Naruto shippuden things that made me lose my mind (ep 321-346):
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 MADARA 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Taunade: We've been had! Mask man is not the real madara! (Would knowing who he was change literally anything? If u ignored him u wouldn't be prepared when he attacked with his giant gooey army?)
The 5 kage: we've got this naruto! We old ppl wanna change the world too (feels weird when gaara is a victim of all the bullshit ur trying to change and he's also a kage?)
Oh god. Fucking bubble boy is back.
Watching a flashback from the perspective of a sword... okay.
Naruto @ 4th mizukage: u died so young, u never knew the kiss of a woman 😭 Kurama: ...naruto, you've only kissed sasuke
Jugo: why r u following sasuke, Suigetsu? (Carnal desire, dont ask stupid questions)
Hhhh I don't wanna look at sasuke's loser gang, I think they're boring!
Madara fucking shit up: 🙂
🖤🖤🖤🖤 Hashirama face titty 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Itachi @ sasuke, on his way to do other shit: there's no point in talking anymore (itachi, I get it. And i kno u make up for it but I will fucking strangle u)
Madara @ tsunade: u have hashirama's blood in u so ill kill u 1st. Ur nothing compared to him. That man was a freak of nature. I fought him in a death match once 🥰
Other leaf nin: *threaten to withhold funds and steal from and rough up an orphanage* Orochimaru: watch out, someone might steal your precious children 👀
Kabuto: I will take orochimaru and I will put him inside myself. That is my final form (god... kabuto makes me so sad)
Sasuke: itachi u were perfect! (SASUKE NO!!! R U FUCKING INSANE??? ITACHI WAS SO FUCKED UP HE DECIDED HE WAS JUSTIFIED IN KILLING HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND GIVING HIS BROTHER SUPER TRAUMA. THEN HE DIED AND HIS PLAN EXPLODED IN HIS FACE POST MORTEM)
Sasuke: itachi, the more time I spend with u, the more I understand u and the more I hate konoha (SASUKE YES!!! Your brother is somehow still fucking brainwashed)
Orochimaru upon revival: my one and only interest is sasuke's young body (😰)
Naruto: WTF HAPPENED TO THE 5 KAGE?! Madara: eh idk they're probably not doing too good *cut to a bunch of bodies*
Obito: I hate u!!! Zetsu: 🤨👎
"I'm in hell" is a dark episode but the title makes me laugh everytime I see it
Obito's hashirama arm is real yucky. I love it.
Madara: I will take this tiny piece of hashirama and shove it into my chest. As any normal person would.
While no one was looking... madara implanted his own eyes into nagato's head...

wrote more stuff at work for friendoes. (Kakashi x OC| Natsuo x OC | Hawks x OC | Obito x OC | Gray x Juvia | Jellal x Erza)
for @goodnightlover
prompt: "i didn't die." "you were dead to me."
__________
Before he could take one look into the guild hall someone viciously attacked Gray by throwing her whole body onto him. It was not like he hadn’t been ready for this specific ambush, no, Gray had been trained for this for many years and this point and braced his body to take in the impact. Maybe he had even slowed down a little upon getting to the Fairy Tail building, so that all his teammates entered before he did, leaving him outside with only his attacker. Maybe.
“Gray-sama,” Juvia chimed, her head snuggling against his cheek and he murmured defensively something about how she needed to stop, but left his head right there for hers to touch. He was also glad to see her again, it had been at least a month since the last time they had spoken and he had thought a lot about her since then, so he was glad to have her right by his side once more. Not that he would loudly proclaim these feelings, of course.
Juvia grabbed him and pulled him closer, her voice sounding a little like she was sulking: “Gray-sama was gone for so long, Juvia was all alone.”
“Nonsense,” Gray said and got out of her tight grip, “You were with the guild.” Juvia made a face and it told him what he already knew: Juvia liked the guild and the people there a lot, but she liked spending time with nobody as much as with him. He told himself that this was nothing to be proud of, but he still was. Feelings weren’t cooperating with him as much nowadays as they used to.
She finally fully let go off him and jumped back on her feet, the blue top that she was wearing revealed a part of her skin beneath. A shudder went through Gray as he caught a glimpse of the scar that sat on her hip there. He pressed his teeth together.
“Gray-sama isn’t listening, is he?” Juvia said, putting her face closer to his again to gain his attention. “What is he staring at?”
Gray averted his face away from hers, feeling a little heated in his ears with her so close. “When will you finally get rid of that scar?”
“Never,” Juvia didn’t even hesitate before she replied. “This scar reminds me of Gray-sama and the sacrifice we are willing to do for our love.”
“Well, it reminds me of failure.” He shook his head. “It reminds me that I have to get much stronger to be able to make sure such a sacrifice will never be necessary again.”
She clasped her hand together and was already half singing again. “Gray-sama is already so strong. Juvia thinks, he should trust more in his own strength and of course into her ability to protect him.” She blinked with her big, dark blue eyes at him.
Somehow her reply made him angry. He turned around to her directly. “But that is not how it should be!” Gray yelled, a little louder than maybe necessary, because the conversation in the guild hall suddenly came to a halt. He couldn’t stop himself anyway. “I should protect you. That’s how it should have been back then, and it should definitely be now. I don’t- I don’t ever want to see you dead again. That’s why I’m on this laughably long quest. That’s why I need to be stronger. That’s why I hate…” He tapped with his hand to his own, now magically naked, chest and circled the scar, “.. this scar that marks my utter failure.”
“But..,” she reached out her hands to lightly touch the back of his hands, “… Juvia didn’t die.”
“You were dead to me.”
Gray pulled his hand back and took a step away. “You were not moving, not breathing, your blood was not circulating in your body, but mine, keeping me alive while you were slipping away. And I couldn’t do anything, but watch yet again. You don’t understand how often I see this in my nightmares!” Yes, he could have checked the pulse a little longer, stayed by her side just for a few more minutes to watch help arrive. If he had been patient, if he hadn’t lost his cool, he’d known she was alright right away, but too many people had sacrificed themselves for him all through his life and when it was her it was just too much.
Juvia stood still in place, her hand still reached out to his that was now out of her reach. His anger puffed into smoke and his heart sank when he noticed the tears in the corners of her eyes. “I’m sorry-,” she started, but he cut her off by stepping forward: “No, don’t- don’t apologise-“
“Fuck.” He picked up the hand that was still hanging in the air with both of his. “I don’t- don’t hate that scar this much. I don’t mind that you have it, I’m sorry for yelling.” There was very little that he hated more than Juvia crying because of something he had done. It had happened too often and needed to stop. “I’m sorry, okay.” Then, softer. “I – I know that you’ll always look after me and I am very thankful for that.”
She put her head down against his hands holding hers and he couldn’t stop himself from leaning his own head down so he could put his forehead into her hair. They just stood like this for a while until Natsu could be heard through the open doors: “Geesh, do all of ya need to be so damn dramatic?”

Hi! I really like how much effort you put into pulling canon examples to illustrate points on your blog. I also really love how much enthusiasm you have for best guy Kakashi! On the other hand, constantly ragging on folks for deviating from canon is exhausting.
For example, I know Kakashi/Gai/Obito have the same build. MOST Naruto characters have the same build. I personally don't find the same-y builds fun or interesting, so I like to change it up. It's a personal choice, I know it's not canon (though I'm just as happy to see canon Kakashi as any AU Kakashi), so you *really* don't need to constantly say "fandom take note, X isn't canon". Either we know and we consciously choose to deviate or we don't but you've already perfectly illustrated your point with screenshots, so underlining it with a statement like that comes off as belittling at best-- even if you mean it as friendly ribbing.
I say all this because I genuinely don't think that you're ragging others on purpose. I do think it's an expression of friendly frustration that isn't landing the way you intend. At the end of the day, though, I don't follow you for what fandom thinks, I follow you for what YOU think. I follow to hear the ways YOU love Kakashi. The posts I enjoy most reflect this-- the ones where it's all "this is why I love Kakashi" and not "fandom is wrong for loving Kakashi X way".
Thank you for your amazing work and sorry for the unsolicited ask
First of all, I was really having a hard time answering this ask because you seem like a really nice person and I don't want my answer to seem harsh or upset you in any way, I literally just kept typing things and then deleting them so believe me, this is the nicest way I found to explain my thoughts.
Second, speaking my mind in my own blog is not ragging on ppl, I've never once replied to those fan works with anything negative, I always just scroll past it and then go vent with my friends about it.
Third, when ppl just can't accept a mlm ship without completely changing one of them to make him fit into the wife role because they can't see beyond an extremely heteronormative view then I have to keep reminding the fandom. When ppl can't accept a ship of 2 equal partners and have to change them to make one the stronger masculine one and the other the helpless feminine one then I have to keep reminding the fandom. When I bump into so many ppl who genuinely believe those fanarts and fanfics because it's been years since they watched/read Naruto and everything they see now is this type of content that they no longer remember the real Kakashi anymore then I have to keep reminding the fandom. When this is really effecting ppl's views of Kakashi to the point that I keep seeing ppl saying that he's so weak and small and helpless that he can't even lift the sword that he literally wielded like a total boss with ease in canon then I have to keep reminding the fandom... You have no idea how many ppl I met who really genuinely thought that Gai and Obito are really twice as big as Kakashi and when I told them "actually no, that's just fanon, they are actually the same built in canon" they didn't believe me at first until they went and looked it up themselves, and that's just the ppl that I spoke to, there are thousands of others who really don't know. You are really underestimating how fan contents affects ppl's views, for example, the majority of the fandom thinks that Kakashi was a useless Hokage just because of that old "blow up the moon" meme that never actually happened, on the contrary he's the one who STOPPED the Raikage from blowing up the moon, no one even remembers all of the great things Kakashi did as a Hokage and only remembers that meme that was the opposite of the truth. I keep reminding the fandom because when content creators do stuff like that "for fun" they don't make it clear that they changed stuff and that's not actually how it is, the misconceptions this type of fan work creates is so much bigger than you think and unfortunately it's unrepairable, even my constant friendly reminders aren't going to correct it but I still do it out of frustration first and hope that at least someone might see it and know how it actually is, because I joined this fandom when Naruto ended to keep sharing my love for Kakashi with other fans who loves him too but most of my days in this fandom, I really miss Kakashi because I can hardly find him anymore between the endless Kakashi slander and hate for things that isn't even true, the misconceptions and the way ppl change him so much that he stops being him anymore. I'm here because I want to see the Kakashi that I fell in love with not someone else's OC committing identity fraud! It's not Kakashi anymore if we're going to change everything that makes him, him!
On the other hand, you have no idea how wrong it is that ppl just can't accept a ship where both partners are equal without one of them having to be smaller and weaker or it won't be "fun", it wouldn't have been an issue at all if that's how they originally are but for ppl to change them because "it's boring" for 2 equal ppl wether in their size or strength to be together that's when it's not fine, it's 2023 and yet ppl are still not able to get over the idea that couples can't work without looking like a wife and a husband, they can't both look like men or it won't be "fun", there's a difference between having your own art style which is actually fun, and deliberately changing the designs of 2 characters who have the same built to make one of them twice as big as the other and it's even 100x worse when they change their skin color too on top of everything else, I don't think I need to explain this one.. like man, if you have a size kink then why not ship 2 characters who canonically has a size difference instead of doing this, there are plenty of characters who have size differences like, Itachi and Kisame, or Kisame and Gai or Kakashi and Ibiki or Jiraiya and Sakumo or Sasuke and Jūgo... Etc.
In the end, I'm sorry if any of what I said seemed harsh in any way, that was not my intention, and there's nothing wrong about expressing myself on my own blog because even tho I strongly disagree with that type of content, I never go to artists blogs to force my opinions on them, instead, I block the tags that can prevent me from seeing the things that I dislike as much as possible and express myself in my own space in my own blog so I can at least remind someone of the real Kakashi that the majority of the fandom seems to not remember anymore because that's the Kakashi I fell in love with and I joined the fandom for, and give him some of the love and credit he deserves but hardly is getting nowadays.
Last but not least, from now on, I'll be tagging any post where I'm complaining about the fandom as "#fandom bs" to make it easier for anyone who gets tired of my complaining to just block this tag.

Today I listened to the podcast Stuff You Missed in History Class's episode on Raphael Lemkin, coiner of the term genocide and the man behind getting the U.N. to recognize and prevent/punish genocide, and it made me realize "oh yeah, in the real world when atrocities are committed people sometimes at least attempt to like do something about it" Obviously it doesn't always work because the world is a big place and people don't know how to act right, but I can appreciate the thought.
So then I was like isn't it funny that the leaders of the ninja villages couldn't get together to talk about the akatsuki until one guy's brother is a victim. And this is after uhhhhhhh seven other people who are vessels for tailed beasts have been killed (one was brought back to life incidentally but still) and said beasts are now in the hands of terrorists (don't get on me about this language, like what the akatsuki of this time did was not morally in the wrong, attempting to induce terror by using tailed beasts they got by killing people who didn't ask to have tailed beasts put in them)? We hear a bunch of different stories about how ninja society has caused all kinds of horrible things to happen (some of these things we blame on people who are victims of those horrible things) and literally no one ever gives a shit about it unless it's about them personally (and even then...not always). Also they fought for most of that kage summit we saw until ObItO showed up anyway and the same thing happened at the kage summit we saw Hashirama at. And then at the end of Naruto we are supposed to believe after everyone fought together against a couple of assholes that everything is fine now and the ninja world is at peace? It seems to me these people don't care about jack shit, morals, ethics, none of it. They don't even care about what happens to their own damn people (Uchiha and Hyuuga clans, AHEM).
I mean classic Kishimoto I guess, but I'm still annoyed both on a moral level and on a story-telling level.

no you are right! obito should’ve gone a little more unhinged, he’s a devastating character and a naruto foil to sasuke’s kakashi. speak more, who’s your favorite antagonist? both major and minor? favorite team (gai? and why?) also what’s your thoughts on the ame trio, i made a joke once on how they parallel team 7, and what do you think of the teams 7? (obirinkaka and narusakusasu)
I would've LOVED to see Obito decide him and Kakashi needed to kill each other or die together, in the end. Really would've been the cherry on top to the fucked up parallels between their dynamic and Naruto and Sasuke's.
This got kinda long lmao
My favorite minor antagonist is probably Hidan. His power was so cool and devastating when we first see it, different from anything we'd seen before. He's also like a figurehead to a cult and gets his power from some sort of deity, but that is literally never explored lmao. There could've been an entire arc dedicated to him, the cult, Jashin, etc. but we didn't get any of that. Regardless, his fights were always entertaining, and sometimes I love a character that's evil just to be evil. No tragic backstory here, just an insane blonde who has some weird connection to a deity. There's a theory that Jashin is actually one of the ninja aliens that come up in the end and that's why Hidan has such an insane power. I feel like there was a lot of potential in his character that was just brushed over. How did he get that power? Who the fuck is Jashin? It's a cult, so where are the cultists? What are their goals? Was Hidan like a vessel for Jashin? Is the cult performing human sacrifice rituals (seems like something Hidan would do)? Shikamaru should've been determined to kill every last Jashinist there was, and I would've loved to watch that play out.
All the Akatsuki members are pretty cool, I also really like Sasori. First, his fight with Sakura was her one big moment in all of Shippuden which is pretty lame, but it was still really fun. Just the mentality behind turning his dead parents into puppets that he can keep forever, then turning himself into a puppet - a body he has total control over. Turning people into puppets, so he can make them "perfect." Serial Killer Mentality for sure!! It's so fucked up. I wish Naruto was darker sometimes, so we could've gotten the full horror of the Akatuski members being completely wild and unhinged.
Itachi is another antagonist that I, and everyone else, go insane over. I do think Kishimoto went a bit overboard with trying to redeem him and make him sympathetic. Like, yes he was a brainwashed child soldier that was forced into following the order to massacre his entire family. But then, he was also apparently a double agent and was STILL LOYAL TO THE LEAF VILLAGE?? If he was spying on the Akatsuki, then why do we still know literally nothing about them by the time his double agent status is revealed? Was he passing along information or not? Genuinely, I think Kishimoto was not planning a lot of this shit out and was just making stuff up as he went along.
I think it's a necessary part of Itachi's character that he did break under the pressures of being a child soldier and that contributed to why he went through with the massacre. Instead, he turns out to be the Perfect Soldier who would never betray his overlords. OTHER THAN THAT, he's a really cool character and his antagonist status works so well for Sasuke's character. He also works as a great device to show the depths Konoha will go to maintain its power structure. If Konoha would order the massacre of a founding clan, what's to stop them from massacring the other clans or civilians? The entire point of the Village was to stop in-fighting between these clans. That would have been a really fascinating political point to explore if Kishimoto had wanted to. Also, the poison within the Uchiha clan ... when Itachi's dad took him to that battlefield (I think he was 3?) and Itachi killed someone for the first time, the pressures of being the heir and firstborn son, etc. The violence inherent to being born in this society that values violence above all else. I also love sibling relationships and the dynamic between him and Sasuke is so rich. There's no Sasuke without Itachi and vice versa. There's no Naruto without Sasuke. Itachi is one of the tragic characters of all time!
Also, to be clear, I don't hate that he was still loyal to Konoha because it contrasts to where Sasuke went. I hate that he was supposedly still a double agent, working for Konoha, on their orders to join the Akatsuki because it felt like a random choice to further redeem him and just didn't make sense with the story. If he had just stayed in that broken soldier mentality of remaining loyal to Konoha because he doesn't know any other way to live rather than having him literally continue to supposedly work for Konoha than it would've made more sense to me.
My favorite team has to be Team 7, my beloved garbage fire of a team. They all need therapy so badly. Team Gai, however, is what Team 7 could be if they got therapy and had a mentor that was significantly less toxic. Team Gai is just the happiest of vibes (minus Neji being a literal slave to his clan). We really should have seen Team Gai demolish the Hyuuga for Neji. I refuse to believe Gai would not have challenged the Hyuuga Clan Head to a fight to the death, politics be damned. Gai wouldn't give a shit about the politics. Lee and Tenten? Ride or die, they'll tear the Hyuuga compound to the ground with their bare hands. Team Gai chooses violence! Naruto is also there to help, of course. Team 7 was taking too damn long to start a revolution so Team Gai had to step in! I like Team 7 and Team Gai pretty equally, I think. They work well together, ya know? Not just because both team's mentors are literally married and retired now in Boruto.
The Ame trio absolutely parallels Team 7. Just like how Team 7 parallels the Sannin trio and Kakashi/Obito/Rin. The Ame trio is like the most tragic outcome that Team 7 could've been. The parallels are especially blatant since one of them has some funky eye jutsu lmao. They're also another sign that Jiraiya is THE WORST. Godfather that can't raise or even check in on Naruto, mentor that raises three orphans of war (trains them to be soldiers too) and then abandons them when they're still preteens, like!!! Jiraiya can't do anything right! Dude is somehow the worst deadbeat dad around and he's not even a father.
Kishimoto makes narsakusasu and obirinkaka parallel each other for sure. Rin, unfortunately, is barely a character and exists to be a tragic footnote in the backstories of Kakashi and Obito. Sakura, well, she's got more going for her than that, but she still isn't exactly a well-written character. I think Obito is very much what could've gone wrong with Naruto, had he experienced something similar. It does make you wonder how Naruto would react to seeing Sasuke kill Sakura. Because, uh, Naruto claims to have a crush on Sakura but Sasuke means way more to him than Kakashi meant to Obito. That's not to reduce what Kakashi meant to Obito (or what Sakura means to Naruto), but Naruto is straight up obsessed with Sasuke. It's literally revealed later on that they are soulmates. Sasuke did hurt Sakura a few times too and Naruto would get pissed, sure, but it'd just harden his resolve to "bear the burden of Sasuke's hatred and die with him." Which is such an INSANE thing to say, literally can't think about that moment for too long or I'll suffer physic damage.
Something I always hated about both Team 7s is that the female character clearly is there to build the bridge between the male team members. Rin was expected to bring Obito and Kakashi together. Sakura was expected to do the same but, hilariously, she didn't because Naruto and Sasuke were already tied together just in the most antagonistic way possible. This leaves Sakura as the 3rd wheel, in the team and the narrative.

Prompt: Team Minato being the best battle trio maybe 👉👈 (ship or not idc)
so funny how i was like “yeah short prompt ideas thx!” and then wrote 3.7k words that are largely unedited <3
this also ended up being rin-centric on accident because i just wanted to develop her and succumbed to my one weakness: insane worldbuilding! so sorry i’ll draw and write soem more obkkrin to make up for it 😭😭
there’s implied ship in this but it’s not stated so that’s up for interpretation
Their teamwork wasn’t always impeccable.
Obviously, it couldn’t really have been considered teamwork before Kannabi and Rin’s near-death. They attempted improvements after Kannabi, but nearly fell apart after Rin’s sacrifice.
But, in the end, it all worked out. Should it have? Probably not. But it did, and they were all alive, and Minato never left them alone on missions anymore because they all saw the tremors that shook him after they returned from that plateau.
After that, they devoted all their time to working together. It wasn’t an easy process, because Kakashi was incredible at rejecting attempts at inclusion (he was the only constant at the two incidents, he said one night by the fire. Rin had thought that was it for their team until Obito had stared at Kakashi like he was stupid, causing him to finally look up. “So?” he said, scratching at his chin. “I don’t care.” Kakashi had tonelessly responded with, “You probably should,” and Obito had simply shrugged. “Prob’ly. Well I’ve never been that good at like.. caring for myself n’ stuff, so. There.” And if Obito was anything, it was brutally honest, and Kakashi knew as much. He didn’t reject their invitations as much after that, and Rin could only hope he was happier with them).
Obito was a social butterfly, so he had no problems making friends with either of them. His issues lied in regaining his coordination, with new body parts and Sharingan and all. So it was several months of not being able to come on missions while his teammates advanced ahead of him faster than he could keep up with. But Obito had always been determined right after brutally honest. He spent his down time on chakra control, growing his reserves, and studying chakra natures until he was back on his feet.
Rin’s issues for the longest time had been in feeling incredibly inferior. Once Obito had rejoined the team, practically a brand-new ninja, she had suffered a huge blow to her confidence. Kakashi worked so much better with Obito offensively, and she fell more to the sidelines.
It had taken her a while to accept that her strengths simply lied elsewhere. Where Obito was all explosive firepower and frightening brute strength, and Kakashi had a mind sharper than her most treasured kunai and the speed to match, she was their support. She could mend a six-inch gash in less than a minute, so long as they didn’t mind the scars. She could feed them chakra on the rare occasions they needed it, and off the battlefield, had listened to Obito’s venting more times than she could count. And she had learned to become content with this, because without her, they would fall apart.
Which is why she had no idea what to expect when facing her “true self” at the Waterfall of Truth.
Kushina had recounted facing the part of herself that resented the ninja world for destroying her home, nearly taking her husband’s team from him twice, and rejecting her as a kid simply for her hair color. The world was unfair, is what she’d said, and she had to accept that. It wasn’t easy, and of course she still struggled with it today, but she’d committed herself to making a change in the world to combat this.
Rin felt that she had a fairly true sense of herself, so she had no idea what to expect. Would it simply be her worst fear? It couldn’t be, because she’d know it was fake.
They stopped at the shore of the small pool, Obito and Kakashi each sending her a reassuring smile. She could do this, easy.
When she stepped into the spray of the water and settled on the small island, she didn’t expect the burst of chakra from ahead.
“You’re wasting your time.”
She gasped and looked up. Herself, but not.
“Kakashi and Obito are here to support you, but that’s not their role. They should be on the front lines. Konoha’s going to be destroyed by Kakuzu and Hidan should you stall here any longer.”
Kakuzu and Hidan, a strange pairing set on killing Minato and Kushina for their bounty. And Rin on some level, knew that Not-Rin was right. But all the same, “I’m not. I have to be here to learn how to work with Isobu so we can save Konoha.”
“You could just summon his powers to yourself,” not-her said, rolling her eyes. “Seriously. This is a waste of time.”
“It’s not. I can become stronger.”
“Stronger than the nine-tails? Who’s inevitably going to die because you all aren’t there?“
Less than a second later, Not-Her fist collided with her face and she was sent flying out into the water, Kakashi and Obito standing above her.
They fished her out while she groaned, cradling her nose and trying not to cry. “Sages,” she spat, scrubbing at her face once she was on steady feet.
“What happened?” Obito asked, a firm hand on her shoulder. She could feel his tension and anxiety, and wondered if maybe Not-Her was right. Maybe she should go back.
“I just…we need to go back,” she said, rubbing her eyes. “I mean, I can just like…draw on some of Isobu’s power. There’s no need for me to go through all this training, and by that time it’ll probably be too late and Konoha will be destroyed or something—“
A sharp pain shot up her foot and she yelped, turning and swinging at the culprit. Kakashi caught her fist of course, and looked her dead in the eye. “You’re not trusting yourself,” he said, releasing her hand and foot. “Or us. You need to do this, it’s probably the only way we can win.”
“But why when I can just draw on Isobu’s power?” she asked, jerking herself free from their grip. “It always works out fine that way!”
“Because we need a defensive player,” Kakashi explained calmly. “Kushina and the Kyuubi are offensive. So are all the jonin, and their defenses wouldn’t even stand a chance against Kakuzu.” Kakashi met her gaze evenly, as did Obito next to him, and said, “Trust me on this. Please.”
She studied them both warily, then shook herself and sighed. “Fine. I’ll try one more time,” she said, pushing past them.
“Trust yourself!” Obito called after her, and then they disappeared and she was met again with herself.
“Seriously?”
“Look, I’m not a genius strategist like Kakashi, so I don’t have any idea what he’s planning, but I’m going to put all my trust in him for this. And I’m going to trust myself to finish this process.”
“But—“
She held up a hand to silence her other self, frowning in disapproval. “Is this the scariest thing I’ve probably ever done? Yeah. I—I’m terrified of everybody dying because I took too long. But Kakashi seems to think that what I want to do won’t work, and he’s asking me to trust him, so I’m going to.” She sucked in a breath, hoping her other self could decipher the words out of the word vomit that had become the end of the sentence.
Her other self looked shocked, then shrank away. Sensing this was not a good outcome, Rin sucked in a breath and held out a hand. “I could…use some support with this, though. Together? As a whole?”
Her other self froze, then stepped forward. Hesitantly, she took her hand and said, “I’m sorry for punching you in the face.”
“It’s okay, I think I needed it,” she responded shakily, and the hand in hers disappeared and her teammates were in front of her again. They looked concerned, curious. That was quickly replaced with terror when she fell to her knees and hunched over the grass, a full-body shake wracking her body.
“I’m so fucking scared!” she whisper-yelled as soon as they were at her side, and sunk into Obito’s side where he was kneeled next to her. “I did it,” she reassured. “But I’m soooo terrified.“
“We all are,” Obito said, grabbing her hand. “But we’re determined, too. We’re gonna make it back in time.”
“Speaking of,” Kakashi said, picking anxiously at the metal plate on his glove. “Like, now.”
.:.
On the way back, Rin attempted contact with Isobu. To her surprise, it worked.
Little one, he rumbled.
I need your help, she thought back urgently as they leaped through the trees. My village is about to be destroyed.
And why should I help you humans?
Because we need it?
A strange feeling stirred in her gut, one that was familiar after recent events, and she laughed aloud.
Did you not see me just face the worst part of myself? I mean I know that whatever you’re feeling probably doesn’t compare to what I had going on, but still. I went through that for you. Is it fair to ask the same?
I’ve only been imprisoned and used by you humans. And I can’t help but be wary of that Uchiha boy.
Obito? Why?
I’m able to be controlled by Sharingan. Should things get dire, there’s a real possibility that you sacrifice yourself, he pulls me out, and I’m to do his bidding of dealing with whatever threat you’re dealing with.
Ouch, that bites. So Rin had nearly sacrificed herself once because of Isobu; that’s how he viewed her?
…fair enough.
Well chances are we won’t have to do that if you help us, she argued. Kakashi has a plan, and it involves me using your powers to defend everyone.
What would I gain from helping you?
They were nearing the village. I don’t have time to bargain.
Freedom. The want for freedom coursed through her veins and Rin shuddered, nearly losing her footing.
You want to be free? Silence. I’m not sure how much I can get you. But I’m willing to fight for you if you help me with this. And tell you what, Kushina probably is too.
Contemplating silence. Then, I will allow you some of my power so I may see what you plan to do with it.
I hope your judgement is well, Rin thought back, smoke and dust in view now.
.:.
They had wisely drawn Kakuzu away from the village and were now battling him out in a clearing of fallen trees. However Hidan was still a presence in the village, wreaking general havoc among the people.
Kakashi was quick to action, his tanto in hand as he dropped from the sky. An orange book fluttered into the air and Obito rolled his eyes as he teleported it to Kamui, turning both Sharingan to Rin.
“Are you ready?“
“I sure hope so,” she murmured, taking off after him. She worried for Kakashi, but trusted he could handle himself if he didn’t call them over.
Kakuzu had yet to take out any jonin, but they all stood exhausted and injured on the sidelines.
“Help them later,” Obito said, landing next to Asuma, who stood with his blades and a determined expression. “We’ve got it from here,” Obito said, and Asuma stepped back with a quiet, “Thank the Sages.”
Four creatures of swirling mass stood before Kakuzu, each with a mask painted a different color.
“Each one is one of his ‘hearts.’ They use a specific chakra nature according to their mask color; red is fire, purple is wind, yellow is lightning, and blue is water,” Asuma explained, patting Obito on the back. “Good luck.”
“Awesome,” Obito said, and ran forward. As a close range fighter, this should’ve been an easier battle for him. But the second he was in range, the hearts reared back and spit their respective natures at the ninja. He was first bathed in a blast of fire, expanded by the wind from the heart with the purple mask.
Without thinking, Rin slammed a hand to the ground, chakra sprinting towards Obito’s position. He crouched down, preparing a mud wall to block the fire, but stopped when the ground before him exploded and a wall of coral shielded him from the flames. The fire wrapped around the dome but didn’t touch Obito, and the coral was only let down when the fire ceased.
Isobu? Rin thought in awe, and sensed a nod from the beast inside.
Grinning, she stepped forward and analyzed the scene. Obito would be able to dodge any physical attacks with Kamui should it come to it, but sparing use of that would be best. Since Rin’s natural water affinity was now boosted by Isobu, she could probably take down the fire mask. At least.
“I’ll work on the wind mask,” Obito called to her, then attacked it head-on, forcing its focus away from Rin.
Rin faced the fire mask, which seemed to vibrate in place with energy. As soon as she shifted her stance, it readied a fireball, throwing its head back.
This is your chance! Isobu yelled at her, and sent the same coral-creating chakra down her pathways. When she slammed her hand to the ground, coral once again exploded into the air, but this time in the form of vines that wove their way around the form of the creature; not touching, however. As soon as it faced Rin to release the jutsu, the coral vines tightened to a crushing hold, one speeding from its neck to the mask and breaking it clean in two.
The form melted away with a withering screech, and the coral retreated.
Now she had Kakuzu’s attention. The man directed his other two natures at her and she froze, unused to direct conflict. How was she going to beat them? The lightning mask was far too fast for her coral to catch, and she wouldn’t be able to touch the water nature with the former still alive.
Don’t touch the water nature’s jutsu unless you want to get electrocuted, Isobu said to her as she dodged a spray of water. Then, she noticed one of the lightning nature’s hands on the side of the water’s. She grimaced; this was going to be an issue, if it was feeding the other chakra like Isobu had said.
So she needed to separate them, then. She could try that.
She formed a few quick signs, then clapped her hands together, releasing a gust of wind that blew both natures back a few feet. They were no longer touching, which meant she could take damage from them individually should she need to.
Behind the natures, she saw a mud wall go up, then a burst of wild flame. She could only hope that was Obito’s doing, because just that brief moment of distraction had lost her one too many important seconds.
The lightning bolt struck true, and she cried out in pain, collapsing to the ground. Isobu hurt inside of her as well, and for a moment, she felt the doubt of herself creep in.
She’d helped, but by how much? Would Konoha be able to make it out of this? Minato and Kushina?
Water! Isobu groaned inside of her. His thoughts pointed towards the water mask urgently.
Well, that didn’t make sense. What would water do to a water nature?
Still, she had no better ideas. So, she drew on some of Isobu’s gifted chakra, formed a single staggering hand sign to channel the chakra, then directed it at the water mask.
It was turned away, focused on Obito while Rin was immobilized, so it didn’t see the blast coming. It was hit, then suddenly it was being electrocuted as well, screeching out in pain as it writhed in place.
“Obito!” she yelled out, and her teammate appeared in the air above the nature, striking a kunai into the mask. The mask of the lightning nature broke simultaneously from the same treatment, a kunai dropped from somewhere in the sky, and she collapsed, still seizing and breathing hard.
But now Kakuzu was their enemy, and she couldn’t leave Obito to face him alone. She forced herself up, wincing at her muscles’ protest, before she was forced back down by a gentle hand.
“Heal yourself first,” Kakashi instructed. He ran over to Obito, some invisible message being . He was missing his flak jacket and headband, she noticed, but was otherwise uninjured.
She did as told, laying back and channeling her own chakra throughout herself to help her muscles recoup. As she did, she observed Kakuzu’s power; a strong earth affinity, and insane physical prowess. He was just as fast as Kakashi and could easily keep up and even overpower Obito’s brute strength. They were evenly matched as it stood.
Until Obito’s punch was caught not by Kakuzu’s hand, but by several thick wires that split from Kakuzu’s body. Obito tried to jerk his hand away but it was no use. The wires flung Obito away, into the trees surrounding the clearing. Kakashi cursed and dodged away, but the wires only kept following.
Now was her chance to intervene, Isobu urged. Right. She mentally reinforced her belief in herself before she body flickered in front of Kakashi, drawing on a new power which she questioned briefly to Obito.
You want to fight for your team, was all Isobu said. Rin raised her hands and the wires were deflected by the hardened shell that materialized on her arms.
“Yo, Rin,” Kakashi said, somewhat concerned and…awed?
She looked behind her, curious as to what he was talking about, only to find herself covered in a white cloak that split into three different “tails.”
“Oh,” she said, then grinned. “Sick. Thanks, Isobu. I’m gonna negotiate like hell for your freedom when we win this.”
Approval radiated from within her and she reached back to help Kakashi to his feet.
“I’m not sure how to defeat him now,” her teammate admitted, brushing his clothes off. “But he definitely controls them. We’d have to like…incinerate him, or something equivalent.”
Destroy him on a molecular level, Isobu said. I might have something that can help with that, but it can’t be used around so many people without hurting them too.
“We need to draw him away,” Rin said, just as Obito reappeared next to her, unharmed. “Or can we get the other jonin away?”
“On it,” Obito said, already flashing signs at Genma, who began directing people away.
While he worked on Kamui-ing people away, Rin and Kakashi defended them from Kakuzu’s constant onslaught of attacks. Their defense was certainly something, consisting of Kakashi body flickering the two of them from place to place while Rin blocked the wires with her new chakra.
“Clear!” Obito shouted from behind them. Isobu immediately began channeling chakra towards Rin’s fist, inwardly urging her to attack Kakuzu.
Punch him as hard as you can, he rumbled, and Rin grinned, deflecting one last blow before she removed herself from Kakashi and sprinted forward. The chakra materialized in the form of a massive clawed fist, in similar shape to Isobu’s. “Oh, sick,” she muttered before leaping into the air, tucking her legs to avoid the grip of wires, then angling herself to strike Kakuzu down.
He staggered, unbalanced, and chakra exploded from Rin’s core. She landed, letting it flow, watching as Kakuzu suddenly jerked and shouted. The wires seized and fell from their position, flopping uselessly to the ground.
Shockwaves, Isobu said. Or, some form of them. These are concentrated enough that it should hurt.
“Smart,” Rin murmured, turning away. Kakashi and Obito had disappeared, likely to Kamui, and she could see why. The dirt rippled and shook with the force of the power, and even the trees on the opposite side of the clearing creaked and groaned.
After a few minutes, Kakuzu fell. To be safe, Rin knelt down and checked his inner bodily functions to make sure they really had all stopped, relieved and a little disturbed to find that all the chakra pathways had been severed.
Obito and Kakashi reappeared next to her, Kakashi looking a little more worse for wear than before.
“What happened?” she asked, concerned and pressing green hands to his chest and head to check for irregularities.
“Some asshole was too slow to catch me before your jutsu went off,” Kakashi grumbled, hugging his middle. “I only got hit for a few seconds, though, so I’m fine. Just dizzy.”
Obito stiffened when Rin turned a harsh glare on him, raising his hands placatingly.
“Well I’m just glad you’re both okay,” Rin finally sighed, then turned to Kakashi. “How did you end up defeating Hidan?”
“Shikaku helped me with that,” Kakashi said. “He’s immortal, but can’t do much when he’s chopped into little bits.” He shrugged, and Rin huffed a small laugh.
“Right. Well, I have to negotiate a certain Tailed Beast’s freedom with Minato, and probably go help out in the hospital afterwards. I better see you there, Kakashi.”
“Maa…”
.:.
“I’m perfectly fine with Isobu being freed so long as he poses no danger to us,” Minato said, “but is there any way we can form some sort of alliance? It would be really helpful to have him around when needed.”
I wouldn’t mind that, Isobu said. But only in serious situations like today. I don’t want to be called on whenever I could/ be used.
“Oh, of course. Me and Minato will be the only ones able to call on you,” she explained. “You won’t have to worry about that. And you can still refuse, but uh…I’d rather it not come to that.”
“Then it sounds like we’ve come to an agreement?” Minato asked hopefully.
“I think so,” Rin agreed, smiling at the approval from Isobu. “I’ll release him so he can return to his dimension outside of the village. Thanks, Minato.”
The Hokage nodded in return and she walked out.
Out on the plateau where she’d first experienced Isobu’s power, she released him. He nodded his thanks before disappearing into his own dimension, leaving the plateau empty once more.
She didn’t see Kakashi in the hospital, unfortunately, but all that meant was she had to march over to his house after healing everybody else and help him there. Obito was already there, in the middle of replacing a warm towel for Kakashi’s head, the warm scent of his family’s cooking wafting through the house.
“I can’t believe you made me come all the way here,” she grumbled with no real malice, taking the towel from Obito so he could return to the kitchen.
“Maa, maybe I did it because I wanted you here,” Kakashi replied, throwing an arm over his eyes.
Rin huffed a laugh and began her search for what needed to be regulated. “Yuck, you really are wiped out, getting all mushy like that.”
.:.
some worldbuilding notes:
ninjas probably generate pure water when using jutsu, unless they’re using prexisting water. pure water does not conduct electricity. but i think that an experienced ninja with an earth and water affinity could create water w minerals and stuff so that it does conduct electricity.
kakuzu’s water heart probably collects and stores prexisting water for battles where it needs to team up with the lightning nature.
with isobu’s chakra, rin probably generates salt water over pure water, which is why she was able to electrocute the water nature.
ummmm yes i’ll be drawing rin in the cloak dw i love her she’s best

KNOCK KNOCK BESTIE I'M HERE TO DELIVER ANGST
So. I was thinking. Sakumo, right? Failed mission, died, yadda yadda. However. What if he didn't die, but let anyone think he did?
Imma explain myself, I promise
I thought of this AU while in the shower, clearly the best place to get awesome ideas. I'm a supporter of the theory that Danzō used ROOT to sabotage Sakumo's mission and then started spreading rumors to turn the village on him, because Sakumo had the possibility to become a major thorn in Danzō's plans so he wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible
(Just like I think he had a hand on spreading hate against the Uchiha, but I digress)
Anyway. So. One day, Kakashi is at the academy and Sakumo is alone at home. He's miserable. He's seen how people treat Kakashi just for being the son of a disgrace like Sakumo, so what if Sakumo just dies? Then, surely, people will go back to treating Kakashi normally. Right? He's debating it, when there's a knock on the door and lo and behold, Danzō is on the other side with a speech at the ready about the way the village is treating Sakumo, faking to be on his side, and bringing a solution
To restore his name, he must die as a hero. Not only that, but he must work hard to help the village from within its shadows, where the village itself cannot judge him anymore
Sakumo is not entirely convinced, but no matter how little he trusts Danzō he has no reason or real proof to not listen to him, and Danzō? Danzō tries to sway him with a little bit of Sharingan
We know from Obito that the Sharingan can mind control people to some extent, in fact he does it with Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, and while it can be broken (like Ao does when he realizes Yagura is under Sharingan influence), it can only be done if the control is detected
So, with great care of what Danzō says and a tiny bit of Sharingan help (not too much, or Sakumo might notice it), he slowly sways Sakumo towards faking his 'hero death' and joining ROOT afterwards, while Danzō promises full protection towards Kakashi and that nothing bad will ever happen to that boy, Sakumo's most precious person, and that the village will stop treating him wrongly solely for his father's name
Sakumo accepts. Goes on a mission with two ROOT agents who come back alone and tell everyone about how Sakumo fought until the bitter end and died to protect his teammates and to ensure that they'd be able to finish the mission and go back to the village safely, and since dying heroically is a sure way to be forgiven by everyone immediately (not that Sakumo did anything wrong and needed to be 'forgiven', poor man, but in the eyes of the village... Yeah), he immediately becomes a hero and a legend
Meanwhile Sakumo comes back a couple days later in the middle of the night, disguised and hidden in the shadows to not be seen, and joins ROOT to protect the village from its shadows. And Danzō keeps his word, more or less. No one treats Kakashi badly anymore (even though Sakumo has no idea Danzō himself was behind the majority of the rumors when they started, so it was oh so easy to stop them as well) and he does make sure that he's protected... When Sakumo's around. Meaning, when he does stuff like sending Kinoe to try and take the Sharingan he also sends Sakumo away on a mission so he'll never know, things like that to keep up the façade
And instead of the son of the disgraced White Fang, Kakashi grows up as the son of the fallen hero White Fang, fully convinced that his dad died a heroic death. And who knows, Sakumo might be found out later on when Kakashi's an adult
Thoughts on the idea?
I have so many thoughts. This is so cool and interesting!
Sakumo chooses to give up his freedom and 'die' for his village just so Kakashi can have an opportunity to live outside of his shadow. To not be the son of a failure.
Not even thinking about how his 'death' might affect his son because he'll have a better life, right? He'll be alright and everything will go better for him.
Kakashi still going through those major losses but having that sense of team work right away because his father died a hero for saving his team. Always trying to do his best to be the hero his father was and wondering how he keeps going so wrong because his teammates keep dying on him.
And Danzo being Danzo would probably find a way to twist everything that happens to Kakashi into being Hiruzen's fault. Convincing Sakumo that everything that has gone wrong in his life has somehow been Hiruzen's fault. Maybe even using Shisui's eye (after obtaining it of course) to really put those thoughts into Sakumo's head and make him even more loyal
Danzo uses Kakashi to control Sakumo more and more, and hating that Kakashi seems to have gained this independence and fierce will that Sakumo doesn't have. A strong sense of conviction that Danzo can't seem to break no matter how hard he tries.
Sakumo watches from the shadows as his son grows up and struggles, but never gives up. Never allows that darkness to consume him no matter how much life pushes down on him, and wondering if he could have been that strong. If he should have held on and kept fighting.
there's so many emotiosn to explore. Sakumo would have so many regrets about it all, but he can't do anything. He's dead. Long gone.
No one in Konoha would belive him if he came back

i love how sasuke haters accuse sasuke fans of being biased to the point we condone sasuke's wish to commit genocide and excuse everything bad that sasuke did while they stan characters that did way more shit than him. like they bitch about all the shit sasuke did and they turn around and stan characters like gaara?? obito??? itachi??? gaara literally killed for sports and for the fun of it until he got his ass beaten and tnjed by naruto and then he suddenly became this nice guy. and the people in his village had no problem to allow him to become kazekage despite him having been a psychopath for years?? if he was able to become kazekage after something like that, why couldn't sasuke become hokage, for example? i can't express how tired i am of people insulting me for being a sasuke fan, calling me stupid and whatever while those people are so fucking full of shit and have ZERO self awareness. the worst sasuke did was kill some samurais in self defense, threaten to kill some shitty people, which he gave up on doing anyway, and yet those bitches won't get off his dick while stanning and making excuses for characters that ACTUALLY killed innocent people for fun? i have nothing against him, but i gotta love how people give gaara a free pass for everything despite him being, in part 1, worse than sasuke ever was, while they constantly bash sasuke. make it make sense
Let’s not forget that Temari, the girl-power character everyone loves, was smiling joyfully and taunting the victims when Gaara was brutally killing fodders in the forest. Meanwhile Sasuke couldn’t even kill Orochimaru’s henchmen because he was “too soft” as Orochimaru said. People also died during the invasion to Konoha but I don’t see people calling the sand siblings “irredeemable”. So they had their reasons? So did Sasuke. Team 7 could have died but Sasuke’s words to Naruto gave him motivation to protect Sasuke and Sakura and beat Gaara. (I’m not hating on Temari btw)
Tumblr media
It’s funny how they mention genocide when the only genocide that happened was towards the Uchiha lol. Not that anyone cares about it or think Konoha should pay any reparations. And they also genuinely think Konoha which discriminated the Uchiha for decades leading to the extermination of them should be allowed to imprison or execute the last living one. Do people in the Naruto fandom understand you can’t prosecute people for saying stuff they never act on or even come up with a comprehensive plan for. Sasuke had a clear opening and didn’t do it not to mention he helped save the village anyway. It’s almost like people say stuff in a severe psychological breakdown without going through with it.
There are real life victims of genocide and state violence as well as child soldiers that have violent ideations that don’t lead to anything, it’s hard for normal people to understand how mentally broken these type of experiences can leave people. Sasuke’s comments during team 7 reunion during Kages arc are actually uncomfortably realistic, many victims of violent massacre have violent thoughts and feelings. I’ve read about cases where victims wanted even the children dead, the thing they said were messed up and uncomfortable but it was all because of how broken the experiences had left them, it’s honestly sad.
People should sometime talk to people who deal with things like these as their daily work, or read about it. This is the reason we have things like rehabilitation and therapy, people who have suffered severe injustice don’t need prison or execution. Not that I mind Sasuke having self-reflection or even doing  community work, but what he truly needed was understanding and someone to validate his feelings, as well as some help. And no, “power of friendship” is not the same at all and I don’t get why people think it’s realistic it would heal people like that.
By the way, this seething Sasuke hate comes mostly from the west, I remember someone once mentioned being confused why people hate Sasuke, and saying this must be western people misunderstanding his character or something. I think partly it might be that, but I also think people don’t want to understand characters like this. Look at how everyone adores the army in Fullmetal Alchemist, especially characters like Mustang or Olivier who are both war criminals who massmurdered Ishvalans, Olivier even defending the genocide. Why is it that we are okay forgiving and liking characters for committing war crimes and massmurdering disadvantaged people but not when victims lash out after years of psychological abuse and trauma?
Anyway, continue on your Sasuke loving, he’s great! Don’t care about other people’s opinions.

REWRITING NARUTO ROMANCES SO THEY DONT SUCK
We all know that the romance in Naruto is trash and Kishimoto himself admitted to not knowing how to write female characters and getting embarrassed by romantic scenes…so let’s fix that shit
part 1: NaruHina
(I wrote this down as my notes for the post but I actually like it this way so I’m just copy and paste my raw thoughts lol if you get offended you can write a letter to your local congressman, prime minister, or whoever rules over provinces in other countries)
First let’s shit on the original ship shall we
Naruhina…
- what the fuck was the build up to this relationship
- “I respect naruto and I want to be like him! But I’m too shy to talk to him! I even fainted when I saw him after the blank period! JK I HAVE MEGA HUGE BALLS AND CONFRONTED PAIN TO SAVE NARUTO!!!! Confessed my love and got my ass kicked….then didn’t speak to him until the fourth great ninja war and now we’re married with two kids” what the Fuck
- Also can we just talk about how after Hinata confessed her love…and literally almost died for naruto…he didn’t say SHIT to her after he defeated pain, and it was like she never confessed in the first place Lmfao
- He still liked Sakura! But Sakura always loved Sasuke so wtf
- He even was like “YEAH YEAH” when Minuto asked if Sakura was his girlfriend during the war. Then ten minutes later he’s holding hands with hinata and their love and shit (ft the rest of the ASF) and going up against fucking madara obito whatever… what the fuck
- AND THEN BAM THEY GET MARRIED AWWWWWWWWBWBWBWBLEEHHHH
- It makes no sense bro—people say Sasuke never shows his love for Sakura,…to me, naruto never gave a shit about Hinata, at least not romantically (he literally acted like her existence was forgotten for 3/4s of the show; at least Sasuke always acknowledged Sakura from the start)
- It also feels like narutos crush on Sakura was never resolved (I know that they’re supposed to be shown realizing that they aren’t into each other in The Last but…bro isn’t that way too fuckin late to make sense lmfao) He just suddenly shacked up with Hinata???? Bc her cousin died….Idk man that’s kinda fucked up lmfao
So let’s fucking fix this shitshow
- I get that Hinata is shy and stuff but that bitch is a fucking hyuga SHE IS POWERFUL SO GIVE HER MORE SCREENTIME KICKING ASS
- And can we??? Give her more lines in the first part???? Other than “n…n…naruto….” “N-naruto?” “Naruto!” Like wtf was that dude that shit was way more annoying to me than anything.
- We all know Hinata has thoughts feelings and opinions (as humans do) so let’s have her voice them sometimes okay
- Being shy doesn’t automatically make you mostly mute and constantly stuttering
- That stereotype makes me want to crush skulls bro
- Can we give her some balls before pains fight bc that made no sense
- Like maybe standing up to neji even a little bit and defending herself more during the chuunin exams
- I’m not saying she has to be like “HEY SHITHEAD IM GONNA KICK YOUR ASS” bc that’s totally out of character but she totally could’ve been like “Hey you’re kinda wrong and pls show me respect as a member of your clan and an equal leaf shinobi”
- Also I get that Hinata was inspired by naruto but can we stop making every female character’s rise to power and want to be stronger related to a dude?
- Like fine if she was inspired by him but I think it would’ve been way more of a credit Hinata as a person if naruto simply REMINDED her of that part of herself that’s dedicated to proving her family wrong
- I’m just gonna write this as if it happened this way
- She keeps par with Neji, and does ultimate lose but it makes Neji see that Hinata is actually strong and a formidable opponent
- No more shit eating grins from that ego maniac
- And after Hinata battles Neji, she confronts naruto and thanks him for reminding her of her inner strength
- Naruto, who’s surprised that Hinata is talking to him, is like “yeah, sure thing, hinata. You did great!”
- And that opens the door for their real friendship
- Hinata is someone naruto can confide in about Sasuke, and he trusts her
- Hinata becomes someone that gives naruto compassionate advice, and he cherishes her comforting nature
- Then in part 2 after they’re all a bit older, naruto is kinda like “o” when he sees that Hinata has come into her wOmaNhOoD and he’s attracted to her.
- During the blank period he worked through his feelings and realized he only liked Sakura bc of his rivalry with Sasuke. End of that crap
- But naruto is dense as fuck and doesn’t see Hinata in a romantic way until she stands up for him against pain
- Hinata holds her own against pain for a bit bc she’s powerful in her own right but does get her ass beat anyway bc yk rinnegan and everything
- Naruto loses his shit seeing her cut down in front of him and defeats the last pain
- After naruto gives one of his MOTIVATIONAL SPEECHES and changes nagato before his death, the entire village greets him as a hero
- Instead of Sakura running up to him to hug him in that strangely intimate way that’s out of character bc she doesn’t fucking like him that way
- Sakura gives naruto a good hug and is like “you did it buddy you’re pretty cool ig”
- Then naruto talks to Hinata bc she??? Confessed her love? And took a massive beating for him???
- And they start a sort of flirty relationship where they both like each other but like waaaay too much is going on to actually date
- Like they try to between pains assault and the five mage summit but with the news of Sasukes massive downfall and the bounty on his head naruto is like dude I can’t do this rn
- And Hinata is cool so ofc she understands even tho she’s a bit sad
- And during the war when minato asks if Sakura is narutos girlfriend he says “😅 no dad, we’re just good friends”
- Then he holds hands with Hinata and the village and sings kumbaya to kick the fuck out of madara obito
- Then they get married and shit proceeds as normal
- Except in boruto when everyone returns from the battle in the other dimension she doesn’t run up to naruto first okay she hugs her SON and says “thank goodness you’re safe!” And then hugs naruto and thanks him for his work
God fuck okay I’m done

Hey. So why do you think Naruto inspires such varying interpretations amongst viewers and readers? On the one hand, there are responsible viewers or readers who pay attention to the story no matter who they ship or don't ship. Facts are facts. On the other, there are those who blatantly practice selective viewing or reading. And the latter, I feel are more in number. As a fan of this work, I get quite frustrated and angry. Because they insult the craft and skill of storytelling when they do this selective shit. And more than their shipping, what bothers me is this blatant refusal to accept the story as it is. There are many narrative flaws in Naruto the story, but despite all of that, the story of Sasuke and Naruto is just beautiful. And even if you don't ship them, don't ignore the story itself. How is it that a story which is literally about these two is just skipped or ignored, just like that? One may not feel it's what they like or prefer, but again, facts are facts. If you ignore those, you aren't a fan. And then they have the audacity to practice this high handed manner of telling others what right and what's not! Who are you to talk, you didn't even pay attention to the story?!! I saw the NH comment in your anon ask and I thought, the first line of the comment says - Naruto forgot to tell Hinata after her confession in the pein arc.
Like no ......you can't just assume that. Stick to the story, don't go outside the framework of the story to justify your headcanon. And then they have the balls to call themselves smart?? Like, I find it crazy..
[[Disclaimer : Extremist Sasuke fans who thinks, ‘Sasuke did Nothing Wrong’ Do Not Interact. Anti Konoha stans who wished to see a burnt Konoha, Do not Interact. Uchiha apologists, Do not Interact]]
WHY NARUTO INSPIRES VARYING INTERPRETATIONS?
And then they have the audacity to practice this high handed manner of telling others what right and what's not! Who are you to talk, you didn't even pay attention to the story?!!
You are absolutely right here, Anon.
This is something that annoys me like crazy. This is called Gatekeeping and I hate it. I am finding this behaviour common in every Naruto fandoms, especially Sakura, Hinata and mostly Sasuke fans.
I don't know if you read my other posts, Anon, I don't hate Konoha (but I don't crazily love it either). I feel Konoha is just like every other country in our real world with good stuffs as well as darkness. So, I am not an Anti Konoha person who wants to burn it. I am just like Naruto, Kakashi, Itachi and eventually Sasuke who wants to change the darkness in Konoha without giving into hatred. If you want me to point out Konoha’s darkness I am all for it.. I can write so many things that’s wrong in Konoha. [[Because, It somehow resembles a typical village from my country... Damn!!! Why do I see all these similarities even though I am not from Japan... Grrr]]
Also, I love every Uchihas in a different way. Say, I love Obito when he was 12. I love Madara for his badass IDGAF attitude and wild obsession towards Hashirama, I love Itachi very much because I see myself in him and I love Sasuke because I see my sister in him. But I always condemn Uchiha clan's plan to conduct Coup D’etat using violent methods.
My point is : Just Because I love every Uchiha characters individually, I don’t have to support their clan. [[The Joke is, even none of those Uchiha characters gave a damn about their own clan. Madara wanted to screw them up. Obito wanted to screw them up. Itachi massacred them. Sasuke clearly voiced out that ‘Only my brother Itachi has the right to talk about Uchiha’, meaning Sasuke agrees with Itachi. Even in his ‘Revolution’, he never claimed he was doing this for his clan. He instead claimed, he was doing it for the whole shinobi world. Which means he moved on from the trappings of his Clan. And now he is not even wearing his clan crest]]
So, Extremist Sasuke stans consider me as a person who supports Genocide and an anti-Uchiha, Which I am clearly not. There is this SNS blogger who is slandering me recently like a coward that I don't deserve to write something about SNS and I am not a true Sasuke fan and indirectly badmouthing about me that I shouldn't write any post about Sasuke.
I was like, 'Who the fuck are you to say this?'.
By that logic, I can also ask them
'Do you have any Idea about Asian Clan culture?
Do you know how frequent Clan Massacre happens in a clan infrastructure based society? [[Even in Narutoverse, Uchiha clan, Kaguya clan was massacred... Uzushio village was massacred which includes Uzumaki clan.. Juugo massacred an entire village.. Orochimaru killed 60 innocent babies.... Kirigakure experienced many such massacres..... So, my point is Massacre is common in Feudal Japan, that’s why they call it as Clan Warfare. Do not judge Narutoverse with a lens based on today’s world  where the culture is much different from feudal Japan]]
Do you know what was the reason behind every massacre that happens in a clan based society?
Do you know, in a clan based society, if a clan was suspected for certain crime and if that crime was never proved by finding the true culprit, then the entire clan has to take responsibility?? [[It’s just like in Hinata’s kidnapping issue, Cloud village put the entire blame on Konoha, because they couldn’t prove that the messenger Kumo sent for allied treaty had indeed attempted Kidnapping. So, Konoha took the entire blame and sent Neji’s Father Hizashi as a dead meat .... Same Logic applies with Clan also. So, As long as Uchiha clan couldn’t find the culprit behind Kyuubi incident, Uchiha clan will be blamed... This is how clan based society works. And that’s why it sucks.]]
Do you know how cruel the clan culture is? [[ a friend of friend of friend of mine, who was pregnant carrying an 8 month old unborn child, was mercilessly killed by her own clan members just because she married a boy from another inferior clan.. this happened 4 years ago in my country]]
Do you know, even a government cannot easily involve into internal affairs of the clan??? [[Remember Nara clan has a secret forest base where no one other than Nara members will be allowed there. And that Cursed Mark for Branch family in Hyuuga clan... No one from Konoha, not even Hokage can ask them to stop this tradition unless someone from their own clan is willing to stop it. And Uchiha clan has their secret stone tablet which will never be shown to outsiders unless someone from Uchiha wants to... ]]
Do you know that the purpose of a clan infrastructure is to show Superiority Ass to other clans and always wants to dominate weaker clans???
So, if you don't know any of these things, How can you possibly talk about Naruto series?'
I can ask all the above things to them and slander them to stop writing posts on Naruto series or about a Clan.
But I won't. Because everyone has their own perspective about certain things and they have every right to share their views. But slandering others citing, 'If you support XXX you are not supposed to write about XXX', is just dumbfuckery to the power of million.
So why do you think Naruto inspires such varying interpretations amongst viewers and readers?
I think it all comes down to these 5 things
From whose POV you are watching this series
Deviating from what the author wanted to convey and expecting something else
Blurring the lines between Reality and Fiction
Cultural difference
Apologist Attitude
FROM WHOSE POV YOU ARE WATCHING THE SERIES
This is the biggest factor that influences the differing opinions and interpretations.
Well, we have Naruto and Sasuke here. Inside their world, without their consent, both were pushed into a situation called Loneliness and both of them suffered a lot and hated it.
However Naruto being an optimistic person decided to look for more people to acknowledge his existence. Sasuke being a pessimistic person decided to stay away from people because of the pain he already endured.
You can watch this series from any of these boys' POV and draw your own conclusion.
But,
Naruto, the series was always written from the POV of Naruto. Whether you want to accept this or not, but that's the fact. So, the author's intention is to see optimism in everything. I certainly watched it from the POV of Naruto (& Itachi). I watched it from Sasuke's POV on my re-watch.
Does it means, me or the author condemns you to not watch it from Sasuke's POV?
No. You must and should watch from Sasuke’s POV.
Because if you watch from Sasuke’s POV, at one point you will realize that you cannot travel this path based on Hatred any longer. And Sasuke loved two people in Narutoverse unconditionally, that is, Itachi and Naruto. If both of his precious people are standing opposite to him and his ideals, no matter how strong you are, you want to know why they chose that path and ideal? And Sasuke did exactly that, by wanting to know ‘Why Itachi went so far for Konoha to the point of killing his parents?’. He asked these hard hitting questions to all the Hokages and he got the answer. And he came to the conclusion by himself without Itachi’s or Naruto’s influence.
Because, if the author wants you to watch only from Naruto’s POV, Kishi wouldn't have written the ending in such a way to blow up both of the boys' arms, he should've made Naruto to come out as the easy winner just like he faced every other villain so far and won the battle.
The purpose of that battle is Understanding Each Other. That's all.
Kishi is trying to say that, 'Even though Naruto is an extremely optimistic person who made many friends so far, his life would be incomplete without Sasuke, the earliest bond he ever made and want to secure at all costs. Even though Sasuke is a pessimistic person who cut off every bond he ever had so far, he just couldn't cut off Naruto even though he wanted to. Their bond is the only link between their differing opinions. And how did they overcome their difference? By feeling each other's pain.'
Tumblr media
Sasuke always felt some pain whenever he saw Naruto was hurting inside. Remember how Sasuke motivated Naruto in the War Arc? Because he just couldn't see Naruto weep like a child.
Naruto always felt some pain whenever Sasuke makes a decision that's going to harm himself. Remember how Naruto got hyperventilated when Sasuke was going to be killed? Remember how Naruto got into an extreme rage when he decided to go to Orochimaru who will steal his body eventually?
But stans always likes to side with only one of them.
Naruto (the character) stans terms Sasuke as this emo whiny brat who wants to destroy the world.
Sasuke stans terms Naruto as a Konoha wanker who made Sasuke into submission.
So you see, people get extremely attached to a character and form their own idealized version of their favourite character and make different interpretations. Kishi explicitly written both of their characters to come to an understanding. But their stans never did. Hence, differing opinions and interpretations.
This is what Kishi says (Otsuki is his English Translator).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But whether it's Sasuke or Naruto, optimistic or pessimistic, there's everything in between as well, they're all reflections of some personality that exists in the real world. Fiction is not reality. In reality, there's not always a happy ending, but because this is fiction I guess that's why we end up focusing more or concentrating, highlighting more on the optimistic worldview."
I decided to look at the Naruto series in both Optimistic and Pessimistic lens, and hence I feel the ending is very good which aligns with what Kishimoto tried to convey. People who screams that Sasuke should've gone through with the Revolution, view the series in a pessimistic goggles and their opinions differs from what the author wanted to convey.
However, if you watch this series from the POV of Sakura, you will eventually claim that Sasuke loved only Sakura, that's why he made eyesmex with her, that's why he said 'Thank you' and my Kween can beat the Ass of Madara with her brute strength, Sasuke fought with Naruto in VotE2 because that would make Sakura hate Sasuke forever but Naruto persisted because of the promise he made to her long back and played a third wheel for SS.
You see, Anon, Sakura wankers made the entire VoTE2 battle for their Kween Sakura. Those boys didn’t fight for their ideals. They only fought for Sakura and Sakura alone.
Well, Interpretations like these should be avoided at all costs because it will only make your eyes, nostrils, ears bleed infinitely till you die.
DEVIATING FROM WHAT THE AUTHOR WANTED TO CONVEY AND EXPECTING SOMETHING ELSE
This must be a separate post, but still.
Let's talk about the Child Soldier thing.
I've seen these common complaint in Anti-Kishimoto fandom and also in Sasuke fandom. And I was like, 'What?'
Did Kishimoto ever dedicate an arc to make this a prominent topic? No.
Did Kishimoto reinforce this theme in the beginning, that is, Land of the Wave arc? No.
Then where did this opinion came from, that I failed to notice or at no point I felt this as the major problem of the series that the fandom make it out to be?
Well, Kishimoto resolved this child soldier problem too. But no one seems to notice it. Let me explain it.
In the Land of the Waves Arc, in Chapter 9, we get this information about Shinobi's designation and their jobs to do.
Tumblr media
So, We get to know that there are Genins, Chuunins, Jounins.
Genins are usually given C rank or D rank missions. One can become a Genin at age 12 after graduating  from the Academy and if they chose to not become a Ninja they can opt out too.
If people claim that sending a 12 year old to some missions is wrong, then they should drop this series here. This is shounen Manga and we will eventually see young boys going on adventures all the time. They can't show a 25 year old Ninja and his explorations which would defeat the genre. Added to that, these are the kids who has Chakra potential inside them, meaning, they have power to fight. It not that they are sending some ordinary kid to a dangerous mission.
Anyways, moving on.
Later at some point in the series, we get this information bomb.
Tumblr media
Sasuke entered the Academy at age 7 or 8. So, Itachi must also have enrolled at the same age, but Itachi got graduated at 8 or 9 whereas we saw Sasuke only came out of Academy at 12. So, we could infer that Itachi may be extremely talented or something must have happened which made Itachi to graduate early in such an young age. We don't know what it is. Because Mikoto says, 'Times have changed'. So, back when Itachi got graduated what happened?
This is what happened,
Tumblr media
During Third Ninja World War, we saw Itachi participated in the war at age 4. Now, before pointing out by claiming, 'See, Konoha is bad. Konoha must be a bitch to send a 4 year old to War'..... I would like to tell you that, 'Please don't bring in your real life ideals into feudal Japan'. In my country's history like 100 to 200 years back, I have read that it was common to send little boys to war for the sake of defending their country, but they send them as their last effort though. They will not send their kids right away. I don't know about Japanese literature, but since they put this scene here, it must have happened in Japan as well. I’ve read, in Second World War 14 year old boys were also fighting in the war. So, In feudal era it must be extremely worse, I suppose.
Tumblr media
And Itachi's father Fugaku seems to be okay with it. So, Konoha must have asked for Ninjas to fight in the war. Fugaku must have enrolled Itachi's name. It's not that Itachi was forced to participate in war by Konoha.
I would've attached Canon episodes from Anime, But It would take lot of space. If you want to watch it, Go to shippuden Episode 451. You will see it.
So, what I would like to infer here is that Itachi was a Child Soldier. And due to 3rd Shinobi world war, many ninjas must have died. So, to get more ninjas to send them to missions, Itachi was promoted and was made to graduate at age 8.
[[We also get to know that Team Minato was comprised of full of 12 year old kids to participate in the 3rd shinobi world war. Compared to Itachi, their situation and age were miles better.]]
Now moving on,
There was no mention of child soldiers in this series until we reach Hashirama's flashback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Hashirama cannot tolerate 7 year old kids die pointlessly for the war Adults started. He thinks he wants to change this world to prevent young kids from dying. So he created a Village system along with Madara by uniting Uchiha and Senju clan.
Hashirama shares his grand dreams with Madara
Tumblr media
So, Hashirama clearly mentions,
'Kids don't have to kill each other'
'We'll create a school where kids can train and grow up stronger'
'Assign missions that fit an Individual Abilities and Strength'
'Have superiors who can properly assign ranks to commissions!'
'It'll be a place where kids don't have to be sent into harsh battle fronts!'
This is Hashirama's dream for Konoha. He only didn't want kids to fight harsh battle. But Assign missions to them according to their strength with the guidance of a superior. Nowhere Hashirama mentioned he would protect the kids forever until they reach 25 or something.
Yes, during 3rd shinobi world war, children were made to fight in the war. I completely agree with this and I don’t even deny it.
But when Kyuubi incident happened, we saw Kakashi and his age mates were clearly asked to stay away from the picture. Because they don’t want to lose their kids for the internal affairs.
Tumblr media
When Orochimaru attacked Konoha in Part 1, we saw Iruka sensei was evacuating Konohamaru under the Hokage rocks.
Tumblr media
Inside Konoha, all the Jounins were defending against the Sand village and none of the child were seen fighting.
You may say ‘Naruto fought Gaara, What about that?’
Well, Nobody expected this war to be exploded during Chuunin Exams and Naruto went to stop Sasuke from fighting. But he couldn’t stop him and hence he finished whatever Sasuke started. Naruto wasn’t sent as a Child Soldier here.
So, that means Child soldier thing was non-existent by Part 1 itself.
By the time 4th shinobi world war started, we saw none of the kids partook in the war.
Example, Konohamaru and his team. We know he was 12 when shippuden got over. Did he participate in the war?
No.
So, Child soldier thing was already resolved narratively.
I don't know why people are still harping about that particular theme which was not even the primary focus of the series. Anyway Kishimoto resolved that issue and now Chuunin exams were conducted like a friendly match between villages in Borutoverse. So, there is no point in discussing about it, isn't it?
What Kishimoto trying to say was,
In Warring States Era, Every clan fought with each other and that lead to countless death of many little children who were just 7 or 8. Hashirama and Madara united their clans despite all their difference and wants to put this endless war to an end which will save many children’s lives. On seeing these two powerful clans joining hands, many other powerful clans eventually joined with Konoha like Hyuuga, Yamanaka, Sarutobi etc.
From this, instead of fighting against countless clans on a daily basis, the frequency of battle was drastically reduced. Now there are only 5 villages who are not united yet and their relationship were pretty fragile. They have countless difference and opinions which leads to war most of the times. There is a constant fear that ‘If we don’t deal with this Byakugan incident, Cloud village will wage war against Konoha and that will lead to another War’. ‘If we don’t deal with Uchiha’s Coup detat, civil war will arise and that will lead another World war’. So fear of War was always there and that leads to the loss of many talented and good hearted shinobis like Hyuuga Hizashi and Uchiha Itachi.
Due to this fragile position, somewhere along the way Little children were forced to fight the war, like Obito, Kakashi, Itachi, Rin.
How do we resolve this issue?
By uniting all the 5 villages. Meaning, if all the 5 villages comes to an understanding, then there is no need to fear for another War. There will be no need to send Children to the battlefront. There will be no need to use people like Itachi and Hizashi like a tool for the sake of the village. In a way, Naruto was also a weapon for Konoha. All these can be prevented if the 5 villages unites as one.
That is what Hashirama envisioned
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn’t this what really happened in the end????
Naruto also told this to Sasuke that all the 5 villages are united. To which Sasuke said, ‘For now, they are united. Tomorrow they will fight again. And I don’t want that to happen. So, I will turn myself into the only object of Hatred and make people stay united forever’....
Basically, Sasuke also inherited Hashirama’s Will. But in a dark way.
Anyways, if this is not the ending people expected, I don’t know what kind of ending they want?
If people think that Kishimoto is not equipped to handle a war story because they expect a storyline similar to Game of Thrones or some Seinen Manga or Homer’s Illaid, Am sorry.... That’s not going to happen. This is a shounen manga but somehow it almost bordered on Seinen level in many plotlines. If they expect complicated storylines, then that’s not going to happen either.
And Kishimoto is not an Idiot as many portrays him to be when it comes to portrayal of war.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My country has never participated in a world war and hence I don’t know anything about it. But Kishi’s immediate family went through the terrors of war. From their stories, he wanted to convey a simple thing, “I believe that ‘War is never the right answer’, but I also understand that there will always be war. There are certain things that only my generation can tall a story and I can tell it from my own perspective. Even though it’s a fiction, I want to make people feel like there is still hope”
I think for a 12 year old kid, this basic message is more than enough. Rather than saying Kishimoto is not equipped to handle such themes, it’s better to say that the audience he was targetting were not matured enough to handle such dark themes. Hell, they couldn’t even understand the love between Naruto and Sasuke.... All of them are screaming ‘Brothers’. ‘Brothers’ because of Homophobia.... How could they understand even more darker themes???
So if people expect a realistic hard hitting war story, Naruto is not the right Place. Naruto series is all about people struggling with real human emotions like Love, Bonds, Pain, Hatred, Hope in a Ninja World where these very emotions might play against them and how everyone deals with it? Can a human be a complete emotionless tool? And if you want to know the answer, then Naruto is the right place.
But do you know what was the real theme Kishimoto wanted to hammer onto our faces like a nail and that too, in Chapter 1?
Tumblr media
This scene!!!!!!
This is what he wanted to convey everyone. That is
Understanding each other. Understanding other’s pain. Isn’t that what Naruto did to every villain at the end? The entire Shippuden is to make Naruto understand Sasuke’s pain and bring him out of Hatred. Just like what Iruka did to Naruto.
Tumblr media
The man himself said it. He intended to tell something and he did it perfectly. He created pain arc to make Naruto understand Sasuke, like Sasuke lost everything in his life once. What would Naruto do if he lost everything? So, he let Pain destroy Konoha and kill Kakashi, Jiraiya.
Yes, Kakashi came back alive. But still Naruto felt the pain of losing everyone even if it’s for some hours and must have understood how Sasuke must have felt the whole time!!!
That’s why Naruto was so sure when he met Sasuke under the bridge.
People expect something different from this story according to their own imagination but they fail to remember that this is Kishimoto’s Story. He wanted to say, “Understanding each other may leads to pointless conflicts”.... This is the core theme of this series. Even at the end of Part 1, Sasuke poses this very question to Naruto, ‘Someone like you, who never had parents or siblings, WHAT CAN YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT ME?’
And what did we see in Part 2? Naruto desperately tried to understand Sasuke.
Tumblr media
And he finally understood him!!!
In the same way, finally every 5 villages united together and they are at good understanding with each other in Borutoverse.
Now, what would Anti-Kishimoto stans would say? Well, Why Orochimaru is still alive? Why didn’t he give an ending for him? Why is he still alive?. Kishimoto can’t write manga. He is an asshole. Is he supporting a genocide of 60 innocent babies by making him live?
[[FYI, Am not supporting Orochimaru here. But killing Orochimaru is not the series’ objective either. And I think Kishi let him alive because, every major villain was dead say, Madara, Obito, Nagato. And he wants to keep at least one villain alive to repent for all the sins by living rather than facing a quick death. That’s why Mitsuki lives in Konoha and wants to protect Konoha and Boruto with his life on the line.]]
So, you see.... The author wanted to tell something, but people pull an unimportant thread out of somewhere and expect to spin a yawn out of it which isn’t gonna happen narratively.
This is also the reason for differing interpretation of Naruto’s Ending. I’ll cover other topics related to this ending in some other post.
BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN REALITY AND FICTION
This is what many people do, they don’t even understand this is a fiction and project all their morality in the fictional world.
I remember someone called SNS, a toxic ship because Sasuke tried to kill Naruto many times.
I was like, ‘What?’
Let’s consider you are Naruto, Anon.
And I am Sasuke.
If I really try to kill you in this real world, it’s okay to call me as a murderer or whatever.
But N and S are in Ninja World set up in feudal Japan. They live to fight. They fight for a purpose. They have chakras. What’s wrong with Sasuke trying to kill Naruto and for a very valid reason? Like Sasuke never tried to kill Naruto like a mosquito. He always faced him upfront and stated his reasons.
But people project their real worldviews into the fictional world and try to change the predominant plot device, that is using Chakras, Ninjutsu and Battle.
Well, we can relate our emotions with the character but cannot change the plot device and the world they are living in, can we?
When people blurs the reality and fiction, differing opinions arises.
CULTURAL DIFFERENCE
This is the most important point which leads to wildly differing opinions in Naruto Fandom.
I want to talk about two separate incidents:
1. Naruto Vs Sasuke
Tumblr media
Goshh!!!!! This is such a misunderstood panel in this fandom!!!!!!
Sasuke stans who hates Naruto claims that ‘Naruto is being forceful... Who is Naruto to break Sasuke’s legs?’....
I was like, ‘This is such a bad and foolish claim’...
“Even if I have to break the bones in your Arms and Legs. I will stop you”.....
This are the normal words which I use with my friends, sister and cousins very frequently. Especially with friends, these are common.... We will often say, “I’m gonna pluck out your eyes and feed it to the crows”....
I’ve seen these kind of similar lines in many Ancient C-Dramas.
Tumblr media
The above picture is from the drama ‘The Untamed’.... You can see the context is very similar to what Naruto was saying. “I will find him and break his leg”
You won’t be using this line with everyone though. Only on whom you have a certain say on their well-being. Meaning, we will use this line only towards our close friends or siblings.
So, we have seen this line used in Naruto, a Japanese anime..... a Chinese TV series and I, myself used this line many times with my sister and friends...
How is this seen as some abusive line in this fandom?
I clearly have no idea.
The only reason I can say is cultural difference.
2. Hashirama vs Butsuma
Tumblr media
This Scene!!!!
Gosh!! So many people claims this scene as Senju Butsuma, being an abusive father.
No.... No.... Nooo...... He was not an abusive father at all.
A parent slapping his own child is just very very very very frequent, especially in their formative years here, in Asia. This is just a way to discipline them. Nowadays, parents became somewhat soft. But this is just a normal thing here.
When I was 10, I got plenty of slaps from my mother like this because I was truly a tantrum throwing unruly kid. And here, A Parent grounding a Kid is somewhat a foreign concept and will never work on kids like me. When I see people writing 250 word essay on how Senju Butsuma is an abusive Parent makes me cackle madly!!!
And what does Kishimoto says about this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s a very Japanese Manga”
“I’m Japanese and I only know Japanese, so any other language would look like Geek to me”
So, Kishi basically saying that he drew this manga with Japanese readers in his mind.
Am not saying, anyone other than Japanese should criticize or form an opinion. That would make me an hypocrite. What I am trying to say is, try to understand some cultural nuances of Japanese culture and form an opinion after that, rather than blatantly opposing something without knowing anything.
I think Cultural Difference strongly plays a major role when people having differing opinions and interpretations.
APOLOGIST ATTITUDE
This is just common in every fandom and Naruto’s fandom is no different. When they love a character so much, they will defend anything that character does and if you don’t agree with them then you will be branded as ‘No True Fan’.
I had my fair share of ugly experience from Sasuke Fandom.
For them, Sasuke hunting Killer Bee is just fine. They will write 1500 words essay to defend why Sasuke was right using fancy words.
I simply cannot do it.
I love characters who makes mistakes and learn from it.
That’s why when majority of Naruto fandom can hate Obito and I simply cannot. Because, he was once an innocent boy who got pulled into Dark Side by Madara and at the end he realized his mistakes and was willing to resurrect everyone just like Nagato. But I can write 1500 words worth of his mistakes and criticize him endlessly too.
But people either want to look at a character as Pure White or Pure Black... There’s no in between for them, which is against what Kishimoto was trying to convey as a message... There’s always some in between.
And there are people who apologize for Sakura as this realistic character and I am like, ‘So What?’... ‘I hate such characters in real life and in fiction too, so just Suck it up’.
This Apologist Attitude is the most annoying thing which leads to people inspire different versions of a same Character and that leads to different opinions about the story. Example, Sasuke in Extremist Fandom will have a different portrayal than Sasuke in SS Fandom.
In Extremist Sasuke fandom, The entire shippuden story is based on Sasuke. But Kishi made Sasuke into a villain and finally he made him into a Konoha Lapdog because of Naruto. Without Sasuke’s power, Naruto will only sucks ass. Sasuke should’ve been made to rule Konoha and show his capability. Since Kishi hates Sasuke, he gave the hokage position to Naruto.
In SS Fandom, Sasuke always loved Sakura. Sakura is Sasuke’s ultimate weakness. Without her he will be all alone. Sasuke’s forehead poke means, ‘I Love you’ in his own language. LOL.
However in SNS fandom, I find his interpretation to be similar to how Kishimoto envisioned. But even in SNS fandom, there are some who favours Sasuke and hence there will be some bias.... There are some who favours Naruto and there will be some bias too. People who favours both of them equally will have the right interpretation most of the times.
If we want to speak from Non-Shipping POV, How do we find out the real interpretation of Sasuke who was written by Kishimoto?
By considering all the above points into consideration, that is,
From whose POV you are watching this series?
For Sasuke, View it from his POV and also from the POV of people closer to him (in his case Naruto and Itachi) and from people who got suffered from his actions. (Nope!!!! I fucking don’t mean Sakura here. I mean, people like Raikage, Killer Bee, Karin). And judge him Objectively. Do not watch from Sasuke’s POV alone.
Don’t Blur the lines between Fiction and Reality.
Consider Sasuke as a person living in a Fictional Ninja world set in Feudal Japan, where Chakras, Jutsus, War, Massacre, Battles exist.
Tumblr media
As Kishimoto said here, Coup d’etats are common in this world, which means War and Massacre is also common. Meaning, the characters are mentally stronger than you, Anon and me by million times.
Don’t imagine Sasuke in our real Democratic World where majority of people are treated like soft cherry blossoms with no fear of wars and battles.
Cultural Perspective
This is very important. Try to understand a little bit about their culture and judge him based on that rather than ignoring this important aspect. Sasuke openly admitting, ‘You became my close friend, one and only friend, I considered you bond made me weak’ carries a lot of importance when you consider the cultural perspective. Because openly admitting their feelings is not something that Asian men can do very often. And Sasuke did it many times to Naruto. Which means, Sasuke is not some emotionless robot. But extremely emotionally vulnerable towards the people he love from the bottom of his heart.
Apologist Attitude
Please don’t be an apologist and own up to the mistakes of the character. Real Sasuke would prefer that. Because he accepted where he went wrong and he wanted to do something about it. As a fan, that’s what I like about him and adore him. Saying something like, he did nothing wrong and he didn’t deserve this ending. He became a Konoha wanker..... Ummm... How should I say? It maybe a view. But I am not into it as does Kishimoto. If they didn’t like the ending, that’s fine. But Slandering me who accepted a version of Sasuke written by Kishimoto is absolutely wrong. For which they have no right to bitch about me like a coward.
I always analyze every characters objectively based on the above criteria and try to see positives as well as negatives in them.
I am not saying my interpretation of Sasuke or every other character was the only right thing. But certainly, I agree with how kishimoto has written every characters until chapter 699 and I have no major qualms about it. Except for Kaguya Plot, some minor stuffs and that Chapter 700 asspull which came out of nowhere.

Stuck in his ways, chapter 1
Sinopsis:  After deciding to settle down after a whole life of mercenary work, Y/N moves to Konoha and becomes a nin thanks to an old favor the Nara clan owed her. She is assigned to a jonin mentor, but he is not too happy about his new task since he is a man stuck in his ways and a bit closed off. Will they be able to work their differences out?
Chapter summary: First impressions are important, especially when they are bad.
Words: 1.3k
Chapter: 1/?
AO3
“You’re at least an hour late, Obito”
Another restless night, two old ladies needing help with their groceries, Kakashi bothering him again to go on one of those blind dates, yeah, of course Obito was late again. The Uchiha flinches as he hears this as he goes through Minato’s office door. He does not try to come with any excuses, his former sensei knows him too well to fall for any of it, and so he just apologizes.
“You know, I sometimes tend to go too soft on you but this is third time this week you’re late. That’s a lot even for you.”
“I’m sorry sir I promise this won’t happen again”
“It won’t because I’m suspending you from getting S ranked missions until you change this behavior. I can clearly see that something is not wright with you lately”
Great, just great.
“Anyway, I was going to assign this one to a jonin with less experience and prestige as you, but I think I’ll be giving it to you since I’m sure you need to cool down a little, get some rest. You will be training a new chunin I just promoted exceptionally, not in a team due to specific circumstances, just one student. I want you to evaluate their abilities and teach them the ways of the village”
Obito immediately hunches his back forward in a mix of disappointment and frustration. He has been working so hard lately on his missions in an effort to impress, he wants to be the next Hokage, after all. Fine, he has been a little tired and unmotivated lately but hell, he still is better than most ninja, he does not deserve to be babysitting chunin like that.
Minato hands him a folder and gives him some more detail about the student in question, but the Uchiha does not pay any attention on it. He lazily starts making his way to the training field he was told his new pupil would be. Obito figures he will just borrow those bells from Kakashi and put them through it, no way in hell anyone will be able to pass this test with him as the teacher and he will get rid of this situation quickly.
One quick look through the file and Obito immediately recognizes the face on the top of the first page. The outsider joining the village. Great. Her face on paper stares back at him, the unmistakable cold look of someone that just kills for a living with no clear objective but money. As if he was not already uncomfortable in the position of teacher, it had to be someone his prejudices will not allow him to fully trust and on top of that, another person to give him that look, that awful look they have when they first see him.
Leaning into a tree, Obito keeps reading the papers. Ex merc, over a hundred captured S ranked missing nin, taijutsu and blade techniques, uninteresting details about the girl’s life. What on earth Minato had on his mind to allow someone from outside into the village’s ranks? He knows they are still struggling with reduced numbers since the war, but for Kami’s sake, village secrets cannot be told to just anybody like this.
He takes another look at the picture and the word pretty comes up in his mind, only to be immediately shut down by a pile of self-imposed negative thoughts.
“Hm, probably just a weakling traitor” He thinks aloud while still gazing at the folder.
 ~”~
Y/N sits close to the top of a tree observing the training grounds. These few weeks have been… exhausting. She never thought that settling down would be so complicated, but some of that is on her for choosing to be a village ninja and not opting to just open a small bakery or something.
They told her that her new mentor was supposed to meet her here, but she has been waiting here for over an hour and a half and… nothing. As if having to get used to ranks and authorities was not overbearing enough, she will have to deal with someone closely bossing her around.
After a while, she hears footsteps in the direction of the clearing she was in. A tall man appears, from this height she can only make out his black colored hair and jonin vest. This must be her supposed mentor, he has a beige folder and he is reading it intently. He appears to not have noticed her presence, so she decides to get down and approach him silently as to find out if what he has in his hands is about her. What can she do? She is a curious being.
Jumping down silently and getting closer from behind, he has not noticed her yet. She is able to look at the open folder, the jonin is staring at a picture of her. A bad picture if you ask her opinion, almost a mugshot.
“Hm, probably just a weakling traitor” the man says clearly referring to her picture.
“Ok, rude” is what she is able to say in response, while in truth she really wanted to spell out her entire extensive catalog of insults
Caught off guard, the man immediately points a kunai at her neck. A single red glowing eye meet hers, joined by a face half covered of scars that look incredibly painful, a vision that for sure would intimidate anyone. Y/N, on the other hand, has her interest growing bigger by the minute. She has heard of the dojutsu possessed by the Uchiha family in her travels and she knows they are native to Konoha, but she did not expect to meet one of them so quickly and to work with them on the field. The man is also strikingly han- uneducated, yes, uneducated.
Deciding to discuss the awful thing he said about her just now later, Y/N raises her arms as sign of peace:
“Calm down, I’m the one you were staring at in your creep file.”
Confused, the man stares at her and back at the picture a couple of time before finally letting his guard down. Putting the kunai back in his pocket, he finally speaks:
“It’s not a creep file, it’s mission information. I’ve been assigned to be your mentor while you’re new to the village. Obito Uchiha, nice to meet you.”
“It’s not a creep file alright, but it is a little creepy to be staring at people’s faces for too long and saying mean stuff about them. Anyway, I’m Y/N L/N, nice to meet you too sir.”
Mr. Creep Uchiha seems quite lost until he visibly realizes what she is talking about, and then he gets visibly uncomfortable and a little mad, hence the pout forming in his lips.
“Are you sure you should be talking to your superiors like this?”
“Are you supposed to welcome new people like that?”
Awkward silence follows for a bit before Obito starts walking to the middle of the clearing, Y/N takes this as a lead for her to follow him. Stepping into the sun now, the Uchiha finally speaks again:
“I want to see you fight” Is all he says, with a small conceited smirk creeping in.
“Weren’t you supposed to explain things to m-“
“It won’t matter if you are too weak to even go out on a mission later. I’m not big on having my time wasted.”
Y/N is stumped. Normally she would have already jumped at him for treating her like this, how dare he talk to someone like that? To not even acknowledge her. But in this new situation of hers she is obligated to not do anything, the only thing that escapes her mouth is a small whisper of the word asshole.
“Catch these bells. Fail to do so and I’ll make sure you’re kicked out from here forever. We’ll talk about everything else later.”
What?!

Underneath The Silence
Tumblr media
His musings were interrupted by a booming voice.
"Sensei!"
Tobirama raised his head and was confronted with the somewhat alarming sight of an Akimichi rushing towards him. Still the same wild brown hair, the same headscarf and the same drawings on the full cheeks. This could only be Torifu, thirty-five years older and at least three times as big, but unmistakably him.
Before he knew it, Tobirama found himself in a bone-crushing embrace and his feet lost contact with the ground. He gasped, but Torifu ignored all his protests to put him down again.
"I knew it!" exclaimed Torifu. "I knew it, that this old wolf here wouldn't let a few ridiculous foxes from Kumogakure get him down!"
"I must insist that you let go of my patient at once!", Fuyuko ruled him. "I don't feel like patching him up from pieces again."
A little glimpse of my current WIP, I’ve already rambled about it here. As I’ve thought I switched the title to a Nightwish refference. Underneath The Silence is a line from How’s the Heart? and from now on I will tag my posts for that text with this title.
(I’M GOING TO SEE THEM LIVE THIS SATURDAY, AHHH!!!)
Tumblr media
(Whatever Emppu is doing here.)
So, anyway. I’m about 9k into the text (instead of writing my Founders Week stuff) and I have no idea how long it will be. But long. That’s for sure. So far I have the setup made and Tobirama gets accustomed to the new Konoha 35 years later. Pood dude gets pestered by his doctor, Fuyuko, who thinks that he’s an insufferable prick (not wrong), but can’t say it out loud. Tobirama really should listen to her more.
You’ll also get an old acquaintance from my Butterfly Verse, tho this text is not linked to it. But I got attached to Okami. She’s mom shaped and fluffy, I had to put her in here.
Okay, maybe some key facts for this project for those wondering what this is about: Underneath The Silence is a time travel fix-it, where Tobirama messes up a new experimental Hiraishin seal and lands in Konoha, which was indeed his destination, but he did not intend to skip 35 years. This saves him from the Kinkaku force tho, but only barely. This again is Minato’s luck, because that will save him from Kyubi (sorry, Kushina, but I ignore Boruto as well as this Hagoromo bullshit, meaning you still die when Kurama is ripped from you and I need some angst and hurt.) The text is just one big excuse to try writing TobiMina (or MinaTobi, still don’t know) slow burn and with slow I mean slow. Minato’s fliriting method will be passive aggressively attaching himself to Tobirama and refusing to let go. Danzo probably gets yeeted, because I hate that dude (I’m a bit predictable in this matter, but heeey).
I have many ideas so far what I can do with that story. Also the fact that this will have ftm trans Kakashi, who is Tobirama’s grandson. Kakashi is fucked up as hell because of that whole matter with Obito and Rin and Tobirama is as bad with kids as always, but somehow they get together. I know that fanon has it, that Tobirama tends to collect kiddos, but I always imagined that he’s actually terribly awkward around them and it was actually Hashirama’s idea to make him a teacher by shoving baby Saru in his arms.
I also have ideas™ for Shisui and especially Itachi, but won’t tell you more about it. That’s a RAFO! 😎 Oh, aaand.... what if agender Shisui 😇
Here I am, working on the fifth (!!) novel length text for this year and indulging myself in the illusion that I was happy with my token het Minato headcanon. I thought that MinatoKushina was the only canon het pairing I’m vibing with. But apparently no. I have to make even that gay.

The Real Houseninja of Konoha
Tumblr media
After the last great war, a wave of peace took over the great nations, changing the landscape of the ninja world.  Gone were the child soldiers, endless wars, and bloodshed.  In its place peace prevailed allowing creativity and jubilance.  The time of the historic ninja is over.  What were once fighting ninja - have become houseninja.  The battles have taken on a different flair.
Ladies and Gentleman, let me present - The Real Houseninja of Konoha
Producer:  Kakashi, as centre leaf holder, let me congratulate you.  Life has taken quite the turn for you hasn’t it?
Kakashi:  I’ll say!  Believe me I’m not complaining, I’ve got to say I like this new lifestyle.  No more early morning missions, I can get up when I want to.
Producer:  Ha ha!  That’s great!  Well catch me up on yourself and your fellow Houseninja.  What are you keeping busy with now that the world is at peace?
Kakashi (shyly): Well...you might have heard about my new book release?
Producer: You’re being modest.  I don’t think the literary world has been this abuzz in I don’t know how long.  What inspired you to get into writing?
Kakashi:  Well, I’ve made no secret that I’m a huge fan of Jiraiya sensei’s novels.  While my novels are a bit different in tone, he was my inspiration to get into this field.  He always encouraged others to dream the impossible, so that’s what I did in my novels.
Producer:  You’ve been hugely successful!  Any hints on your next novel?  Will it be a sexy number?
Kakashi (blushes):  I can’t say, my publisher would kill me.  One thing I can take from my past life, is that I am good at keeping a secret.
Producer:  Hooboy!  Well, that might come in handy OR NOT as a houseninja, I guess we’ll see how that plays out for you over the season.  Well catch me up on your castmates.  They are a recipe for pure drama.  But, they’ve all been wildly successful in their own rights.
Kakashi:  It’s true!  Well basically Genma started a line of smoking cessation senbons.  They’re wildly popular!  I’m glad he put his oral fixation to good use.  Ten - I mean Yamato is a builder architect.  He’s in such demand, that he’s booked up for years.  Although he’s been working on a project he won’t tell me much about.  Can you believe that - he won’t tell me??  Gai is probably the most financially successful out of all of us.  He created some moisture wicking Lycra and made tons of money.  With that he created a Gym Empire - Gai’s -
Producer:  Springtime of Youth Emporium!  Who doesn’t know about it!  It’s in every nation across the world.  You’re guaranteed to drop weight and build muscle in just one session!  His workouts are renown!
Kakashi:  You’re a fan I see.
Producer:  Of course!  That and his energy drinks.  I feel like a new person.  Are you not a fan?
Kakashi:  Oh Gai’s workouts are great I’m sure.  His grass smoothies I could do without.  Also, I’m just not a fan of sweating if I don’t have to.
Producer (laughs):  Fair enough.  And there is one more...I’m not sure how to bring him up.  But Obito Uchiha?  I thought he....ummm...died?
Kakashi:  Well he did, but The Sage of Six Paths granted Obito life again.  It’s great.  I have my friend back, and he’s really living it up.  He’s determined to make the Uchiha name one to remember and is doing it through philanthropy.  He always did love helping people.  Although, I haven’t seen him around much lately.  He tells me he’s chilling at home, but that’s not quite like him - you know him - Mr. Social.  Well he’s got my book launch tonight so I’m sure he’ll make an appearance.
Producer:  That is strange....If only we knew what he was up to....
Cut Scene - Uchiha Estate  Obito and Yamato are looking of plans outside near a large pool.
Producer:  So is this the project you’ve been keeping secret from Kakashi?
Yamato (blushes):  Well.....I mean if I was scheduling sequentially, Obito’s house would have been like three years down the road, but I couldn’t resist.  It’s not everyday you can work with a client like this.
Obito:  What was that?  Are you telling them about my fabulous house?  You know, I learned a great many things from Madara Uchiha.  And although we disagreed about a lot of things, we did talk about philosophies and stuff.  And we came to agreement on this - More is more.
Producer:  More is more?
Obito:  More trees, more columns, more rooms, more pools, more skylights, more swans!
Producer:  Swans?
Yamato:  It’s a literal dream working for him.  I get to design the craziest stuff!  And he wants it as extravagant as possible. It’s so fun, I get to design a swan pool!  With a swan slide!  For the swans to have fun!  How great is that!
Obito (squinting at the blueprint):  Do you know what this needs?  An adjoining swan pool!  For the baby swans!  With a little slide!
Yamato (claps):  More swans!
Producer: Are you two going to let Kakashi in on this little secret project you’re working on?
Obito:  Of course not!  It would ruin the grand opening!  The party to end all parties!  We are creating a waterfall just for the event.  And fireworks too! And Uchiha design at that.  Sasuke’s been working with me on that.
Yamato:  Yeah, we’re keeping it a secret.  I think it’s better that way...although Kakashi keeps asking me to make some stuff for him, and I’m running out of excuses.
Producer:  Well you are all meeting tonight.  Hopefully, you can keep it under wraps.
Obito:  Well Gai did stop by...
Yamato:  Oh my God....
Producer:  Well it sounds like you have your hands full!  Stay tuned for more this season on the Real Houseninja of Konoha!

Hello, I hope you and your family are doing well. I’m also excited for you to come back. Sorry if you have answered this already but since you said you haven’t been in kakasaku fandom for long, how did you come across kakasaku and what made you became a fan?
Ooh, good question!
I've always been a bit of a multi-Saku shipper - although I say "a bit" because so far I've only been into MadaSaku, ItaSaku, SasuSaku, and now KakaSaku. After running out of fics to read for the first 3 ships, I decided to go check out the KakaSaku stuff. I was never against the ship anyway so the transition was pretty easy.
That, and I have also always been interested in the potential dynamic Sakura could share with Kakashi. Somewhere in Part 1 of Naruto, there's an episode (I think when Sasuke is recovering from his hospitalization or around that time) in which Kakashi ties Sasuke up to a tree. Kakashi then explains that he understands how Sasuke feels because he, too, has lost all his loved ones. But then with Team 7, he'd found a new family, and he wanted Sasuke to see that. I don't remember the exact dialogue but that was the main point of the scene. It got me thinking how similar Kakashi is to Sasuke in that aspect and I have always thought that in Team Minato, Kakashi was kind of the Sasuke of the trio (with Rin like Sakura and Obito as Naruto). So I thought that if Sakura could fall for someone ""broken"" like Sasuke, then she can fall for someone like Kakashi too. Not to mention she thinks Kakashi is handsome, so if they'd been the same age then I'm sure she definitely would've crushed on him and tried to take care of him the same way she did with Sasuke.
I wanted to see that potential dynamic between Sakura and Kakashi explored, so I actively sought out KakaSaku fics starting with Moor's works since she's how I became a multi-Saku shipper because of her plethora of multi-Saku fics. Then, I found some gold nuggets like the famous House of Crows fic that explored Sakura and Kakashi's potential relationship exactly as I wanted. That fic as well as many other fics really did well with that, and I also enjoyed the character studies (I'm a HUGE sucker for character study in fics which is why my own multi-chapter fics tend to run long). Those fics and the way they developed KakaSaku really made me fall in love with the ship as they made me understand and believe that KakaSaku could actually work pretty well in canon.
So that's my story of how I fell in love with KakaSaku, so much so that I intend to write plenty of KakaSaku longfics in the long run after Anatomy of Love.
Phew! This was a fun question to answer lol.

A Date with an Angel // Part Four // Zetsu and Kisame
Zetsu
“Oh — God —“, Konan gasps, panting and holding her sides. She had thought she was in better shape than this, but ... “Do you want to stop and rest for a bit?” Konan nods, feeling mildly embarrassed as she sits gingerly on a log. When Konan had been a young girl, going for walks through the woods had been one of her favorite activities. Quiet, fresh air, surrounded by birds and butterflies and flowers ... so when Zetsu asked her if she wanted to go on a “relaxing hike”, she’d agreed right away. But apparently she and Zetsu differed greatly on their ideas of what “relaxing” meant, because this was intense. The park Zetsu took her to had a variety of winding trails, and the one they were traveling up now was probably the steepest of them all, going up many deep hills and crevices. Konan was glad she’d brought more than one bottle of water in her small backpack; here she was opening her third one. “How are you not even winded?”, she asked him, as she slugged down the icy coolness. Zetsu merely smiles and takes a drink of his own water. “I do this all the time. For the stuff Nagato has us all doing, there’s really no better way to stay in shape.” Konan has to agree with that, but even without the walking, Zetsu is probably the healthiest person in the house ... and also, possibly, the strangest. He came and went at all hours of the day and night, and the others referred to him as “the spy”. He always had intel on people that Nagato was interested in, and he was a master problem solver, often resolving issues before they even had a chance to become one. He seemed to be the closest to Obito, and the two would spend hours playing chess against each other. Konan rests on her log and stares out at the scenery below, when Zetsu’s voice comes to her from the stillness: “He was a good man.” “Who?” “Yahiko.” Konan turns her head towards him, surprised. “Did you know him??” Zetsu nods. “Yeah. Met him a few times back when Nagato was putting this group together. Nagato — he was always trying to convince your boyfriend to join up. But Yahiko, you know all this just wasn’t his thing. Very peaceful guy. Talked about you so damn much I felt Iike I already knew you on the day I met you.” Konan smiled at that, then stood up. “You know he loved this too. Going for long hikes, I mean. Always tried to get me to go with. Wonder if he’d be proud of me right now — or pissed.” Zetsu laughs at that and puts his hand on Konan’s shoulder, saying, reassuringly, “Proud. Always proud.” The two continue their hike (Konan finds it a bit easier now that she’s rested and more hydrated) and they come across a small pond surrounded by flowers. “Oh!” Konan exclaims, and quickly draws her sketch book out of her pack. “I have to draw those flowers!” Zetsu looked at her, surprised. “I thought you only did Origami? I didn’t know you could draw, too.” “It’s both, kind of. I sketch out flowers that I like so I can try to fold them at home later.” When she’s done, the sun has gotten a bit lower in the sky than either had anticipated, so that hurry back to the entrance of the trails. They get there just as the sun sinks beneath the horizon, and Zetsu, taking hold of Konan’s arm, tells her to look up. She does and gasps; out in the open, and completely free from the lights of the city, the sky is flooded with what seems like millions of gold-silver sparkles. “I never knew there were so many,” Konan says in an awed voice, her eyes eating up her face. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so beautiful in my entire life.” Zetsu just smiles, and takes the opportunity to gently kiss her forehead as he tells her, “The sky is pretty ... but you put it to shame, Konan.” They make light conversation on the car ride home, but Konan’s sleepiness from so much physical exertion catches up to her, and she’s knocked out before they pull in the driveway. Zetsu lifts her out and carries her into the house and to her room, where he gently lays her on top of her covers, before turning off her light and closing the door.
Kisame
“You don’t have to do this.” “I know that; but I don’t mind.” “You don’t think it’s embarrassing?” Kisame shook his head. “How is spending time in the water with a beautiful woman in anyway embarrassing?” Konan sighed and focused on kicking again. It was the next day, and early that morning Kisame had knocked on her door, asking her to accompany him to “his favorite place in the world.” It shouldn’t have been surprising where they ended up; Kisame was one of the most outgoing, talkative members of the house, and one of the first things he and Konan had a conversation about were the many shiny trophies that lined his room shelves. “Swim Team,” he’d said, proudly, when she asked. I joined freshman year in high school, and was captain by junior year. We went to all the tournaments; came in first 4 times in two years.” Today was rather lovely; after watching the stars with Zetsu the night before, seeing the sun come up over the waters at the beach with Kisame was very poetic. Kisame was prepared; he’d brought them towels, sunscreen, magazines, and abundant supply of drinks and snacks. While it was early, it was too chilly to even think about going in the water, but the day very quickly warmed up to the point where Kisame was stripping off his shirt and diving into the water. Konan was genuinely surprised that a man as big as Kisame, as solid and muscular, could be so smooth and graceful in the water. “You don’t want to join me?”, he’d asked, after coming up for the umpteenth time. “The water isn’t really that cold. It’s quite refreshing.” But Konan shook her head and explained, sheepishly, that she’d never learned how to swim. Kisame’s immediate response had been “Let me teach you,” and, although Konan had her misgivings, she allowed Kisame to take her hand and guide her into the water. They started off with very basic exercises, such as Kisame holding her up while she kicked and paddled, and then he explained about balance and breathing and body weight, and “If you feel yourself going under, don’t panic. Work to pull yourself back up. Fight. And you don’t have to worry, because I’ll be right here to help you.” Eventually Konan feels confident enough to swim out a ways from Kisame, and although her head is briefly pulled under the waves she takes his advice, stays calm, and fights her way out from under. Kisame pats her shoulder when she gets back to him, congratulating her. “See? Easy as pie, right?” “It’s easy when you have a great teacher.” The two take a break from the water to eat and bask in the sun. “This must be what heaven feels like,” Konan comments, turning towards where Kisame is laying on his towel beside her. Can I ask you something?” “Yeah?” “You’re so ... big, you know? I would have thought a big guy like you would be a football player, or hockey, or something like that. Why swimming?” “I guess ... because my dad was a swimmer, too,” he answers, sitting up. “It was something, maybe the ONLY something, we bonded over, right? If you think I have a lot of trophies you should see his; he’s got a whole wall of awards from junior high, high school, and college.” Konan nods, going quiet for a bit before saying, “I don’t remember my dad that well. He died when I was four. Mom ... I guess that’s why I like origami such much, because she was a sketch artist. Her specialty was flowers. My drawings are okay but folding is better. Makes sense. Is that how you feel about swimming? It just makes sense to you?” He nods, and the two spend the next half hour in a companionable quiet. Before they leave for the day, they have a lot more fun. They join on opposing sides of a children’s volleyball game, then the kids join Konan in burying Kisame up to his neck in sand. They swim a bit more, Kisame helps Konan collect seashells — before long they’re both tired, and head back home. When they get to the front door, Konan hugs Kisame (and Kisame has to bend quite a ways for her to reach him, and kisses his cheek. “I had a great day with you, Kisame.” He blushes, then asks timidly, if she’s not VERY tired, if she wants to watch a
movie with him in the living room. She agrees, and Kisame makes them popcorn and pops in The Waterboy, which he claims is his favorite movie “of all time, ever.” Halfway through the flick Itachi emerges from his room and joins them, and the three have a pleasant evening with each other.

what are some of your fav kakashi centric fics?? ive never been too into naruto but kakashi??? i love him
You’re in luck because the only Naruto fics I read are Kakashi-centric, lmao. Here are some of my favorites (strap in because this is gonna be long – and I hope you like time travel, because there’s a lot of that here.) Fics are listed in no particular order.
Just the Usual Habits by Applepie (G / gen / 3.9k words / completed / no warnings)
Sakumo has no idea where all of these habits of Kakashi's are coming from. In which five-year-old Kakashi forgets the existence of his left eye, loses his ability to lie believably, and is a little too knowledgeable about the Birds and Bees. Still, no matter what oddities went on in Kakashi's head, one thing is certain – the boy will always love his father, through thick and thin.
Nukenin by WhisperingDarkness (T / gen / 17k words / completed / no warnings)
In the sealed scroll he finds a Bingo Book – his own page marking him as an S-class nukenin with flee-on-sight orders.
“Ok. That is definitely different.”
In his head he blames Naruto – even if his number one unpredictable student had been nowhere near him on this mission. When things go this stupidly impossibly wrong it must somehow be the future Hokage’s fault.
Once More with Feeling by Chicken_Train_And_Laser_Beam (M / gen / 137k words / wip / violence)
After an unexpected turn on a mission with Team Seven, Kakashi Hatake wakes up in the past, trapped in the body of his thirteen-year-old self. Despite being torn away from his own, familiar world, Kakashi resolves to change the future to better the lives of those he loves. Yet, fate is not so easily mastered, and he's not the only one playing the game.
Reversal of Roles by Ranowa Hikura (T / gen / 112,510 words / completed / violence)
Obito didn't push Kakashi out of the way during the Battle at Kannabi Bridge. This one change eventually leads to Godaime Naruto being sent back in time with the leader of the Akatsuki- Kakashi. They arrive at the day of Naruto's Academy graduation, and Naruto must work with the man he hates the most to stop war from happening. Time travel, AU, Kakanaru friendship.
Branches by Mockingone (T / gen / 55k words / completed / no warnings)
Kakashi falls off a tree and lands in a different world. Literally. Now he's in a dimension where nothing makes sense—but he's used to that. Kakashi plans to wreak as much havoc as he can and find his way home... if he can.
What You Knead by AgentMalkere (G / gen / 38k words / wip / no warnings)
It started, as most things did in Kakashi’s life, with a mission gone wrong.
(In which Kakashi accidentally acquires an emotionally healthy coping technique.)
Ear to the Wall by Vodkassassin (NR / gen / 84k words / wip / chose not to warn)
The Minato-sensei beams at him, and replies, “Kakashi! I’m glad you’re awake,” and, yup, that’s Minato-sensei’s voice.
Kakashi falls back down against the bed, closing his eyes. It’s too short of a way down, and he clenches hands that are too tiny and feeble and not his in dog-print sheets he hasn’t owned for decades.
Wolves of Fire Country by Midnite_Republic (T / Kakashi/Izuna / 51k words / wip / chose not to warn)
Wave changed a lot about Team 7, but not enough to make them entirely functional. Also someone should have really reminded Kakashi to pay attention to that tiny part of his genius brain that recognises random patterns, before he called a rest stop on the way home on top of an old, decayed Uzushio travel seal with an over-chakra-charged Uzumaki.
And he thought the month of the Wave mission was long, now he's stuck with the team, in a place he never expected to have anything to do with, with no way back.
Maybe he should have paid more attention to history, or stayed in the academy long enough to have history classes.
Why we build the wall by Dissenter (NR / gen / 49k words / wip / mcd & violence)
A Kiri nin gets trapped in a cave with a Konoha nin near Kannabi bridge. Some things are inevitable.
Or the AU where Kakashi is born in Kiri but still somehow ends up as team seven's teacher.
Outrunning Karma by Anjelle (T / gen / 52k words / wip / no warnings)
Kakashi was forty-two and the world ended in a sea of smoke and ash. Kakashi was forty-two and there stood a man in the carnage, untouched and unfazed as the village burned around him.
Kakashi is nineteen and the world ends tomorrow, and he will do everything he can to make it right. Even if it means making friends of his enemies. Even if it means erasing everything.
Even if it means staring into the face of all that he hates and smiling.
Kakashi is nineteen and Naruto is five and there is still time. Instead of counting his losses, he'll make the most of it.
komorebi by tomorrowsrain (T / Kakashi/Obito / 80k words / wip / no warnings)
In which Kakashi and Obito survive the Kyuubi attack, get exiled from Konoha, learn how to survive, and still manage to become legends along the way.
(The bratty genin are unexpected, though.)
The Hidden Prodigy by Applepie (T / gen / 106k words / wip / chose not to warn)
Somehow sent back into the past, Kakashi is given a second chance to relive his childhood. He is determined to make the most of everyday and to fix the horrors of the future, but sometimes simple determination is not enough to save everyone.

Oh,” she says, white hands clenched into tight fists. “I’m-- I was your student. Haruno Sakura.”
Kakashi tilts his head, gray eye analyzing her carefully for tells. He finds nothing. “I’ve never seen you before in my life,” he says flatly.
(Kakashi wakes up fourteen years old.)
Lost on the road of life by RavenShira (M / gen / 80k words / wip / violence)
Kakashi had everything well in hand. He had stepped down from his reign as Rokudaime Hokage, his porn collection was as well worn as should be and his free time was spend with either Gai's challenges or helping out on various tasks while trying to make it seem like he wasn't there to help out. Annoying the hell out of everyone that crosses his path was as easy as breathing – easier now that he didn't have to be polite and diplomatic about it anymore.
So what if he agreed to a teeny-tiny favour of his once student and now successor? Not even Naruto could mess up just scribbling down a fuinjutsu for Kakashi to check over before he got back to his own, very busy life.
… Right?
Or: The one where Kakashi travels back in time, thinks he can fix stuff but clearly gets in over his head.
What’s the Worst That Can Happen? by Applepie (T / gen / 90k words / wip / no warnings)
Life was going quite well, if you asked Naruto Uzumaki. So why did he have to listen to Kakashi of all people? Now, they've time traveled to the past, smack dab in Minato's era, when the soon-to-be Hokage was sporting a team seven of his own. Let history run its course? Never! Kakashi-centric.
Wanted by Anjelle (T / gen / 17k words / wip / no warnings)
Kakashi is your run-of-the-mill hand for hire, except that he's not. Boasting a spotless record with the skills and name to back it up, he's one of the most highly sought after mercenaries in the Land of Fire. He has just one rule:
No Leaf missions.
Unfortunately, his latest client, Tobi, is looking for just that. And there's no doubt in Tobi's mind that Kakashi will accept.
It's only a matter of time.
