You said that Ninja-Style Dancer became a ninja after his mother(?) the ambassadress was killed. I know that was a joke, but could you tell us anything about his origin?
No, the bit was about ninja stuff in the cat style - not an origin story, sorry. I don't really have an origin story for him.

Ambassador Armin Arlert & Ambassadress Kelsey Arlert
Kelsey is a modern spelling of the Old English given name ‘Ceolsige’, which means ‘ship's victory’. Armin is the modern form of the ancient Germanic name ‘Arminius,’ and may have derived from the elemental noun ‘ermen’ which means ‘whole’ or ‘universal.’ ( x ) ( x )
canon-verse: friends to lovers/mutual pining; armin was my secret admirer as a cadet but stopped when we became scouts on levi's squad. got romantically closer after eren left. became a couple & married after the rumbling. 4 chlildren (3 girls, 1 boy.)
modern au: high school sweethearts; armin has a job as an information security analyst, and i work as a teacher. we live in a simple apartment. no kids, only cats.
zodiac
virgo and scorpio, earth and water signs, can oppose and complement each other simultaneously. the compatibility might not seem to be strong at first glance but they both value loyalty and mutual respect which is the key element in a virgo/scorpio relationship. virgo is a conscientious individual who values order and perfection. scorpio has a passion which blossoms in a virgo/scorpio love match. both are also intellectually sound which is why they will enjoy their conversations. it is also possible that they might end up in a loop where they point out each other’s faults.
these two make one hell of a steamy couple when it comes to sexual compatibility. scorpio, despite being extremely assertive, is a highly emotional sign. this is crucial because virgos crave emotional connection to an extreme level. the connection is what make sexual activities between the two incredibly steamy. the caveat in their sex life is their incompatibility in terms of personality. virgos tend to be shy and like to take their time, whereas scorpio is the embodiment of a dominating partner in bed. scorpio’s roughness can become overbearing for virgo if they are not careful. ambassadress jay min rings i am begging u for one last sneak peek for fail-safe before u post it this weekend PLEASE PLEASE I AM GOING INSANE.
one last breadcrumb bc u asked so nicely and i don't want u going insane <3
“So?” Yoongi chuckles, his breeze towards your state shocking you. “What’s it to them if you haven’t had your first kiss?”
“You don’t get it,” you grit through your teeth, crossing your arms so hard that it feels hard to inhale.
“I’m pretty sure I do,” he sing-songs, drinking the last of his beer. When you’re not looking though, he plans to either drink or chuck the remainder of your share because he doesn’t want you to develop a taste for it.
The anger you have for Yoongi bubbles up once again, the itch in your throat unbearable. You’re presented with the age gap between you once more, along with the raging emptiness in you that Yoongi’s reached so far and you’ve reached so little.
“You don’t get it because you’ve had all of these experiences when you were younger than my age right now,” you snap, although you don’t look at him when you do. If you do look at him though, you’ll only be reminded of how a face like his could have everything in this world — even a first kiss you’ve never had.
“Yeah, and so?” he knits his brows, growing defensive. You weren’t lying at all, but he still feels a little offended at the dig. He’s not not proud of it, but with the way you say it, it’s like you want him to burn in shame,
“Stop saying so,” you angrily mumble in frustration, a little breathless because you still don’t ease up on crossing your arms.
Yoongi straightens his posture, staring you down with his jaw set. He’s stern as he is, nostrils flaring in irritation. “No, Y/N. I’m genuinely asking — so what? What’s it to you if I had my first kiss at a younger age? What about it if everyone else in your grade has kissed someone and you haven’t? It’s not the end of the world.”
“I-I don’t know! It’s just unfair!” you let up, yielding to both the facts that Yoongi’s right with it not being the end of the world, and that you’re still entitled to feeling upset.
“Instead of spending time obsessing over your first kiss, maybe I don’t know, try being productive? You’re heading to college soon and you haven’t even thought of a career,” Yoongi goes off on you, making you roll your eyes automatically. There he goes again with the great big push of trying to push you into your supposed passions in life. “Someone else’s luck doesn’t mean it’s already your misfortune.”
“But it is.”

you got your known Minoans and your unknown Minoans (part one)
(reposted, with edits, from Twitter)
Tumblr media
Image: The famous “Ladies in Blue” Minoan fresco.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Minoans. Everyone loves the Minoans, right?
(If you love the Minoans, you are not going to love this series of posts.)
Part One: The Case of the Very Victorian Goddess
Let’s start with a description of the pop culture perception of the Minoans: a peaceful ancient Greek culture with sophisticated, surprisingly modernist art, and extremely sophisticated technology like running water, who were lovers of beauty and peace.
So, I read Mysteries of the Snake Goddess: Art, Desire, and the Forging of History by Kenneth Lapatin. The author focuses on the (now, I believe, pretty thoroughly debunked) Boston Goddess, a supposedly Minoan ivory figurine of a snake-handling woman. She was an absolute SENSATION when she was first displayed.
Tumblr media
Image: The Boston Goddess
Sir Arthur Evans, the most famous archaeologist of the Minoan civilization, dubbed her the "Minoan ambassadress to the New World." She made a 1967 issue of Mademoiselle's list of "art sensations" alongside Rembrandt, Picasso, and Rodin. The Museum's monthly bulletin for Dec 1914 proclaimed her an icon of a "wonderful prehistoric civilization which, after having lain submerged, like the lost Atlantis, for three thousand years, has been brought to light again..."
A comparison to Atlantis here is telling.
Victorian "race science" and Victorian occultism were inextricably linked, the latter demonstrating a passion for interpreting the myths of non-European cultures to reflect the ideas of the former. (Its descendants live on as Ancient Aliens theories, etc.) As archaeology became more popular and contact with ancient, sophisticated, and enduring civilizations such as those in India and China increased, white Europeans (especially the Brits) and Americans started to get uncomfortable.
So they started coming up with theories that hey, those people in the East who built all that amazing stuff, who were the "cradle of civilization," who invented the alphabet? They must have been taught by an even OLDER white civilization, now lost.
Tumblr media
Image: The Palace of Atlantis by Lloyd K. Townsend, late 19th century, everyone is very Nordic-looking.
Hence the passion for stories about Atlantis and other lost continents. It just couldn't be true that those non-Europeans were building bigger, more sophisticated civilizations long before most (northern) European civilizations built recognizable cities at all.
That longing for proof of ancient European cultural superiority was in the air when excavations of Minoan sites began.
We must have The Oldest Masters
Now, back to the Boston Goddess. Lacey Caskey, writing for the museum, noted that the statuette's distinctive posture "seems not to have been an artistic convention, but a feature of the actual appearance of this aristocratic race."
This aristocratic race. Oof.
Lapatin observes, in the book, that "Minoan civilization was all the rage, for it seemed to provide Europeans with not only the roots of the ‘Golden Age of Greece,’ long considered the foundation of Western culture, but also a sophisticated early society in its own right, a rival to the 'Oriental' cultures of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia--known as the cradle of civilization..."
Victorian occultists, of course, tended to claim that their practices were derived from ancient Egyptian or Chaldean rituals. And again, even as they attempted to partake of the antiquity and sophistication of those cultures, they were also trying to prove that white people, or at least divine beings (rather than non-Europeans), built them. (It's always been a bit ironic to me that the Victorians clung to the idea of the superiority of Greece and Rome as the foundation for their ideas of the superiority of white people, while considering contemporary Greeks and Italians not fully white, but I digress.)
And lest you think that I'm hammering too hard on this point, some of the most prominent descriptions of Evans' finds praised the Minoan frescoes as "the Oldest Masters," and his work as proving the culture "bid fair rival to those of the Orient, and to give European Civilization an undreamed of antiquity."
It's hard to overstate the degree to which the archaeological motivation here was European insecurity.
High-Bred Beauty (and I Am Not, Alas, Describing a Horse)
And why was the Boston Goddess herself such a sensation? Her "exquisite characterization of fragile beauty," her "delicate, high-bred beauty." She is "demure," and "full of resolute charm." Professor Ernest Gardner, at Yale, described her head as "recall[ing] rather the sculptures of Gothic cathedrals of the thirteenth centuries."
Or, to be more explicit and just say the quiet part out loud, her face has also been described as "Anglo-Saxon," "European-looking," "Victorian," "Edwardian," and "Parisienne."
To understand what they’re talking about, let’s do a little compare and contrast. Here are some examples of faces from figurines that, to the best of our knowledge, are actually from Crete c. 1500-1200 BCE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here’s a close-up of the Boston Goddess’s face:
Tumblr media
And here’s the face of a now-probably-debunked “Minoan” goddess at the Royal Ontario Museum (read more about her here):
Tumblr media
To cut to the chase, eventually they did radiocarbon testing on the Boston Goddess, and the ivory was found to date from between 1420 and 1635 CE. (Not BCE. CE. As in the Renaissance.) A similar figurine, the Seattle Boy God, is made from ivory that's about 500 years old. That in itself is pretty fascinating! They were using old ivory for the forgeries.
What do these proven and suspected fakes have in common? Well, among other things, their very Victorian facial features: inset eyes, small pouty mouths, delicate noses.
Spoiler for where I’m going with this: There are reasons why the Minoans were such an archeological craze, and those reasons are highly political. Because of the ways in which a very specific agenda shaped it, fakes that showed people what they wanted to see were accepted as real (and in some cases, are still sort of accepted as real), and we can't trust a lot of what we supposedly "know."
In Part 2: Bagging On Sir Arthur Evans Forever.

I think it’s super interesting how the patriarchy is so embedded into our culture that our modern language helps push patriarchal values.
I’ve done a bit of personal research into this topic and thought I would share it here
(Note this was a quick highschool project so it’s not super in-depth but I would love other people’s thoughts on it) sorry this is long :)
I’m currently taking a class in my high school where we are talking about gender, feminism, sexuality, and the patriarchy. Specifically how the patriarchy is imbedded in our day to day lives and how it’s effects intersect with other issues such as racism, homophobia, classism, etc.
I looked into the English language and linguistic relativity.
An Analysis of Sexism in English
In the English lexicon, one of the most obvious evidences of sexism is the affixes which lead to a view of women as a deviation from men. This is commonly seen with suffixes such as -ess or -ette.
Example: Actor “ a person who plays the part of a character in a movie or play”, when attached to a feminine suffix –ess, becomes actress with the meaning of “ woman with profession similar to those of actor”. ← othering of women as if Femininity is inherently not human. Why is actor “a person” while Actress is “A woman” why make the distinction?
Other examples include:
Masculine Feminine
ambassador ambassadress
duke duchess
prince princess
poet poetess
Sometimes adding the suffix -ett or -ess completely changes the meaning and value of the word. (Govenor vs Goveness- one rules a country the other teaches children in their homes).
Why does this matter?
We need to considered how language is intimately tied to behavior, knowledge, and culture. Sapri-Whorf Hypothesis, more commonly known as linguistic relativity is the theory that a person's language changes how they perceive the world around them. Since its conception, this theory has been widely debated. However, most people believe the theory, it's debated how much language impacts our culture, but the idea that it has an impact is backed up by many studies.
Studies include Colour study, how Russian speakers could identify colors faster than English speakers + How German speakers lost that ability after years of speaking English. Note that Russian and German both have more labels for colors, differing them from English speakers.
How has our language accidentally othered femininity?
The acoustic and perceptual bases of judgments of women and men's sexual orientation from read speech.
This studies how people view sexual orientation based on their speech and voice. They found that gay men were easier to identify than lesbians even though they both changed their speech. Men would raise their voice, feminine while women would lower theirs to be more masculine. This shows how femininity is easier to identify because we see it as an “other” so when women show more masculine traits we gloss over it because we see it as more “normal”.
This is only one example that shines light on how we don’t even notice these biases. There are likely hundreds of more that we can't even begin to imagine because it is so ingrained in our day-to-day life, our culture, and our society.
Impact/intersect
Misogyny and Homophobia: Patriarchy, gender policing, and the Male Gaze
It’s hard to tell which came first. Did our black and white language accidentally push an anti feminine belief or has misogyny and the patriarchy impacted our day to day speech? Either way at this point it’s more of a cycle constantly pushing patriarchal values.
Misogyny is not only the act of hating women but hating anything seen as “feminine”. When it comes to homophobia gay men and lesbian women are treated differently. Homosexual men tend to suffer discrimination and abuse because they don’t fit what is considered “manly” This is why people say things like “that's so gay” as an insult. Men not adhering to masculinity or showing more feminine traits are discouraged.
On the other hand, lesbians get more hate due to fetishization and breaking the patriarchy. Many queer women in WLW presenting relationships have experienced comments including “Can I get in on that” or “I can join in if you want a threesome”. Interestingly, “butch” women and others who present more masculine are “treated with fear and contempt for trying to encroach on traditionally male territory and not conforming to normative ideals of female beauty” (Williamson, 7).
Obviously there’s more impacts that have resulted however I just focused on homophobia as an example of intersectionality. If you have any other examples feel free to add on and share them.
Anyways thanks for listening to my rant I just thought it was interesting :)

[ 6:55PM ] – you lit your phone to check the time while heading to the runway studio inside the huge luxurious fashion complex you're in. you look around and everything is, gold, though you weren't surprised at all since this is all you've been seeing even before you became a model yourself.
fame and wealth go way back when your mom earned a position as a fashion director in a prestigious clothing line. now you're on your own – attending photoshoots and getting promotions and offers as an ambassadress of a specific clothing item from every clothing line you could think of. rich AND pretty, wow. you own it all. and you know it damn well. though it's not all champagnes and limousines – you have also been set ridiculously unrealistic standards to be able to keep up with what you've set foot on. these thoughts go around your head everyday and everytime they can, and unfortunately these thoughts made you bump in to a young well-dressed man on the large hallway out of absentmindedness.
"shit- i'm so sorry miss, are you okay?" he hurriedly grabbed the purse that fell onto the ground, but with your paranoid mindset, you snatched it from him as a defense mechanism. you breathe and compose yourself better before speaking. "my apologies...? you are?" "oh, park jongseong. call me jay." he extended his hand as a sign for you to shake it. you hesitated and gave him a look and his friend beside him before finally holding his hand. "your friend?" you gestured at the tall boy who dresses neatly the same as jay. "oh, this is my friend. heeseung." you just bowed to him 'cause, well, you just did. he was also extending his hand when you ignored it and bowed down to him, making him fluster and pull his hand back. heeseung let out an awkward chuckle when jay finally spoke : "well, we must be meeting someone at the entrance before the runway show starts right about now. see you there, miss...?" "_____." "yes, miss _____." jay excused himself and nodded before heeseung abruptly imitates him and walked towards the entrance. "hmm." you muttered to yourself.
[ 7:00PM ] – "the show will start in 15 minutes." the speaker announced. you find your reserved seat, but the chair beside you piqued your interest instead. reserved for park jongseong. while the seat beside his had a reserved for lee heeseung place card with gold trim on it. it's a small world, after all.
a few minutes have passed, you saw the two walk towards their reserved seats beside you with your peripheral vision but they stopped mid-track when jay saw you. "miss _____? so glad to meet you again." he bowed down to you like you're a rich ajumma while you just flashed them a smile. he hovered big steps for him and heeseung to be able to sit shortly since they were supposed to sit on the opposite side of where they entered.
at this point, you were starting to try so hard to not have an interest in him but just his scent alone that whiffed on you when he passed by is trying to prove you otherwise. his hair done with a wet-look was enough for you to have the courage and ask for his number. and, you were thanking heavens because : "miss _____, i've been meaning to give you this since the moment we bumped into each other 5 minutes ago." he hands you a business card : 'euphorica'. park jongseong, CEO. for business inquiries, contact this number.
your eyes widen to his actions because you swore to yourself you were mentally asking for his number a second ago. "i want you in my company for an ambassadress tryout. you fit the standard – in fact – you are the standard. you can call the number stated there if you're interested." he continued.
"thanks for the recommendation, jay." you analyzed the place card once more before continuing, "i wasn't aware i was talking to a top-notch ceo." surprised, you raised your brows with an impressed smile. you didn't even know where you're pulling all this charisma from. you're just a model, he's a full-on ceo. if there was something you think you needed to do, it was to polish his already-polished $5k shoes and serve him. but no, you're a composed woman for the night. no flirting, no acts, just you and the love of your life – modelling.
even with the background music playing, you could hear heeseung's loud whispers at jay, "dude, that girl is the deal. you should pull another stunt like getting her a drink at the bartender section later if you really want her to call you." you weren't sure of who they were talking about 'til the last bit. or are you? how could you possibly know if he didn't just give around his business card to random hot girls roaming around the complex? he looked like a playboy, that's for sure. along with his sidekick, bestfriend, or whatever. who knows? he might even be a scam or a fraud! honestly, you thought to yourself that you sometimes need to give everyone a break. you won't be able to communicate with ANYONE if you always think they're all a threat. you let your guards down just this once and let the man entertain you, that is IF heeseung and jay really were talking about you. you distracted yourself with your phone for a bit by scrolling on instagram and not long the show is already starting.
[ 7:15PM ] – "please give a huge round of applause for : euphorica." everybody clapped their hands – including mr. park jongseong beside you who only appeared 10x more charming than before. jay slowly leaned to you, "watch closely, okay? then tell me which outfits you would like to wear during photoshoot so i can choose them for you if you're interested." "surely." you nodded, giving him an assuring smile. "after, we could have a drink at the bar, up there, the rooftop." he gave you that expression with an eyebrow raised and a knowingly smirk, leaving you visibly flustered. he snickered at your expression in return, then leaned back to his seat to whisper something at heeseung. "is this guy seriously flirting with me? if so, he clearly knows his way around girls. hmm, let's see who's better at it." you thought to yourself. you crossed your arms and legs as you watched the show.
every few outfits, he asks you if you fancy them – sometimes yes, sometimes no – but it's the nature of fashion; some will fail miserably and some will pass everybody's standards. he wraps his arm around heeseung's chair while heeseung is leaning forward – his elbows resting on his knees – siren eyes intensely staring at whatever his eyes dart on, face down eyes up.
[ 8:45PM ] – the runway show ended with a few different brands showing off their newbie collection. turns out euphorica is just some kind of an opening remark and that everyone else is starting off fresh in the fashion industry.
jay stood up, heeseung stretched after sitting for a full hour, you checked your things inside your purse idly. jay offers his hand to you, "have you made up your mind, miss _____? rooftop drink." you pause for a second to think of the possible aftermath – broken heart? empty bank vault? ruined reputation? or a really good night after this? you finally made up your mind, "if the drinks are on you, then let's go." you placed your hand on top of his and now he clasped on it. "never thought i'd still be thirdwheeling with all the money and power that i have." heeseung yawned, earning a laugh from jay and a mischievous chuckle from you. you three stepped inside the elevator with platinum buttons and a huge interior with elevator mirrors all around.
"it's not even been a full day and you're already taking the lady to the vip bar." heeseung intentionally stated in a subtle way as he whistles and looks around the elegant elevator like he hasn't stepped inside it before. jay, for the first time that you've seen tonight, was confused at first, but then got embarrassed by heeseung's words later on. he lets out a nervous slash awkward chuckle as he prompts his stance properly – no slouching and bad posture. "no worries, i know my way around boys. i'm sure i can handle whatever stunt mr. jongseong here would throw at me." heeseung gave jay a side-eye – indicating that both have already realized that you've heard what they were talking about before the runway show started. "honestly not expecting for you to be as good as you are in this game, jay. bumping into a girl in a 20ft wide half-empty hallway. how ridiculous." you taunted him to see if he would budge.
from being a mannered gentleman, he started to act like an immature playboy – except his statements made sense. he scoffed, "...you really think i did that on purpose? maybe you're just too assuming for someone who bumped into us." he looked directly at you. "why the sudden change of demeanor, mr. handsome ceo?" you leaned a little closer to him, the tension rising rapidly as heeseung just watches you both interestedly on the corner left side of the elevator near the door. "so you admit i'm handsome?" he, once again, raises his brow at you along with his infamous smirk. "i only tell people what they want to hear." you clapped back.
"wHOOOO! GO RANT THE SHIT OUT OF JAY OVER HERE!" heeseung cheers you out of nowhere, waving his fist up in the air while screaming and clapping inside the enclosed space. you broke into laughter, "oh my god, you're SO funnier than jay over here-" you abruptly chuckled when you saw jay's face – scrunched up nose, squinted eyes, smiling lips – does he like being made fun of? oh what the hell. all that matters is that heeseung was there to cut the tension off of everyone inside the elevator. speaking of elevator, the conversation made it feel like you've been inside for a really long time when it's just been less than a minute.
the door opens, once again, jay extends his elbow for you to hold on to. would you look at that – a guy who can both be ass AND be respectful towards ladies – there's something about him that's making you think about your decision regarding his tryout offer. and he was the one to personally reach out to you. he made you feel important and lucky just by being an accommodating ceo from who-knows-where. so then, what if he was to be your suitor? wait. everything seems too fast, let the man get you a drink first and see how he acts towards you outside of the fashion field before making your decision, as a person who's interested in someone.
the rooftop welcomed you with a cool breeze and rainbow lights everywhere. the night skies building the atmosphere of a chill night and the cityview which you won't ever forget when you leaned on the glass pane fence of the edges of the rooftop. the tiny lights in buildings and the way they all looked so tiny, the heavy traffic with blurbs of red, orange, and yellow, the booming bass of the dj's songs making the atmosphere very much like a club's, and how this random ceo brought you here for a drink just because you caught his eye. all this feeling and mesmerizing happiness inside you just makes everything so memorable and gets you in the feels so much.
"what would you like to drink, _____?" jongseong walked up behind your back and gently pat you on the shoulder, his other hand inside his pocket. you squint your eyes as a sign of distaste coming out of nowhere, "where's heeseung?" he scoffed without any humour and lifted his hand away from your shoulder. "why?" he responded while you answered with a "nothing, do simple questions like that hurt your ego?" he then gave you a shady response, "you want me to give him a call so i can tell him to pick you up and act like his puppy?" you completely turned to him, crossing your arms as you glare at him – even though you were feeling every inch of your body be filled with anger 'cause of jay who referred to you as someone's puppy, you still found a tiny opportunity of pissing him off even more "why are you mad, then? you mad i'm gonna like heeseung more than you and your whole night of trying to pull something from me AND me will go to waste?" you gave jay a smirk to top it all off.
jay was waiting for you to say something else, hands in his pockets and tapping his foot, his eyebrow raised. now you really can't see anything in him, you can't read him if he's being serious or he's thinking of a comeback like the ass that he is, 'cause his serious face is on for a tough second now. you broke the silence into a gentle laughter as you placed your hands on his chest, you had to slightly tilt your head and neck up so you can look at him face-to-face, "i'm kidding, jay. ofcourse i'm having fun with this.. game or bachelorette shit suitor whatever you want to call it." you gave him an assuring smile then he gave back that assuring smile you just gave him. he placed his hands on your shoulders, "i'm glad to know that, i wouldn't want to waste my money on drinks for someone with no taste." jay gave you a silly expression, raising his brows up and down with his eyes squinted and his mouth forming a grin. you laughed at the sight and gave him playful slaps. "what are you doing?" you asked him in the middle of your laughing fits with him.
you both sat on an empty table. "no but i'm serious though, where's heeseung?" you attempted to ask again before hearing : "no but i was also serious earlier, what would you like to drink?" now that you finally put your mind to it, you're lost in what to drink. it's been such a long time since you drank and the last time someone asked you what you wanted to drink. "hmm i'm thinking, soju? grapefruit flavor... i want to keep things plain tonight." he paused before finally answering your question : "heeseung's there." he pointed from afar, near the bartender where heeseung was animatedly talking to a fashionable lady and a man who were seemingly of high ranks as well.
"i see," you subconsciously spoke, "if you don't mind me asking, i mean, you probably won't since we're getting to know each other; how did you become a CEO? what's heeseung's rank status and how did you two become friends?" jay inhaled then sighed heavily, "i'll tell once i take our drinks." he clicked his tongue and walked towards the bartender. but, he came back to you midway and placed his hands on the table, leaning towards you,
"are you gonna be okay here? alone?" this question made your heart race. never have your boyfriends you've dated in the past gave you this kind of persona where they subtly care, let alone just act like it. then, you burst out a chuckle, "uh, ofcourse i am? you and heeseung could literally see if i'm not. but thank you for asking, jay." you placed your hand on his as he lifted his other hand and placed it on top of yours. he gave you a very simple but heartmelting smile you'll ever remember. he walked away again, then turned back to you again.
"so sorry to ruin the mood for the both of us – me walking away while you sit here being in your feels 'cause of earlier, but i forgot your drink." you both shared a good minute of laughing and bickering, "jay, soju. grapefruit flavor." jay walked away once again, laughing to himself while you adoringly watched him. "that guy." you happily muttered under your breath, shaking your head.
[ 9:00PM ] – you checked the time right before you saw jay approach your table. a few seconds after he sat on his chair, a waiter approaches you both with the drinks on the tray. "one soju grapefruit and one brandy on the rocks." the waiter gently places the drinks one by one onto the table, next the napkins, then excused himself. "so, tell me everything." you took a sip and let out a sigh. "well, this is how everything started. seung and i, we go way back. cliche to say, i know, but back to the topic.
back then he's already a son of a remarkable man – a ceo, the owner of this complex. so he had an insight on how industry works." his statement earned a silent 'wow' from you. "we attended the same classes, being in the same circle of friends 'til it's just the two of us, we did everything together, even convincing my dad to let me stay up all night. pft, elementary days. anyway, we eventually graduated both. he was already an owner of a small business back in highschool 'til it grew into the famous brand we all know – chanel." wow. freaking chanel. at first, you weren't even believing his words 'cause of how ridiculously expensive everything sounds. "you gotta be kidding- chanel? the dress i'm wearing right now?" jay quietly nodded. you leaned back on your seat, keeping an anguished face. man, you're on the high leagues now.
"that was highschool, i only earned the title of being a ceo the day i graduated college – you know, dynasty. ofcourse i was experienced in dealing with everything a ceo does since my dad was one, and he's the one to teach me marketing strategies and such. but not as much as seung. he was literally the one to run everything, with his own hands, power, and ideas." jay holds his glass by the rim and starts to circle it around, mixing the melted ice with the brandy. "so, i really don't know how to react when people think i'm the superior one between us. maybe it's because he just looks goofy and acts so humble all the time. but if i'm being honest, i look up to heeseung a lot." a hint of admiration appears on your face. "wow, they must be really inseparable" you thought to yourself. "don't let him know that, though. that might egg him and mess with me about it for a few weeks. so, in short – heeseung is a sidekick-in-disguise. we become each other's wingman at times. just don't like it sometimes when he calls me out infront someone. so spiritually degrading."
you almost choked on your drink when he said the last bit in the middle of you sipping. "you two really act like brothers, that's for sure." he lets out a mischievous laughter, "yeah, right." the night was greatly spent with the both of you getting to know each other, with a few drinks being consumed due to elongated conversations. heeseung eventually joined the table and had a fun chat with you and jongseong. ahh, a thirdwheeler indeed.
come to think of it, everything is actually happening very fast – you just met this guy, now you're both sharing precious moments in a rooftop bar. it's like everything clicked just perfectly and now you're rolling with it 'cause it feels right. jay's kind too, you know. he really seemed much of a sarcastic jerk at times but, it just comes with his personality which is pretty unique and humorous. he knows when to joke and when to stop. and that's when you realized, you have interest in him.
the night ended with heeseung saying his goodbyes to you and jay before taking off in his limo and jay booking you an uber to your house. if you were honest, you wanted him to take you to your home personally since you have drank. though, he had too. it wouldn't be the best for him to drive since you could already see his tipsiness with the way he walks swaying his body to an unknown rhythm.
"thank you for tonight, jay. this is really memorable. and, i might take you up on your offer regarding the photoshoot tryout." you held up his business card he gave you to his face. "i had a good talk with you too, ms. _____. i have hopes in us meeting again, about business or not." he winked at you. you snickered at him 'cause he probably did that 'cause he was drunk... right? anyway, you gracefully sat inside the uber and said your goodbye to jongseong.
euphorica. where fashion has no limits. you scanned the business card he gave you and typed the digits in your phone. then the moment of silence with your driver went on 'til you came home. every lights you see on the streets looked brighter and happier, everything was colorful and your heart was jumping – looking back to everything that happened tonight. guess letting your guards down for tonight was a really great idea than you expected.
[ 2:00AM ] you're in your pajamas laying in your bed, staring at the ceiling of your high-end condominium. you couldn't sleep despite all the bottles of soju you consumed. all this insomnia made you finally decide about jay's offer. you tapped the saved number 'euphorica' on your phone. there, you started a chat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"did this dude really just confess to me in his business number? wow. this man," you muttered to yourself. "i might change my mind just 'cause of his unprofessionalism..." you pause to yourself, "but... he really isn't the type to rush things. i mean... if he wanted to rush then he would've told me the story, right? right?" you catch yourself lacking. you were talking to yourself. *crying emoji* but in reality, you were right. who knew? maybe he just found you really pretty FOR his fashion collection. not as a potential girlfriend. but what's important for you at this moment is that, your career is now ongoing under fashionable mr. jongseong's hold. you finally drifted to sleep after closure.

2022: Greatest hits
That's an amazing idea @roseofbattles! So many bad things can happen in a year that we forget good things have happened, and happen everyday as well. So, 2022 for me has been:
After one and a half year unemployed, I've finally found a job! A short contract, but it was the first time I could be autonomous, and less than one month after the end, I've already found another job, and a long term one!
In March and October I became aunt for the second and third times, and my nephews and my niece are all so cute!
My family got to meet twice with everyone, and it was really nice to get the time to chat with my SiL (and we talked about fanfictions!)
I've been more spontaneous this year, and thanks to this I've reunited with a friend I hadn't seen in two years! I went to her city and got to visit Strasbourg and a few places in Alsace in October
I've begun to see a therapist who works with hypnosis, and it has been great for my self-confidence!
I've taken part to a few exchanges for the Jaime/Brienne fandom, and I had lots of fun doing it! I won't stop, that's certain!
I've also taken part to the amazing project that was the Royai Wedding Podcast! I'm doing the voice of the Aerugonian ambassadress
I've reached 100 works on AO3!
I've developed and found new friendships, and I'm glad I met them all
Thanks to them, I've also drawn again! (to the people who have received them, you can share the fanarts I've sent you!) (because I didn't scan them...)
Everyone has good things, even small ones, that have happened to them this year: @goneadrift @klainelynch @equinooxe @wind-on-the-panes @dragonifyoudare @magipies @vayalda @scienceoftheidiot @js589 @rosenlily-aka-choconut if you want

They set up a Go Fund Me for the donation that they will give to Terre des Homes to celebrate Thekla's bday! I've seen Thekla's advocacies and she's an ambassadress for Terre do Homes, an organization for children's rights. Your girl is poor so she cannot donate yet (A dollar here costs 56 of our currency; that's how bad it was), but if you have at least 5 dollars, please, donate.

Ivanov Seniors Graduate!
Tumblr media
Ivanov Seniors experienced a bittersweet day today, even more so than any usual High School Graduation, as over the celebrations and festivities hung a black cloud of doom.
After the conference officially announcing that the Empire was at war with Windenburg, all foreign students were immediately sent back to their respective countries and families- except for the graduating seniors, who were allowed to stay a few more weeks in order to complete their courses and celebrate this momentous milestone.

Only a few short months after she had transfered to IRA from a school in Komorebi, Miss Reyna Medieros, the ambassadress' daughter, graduated with top marks despite the chaos of changing schools mid-year. She was joined by her parents, Mr. Ignas and Ambassador Samantha Medieros, as well as her younger brother, Ricardo Medieros. Miss Medieros will be attending Foxbury Institute for her first year of college, and hopes one day to transfer to Mount Komorebi University to continue her studies in Komorebian Culture and Diplomacy.

His Lordship, Viscount Beckham Landgraab, walked across the stage in front of his parents, Princess Carolin and Soren Landgraab, Duke and Duchess Clovervale, and his older sister, Lady Brianne. Princess Malie celebrated her culture by wearing a Sulani Lei as she walked across the stage, in honor of her mother, grandmother, and younger sister who could not be at her graduation. Sulani is one of the island nations in the Southern Sea currently being occupied by Windenburgian Naval Forces. But Malie did not celebrate alone. She was able to be joined by her paternal Aunt and Uncle, Queen Misha and King Cesare Colona, and grandfather, Prince Widower Alfonso Colona, all three of whom currently reside in Glimmerbrooke. Princess Malie will be continuing her education at Britechester University for the duration of the war, then plans to transfer to the Chieftain's International University in Sulani when she's able to. She hopes to double major in Sulani History and Mythology, and Sports Medicine.

“...Historians often stress the differences in the education of early modern girls and boys, and echo the dismissive attitudes of didactic authors toward a female education that focused on “the accomplishments” rather than on serious scholarship. But in the informal, yet essential, lessons of sociability, elite boys and girls frequently shared the same educational process. While scholars recognize the importance of mothers in early training, the continued role of women in this informal education as children grew up has generally been underestimated.
Of course women were excluded from the Grand Tour, the experiential education so important to young men of the aristocracy. Yet as the arbiters of the rules of sociability and politeness among the elite, women played a powerful role. It should perhaps not be surprising, then, that aristocratic women were acutely aware of the importance of “good breeding,” and spent much time and energy trying to ensure an adequate social education for their children. Thus Lady Strafford noted with pride that one night at court the French Ambassadress had praised her son’s “Politeness” for giving up his place to her.
The Countess of Portland, on the other hand, was outraged when she found out that her grandsons had failed to pay their respects to the Princess Royal. Learning such formalities was a fundamental part of “a man of qualities education,” she insisted; her grandsons “must have a great politeness, which will gain them esteem.” Acquiring politeness while still young was essential, so that as an adult one could interact in the Quality with ease, demonstrating the naturalness that was thought to reveal good breeding. Behaving naturally in polite society showed that one deserved a place in that society, but it took many years to learn this “natural” behavior.
The skills taught in formal polite education, such as dancing, were the outward representations of the aesthetic sensibility and self-control valued as the bases of polite behavior, and many aristocratic women took great care to ensure that their children learned these skills. Dancing was essential since it revealed gracefulness and deportment – hence, dancing masters also taught the details of bowing, curtseying, and proper posture. In 1695 Viscount Hatton’s eldest daughter helped him to find a dancing master for her halfsiblings; it cost £3 a month for instructions that would include helping the smallest boy learn “to walk and make a legg.”
The Countess of Strafford paid slightly more – three guineas a month – for a dancing master to teach her three youngest children. She kept careful track of all her children’s dancing partners, including her son’s, and reported the details of balls to her husband. In 1734, for example, she came back well satisfied from court after the Prince Royal had offered to find a partner for her daughter Lucy and had expressed his enjoyment of the entire family’s company. Lady Strafford was proud of Lucy’s dancing abilities but worried about another daughter, Harriot, “for she Pokes sadly & I tell her of it perpeatually.”
Skill in dancing mattered because it revealed gentility as well as coordination; Lady Hervey complimented the Duke of Grafton’s daughter as “the agreeablest dancer, the genteelest and the prettiest Creature that ever lived.” Dancing also introduced children to the arenas of sociability in which they would encounter other members of the Quality, including potential spouses. The lessons began early in life. In 1751, Mary Delany organized a “tiny ball” in the afternoon for fourteen people between the ages of eight and twenty-one.
Occasions like this one, which mirrored all the rituals of dancing and dining common to balls for adults, enabled children to practice their skills in both dancing and politeness before trying them in the larger world where the stakes were higher. Even more important than such formal skills, however, were the less tangible lessons that were acquired through association with people of quality. As Lady Mary Wortley Montagu remarked about assemblies, sociability created “a more enlarg’d way of thinking” through “a kind of public Education.”
Because women were especially important in this training, they continued to play a major role in this aspect of children’s education well after the very early years with which their influence is usually associated. Frances Boscawen’s journal for 1763 repeatedly recorded taking her daughters visiting, to balls, and to court, and she noted when they were presented to the Queen, or the occasions on which they danced.
Another woman saw a double value in her daughter’s visit to Bath: she “improves almost as much as she diverts herself here,” wrote the proud mother, adding (perhaps a bit optimistically), “I hope seeing so much of what is called entertainment now will make her less eager for public places when she is first married.” In the 1730s, the Countess of Strafford’s letters as well as her children’s described them engaging in a wide array of sociable activities. Lady Strafford was pleased that her son’s “acquantance increases & mulltiplys Extremly,” which she clearly saw as important to his position as only son and heir to the earldom.
When her daughters grew older, she became more careful of their acquaintances. In 1736 she was happy to have her son attend as many dances as possible, but her sixteen-year-old daughter Harriot was “to bigg now to [go]e amoung a heap of boys where I dont viset.” Even within this gendered framework, however, she remained in charge of all her children’s sociable activities. The family frequently wrote about visiting, dining out, and trips to court, theater, and opera.
In one sense this was, of course, simply passing on news of the day’s activities. But it was more significant as well. Such correspondence communicated the children’s successful assimilation into the Quality. Mothers were not the only women involved in this sociable education; a wide network of women, both kin and friends, could help in the good breeding of children. Lady Frances Hastings was concerned that her niece and nephew were picking up bad habits from the broad Yorkshire accent and dialect of one of their servants, so when her niece offered to cut her “a bonny flower,” Lady Frances took care to reprove the child for her uncouth language.
Elizabeth Montagu similarly worried about Lord Lyttelton’s thirteen-year-old daughter, who had not mastered polite behavior. “There is a great deal of good in her, but her virtues are in deshabille, her understanding totally undressed,” she wrote, adding, “she does not know how much the amiableness of a woman depends on trivial things. I talked very seriously to her on the consequences of neglecting the ordinary accomplishments of people of her rank.”
…Aristocratic women thus often played a significant role in the education of children not only during their infancy but also, and perhaps more importantly, during their introduction into elite society in their teens. These women ensured that their children – and those of their relatives and friends – received the necessary training in the accomplishments that distinguished the members of the elite. They also introduced children to the Quality and continued to monitor their behavior to ensure that they had mastered the rituals of polite interaction.”
- Ingrid H. Tague, “Politeness and Sociability.” in Women of Quality: Accepting and Contesting Ideals of Femininity in England, 1690-1760
