S-Stacie!” She cries out, her pain taking a backseat to the overwhelming panic at the fact that her girlfriend is being dragged away by– Emily sucks in a sharp breath as she finally lays eyes on him– it.
It’s tall and burly, it’s face deformed and gnarled. Suddenly, she’s being pulled back and then thrown over someone’s shoulder, her own shoulder screaming in agony at the careless movement. The scent of, what Emily can only describe as rotting meat overwhelms her senses and she nearly throws up.
Emily puts up a fight the whole way, but the thing is too big and he carries her like a ragdoll, like she weighs nothing. She can hear Stacie somewhere, grunting and fighting and cursing, and Emily isn’t sure if it brings her a little comfort, or fills her with dread.
She isn’t sure how long they’ve been moving, but suddenly she’s being dropped on something hard. She lands mostly on her ass, managing to catch herself before she could fall back. Her good hand lands in something wet and sticky and as she looks down, all she sees is red. Blood red. Her eyes widen and she jerks her hand away, makes a move to get up, but a large hand holds her down by her good shoulder.
Emily looks up at her captor, noting his deformed face and balding head. She isn’t sure what he’s wearing, but it’s stained with blood and dirt and other things that Emily doesn’t want to think about. Her heart is hammering in her chest as she looks around, taking in her surroundings.
She seems to be in a small house of some sort, from what she can see. Her eyes move back to her captor and as she goes to say something (what, she isn’t sure), the door bangs open.
The other deformed looking man comes in with Stacie struggling over his shoulder. He nods at Emily’s captor before he drops Stacie onto the floor. Her girlfriend’s hands and feet are tied, and she struggles to break free. “Stacie!” Emily whimpers.
Stacie pauses her movements to look up at Emily, her eyes then move to Emily’s captor and then to her own. “W-what are you going to do with us?”
Neither of them say anything, they simply gaze at one another before Emily’s captor starts to pull off the makeshift sling. Emily can do nothing but sit, frozen in fear. “Hey! Don’t you touch her!” She hears Stacie yell.
Her captor studies the arrow in her shoulder, before he breaks off the tail, causing the shaft to jerk inside her. Emily cries out in pain, tears streaming down her face. The deformed man places his large hand on her bad shoulder, before he grabs at something behind Emily, and before she realizes what’s happening, her entire shoulder feels as if it’s on fire. She screams so loud, her voice cracks.
“E-Emily!” Stacie sobs out, still struggling.
But Emily doesn’t hear much else, because everything goes black.
They’re leaning against a tree, catching their breaths when they hear it.
An agonizing scream pierces the eerily silent forest and it has both Beca and Chloe standing rigidly. They share a panicked glance as Chloe mumbles, “Emily.”
They quickly move toward the sound, both silently wondering what they could possibly do.
“Wait, stop–” Chloe whispers harshly. “There.” She points off into the distance and Beca follows her gaze. There are Emily and Stacie, and two– things carrying them away.
“Fuck. Mother fucking shit.” Beca clenches her fists together, heart pounding in her ears. “C’mon.”
“But– how are we supposed to help them?” Chloe asks, even as she limps after Beca.
The brunette shrugs. “I don’t know. I’ll figure it out on the way.”
Emily comes to very slowly. There’s a throbbing pain in her shoulder, but fingers are carding through her hair, gently. Emily groans as the pain worsens the more she wakes up. A whimper slips past her lips an the fingers in her hair still.
“Hey, shhh. It’s okay. I’ve got you.” Stacie’s voice is soft, but thick with tears.
“S-Stacie? What happened?” Emily’s eyes open sluggishly to see Stacie’s tear and dirt stained face above her.
Stacie swallows thickly and brushes a few strands of Emily’s hair from her face. “You passed out from the pain. And then they brought us to this room and untied me.”
Emily turns her head in, what she now realizes is Stacie’s lap, to look around. It’s a small dilapidated, windowless room with an old, stained cot in the corner. She looks back at Stacie and reaches up with her good hand to gently touch at a cut in the brunette’s brow. “What do you think they want with us?”
Her girlfriend’s face goes ashen. “Em–” She hedges shakily. “I– I think they’re cannibals.“
Emily feels her stomach drop. “What else–” She asks, tears burning the back of her throat. “There’s something else you’re not telling me.”
Stacie’s eyes fill with tears and she looks away. “I don’t– I don’t know! I– I saw a lot of things on the way in here.” She croaks.
“Like what?!” Emily prods, trying and failing to keep calm.
Stacie brings her gaze back to Emily’s, before she visibly swallows. “Body parts. And– and a crib.”
“Oh,” Emily feels sick. More sick than she already does. She struggles to sit up, whimpering in pain as Stacie helps her. Her eyes drift over to the cot and she notes she shackles at the head of it, attached to the wall. “Oh, no.”
Stacie just wraps her arms around Emily’s middle and pulls her gently into her lap, but before Emily can settle in her girlfriend’s embrace, there’s a loud commotion in one of the other rooms. Voices.
Voices she recognizes immediately. “Oh, no.”
”Are you sure about this?” Chloe whispers as they watch the house from a few yards away, hidden behind the cover of trees.
Beca works her jaw a few times as she watches what little movement she can see through the broken windows.
Before Beca can say anything, Emily screams something shrill and blood curdling, and it makes Beca’s skin crawl. “No,” She finally answers. “But we can’t leave them. We have to try.”
Beca goes to lead the way, but Chloe stops her. “Wait,” When Beca looks at her questioningly, Chloe leans forward and captures the brunette’s lips in a too short kiss. “I love you.”
A sad smile creases Beca’s lips. “I love you, too.”
And with that, Beca turns and takes the lead. They move slowly, using whatever cover they can find in the forms of trees and bushes, until they reach the porch. Beca makes a mad grab for the hatchet leaning next to the door, while Chloe grabs the wooden baseball bat covered in barbed wire on the stairs.
Taking a few deep, calming breaths, Beca shoves the door open, hatchet raised.
It seems to catch both men off guard, because Beca’s hatchet is slamming down hard into the front of ones’ head, just as he reaches for a bloodied butcher knife sticking out of the table. He never makes it though as his eyes go wide and then the life fades from them, the hatchet sticking out of his forehead.
Behind her, there’s an almost inhumane growl and Chloe’s panic stricken voice. “Beca! Look out!” But Beca reacts too late, and suddenly she’s being thrown across the room, landing on her back with a loud thud. The wind gets knocked out of her and before she can even gasp for a breath, the deformed looking man is standing over her, breathing heavily, a burning rage in his eyes.
He goes to pick her up by the foot when suddenly he’s stumbling to his knees and his arms go up in a defensive motion. Beca’s wide eyes find Chloe with the baseball bat above her head before it comes down on the thing’s back, hard. He grunts and wheezes as he falls to his stomach.
Chloe doesn’t relent, though, as the bat rises high above her head before it comes back down onto his skull. There’s a loud crack and a squelching sound that makes Beca’s stomach turn. Chloe still doesn’t stop, though. It takes Beca getting to her feet and wrapping her arms around the redhead, her hands gripping the neck of the bat and forcing her to let go. “He’s dead.” Beca says gently.
The bat falls to the ground with a loud thud and Chloe turns in Beca’s arms to hug her tightly, a sob falling from her lips. “I–I thought he was going to kill you.”
Beca shushes her gently, rubbing her back. “I’m okay. But we need to find Em and Stacie, before the third thing makes an appearance.”
”D-do you think they’re–” Emily’s voice quakes as they take in the sudden silence.
Just as Stacie goes to reply, the door opens up and to Emily’s (and Stacie’s) relief, there stand Chloe and Beca, looking a little worse for ware, but thankfully– fucking alive.
“Holy shit, dude! What happened?” Beca asks as both she and Chloe move toward Stacie and Emily.
“Arrow.” Stacie supplies as she helps them lift Emily up and to her feet, the younger woman crying out in pain.
“What about you?” Stacie nods to Chloe’s foot and the awkward way she doesn’t put much weight on it.
“Bear trap.” Chloe replies, voice quiet. Emily chews on her lower lip as she takes a moment to steady herself. “Where are–”
”Dead.” Beca says quietly. “We need to get going. The third one is still wandering around out there, and I’d rather not be here when he finds his buddies.”
They all agree on that note and once Beca offers her plaid shirt to help with Emily’s bleeding, they hurry out of the house– everyone silently agreeing not to talk about the jars of body parts in the kitchen, or the blood all over the table. They all hold hands as they make their way through the woods, each of them on high alert.
When they’re a ways away from the house, everything around them quiet, there’s a loud inhumane scream that fills Beca with panic. They redouble their efforts to find their way back.
They make it out of the woods by nightfall, exhausted and grateful. Once in the safety of their car, Stacie grabs her phone from the center console (where they had all left them, because what’s the point in taking them when you don’t have service?) and calls the police.
--
After hours spent at the hospital, having their wounds looked at and recounting the events to the police, the four of them were ready to go home. Emily’s shoulder would be okay, it was cleaned and stitched up, and Chloe’s ankle was thankfully only sprained.
Showers are taken and a quiet dinner is had between them. (Stacie and Emily were staying over at Beca and Chloe’s, none of them really ready to be apart, yet) And then they all go to bed, Beca and Chloe in their room, and Stacie and Emily in the spare.
As Beca lays there, staring up at the ceiling with Chloe curled up into her side, she sighs. “Hey, Chlo?”
“Yeah?” Chloe mumbles, already close to falling asleep, clearly exhausted from the days terrible events.
“Lets never, ever go hiking again.”
“Never.” Chloe agrees.

Chapter Seven:
“F-L-O-W-E-R. Flower.”
“Flower.”
“S-U-N-S-H-I-N-E. Sunshine.”
“Sunshine.”
“You’re catching on quickly, Diana.” Lotte said amazed as Akko was demonstrating signs for Diana to follow. Diana gave a smile.
“At first, I didn’t quite understand, but once we practiced the alphabet, I found it easier.” Diana told them, signing to Akko, “How do you say S-M-I-L-E?”
“Smile.” Akko demonstrated the sign. She beamed when Diana signed to her, “Your smile is like sunshine.” Her cheeks turned pink at the compliment, giggling. Diana flushed in shyness, but found she liked complimenting the girl.
Lotte, Diana, and Akko were having a signing session on the floor of the dorm room Sucy, Akko, and Lotte shared. Sucy was mediating on her bed while the other three were relaxing on the floorboards.
“I like it when Diana smiles.” Akko signed, grinning. “You look a lot more at peace.”
“What was the last sign?” Diana gestured.
“P-E-A-C-E. Peace.” Akko finger spelled and repeated the sign. Diana felt herself warm from the compliment.
“Akko’s right, Diana. You seem more relaxed.” Lotte spoke and signed.
“I… it’s been so long since I got to hang out and just talk to people without being expected to do things for them or uphold an image.” Diana said. Akko looped an arm around her, grinning.
“One of us!” she cheered. Despite her loud tone, no one winced. They found her statement to be very heartfelt, and they agreed with her sentiment.
Sadly though, all things must come to an end.
“I should probably head back. Hannah and Barbara are probably wondering where I am.” Diana rose up from the floor. Sucy cracked her eye open.
“I assume you’ll want to keep it a secret you hung out with us?” she snarked. Nonetheless, she was surprised when Diana shook her head.
“I don’t wish to hide my friendship with you three. If Hannah and Barbara or anyone else doesn’t like it, I don’t care what they think. I’m tired of trying to uphold an image that doesn’t give me any benefits to myself.” Diana explained with conviction. The other three witches smiled at her, proud she was making changes to help herself.
“Will you be back?” Akko signed. Diana gave her a gentle smile, finding her eagerness infectious.
“Yes. I want to learn more about this new form of magic using Sign.” Diana told her, and Akko smiled.
“What should we call it? We should probably come up with a name.” Sucy asked. Lotte looked pensive.
“How about ‘Sign Casting’? It’s simple and catchy.” Lotte answered, beaming at them in excitement. The others nodded in approval, glee at their discovery of this new form of magic.
“Sounds good.” Diana said and signed. With that, she departed their dorm room, leaving the three witches behind.
“Ah! I didn’t realize it was that late.” Lotte said, noticing the time. The sky outside was dark and the moon shined brightly in the night. The three of them hurriedly got changed into their pajamas and climbed into their beds. Sucy and Lotte set forth on going to sleep. Akko, however, took shelter under her covers, Birdy-san and her sharing a look before she stuck her tongue out in concentration.
“LIGHT” she signed, a small spark coming forth, but dying quickly. She huffed, not one to be discouraged, and began practicing again.
---------------------------
“Light…” Akko signed tiredly, a spark sizzling out. She didn’t know how long she was awake for, but she was determined to produce a light that could sustain itself until she said so. She figured out a lot of visualization and feeling went into the casting, and if one didn’t perfect their visualization, or the feelings that went into it, it wasn’t going to work. It was also important to make sure the sign is precise when casting.
She figured once someone honed those skills, Sign Casting could become like second nature like any oral incantation. Sign Language was ingrained in her like muscle memory—she just needed to get skilled in imaging and feeling.
Akko began dozing off, eyes shutting of their own accord. Birdy-san pecked her to keep her awake. Akko squeaked quietly, startled, but patted Birdy-san when she found he was trying to help her stay awake. She prepared herself to sign again, but a glow outside of her blanket fort caught her eye. She uncovered herself, and she found herself face-to-face with a green glow, floating in the middle of the room. She got up from her bed, creeping closer to it, reaching to touch it, but the light then moved swiftly towards the window, beckoning her.
Akko put on her sneakers, curious about the glow, and Birdy-san quickly flew to her head to prevent her from going alone. She sneaked towards the door and exited, making sure to do everything softly so she didn’t wake Sucy and Lotte.
Racing outside, Akko shivered when she realized she didn’t have a jacket but kept going to where the light at her window was. Arriving at the foot of the window, the glow noticed her and flew away, beseeching her to follow. Akko narrowed her eyes in determination, pursuing the ball of light. This could be the sign from the Shiny Rod she was looking for! Maybe finally the voice wanted to speak to her and give her answers!
‘Maybe I should’ve woken up Sucy and Lotte…’ Akko thought, but shook her head. It’s too late now and she was going to see this through. She could do things herself—she didn’t always need Lotte and Sucy to protect her. She was beginning to feel like a constant burden towards them because they hovered over her so much because of everyone’s treatment of her. ‘I’m a big girl! Just like I told Kaa-san and Tou-san! I’m capable just like anyone else!’
Birdy-san squirmed on her head, realizing they were walking further into the woods, away from the dorm. Akko cooed at him, trying to reassure the stuffed bird that everything was fine. The glow beckoned her further, flying around in hurried movements to make her go faster. Urgency filled her, and her heart pounded in anticipation.
Finally, after a while, Akko and Birdy-san found themselves surrounded by trees. Akko figured this must be a desolate part of the school grounds as only the moon served as a source of illumination. The glow stopped short, sizzling out at last, and Akko was left with only the moon to light up her way.
“Voice?” she asked, searching around. She stepped forward, squinting her eyes. Suddenly, something tightened around her leg, yanking her upward. Birdy-san was flung from her head, flapping to safety as Akko screamed. She found herself hanging upside down from a tree branch, the blood rushing to her head.
She frantically searched, trying to find an enemy, and her eyes widened when she caught sight of three Luna Nova students revealing themselves from the bushes. Akko could barely make out their green sashes, and the tall one looked like she was laughing in delight while the big pink haired girl was munching on chips and the small blue haired girl had a stoic expression.
“Help!” Akko cried, hoping her voice would get their attention. They glanced up at her and the tall one appeared to be laughing. Akko squinted, frustrated she couldn’t read any of their lips as they talked to each other.
-------------------
“Wow! Can’t believe that was so easy!” Amanda grinned, surveying the caught Akko. She turned to Constanze. “Nice trap, Constanze!”
The blue haired girl gave her a thumbs up. Jasminka continued to munch on her chips. Amanda then directed her attention towards Akko.
“Hey you! We got you in our trap now so you gotta do what we say!” Amanda told the trapped witch. However, Akko continued crying for help and struggling. Amanda sweat-dropped. “Right… she can’t hear. Whoops.”
“Maybe she’ll calm down if we give her food?” Jasminka suggested.
--------------
Akko watched them talking to each other and her eyes narrowed in realization. They weren’t here to help her—they were the ones that captured her! She immediately set forth to trying to free herself from the rope, but the clamp was tight. She readied her hands, the image of a sliced rope clear in her mind, desperation flooding to her finger-tips.
“CUT” she signed. The rope was sliced by an invisible force, and Akko plummeted to the ground. She maneuvered herself so she landed on her stomach, propping herself up quickly even though she was in immense pain, and propelled forward into a sprint.
Nevertheless, her victory was short-lived as tiny robots blocked her path of escape, their flashing lights shining angrily at her. She pivoted herself towards another direction, but more robots came to stop her. A hand clamped itself on her shoulder and she turned, swinging her fist forward. Her fist landed on its intended target and the tall one doubled over. Ropes burst from the robots, capturing her and rendering her hands useless at her sides. Her crimson eyes were like an inferno, glaring at the three witches. The witches lit up their wands, the small girl producing a flashlight instead.
“Damn, that was some punch.” The tall one’s lips read, wiping her bloody lip with an impressed grin. The pink haired witch just had a smile on her face as she ate snacks, and the smallest one had the same stoic expression on her face. “We should’ve accounted for her using her magic to free herself.” The tall one said to her companion.
I miscalculated she could be sharp when in turmoil. The small girl wrote on her chalk board. Akko’s eyes widened.
‘She’s mute!’ Akko realized, recalling being told about another witch at the academy with a disability who was using magitek instead of actual magic due to not being able to incant. ‘How did she make all these robots?’
Her attention was called back to the tall girl as the orange and red-haired girl grasped her chin, and Akko focused on her lips as she talked.
“Relax. We mean no harm. We just needed to use your services with that nifty Sign Casting.” The girl told her, and Akko’s eyes expanded at the information. How did they know about Sign Casting?!
‘They must’ve spied on us!’ Akko concluded in fury, struggling against her restraints. She spat in the girl’s face, and instead of backing off, the girl was amused and patted Akko on the head like she was a little kid who she was fond of.
“Man! You are just a treat!” the tall girl appeared to have said. Her bright green eyes sparked with mischief. “You’re just what we need.”
--------------
Birdy-san observed from the shadows, watching the three witches lead Akko away from the woods towards their destination. He flapped towards where Sucy and Lotte were frantically to get help.
-----------------
Akko glared at the tall witch’s back as her kidnappers lead her what appeared to be the town where the Leyline station was. She glanced down at the cuffs in dismay as she felt all her magic seeped from her. The small blue haired girl presented her a chalk board.
They’re cuffs that lock up magical reserves. You can’t use any Sign Casting until we removed them. It said. She handed Akko the chalk board and chalk, in order to communicate with her.
You’re mute. Akko wrote. It wasn’t a question. She handed the board back to the smaller girl.
And you’re deaf. Was her response.
If you know that, then why are you preventing me from signing? That’s how I talk. You wouldn’t like it if someone took away your chalk board, would you? Akko wrote annoyed. The girl read her response and it appeared to have affected her.
I’m sorry. We just don’t want you escaping. The small girl wrote, a sincere shine in her eyes, I’m Constanze. Jasminka’s the one eating chips and Amanda’s the loud one.
Akko snorted and pointed to her ears, and Constanze understood what exactly she wrote.
Sorry. She’s the one who you punched.
Thanks.
I’m not used to communicating with someone who has a disability like me. I’m so used to everyone being fully functional.
You ARE fully functional. Akko passionately wrote, jamming her finger onto the statement to emphasize. And so am I! Just because I can’t hear, and you can’t speak doesn’t mean that we’re less capable than anyone else.
But I can’t do proper magic… here Constanze furrowed her brow in irritation at her handicap. Akko speedily wrote down her response.
But you learned another way that is good for you! Just because Magitek isn’t traditional doesn’t mean it’s a weaker form. You can control robots! As far as I am concerned that is pretty impressive! She presented the board to Constanze with an encouraging grin. The girl looked shocked.
No one’s ever praised me for using Magitek besides these two. Constanze told her. Akko’s eyes widened.
But it’s so cool! Akko wrote.
You three are the only ones to think so… A dejected glint appeared in Constanze’s eyes and Akko wondered how many times Constanze has been rejected because she was different. She remembered when she came to Luna Nova and how everyone acted with her besides Lotte and Sucy, and she found she empathized with the smaller girl. She had been only dealing with it for a short time, but Constanze was here longer, and therefore had to put up with others putting her down because she couldn’t cast traditionally more. Akko reached out, grasping the girl’s hands, resolve stirring within her. She gently took the chalk board from Constanze with her permission, jotting down her response.
Would you like to learn Sign Casting?
Constanze’s eyes widened, gazing at her. In that moment, all Akko saw was a vulnerable girl who just wanted to fit in with her peers but was so hardened by rejection that she began pushing others away except for Amanda and Jasminka—she knew then she was making the right decision.
You are aware I kidnapped you against your will, yes? Constanze wrote, making sure Akko didn’t damage her brain from her fall earlier.
I am very much aware here Akko laughed a bit as she held up her bound hands. But you want to help your friend, and I’m the way to do it. I can’t say if Sucy or Lotte needed me for something, I would outright say no either. You must love Amanda a lot to follow her, even if she’s doing something bad. She wrote.
It’s just for a dumb broom rally. Amanda wants to beat Diana. Constanze rolled her eyes. Akko scoffed.
Well that explains why she’s crazy enough to do a kidnapping to do it. Diana is good on a broom. Akko praised Diana, remembering her skills on a broom. She hoped one day she would be able to be that talented in broom work like her. I’m not sabotaging Diana’s broom though so you’re out of luck. Akko refused to hurt her new friend.
No, Amanda just wants you to steal something. Constanze explained. Akko furrowed her brow in confusion.
Like what? She asked. Constanze scribbled out her reply.
A broom that’s so fast it’s said to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean in one go. It doesn’t need the magic from the sorcerer’s stone to fly either.
Akko’s had a shocked expression on her face. A broom that didn’t need the magic of the Sorcerer’s Stone? That sounded like a very powerful broom.
The store has magical wards that can detect wand magic, but if you use Sign Casting, you might be able to get passed the security measures. Constanze told her. I promise we’ll let you go as soon as you get the Shooting Star.
And if I refuse? Akko wrote. Constanze shrugged.
Amanda said something about “or else” but never specified. I believe her words were “I’m so awesome she’ll just do it.” Here Constanze gave Akko her usual deadpan stare.
I see. Akko sweat dropped.
If you do this, we’ll keep quiet about your Sign Casting. Finnelan would probably have an aneurysm and try to get you expelled for “butchering tradition.”  Constanze promised. Akko rolled her eyes, snorting.
While I would normally decline since I could care less about Finnelan, I don’t want Sucy, Lotte, and Diana to go down with me. Sign Casting is still new—the less eyes on us the better. Akko agreed. She gave the smaller witch a sincere look My offer still stands regardless. You wanna learn Sign Casting just say the word.
Why? Constanze asked, gazing at her in suspicion. You have no reason to teach me.
Akko took the offered chalkboard, scribbling out her reply, her eyes passionate.
I know what it’s like to be trapped in your own head, not being able to properly communicate with the world. She presented the board to Constanze before erasing and resumed writing more. Believing in Chariot helped me break out of my cage—showed me I still have a voice and that I’m not alone as long as I believe in myself. I want to show others that they aren’t alone either! My belief is my magic after all! Chariot showed me that!
Constanze stared at her in disbelief. The brown-haired witch’s gaze did not waver, her conviction clear on her face.
You’re a strange one. Constanze wrote. Finally, they came to a stop in front of a shop. Akko noticed it was some kind of magic shop. Amanda guided them in the shadows and lit up her wand.
“Okay, Miss Sign Caster,” Amanda began, Akko reading her lips. “I want you to unlock the door and take down all the wards. When that’s done, you come out and let us in.” Amanda ordered. Akko sighed dejectedly, knowing she couldn’t do anything until they removed her cuffs. Amanda grinned, seeing Akko nod, and patted Constanze on the head. “Don’t bother trying to run cause Constanze will send her robots after you. Got it?”
Akko nodded, holding out her restrained wrists impatiently. Once free, she felt her magic surging through her like a sudden adrenaline rush. Then she made her way to the entrance begrudgingly.
“Hey Constanze,” Amanda leaned down, whispering. “You two seemed really chatty on the way here. What were you talking about?” she asked.
She offered to teach me Sign Casting. Constanze wrote. Amanda’s eyes widened, but then a grin overtook her face.
“Really? Wow, she’s a good sport! You interested?” Amanda inquired. Constanze looked torn. “You seem to be thinking really hard. She say anything else?”
Not really anything worth you knowing… Constanze replied.
-----------------
Sucy groaned, swatting at the point that was jabbing her. Her red eyes cracked open, preparing to smite the object. Yet, when she saw it was Birdy-san, she woke up fully. Usually, Birdy-san slept with Akko.
‘Akko better not be waking me for something dumb.’ She thought waspishly.
“Hey Akko! Tell Birdy-san to go to bed.” Sucy ordered, turning her head to face Akko’s bed so the girl could read her lips. Nevertheless, her eyes widened when she saw Akko wasn’t there. “Akko?” she called, despite the fact that Akko wouldn’t hear her, looking around to find her. Birdy-san pecked her forehead hard, Sucy wincing, deciding to throw him but he flew to the open window away from her, pointing his beak towards outside. A sense of forbidding filled Sucy as she quickly got up from her bed to approach Birdy-san. “Where’s Akko, Birdy-san?”
Birdy-san continued to point towards the horizon. Alarm seized Sucy at the implied message. She hurriedly climbed up to Lotte’s bed, shaking her.
“Wake up, Lotte!” Sucy urged. Lotte groaned, tiredly sitting up and rubbing her eyes.
“Sucy? What’s going on?” Lotte yawned, stretching.
“Akko’s missing. Birdy-san woke me up and is frantically pointing outside.” Sucy replied with a severe expression. Immediately, Lotte sprung up at Sucy’s words.
“Akko’s gone?! Where is she?” Lotte panicked, retrieving her glasses.
“I don’t know, but Birdy-san might.” Sucy said. The two speedily threw on bath robes, grabbing their brooms and wands.
“It’s dark! How are we supposed to locate her with just the two of us?” Lotte fretted. Sucy grabbed a shirt of Akko’s.
“We’re not. Diana has the largest range with tracking and detection spells. Let’s go get her.”
“Oh right! Good idea!”
They exited their dorm room, Birdy-san in tow, and crept through the hallways as quickly, yet silently, as possible. Arriving at Diana’s dorm, Lotte hastily knocked over and over until a cross Barbara answered. She glared when she saw who it was.
“What do you two want? Leave before I call the professors!” Barbara commanded. Lotte glared back, preparing to fire out a retort, but Sucy jumped in.
“We need Diana. Akko’s missing.”
“Ha! And why should I care—Ack!”
Barbara was promptly shoved out of the way revealing a disheveled Diana.
“Akko’s missing? What happened?” she demanded.
“We don’t know. It happened when we were sleeping. Birdy-san came to get us.” Sucy shrugged.
“Birdy-san?” Diana blinked.
“Her animated plush Sucy made for her.” Lotte supplied.
“I see. Well, let’s go then.” Diana said, retrieving a bath robe, her broom, and her wand. Barbara recovered from Diana’s assault and spluttered.
“D-Diana, are you serious? Why would you help that—”
“Say anything against Akko and I will not associate with you anymore, Barbara!” Diana threatened. Barbara clamped her mouth shut immediately. Diana than left with Sucy and Lotte, leaving a shell-shocked Barbara behind.
“Did that just happen?” Hannah asked Barbara, just as confused.
-----------------------
“Do you have something of Akko’s?” Diana asked the two as they left the dorm building. Sucy held up the shirt she took. She grimaced at the odor, pinching her nose.
“She’s gotta stop binging on pickled plums…” Sucy commented. Diana prepared her wand.
“Semita!” she casted. The shirt glowed green, a thread of light springing out and connecting to where Akko was.
“Tia Freyre!” they cried, their brooms launching from the ground. They followed the thread.
----------------------
Meanwhile, Akko was examining the lock, pondering what to do. She was incredibly tired. Would her Sign Casting even work? She was extremely exhausted and had been using it excessively.
‘Well, I don’t really have another option’ Akko thought, squaring her shoulders. She had to protect her friends just like they have protected her. She took a deep breath, relaxing her posture. Her mind zeroed in on the lock, imagining it unlatching for her. ‘Come on! I’m tired!’ Akko poured all her frustration and fatigue into her signing.
“UNLOCK” she signed. However, instead of simply unlocking, the entire lock and door knob blew clean off. She yelped, dodging the flying metal.
‘Guess I put a little too much annoyance into it…’ Akko sweat dropped. She cautiously reached forward, pushing the door open, the moonlight flooding in from the outside. She made sure to take soft steps in the establishment, the door swinging shut behind her. She squeaked, darkness overtaking her sight. She huffed, bringing her hands forward.
“LIGHT” she quickly signed, sparks erupting from the air, allowing her to catch a quick view of the shop before going out. Akko growled. Seems like she still couldn’t sustain a glow…
She held her hands out forward, feeling her way around to where the Shooting Star would hopefully be. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness, finding odd trinkets and potion ingredients on the shelves. She made sure she was careful with how she walked around, not wanting to break anything or sound an alarm.
Her hand landed on a glass case, and she moved closer to inspect it. Though, she jumped away when the case violently rattled. Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest at the sudden movement. She warily approached the case, placing her face closer to inspect it. She squinted, making out the shape of a broom. She pressed her face against the glass, eyes roaming over the silhouette of the what she assumed was the Shooting Star.
The case rattled intensely again. Akko cried as she fell back and landed on her butt. She propped herself up with her hands, staring in apprehension of the glass case. She screamed when a flashlight suddenly illuminated the room, and Akko whipped her head around to see Amanda, Constanze, and Jasminka, the former two gazing down at her impatiently.
“Remove the wards already! You’re taking too long.” Amanda’s lips read. Akko turned back to the trembling case, eyes taking in the chained-up broom for the first time. It was struggling against its restraints greatly, but the chains wouldn’t budge. Akko’s eyes widened.
‘The broom’s alive!’ she realized shocked. Her eyes narrowed then, fury stirring within her. ‘They’re keeping it a prisoner!’ She quickly got up from the floorboards and glared at the three witches.
“Broom Alive!” she informed them, angry at the treatment of it. Amanda scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“Of course it’s alive! It doesn’t need the sorcerer’s stone! And I’m going to be its new owner!” Amanda grinned in anticipation.
“Its choice?” Akko hissed. Amanda blinked and then grinned.
“Like it would want anything else! It’s rebellious! It would bond great with a rebellious rider who understands it.” Amanda explained to her, shrugging. She approached the case and knocked on it. The case’s—the cage, Akko growled—response was another shake, startling the bi-colored haired girl. Akko glanced between Amanda and the Shooting Star.
“Should be free! Let it choose!” Akko shouted, and the three witches grimaced at her volume. Amanda glared at her.
“Hey, keep it down! I know you can’t hear but you’re going to wake up the town. Brooms are meant to be ridden—a broom without a rider is just ridiculous.” Amanda whispered loudly. Akko’s cheeks flushed brightly in fury, her fists clenched at her sides when she read Amanda’s lips. “Now undo the wards before you take it out.”
Akko’s eye twitched. She felt blood on her palms from how deep her nails were pressing. She whipped her head to glare at Constanze.
“You know? Don’t like your cage—think broom likes it?” Akko snarled at the small girl. Constanze’s eyes widened a fraction at the way Akko addressed her, the open scorn from someone who was so friendly with her earlier a shock. “Coward! Break free! Broom like us! Can free it like us!” Akko yelled, making sure she was as loud as she could be.
“Quiet!” Amanda hissed. Jasminka just surveyed the situation worriedly. The cage rattled even louder now, seeming to rally at Akko’s words. Amanda brought out her wand to protect themselves in case the broom broke out. Akko gritted her teeth, wanting the cage to shatter, and the energy zapped towards her finger tips.
“BREAK” Akko signed. The cage shattered. The shrill sound of the alarm blared.
“No!” Amanda cried, casting up a shield to keep Jasminka, Constanze, and herself safe. The Shooting Star shot out like a bullet, dragging its cage with it. The chain caught Akko, and she was yanked screaming outside into the sky with the Shooting Star.
“Ugh! Come on! We gotta go after that broom!” Amanda urged them. However, as she ran for the doorway in pursuit, robots blocked her path. Amanda whipped her head around to look at Constanze in flabbergasted.
“No. We flee before cops show up.” The bot spoke for Constanze. Amanda gawked as Jasminka looked at Constanze curiously. The alarms were shrill around them. Then they caught wind of sirens approaching.
“Argh! Fine! Let’s go!” Amanda conceded. They quickly fled the magic shop.
--------------------
Akko clung onto the chain for dear life. The wind was violently whipping against her face like a cold slap over and over. She yelped at the speed and altitude they were going. Akko gazed up at the Shooting Star increasing speed.
“Stop!” Akko cried. The broom simply went faster, the chain swinging widely. Akko shouted as she was flung up into the air and landed on the Shooting Star, the chain snapping off right after she let go of it. She clutched the head clamp tightly, heart beating erratically in her chest.
“Please stop!” Akko begged. Then she glared in determination, positioning herself as shown to her in class, and tried commanding the broom to yield to her.
Yet, the velocity of the Shooting Star was so intense that the head clamp couldn’t endure her holding onto it. Akko’s eyes widened in panic while she watched helplessly while the head clamp breaking apart. Everything went in slow motion then until everything sped up and she was tossed into the air, plunging towards the ground screaming at the top of her lungs.
However, her fall was cut short as a hand grabbed her, her body recoiling harshly. Her eyes were clenched tight, not bearing to watch herself come closer and closer to the ground. Noticing she wasn’t falling anymore, she cracked her eyes open hesitantly before they snapped open at the realization she was saved. She turned her head and ruby met aquamarine.
“Daiyana!” Akko cried happily. Diana held her wrist tightly, smiling down at her in relief. Sucy and Lotte were also there, hastily flying to her assist her in getting on Diana’s broom. Once settled, Akko clutched Diana snuggly around the waist.
“Akko! You’re safe!” Lotte signed. Akko nodded, still shaken from her near-death experience.
“We should take her back to the dorm.” Sucy advised.
“One moment. I would like a word with those three.” Diana hissed, zeroing in on Amanda, Constanze, and Jasminka below. Lotte took Akko onto her broom, so Diana could pursue them, Sucy quickly following while Lotte went slower for Akko’s sake.
Amanda yelped when Diana landed right in front of her, not expecting Luna Nova’s Pride and Joy to be staring at her with her coldest stare.
“What are you three doing out so late?” Diana demanded. Amanda tried to play it cool.
“Could say the same for you, Princess, but then again I guess we all don’t get special privileges.” Amanda jabbed. Vines launched from the ground, capturing her, making the bi-colored haired girl exclaim, “What the hell?!”
“Answer her.” Sucy commanded, storing the remaining potion contents in her pocket.
“You were the ones that kidnapped Akko!” Lotte arrived, Birdy-san pointing at them accusingly from her head. Diana and Sucy’s glares were like ice, and the Green Team gulped when their gazes were directed at them.
“You make it sound so criminal—we more borrowed her…” Amanda tried to explain, but the vines tightened. “C-Constanze! Get me out of here!”
“You kinda deserve it.” Constanze’s bot spoke. Jasminka nodded. A vein throbbed on Amanda’s temple.
“H-Hey don’t you two try to pin this one on me!” Amanda protested.
“Then who’s idea was it?!” Diana snarled. Sucy’s eye glinted and the vines encased Amanda even more.
“Please excuse Amanda.” Jasminka implored, not snacking for once. “We went along with it, so we would all like to take responsibility.”
“I see.” Diana said. “So, you three would like a punishment together. Is that it?”
“What?! No way!” Amanda whined, struggling against the vines. “Diana, don’t you dare do anything to Jasminka and Constanze!”
“Why should we spare them when you took one of our teammates and didn’t give her any courtesy?” Sucy asked. Amanda glared.
“Because it was my idea! They went along with it cause they’re my friends!” Amanda exclaimed. “I won’t let my teammates suffer for something I did!”
“Enough!” Akko signed, stepping in front of Amanda, Constanze, and Jasminka, shielding them from her friends. “It’s fine! They didn’t hurt me!” she hand gestured.
“Akko, they kidnapped you!” Lotte protested, signing and speaking so everyone else could understand. “What if they do it again?”
“They won’t.” Akko promised signing. “They just wanted to win some stupid broom rally and needed me to steal the Shooting Star broom.” She signed. Lotte translated.
“Steal?!” Diana exclaimed. She zeroed in on the Green Team. “You were planning to cheat!”
“Cheating is a strong word. I would say more of bending the rules.” Amanda grinned. Diana’s eye twitched, readying her wand to blast Amanda, but Akko stopped her.
“No more.” Akko commanded with a firm tone. One of Constanze’s bots approached her and handed her a communicator.
“This is one of Constanze’s coms. She wants you to have it in case you are ever in trouble and need us as penance for kidnapping you.” Jasminka said. Lotte signed for Akko what Jasminka said. Akko nodded, clutching the com close to her. She walked over to Constanze, who gazed at her in return.
Sorry. You were right. Constanze wrote on her board. Akko smiled, reading Constanze’s words. She signed and spoke.
“Thank you.”
“Akko, are you sure?” Diana signed. Akko nodded. Diana sighed, giving a glare to the Green Team. Sucy released Amanda. “You’re free to go.”
“Sweet! Thanks a lot Miss Sign Caster! I knew we’d grow on you!” Amanda looped an arm around Akko, who had a vein throb at her temple at the fact that Amanda was being so touchy with her after she put her through crap. She maneuvered out of Amanda’s hold.
“We will keep quiet about Sign Casting.” Constanze’s robot promised.
“Yeah, we won’t tell anyone.” Jasminka agreed.
“I guess I’m outnumbered.” Amanda picked her ear and sighed. “Fine! We’ll keep quiet about your little project! I do illegal stuff all the time, so I can’t really judge.” Amanda shrugged. “Anyways, I don’t need a special broom to beat you Diana! I’ll thrash you with my own skills!” Amanda proclaimed, placing her hands on her hips proudly. Diana gave her a dead pan stare.
“Please go away.” The blonde stated.
Jasminka, Amanda, and Constanze waved as they retreated. Diana, Sucy, Lotte, and Akko watched them go, happy the ordeal was over. Akko jumped when Diana, Sucy, and Lotte directed their sharp gazes at her.
“Akko, how did they kidnap you?” Lotte signed and spoke. Akko answered, not knowing what was with them.
“They sent a glow to our room and I followed it and they set up a trap.” She signed. Lotte translated. Sucy’s eye widened.
“Why would you follow something that was so obviously a trap?” Sucy demanded. Since it was dark, it was hard to read lips unless she was close to them, so Lotte signed the whole conversation to make sure Akko understand.
“I thought it was the Shiny Rod trying to talk to me.” Akko signed, not liking the expression on their faces.
“Then why not take Shiny Rod with you? Why leave yourself defenseless?” Sucy countered, placing her hands at her hips. When Lotte signed out Sucy’s words, Akko sweat dropped.
“Right… that is a good point.” Akko signed back.
“You have to be careful more, Akko.” Diana signed and spoke. Akko narrowed her eyes.
“I’m not a kid! I know how to take care of myself!” Akko furiously signed. “I am not glass! You guys act like I can’t take it, but I’m just like anyone else!” she gestured lividly.
“Akko… we don’t do these things because we think you can’t handle it.” Lotte signed and spoke. “We care about you and want to shoulder your burdens as well. That’s what friends do.”
“You are our friend. We want us to be your strength just like you’re ours.” Diana spoke, Lotte signing for her. Diana walked closer, taking Akko’s hand and intertwining their fingers. Akko was stunned.
“You’re so dumb.” Sucy complained, but she had a fond smile on her face, taking Akko’s other hand. “You don’t have to do it all alone anymore—that’s what we mean when we show you we care. Don’t forget it, dummy.”
‘Not alone…’ Akko thought, realizing that for once, she didn’t always have to place everything on her own shoulders anymore. It wasn’t just the memory and philosophy of Chariot’s words keeping her company now. She could finally share her troubles. Back in Japan, she talked to people, but no one had really taken to her or her them despite their friendly deposition. A smile blossomed on her face, feeling warm.
‘I’m not alone anymore.’

I think it goes without saying that Sharon and I were well-aware of the infamous town of Alton, IL for quite some time due to our extended ghost-hunting research. The only detail daunting us from execution was the 5 hour drive down state. It wasn’t until Ghost Adventures recently released a few episodes investigating the spooked town that our fire was fueled! The itinerary was, shortly thereafter, drawn up (thanks to Sharon) with inclusions of Saint Louis, Missouri as well.
Tumblr media
Our journey jump-started at a departure of 7:30 a.m. With freshly burned CDs in tow for music accompaniment, we headed out the door with much excitement. First stop – Grafton, Illinois to check in early to our hotel, Ruebel Hotel where we had prebooked an allegedly haunted room #11. Driving into the small town, we noted but dismissed several ‘road closed’ signs as they had no effect on our commute to the hotel. Upon speaking with Moe at the front desk, we were informed that our check-in was actually scheduled for the night before and that our reservation was for 2 nights? Whoops! This conversation had taken place a few weeks earlier as I recall trying to verify this detail with Sharon who assured me we were only staying for 1 (she later redacted and apologized for miss-remembering). In any case, we checked out our room very briefing concluding it didn’t ‘feel’ haunted before heading back out to soothe our aching bellies. Next stop? Grafton Harbor for food and drinks!
On the way to the car Sharon scoffed at her GPS. “This wants us to go all the way around which is 18 minutes, but it’s a 7 minute walk!” We prepared to depart but happened to look back at a ‘road closed’ sign which now made sense. It was then that we noticed the backdrop to our hotel – high waters submerging the streets below it. “Guess that’s why it’s telling me to go this other way” Sharon concluded. Leaving with minimal annoyance, we made our way to a flooded roadway of unpredictable depth. Sharon reluctantly backed the car up to return back the way we came, only to notice several cars behind us. “Wait, wait, wait, let’s see what they’re going to do” she said. So we sat and waited as one ballsy car at a time drove through the wading tides to the other side. We watched in awe and terror. And while tempting, decided in the end, it wasn’t worth it. The panic, that is. So no food.
Venturing forward with a slight chip on our shoulders, we skipped to our next scheduled stop: Piasa Bird. As Sharon drove along the shoreline we continued our perfect view of the high waters. We also noted several barriers stating ‘road closed – local traffic only’ which Sharon concluded didn’t apply to us for some reason. Bi-passing without a thought, we continued our journey hoping upon hope that there was indeed an end in sight as there was really no way of turning back on this one-way road. As we anti-climatically reached the Piasa Bird and climbed out of the car, our enthusiasm dwindled as we both half-heartedly took turns reading the backstory to it. I can’t even recall it now (and this occurred yesterday) so clearly, it was too much detail for my a.d.d. brain or just uninteresting. You decide. A couple photos later, we jumped back into the car and headed to the downtown area of Alton, Illinois!
Next stop? My Just Desserts! The thing is, we hadn’t even had what I refer to as ‘normal’ food yet so by the time we got to this little town and found the joint, I didn’t care much for pie or baked goods. I’ll also blame my questionable stomach but we ended up splitting a spinach, bacon, and chicken salad with an amazing poppyseed vinaigrette that Sharon ended up purchasing. Having fed the hunger demons, our demeanors quickly simmered. The majority of our ‘activities’ for the town were based around the local shopping area. We visiting the Mineral Springs Antique Mall where we saw some gorgeous ceiling-lined umbrellas and had far too much fun in the Historic Museum of Torture Devices! Several random shops later, Sharon had a Doodle Bear ($1.50) and I, an awesome corduroy hippie dress (definitely not $1.50). Shopper high complete, we now made our way to Elijah P. Lovejoy Monument or what I’ll refer to as, ‘pretty cemetery’ for all intent and purposes.
Cemeteries. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all and if you’re Sharon, they’re all ‘pretty’ so there’s really not much to say about the stop. Literally. We can move along now. To St. Louis, specifically.
Now my only recollection of St. Louis, Missouri was occasionally visiting childhood friends of my family ‘back in the day.’ That and it being hot as balls during the summertime. Outside of that, nada. First and most regrettable stop – Gateway Arch. So I guess it’s a thing now that you can ‘ride’ inside an elevator to the top? Sounded cool. SOUNDED. Foreshadow much? Anyway, after a confusing debacle over the ‘parking’ situation ie. being in a ghetto ally and asking a random ‘officer’ looking dude for assistance, we parked in a nearby garage and walked over to the grassy grove encompassing the Arch. I wont knock the splendor of the shining sight and absorbing all the un-obnoxious people enjoying themselves around us, however, I WILL take a few jabs at our attempts at finding the goddamn entrance to the illusive ‘ride.’ There was no ‘pot of gold’ at the end of either rainbow for these unlucky leprechauns. It wasn’t until we actually FOLLOWED the random arrows painted on the ground that we discovered an underground mound. Victoriously entering the ticket line, I glanced at the pricing monitor: ‘Trams sold out for the day.’ Mother****! ALL that effort. Though I will add that we mysteriously ended up departing our parking garage without paying which I can only assume was karma’s apology to us.
So now what? BOOZE. Much much deserved BOOZE. A quick ride took us to Brick River Cider where we were greeted immediately and provided with an oratory comparison of all draft ciders. Sharon and I settled on different, favorable choices which resulted in a growler and 6-pack for the homefront. With inebriation healing past wounds, we moved ahead to the City Museum of St. Louis. Sharon had briefed me on this but I couldn’t recall much – save for it looking interesting.
Upon arriving to the City Museum of St. Louis and parking across the street, you could see a whole, structural display on the very top of the building which we hoped would be open for the season (it wasn’t). You could also see and hear the shrills of lots and lots of children playing outside on the interactive displays. Normally this would put me off but the booze had muted the sounds and annoyance for the moment. I suppose I should take this time to mention Sharon’s wardrobe change from a dress into a different dress with pants for what she claimed was ‘comfort’ purposes. Entering this playground from hell, I can only describe it as a poor man’s attempt at a children’s Meow Wolf inside the locker room of a YMCA. Between the chaotic amount of children, the dingy apparatuses and the confusing layout (which was suppose to be a ‘schtick’ of exploration’), sobriety became king. I’d like to also point out that the main form of ‘travel’ was through slides and tunnels – the likes of which were most inconvenient for probably the only individual at this place wearing a dress! Still, I attempted to ‘play nice’ and took a turn on a ‘slide’ which I’m fairly sure, resulted in me flashing one very happy man (he owes me at lease $5 for that). Fixated on annoyance, we didn’t last long and decided our only salvation now was food.
We chose to eat at Square One Brewery & Distillery solely based on my pre-researched discovered of them having a goat-cheese artichoke dip appetizer which was the best part of the entire meal. My salmon with potatoes and broccoli was beyond basic (shame on you) and Sharon’s ‘barbecue’ pork sandwich tasted of funky, spiced ketchup (I still can’t believe she ate as much of it as she did after trying it myself). The only saving grace to this most egregious meal was our next stop down the street – Bailey’s Chocolate Bar. Surely, no wrong can come of chocolate!
This cute little bar was situated atop an escalating stairway into a dim, intimate dining area. The menu consisted of ice cream booze drinks, booze drinks, or desserts. Both deciding upon ice creamed, booze martinis, we partook in some mini, complimentary chocolate chip cookies which were divine! Drinks were strong AND delicious. I’ve actually never heard Sharon confess something to be ‘dangerous’ so many times.
Feeling much better after chocolate intoxication, the only thing left now was to continue boozing for the remainder of the evening! We headed over to W Karaoke Lounge which I had previously researched and observed a super cool looking ‘performance’ floor that lit up beneath the performers. We stayed just long enough for me to get one rendition of ‘Just a Girl’ in and finished up one drink before moving along to the next booze endeavor.
Thaxton Speakeasy. Another place I had previously researched which looked super cool inside. We arrived a few minutes after the place ‘opened’ and were met by an older gentleman outside the door advising us that the place was closed for a private party. Goddamnit! Foiled again! Guess we didn’t need that drink. Onto the next!
Our last stop for the night was at The Monocle & The Emerald Room where we had purchased tickets to a see a Burlesque show a few ladies I knew were in. We sat, drank and bided our time for an hour and a half – despite the show time scheduled for 10pm. Once 10:30pm hit and the performances began, we knew we wouldn’t last long. Sharon’s mentality drastically switch from ‘if your friends are in the second half, we have to stay’ to ‘yeah, I’m sorry, no, if they’re not on the first half, too bad, I’m tired.’ We were glad to stand in line next to a super buzzed, hilariously friendly gentleman who had absolutely no filter. The theater gods granted us the delight of seeing my wonderful friends during the first half of the show after which we immediately took our exit for the long journey (hour) back to our hotel in Grafton, Illinois.
Suffice it to say, we were absolutely exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel. Ironically, I had a difficult time falling asleep after falsely identifying paranormal activity of my toiletries. My heart was literally in my throat for quite some time. I could hear Sharon had no problem getting to sleep. At some point, tossing and turning throughout the night, I caught some portion of sleep and roused at the usual, ungodly hour of 7am Tired still but forcing the will to journey for more immediate comfort at home, we showered, packed and departed in optimal time. Discovering no roadside coffee availability nearby, save gas station coffee, we waiting patiently (2 hours) for the reward of Dunkin Donuts. I took the reigns for the rest of the drive home and played road tag with a Kia whom I’m not sure when I divulged from. I can only hope that some day – definitely not today – definitely not tomorrow but in the very, very distant future, we may meet again in St. Louis.
Meet Me In St. Louis Or Rather, Don’t I think it goes without saying that Sharon and I were well-aware of the infamous town of Alton, IL for quite some time due to our extended ghost-hunting research.

Write more of them if you want! They seem like ana amazing couple!
AN: More Bertrand/Hrothgar? Sure! Here’s a quick one for today :3
The Lady In White
As he opened his eyes from what felt like a short, but surprisingly restful nap, Hrothgar found himself standing in the middle of a meadow of wild flowers. It was a place he hadn’t seen before and knew that he was no longer within the boundaries of the labyrinth. Yet, he wasn’t alarmed.
He just started walking. One step at a time. Moving forward with a sense of purpose, though he did not know why or where he was going. Something was telling him to keep going forward. Something was pushing him to move.
Just walk and see, he told himself. Not much further now.
As he reached the crest of a small hill within the sea of flowers, Hrothgar finally came to a stop. All around him were beautiful flowers. Poppies, yet of different colours he had not seen before. Pinks, purples, blues, yellows. It was quite beautiful.
Something…something didn’t seem right, though. The flowers were gently swaying, as if dancing from a caressing breeze, and yet Hrothgar could not feel any wind upon his face. And his colourful surroundings seemed oddly muted in shades.
And he couldn’t hear a thing. No sound of the wind blowing through the tall flowers. No birds chirping in the distance. Nothing.
A flash of white suddenly caught his attention and he turned to look. A woman was seen amongst the flowers, her back to him. Luscious long hair held in a high ponytail danced and curled in the wind. She wore a long white dress that draped so effortless over her curves. Her presence felt regal and somehow ethereal in a sense. She was quite a striking woman, no one Hrothgar had seen before. And yet…
Yet there was a strange sense of familiarity from her. It was as though he knew of her, but did not know her. It was a confusing feeling, but he did not dwell on it. The thought came and went quickly.
Slowly, the woman in the white gown turned toward him and smiled warmly, gently. Her hair continued to dance unabated in the wind as she held a long, pale arm in his direction. She appeared to be beckoning him over to her.
“Hrothgar,” an almost celestial voice said to him, the voice seeming echoing throughout his mind and the flower covered meadow. “Sit with me for a while.”
Oddly, Hrothgar felt a slight sense of trepidation…How did she know his name?
The feeling of unease only lasted a mere moment, though, and Hrothgar was soon making his way toward the beautiful woman. He then found himself sitting on the ground, amongst the flowers, and next to the lady in white.
With her white dress sprawled around her, her legs folded neatly beneath her, she gazed over the field of flowers with a small smile on her lips. “It’s beautiful here, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” Hrothgar found himself answering. “It’s very peaceful.”
The woman nodded her head and continued to smile gently. “There is no pain here,” she said.
Hrothgar tilted his head to the side in confusion. What did she mean ‘there was no pain here’? Could that really be possible?
The lady in white was suddenly standing up a few feet in front of Hrothgar, her arms folded behind her back as she looked up at the sky. “There are…” she hesitated for a moment. “A few things that I wish to ask of you.”
“Yes, what is it?” Hrothgar replied without any hesitation.
The woman turned to look at him, her hands folded in front of her in a prayer. “Please tell Bertrand that I am safe here. That I am free and happy.”
Hrothgar felt a sudden pain in his heart at the mentioning of that name and he clutched at his chest. Bertrand…
“Please.” The lady in white was now kneeling before him, holding her two hands out toward him. “Show Bertrand this.”
Hrothgar glanced down at her hands to see a delicate piece of jewellery; a silver oval pendant with a milky-white stone on a long silver chain. “A necklace?”
“It was a present from long ago,” she told him as she gently took one of his hands and pressed the silver necklace against his palm, curling his fingers around it to ensure a firm grip. “He gave it to me with a pledge. But that pledge has been fulfilled. It is time that he makes another. To you.”
“M-me?”
“You need to go back now,” she said to him with nothing but compassion in her eyes. “He’s waiting.”
G-go back? Waiting? What did she mean? Go back to where?
Wait…
“I…died?” Hrothgar whispered in shock, yet he felt no fear or distress.
The woman before him laughed ever so softly. “No,” she said as she reached up to tap the tip of his nose with her finger. “Just visiting. I’ll send you back now.”
The ground beneath Hrothgar suddenly gave way and he felt as if he was slowly falling. Something had the hold of his left arm and pulling him slowly downwards. Pulling him back to a place that was…important. But he…wasn’t ready yet. He had to know who this woman was.
“W-wait,” Hrothgar said as he reached out toward the lady in white. “What is your name?”
“…Violetta.”
Hrothgar drew in a sharp intake of air. That name. She was…? N-no, she was too important to Bertrand! He had to let her know!
“V-Violetta? Bertrand-”
Violetta suddenly grasped his hand tightly with both of hers and looked at him with a warm yet somehow desperate expression on her face. “Tell him. Tell Bertrand I said thank you and I am sorry, for what he had to endure because of me. Tell him that it’s ok for him to let me go. Tell him that I will always watch over him. Tell him that his happiness is my only wish.”
Violetta…she cared for Bertrand so much.
“And Hrothgar, please,” Violetta continued as tears appeared in her eyes, her smile tender. “Love him in a way that I could not.”
“I-I will. I promise,” Hrothgar said as his eyesight slowly began to fade to a strangely comforting black.
Hrothgar suddenly felt…numb. He didn’t know where he was now. He was no longer within that field of flowers. His eyelids also felt incredibly heavy when he tried to open them. He wanted to, though. So badly. He could hear sounds. Like voices murmuring from a distance. He couldn’t make out what they were saying, yet he felt as if there was a sense of frantic panic in the air.
“Hrothgar!”
That…voice…?
It was so hard, but somehow Hrothgar gained the strength needed to open his eyes. A piercing light immediately flooded his vision and though he didn’t want to, he shut his eyes out of reflex.
“No, come on, kid. I need you to keep those eyes open.”
It was that voice again. Hrothgar immediately recognised it.
“Hn…” Hrothgar murmured as he forced his eyes open once more, the light from before not as painful. Slowly he lolled his head to the side, and even though his vision was blurry, the symbol upon the cloth of yellow and blue was immediately recognisable to him. “Bert…trand?”
There was a loud sigh of relief and Hrothgar felt something curl tightly around his shoulders, pulling him against something warm and comforting. “Thank the gods…”
Hrothgar could only stare at the crest upon Bertrand’s clothing as more voices began to slowly register in his mind.
“D-don’t try to move, ok? You’re fine. D-don’t worry about a thing, ok?”
“Trand, we need to get him back to town. Keep him awake.”
“Sir Hrothgar, hold on a little longer, everything will be fine.”
“I’ll clear the way for everyone. The geopole is close by.”
The Midgard Library Guild? All of them. And they sounded worried. Why would they be so worried? He and Wulfgar had just been helping a rookie guild through the third floor. Nothing to worry about. No foes. Just…a strangely large frog he had never seen before…
“What happened?” Hrothgar murmured as he found the strength to lift his chin up to gaze up at the man cradling him close. “Where’s Wulfgar?”
“Wulfgar’s fine,” Bertrand replied immediately, his voice sounding surprisingly hoarse. As if thick with emotion. “Don’t worry.”
“B-Bertrand?” Hrothgar whispered when he realised that Bertrand was holding him closely against his chest, one arm wrapped firmly but gently around his shoulders as the other idly toyed with his hand that rested against his chest. “What happened?”
“…You died, kid.”
Hrothgar drew in a sharp intake of air before he chuckled softly. That was right. He remembered now.
“No,” he said. “I was just visiting.”
Bertrand immediately turned to look down at him in confusion. Hrothgar licked his dry, chapped lips as he tried to tell him what had happened when he realised that Bertrand hadn’t been idly toying with his hand. His right hand had been curled tightly into a fist, as if keeping a firm grip on something important.
Hrothgar lifted his hand from his chest and slowly unfurled his fingers. A long silver chain slipped through his fingers, but he made sure to hold onto the silver and white pendant. “B-Bertrand, here.”
Bertrand glanced at the pendant for a moment before his eyes grew wide in shock. “…Where did you get that?”
“Violetta g-gave it to me,” Hrothgar explained as he tried to sit up, to tell Bertrand everything Violetta had asked of him. “She wants you to know…something.”
“E-easy,” Bertrand said as he pulled Hrothgar closer toward him and allowing for him to sit up a little more without putting any strain of his body.
“She’s not in pain anymore, Bertrand,” Hrothgar said as he rested against Bertrand’s chest, his eyes drooping from fatigue. “You don’t…have to worry anymore.”
“Is…is that so?”
“Yeah,” Hrothgar whispered as he lifted the necklace higher, wanting Bertrand to take it, to look at it. “She…sent me back. With this. Your pledge has been…fulfilled.”
Bertrand made the motion to take the necklace from him, but instead placed his hand atop of Hrothgar’s, curling his fingers around the keepsake. “…Keep it.”
Hrothgar smiled as he tightened his hold around the necklace and rested his head against Bertrand’s shoulder. “She’ll always…watch over you,” he whispered as he closed his eyes.
Bertrand suddenly hugged him tightly against his chest and buried his face in the crook of his neck. “…thank you, Violetta…”

Lost Log 1
The celebration detailed below takes place before the Melee, but after the Tournament as mentioned in the schedule here.
Gathering Circle, Evening
Gathering Circle
/./././././././././././././././././././././././././././././././././././././././.
The forest trees here are scattered across a soft meadow of heather and
wildflowers, and the sun dapples the ground through the leaves above. This is a
wide section of earth, and it seems to be a gathering place, bordered on one
end by a ring of standing stones which have been discolored from the smoke of
innumerable fires.  At the opposite end of the meadow, a pair of open pavilions
stand ready. These are constructed of cloth of gold and silver and are spacious
enough for a large group of Narnians to congregate protected from the elements.
The exterior of each pavilion is adorned with seasonal flowers, woven into
y to receive the day's
honored guests. To the south, elegant torches line the path which leads to
Caldron Pool and the waterfall beyond. The noise of the water is muted here,
blending into the quiet music provided by a small group of fauns.
\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.\.
You can go: Clearing <N>, Into Lantern Waste <E>, Caldron Pool <S>, Base of the Cliffs <W>
Contents: A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown; A son of adam who cuts an
attractive figure; A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial
wolf with
grizzled coat and emerald eyes; An unicorn stallion with a marred flank; A
Group of Musicians; Garlands; and Torches.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes emerges from the under the canopy of trees to the north, moving with great care and seeming to observe every leaf as he passes. When he sees the gathered nobles in the circle, his head lifts a fraction, and he makes his way over to join the unicorn. "Good evening, Commander." Then he bows more formally. "King Edmund, Queen Susan." His eyes linger on the other Sons of Adam.
A centaur with eyes that look like they've seen thousands of years set into a relatively young-looking face.
Carrying: Scabbard and Wintermoor's large leather pack.
Wintermoor heads east, toward Lantern Waste.
Wintermoor heads west.
(After stepping away and returning)
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown blushes somewhat more deeply at Rabadash's words, though from her expression, they do not seem unwelcome. She turns to curtsy to her brother and incline her head to the others recently arrived, greeting them. "Good evening."
Wintermoor makes his way towards the gathering, from the south Cauldron Pool and the river.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes takes up a place at his sister's side, greeting the Calormene prince cordially. "To you as well, Prince Rabadash. Our brother the High King has already informed us of the skill you demonstrated during this morning's tournament, and we wish to extend our congratulations to you as well. We hope you will take equal enjoyment in this evening's festivities--"
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank grins, letting out a light whinny of greeting as the Wolf approaches. "Evening, Subcommander."
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure smiles, teeth very white against his complexion. "You honor me, oh King. I have no doubt that my spirits shall be raised and my soul filled with joy this eve."
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes flashes a grin back at the unicorn, but falls quiet as he observes all of the dignitaries' talk.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair joins his hands behind his back, listening quietly. His expression is thoughtful.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown smiles as Edmund joins them and at his words. While he and Rabadash speak, she takes the moment to properly greet Sir Darrin with a smile as well. "Sir Darrin, were you able to see more of Lantern Waste as you hoped?"
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank twitches his ears, tilting his head a bit as he glances to Darrin and listens.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair smiles at Susan and nods, "I did your Majesty. I particularly enjoyed the Meadow to the South and West of here. It reminded me of the wild flower meadow in the wood south of Anvard."
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes leans a little closer to the unicorn.
Glyn mumbles "... recognize ... ... ... ... who are these other ...", to Petraverd.
A bear with large paws and brown fur emerges from the thicket to the north.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes replies to Rabadash, his expression difficult to read but clearly not unfriendly. "The honor is entirely ours, we assure you. It is our hope that this visit will serve to strengthen the amicable relationship which exists between our countries. We appreciate the effort which was expended for you and for our friends from Archenland to journey north to join us for these festivities."
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank lowers his head to reply to the Wolf, gesturing vaguely - enough to provide indication, but not so much as to be overly overt.
Petraverd mumbles "Sir ... of Archenland, and ... ... Prince ... ... ... ... with His Majesty.", to Glyn.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown gives a gentle nod at Darrin's words. "I am pleased to hear it. I am unfamiliar with the meadow near Anvard, but if I recall the one here of which you speak, it is a lovely meadow."
A mouse of regal appearance emerges from the thicket to the north.
Wintermoor nearing the gathering, he sees the assembled royalty and bows.
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure's expression, in contrast, is open with its flashing grin. "An effort that has been repaid manyfold by the greeting I have received and the wonders I have been shown since, Oh King. My heart likewise yearns for a time when our two lands may be at happy peace."
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes nods his understanding. "Ah. The ones for whose honour this festival exists."
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank simply nods to Glyn. He flicks an ear at the current topic between the Queen and Knight, and grins slightly, with what may be construed as a quiet sort of pride.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes states, "Your words do you as much credit as your blade, Prince Rabadash. We cannot but be pleased when our hospitality is received so well. At some point, we would be most interested to hear your reflections and observations after your tour through our lands. Tonight, however, is more suited to revelry and dancing. We have heard that the cooks have prepared some Calormene dishes as well, based on your servants' specifications, and we are looking forward to sampling them ourselves."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair glances at the wolf and moment before returning his gaze to Queen Susan. "It is very lovely--and a good place to think. I did find the rusted kettle rather curious, tho. I was hoping someone knew the story behind it."
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure bows again, one hand coming up to his chest. "I had thought some of the fragrances coming from the tables familiar. I can but hope they will be to your taste and delight you as your own delicacies have me."
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes studies the foreign nobles with some curiosity, matching eye contact with Darrin for a time. He nods politely enough, but cants his head at the question. "I've not heard that story myself," he admits, "And I've lived here for some time..."
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown says in reply to Darrin. "Unfortunately, I do not believe I know that particular story." She brings her attention back to Rabadash and Edmund as she notices the Calormene Prince bow once more.
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank twitches his ears. "I believe it was once the home of a bird, with whom the meadow now shares a name, although I confess I do not know much more than that."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair chuckles, "A simple story, but a pleasant one." He smiles at the wolf and studies the creature with more interest. "You are the Subcommander of the Watch?"
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes answers, his expression as formal as his words, "We have every expectation that they shall be to our tastes." He shifts his focused attention to encompass Darrin as well at the latter's remark. "We suspect, Sir Darrin, that our sister Queen Lucy will be able to enlighten all of us. Her knowledge on such topics rather exceeds our own. Is that not so?", he inquires, directing this last to his elder sister.
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure falls, for once, to listening, though his expression is rather less intrigued than the rest.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes nods in answer to Darrin's question. "I am Glyn, of Ulfden Pack, serving under the Watch Commander." He makes a slight gesture toward the unicorn. His ears flick at the sudden question to Queen Susan.
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank grins a bit, adding after Glyn, "A fine Wolf and talented fighter, to boot."
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown smiles. "Indeed, Queen Lucy may be one who would know such a story. She has a gift for recalling such topics, as well as an interest in them."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair smiles and nods, "Queen Lucy is a very imaginative and engaging Queen, especially when it comes to her country. I should very much like to discuss the history of Lantern Waste with her."
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes gives a single nod, evidently pleased by this. "We trust you will have ample opportunity of doing so while you are here, Sir Darrin. Queen Lucy will be delighted." He smiles at Susan in return. "She does indeed. Rather like your gift when it comes to Archery." He turns back to Rabadash and asks amiably, "Are you as comfortable with the bow as you are with the scimitar, Your Highness? Perhaps you might wish to join in with the rest of the archers when they provide a demonstration in the coming days--"

A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure flashes another smile, though he dips his head in a show of modesty. "I have been taught how to send an arrow sailing straight, though my heart holds to the scimitar.  If I hear truth, however (of which I have no doubt), I shall not be able to stand against the skill of the Queen!"
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes's ear folds at the unicorn's words, but he smiles. Canting his head toward Darrin, he observes with a grin, "There is only one way to find out, that I know of, and that's to compete. I hope that you will."
Wintermoor solemnly stands and observes the conversations taking place.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown had similarly turned to Rabadash to hear his reply to Edmund's question, clearly interested in his response. She smiles. "If it would please your highness to participate, I should still enjoy seeing your skill in the demonstration."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair nods eagerly, "I should like to see you shooting myself after our conversation the other night. A man who dares a dessert lion must have a straight shot indeed."
OOC> Darrin says, "your"
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure spreads his hands to the side, dipping his head again. "In that case, so it shall be! I would be honored to compete once again!"
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes's ear flicks at Rabadash's elaborate gestures.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes listens as a servant approaches and announces that the feast is prepared and then offers his sister his arm to escort her toward the tables. "We also look forward to that, Prince Rabadash. If we tarry much longer, however, our offended cooks may well see to it that none of us are able to make the experiment", he quips, adding a small, formal smile to his words. "Shall we see what they have prepared for us?"
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown takes Edmund's arm and nods her agreement, smiling. "Indeed, I think that we should. I am very curious to sample the Calormene fare they have prepared."
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure steps up to walk on Susan's opposite side. "Few things would give me more pleasure, oh King."
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank glances to Glyn, gesturing himself with a question in his expression.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes rolls his shoulders to the unicorn and nods.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair takes a step back to make room for them to pass.
A son of adam wearing spectacles emerges from the thicket to the north.
Edmund offers to lead Susan.
Susan decides to follow Edmund.

The best word for this spot might be grandiose. To the west, water roars from
a fall, where a river somewhere in the western wilds crashes over Narnia's
western border-cliffs to form the great, churning Caldron pool, deep and
cold. In the lee of the cliffs, long tables groan under the weight of
platters, plates, and dishes of food. Fragrant spices of southern origin waft
through the air, suggesting that some Calormene recipes have also been
included among the selections. Tasteful arrangements of flowers, most growing
naturally around the pool, decorate each of the tables. The head table has
been elevated so that it is easy to watch what goes on there, even at a
distance. Fire pits have also been provided, should the feasting continue
after dark has fallen. After the Calormene fashion, piles of embroidered
cushions are set a little apart from the feasting tables for weary diners to
recline in comfort.

A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure arrives from the north.
King Edmund stops Susan from walking with him.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes makes his way toward the high table with Susan beside him. As he passes, he compliments the cooks on their preparations, pausing to take note of the various dishes provided for the feast.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown similarly thanks and compliments the cooks as they pass. She releases Edmund's arm when they reach the head table and she takes a place at the table.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes glances up the unicorn, waiting for his lead in this affair.
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank flicks his ears, glancing about a moment before he gestures toward one of the other tables, making his way in that direction.
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure walks alongside the Queen, examining the spread as he passes. He too finds a place at the head table, as near to the Queen as he can manage.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes casts a curious glance at a pile of embroidered cushions as he moves to join his Commander's side.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair follows behind the Royals and moves to a table off to the side. He quietly thanks the chefs and cooks, complimenting their skills.
A son of adam wearing spectacles takes a seat at the same table as Sir Darrin. He acknowedges the cooks, some with a few words, others with his eyes or a nod, but doesn't speak with them nearly to the extent that the other nobles do.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair givs Tyre a welcoming smil and greets him quietly.
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank tilts his head as he glances over the fare, swishing his tail.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes is seated near his sister and Prince Rabadash. He casts a glance in the direction of their guests from Archenland, speaking a few words to Susan as he does so.
Wintermoor makes his way to a table with some Narnians, but can also where he can stand comfortably
Edmund mumbles "... ... ... ... ... ... and Sir Darrin ... feel ... ... ease, Su--from what ... ... they are ... ... be ... for ... prowess in the ... Perhaps if there ... ... ... ... ... ought ... ... ... ... ... ...", to Susan.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes comes to sit beside the unicorn, peering over the table himself, and quickly locks in on the meat platter.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown similarly glances in the direction of the Archenland suitors. She nods and speaks a few quiet words in return. "I similarly hope that they feel at ease, and I have expressed our commendation to them about the tournament. Perhaps you should say a few words to encourage everyone to eat, and then I will go invite them."
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure looks towards the nobles and does not quite manage to look disappointed at the current seating arrangements.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes rises with another nod at his sister's words. "Very well", he states. His voice carries toward the rest of the tables as he addresses the crowd. "Our friends, subjects, and esteemed guests. We bid you welcome on this evening of celebration. Please make yourselves at ease as you enjoy what has been prepared for you. To the participants and victors in today's events", and here the younger king raises a goblet, "We extend to you our commendations once again. You have each accomplished something to take pride in. Enjoy your revels, for they are well-earned." At the conclusion of this toast, Edmund signals the servants to remove the covers from the heaping platters of food and they start to circulate and serve the guests.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes's ears prick at the mention of victors. He leans to the unicorn. "I had to miss the tournament this morning. What happened there?"
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown smiles as she raises her goblet as well, glancing to each of the participants, though her glance perhaps lingering slightly longer on Rabadash. When Edmund finishes his toast, she sets her goblet back down and rises from her seat. She makes her way over to Darrin and Tyre and says quietly to them, "Lord Tyre, Sir Darrin, please, would you join us at the head table? You are also our guests of honor."
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank perks his ears as the King speaks, directing his attentions toward the head table. He glances back to Glyn at his question, grinning a bit. "Quite a performance. Prince Rabadash there took the victory, with Sir Darrin taking second. The Prince had quite the bout with the High King at the end - much that could have been learned from it all. Particularly intrigued by some of those parries they showed, rather different from the techniques I'm used to seeing."
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure also toasts with the King, inclining his head modestly. He does, however, briefly meet the Queen's eyes, his mouth hinting at a smile.  Once the toast is over and the King has finished, he plucks a loaf of saffron bread from one of the servers as it is offered to him.
Rabadash pulls Loaf of Saffron-Bread from A Platter Heaped with Breads.
A son of adam wearing spectacles rises hastily, managing to catch his chair before it actually falls over. "Oh! Yes," he bows, also hastily, "Thank you, yes, of course."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair raises a goblet to King Edmund's speech and smiles. He is about to sit and address Tyre when Queen Susan makes her way to them. He reamins standing and bows at the waist and nods, "It would be an honor to join you, Prince Rabadash, and King Edmund, your Majesty."
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes gives the appearance of considering the unicorn's description carefully. "I see... and who won the bout with the High King?"
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank helps himself to a selection from the breads himself as he says, "His Majesty did. Quite an impressive display from the both of them through the whole thing, though."
Petraverd pulls Fruit Bread from A Platter Heaped with Breads.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes helps himself to a slice of the Saffron Bread as well. "Ah", he observes. "
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes says, "One of our particular favorite dishes, Prince Rabadash. An excellent choice."
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown inclines her head with a smile. "Thank you." She motions to the table and leads the way, retaking her place at the table by Edmund and Rabadash. She sits and takes a bit of one of the Calormene dishes that have been prepared.
Wintermoor pulls Roasted Apple from A Basket of Fruit and Nuts.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes nods, displaying a small smile and an appearance of satisfaction. Peering about the table, he takes in the astonishing variety of beasts, finally taking note of the centaur. He is captivated by the sight for a moment, saying nothing.
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure samples the bread, then flashes his smile at the King. "You have fine taste indeed, oh King!"
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank continues, "Speaking of such things, though, I'm curious as to what your thoughts are as far as tomorrow's events go."
Rabadash eats a delicious piece of saffron bread. Don't you wish you had some?
Petraverd eats a piece of Fruit Bread, it looks quite good.
Susan eats some eel stew.  Given the look on delight you are very tempted to try it for yourself.  The aroma is certainly tantalizing.
Wintermoor eats the Roasted Apple.  It tastes sweet and is warmed perfectly throughout.
Susan eats some eel stew.  Given the look on delight you are very tempted to try it for yourself.  The aroma is certainly tantalizing.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair follows Queen Susan to the table, taking the seat beside Prince Rabadash. He bows at the waist to the Royals once more before and waits for Queen Susan to be seated before taking a seat and sampling the fare.
Darrin pulls Fruit Bread from A Platter Heaped with Breads.
A son of adam who is crowned and dressed in ceremonial robes answers the prince with a smile of his own before following his sister's lead and sampling one of the Calormene dishes on the feasting table. He savors it with evident enjoyment, taking his time as if attempting to judge the recipe from the dish itself.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes (Glyn) speaks up to Wintermoor. "Good evening, Master Centaur," he says carefully.
Wintermoor turns to the wolf, greeting him and speaking with him for a short time before excusing himself.
A son of adam wearing spectacles sits at the end of the line, eating as unobtrusively as possible.
A daughter of eve wearing a jeweled crown delicately samples some of the Calormene fare, looking pleasantly surprised as she does so. She comments to Rabadash, "I am unfamiliar with the spices that are used in this dish, but it is delightful."
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair begins with the more familiar Narnian and Archenlander food, then decides to try some of the foreign dishes. He reacts to each Calormen dish in a thoughtful manner, but it is clear which foods he favors. He leans over to his cousin and quietly converses.
Darrin mumbles "... should ... ... dessert--it's ... ... ... ... dishes. I ... warn you, ... ... a bit ... ... ... ... it, ... ... ... ... ...", to Tyre.
A son of adam who cuts an attractive figure's expression becomes one of satisfaction as he sees King Edmund enjoying some of his country's fare. Taking some himself, he smiles once again. "You have masterful cooks, to be able to so swiftly reproduce the food of my home!" He transfers his attention swiftly to Susan, grin growing. "My heart lifts to hear your praise, oh fairest of Queens! There are many, to add to the complexity of flavor, and I must admit I myself am not even familiar with all."
Wintermoor discreetly excuses himself from the feasting, bowing to the monarchs, then then nobles and nodding towards the wolf and Unicorn.
A son of adam with bright blue eyes and light brown hair nods to the centuar and smiles.
An unicorn stallion with a marred flank nods toward the Centaur, before eyeing the fruit.
Petraverd pulls Roasted Peach from A Basket of Fruit and Nuts.
Petraverd eats the Roasted Peach, finding that the flesh inside is cooked perfectly.
A wolf with grizzled coat and emerald eyes eyes the centaur and nods politely as he leaves.
