I am not entirely certain what will happen once the actors & writers strike ends, but I'm pretty sure Michael Sheen will break the sound barrier with how fast he will go feral on the internets about how Aziraphale wants to eat Crowley's ox rib

Camboy Rantaro Head-canons
request; Do you take individual requests? If you do, headcanons for Camboy Rantaro? its totally fine if you don’t want to do this, thank you
warnings; sex toys(butt plugs), unedited, dirty talk, camboy!rantaro, praise kink, aural kink, unedited, masturbation(m receiving), mention of pillow humping, brat rantaro???? kinda but not rlly???????, this doesn’t really have a reader present.
note; I love this concept! It stirred up some brain juices in me :0 thank you for requesting this, it was fun to do! aha and I may have gone overboard with this one too-
◊ No one would have expected the Rantaro Amami, known for being very brotherly and often awkward around affection, a camboy.
◊ It’s the last thing you’d expect from the chill, laid-back guy.
◊ Then again, he was also known for being mysterious, this secret could be one of many.
◊ Rantaro is actually pretty good at keeping secrets, however that doesn’t mean he likes keeping secrets.
◊ I head-canon that Rantaro doesn’t feel ashamed of his career as a camboy. In all honesty, he never has. He’s never found a reason why he should be ashamed; everybody has desires, why shouldn’t he have his own? And why shouldn’t he fulfill his?
◊ That being said, Rantaro would have the same attitude to others if they had told him a kink they had, or a sexual fantasy and/or desire. Although I don’t think he’d enjoy talking about it so publicly, because even though kinks are a great thing to have and discuss, he thinks it may not be too polite to talk about it so openly.
◊ Although he definitely tip-toed around the subject and avoided it—that doesn’t come up all that often—he’s not ashamed of it one bit. He just doesn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with his details of his job, and honestly, it makes him slightly uncomfortable to talk about his occupation.
◊ Now, to the actual camboy part.
◊ I can totally imagine being a pretty popular camboy, his voice and his body combined would kill anyone on sight. But if you ever told him straight-up about how popular he was or just treated him as a celebrity, he’d probably refuse the statement, saying he wasn’t as good as other camboys and girls, even dropping names of the artists he loves. In which, everyone swoons over his humbleness, only starting to praise him more.
◊ That being said, even if Rantaro doesn’t typically accept the statement of being popular, he himself as he actually very well known. And so, I don’t think Rantaro would be able to show his face on camera, as he would probably be recognized instantly. He’s always either always wearing a mask or keeping his head out the camera view.
◊ I think Rantaro would’ve chosen this career due to his repressed feelings he has from being selfless, putting others before his needs. As a camboy, he’s helping others with their own problems, and they’re helping him with his, it’s a lovely exchange. Elaborating on why Rantaro chose this career, I think Rantaro would’ve been lonely, as he lost his entire family. So seeing a few thousand people commenting and talking to him, makes him feel less alone when he’s missing the comfort of people. It makes him happy, and definitely more sure and confident of himself as millions of kinky compliments flood his live chat.
◊ Rantaro mostly does this for leisure, as he is well-off, he doesn’t really need the money. Despite what he says about his fans not having to pay him to do something, as he’ll do it for free, his charming personality definitely ends up getting him more rich unintentionally.
◊ Rantaro’s comforting and carefree personality has viewers feeling less guilty, and potentially less shameful for indulging in things like this. His voice is definitely a huge turn-on, and a great comfort for many. It’s not uncommon to have viewers beg him to say specific things like, “Good boy/girl.” or, “Keep going, you’re doing so well for me.” Although, Rantaro says many things and moans many things, so he usually doesn’t get too many requests; he always leaves them satisfied.
◊ Rantaro definitely doesn’t end the stream until he knows everyone got off successfully, he’ll hold back and edge himself until everybody cums if he has to. However, the pained, desperate moans get everyone off quick, so he doesn’t have to edge himself for too long.
◊ When Rantaro gets hateful comments, he either tries to laugh it off- but before he could say a word, everyone’s already defending him. He’d be really glad to have people protect him like this, as the older sibling it was always the other way around. Though, he usually tells everyone they don’t have to, instead just blocking the person and moving on.
◊ I don’t think he’d be too affected by negative comments about him, or his body, it doesn’t faze him as much as he thought it would.
◊ I think Rantaro would be willing to try almost everything, he holds his viewers close to him and he doesn’t want them to be disappointed by him not doing a certain action to his body. Within reason, of course. Any request made by them, that Rantaro sees, will immediately put into action as soon as he sees it. It just gets him excited to being told to do something, despite not technically wanting it himself, the fans get what they ask for.
◊ He even sometimes begs them for a specific thing although he’s the one who controls mostly everything, he decided to give the control to his viewers.
◊ Some things Rantaro usually does when there aren’t requests, are just the occasional hand job he gives himself, butt plugs he slowly pushes in himself as he shows everyone more clearly by turning around. He puts on quite a show, sometimes wiggling his ass playfully, or playing with his nipples to tease the viewers. He can be a brat at times.
◊ The man definitely wears rings, even when they may feel cold against his skin, he wears them to show off his hands and, well, he just thinks he looks cool like that so he keeps them on. His fans do not complain, rings are hot now, it’s a trend, deal with it.
◊ The man has definitely given several thousands of people an aural kink. He probably ruined moans for people, his being the only one people can get off to now.
◊ Though he occasionally buys a new toy to try out in front of the camera, even when they aren’t requested, he buys them with his own will as he wants to keep his fans entertained(as well as wanting to try it out himself). What can I say? He’s adventurous, he likes exploring new things!
◊ Another thing I can imagine Rantaro enjoying is praise. The man has a giant praise kink, you could praise any part of him, his body, his voice, his personality, he will be putty and cum in seconds. His fans know this, and they definitely take advantage of it; sending him praises about how good he’s doing, has whines and groans falling out his mouth as he throws his head back in pleasure of his own hand.
◊ If his viewers asked for it, he’d totally moan into the mic instructions on what he wants you to do to yourself as you watch, his voice soft, teasing but still stern. “Play with your nipples and imagine I’m the one doing it for you, and while you’re at it, go ahead and hump that pillow like a dog. C’mon, a little harder than that, yeah?” Like I said earlier, aural kink.
◊ I also head-canon most of his fans are ones that are loyal to him, he has a charm that gets everyone attached, and so people who watch one stream of his, get attached immediately. He definitely is the type to recognize usernames, so if you ever came back to him, he’d be extremely happy and say your username specifically, thanking you for coming back.
◊ Since most of his fans are loyal, and regulars, his viewers are usually just the same ones with the same usernames. So he’d clearly notice if there was an unfamiliar username in the sea of the live chat, always making sure to greet them with a welcome whenever he can.
◊ Overall, he’s a very sweet, friendly and switch-type camboy.

Inspired by this post by @whump-princess all about tail whump~ Specifically “getting it caught or slamming it in a door”.
Featuring my demon/incubus OC Arinn. He has tiny horns and a thin, smooth “devil tail” sort of tail. He can magically hide them to blend in but doesn’t need to at home with Alex. He is “fed”/energized by physical affection (this story makes 0 sense without that info).
Tagging @deluxewhump ? This isn’t that sort of Arinn story but I did promise to tag you. :)
CW: tail whump, tail injury, broken bones, bruising, swearing, comfort, affection, romantic relationship, touching, kissing, a few light innuendos but nothing overtly sexual.
----
The cozy Saturday afternoon silence in the apartment is interrupted by the slam of the door... followed by an agonized scream from the doorway. There’s a thud and a string of curses in at least four languages.
Startled, Alex sets down his phone on the kitchen counter and hurries into the living room.
“Ari?”
Sure enough, his demon boyfriend Arinn is standing there, looking...not great. His face is flushed and pinched with pain, his fists clenched tight, white-knuckled. Bags of groceries lie at either side of his feet, their contents spilling out onto the floor. Alex couldn’t care less about them. He steps closer.
“Ari, what’s wrong? Hey, breathe...”
Ari releases a shaky breath. He takes a few more deep breaths before answering, his voice weak, tugging at Alex’s heart.
“M-my tail...”
Alex hurries to his side and looks around him.
“Oh, fuck...fuck, fuck, fuck...”
Ari’s slender tail, connected at his lower back, droops down and disappears into where the door meets the door frame. Trapped there. Undoubtedly crushed. Undoubtedly hurting.
“Oh, fuck, babe...”
“Quit saying fuck and get it out!” Arinn snaps. He immediately covers his reddened face with a hitched sound. “Sorry...sorry - I...it h-hurts.”
“I know...I know, babe.” A kiss is pressed to the side of Arinn’s head, reassurance that Alex isn’t angry. He crouches by the door.
“...wind blew it shut,” Arinn mumbles sullenly, lowering his hands. He tries in vain to hide a sniffle. Alex hears it, but spares his lover the further humiliation of pointing it out. He’s so good like that...he knows what Arinn needs, when he needs it.
Right now he just needs his tail out of the fucking door.
“Alright...here goes...”
Alex cups one hand under Arinn’s tail so it doesn’t fall. With his other hand he slowly twists the doorknob and eases the door open.
Arinn whines softly as his tail slips free into Alex’s gentle grip. He sways on his feet, groaning deeply at the rush of pain. “O-oh...”
“Easy...easy, I’ve got you.” Alex stands, still carefully holding Arinn’s tail so it doesn’t droop to the ground. He puts his other arm around his boyfriend’s shoulders. “Couch or bed?”
“Bed, please.” Arinn turns away, flushed with pain and embarrassment and unwilling to look at the damage to his poor tail.
His tail has always been a conflicting part of himself. A thing, like his horns, that separated him from humans. Emotive, curling when he’s happy and flicking when he’s angry and tucking between his legs when he’s frightened. Fragile and vulnerable, an easy target for those who would hurt him, something to be grabbed and yanked and stomped on.
But also...
Also soft and sensitive. So attuned to gentle touch, like when Alex strokes and kisses it as lovingly as the rest of him. Tingling at the feeling of warm fingers, sending ripples of pleasure up his spine...
Now the only things traveling up his spine are tremors with every painful throb of his injured tail. Try as he might, he can’t hold back the little pained sounds the feeling elicits as Alex guides him to the bedroom.
“Alright...on your stomach...”
It’s the sort of obvious statement Arinn would normally give a sarcastic retort, and it’s a testament to the pain he’s in that he doesn’t say a word as he crawls onto the mattress and flops face first into the pillow with a groan.
He feels Alex gently settle his tail down beside him. There’s a brief loss of contact that sends a chill across Arinn’s skin. Don’t leave me. He knows Alex won’t, but nonetheless his mind can’t help imagining being left to suffer.
A big warm hand cups the back of his neck, a thumb stroking at his pulse. “I’m going to get some things...” A pause, the hand not moving. “Arinn...can you say something? I’m worried...”
That makes Arinn huff out a laugh in spite of himself. Of course Alex is worried because he isn’t running his mouth for once.
“...your hand feels good,” he mumbles into the pillow. The comforting weight of it increases ever so slightly, the touch grounding him.
“Once you’re fixed up I’ll put my hands wherever you want,” Alex teases.
Arinn groans. “None of that. Not for a while,” he says miserably.
“I know. And it’s okay.” Alex kisses the top of his head and then disappears into the bathroom to dig through their medicine cabinet.
He returns with what must be half of its contents and spills them onto the other half of the bed. “I’m not really sure how to treat a tail,” he admits. “And I’m pretty sure you don’t want to go to a doctor.”
“Hell no,” Arinn says, turning his face to rest his cheek on the pillow so that he can look at Alex. When Alex sees his red-rimmed eyes his face softens. On anyone else it would be pity and Arinn would scoff at it, but from his Alex he knows it’s only that he feels everything so strongly, including his lover’s pain.
“It will heal on its own,” Arinn reassures him, and it’s true. He heals quicker than humans do, at least, when he has enough energy. And Alex’s constant affection is a more than sufficient energy source. “Just...something to keep it from moving until then. And something f-for the pain -” he draws in a sharp gasp as said pain hits him again.
“Yeah,” Alex says quickly. “Yeah, of course. Okay...”
He gently lifts the limp little tail and cradles it gently in his hands. Arinn closes his eyes and breathes, trusting him completely.
Alex makes a little sound of sympathy, his fingers moving almost imperceptibly over the bruised flesh. For someone who could probably bench press Arinn if he wanted to, he’s always so gentle with him. “It’s definitely broken.”
“Thought so...there was a - a crunch.” He feels Alex flinch at the words. Lips brush softly over the tender skin of his tail and he sighs.
After that, Alex works silently. He smooths some sort of balm onto the damaged tail for the bruising. He uses a ruler and bandages to fashion a splint for it, something Arinn will hate wearing every moment until it’s gone, but knows it’s necessary. Alex even gets a bag of frozen peas from the kitchen and lets the tail rest on it to ease the swelling.
Finally he begins to pop open a bottle of pain medicine, when Arinn stops him.
“Those won’t help.”
“No?”
“No. Demon, remember?”
Alex frowns, crestfallen, and sets the bottle aside. “What will help?”
“You.”
His head snaps up and Arinn meets his searching gaze. The love there is...intoxicating. Just the anticipation of Alex’s comfort makes him feel a little bit stronger.
He starts to climb into the bed and is stopped again. “Mm-mm. Shirt.”
Understanding crosses Alex’s face and in seconds his shirt is gone, revealing broad shoulders and a strong body with just enough softness to be wonderfully comfortable.
“Yours too?”
Arinn nods and doesn’t budge, letting Alex ease his shirt up over his head and toss it aside.
Alex pulls up the covers and slips under them beside him. Arinn carefully turns onto his side, managing not to jostle his tail, Alex’s hand on his hip to guide him.
“You do the rest,” he mumbles, feeling drowsy now that the shock and pain from earlier has dulled.
Alex obliges. He moves close, warm arms curling around Arinn’s body. Arinn rests his forehead against Alex’s neck and feels like he can really breathe for the first time all day.
There are no more words between them. None are necessary. Alex speaks his love in soothing strokes of hands down his back, kisses peppered over his hair, his legs tangling with Arinn’s. Solid and steady. Exactly what Arinn needs.
His affections are like a glass of water to a parched throat, sending a familiar warm energy coursing through Arinn’s veins. With Alex around he never has to hunger or thirst or want. He has everything he needs and more.
By the morning his tail will already be halfway healed, and Alex will dote on him and bring him food and kiss his horns and make him laugh. He’ll love him so hard, love his pain away, love his tail better, love his body stronger. And Arinn will love him back just as fiercely.
~The End~

What's cc ideal Christmas with y\n
Tumblr media
As Christmas songs played and the smell of freshly baked goods spread through the halls, seven boys were watching Namjoon's servants decorating the almost ten metres tall Christmas tree. "Couldn't you have afforded a better Christmas tree, Namjoon?" Seokjin eyed the tree with distaste while Namjoon clicked his tongue and threw him a glare. "We're not here to fight, guys." Hoseok pushed his glasses up with a smile, "We're here to celebrate with Y/n." The shortest boy, Jimin was now crossing his arms and pouting while staring across the white, golden front hall to the unnecessary tall front door. "When are they coming, I'm getting bored!" "Jimin," His best friend scolded him, "Don't rush Y/n. I'm sure they'll arrive any minute now."
As if summoned the door bell rang, leading all the boys to race to open the door. Namjoon finally opened the doors, revealing Y/n. "Y/n!" They all chimed in union as Y/n stepped inside closing the doors behind them. Their (lean, petite, plush, broad etc.) body shivered slightly from the cold. "Merry Christmas, guys!" All of them stormed and wrapped Y/n in their arms, a cosy group hug with their love in the centre. "I missed my boys too!" Was said by the personification of perfection as they let out that wonderful, cheery laugh they all desired to be surrounded by at all times.
"I even brought presents for you all!" Only now did they notice the bag they were carrying with them. The boys roared in excitement, confusion or shock. "Awe, Prince/Princess, that was so not necessary. I already have everything, well unless your gift is a rendevouz with just the two of us." The others groaned and complained in outrage. Such behaviour was unacceptable of their club member! "No way, if anyone takes them out it's me!" Jimin pulled them closer to him as he nuzzled himself into their shoulder. "The fuck!? No way you will!" The youngest, Jeongguk practically barked at Jimin who only started whining to Y/n. "Baby, Jeonggukie's being mean again!" To which the others all groaned, except for Yoongi who fiddled with his worn out sweater.
A few moments later they were sitting in Namjoon's room. Seeing how huge it was, way bigger than the run down apartment Yoongi shared with his mother, made the young boy feel self conscious. He could never give Y/n what the others could. Not only money wise, but he also didn't see himself as charismatic or handsome as the others. Y/n sensed that something was off. Their focus layed on the fragile boy while the others discussed whether white- or dark chocolate was better. "You okay, Yoongs?" Y/n asked him as he jumped slightly. He was about to respond but felt his dry throat. Not a single sound could he force out so he just nodded before looking away nervously. Y/n knew he would continue to deny any problem, so they ruffled his fluffy white- blonde hair and joined the conversation of the other boys. Meanwhile Yoongi was staring at them with hearts shining in his irises. Hoseok was the only one to have noticed that interaction between the two. He pretended to not have noticed the lovestruck gaze of his elder towards his best friend. Yet he still threw him a dangerous stare from the corner of his eye.
"Y/n! I heard of a really fun game, you wanna play with me?" The others threw Jimin a sceptical look. "If this is about the mistletoe again-" "No," the pink haired boy let out a huff, "I told you all, that was just a joke." "Joke my ass, you almost kissed Y/-" Jeongguk was interrupted, "Y/n! How about it, mhm?" "Depends." Y/n looked at the puppy eyed boy leaning towards them. "What game are you talking about?" His eyes lit up as he grabbed a Christmas tree shaped cookie decorated with green, red and yellow sugar cream and put one side between his teeth. "I'll show you, grab the other piece with your theeth but try not to break it." The elder (gender) shook their head at Jimin's "game". "Basically the poky game but with cookies?" Asked Hoseok confused. Namjoon leaned towards Hoseok. "What's 'the poky game'?" Meanwhile Y/n decided to play along. Slowly both nibbled their way along the cookie which was more difficult than expected. Jimin closed his eyes and waited for their lips to touch when Y/n "accidentally" bit their piece off. "Oops, looks like you won Jimin." The disappointed look only lasted for a secobd before his eyes lit up and he quickly devoured his part if the cookie. He hurried over to Taehyung and whispered to him. "Their lips touched my cookie piece!" "Really? How lucky! Was there a bit saliva on there?" To that jimin only smirked.
They decided to watch some Christmas movies before giving each other presents. As Y/n was emerged into the story of another busy businesswoman meeting a no risk no fun attitude yielding guy and fell in love with him over time, Taehyung couldn't tear his eyes away from them. Slowly his gaze met their lips, he couldn't stop thinking about what Jimin said earlier. To imagine getting to taste even a bit of their saliva was giving him pleasant chills. But he quickly tried to regain himself. How could he think about such a thing? He knew he had to stop, after all lust was a sin. He's not a sinner! But the mere thought of them pressing their lips unto his made him almost let out ungodly sounds.
"Joonie." Namjoon's head turned to his beloved. "Yes, dear?" "Thank you for inviting me. Tonight has been really fun!" That left Namjoon to smile softly, presenting his lovely dimples. "No need to thank me. Without you none of this would've been enjoyable." His statement had Y/n chuckle and squish his cheeks. "Stop being so sweet to me, you big teddy." As soon as their hands brushed his cheeks he felt his whole body stiffen and heat up. His eyes were filled with love and adoration. How could they make his poor heart beath even faster than it already did every time he's in their presence? But he only ended up shyly smiling and bashfully returning to the movie.
Soon the movies were turned off, instead the room was filled with Christmas songs. Currently they played Last Christmas while eating the cookies. A few of them, including Y/n, started singing along to the song and having a blast. Y/n dramatically sang along pointing to Hoseok, their best friend. He chuckled a bit then covered his mouth as they continued to act silly. Eventually he broke out into full on laughter. His body shook as Y/n continued to dramatically lipsinc to the Christmas song. Usually Hoseok despised those insufferable tunes, Christmas was only useful to sell more products. He couldn't understand how someone could get so excited over such a tacky, money wasting corporate holiday. But Y/n some how made it feel... alright, almost pleasant you could say. Hoseok just loves how silly they are.
The clock told them it was 0 o'clock, finally they would be able to unpack the present their beloved snowflake gifted them. Such honour to be blessed with. "Don't you have gifts for each other?" Y/n furrowed their brows in confusion, so adorable. "Sweetie," Seokjin laughed amused, "Why would I give those baboons anything-?" "What he mean was," Namjoon interrupted Seokjin while throwing him a glare, "we already exchanged them before the holidays. We didn't think we'd celebrate Christmas together this year." "Or ever..." Was muttered by Jeongguk who crossed his arms impatiently and rolled his eyes. "If you keep rolling your eyes like that they'll roll right out their sockets, Gukie~" Hoseok mocked the younger while chuckling along with Seokjin and Namjoon. "No they're not! Eyes don't do that..., right? Y/n that can't happen, right?!" The younger gradually became more panicked. He shoved Jimin aside ("Watch it you muscle pig-") and started grabbing onto Y/n for dear life, or so it felt. "Nothing will happen Jeongguk." They petted his back lightly, leaving Jeongguk to melt and smile a lovesick bunny smile.
The eldest eyed Jeongguk with disgust, how dare that filthy rat touch his Prince/Princess. He cleared his throat and pulled Y/n aside. "I have a special gift for you, love. And no it's not my heart, you already have it." He winked and laughed in his charmingly goofy manner at his cliché flirt attempt. The others glare at them, Jeongguk clenched his fist to the point of his knuckles turning white. But Seokjin didn't let it bother him. "I got you this, I hope you like it." His usually obnoxious and arrogant smile faded into a bashful one as he handed them a little box wrapped in light pink gift wrap. A sparkling white bow was graceful tied ontop making Y/n wonder if he had done it himself. They carefully untie the bow and ripped off the gift wrap revealing a black box. As they opened it, it revealed a beautiful necklace adorned with a brightly shimmering white diamond formed in to shape of a small heart. He helped you put it on, it was perfect. "Do you like it?" He asked with a slight concerned look in his eyes.
They would tare apart the entire universe, pluck star from star that rests within the realm of sight. Time is endless when with you, fear and despair unknown after a look into your shining eyes. No matter how cold it may be, you'll always make their souls burn with such fiery passion and obsession. You are the greatest gift they could've ever gotten.

Match up ^o^
May I request a Match up, please?
I’m at the part when I have to choose a route and I honestly don’t know/care. So I decided why not let some lovely internet stranger choose for me? Who do you think I would pair the best with?
I also noticed how much effort and detail you put into these so I decided that it was only fair to try to put in just as much effort in requesting. Or maybe I am just extremely vain so blabbering on this much about myself comes naturally (I also wouldn’t be too suprised if this were the case lol). Either way, I apologise for this getting so long. And without further ado, let’s learn about yours truly. Uh, yay?
I will start with my physical appearance because that’s easiest.
First of all, I am rather tall for a woman. Pair that with the fact that I constantly wear boots with 8 centimetre or greater heels and I almost always cap out somewhere above 182 centimetres (that’s 6 feet in American). So yes. I’m not exactly the approachable type, on the account of my height and near constant resting bitch face. I always look pissed off at something (and to be fair, I usually am).
I am a brunette with boring brown eyes. Nothing of note there.
I prefer to walk on my toes, for whatever reason. I also have great posture when I walk and these two factors always make it seem like I am floating. I’ve been told that I always seem very confident and self-assured. Which is complete bullshit because 90% of the time, I am winging it.
I am a dancer (of sorts. More on that later), so I am rather slim and toned. This is literally the only aspect of my physicality that I am actually confident in. The rest of me can burn in hell for all I care.
I am also very touch adverse. I hate the feeling of skin touching my skin it grosses me touch. However. There are a select few people in this world that I accept and enjoy hugs and cuddles from (and who I could snuggle with for hours). If I let anyone cuddle me that means I trust said person unconditionally and feel extremely comfortable around them. It’s essentially the ultimate statement of trust.
Onto personality.
If you can’t already tell, I have about as much dignity as a wet cat. I while I certainly do have an ego, it can be kind of difficult to bruise. Publically, I am absolutely shameless and don’t give two shits about what others think.
I have a tongue of steel and can rapid fire the most atrocious insults and comebacks when provoked. I’m known for my venomous sarcasm and biting wit among my own circles. I have a line for nearly every single situation so one-liners have become my thing. Which works out for me because I am a huge flirt.
I’ll flirt with pretty much anyone regardless of gender, I don’t give a crap. To clarify, it’s not because I am an attention whore (okay, yes. I am a complete attention whore), it’s because I am a theatre kid so excessive eye contact and sexual jokes are kinda where I thrive. I am also not afraid to get questionably lascivious with my flirting if someone tries to out-pace me. I never blush, I never falter, and I never let anyone know that they got the better of me. It shows weakness.
Despite my salacious façade, I am not inherently a sexual person. As a matter of fact, I am quite the opposite. I don’t experience sexual attraction (kudos to my asexual humans. I see you). This has rendered me practically immune to all charm, crushes, and sex appeal. It makes my life a lot easier, in my opinion. I don’t get too attached. I also enjoy messing around with the egos of fuck boys.
As mentioned earlier, I am an attention whore. I love showing off because I crave validation (this could point to some deep seated insecurities about myself that I refuse to acknowledge…. Ahem). Being on stage as where I thrive. And yes, I am a dancer, as I stated earlier. But I am not your conventional prissy ballerina. I am a circus performer. More specifically, I’m an aerialist. I have covered trapeze, contortion (I am unnaturally flexible), lyra, and silks. It’s a lot of fun almost dying every day and finding bruises in the most questionable places (if you cant already tell, I am an adrenaline junkie. I took karate for the first dozen or so years of my life and have recently been searching for more weapons combat classes because apparently I don’t have enough bruises already).
I am not easily impressed. And I don’t give out compliments very often. And that includes myself. I can be unnecessarily hard on myself at times… most of the time. But then again, who isn’t?
As for the side of me that isn’t stark-raving mad, I am usually a pretty objective person. While I have no qualms with discussing emotions (both mine and friend’s. I am a great listener and actually give pretty good advice when it comes to dealing with intense emotions). I tend to avoid letting them interfere with my logic. I look down on those who allow their emotions to dictate their actions. It makes them needlessly reckless.
I am typically a pretty chill person. When I am among people I am unfamiliar with, I tend to stay quiet and try not to rock the boat too much (again, I won’t hesitate to unleash a severe tongue lashing upon any poor soul who happens to rub me the wrong way… Or just happens to exist. I don’t take shit from other people and I hate it when others try to control me. (I don’t play rough, I play smart).
I really enjoy reading, writing, or drawing quietly. I can’t stand loud and excessive noises or people (parties, screaming, concerts). I am a true extroverted introvert. I love being the center of attention and chatting, but I need my alone time. People are exhausting to deal with.
Because of my aversion to loud sounds, I tend to avoid typical dance parties like the plague. While I am very good with mingling and partying in general, I can only keep it up in short bursts before I have to retreat somewhere quiet. This is also the reason I greatly prefer the nighttime (if I had a choice I would sleep all day and only frolick around at night. I just love the dark. It’s comforting in a weird way). I also love the night because that’s when I get to sleep and just peace out on life. It’s kinda like non-committal dying.
I am near constantly on hyper-alert so I am not easily startled. When I do get startled, I have a tendency to squeak, yelp or growl. These noses are purely reactionary sounds but for whatever reason, my friends think that they are absolutely adorable and will go to great lengths to startle me just to hear me make them.
To counteract my friend’s malevolence, I have learnt to be super observant, especially when I feel threatened. Usually, I am caught up on my own world and thoughts. I have an imagination so powerful that I can trick my brain into feeling false sensations such as an extra limb or falling. I much prefer to spend my time in my head rather than our boring reality. But if I feel threatened, or think that another attack is imminent, I instantly become hyper aware. These moments of lucidity enable me to make certain observations others would otherwise be overlooked (for example. I was able to tell when my professor lost her wedding ring due to the discoloration around her ring finger and the habitual and near-constant worrying she did at it. I offered to help her look after class ^.^. I admittedly felt kinda smug when I saw her surprise.) Ironically enough, I like to refer to this mode of thinking as “Sherlocking”. I can be quite the detective when I really try. 9 out of 10 times my friends will come to me when they suspect infidelity, I am pretty good at digging up dirt.
However, I have to make the conscious decision to do this, usually when I am trying to figure someone out or manipulate them into liking me. So this isn’t constant and usually I go about my day like everyone else, blissfully unaware of my surroundings.
Uhh, there is probably more I could cover but this is getting very long as-is and you are probably forcing yourself to get through my seemingly eternal ramblings. So I am going to stop here and go grab myself some food.
Best of luck to you,
-November
Hi there love!<3 you sound like such a cool interesting person! ^_^ Hehehe I probs took so long with this match up that you already chose a new route lol! Anyways thanx for waiting soooooo long for this and I hope ya enjoy it love ^0^ ^_^
I match you with……………………… Masamune
Tumblr media
Honestly, it was between Masamune and Mitsuhide for me lol but i eventually decided to go with Masamune
The first time Masamune sees you, his eyes go wide in awe, like wow you are one tall fine lady! He has legit never met anyone so tall. After you were named as chatelaine, you stayed behind with some of the warlords to chat and get to know them better, you are after all going to be seeing their faces every day for the next 3 months.
Right of the bat, Masamune is howling in laughter at the fact that you are way taller than Ieyasu. You, Masamune and Mitsuhide basically tease the poor porcupine for a solid 20 minutes. “My my I never expected such a scary-looking little mouse to be so bubbly and friendly.”
Oooh, this boy just stared a war of wits. Today day was a good day cause your tongue of steel was rapidly firing witty words and sarcastic remarks at the resident kitsune. He almost couldn’t keep up, almost. Masamune was just standing there watching the whole scene unfold, you truly were going to be a lot of fun! Masamune decided to test out that tongue of steel of your and started firing some flirty pick-up line, while unbeknown to him you are the queen of one-liners, and have no shame when it comes lascivious flirting. Masamune, of course, never backs down from a challenge, and he was determined to make you blush. The conversation got so heated that it made even Hideyoshi blush on your behalf. You simply laughed and fired another one of your pick-up lines.
After the little chat in the hallway and a massive speech from mama bear for talking about things that were not PG13, cause of the kids *cough* Mitsunari *cough*, you and Masamune become quick friends. He had never met a woman before that was immune to his boyish wild charm, and handsome sexual appeal. Masamune was definitely popular with the woman, not as popular as Hideyoshi, but he was definitely a fuckboi. As surprised as he was, that his normal antics didn't work on you, his ego wasn’t dented one bit, it just made him more determined to get to know you.
Masamune definitely finds your flirtatious nature attractive, especially when you managed to score the two of you free sweet bun just by flirting with the shop owner, he was, even more, shook when the shop owner was a woman, your flirtation truly knows no bounds. The two of you would spend loads of time together, just going out for tea and sweets while getting to know each other. TBH although Masamune would never admit it, he found it refreshing that you weren't just his friend simply cause he was hot or cause you wanted to climb in stations but because you actually liked him as a person. You and Masamune definitely made an unstoppable team when it came to banquets. The two of you would team up and start teasing everyone there. When you two cuties are together its always a good time with loads of laughter and banter
Masamune discovered that you like him, was an adrenaline junkie. He loved that he finally had someone around that would do stupid shit with him just for the thrill of it. The two of you would go out on adventures 24/7 jumping down waterfalls and hiking up cliffs. The two of you goofball would also dare each other to do the craziest shit. Like one-time Masamune dared you to jump off the castle’s roof onto your balcony, and you freaken did it, no questions asked. Or like the one time you dared him to put his head in Shogetsu mouth, mind you the little cub was now grown into a full-blown tiger
One day you and Masa went to go watch one of Mitsuhide’s undercover performances. The three of you were investigating a shady daimyo in one of the nearby provinces. The three of you disguised yourselves as performers and joined a circus troop as their new dancers. You were so excited, the stage is where you truly come alive. You had promised Masa to show him something that would shock/surprise him after he gave you the grand tour of  Azuchi. Today was the day, you had kept your dance and performances a secret from the two men, and now it was finally time to show them what you can do. You had 3 different performances planned. The first one was contortion. To say Masamune was shook would be an understatement he never knew anyone could be so freaken flexible, like wow. Your next performance was aerial dancing, his blue eye gleamed in delight, watching you move through the air so gracefully. If he wasn’t sure before he was sure now, this boy loved ya. But what really took his breath away was when you trapezed through the air, he was absolutely mesmerized at the way you flew through the air doing back-flips and other cool ass tricks. Masamune loved the look of pure joy on your face as you performed and after the show, you explained to him that you were a theatre kid back in the past. Mitsuhide definitely took note of your skills, and since that day you now accompanied him on most missions that required him to disguise himself as a performer.
Masamune loved everything about you at this point. Your overdramatic introvert/extrovert personality. The way you walked. Gosh, he loved the way you walked, it looked like you were an angel floating around wherever you went. He loved your banter and one-liner for every situation. And most of all he loved your hyper-alert side. Boy did he love to come up behind you to scare the crap outta you just so he could hear you squeak, yelp or growl. Like he lived for those adorably cute noises. And you somewhere along the line had fallen in love with the big idiot. He was always coming up with new fun adventures to go on or new fun things to do. He was one of those few people that could actually keep up with your banter
What was he most impressed with you may ask, well you Sherlocking skills of course. One day there were rumours of some super shady daimyos visiting Azuchi. Word on the street was that they were planning on stealing Mitsunari report to make the poor angel look bad. Mitsuhide was away sorting out some other plots and schemes, so it was now up to you to use your skills, to save the angel. You used your detective skill to gather evidence, and since your inner circle knew you were from the future, you were planning on catching them in the act and filming them for evidence. Masamune was always up for an adventure, so he acted as you own personal Watson. The two of you hid while watching the whole scene unfold, once they left the room the two of you came out. “What do you think they are going to do with the report lass,” he asked while his blue eye gleamed in delight. “Hmmmmm, I believe they are going to burn the evidence in the forest” you replied in your best British accent. Masamune couldn’t help but laugh. The two of you made your way to a secluded part of the forest and spotted them making a fire. Masamune looked at you curiously “How did you know they were going to be in this exact spot.” “Elementary, my dear Masamune.” He couldn’t help but burst out in laughter you really were a super fun kitten. Unfortunately for the two of you, they heard you guys laughing behind the trees and before you knew it, the two of you were surrounded. One of the men had a sword right at your throat ready to cut you open, that is when you shocked them by not backing down from the fight, you hit the sword away with one of your own gifted to you by your dearest one-eyed dragon. “ Point that sword at me one more time and i’ll slash your Achilles’ tendons, and TBH given the medicine situation of this time, no one would know how to fix your injury, so I hope you like hobbling around on one leg for the rest of your life cause that is what will happen.” These men were shook; meanwhile, Masa was next to you howling in laughter, “She’s not joking boys, this lass delivers on her threats.” You had never seen grown men run away from a fight so fast. You and Masamune picked up Mitsunari’s report that had fallen on the ground during the commotion and walked back hand in hand
You didn’t really like skin touching skin, but TBH you definitely like the warm feeling of Masamune’s hand warmed around yours. The two of you had come to fall in love with each other, and it wasn’t long before you two cuties entered into a relationship. Despite both of you being adrenaline junkies, both of you also loved your quiet times. Often you would sit together in his manor each doing your own thing. You would read and write, and Masamune would sit at his desk pretending to work (Cause admin is so freaken boring).
The two of you would have the best time together during banquets you loved being the centre of attention and would chat with everyone, but as the night would progress you would start feeling a bit drained and that’s when the one-eyed dragon would swoop in, pick you up and takes you to a quiet corner where the two of you cuddle and snuggle together.
He would spoil you rotten with the most amazing food, he would basically, cook anything your heart desires just to see that beautiful smile on your face. His heart would always burst with affection whenever he cuddles and kiss you, he knew that the fact that you allowed him to cuddle you was the ultimate statement of trust between the two of you.
Often the two of you cuties can be found causing mischief and giving Mamayoshi more grey hairs or cuddled together sharing stories of your day
Other potential matches............... Mitsuhide
Hope u enjoyed it dear @november-solarstorms

Yongguk - Dangerously Innocent ♥ [Part 8]
Tumblr media
Member: B.A.P’s Bang Yongguk
Pairing: MafiaLeader!Yongguk &  You
Genre: THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS FLUUUUUUUUFFF
Warnings: Swearing, Blood, Shooting and other Mafia stuff.
Words: 2,265
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13, Part 14, Epilogue.
You wake up later, disoriented and unsure of how late it is.  The spot next to you is empty and cold, which means that Yongguk must have left long ago. This doesn’t make you anxious however, as he probably has a lot to take care of after tonight’s incident. You stand up and crawl out of his bed, carefully walking over to the curtains, pulling them open to reveal a beautiful, blue sky that is free of clouds. Your face scrunches because of the bright sun and you immediately flinch when your cheek hurts. “Outch.” The whimper escapes you without your permission and you right hand rises to cover the painful bruise. “This is going to take forever to get back to normal.” That is the first thing that goes through your head as you make your way over to the en-suite bathroom to check yourself out in the mirror.
Your cheek is blue and it almost hurts to look at it. Your neck, however, has it worse, as the handprint is clearly visible on it. “Yongguk will go crazy.” You whisper and as if he heard you say his name, you hear him open the door to his room. “Y/N?”  Shivers run down your spine, whenever his dark voice calls out for you. “Bathroom!” you call out and realize that you are only wearing your lace underwear. “You know that I love this view, but it would probably be better if you would wear something when you’re in my room. The others tend to come in without knocking and it would be a shame if I would have to hurt them because they saw you naked. .”He casually walks over to you and kisses the unbruised cheek. “This will take some time.” He mumbles as he rests his palm flat against the other cheek. “I know. It hurts when I talk or smile.” His forehead wrinkles and his hand moves down to your neck. “This one looks worse than it is.” You assure him and remove his hand from your skin, only to press a kiss to his knuckles. “Don’t be mad. I’ll be back to my old, unbruised me in a week or so. Until then you’ll have to be gentle with me. .” He shows his adorable gummy smile and kisses your lips softly. “I will-. .  Well I’ll try.”  He says, smiling. “Do you know anything about the . . .  man from last night?” Your voice is low and all the sweetness in his face is replaced with coldness. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of this. . Situation. ” His voice is deadly and a chill runs down your spine, making you shiver beneath his fingers. He notices and wipes the expression off his face. “You should get dressed. I’ll get breakfast and then we’ll have Himchan check out your bruises. I want to be sure that there isn’t any more damage that we might be unable to see.” His eyes are fixed onto the bruise on your neck and you place your hand onto his chest. “I know a lot of other things I’d like to do now instead of eating breakfast.” He clears his throat and steps backwards, clearly aware of what you mean by this statement.  “I-Um.”  He coughs and adjusts himself.  “Fuck. Not now, okay. Not while you have a bruise on your neck and cheek.” It is visible, that this is hard for him to say. “When you’re better Y/N. I swear. I just. . I don’t want to hurt you even more. And it is hard for me to control myself around you sometimes. Control my emotion.” His confession catches you off guard and you look up in surprise, your hand drops from his chest to your side and you are speechless. “I. I know this is a lot. Maybe too much even. And I know that I am too much sometimes. But. . . Whenever I think about you leaving me – and believe me that thought crosses my mind more often than you think – I feel so lost. So please just. . help me figure this out. Please help me become better at this.” You stare at the man in front of you, speechless after what he just said. “Yongguk. . .” he clears his throat once more and steps back. “I’ll go get breakfast.” Seconds later you hear the door to the room close. “Help me become better at this.” You mumble to yourself as you realize that this is probably the first time Yongguk is faced with this situation. That he has never fallen in love before. That he might not even know what real love is, since he grew up in a world that doesn’t allow love. Where someone you love is a weakness and needs to be avoided at any cost. Your heart hurts for the small Yongguk that had to grow up surrounded by death and loss. The young boy with the full hair and the bright smile that never had a normal live and couldn’t play outside like others. You walk over to his closet and choose a black sweater that reaches your mid thigh. You can’t imagine him wearing something like this. You realize that you can’t imagine him wearing comfortable clothes all day, staying in bed with you. You can’t see yourself going out for dinner with him. But you can see yourself with him in your future. And that picture is what you’re going to hold on to. .
Yongguk’s POV
I leave the room quickly, trying to collect my thoughts. This has never happened before. I told her everything. And I showed her how lost I am. I think this is what falling in love feels like. I’ve never felt something like this before in my life. My parents always warned me, that I must not fall in love under any circumstances.  That the person I’d fall in love with would immediately become a target for our enemies. I forgot how many times they kidnapped my mother in order to get to my father. Now that my father is dead I made her move to another country. She has bodyguards with her all the time and I know that this is what I need to do with Y/N. The bodyguards at least. I hope that the situation will cool down in the very near future since I’d hate to have her leave the country without me by her side. And I am more than 100% sure that she will hate it even more. I hurry down the corridors and walk over to the kitchen. The kitchen staff looks at me in shock since they usually don’t see me. I always send someone to inform them on what I’ll be having for dinner. “M – Mr. Bang. It is an honor to have you here. How can I help you?”The chef – a small, overweight, but clean cut man – looks at me nervously. “I would like something for breakfast. Pancakes should be good, right? For two people. ” I have never thought of what people usually choose. I’ve been skipping breakfast for most of my life due to the busy schedule. “Pancakes are good.” The chef informs me and immediately starts rummaging through the ingredients. “And fruit?” I add. I can see Y/N liking fruit. “Yes sir.”The chef says. “I don’t want to ask personal questions, sir, but I’d like to know if this is for the young lady that is staying here.” He looks at me knowingly and I know that this is none of his business, but the idea of talking to someone who knows more about the topic than any of the others sounds good. “Do you have family?” I ask in return and he immediately becomes nervous, making me realize that this could sound like a threat. “Yes sir. A wife and two daughters.” Children. I never thought about having children. “How do you know that you love someone?” My questions make it obvious to him what I feel for Y/N and I see him smile knowingly. He continues to prepare breakfast, not once looking at me.  “You can only think about that person. They are on your mind 24/7. You even dream of them. You want to be with them all the time. Want to keep them save. Only the idea of them loving someone else or getting hurt makes your heart speed up in panic.” His words make me realize that I really am in love with Y/N. “How can I make that person. . . Love me?”  There has to be a way to make Y/N love me back. “There is no certain way that makes a person fall in love with someone else. Treat them with respect and hope for the best.” The chef says and places a huge plate with pancakes and fresh fruit in front of me. I look at him and nod. In the blink of an eye I go back to the cold, professional me. The one Y/N seems to be scared of. When we talked about the intruder earlier I turned this way out of reflex. I didn’t want her to see how intensely this affects me. And in response I felt her shiver beneath my fingers. Not in the way a person does when they are cold, but in a way I´ve seen more often in my life than I dare to admit. She was scared of me.  I shake my head to get rid of that thought and return to my room with the plate in my hands. The guards in front of my room open the door for me and I almost drop the plate when I see her sitting on my bed in one of my old, comfortable sweaters. I don’t know if she realizes that it is one of the few things left from when I actually went to school. My name, along with the number 0 – My lucky number – is printed onto the back. The possessive side of me bangs its chest and looks at her with pride. She looks insanely beautiful in it and it drives me crazy. “Y/N. Breakfast.”I say softly and she jumps and looks over. “I didn’t even hear you come in. . .” she says thoughtfully and stands up from the bed. The sweater reaches her mid thigh and I want to lock her up to keep her from the prying gazes of the others. I’ve heard the guards talk about how “hot” she is and I have to admit that they are right, but the thought of her with anyone but me drives me crazy. She walks over to me on naked feet and takes the plate from me and her eyes light up when she sees the pancakes. “I love pancakes!” She says and walks over to my desk with the plate, seemingly forgetting that I am in the room with her. I’ve noticed that she seems to love food a lot and I make a mental note that I should take her out for dinner as soon as everything has calmed down. “You have to try the pancakes! They are to die for!” She exclaims as she walks over to me with a piece of pancake on a fork. “To die for?” I echo and she nods, making the sort of “Ahhhhhh” sound you usually do when you feed a child. The thought of children crosses my mind. Again. I open my mouth and try them.  “They are pretty good.” I agree, “But I know something better. . .”I lean in to kiss her and she squeals. “You’re so cheesy!” she says and runs – limps – away from me while giggling. I limp after her and catch her around her waist a few seconds later. “Only with you” I whisper into her ear as she cuddles up to me. “I hope so! Otherwise I’ll be angry.” She says, blowing up her cheeks. “And we don`t want that, right?” I growl into her ear and carry her over to the desk, setting her onto it to step between her legs and feed the pancake and fruit to her. When all the food is gone I kiss her cheek. “I need to go to a meeting now. Please be good, okay? No leaving without a bodyguard. To be honest I’d prefer it if you’d stay in here for today. At least as for long as I`m not with you. If you need me please just inform the guards outside. I will be there immediately. I’ll send Himchan over to look at your bruises once more.”She nods and presses a soft kiss to the corner of my lips, making them curve up slightly.”Thank you” I say and take a step back to take a last look at the beautiful human being in front of me.  In a weird and twisted way I will always owe something to that motherfucker that pulled her into this. “See you later. . .” she whispers, a barely noticeable smile on her lips. I burn that image into my memory and pray that those meetings will be over quickly and that everything will go smoothly. The door clicks shut behind me and I make my way over to my office. If I had known what would happen just a few months later, I would have stayed with her. Wouldn’t have left her alone. Would have kissed her once more. I would have done everything differently. But unfortunately you can’t turn back time and fix everything. You just have to try to figure it out yourself.

Atlanta mayor announces series of police reforms: Live updates | News
The United Nations’s top human rights body agreed to a request from African countries to urgently debate racism and police brutality on Wednesday following unrest in the US and beyond over George Floyd’s death.
The killing of Rayshard Brooks by Atlanta police on June 13 reignited a push for protest in the city. Atlanta initially saw heavy protests after the death of George Floyd, prompting calls from public officials and celebrities for peaceful demonstrations.
Floyd, a Black man, died on May 25 after a policeman knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. His death sparked calls across the US for policing reforms and triggered global protests.
Here are the latest updates:
Tuesday, June 16
05:25 GMT – New York police officers sickened after drinking tainted milkshake
At least three police officers from New York fell ill and were hospitalised after dining at a popular restaurant chain in Lower Mahnattan, according to a news report.
The three officers reportedly found substance, “believed to be some sort of cleaning solution or disinfectant” mixed in their milkshake drink, NBC News reported.
“When New York City police officers cannot even take (a) meal without coming under attack, it is clear the environment in which we work has deteriorated to a critical level,” a statement from a police union said.
04:45 GMT – Black Lives Matter banner removed from US embassy in S Korea

A large Black Lives Matter banner has been removed from the US Embassy building in South Korea’s capital three days after it was raised there in solidarity with protesters back home.
The banner was put up Saturday, with Ambassador Harry Harris tweeting that his embassy “stands in solidarity with fellow Americans grieving and peacefully protesting to demand positive change.”
But the banner was removed Monday and another banner commemorating the Korean War was on display on Tuesday.
The embassy said the banner’s removal was meant to avoid any misperception that it aimed to encourage donations for certain unspecified organisations.
Harris “wanted to highlight the enduring American values of racial equality, freedom of speech, and the right to peacefully protest,” the US Embassy said in a statement.
“However, the Ambassador’s intent was not to support or encourage donations to any specific organisation. To avoid the misperception that American taxpayer dollars were spent to benefit such organisations, he directed that the banner be removed.”
03:28 GMT – Australia to probe arrest of Aboriginal man
An Aboriginal man, whose violent arrest by South Australian Police, was caught on video, has been released from custody with all charges dropped, reports said, as police launched an investigation on the incident.
Henry Noel, 28, has been released from the Port Adelaide Police Station, after a social media video appeared to show an officer striking him several times during an arrest on Monday night.
A person familiar with the case told NITV that Noel had “really bad injuries to his face, his arms, his legs.”

03:05 GMT – Trump to sign order creating police database
A senior administration official says an executive order that President Donald Trump is expected to sign on Tuesday would set up a database for tracking police officers who have complaints about excessive use of force in their records.
The official says the administration wants to keep officers with complaints in their record from moving from one police department to the next.
The president’s executive order comes as lawmakers work quickly in response to outrage over the death of George Floyd. Senate Republicans are also poised to unveil an extensive package of policing changes.
02:45 GMT – New York City to disband plainclothes anti-crime units
New York City’s police department is disbanding the type of plainclothes anti-crime units that were involved in the 2014 death of Eric Garner and have long been criticized for aggressive tactics, Commissioner Dermot Shea announced.
The NYPD’s anti-crime units, which focused primarily on seizing illegal guns, were responsible for a disproportionate number of shootings and complaints, Shea told reporters after meeting with top deputies to discuss the move.
Garner died when an officer enforcing a ban on the sale of loose cigarettes used a chokehold to wrestle him to the ground.
About 600 officers working in the unit will be given new assignments.
02:21 GMT – Seattle City Council votes to bar tear gas, pepper spray
The Seattle City Council has voted unanimously to bar police from using tear gas, pepper spray and several other crowd control devices after officers repeatedly used them on mostly peaceful demonstrators protesting racism and police brutality.
The 9-0 vote came amid frustration with the Seattle Police Department, which used tear gas to disperse protesters in the city’s densest neighborhood, Capitol Hill, just days after Mayor Jenny Durkan and Chief Carmen Best promised not to.
A federal judge on Friday issued a temporary order banning Seattle police from using tear gas, pepper spray, foam-tipped projectiles or other force against protesters, finding that the department had used less-lethal weapons “disproportionately and without provocation,” chilling free speech in the process.
01:54 GMT – Feds to review cases into hanging deaths of 2 Black men
Federal authorities will review local investigations into the hanging deaths of two Black men in southern California to determine whether federal law was violated, The Associated Press news agency reported quoting officials.
Local authorities have said there is no evidence of foul play in the deaths of Robert Fuller in Palmdale and Malcolm Harsch in Victorville and early indications point both to suicide, but sheriffs have pledged to continue to investigate the cases.
The announcement follows weekend protests, which were prompted by the initial determination of suicide as the likely cause of death for Fuller.
People who participated in a town hall hosted by Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva on Monday also voiced concerns that Fuller and Harsch may have been lynched. The callers denounced what they described as a rush to judgment and urged investigators to look into the possibility that hate crimes were committed.
01:14 GMT – Family of Rayshard Brooks demands criminal justice reform
Pleading through tears Monday, the family of a Black man killed by Atlanta police outside a drive-thru demanded changes in the criminal justice system and called on protesters to refrain from violence amid heightened tensions across the US three weeks after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis.
An autopsy found that 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was shot twice in the back late Friday by a white officer who was trying to arrest him at a fast-food restaurant for being intoxicated behind the wheel of his car. Brooks tried to flee after wrestling with officers and grabbing a stun gun from one of them.
“Not only are we hurt, we are angry,” said Chassidy Evans, Brooks’ niece. “When does it stop? We’re not only pleading for justice. We’re pleading for change.”

20:50 GMT – Second man charged in death of retired St Louis police captain
A second man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of retired St Louis police Captain David Dorn during a pawn shop break-in that followed a night of violent protests.
Dorn’s death on June 2 came on a violent night in St Louis, where four officers were shot, officers were pelted with rocks and fireworks, and dozens of businesses were damaged.
A man named Mark Jackson was charged with second-degree murder, robbery, burglary, stealing and three counts of armed criminal action.
Stephan Cannon was earlier charged with first-degree murder, robbery and other crimes. Both men are jailed without bond.
20:45 GMT – Activists create petition calling for justice for Rayshard Brooks
Activists created an online petition demanding justice for Rayshard Brooks. The petition has gathered over 52,000 signatures.
20:00 GMT – Atlanta mayor announces series of police reforms
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms announced immediate reforms within the police department, including orders requiring police officers to de-escalate situations and imposing a duty to intervene when officers see another officer using excessive force.
Bottoms said that when she saw the death of Rayshard Brooks, she said she could not wait for an advisory council to come up with recommendations to reform the police.
“It was clear that we do not have another day, another minute, another hour, to waste,” she said.
She said the police must find a better way to handle confrontations, and said she is heartbroken over Brooks’ death.
“It pissed me off, it makes me sad, it makes me frustrated, and there’s nothing I can say that will change what happened Friday.”
19:39 GMT – New Jersey police ordered to release names of disciplined officers
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S Grewal issued an order requiring all law enforcement agencies in the state to begin publicly listing officers who commit serious disciplinary violations.
The order mandates “every state, county, and local law enforcement agency in New Jersey” to annually publish a list of officers “who were fired, demoted, or suspended for more than five days due to a disciplinary violation, with the first list to be published no later than December 31, 2020”, according to a release issued the attorney general’s office.
“Today, we end the practice of protecting the few to the detriment of the many. Today, we recommit ourselves to building a culture of transparency and accountability in law enforcement”, Grewal said in the release.
The order is meant to build public trust, according to Colonel Patrick J Callahan, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police.
“By releasing the names of State Troopers who committed serious disciplinary violations, we are continuing the long, hard work of earning and maintaining the trust of the communities we serve”, Callahan said.
17:28 GMT – Demonstration reaches Atlanta capital building, mayor says use of force needs review
The “March on Georgia”, organised by the state’s NAACP, reached the capital building in Atlanta on Monday. Demonstrators delivered a list of demands to the state legislature.
These demands included ending Citizen’s Arrest and Stand Your Ground laws, among other measures regarding voter disenfranchisement, which are “necessary to end systemic racism in the criminal justice system and voter suppression in Georgia”, the organisation said in a release.

The march came as Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms she would issue a series of administrative orders to accelerate a review of policing in the wake of the police shooting of Rayshard Brooks.
Bottoms, speaking at a city council meeting, said it was “abundantly clear” there was a “comprehensive need” to take a look at the police department’s use of force and the training of police officers.
16:08 GMT – Black Lives Matter banner in Seoul removed after Trump complaints
A large “Black Lives Matter” banner draped on the outside of the US embassy in Seoul was removed on Monday after President Donald Trump expressed his displeasure about it, two people familiar with the matter told the Reuters News Agency.
The banner was hung on the front of the mission building on Saturday as the embassy tweeted a message in support of the anti-racism campaign across the US and worldwide in response to the killing last month of Floyd.
The banner was seen as a rare show of open support for the Black Lives Matter movement by a Trump appointee, Ambassador Harry Harris.
Embassy spokesman William Coleman reiterated that Harris’s reason for putting it up was “to communicate a message of solidarity with Americans concerned with racism”.
Bloomberg News reported earlier that both Trump and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo were displeased about the banner.

15:48 GMT – Family of Rayshard Brooks calls for reforms, ‘justice’
During a news conference on the killing of Rayshard Brooks, his family called for “drastic change” in the Atlanta Police Department.
“The trust that we have with the police force is broken,” Tiara Brooks, Rayshard’s cousin, said at the news conference.
“True justice will never prevail” because Rayshard will not come back, Tiara said, calling for demonstrations to continue in order to make sure another case like his will not occur.
Lawyer L Chris Stewart, who is representing the Brooks family, questioned whether there was an acceptable definition of justice. He presented what he said were photos of vehicles that had been shot by police during the fatal incident. “It should never have happened,” Stewart said.

Rayshard’s widow, Tomika Miller, said she wanted to thank everyone for their protests and support.
Miller called on protests to remain peaceful, as the family wants to “keep his name positive and great”.
The news conference ended suddenly as one of Brooks’s cousins broke down at the mention of his funeral. The man departed in tears, saying: “I want y’all to know, you took my cousin from me … you took the wrong person,” presumably speaking to the Atlanta police.
14:03 GMT – Supreme Court will not consider ‘qualified immunity’ case
The US Supreme Court declined to hear a number of cases involving a legal defence called qualified immunity that can be used to shield government officials from lawsuits including police officers accused of excessive force.
The justices rejecting appeals in cases that had been pending before the court for months involving qualified immunity including a dispute over whether officers in Tennessee can be sued for using a dog on a man who says he had surrendered.
The decision to reject the cases comes as a national spotlight is once again trained on the police’s use of force after the death of George Floyd, a Black man in Minneapolis who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Democrats and Republicans in Washington have been pulling together their own versions of police reform legislation.
12:45 – Alabama to place removed Confederate statue in a museum
A Confederate statue removed from Alabama’s port city earlier this month has been relocated to a museum, the city’s mayor said.
The History Museum of Mobile has received the bronze likeness of Admiral Raphael Semmes, which stood in the middle of a downtown street near the Mobile waterfront for 120 years until June 5, and “will develop a plan to protect, preserve and display” the statue and “place it into the appropriate historic context”, the city’s mayor, Sandy Stimpson, said on Sunday in multiple Twitter posts.
The decision involved input from city council members and “involved conversations with the Alabama Attorney General’s Office”, Stimpson said on Twitter.

 John Bowles (@JPBowles) June 5, 2020
Attorney General Steve Marshall had sent a letter to the mayor after the statue’s removal saying the city could be subject to a $25,000 fine for permanently moving the statue, an action that would violate a state law protecting monuments more than 40 years old, AL.com reported.
The statue was dedicated in 1900, the year before Alabama ratified a Constitution that established white supremacy in the state by essentially disenfranchising Black people and poor white people.
12:35 GMT – British PM praises Black Lives Matter demonstrator who carried suspected far-right protester from danger
The instincts of the Black Lives Matter protester who emerged from chaotic scenes in London carrying an injured white man, suspected of being a far-right demonstrator, during scuffles with counterprotesters on Saturday represented the best of us, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman said.
Patrick Hutchinson has been hailed a hero for carrying the injured man over his shoulder, an image that has gone viral on social media after it was taken by a Reuters photographer.
“Patrick Hutchinson’s instincts at that moment represent the best of us,” the spokesman told reporters.
10:40 GMT – Black Americans disproportionately die in police Taser confrontations: Reuters
As police confront protesters across the US, they are turning to rubber bullets, pepper spray, tear gas and other weapons meant to minimise deaths.
But some are using a weapon that has the potential to kill: The Taser. When those encounters have turned fatal, Black people make up a disproportionate share of those who die, according to a Reuters analysis.

Reuters documented 1,081 cases through the end of 2018 in which people died after being shocked by police with a Taser. At least 32 percent of those who died were Black, and at least 29 percent were white. African Americans make up 14 percent of the US population, and non-Hispanic whites 60 percent
09:22 GMT – UN rights council agrees to debate on racism, police violence
The United Nations’s top human rights body will hold an urgent debate on allegations of “systemic racism, police brutality and violence against peaceful protests” in the US on Wednesday, a statement said.
The decision by the UN Human Rights Co un cil followed a request last week by Burkina Faso on behalf of African countries, it said in a statement on Monday.
“The death of George Floyd is unfortunately not an isolated incident,” the letter said.
#HRC43 has opened & starts w/ GD on item 5. It was decided that an urgent debate on the current racially inspired #HumanRights violations, systematic #racism, #PoliceBrutality & violence against peaceful protests to take place Wednesday, 17 June at 3 p.m. https://t.co/wUEEG9n2Bg pic.twitter.com/8SYNTgRThD

Lineup Lamentations - DGW24
Our Transfers, Captains, and Starting 11s for the week!
WALSH
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Vardy, Pereira, Dendoncker
IN (for -4 points hit): Haller, Gomez, Mahrez
Time to move it around and shake it up.
***Disclaimer though - I only did the defense move as of the time of this writing. I want to see if there is any news when I wake up but if not these will be my moves.***
After spending the rest of Sunday bugging out, broadly speaking, about what to do with Periera I decided after further consultation to just get Joemez. The money seemed like it was needed elsewhere and ultimately I didn't feel that the 1.2m was best spent in looking for VVD goals. As shouted on the pod..cheapest route into the clean has always generally a good rule of thumb to follow. After that is where my brain melted.
Obviously I was extremely hot in the pants for Mahrez...and I did the Joemez with half a mind to do Tony M to Mahrez the following day. Then I realized that there were so many more doors before my very eyes!
My 11th starter has been really problematic for quite a while...mainly since I brought Kun in and have all these cheap fucks at the edge of my squad. I will be on suicide watch when Vardz bangs against Wet Spam but ultimately he felt like someone I could do without given their difficult incoming fixtures. Turning him and a dead spot on my team into two real things feels very solid for the immediate term and will let me bench defenders with questionable fixtures who I otherwise would have had to start.
Haller is really just a Dings placeholder...and feels very fun in this moment. Didn't really look at him until Monday but he's low key been putting up good underlying stats recently. Sure the DGW are rough on paper fixtures but who knows....I want to feel alive. I owned him earlier in the season and I don't really remember it being that bad? Or it was so bad that I blacked it out of my memory. Who is to say for sure?
Dings has Palace and Livp these next two...with a shout to be rested tomorrow to boot. Haller has Brighton GW25 so it seems like a pretty low cost punt for these two to maybe get lucky. I'm backing my eye test of Leic looking fucked up and binning Vardz although I am fully aware of the risk here. Could end up being a catastrophe..he's still really highly owned...but if he does blank against West Ham I expect a fire sale ahead of their difficult run.
Mahrez in is just..so good. The feels are strong with him and I'm rolling triple City attack right now. We'll see if this has me fly or plummet.
GK:
Schmeichel (WHU)
Woodman god I hope Woodman is in the actual Prem soon I love him so much. He'll keep the spot warm for the long eight day gameweek while Kasper thinks about what he's done on the bench.
Fucking hate watching him..just sits on his fuckin line all game like DDG. Not expecting a clean at all this week.
DEF:
Finally only throwing three defenders out for the first time in what feels like maybe all fucking season. Dunno.
Alexander-Arnold & Gomez (wol, whu)
Back on double Livp defense after I conveniently got rid of Robbo right about exactly before they started their run of infinity cleans in a row like the genius that I am. Trent and Joemez in for the double..nothing really to say here.
Willians (BUR)
Alongside is another red - baby Will has a home banker against Burnley.
As long as they can keep their noses clean on set pieces a clean at home feels pretty good to me. Bwill can fucking chill and running up and down the wing against the likes of Hendrick or whoever the fuck will feel like a walk in the park compared to having to deal with Mo last game.
MID:
Salah (wol, whu)
Speaking of Mo, hi Mo. GLHF Mo.
Martial (BUR)
Tony M stays...I really had a hard time with him..but ultimately he's still playing up top and is now presumably on pens..for a sortakinda top six team.
I still feel like he'll trickle in points with goals here and there even though their fixtures are pretty mixed. Again, I still don't know what "good" fixtures look like for United nor do I expect to. As long as Martial is fit and starting he scores in this league. Looked good against Livp and has a home banker this GW. He stays.
Mahrez & De Bruyne (shu)
New boy Mahrez joins old friend ging god Kevin for the double up in mid on City.
Mahrez pretty sexy guy lately and it would've felt dirty to have been going so insane about him on the pod and not to buy him in my team. SheffU away is a rough fixture but the way he has been looking lately I back him to get points against anyone.
FWD:
Maupay (bou)
Neal..oh Neal. I don't even know anymore with Neal. Another good fixture but ugh he's been frustrating. Another almost goal at the end of the game for him this weekend I was having flashbacks to that Everton chance a few games ago. He's still sooo good eye test and build up and IRL stuff but it's just not there yet for FPL points. The team doesn't create a ton in open play and he's a concern. Fixtures turn soon so he's on borrowed time. Would be nice if he could put up one nice score before I bin him. At Edward is always a good time and place to start.
Agüero (shu)
Kun feels hard to drop right now but who knows what his fitness levels are like. Either way he's on song and is going nowhere.
Haller (lei, LIV)
Last guy is Sebby Haller. As mentioned earlier has been putting up very solid stats lately and really just rolling the dice here on the big man up top with two games this gameweek. Stranger things have happened and I'm going with the high ceiling play in the DGW.
TRIPLE CAP:
Salah (wol, whu)
Mo.
Derek, that sweet summer child, really just put me in my place on the pod when we discussed this topic. When he uses the triple cap he wants “to go for it.”
Simple words from a complex and cultured man.
Mo has hat trick potential every game he walks on the pitch.
Sure, Trent has a pretty high ceiling also...but assists from corners and goals usually from direct frees are hard to predict. Mo is Mo...it was always going to be Mo.
ALON
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Guilbert, Sarr, Jiménez
IN (for -4 points hit): Alexander-Arnold, Grealish, Haller
Fuck it man I don’t know.
I didn’t need to hit at all I’m doing it for pure fun with the chance of spiking something.
Guilbert and dead Sarr to Trent and Jack is very easy and obvious and good - I feel like I do not need to address those transfers at all.
Jim on the other hand my nemesis needed to be fucked off. I just can’t stand looking at him in my team at all anymore. He has home Liverpool same as Haller so basically cancels out there and then Haller has the additional fixture and the way better fixture next week too.
I might Wildcard next week but I don’t know, I’m living in the now and right now I want my big french love of life Haller to do some things.
Hitting while on a loss in the FML FPL Cup is probably very stupid but I am also probably definitely very stupid and bad at FPL... Don’t really know what I’m doing at this juncture and sorta don’t really care.
Come on Haller.
GK:
Ryan (bou)
Whatever fucking Mat with one T just cannot get it done anymore.
Cleans in GWs 1-15: 4
Bonus points in GWs 1-15: 11
Cleans since I got him GWs 16-23: 1
Bonus points in GWs 16-23: 0
Feels bad man.
DEF:
van Dijk & Alexander-Arnold (wol, whu)
Delightful double.
I called that VVDong on last week’s lambs which is cool. I wish this game was H-O-R-S-E rules and I got a bonus for calling my shot but alas it’s not and it’s horrible... Well Hammers and Wolves aren’t as bad as Man. Utd. at set piece defending but they’re not great either so maybe Virge will be in the mood again and propel me to the moon?
Trent needs no words.
Hoping for the double clean and anything else is a bonus boner.
Söyüncü (WHU)
Still very cleanable but is anything really cleanable for Leicester anymore? TBD.
Is this GW1 darling SoyBoy’s final game in my side? Possibly. And if I Wildcard then definitely.
So much TBD.
MID:
Salah (wol, whu)
Mo hitting some form. He looks great lately.
De Bruyne (shu)
We just hold Kev.
Maddison (WHU)
Another of my Leicester triple to be fucked off next week if I Wildcard and Maddo may still go even if I don’t Wildcard... he was flying for a while and then getting demolished by City and Liverpool back to back may have fucked this team up.
Grealish (WAT)
Lol @ Me shouting Jack for GW1 team and the not having the confidence or balls to actually do the thing.
Here we are it’s GW24 and I’m just getting him for the first time when he’s already bagged a few double digit hauls and over 100 points. Fucking Lol @ Me that’s my season in summary.
FWD:
Vardy (WHU)
One last hurrah? Another Fox another chopping block as far as I’m concerned.
It’s been not really a fun ride since everyone had Vardz and everyone capped Vardz almost every week so it’ll feel good to fuck him off soon.
Home Hammers come on go make a statement Leicester COME ONNNN.
Calvert-Lewin (NEW)
Backed the marriage of stats+eye-test and got paid for it with 8 points last week. Still love DCL for these next three fixtures NEW wat CRY - team looks pretty good and he looks good. Like the kid.
Haller (lei, LIV)
It’s a punt. Nothing more then that.
It’s also a stupid punt draining 4 points from my team but it’s 4 points I’m willing to gamble with clearly.
Maybe he does a thing. Ya never know. Leicester been the opposite of solid since the Ndidi injury and Liverpool I mean again - ya never know.
He’s class and his stats are great just need those to turn into some points come on Seb.
Allons-y! Alonzo!
TRIPLE CAP:
Salah (wol, whu)
Ride together, die together.
We’ve always been Mo boys gotta say.
I don’t think either of us have owned Mane in actually years (the s makes it plural). It’s not smart but we’re just Mo boys I don’t know what else to say. Did you see his bod? I mean...
Pens and form and eye-test and maybe it’ll be a 4231 with him up top vs. Wolves like it was last time which would also be great for us.
The machine... go on... it’s fucking time...
Got some catching up to do in the Golden Boot race too.
It has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime. What better place than here? What better time than now? All, hell, can’t stop us now.
NOT RANDOM SLACKER OF THE WEEK: Barik G9
The words of Random Slacker are not officially endorsed by this website nor any employees of FML FPL LLC.
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Abraham & Hayden
IN: Greenwood & Moura
Time to stop being a passive little bitch and spend the transfer I've been floating since I WC'd in GW13.
I suppose I haven't had too many fires to put out considering I've been floating for actual 10 GWs, but Tamela looking like a ball-fumbling fuck and the death of Marcus Rashford (F) is enough to push me into a new 3-5-2 formation for the first time this season.
Is 90% of the reason I'm getting Lucash because I'm a Mou fanboy? I sink so. I like the 7.1 for a forward shout, even on a team looking diabolical. After all, I have Tony too, don't I?
Wait, do I have 5 strikers now? Seems good.
GK:
Ryan (bou)
Ryan has been pretty awful since Alon killed him by bringing him in, but let's see how he gets on against a relegation zone Bournemouth.
I've stopped expecting cleans from him altogether, how about some saves pls? Kill for a 4 pointer from the 3 point merchant.
DEF:
Stephens (cry)
I got on the Stephens train last week and now I'm giving him the start ahead of Soyboy amidst a horrific Leicester team that can't defend for its life without Ndidi. Go on, Jack. Clean against Woy's boys one time.
Gomez & Alexander-Arnold (wol, whu)
The double festivities begin.
It's hilarious to watch people trip themselves over whether Gomez is a good pick, worrying about his place in the team when he's getting points for fun. Was said on the pod this season that sometimes people go into "wait and see" mode when they should be getting the player in and squeezing the points while they can. Is 5.2 for a player that cleans every week good?
He's nailed and first choice alongside VVD until proven otherwise.
As we say in the South, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
*laughs in clean sheet points*
And what can I say about Trent? He assists like a midfielder with the right foot of a forward and the clean sheet points of a defender.
Trent is a god and if you don't own him you probably enjoy watching other people do your partner.
MID:
Mane (wol, whu)
Do I wish this said Mo instead of Mane? Perhaps.
Do I want to be like my ML rival schmuck who's spent 4 (FOUR) transfers this year switching between Mo and Mane like a coked up fiend? Absolutely not.
While I reckon Mo is the slightly better pick right now based on pens and my personal eye test, that only happened recently.
Mane has been on another level for a while now and I expect them to keep trading points throughout the upcoming amazing run.
Go on Sadio, double gameweek me into glory.
De Bruyne & Mahrez (shu)
Goddammit, as I type this why are all of my players away?
Our resident ginger goes to one of the toughest places in the league. Hopefully he'll do some Kev magic to break them down and not play DM.
And sometimes in life the stars just align perfectly, like transferring in Algerian legend Riyad right before he hauls for a 17 pointer and cuts my rank in half.
Shoutout to my boy Al on Slack who followed me on the punt that everyone wants to take now.
Even though he got a 1 pointer last week, he's still averaging 9 in my team if my math is correct, is that good?
I'm happy to own Mahrez for at least a few more, because truth be told he's even a shout to return off the bench when he doesn't start. It's happened before this season and it could happen again.
Stats are through the roof and eye test off the charts.
C'mon Mahrez, do the best you can under Fraudiola's audacity to ever bench you.
Martial (BUR)
I finally get to write about a home fixture and it's Manchester United. Fuck.
I'm not in the soothsayer game, so I'm not gonna try and predict how they look without Rash.
Instead, I'm just gonna hope that Tony keeps Tony'ing which means constantly dancing in and around the box like the beautiful French boy he is when fit.
I still believe.
Moura (NOR)
Finally, a home banker.
Queue Tottenham lose 1-0 and Mourinho blames the color of the match ball.
Hoping Norwich get absolutely duon (if Spurs 2.0 without Kane are even capable of such a thing) and Lucas is in and around the points. Doesn't get much better than this fixture wise.
FWD:
Vardy (WHU)
Still a steady hold for me until it's absolutely obvious to get rid.
Bring your vodka and your charlie because WHU are diabolical.
Ings (cry)
3 blanks from 11 starts in my side.
How much trouble will I be in if I name my first born Daniel?
What was at first going to be a ride-the-fixtures absolute punt is now easily a season long hold. Just knocked on wood so he can stay fit all season and keep ticking along.
TRIPLE CAP:
Alexander-Arnold (wol, whu)
The novelty of triple captaining a defender was too much to resist. When will this ever happen again? A defender is actually explosive enough to TC, playing for one of the best teams in PL history, with 2 good fixtures in a double gameweek and a 6 day break. Perfect storm.
This isn't just any defender, it's a guy who starts every game with a base score of 6 + any assists/dongs he gets. With 13 returns on the season, he gets a lot.
If City had this double and Trent played for them exactly the same way, perhaps I'd TC my City attackers. They're a relentless attack that wants the sixth when they're up 5-0, whereas Livp are content with turning cruise control on when they're up a goal or two. For those reasons, and the clean sheet potential, I personally see more upside going for Trent than Mane.
Here's the worst-average-best case scenario I envision:
Worst case: 8 points from a clean and blank. Surely they clean once at least, right?
8 x 3 = 24.
Not ideal.
Average case: ~12 points from two cleans or a blank and a double return game.
12 x 3 = 36.
Respectable.
Best case: Fuck me x 3 = triple fuck me.
Flying.
Feels weird to be putting my faith in someone even younger than me but here we are, I'm TC'ing a defender, and now it's on lambs which means no going back.
I've never felt more alive.

New Look Sabres: GM 47 - CGY
Tumblr media
In case you were lucky enough to miss Monday night’s catastrophe in Edmonton let me just fill you in: The Sabres have six wins since late November and there is a bit of a crisis unfolding. To many angry fans delight there were reports midday Tuesday of Phil Housley running a very “not so fun” video session before practice in Calgary. There were strongly worded statements from guys who wear letters like Zach Bogosian, and Housley said some nice things about Eichel but ultimately the motto we heard early in the season of not getting too high or low emotionally won out. I’m not that kinda even-keeled guy when it comes to my sports so I wanted to tear this team a new one after that embarrassment Monday Night. Instead I’ll focus my energy on the Flames here: they’re the hottest team in the West all puns intended. They caught fire (yes, more puns) late in the first half of the season and now sit atop the strong West and weak Pacific Division. Before any of the recent success the Flames stayed neck and neck with the Sabres in their last meeting back in Buffalo. Tight games make for rattled nerves and this game was the higher scoring version of another tight matchup. I had no chill in the third period of this game. Calgary may be a good chill pill though for us panicking Sabres fans: consider the makeup of that team. They have their special talent, a couple of franchise centers, a top D-man and a developing young core. The club has been in something of a rut the last couple years just not being able to go anywhere if they do make the playoffs. Just like us Sabres fans earlier this season all it takes is a good stretch and you’re outlook changes. They timed theirs a bit better but I digress: it’s coming friends; a consistently competitive Sabres squad is coming one way or another. I took most of this game off from social media because that’s been so rough lately and perhaps I do that more because this game was a nice little shot of refreshment in dower times for Buffalo once you get past the nervous jitters.
The Flames played their game from the opening puck drop. Luckily, at least early on, the Sabres frustrated many of their efforts standing up in the neutral zone and breaking up some of the scariest plays. While the home team would get the edge in shots by the end of the first that category seemed rather even for most of the frame. Calgary leads the league in short-handed goals and nearly got one on the Sabres powerplay halfway through the first. Jeff Skinner took a nasty tumble into the wall in a battle in the corner but was back out two shifts later. Johan Larsson played very well for his role throughout this game. Jason Pominville tripped Matthew Thachuk in a very obvious way late and got penalized for it. The period was in its last second when Bogosian’s skate bounced a puck to Johnny Gaudreau right in front. Johnny Hockey didn’t miss and the clock read .5 seconds with the Flames entering the first intermission with 1-0 lead. The second period played like the rollercoaster of emotion this season has become. The first ten minutes it was clear the Flames had some momentum. They took over the possession game and hardly let the visitors out of their own zone for half the period. Linus Ullmark made more than a couple great saves but the one that you’ll see in the highlights is him leaping and rolling to stop a rebound shot. If it was to be a much needed win for Buffalo it would be in no small part because Ullmark kept them in this game.
Then our pal Johnny Hockey gets called for the softest hooking penalty you’ll see this week. Don’t worry Calgarians, the Sabres don’t do shit on the powerplay. There was a momentum shift in that fruitless two minutes though and shortly thereafter the puck was cleared from Ullmark to Mittelstadt who saw the opportunity to sky the puck to Evan Rodrigues who had just jumped on the ice. It was a full breakaway and E-Rod just tapped in five-hole on David Rittich. I didn’t give this guy his due for scoring last game so today we celebrate Rodrigues: two goals in two games after only having two goals through the prior 39 games. Rodrigues worked his way out of the lost three in preseason and has become a consistent contributor this season if not in goals than assists and plays. Last night it was a goal. A late hit on Lawrence Pilut (who may have also had one of his better games ever) touched off a brief scrum shortly after showing the Flames were somewhat annoyed. I would be too because without Ullmark this game would’ve been a rout through two periods. It was not and it was tied at 1 going into the third. The third period would show just how much the Sabres wanted out of this losing streak.
The visitors came out with the snarl they had developed in the second but Sam Bennett drew a penalty via Rasmus Dahlin and the Flames went to the powerplay where Elias Lindholm and Matthew Thachuk teamed up for a tap in goal. Lindholm has been a great pickup for Calgary and we here in Buffalo can relate to robbing Carolina blind. Anyway, the 2-1 lead for the home team could’ve been it with how the Sabres have been playing recently. Luckily, less than a minute later Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart forwarded the puck along the boards in the O-zone to Rasmus Dahlin setup at the blueline. Dahlin took a real hard shot that must have taken a deflection or two because when it went in the top right corner over Rittich shoulder there was some surprise from all involved. Tie game. The spark was fully ignited now and Jake McCabe had hardly gotten into the O-zone when he took a similar slapper shot and, redirected or not, the puck got past Rittich: 3-2 and the visitors’ first lead of the game. It was at this point that Lindholm was battling Pilut in the Sabres D-zone when he attempted to murder Pilut with a cross check to the neck. No call as Pilut struggles to stay up and Noah Hanifin, another robbery from Carolina, finds the equalizer. Had the game been played in Buffalo that play would’ve gotten loud boos. Mikael Backlund got penalized a couple minutes later as a clear make-up call but nothing came of it, the Flames outshot the Sabres through the remainder of the period and this game went to OT. In spite of dominating play for large stretches of this game Calgary never had the puck in overtime and at 1:10 Jack Eichel outmaneuvers Mark Giordano and took the lane to shoot high and end it. Sabres win 4-3 in OT.
In my “Points in the Standings Acceptability” scale for this Western Canada roadie I put 3 points as the bare minimum. Really, we have to want a win tomorrow against Vancouver to have any good feelings going into the bye-week/All Star weekend. This middle stretch of the season has been a disaster and in spite of the joy of this win there needs to be some consistency to get out of crisis mode. A Two game stack of wins going into the break probably doesn’t do that but it’s a start. Coming back to Columbus and Dallas after the break is not a tremendous help either but these guys got themselves into this mess and they’ll have to get out… well unless something else happens in the intermittent time. I don’t want to speculate about trades at the moment, too pissed. Bench Scandella and fix that ugly friggin powerplay. The powerplay of this team continues to be unacceptable and frankly heads should roll for that. Your ugly stretch as of late looks that much different if you capitalize on even half of your powerplays. The Sabres have scored once on their last 20 attempts: disgusting. On a lighter note, Eichel is back on track and Rasmus Dahlin now holds the longest point streak for an 18-year-old defenseman in NHL history at 5 games played. The Sabres fought hard last night, could not be denied and got rewarded for it with the most refreshing two points in a while, eh?
The teams ahead of the Sabres in the playoff race aren’t slowing down unfortunately. You can’t do anything about the week and a half off but narrowing the gap a little tomorrow in Vancouver is somewhat helpful. Like, share and comment on this blog, I would love to hear from you. I for one am just happy to go about my normal tasks today with a Sabres win hanging over my head and not the storm cloud of doom that’s been there awhile… er… maybe the storm cloud isn’t far behind but we won! We won, dammit! The Buffalo Sabres just beat the second best team in the league and we ought to take that for what it is. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s the turning point this team needs.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. With Nathan Beaulieu requesting a trade (or just asking for more minutes depending on who you ask) it might just force Jason Botterill’s hand in a larger move. That said you could have just benched Scandella but whatever.

Al Jazeera, Malaysiakini, and Code Blue news websites probed for critical reporting in Malaysia

Al Jazeera, Malaysiakini, and Code Blue news websites probed for critical reporting in Malaysia
Civil society has issued a robust response to the crackdown
Collage from the news websites of Al Jazeera, Malaysiakini, and Code Blue, plus the cover of a banned book in Malaysia.
News groups, editors, and journalists continue to face charges and investigations in Malaysia for fulfilling their duty to inform. On June 12, Global Voices reported how Malaysia’s new government, which only came to power in March 2019, has already initiated cases against several journalists, bloggers, civil society leaders, opposition politicians, and other critics of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. Since then, there has been a surge cases filed against critical journalists. Here are some of the major cases in the past month:
Al Jazeera faces probe over documentary
Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera released on July 3 a documentary that tackled Malaysia’s alleged crackdown on undocumented migrants and refugees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Malaysian officials quickly condemned the report as false and malicious, and insisted that migrants were treated well in detention centers. The immigration office also published in response the personal information of a Bangladeshi worker who was interviewed in the documentary. Al Jazeera is now under investigation under section 500 of the Penal Code, section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) as well as section 4(1) of the Sedition Act. Zaid Malek, coordinator for Lawyers for Liberty, saw nothing illegal in the content of the documentary:
…there is nothing there that warrants any criminal investigation by the authorities. Nothing highlighted in the documentary is in fact new; it merely echoes criticisms already brought forth by various NGOs If there truly was anything that was misreported, the government could simply release their own statements to refute any inaccuracies.
A total of 35 civil society groups and 17 individuals have signed a statement expressing support for Al Jazeera. They also criticized officials for exposing the Bangladeshi worker to potential harm:
The government should not be complicit in human rights abuses against migrant workers, such as doxxing and threats, by promoting hatred or discrimination in their messaging.
Contempt charges for Malaysiakini over comments by readers
News website Malaysiakini and its editor-in-chief Steven Gan face contempt of court proceedings based on a case filed by Attorney-General Idrus Harun over comments left on the website by readers. Idrus claimed that five comments in the Malaysiakini article titled ‘CJ (Chief Justice) orders all courts to be fully operational from July 1′ accused the judiciary of corruption. Idrus said these comments “threaten public confidence in the judiciary and are clearly aimed at tarnishing the administration of justice by the judiciary.” Gan said Malaysiakini already removed the “contemptuous” comments:
We have removed the allegedly contemptuous comments from our website not long after the news report on the reopening of the courts was uploaded.
Malaysiakini filed a court petition to set aside the case but this was dismissed. The contempt hearing is now scheduled for July 13. Human rights group Suara Rakyat Malaysia warned about the impact of the ruling on the work of other news organizations:
…the finding of the Federal Court thus far would undoubtedly have a chilling effect on free speech as a media organization may be liable for commentaries by its readers. …the finding of the court suggests that individuals can conduct organized posting of contemptuous material on any moderated media website or social media comment sections to incriminate the said platform.
Police investigating Code Blue editor over hospital fire report
In March 2020, health news website CodeBlue published four articles highlighting the declassified findings of an independent inquiry into a 2016 fire at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) which claimed the lives of six patients. This triggered a police investigation for possible violation of Section 203A of the Penal Code which criminalizes the disclosure of information. The Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism issued a statement deploring the police action:
The act of writing about and disclosing the findings related to the fire was done to safeguard public interest and therefore should be protected and not be treated as a crime.
CodeBlue editor Boo Su-Lyn asserts that the case has broader repercussions:
Cops took my phone. It was a rather gruelling session, but I managed to stick to my ethos. This case isn't about me; it's about upholding transparency and accountability in governance. Health care providers must uphold patient safety. Learn from the fatal HSA fire; don't hide it. — Boo Su-Lyn (@boosulyn) June 26, 2020
Journalist Tashny Sukumaran summoned over a book contribution
Tashny Sukumaran, a correspondent of Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, tweeted that she was summoned to give her statement to the police about the book ‘Rebirth: Reformasi, Resistance And Hope in New Malaysia’.
I have been called to Bukit Aman this Friday so the police can take my statement regarding the banned book Rebirth: Reformasi, Resistance and Hope in New Malaysia. A lawyer will be accompanying me. — Tashny Sukumaran (@tashny) July 8, 2020
Released earlier this year, the book features commentaries about the 2018 election which toppled the party that ruled the country since the 1950s. Malaysia’s new prime minister said he is willing to work with the leaders of the former ruling party. Tashny Sukumaran contributed an article in the book. The book suddenly became controversial and was eventually banned by the new government after complaints were filed against its cover, which allegedly disrespected the national coat of arms. Artists and activists said the book cover is based on a work of art that has been featured in art galleries since 2014. In a Twitter thread on the summons, Sukumaran castigated the government for harassing critics instead of focusing on addressing the COVID-19 crisis:
In the face of a global pandemic and a looming recession, it is absolutely unconscionable and irresponsible that such undue focus be placed on harassing and intimidating media personnel, activists and migrants. The government of the day should be working to earn the confidence and trust of voters, particularly given how it came to power this March. Creating a culture of fear and wielding state apparatus in a repressive manner to silence citizens is not the way to do this. Obviously.
As cases continue to pile up against dissenters and journalists, civil society groups have reiterated their demand to the government:
Enact a right to information law and repeal or amend repressive laws such as the Printing Presses and Publications Act, the Official Secrets Act, the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the CMA, so that these laws are not utilised arbitrarily to stifle all manner of speech.

Prashant Kanojia's arrest underscores have to revisit regulation on felony defamation, restrictions on proper to free speech
http://tinyurl.com/y634g7pc A lot has been written in regards to the latest arrest of journalist Prashant Kanojia by the Uttar Pradesh Police. He was arrested for posting a tweet, wherein a girl claimed she was in a relationship with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and wished to marry him. Kanojia had shared the tweet along with his personal mocking remark. Regardless of the procedural irregularities associated to the arrest, the case presents one more alternative to revisit the law regarding criminal defamation, typically utilized by the police in such circumstances to abuse the method. Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code give legitimacy to felony defamation in our nation. Summarily, a defamatory act could embody parts which are both spoken or meant to be learn, in addition to gestures and visible representations printed or put up within the public area, which might have a destructive impression on the repute of a person. The offence is punishable with as much as two years of imprisonment, or a tremendous, or each. Representational picture of freedom of speech being curbed in India below defamation legal guidelines. Reuters Prison defamation has typically been used to curb individuals’s freedom of speech and expression, which has instilled a worry felony sanctions amongst individuals, forcing them to chorus from exercising their proper to free speech. Due to this fact, it has at all times been a matter of educational debate, with many advocating for the revocation of this regulation. The British had launched this provision to penalise any and each voice of dissent, with the first goal to focus on the nationwide motion. Its sustenance in Indian regulation is believed to be directed at favouring a token of colonialism and regressive ideology, and thus, felony defamation is criticised because it defeats the thought of free speech and opinion, the very basis upon which the Structure and the tenets of democracy relaxation. The matter regarding the constitutionality of felony defamation got here up within the case of Subramaniam Swamy versus the Union Of India. The Supreme Court docket had held the provisions as constitutional, observing that they don’t stand in battle with the best to free speech. The court docket had noticed that the best to freedom of speech and expression was not an absolute right, and the felony sanctions of felony defamation wouldn’t have any “chilling impact” on such freedom. The primary causes for the court docket to reach at this resolution was that the regulation on defamation serves the bigger curiosity of the general public, and that the mere chance of its abuse mustn’t make it unconstitutional. Nevertheless, there are critical flaws connected to this judgment. To know the issue with the decision after which the whole regulation on felony defamation, we have to perceive the conspectus inside which the best of freedom of speech of a citizen of India operates. The liberty to speech and expression is assured to each citizen of the nation below Article 19 (1)(a) of the Structure of India. Nevertheless, this isn’t an absolute proper, and sure cheap restrictions will be enforced upon it as offered below Article 19(2) — defamation is one in all these restrictions specified. Nevertheless, the Article doesn’t point out whether or not the cheap restriction is one in all civil defamation or felony. Nonetheless, a look on the Supreme Court docket’s earlier judgments helps perceive that the time period “cheap” requires hanging a proportionate stability between the diploma to which free speech is infringed upon and the first curiosity at stake. Defamation is basically a personal improper, whereby solely the particular person affected is worried, whereas felony wrongs are graver and have an effect on the society. Changing defamation right into a felony offence enforces a disproportionate restriction on free speech, and thus, can’t be used to curb the best assured below Article 19 (1)(a) of the Structure of India. Until a big public factor is just not concerned in making the restriction proportionate, freedom of speech ought to be given priority over defamation. Moreover, the query of the “reasonableness” of civil defamation was settled within the case of R Rajagopal versus the State of Tamil Nadu, whereby the Supreme Court docket had adopted the “Sullivan check”, which makes the accused responsible for defamation provided that he had made the statements with reckless disregard for the reality. Nevertheless, this doesn’t apply for felony defamation circumstances, the place even the defence of exhibiting due or cheap care whereas talking is just not purpose sufficient to flee the legal responsibility. Furthermore, the process governing the prosecution for defamation below the Code of Prison Process (CrPC) can be unreasonable because the felony course of itself creates a substantive burden on free speech. Right here, the court docket’s argument that the mere chance of abuse mustn’t make felony defamation unconstitutional doesn’t maintain water. With the proliferation of reports at this time, the instances where a statement can be construed as defamation haven’t any limits. Kanojia’s “offensive” tweet will be thought-about an instance of a defendant’s hardship in defamation circumstances and of how such circumstances get augmented once they undergo numerous jurisdictions, with any variety of circumstances being allowed to be filed in opposition to an accused below Part 199 of the CrPC. Due to this fact, for only one tweet, Kanojia will now need to journey to each jurisdiction and defend himself in each case filed in opposition to him. The harmless defendant additionally faces the abuse of regulation as he’s purported to be current on the location the place the case was lodged in opposition to him. In our time, as data spreads quickly, anybody who finds a press release defamatory can file a case. That is largely finished by those that maintain energy. For instance, politicians file defamation circumstances to harass civil activists as they need to undertake each journey to wherever a case is filed in opposition to them at their very own expense. In truth, Human Rights Watch has reported a number of cases of such harassment, together with by the Tamil Nadu authorities, which had filed practically 200 circumstances of felony defamation in opposition to people between 2011 and 2016. Consequently, along with being an unreasonable restriction on free speech, the best way the regulation on felony defamation operates in India has a chilling impact on residents’ sacrosanct freedom of speech and expression. Kanojia’s arrest highlights exactly why India ranks as low as 140 amongst 180 international locations on the World Press Freedom Index. It’s excessive time that we, as a nation, recognise the significance of freedom of speech and expression in a democracy. Varied international locations have declared the regulation on felony defamation unconstitutional due to the aforementioned issues, and with such cases of unlawful arrests persisting, it’s time India follows swimsuit. OMAHA, Neb. — After his team’s second win in the College World Series on Tuesday, Mississippi State interim coach Gary Henderson was asked about his team’s plans for the upcoming days.
The Bulldogs (39-27), by virtue of starting 2-0 in the tournament, earned two days off before having to take the field again on Friday versus Oregon State (2 p.m. ET, ESPN). Henderson noted that his team would practice twice, then his voice trailed off. He was confused.
“Uh, I’ll be honest with you,” Henderson said to a reporter, puzzled. “What day is today?”
You’ll have to forgive him. His team — like most others in Omaha — have dealt with numerous weather delays that made the days run together. Furthermore, Henderson’s plate was full as spring turned to summer. Four months ago, he had no idea he would be the head coach of a team that is one win away from the CWS final.
The Tigers and Royals will play a game in Omaha ahead of the 2019 College World Series, an initiative that MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says is good for the sport.
Having survived cancer as a child, Texas Tech pitcher Dylan Dusek took time Wednesday to meet with 7-year-old Cal Worrell, who is fighting the disease.
The White Sox picked the second baseman fourth in the MLB draft, but he is focused on keeping the Beavers alive at the College World Series.

That all changed on Feb. 20, when former Mississippi State coach Andy Cannizaro was forced to resign. Henderson was thrust into the interim role and the Bulldogs — who already had dealt with the inconveniences of makeshift fall practices and extended early-season road trips because of ongoing construction at Dudy Noble Field on the Starkville campus — were in the midst of an unforeseen change just three games into what was supposed to be a promising season.
After consecutive trips to the NCAA super regionals, high expectations abounded for the Diamond Dawgs. When the coaching drama and other logistical headaches disrupted things, they limped to a 14-15 start, including a 2-7 conference record.
Something strange happened along the way. The Bulldogs clicked. They fought. They won. And now they’re the most improbable story of the 2018 College World Series, a team that a month ago was in danger of missing its own conference tournament but has now scratched and clawed to the CWS semifinals with dramatic walk-off wins, timely pitching, a rally banana and a steady coaching staff that held it all together.
The Dawgs went from down-and-almost-out to the doorstep of history thanks to an unbreakable team bond and its unwavering belief.
“I mean, it’s awesome,” catcher Justin Foscue said. “We said back a long time ago that if we ever did this, they better make a 30 for 30 on us. So maybe we can win it all and they can do that.”
For all the attention SEC football teams receive, its baseball programs are superb too. The conference sent three squads to Omaha, and two of them are 2-0 and a game away from making it an All-SEC final for the second straight season. The league has had at least one participant in the CWS final over nine of the past 10 seasons.
Mississippi State is one of the programs that is among the league’s annual competitors. This is its 10th trip to Omaha and first since 2013. It’s the only SEC program to play in the College World Series in five consecutive decades, though the Bulldogs have never won it all. They expect to compete at this level. But the fall season brought a host of annoyances that came with construction at Dudy Noble Field, which was in the early stages of a two-year, $55 million renovation.
The construction meant that they didn’t have a field available to practice on every day. They did much of their fall work in the Palmeiro Center, an indoor facility for both the football and baseball programs. Some scrimmages were held at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi, some 125 miles away.
“It was rough,” junior infielder Hunter Stovall said. “We had to scrimmage indoors. We didn’t have an outfield [in the Palmeiro Center]. All we had was an infield. Bus into Jackson and scrimmaging there. It was almost a pain. It was like ‘God Almighty, can we just chill and find a field around here?’ It was a struggle. It was what it was. And we did what we had to with what we had.”
Outfielder Elijah MacNamee offered his take.
“We were having intrasquad [scrimmages] and stuff at our indoor facility,” MacNamee said. “Yeah, you can’t do most things that you could on the field, but it didn’t really stop us. We just did what we were told.”
The inconveniences carried over into the spring. While crews continued to work on Dudy Noble, the Dawgs hit the road. They spent their first 12 games away from home and played a meager 23 home games all season. By comparison, their SEC counterparts in the College World Series — Arkansas and Florida — played 40 and 37 home games, respectively.
Gary Henderson was thrust into the spotlight as Mississippi State’s interim coach in February, and he has risen to the occasion. Mike Strasinger/AP
As if those weren’t enough challenges, the coaching change happened after an 0-3 start to the season.
Cannizaro resigned after the Bulldogs were on the wrong end of a season-opening sweep by Southern Miss. In a statement that accompanied the news, he cited “poor decisions” that he made that led to his departure and asked Mississippi State fans to one day forgive him. Later, it became known that an extramarital affair with a university employee was at the crux of the forced resignation.
Out went Cannizaro, and in stepped Henderson — the pitching coach who athletic director John Cohen has long known, worked with and trusted to try to right the ship.
Sudden change isn’t easy, but it didn’t impact everyone the same way.
“I mean, we kinda saw it coming,” Stovall said. “But then again, [Cannizaro] had some good relationships with some of the people on the team, so it affected people differently. But it was unfortunate, I can tell you that. But Coach Henderson has come in and done an unbelievable job of filling that role — and honestly, we couldn’t have had anybody better do it.”
Henderson’s credentials — he is a 30-year coaching veteran who has been a head coach in the SEC before, at Kentucky — gave him credibility among the players. (“He knows the game of baseball and he knows how to play it the right way,” pitcher Konnor Pilkington said.) Plus, he already had been in the program for a year. Assistant coaches Jake Gautreau and Mike Brown played key roles too as the players adapted to a fresh outlook. They tried to keep the team optimistic.
“I just think our coaches have done a really good job of just keeping us together, keeping us positive through it all,” Foscue said. “I think [Henderson] is just a really positive coach. He knows what he’s doing. Coach Gautreau has done a really good job with the hitters. Henderson’s more with the pitchers. But I think it’s just the positivity they’ve shown in the worst times has really helped us.”
Stovall said that after a few weeks the players saw the investment Henderson had in the team’s success and realized that, “OK, this dude is real. He’s not just in the position and trying to get through the year; he wants to win.”
“So when we figured that out,” Stovall continued, “that’s when we all came together.”
Still, there was the small matter of winning games, something that was difficult early on. They were under .500 at midseason, and it wasn’t until May 9 that they made it to five games over .500. When the Bulldogs entered their final regular-season series at Florida, there was a chance that they would miss the SEC tournament if they were swept by the Gators.
Instead, they did the sweeping. On the strength of that series, as well as their performance against a top-10 Ole Miss team earlier in the season, the Bulldogs had done enough to position themselves for a regional.
But even that wasn’t easy. They lost the first game of the Tallahassee Regional and were one strike away from being eliminated, before MacNamee blasted a three-run walk-off homer for a 3-2 win over Florida State that saved the season. After three more wins and another MacNamee walk-off to open the Nashville Super Regional against Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs survived a frenzied Game 3 — which went 11 innings and included a three-run ninth-inning comeback by the Commodores — before eventually pulling out a 10-6 win to clinch their spot in Omaha.
Despite all their obstacles, the Bulldogs still ended up where they thought they would when the season began.
Jordan Westburg and his Mississippi State teammates have gone bananas in the postseason — figuratively and literally Nati Harnik/AP
“I think you have to go to the character of the kids and the type of people they are, how they were raised, the support of their families,” Henderson said. “I think you have to give a lot of credit to the coaching staff, especially the assistant coaches who deal with those guys so much on a day-to-day basis and, obviously, then you look at team leadership.
“All those things come together to create a cohesive unit that makes a decision to focus on the right things, the important things, talk about the things that are really, really relevant in terms of being successful and makes a decision to not get wrapped up in the nonsense.”
While they’ve avoided the nonsense, that doesn’t mean the Bulldogs haven’t had fun. Yes, that fun involves a yellow piece of fruit.
If you follow State, you know the background by now. Nine-hole hitter Jordan Westburg started having fun with a banana in the Tallahassee Regional. First it was a phone. Then it was a radar gun. It has spent time on his head. Coincidentally, the Bulldogs started to play well after Westburg’s shenanigans and soon it became a superstition.
Fans caught on and now bananas are all over the place, in both the Mississippi State dugout and in the crowd. Some fans have been spotted wearing banana costumes. A 10-year-old reporter from Sports Illustrated for Kids asked Henderson on Tuesday about it. After explaining its origins — and the fact that Westburg had seven RBIs in Mississippi State’s win over North Carolina — Henderson enthusiastically said, “I think you need to believe in the banana.”
The explosion of the banana underscores this team’s demeanor: loose and fun, but not at the expense of focus. On the field, they’ve been almost impossible to beat this month. Off of it, they’re cutting up in the clubhouse, having a blast. Pilkington called the season a “roller coaster.” The fact that they’ve stuck together through it all has been the linchpin to their memorable run.
“Literally, every single one of us are best friends,” Stovall said. “We give each other so much crap. When I say we’re like brothers, we fight like brothers. It’s crazy.”
That’s why they’re here, a win away the program’s second CWS final appearance in school history.
“We had some boys at the beginning of the year and now everyone on this team are men,” MacNamee said. “This is something everyone’s going to remember for the rest of their life. No matter what happens in this tournament, this team is something special.”

The Latest: Defense helps Eagles win 1,000-yard Super Bowl
MINNEAPOLIS  /February 4, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) — The Latest from the Super Bowl (all times local):
9:20 p.m.
A defensive play helped clinched Philadelphia’s first title in the Super Bowl era in the first 1,000-yard Super Bowl.
Brandon Graham forced a fumble by Tom Brady and Derek Barnett recovered with just more than two minutes remaining, and the Eagles beat the defending champion New England Patriots 41-33.
It was just the sixth defensive stop in 19 possessions at that point. The game’s only sack came after Nick Foles put the Eagles ahead 38-33 on an 11-yard pass to Zach Ertz.
The Eagles added a field goal after Brady’s fumble, and a desperation pass from Brady on the final play landed incomplete in the end zone.
There were 1,151 yards of total offense, breaking the previous record of 929 when Washington beat Denver 42-10 in 1988.
Brady had the first 500-yard passing game in the Super Bowl, breaking his record of 466 from last year in Houston.
___
9:05 p.m.
Nick Foles threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz, and the Philadelphia Eagles took a 38-33 lead over the defending champion New England Patriots late in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.
Ertz beat Devin McCourty on a quick-in route and held the ball in front of him as he drove for the goal line. The ball went over the goal line and popped out of Ertz’s hands as he hit the ground.
The ruling was upheld on review, with referee Gene Steratore saying Ertz possessed the ball as a runner before the ball went across the goal line.
It was the 13th scoring possession out of 18 in the game, and the teams had more than 1,100 yards total offense after the score. The previous Super Bowl record was 929 combined yards.
___
8:40 p.m.
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have taken their first lead in the first 1,000-yard Super Bowl.
Brady threw his second touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski and third overall, and Stephen Gostkowski’s PAT kick gave the Patriots a 33-32 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter.
Brady is on the verge of breaking his record of 466 yards passing from last year’s Super Bowl, when the Patriots rallied to beat Atlanta.
The teams have combined to score on 12 of the game’s 17 possessions.
Nick Foles has 308 yards passing with two touchdowns and another touchdown receiving.
___
8:25 p.m.
Tom Brady has thrown for more than 400 yards for the second straight Super Bowl, and the New England Patriots are within three of the Philadelphia Eagles for the second time in the second half of the Super Bowl.
The Patriots and Eagles have also set the record for combined yardage in a Super Bowl, before the start of the fourth quarter. The previous record was 929 yards, set when Washington had 602 yards to 327 for Denver in the Redskins’ 42-10 win in 1988.
Brady threw a 26-yard scoring pass to Chris Hogan, pushing him to 404 yards passing and getting the Patriots within 29-26 late in the third quarter.
Brady set the Super Bowl record with 466 yards when the Patriots rallied from 25 points down to beat Atlanta 34-28 in overtime in Houston last year. The other 400-yard game was by Kurt Warner of the St. Louis Rams in a 23-16 win over Tennessee in 2000.
___
8:10 p.m.
The high-scoring Philadelphia Eagles have answered the New England Patriots again in the Super Bowl.
Nick Foles threw 22-yard touchdown pass to Corey Clement, and the Eagles restored their 10-point halftime lead, going up 29-19 on the Patriots.
Clement held the ball in his left arm as he took two steps, and a third step appeared to be just out of bounds. The scoring play stood after a video review.
Foles now has two touchdowns passing and one receiving, with 268 yards passing.
Tom Brady had 344 yards passing and a touchdown for the Patriots as the teams have combined for 833 yards midway through the third quarter.
___
7:55 p.m.
Tom Brady has found his favorite target, and the New England Patriots have drawn closer in the Super Bowl.
Brady had four straight completions to Rob Gronkowski, the last one a 5-yarder for the touchdown that cut Philadelphia’s lead to 22-19.
The 75-yard play got going on Brady’s 25-yard throw to Gronkowski, followed right away by a 24-yarder. After a 14-yard completion and 3-yard run by James White, Brady found his tight end again in the end zone on the opening drive of the second half.

The Super Bowl broadcast on NBC hasn’t gone off without a hitch.
The telecast went dark for several seconds on Sunday night during a commercial break, prompting predictable confusion and frustration from viewers.
NBC Sports issued a statement on Twitter that attributed the darkness to a “brief equipment failure.” The network said no game action or commercial time was missed.
The temperature outside in Minneapolis at halftime was 0 degrees, with a wind chill factor of minus-18 degrees below zero.
Complaints from the TV audience on social media also included criticism of the audio quality during Justin Timberlake’s halftime show at cavernous U.S. Bank Stadium.

Justin Timberlake has paid tribute to Prince during his Super Bowl halftime performance with a cover of “I Would Die 4 U.”
The singer’s set started out in an underground portion of U.S. Bank Stadium made to look like a club filled with lasers and dancers. Timberlake emerged from into the stadium and performed a dance-filled set that included “Sexyback” and “Cry Me A River.”
Timberlake danced atop the NFL logo and then with a marching band for “Suit & Tie.”
The singer kept on his feet before taking a seat at a white piano to perform “I Would Die 4 U” with footage of Prince projected onto a long screen in the middle of the stadium.
Before the game, there were rumors that Timberlake would use a hologram of Prince during his performance, drawing criticism from fans and those who knew the late superstar.

Nick Foles caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from tight end Trey Burton on a fourth-down trick play, and the Philadelphia Eagles have a 22-12 halftime lead over the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
The Foles score came after Tom Brady dropped an over-the-shoulder catch on a trick play for New England on an earlier drive that ended in a failed fourth-down play.
With 34 seconds left in the half, Foles lined up at quarterback before shifting behind the right side of the offensive line as Corey Clement took the snap. Foles paused at the line of scrimmage before running to the end zone as Burton took a reverse pitch from Clement. Burton was recruited as a quarterback at Florida.
Foles and Tennessee’s Marcus Mariota are the only quarterbacks to throw and catch a touchdown in the playoffs since at least 1950.
The Eagles answered a 26-yard scoring run by James White that pulled the Patriots within three. Stephen Gostowski missed the PAT kick. Earlier, the Eagles’ Jake Elliott missed and the Eagles failed on a 2-point conversion.
White, who had three touchdowns and a 2-point conversion in last year’s Super Bowl win over Atlanta, has 26 career points in the Super Bowl. That’s fourth all time behind Jerry Rice (48), Adam Vinatieri (34) and Emmitt Smith (30).

6:45 p.m.
New England Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks is out for the rest of the Super Bowl with a concussion.
Cooks was wide open early in the second quarter underneath the Philadelphia zone, when he caught Tom Brady’s pass, pivoted and danced back and forth to try to extend the play. He didn’t see Eagles safety Michael Jenkins coming, though, and was knocked to the turf with a legal-but-jarring hit by Jenkins.
Cooks was barely moving for several seconds, before sitting up and slowly walking off the field. The Patriots soon announced he was out for the remainder of the game with a head injury.
This leaves Brady without one of his most important targets. Cooks was second on the team during the regular season with 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns, a critical contribution amid the absence of wide receiver Julian Edelman.
The first Super Bowl of Cooks’ career was a short but rough one.
He took a jet-sweep handoff in the first quarter and tried to hurdle Eagles safety Rodney McLeod hit him in the groin area and slammed him backward to the turf at the 8-yard line after only a 1-yard gain on third-and-2. Then Patriots kicker Stephen Gronkowski had a 26-yard field goal try bounce off the left upright after a mishandled snap.

6:35 p.m.
Turns out Tom Brady’s not quite as good on the other end of a pass, and Philadelphia’s lead is growing.
Brady botched an attempted over-the-shoulder catch on a throw from receiver Danny Amendola on a trick play. The Patriots went for it on fourth-and-5 after that play, and Brady’s throw to Rob Gronkowski was knocked away by Philadelphia’s Jalen Mills.
Six plays later, LeGarrette Blount scored on a 21-yard run. The 2-point conversion pass attempt by Nick Foles fell incomplete, leaving the Eagles’ lead at 15-3.
Earlier in New England’s drive, Brandin Cooks stayed motionless on the field for about a minute after a hard blindside hit to the head from Malcolm Jenkins at the end of a 23-yard catch. It was announced that Cooks wouldn’t return.

6:08 p.m.
Nick Foles isn’t having any trouble moving the Philadelphia offense against the defending champion New England Patriots.
Foles threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to a leaping Alshon Jeffery in the back of the end zone to give the Eagles a 9-3 lead in the first quarter.
Jake Elliott missed his fifth PAT kick of the season, going wide right.
Foles was 8 of 11 for 102 yards on the first two Philadelphia possessions.
The Patriots matched the Eagles’ field goal on the opening drive. It was the first time in eight Super Bowls with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick that New England scored in the first quarter.
___
6 p.m.
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have finally scored points in the first quarter of a Super Bowl.
The Patriots answered an opening field goal by the Philadelphia Eagles with Stephen Gostkowski’s 26-yarder for a 3-3 tie on New England’s first possession.
It’s the first time in eight Super Bowl appearances that the Patriots have scored in the first quarter with Brady and coach Bill Belichick. The key plays were Brady’s completions of 28 yards to Chris Hogan and 15 yards to running back James White.
Both teams drove 67 yards to their first points.

A Metro Transit spokesman says 17 people were taken away after they blocked a light-rail line carrying Super Bowl ticketholders to the stadium.
Howie Padilla says no one was hurt in the protest, which blocked trains for about two hours ahead of Sunday’s kickoff. Metro Transit had buses standing by to get ticketholders to the stadium in time.
The activists said they were protesting police brutality, as well as the light-rail trains being taken over by Super Bowl spectators rather than being available to ordinary citizens.
Padilla says Metro Transit doesn’t expect the 17 activists to face charges. He says Metro Transit respects people’s right to free speech and demonstration.
___
5:44 p.m.
The Philadelphia Eagles have settled for Jake Elliott’s 25-yard field goal and a 3-0 lead over the New England Patriots on the opening drive of the Super Bowl.
The Eagles had a first down at the 5 after Corey Clement’s 16-yard gain on a catch and run. But a penalty and two incomplete passes forced Philadelphia to settle for the field goal.
The Patriots will take over looking for their first points in the first quarter in eight Super Bowl appearances with quarterback Tom Brady.
Quarterback Nick Foles had completions of 17 yards to Alshon Jeffery and 15 yards to Torrey Smith the play after Smith had a drop on second down.
___
5:27 p.m.
The New England Patriots have won the opening coin toss for the Super Bowl and have deferred to the second half.
The Philadelphia Eagles will start the game with the ball and hope to be the first team to score on the opening possession of the Super Bowl since Devin Hester returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown for Chicago against Indianapolis in the 2007 game.
___
4:45 p.m.
Carson Wentz is throwing passes in warmups for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The injured quarterback was walking gingerly and not stepping into the throws as he worked alongside starter Nick Foles.
Wentz tore a ligament in his left knee against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14. Foles led playoff wins against Atlanta and Minnesota.
Foles is trying to join Bob Griese, Doug Williams and Jeff Hostetler as backups to win Super Bowls after starting no more than five games during the regular season.
The Eagles are playing the New England Patriots, who are trying to win their sixth Super Bowl with quarterback Tom Brady.
___
4:20 p.m.
Winning the NFL MVP award might not be a great omen for Tom Brady.
The past eight winners of the AP MVP award to reach the Super Bowl have lost the game, including Brady in the 2007 season against the New York Giants.
The other MVPs to lose the big game since Kurt Warner did the regular season-Super Bowl MVP double in the 1999 season for the Rams are: Warner (2001), Rich Gannon (2002), Shaun Alexander (2005), Peyton Manning (2009 and 2013), Cam Newton (2015) and Matt Ryan (2016).
Brady would rather join Warner, Steve Young (1994), Emmitt Smith (1993), Joe Montana (1989), Terry Bradshaw (1978) and Bart Starr (1966) as the players to win the regular season and Super Bowl MVPs in the same season.

The coldest Super Bowl Sunday won’t be felt inside cozy U.S. Bank Stadium.
The overnight temperature in Minneapolis reached minus-6 degrees and was up to 2 degrees around four hours before kickoff between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
The coldest previous range was the Detroit Super Bowl in 1982, with a low of 5 degrees and a high of 16 when it was played at the Silverdome. There was a chance for the Minneapolis high to reach 5 on Sunday.
When the Super Bowl was in Minnesota at the Metrodome in 1992, the outside temperature at kickoff was 26 degrees. That’s the average high here for Feb. 4.
The coldest outdoor game in Super Bowl history was in New Orleans at Tulane Stadium in 1972, when the kickoff temperature was 39 degrees.
