the monsters gone
part 3 of beautiful girl series -> part 1 -> part 2
leah williamson x reader, jordan nobbs x reader (wobbs as moms)
warnings: drug addiction, drug abuse, talks of illicit substances, depression, intrusive thoughts, would not advise for people in a bad mental headspace

You wanted her to leave, or you were desperate for a fix and well aware that it wasn’t going to happen until she was gone and you could retreat up to your room like normal.
You scratched at the incision on your forearm, it was hidden underneath your hoodie but you could feel it all the same, it made you feel guilty.
You’d never felt guilty for taking drugs, why would you? It was your choice, your body, your brain that you were fucking with. Yet for some reason, the little mark that you knew was sitting right on top of your vein was making you feel guilty. You didn’t want to admit it, but it felt oddly like the start of something, you weren’t sure what though, whatever it was though, it didn’t feel good.
When the door clicked open around 2 o’clock you felt far more at peace, watching your mom hobble through the door with Lia following her. Jordan stood up almost immediately and if the room hadn’t already been awkward then the awkwardness found a whole new definition as the two women looked at each other.
“Hey Jord, thanks for hanging around, you’re looking good.”
Your mom looked relieved to see Jordan, your ma on the other side looked slightly terrified as she eyed up the two women.
“It wasn’t an issue, you know I love spending time with my chick.”
Leah smiled, looking down at you on the couch, you buried your head in your phone, ignoring her gaze.
“Whether she admits it or not she likes seeing you as well.”
Your ma laughed awkwardly, it took everything in you to not burst out laughing at all of the tension between the two of them.
“Look I’ll be heading off, gotta me back in Birmingham for game review tonight but can we talk for a minute though Le?”
Your mom’s head cocked to the side, a look of curiosity evident on her face.
“Yeah sure, come with me.”
Lia watches them with the same look of curiosity as you, your eyes meeting as the trail back from the doorway to Leah’s office that they both step into.
“They’re talking about me.”
Lia doesn’t bother trying to ignore you or deny what you’re saying, she nodes her head.
“Probably, that’s what most parents do.”
It’s a absentminded answer, and for a second your aware that maybe Lia is in on whatever is happening, that she knows exactly what is going on behind the door. If anything important came from the phone call earlier you know Lia would be the first to know, she was like the third parent you never asked for nor wanted, but somehow ended up with.
“Ma thinks that Mom’s parenting is shit.”
Lia cocks her head, she’s harder to read then your moms, more calculated, more clean, less obviously emotional.
“She just disagrees with some of the things that your mother does, so do I. Nobody else is in her shoes though, she makes the decisions that are necessary and best for you.”
Lia sounds convinced of her words, even though you doubt them.
“Ma doesn’t think so.”
Lia bit down on her bottom lip, finishing with tucking her kit bag away so she could focus her attention on you.
“She worries about you.”
You did your best to suppress the eye roll, it didn’t work.
“She worries that mom is too nice and isn’t strict enough.”
Sometimes you thought that your mom compensated for the void between the two of you by letting you do whatever you wanted, other times you were reminded by your grandma that she’d told Leah she needed to go easy on you and that not everyone could be as perfect as Leah Williamson.
“Your mom knows what you need better than anybody else.”
The conversation paused, the two of you flinching at the sound of yelling from the other side of the door, you couldn’t make out what was being said, both of them were yelling though.
“Set the table for lunch for me, kiddo?”
You couldn’t pull your eyes from the door, you hadn’t hear your moms yell in a long time, it took you back to when they were breaking up, when they tried to act like they weren’t, when they saved the fighting and yelling for when you’d been tucked into bed and they’d thought you were asleep.
“Kiddo, table.”
You stood up from the couch, your eyes staying stuck to the door, even as you pulled cutlery from the drawer and laid it out with the placemats on the table. Eventually, the yelling ceased, and the room was over come with a silence like no other, only being broken by the door opening and your two moms walking out, both of them looking far more content considering that it had sounded like they were screaming at each other, not thirty seconds ago.
“Bubba, Jord is going to head off, if you want to say bye.”
Jordan’s arms opened up to you and as mad and confused as you were, you weren’t going to deny her. You walked around the table, leaning into her hug, wrapping your arms around her the same way she did for you, letting her hold on for a little bit longer.
“I’ll be back when I can chicky, I love you so much.”
You wanted to tell her she was lying, that they were all lying, they didn’t fucking love you, it was so fucking obvious. But for the sake of keeping the peace you didn’t.
“I love you too Ma.”
Jordan let go of you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. The same way she had when they’d adopted you when you were eight, the same way she had after your first game when you were 12, the same way she had when you were 14 and you’d been top of your form and given an award, the same way she had when she’d left for good when you were 16. It was the same kiss, yet everything about it was different, the meaning, the purpose, the intention, it was all different.
You watched as she walked out the door, the same as every time, you listened to the sound of her car starting and the sound of gravel underneath her tires as she pulled out and onto the road.
Once you were sure she was gone you turned around, sliding into a seat at the table, across from your mother, staring at her.
“What were you guys talking about?”
Leah looked at you, poker face as good as ever.
“Football, some other stuff.”
It was a obvious lie, both you and Lia knew it.
“You were talking about me, what about me?” Leah rolled her eyes at you.
“It was a conversation between your Ma and I, not for your ears.”
You didn’t bat an eye as Lia set lunch down in front of you, to fixated on your mother.
“You don’t yell over nothing, what were you talking about.”
Leah pushed her tongue out against her lips.
“Your ma had some concerns about you, that’s it, I told her she had nothing to worry about and that we were doing just fine.”
You knew that even if you didn’t want to admit it, Jordan probably had some valid points, your mom seemed unphased though.
“That’s it?”
Leah looked at you, and you could tell that she was holding something back.
“She told me that you’d told her you smoked weed last night and that you were vomiting this morning.”
You tried to keep your face from changing, keeping the confident exterior even if you were slightly scared on the inside.
“I got drunk, I had some fun, it was no biggy.”
Leah’s eyebrow rose in the trademark question.
“It’s a biggy to me because you told all you were doing was vaping and a little bit of drinking, you said you’d be honest with me and it’s clear you haven’t been.”
You hesitated for a second, the air thickening around you as suddenly the tension was between you and your mother.
“I was just having some fun mom, I didn’t do anything stupid, I was safe, just like you asked.”
Leah’s face shrivelled up as you used her words against her.
“You were out with friends I’ve never met, at a house on the opposite side of town that I’ve never been too, Jord said you looked like you’d been on a three day bender and I told her that I didn’t believe her but now you’re here admitting it.”
You reached into your pocket for your vape, desperate for something to take the edge of the conversation off, to make you feel calmer.
You pulled it out and Leah’s face immediately pointed inwards.
“How many times do I have to say no vape at the table?”
You frowned, shoving it back in your pocket.
“It was just a bit of weed mom, it’s what kids my age do.”
Leah shook her head.
“It wasn’t just a bit of weed, I’ve been smelling it on your clothes for weeks and trying to tell myself I was being delusional because you’d told me you were just on the vape, that you had no interest in drugs and yet you were lying to me, you have been for a while bubba and I don’t know how to feel about it to be honest. I thought we were closer than most parents and kids, I thought we had boundaries and that I was giving you enough space, and now I don’t know what to think.”
You pursed your lips, struggling to find words.
“And if you’re lying to me about weed then what else is there? What else is there you aren’t telling me because there has to be more. I let you drop football, I relaxed on the school because I know you were struggling but this doesn’t work if you aren’t honest with me.”
You really didn’t know what to say, your mind was in a million different places, the container underneath your bed, the joints on your windowsill hidden behind the curtains, the three vapes in your bedside table, the drug dealer numbers in your phone, what had happened last night, the meth track mark on your arm.
“Nothing, it was just some weed, I just wanted something to take the edge off, it was no big deal.”
Leah’s eyes closed for a second and you knew this was all about to get a lot harder.
“Except it was a big deal because you’ve been doing it behind my backs for weeks, I’ve tried to be understanding bubba, I have, I know it’s been tough for you with me and Jords breakup, you’ve had a really hard year, I let the vaping slide, I let your attendance drop at school, but drugs bub, it’s no joke.”
You took a deep breath.
“It’s just some weed, I don’t know what you want me to tell you.”
Leah wants to say that if you’re this relaxed about being caught doing weed then she doesn’t want to know what else you’re hiding from her that would make you less relaxed, but she keeps it to herself, or for this moment at least.
“I want you to bring me whatever you have of it, I won’t have you smoking illicit and illegal substances underneath my roof.”
You figured there were worse things that could happen, she could find your stash, she could take your vape, she could ground you or make you go to school.
“Okay.”
Your mom nodded, happy she had at least won a small battle.
“After lunch.”
You nod again in agreeance, looking down at the caesar salad in front of you and stabbing your fork down onto it, picking up the different pieces of lettuce and chicken scattered throughout.
You make it through half the meal before you grab your bowl and pick it up, walking into the kitchen to do you washing up, your mom follows behind you, her bowl empty.
You take the dish from her, cleaning it out and stacking both of them in the dishwasher, knowing whats to come now.
You slow yourself down on the stairs giving her the time to follow behind you as she dragged her bad leg up every individual stair.
Leah had been putting in hours everyday for her rehab, it was her main focus, over everything else.
Eventually the two of you made it to the top of the stairs, and eventually to your bedroom door.
You hesitated before opening it, you couldn’t remember the last time Leah had been inside it, way before her acl, ever since she’d gotten injured she’d been avoiding the staircase.
You opened the door, hand pausing on the cold metal doorknob for a split second before pushing it open.
Your room was still freezing, you didn’t miss how your mother shivered from the breeze that hit her face immediately, coming straight from the open window.
“Jesus kiddo, you trying to replicate antarctica in here? You know I pay good money for heating, right?”
It’s a lighthearted joke, yet somehow it hurts for you, you don’t know how or why, you just know that it does.
“I like it cold.”
Leah looks at you, both brows furrowed inwards.
“Alright then polar bear.”
You try not to flinch away when her hand reaches up to ruffle your hair, it’s something she’s done to you since you were a kid, it feels wrong now though.
“Let’s just get this over and done with.”
You walk over to your windowsill, reaching behind the curtain and reaching for the bag of joints that you have stashed behind the material. Leah frowns as you walk back over to her, shoving the bag into her hands before she can even ask.
“This is all of them?”
She looks completely unconvinced, you probably would be too, most kids don’t give up their drugs willingly.
“Yes.”
Leah looks at you, eye to eye, like she’s trying to reach into your soul, or read your mind.
“Bubba, this is your chance, I’m giving you an opportunity to be straight with me, and whatever you tell me or give me I won’t be mad about. I might want to sit down and question your decisions, but I won’t be mad. Teenagers are stupid, they make mistakes, they try new things, I get it. Be honest with me bubba, please.”
You didn’t really know what Leah was insinuating, but it was clear that she knew there was a bigger picture here.
“That’s it mom.”
You had to tear your eyes away from her, you couldn’t handle the way that she was looking at you, the mix of disappointment, resentment and worry mixed into her blue irises.
“Bubba, don’t make me search your room, don’t make me have to ground you, don’t make me have to call Jord and get her to turn the car around to help me out.”
You brought your eyes back to Leah’s.
“That’s it mom, I don’t know what you want me to tell you, I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
You were lying through your teeth and the fact you couldn’t look eye to eye with Leah would have been enough of a warning sign of that.
“Drugs bubba, that’s what I’m talking about, you’re lying straight to my fucking face right now, I don’t know what about or why but you are.”
You didn’t know what to say, you weren’t going to admit it, you couldn’t, but you needed to say something. Fuck, you were so fucked.
You tried to spin it in your head, tried to think about how you could make this work out. You were caught, you were done, this was bad.
Your eyes darted to below your bed, rookie fucking mistake.
Leah caught your line of sight, and you knew as soon as she did that it was all about to go to fucking shit, that you were done for.
“Lia.”
Your mom’s voice was urgent, a yell that had the swiss woman bounding up the stairs in a matter of seconds.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
You were so fucking fucked.
You were frozen in your spot, your mom’s eyes looking at you like she’d just been stabbed in the heart.
“Bubba, you can get whatever you are hiding from me or I will get Lia to tear this whole room a part, I’m not fucking around.”
You felt torn down the middle, your brain couldn’t think, you felt the same sickness sink in from this morning, instead of it being withdrawals from drugs though it was the realisation that your whole life was about to be turned upside down.
You tried to think, tried to think about how you could spin this, make it a little bit better than it really was.
Lia looked more uncomfortable then possible, you wished a blackhole would randomly pop up and swallow all three of you.
Something hit you, it wasn’t a full resolution but it was better than what you currently had going for you.
You walked over to your bed, with unsteadier legs then last night when you were so drunk the world was spinning, crouching down when you got to the edge, feeling for the familiar container that held all of your deepest darkest secrets, or at least that’s how it felt.
It took you back to a time when you’d made Leah check under your bed everynight for the monsters under your bed, now though she was looking for the monsters in your head, the monsters that had turned her little perfect girl into whatever you were now.
Your hand eventually met the hard plastic, you pulled it out, biting down on the inside of your cheek as you stood up and sat down on the edge of your bed.
Leah took a couple steps closer to you, standing directly in front of you.
“Look, it’s not mine, I only did it twice, my friends bought it over, I swear.”
Half of it was true.
“Open the box, bubba.”
You felt your throat tighten, you felt like you were going to vomit, or pass out, or have a heart attack.
“Mom, I didn’t want to, I don’t even like it, I just did it because my friends were, I swear.”
It was also another half truth.
“Bubba, open the box.”
You bit down even harder on the inside of your cheek, reaching for the edge of the plastic box and opening it, revealing the two baggies of white powder inside of it.
Leah’s face fell, in a way that you’d never seen, you’d seen her disappointed before, this wasn’t it, it was something else entirely and you weren’t sure what.
“Bubba.”
Your mom was a overly emotional person, you couldn’t handle her crying right now though, you couldn’t do it, you couldn’t deal with her pretending she gave a shit when this was the first time in months that it felt like she cared, and it was all because of Jordan, not on her own volition.
“I swear mom, I swear, it’s not mine, I promise.”
It wasn’t a lie, it hadn’t started out as yours, you’re friends had left it behind after a weekend hangout and had never asked for it back, so it technically wasn’t yours, technically.
“Bubba, what is it?”
Leah reached for the box, picking up the two bags, the bags that you felt like held your whole life together.
“Cocaine, it’s just a little bit of coke, my friends were using it before parties, I didn’t like it, it made me feel dizzy and it hurt my head.”
The cocaine bit was a lie, but the fact you didn’t like cocaine wasn’t, it was the kind of stimulant which put you into over drive, the high lasted no where near as long and it made you feel like you weren’t making sense.
You were hoping she would believe the cocaine, inevitably, cocaine was a pissy drug. Leah would have been at thousands of parties were cocaine was handed around, hell, you were fairly certain your mother had taken plenty of it. Cocaine was less addictive, good cocaine was also stupidly expensive, the value of it was fucked. Meth was cheap but a thousand times more addictive, cocaine was a better like.
“Lia, get rid of it.”
Your mom handed the bag of joints over to Lia, as well as the bags of drugs, shoving them into her hands like they were burning her hands. “I don’t even know what to say to you bubba.”
Your mom looked genuinely at a loss for words, her eyes kept darting between your eyes and your hands, which were shaking in front of you.
“Mom, I promise, it was only a one time thing, really, I was just keeping it for my friends.”
As soon as the tears started spilling down Leah’s face you knew it was about to get bad.
She walked over to your desk, pulling the chair out from it and dragged it across the room until it was directly in front of you, your mother taking a seat.
Her hands came out to rest on your knees, they were shaking like yours, not as badly but still shaking, though for different reasons you assumed.
“You told me the weed was a one time thing, that was a lie. I don’t know what to believe anymore, you’ve put me in a impossible situation, bubba. On one hand, I want to believe you. I want to believe the kid I raised, on the other hand you haven’t given me reason to. You broke my trust, you lied to me, you broke the house rules. I don’t ask a lot of you, I let you get away with more than your ma would let you, and I was fine with it because you were showing me you were a good kid, but now I honestly don’t know what to think. You told me it was just the vapes, I thought you were using a little bit to much nicotine and now it turns out that you’re smoking pot and doing drugs. You’ve been hiding and lying and I just don’t get why. Why bubba? Tell me why.”
Big tears were dripping from your mothers eyes, big, wet, fat tears pooling in her icey blue eyes.
“I don’t know, okay? I’m sorry mom, I’m really sorry. I’m sorry. I love you, I didn’t mean it, it was just some fun, it was a one time thing, I promise.”
Leah pursed her lips, the same way you were, the sleeve of her shirt was pressed to her face, picking up the tears that were dripping down her jaw.
“I’m going to go and call your ma, this is a discussion we need to be having together, I need her here for this.”
Little did they know how bad it really was.
Leah stood up, you thought she would just leave, heading back down to make a call to your ma that would inevitably change your life, instead, she sat down next to you, her arms opening up.
You leaned into her side, letting her wrap both of her arms around you.
“I’m sorry mom, I’m sorry.”
It was the only thing you could think of saying, the only thing that sounded right coming off the tip of your tongue.
“I love you so much my beautiful girl, we’ll figure this out, your ma and I, we’re all going to figure this out.”
Leah held onto you for a little bit longer, her arms tightening onto you like you were holding her down to earth, like she would float away if she didn’t.
Eventually she let go, her face was puffy and red, her sleeves were red and she sounded all sniffly.
“I’m going to go and phone Jord, we’re going to sort it all out, we’ll figure this out, okay? We’re both here for you, we both love you so much, you’re our little girl.”
You found it weird how easy it slipped off of her tongue, you wondered if she actually believed that she meant it, you wondered if when your mother said it that she meant it without really meaning it. There were words but there were no actions to support those words, just empty syllables and letters all formed together in a intricate lie.
You watched as Leah limped her way out of your room, her bad leg trailing behind her good one, rule number one of parenting a child you now know is drug addicted, never leave them alone in a room they can escape from when you’ve just confronted them.

You Left Me - You Miss Me - Six
Sup, I finally wrote the next part. Mostly because of someone trying to find it via the fic finder blog, which gave me a big ol spike in anxiety about the lack of update.
Part One .... Part Four - Part Five
---
“Rob, no.”
“Don’t you tell me ‘no,’ Steven Dingus Harrington!”
“You can’t drive to Hawkins and kill the guy.”
“Oh yes I can! I'll take your bat with me!”
“Babe, you still don’t know how to drive, and I have work in the morning so I can’t take you.”
“I’ll figure it out on the way!”
She wouldn’t. She wasn't going to drive to Hawkins. She would definitely, absolutely, one hundred percent kill Munson if she had the chance and Steve didn’t talk her out of it, but Robin wasn’t going to leave him alone when he’d had a breakdown an hour earlier. She wouldn’t let him sleep alone for the next few days, and she would go to work with him in the morning, and she’d probably skip her Stats class so she could stick by him after work too.
It took Robin about thirty seconds to realize something had happened.
That was the gap between her opening the car door, and Steve speaking. All he said was “hey, Robs” and she cut off her ramble about chlorofluorocarbons. The same way he could tell by the sound of her stirring soup, or which color eye shadow she wore, she knew immediately something had happened.
She touched his arm.
And he had a breakdown in the college parking lot.
Steve updated the tag on the side of the box and put it back on the shelf. He was, technically, working. Robin was ranting and using a tie-dye shirt as a prop.
“You don’t need to crash our car trying to go kill a guy I’m not even mad at.”
“Ugh,” she flapped the shirt at him and slouched against the edge of the shelving unit. “Why not? Why are you not mad at him? How? I’m mad at him! He took the kids away from you! They’re annoying little shitheads but you loved them and he jus---”
“Rob,” he interrupted softly. He couldn’t get into that side of it right now.
“Sorry. Sorry. But you’re not this nice, Stevie. You’re wonderfully bitchy and petty and it’s one of my favorite things about you, and I don’t get this. He sucks! This was super shitty! Why aren’t you mad at him for being an asshole?”
“It’s not his fault.”
“He said it was his fault!”
Eddie blamed himself, and maybe it was his fault, but it didn’t matter. Not in comparison.
“Are you going to inventory anything tonight, or is this just going to be me?”
“No! And why are you working?”
Because if he stopped, if he let himself turn his full attention towards it, he was going to fall apart again, and stupid as it was, checking inventory used up just enough of his focus that he couldn’t drown. Steve flicked through the stack of size smalls, and wrote it down on the list. “Uh, because we’re at work?”
“We both work tomorrow tonight and there is no way that Mary or Nick have ever looked at the stock sheets in their life, they aren’t going to look tomorrow either. No one will know.”
“I’ll know.” He glanced up to make eye contact for a second, and she caved with a groan.
“If you were anyone but my soulmate, buddy…” She folded the shirt terribly, shoved it into the gap between the cardboard and the other shirts, and finally closed the box.
Letting the silence settle gave Steve a minute to breathe, and reset himself without the rising tension. She knew that, and waited until, unspoken, she knew he was ready to keep going.
“Steve.”
“I am mad, Robs. I am. You know that it’s.. At the kids, and at Hopper, and at myself for agreeing to this stupid idea, but I’m not mad at him.”
“Why does he get special treatment?”
Hearing how that sounded, he tried again, “No, uh. I’m mad at him, but, like, the same way you get mad when the grandma in the crosswalk is going really slow and then drops something and goes back, and you end up stuck waiting again even though you should have made it through the light before. Yeah, it sucks, but it’s not like grandma was doing it specifically to fuck with you. She’s just, you know, shopping or whatever.
“It wasn’t like there was a friendship there that he betrayed. He did something for his own life and it was sorta sucky, and it sucks for me, but he feels really shitty about it, so I don’t think he meant for them to, you know, vanish.”
Robin thumbed down the stack of Levis, whispering the count as she went. Three more sizes got counted before she responded.
“You carried him out of there. You saved his life.”
Steve hummed absently. “He wasn’t bleeding that bad. His trash lid kept most of them off. I panicked when I saw blood and picked him up.”
“And that doesn’t make you friends?”
“It’s not like I only saved him because it was him. Not like I stopped and thought about whether I should get the bleeding guy to the hospital. Lifeguard, remember?”
The other half of the thought, he bit back. He’d had nightmares about Billy after Starcourt. Dreams where he could have saved him, and didn’t. Where he could have saved Max from having to see that, having to recover from that. He saw Eddie bleeding, he saw one of his kids screaming, and there wasn’t a thought in his head. Just the need not to let it happen again. Not again. Not Dustin too.
He kept his eyes on the inventory form so she didn’t see that part.
“Still think it should have mattered more. Life saving creates friendships.”
“He was unconscious. I know you don’t know much about how guys act with each other, but generally both dudes are awake when they become friends.”
She snorted at his weak joke, throwing her pencil at him. It wasn’t anywhere near her.
“New record, champ,  that one wasn’t even close enough for me to pretend to dodge it.”
“Ugh, I hate you.”
“Love you too, Robs.”
He got through a full set of kids dress shirts in peace, counted and listed. Then he pulled down the crate of kid’s dresses, next on the list to check.
The whole can of worms would tear open when, if, when Eddie showed up with something from the kids. There was no version of that day that wouldn’t end with him falling apart. If he skimmed them, if he burned them, if he read them, if he wrote back, if he refused to take them at all, it didn’t matter. He was going to fall to pieces.
If they wrote and it was real, if it was petty, if it was anger, if it was grief, if it was gloating he was gone, if it was begging him to come back, if it was proof that it was always fake, always a temporary placeholder until they found someone they actually like. The imminent breakdown was going to be bad no matter what.
Like those safety videos in school about seat belts.
Like knowing the car crash was coming, knowing it couldn’t be stopped, and knowing that nothing he did was going to make it any easier to bear. Slow motion, watching a car come -- a beat up old van come towards him. No time to put on a seat belt, no way to brace for it, just accept that it was going to happen and hope you survived.
Robin cleared her throat to get his attention, and Steve blinked back to himself.
“Did, uh, did you say something?”
Robin watched him for a minute. He let her this time. It was easier to let her see what he was feeling than try to turn it into words, and he needed her to let it go for now..
“I’m going to skip my bio lecture on Friday afternoon.”
“Birdie, you don’t--”
“You are going to call in sick at the skate rink. We are going to make snickerdoodles and brownies and the cracker bark thing, and order pizza, and we’re going to make ourselves sick eating too much, and we’re going to watch some random movie on mute and make up our own story and dialogue. Got it?”
“Got it,” he smiled.
And it wasn’t going to make it all better. Eating two pounds of butter in a day wasn’t going to make it easier when Eddie showed up, but it was like hitting pause on that video. Car crash was still coming, but he could look away for a while.
***
Steve clung to the pass shelf from the kitchen as the expected car crash hit him on Monday. John, always eager for the chance to throw someone out of the diner, looked over Steve’s shoulder. It was a nice moment. A nice little thought before he had to face what he’d agreed to. If he asked, John would throw Eddie out. Literally. Nice image, but not the one he got to see.
Instead, he declined the offer, and grabbed the plates.
“Gimme a minute,” he mumbled to Eddie, heading to the sweet elderly couple celebrating the birth of their second granddaughter with a leisurely breakfast. If he spent an extra minute talking to them, complimenting the polaroid of what seemed to be some kind of mashed potato swaddled in white and pink, it was to get a good tip, not because he was stalling.
Eddie hadn’t moved when he got back. He was a step back from the counter, stiff, holding a paper grocery bag under one arm, eyes trained on the ugly teal of the stool’s seat.
“Well?” Steve asked bitchily, “Did you bring milk and eggs and bread, honey?”
He put it on the counter, clutching the folded top hard, like he was making sure it stayed shut.
Like it was full of spiders or something. Mutual sentiment.
Steve grabbed it, tossing it onto the shelf where they kept personal belongings and the leftovers they’d called dibs on. He hadn’t expected Eddie Munson to be up to Franklin at eight am on a Monday. Eddie wasn’t a morning person. Steve thought he’d have a few more hours to brace. Now he had to deal with customers while that bag burned a hole in the back of his head.
Luckily, Rebecca was serious when she said he could get mean with guests if he wanted to. Today wasn’t a want. It was going to be a necessity.
Eddie was still standing there.
“You can tell them I got it, or whatever,” he tried to dismiss him.
Something that looked like the tortured remains of a smile flickered on Eddie’s face. He gave up after a second and nodded too many times. “Thanks. Thank you. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, right?”
It took a minute for Steve to catch up to the question.
“I haven’t said I’m going to answer them. Or open them. Or keep them.”
Eddie was quiet for a minute, still not looking up, and Steve’s Travel-Size-Robin was vibrating with the need to make him so they could guess what the hell he was thinking.
“Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday mornings?” he repeated.
“Yeah. Sure, yeah,” Steve gave up.
Eddie left, and Steve did the entire day’s front of house prep before Susan got in, trying to keep his head away from that damn bag.
***
Steve didn’t open it.
He fell asleep in Robin’s bed, grateful he didn’t have other work that evening, and doubly grateful when she made him eat some crackers and drink some water before they passed out for the night.
If he was waiting for the impact the day before, seeing Eddie again the next day was so unexpected that the crash whooshed past him without an impact. He didn’t sit down, and he looked a little rough, probably from driving to Franklin in the early morning twice in two days.
“Do you have…?”
“No? No,” Steve boggled at him, “How could I have anything for you to even -- No. Man, no.”
Eddie nodded.
Eddie left.
***
Steve stared at the bag instead of taking a nap before their shift in the stockroom. Didn’t open it, that was way, way beyond him, but he did manage to look directly at it, and it was only a few saltines, but he did successfully eat.
Robin, angel, light of his life, soulmate and perfect person got in the car after class, handed him a kinda gross protein bar that she stole from an athlete in her class who she didn’t like, and made him eat it.
She didn’t make him talk about the bag shaped elephant in their apartment, and she spent the entire shift explaining the way Ann Carson’s translations of Greek plays had totally shifted how people read them, making them more accessible, and how the push to do the same with Shakespeare was incredible.
When he went to crawl into his own bed that night, she grumbled, brought her favorite pillow, and climbed in after him.
***
Eddie walked in at quarter to seven, right after three four tops seated.
“No.”
“Okay. Yeah.” Eddie looked small, probably because he was speaking at a normal volume, sounding like a normal human, which ran opposite to how Eddie was in Hawkins. He also looked like crap.
“Why are you here, dude? You hate mornings. You don’t have to leave that early, I work until one.”
Eddie scrunched his face, but didn’t answer that.
“No?” he asked instead.
Someone at table six shouted ‘waiter!’
“I’ll bring your coffee in a damn minute!” Steve yelled back, half turning with the carafe in his hand.
“Steve?”
“Look, I don’t have anything for you. Nothing. You don’t need to waste your time. I haven’t opened it.”
“There’s more than one -- oh,” Eddie scrubbed over his face. “Okay. Yeah. Okay. Do-- Are you going to? Open it.”
Thinking about opening it made him want to run away to Canada.
Thinking about never knowing made him want to puke.
Whatever weird face Steve made was something Eddie could translate. He only raised his head for a moment, just long enough to look. But then he covered his face with both hands, taking a deep breath that shuddered on the exhale.
“See you Monday,” he said as a goodbye.
“Where’s my coffee?” the same guy yelled. Steve didn’t have the energy to deal with customers and whatever the fuck was going on with Eddie’s early morning emotional mess.
“Wait a second,” he complained to both of them at once. Steve grabbed one of the big mugs, the ones they used for the expensive hot chocolate, filled it with coffee, and set the pour jar of sugar next to it. He looked from Eddie to the cup, pointedly. “Don’t crash. Bring the cup back with you.”
The asshole yelled for him again, and Steve turned on the terrifyingly polite smile that Robin had helped him hone. Then he deployed it on the asshole at table six.
---------------
We are headed towards Steddie, on a path that will, hopefully, not feel like I brushed off all this to get there. However. Wow, they're hurting right now. You can't have Eddie's pov yet, it would spoil things, but. just. trust me. ow.
Still don't do tag lists. Once I know how many parts it'll be, this will go to Ao3, promise.

caught a bug
tasm!peter x fem reader
part two to this.
a/n: i am seriously sooo
Tumblr media
*
“no, peter.”
“why not? no one will even be there. it’ll be just me and you… and possibly a couple of butterflies.”
he’s been trying to convince you to go to the butterfly pavilion with him for the last fifteen minutes. he even pulled up their website, showing you pictures of bugs that all looked the same and smiling adorably. he’s got a flush on his cheeks from all of his arguing.
where he got this idea, you’re not sure. why he’s so incessant on it, you know. he’s peter parker.
he practically lives to annoy you.
“i think i would rather die than feel a butterfly crawl on me.”
“we’ll get you some insect repellent.”
“then what’s even the point of going?” you ask him. you’re scrolling mindlessly on your phone; mostly just to avoid looking at him.
and drive him a little bit insane. whichever.
peter scoffs. “to go with me, of course. don’t you want to see a six foot long snake in a tree?”
“no, can’t say that’s ever been on my bucket list. or anyone’s.”
“it’s yellow,” he says, leaning towards you on your bed. he slyly—not—moved from your desk twenty minutes ago. and you try to pretend that you haven’t noticed him inching over. “please will you go with me? i’ll buy you a butterfly gift chain.”
“why would i go to a bug museum?” you ask him, lip twitching. you’re still not looking at him. “i’ve already got one of my own.”
from the corner of your eye you see his brow furrow. “who?”
you shrug. “you don’t know him.”
“i’m sure i do,” peter says, “who?”
“well, he lives off campus,” you look over to him, smiling. “i met him in class and he helped me with my homework… you know, things just went from there. he’s tall. rocking bod.”
peter is frowning.
you sign wistfully. “he’s also terribly annoying and he’s always buzzing around.”
and then you glance at him and he’s glaring.
“that’s not nice.”
“i might need to get one of those electric fly swaggers. you know the ones that look like tennis rackets? and they electrocute bugs?”
peter has his arms crossed. “i got that from the name.”
you pout, leaning towards him so you can ruffle his hair. “aww, peter,” you coo, “what’s wrong?”
he pushes your hand off, pretending to adjust his hair—even though there’s no real point to it. “what did i do to make you this mean to me?”
“i think it was the ‘sweetheart’ thing when we met.”
“what?” he frowns. “that’s endearing. like when your grandma says it.”
“it’s condescending. i don’t want a random man calling me sweetheart. especially when he’s trying to get a seat right next to me. i thought you were a frat boy.”
peter just stares at you with his mouth open.
“you’ve got the hair for it.”
his mouth closes, jaw clenched, and he glares at you again.
you laugh, hanging your head at him. “and anyway, why do you want to go to the butterfly pavilion? i didn’t even know we had one of those.”
peter looks away, swallowing. he shakes his head, and then he looks back to you, his usual smile is tight-lipped. “you don’t want to go to dinner, and you don’t want to get coffee. i just thought…”
“so your next resort was the butterfly pavilion?”
peter holds his hands up in defense. “hey, i figured no one’s ever asked you. i’m trying to beat the crowd.”
“it is literally just you and me.”
“the figurative crowd,” he rolls his eyes. duh. but then his weird smile is back, and he’s seriously looking at you. he clears his throat, readjusting, uncomfortable. “i’ve been meaning to ask you, though. why won’t you go to dinner with me?”
“huh?”
“or get coffee. i mean, i know we joke, but if there’s a reason…” he gestures with his head. “or another guy or something, i want to know. or if you’re just not…”
that into me.
peters face is so painfully neutral. he’s looking at you, except that he’s not. and you’ve never seen him quite like this.
you joke with him all of the time. mess with him like he’s someone you’ve known for decades, and not just four months. but his smile has never looked so fake.
apparently you’ve been staring at him for too long, because peter makes a noise. “sorry,” he whispers, but too loud. “i don’t mean to make you uncomfortable. i just don’t want to keep dancing around it, y’know?”
“you didn’t—“ you clear your throat, looking away from him. “it’s fine.”
he nods, and then he waits.
he gives you several heart attacks, and peter, well, this must be normal for him. making girls feel like their organs are going to fall out of their chest. asking them to random places that of course he likes, because he likes everything.
looking at them so patiently, just like he’s looking at you now. giving them that friendly smile, that evil smile that made you afraid of him in the first place.
you sigh. “i don’t know. i thought you were joking, mostly.”
“for the last three months?”
you look over at him, eyes deadpanned. “peter. you realize how unserious you are, right? like, this cannot be news to you.”
he nudges you. “i know. but there’s only so many times you can make the same joke before it gets old…”
you don’t want to tell him that it has gotten old. that you feel your heart sink a little lower every time he laughs about it, because reality is just…
just.
“well, you’re usually unbearable. how am i supposed to know when you’re being serious, or just annoying?”
peter laughs with his teeth.
“plus, it’s just…” you blow out a breath. “i mean, we’re different, peter. i don’t like doing things like going to dinner or museums. i’m not any good at them. actually, the only thing i feel any good at is being mean to you. that’s easy.”
“well, you’re doing a great job.”
you snort.
peter leans over to try and catch your eye. “it doesn’t matter if you’re good at it. i don’t care about that. and it just means that you need practice.”
“i’m not falling for the ‘we’ll just practice this’ bullshit trope, peter—“
“c’mon,” he says, groaning. “like i’d let you practice with me.”
you roll your eyes at him but lean back against the wall. letting your shoulder brush his.
“hey,” he whispers, moving closer.
“hmm?”
“you like me, though, right? you already know i like you.”
“do i?”
“i wouldn’t endure all of the pain you put me through if i didn’t.”
“true,” you say, sighing. “yeah, i like you, peter. i wouldn’t have let you in if i didn’t.”
peter smiles, a bit smugly and you scowl at him, hating the way that smile makes you feel.
“good,” he whispers, turning toward you. “that means i can do this…”
when peter parker kisses you, it’s like letting go of any doubts. it’s like getting a limb back after years of phantom pain.
it’s sweet and sort, and peters lips are as soft as they look, and so is his hair—
when he pulls back, he’s still wearing that smile. “so, will you go out with me?”
you tilt your head and pretend to think about it. “are you still going to buy me that keychain?”
peter laughs and he kisses you again.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn’t all that often that you got a good night's rest this late into your pregnancy. Every night was the same as the last, up and down, side to side, kick here and a pain there. You woke with a hiss as  the feeling of what felt like the left side of the rib-cage breaking in half. Your hand imminently came up to caress your stomach, thirty seven weeks along, with no sign of labour in sight.
“Shh—go back to sleep, little one.” You whined as you slowly circled your hand over your swollen belly. As the kicking persisted the realisation set in that you wouldn’t be getting any sleep anytime soon. “Without fail hey?” It was almost a nightly ritual at this point. You’d toss and turn for a few short hours before you’d accept your fate.
As you sat up carefully and ever so slowly so as to not wake your boyfriend, you checked the time on your phone. You were, at the very least— unimpressed at the time staring back at you, 2:30am. A slight moan left your mouth as you rolled over to see the love of your life, Robert Floyd, sleeping soundly next to you. A soft but all consuming smile crept across your face at the sight of him. He was just unapologetically Bob. His soft nature and caring personality was what drew you to him in the first place, and now, in the early hours of the morning, you fell just a little more in love with him with every soft snore that escaped past his slightly parted lips. The love you had for your partner Bob radiated through you like the strongest drug of all. It was so powerful and so consuming that your little bundle of joy that was due earth side any day now felt that love and got a little too excited. A hard kick planted itself into your side.
“Yeah bubba, I know.” You tried to contain the small gasp of pain that threatened to echo out into the quiet of the night as you rubbed your stomach in a sweet soothing motion. “Daddy’s still sleeping, I wish I was too.” You swore if you could see your baby girl right now, she’d be poking her tiny tongue out at you. Every bit the cheeky girl her dad used to be when he was a little boy.
“Ow!” You winced, your little bundle of joy really enjoyed using you as her personal punching bag. “Bub, please stop yeah? It’s not funny anymore, well it never was to begin with, but yeah just cut it out okay?” You spoke to your expected daughter a lot, you’d read somewhere that while in the womb expected children can hear voices and recognise important people like mum and dad. a”let’s go get something to eat before daddy wakes up.” You spoke softly to yourself under your breath as you waddled your way into the kitchen.
At the beginning of your pregnancy, Bob had begun  stockpiling the fridge and pantry with weird and wonderful food so you would never go without. You bit your lip as you looked through the plentiful pantry, your eyes fell on the fresh container of peanut butter. Placing it on the counter you opened the fridge, your mouth instantly salivated at the sight of the pickle jar. Specifically dill pickles, specifically the kind Bob's grandma made. There was nothing better than a crisp home-brined pickle and your little girl couldn't agree more as you used the small, strategically placed stepping stool to help yourself up onto the kitchen bench. It wasn’t long at all before you had the lid of the peanut butter off and were dipping the pickles straight into the peanut butter.
Your little girl kicking at your stomach as if to say she was happy with your late-night or rather early morning decision.
“I know, good right?” You giggled to yourself as you dipped another pickle into the peanut butter. It wasn’t long at all before you heard heavy footsteps pattering down the hall from your bedroom. “Opp, it’s the fed's baby girl.” You teased loud enough so that Bob could hear. “Hide the evidence.” A gentle hand landed on your shoulder, massaging the tense muscle softly as you leaned into your boyfriend’s touch.
“What unholy thing are you snacking on this early in the morning baby?” You heard the early morning grumble in a sleepy Robert Floyd’s voice as he wiped his hand over his eyes.
“Hey, don’t knock it till you try it, besides—“ you took another bite of the peanut covered pickle. “Your daughter was the one craving it, not me.” Everything you had eaten in the past month had been at the decision of your unborn child. She was picky and very weird. The amount of watermelon you had consumed had to have been a world record and you couldn’t stand the smell of any kind of cooked meat right now. It was later in your pregnancy that your cravings and food aversions really started to hit and hit hard.
Bob moved himself between your legs as they dangled over the edge of the counter-top to rest his hands on your hips.
“Why do you insist on making your mama eat weird food combinations baby? And not to mention she doesn’t like to be woken up at all hours of the morning. She needs her beauty sleep angel, well not that she isn’t beautiful, but you get the point.” Bob babbled as he leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your belly. She kicked in response to hearing her daddy's voice. “You know—” Bob smirked as he came back up to leave a kiss on your lips, trailing tender kissing down the left side of your neck. “You look awfully sexy while you’re pregnant, not that you weren’t sexy before, but you have this glow about you that I can't resist.” Bob continued his assault on your neck.
A soft moan left your mouth as your lips parted at the feeling of Bob’s warm lips against your neck. He ran his hands up your oversized shirt which was coincidentally, his, and placed them atop your baby bump.
“I can’t wait to meet our beautiful girl, she’s going to be just as perfect as you, I know it.”
“Mmm, I’m not perfect Bob.” You tried to argue as you bit into the next pickle. Bob chuckled at the sight of you obnoxiously chewing, purposefully exaggerating your facial expressions. It didn’t take him long at all to cave in to the curiosity.
“Okay let me try—“ Bob gestured to the pickle in your hand. “C’mon, give me a bite.” You dipped it into the peanut butter once more and placed it in his awaiting mouth. Bob's face contorted into something of disgust as you chuckled softly. He ran to the sink to spit the pickle out. “Oh god, that’s definitely a flavour combination I’m not keen to try again.” Spitting into the sink, Bob washed his mouth out with the running tap.
You couldn’t control your laughter, tears had begun to form in your eyes. “Oh? you think that's funny, huh? We’ll see who’s laughing in a second.” Bob teased as he sauntered back over to you and started his assault on your body. His fingers moved all over your body sending shivers and Goosebumps all over.
“Robert! Stop it, stop B-Bob!” You laughed out loud through gasps and giggles as he continued tickling you. In the early hours of the morning Bob let out a boisterous laugh. He loved you. Oh so much.
“Who's laughing now huh?”
“Bob, I can’t breathe s-stop p-please—.” As you pleaded with your boyfriend, you felt as if you wet yourself, however, unlike all the other times you have due to your baby girl pressing inconveniently on your bladder, this time felt more intense. The feeling kept going until you saw water dripping down the bench.
“Bob! oh—oh my god, I think, I think my water just broke.” Bob's eyes imminently widened as he stared at you in fear. Like the last nine months hadn’t been building up to this very moment.
“What? You aren’t due for another two weeks?” Worry was prominent in his tone. You could tell he was starting to panic, the thought of him having a life dependent on him starting to set in. You knew you needed to calm Bob before things progressed into something more severe, so you reached out to grab his face with both your hands and rubbed the pads of your thumbs against his cheeks.
“Bob homey, listen to me.” Those ocean blue eyes were truly home to you. “My water just broke— so you need to take me to the hospital yeah? Fanboy and I put an emergency hospital bag together a few weeks ago in case I went into labor while we were out so it's in the back of the Jeep.”
“Oh, okay, i-i'll go wake h-him up.” Bob and Fanbky had lived together off base since they first came back to North Island a few years ago. They’d been friends for as long as you’d known Bob for. “Holy shit—I can’t believe this is act-actually happening.” He stuttered as he lent into your hands, the feeling of you caressing his check comforted him. Of course, you’d go into labor and STILL have to take care of Bob, you were his rock, his entire world, you’d always be there to take care of the love of your life so nothing was different about this situation.
Bob helped you down off the kitchen countertop as a sharp pain radiated throughout your lower abdomen. It took your breath away for a moment. You circled your hand over your stomach and took a deep breath in.
“Ohh— little girl you just had to come tonight didn’t you?”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~
“Mickey? could you maybe drive a little be faster, please?” The contractions had come quickly. Bob was sitting in the back with you, stressed as all hell, rubbing small circles against your lower back as you tried breathing through the pain as best you could. All Mickey did was smile at you through the rear-view mirror.
“Y/n, even when you’re in labour you're still so nice.” Mickey grinned— he was so excited to meet his best friend's first child. His daughter.
“How you feeling bub?” What kind of a stupid question that was, you thought to yourself.
“Umm not good, I just want to get to the ho-hospital.” Tears now traveled down your face. “I’m scared baby, I don’t think I can’t do this.” Your contraction eased, you were thankful for the moment to breathe as you settled back against the backseat.
“Baby, Y/n, listen to me yeah?” Bob held your face softly between his slightly calloused hands, the pads of his thumbs collecting your tears. “You are the strongest person I know, you carried our baby girl for nine months, nine months baby! You can do this and I'll be with you through the whole thing.”
“yeah! so will I!” Mickey tried to lighten the mood, he thought if he could make you laugh you’d feel a little better before yet another contraction washed over you. “Y/n please try not to have a baby on my new seats?” Fanboy joked as he tried to keep you smiling. You knew Mickey was joking the moment he said it. He was such a good support system.
You let out such a loud moan that you were convinced the car next to you at the red light could hear you.
“I’ll try not to Mick b-but I’m n-not going to p-promise you anythi-OH-MY, GOD! Bob, help me.” As you wailed you grabbed onto Bob's forearm and squeezed through your pain. It felt like a million more hours had passed you by before you were finally arriving at the emergency room waiting bay at the Miramar Base Hospital.
“Baby, we’re here okay, as soon as Mickey pulls up i'll help you out.” Bob kissed your temple, sweaty and hot, as you leaned into him already exhausted from the last hour and a half since your water first broke. As Bob hopped out to help you, Mickey ran up to a nurse going inside the hospital. Probably coming back from taking a breath of fresh air.
“Excuse me miss? My best friend's fiancée is in labour, she needs help.” You didn’t even register at first what he called you. You were just Bob's girlfriend, not his fiancée. You couldn’t help but scoff at yourself for thinking too much into what Fanboy had called you while you were literally about to give birth.
“What’s so funny? Bob asked. “You okay babe?” Again, no. No you weren’t okay. But Bob was just doing his best to be the support you needed right now.
“Nothing hun, just excited to meet our little girl who’s currently trying to tear me to shreds right now.” It wasn’t an exaggeration—you felt as if you were about to be split in two.
But it was about to be so worth it.
***~***~***~***~***~***~*
Three hours later:
“AAHHHH, fucking hell can’t she come any faster!” you were in so much pain at this point. You were currently bent over the hospital bed leaning your head on the bars and moving your hips around in a circular motion. Bob was being nothing but supportive, feeding you ice chips every once and a while and rubbing your lower back. He hated seeing you in so much pain. Even if you were a  sweaty cracked out mess Robert Floyd still thought you were the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
“You're doing great baby, I know she’s being stubborn, but she’ll be here soon.” A nervous laugh left your mouth.
“Screw you, Floyd, she’s already just like her dad, stubborn and what feels like big headed!” Bob fed you another ice chip as he ran his finger over your bottom lip as you took it from his hand.
“I’ll let that comment slide considering you're bringing our daughter into the world.” Bib moved your hair over your shoulder to gain access to your neck. His peppered gentle kisses along the side as your latest contraction subsided. Things were progressing smoothly, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
You were glistening with a layer of sweat from your contractions as your body prepared itself for birth. exhausted from the pain, you leaned into Bobs touch, his arms snake their way around your body to support your weight.
“Come on bub lets get you in bed yeah?” Bob moved the covers back and you slid in slowly, almost scared that any movement you made could trigger your next contraction. As Bob was placing the thin blanket over your legs the nurse came in to check on your process.
“You’re about eight centimetres dilated honey, we can start to push at ten so your very close.” You almost didn’t respond. You were far too tired to think as you rolled over onto your left side as another contraction washed over you. Bob noticed you struggling to breathe and placed the oxygen mask they nurse had previously set up for you on.
Bob pushed your hair back and tied it up in a loose ponytail, he was just trying to make you as comfortable as possible. You looked at him. He was so perfect, you couldn’t imagine going through this amount of pain for anyone else. He was your biggest supporter, your best friend, your therapist. You were his soulmate, his biggest Stan, his number one girl. From the moment you met Robert Floyd you instantly gravitated to each other, a wonderful flirtatious friendship which bloomed into a beautiful relationship complete with all its perfect imperfections.
He would stop by the small coffee shop on his way to work every morning and you’d be there, with his order ready to go and made to perfection.
At this point, you were coming close to your three-year anniversary, your gift to Bob? Telling him you were pregnant. The poor guy almost had a heart attack but was ecstatic, to say the least.
You caught yourself reminiscing and focused back on Bob “I love you so much.” You mumbled into the mask. He smiled back at you letting out a chuckle.
“You won’t be saying that in a few moments baby.” Bob was already prepared for the worst. You were always the nicest out of the two of you and that was saying something. You felt your whole body tighten at the feeling of what felt like the most painful contraction yet and that was it, you couldn’t hold in the cry that you let out. It was a guttural scream as you tried to breathe through it the best you could.
Bob’s face filled with heartache as he watched the women he loved unconditionally go through agonising pain, he’d give his life to ease your pain just the slightest bit, yet there was absolutely nothing he could do to help. And it killed him.
“Babe, I’m going to get the nurse okay.” He started to move away but you pulled him back by his arm. “Honey—“
“Don't you dare leave me, Robert Floyd, I n-need you here now.” Your eyes filled with tears as the light layer of sweat turned into dripping beads. Just as Bob turned back to say he’d be right back you felt a sudden urge to push.
“Bob, I need this baby out of me right now! I can’t do this anymore!!” Sobbing, you screamed out in pain just as the nurse ran in.
“Darling I heard you from the reception, do you feel like you need to push? She said as she sat down on the swivel stool and rolled herself in between your legs at the end of the bed.
“YES! YES, I need this fucking thing out of me NOW!” You felt bad for Bob at this point. He was just standing there holding your hand as you endured the most amount of pain he’d ever seen someone go through. He must have pressed the call for help button moments prior as three other nurses ran into the room.
“Okay Y/n on the count of three I want you to push for me, can you do that? Dad, I want you to count down from ten for me out loud okay? Y/n don’t stop pushing till he’s finished counting” you nodded your head. “Okay in three, two, one push Y/n push” Bob held onto your hand a little tighter as he began to count down from ten, you pushed as hard as you could.
 “7, 6, 5….”
“BOB COUNT FASTER!” Screaming at the top of your lungs, you continued to push, gripping his hand as tight as you could in the process.
One—alright Y/n stop pushing, have a break, you did so well darling.” The nurse said as she inspected exactly how far along your baby was. You fell back onto the pillow, just to look up at Bob.
“Make. It. stop.” Your breathing weighed heavily on your chest. Bob looked at you with wide eyes. He felt helpless.
“I wish I could baby I’m so sorry, you're doing so well yeah? Just a few more pushes and she’ll be with us forever.” You had to push again, this time wasn’t any easier, but you knew that every second you pushed as hard as you could you would meet your baby girl quicker. That this would be over. That the pain in this moment would be worth it. That the last nine months were entirely worth it.
“I hate you, I hate so much, you did this to me.” You looked at Bob, the love of your life, almost ready to pass out. “You are never coming anywhere near me again after this.” Bob couldn’t have looked more upset. He knew you were in agony though. He knew you were just going through it.
“Don’t worry daddy, she’ll still love you after this, probably even more.” The nurse between your legs chuckled. “I hear it all the time.”
“The hell I will!!!” You interrupted the nurse making her and Bob both laugh. He was so in love with you.
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
You were on your final push.
“Okay Y/n final push and your baby girl will be here, are you ready?” Drenched in sweat, completely and utterly exhausted you mumbled up to Bob who had yet to let go of your hand the entire time.
“Just get this thing out of me.” Pushing as hard as you could, a scream erupting from your throat and suddenly, the pain was just……gone. A small cry filled the room and your head hit the pillow, exhausted. A few moments passed and the nurse returned to place the newly wrapped bundle of joy onto your chest, yet to be cleaned of all the blood and gunk from inside you. But oh she was perfect just the way she was.
“Oh, oh hi little one I’m your mama.” Tears of joy streamed from your eyes as you looked at your baby girl for the first time. She was perfect, everything you could have imagined and more.
“She so tiny, hi baby girl, I’m your daddy.” Bob whispered as he gently touched his little girl's tiny head. “Baby, you did so well, I'm so proud of you.” He kissed your forehead in thankfulness. “Thank you so much for giving me the best gift of all, thank you for giving birth to the best little girl in the world.” Bob couldn’t control his tears as he planted another kiss on your forehead. “I love my girls so much.”
“I don’t hate you, I could never hate you.” laughter escaped from both your mouths. “Here, you wanna hold her?” Bon nodded with a gentle smile that had crept across his face. You lifted your baby girl up towards Bob's strong awaiting arms, he held her so close, so gently. Your heart overflowed with happiness. He’d never let anything bad happen to her. Not to his little girl.

Two hours later
After receiving some stitches and getting cleaned up you were happily resting with your newborn on your chest getting precious skin to skin time.
“Y/n are you sure you don’t want me to leave?” At this point it felt like the whole world had seen your vagina, so you didn’t really care if Fanboy had stuck around in the waiting room for updates. Now, he stood by the window, wondering if he was crossing some invisible boundary as you tried your hand at breastfeeding.
“No Micky,  I really don’t care, trust me, I’m just happy this little one is here”. Bob had gone to get you three some food, naturally asking Mickey to watch over his girls while he was gone. He was busy giving the rest of the Daggers updates on how you and your newborn were travelling.
“Hey Mick? When we arrived here this morning you said something to the nurse. It was probably an accident and I’m totally over-analyzing the situation, but you referred to me as Bob's Fiancée?” Fanboy spat the water he was drinking from one of those little plastic cups all over the room, completely shocked with the statement. Did he actually? In the whirlwind did he actually let that one slip?
“I uhhh, i-I did? Huh, that’s so weird, I honestly didn’t even notice I did that.” At this point, after having known Mickey Garcia for well over three years, you could read him like the back of your hand, you knew he was lying. But just as you were about to answer back, your baby girl started to cry, wanting to be fed.
“Here, ill leave, give you some privacy” Fanboy thought he was doing you a favour as he begun walking towards the door of your maternity room when you stopped him. You weren’t all that ready to be alone yet. What if something happened?
“Please stay Mick? I really don’t want to be alone and plus Bib would kill you if you went against his wishes and left his girl alone.” The tiny baby latched straight onto your nipple no problem. She was just perfect.
“Okay, but i'll face the window, I feel like a pervert.”
“Then don’t perv then?” Minutes later she was done feeding, You gently gave her a quick burp and asked Mickey if he could put her in her baby bed, so you could at least get a few minutes of sleep. She had after all woken you up at a crisp two thirty in the morning.
“I don’t want to hurt her, are you sure you want me to?”
“Of course I do! you’re her uncle, plus I know that we’re going to need your help a lot so you may as well start practicing now.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
You must have been out for a while, when you woke up, a smiling Robert Floyd was nursing his baby girl. Holding her close as he paced around the room.
“I'll protect you with everything I have darling, you’ll always be loved and cared for. Your mamma was my best girl, my one and only love, I didn’t think I could love another girl as much as I love her but then you came into my life and I'd happily use her as a shield to protect you.” He laughed at his own joke.
Great, the first dad joke and it was only the beginning of your forever of your lives together, you thought to yourself. A tiny cry came from the little human in his arms. “Shhh, shhh don’t wake your mama up darling, she’s been through a lot to get you here to me, she deserves her rest now my sweet, sweet girl.” Bob bounced her as he walked around the room slowly.
“We still have to pick a name for you baby, I like Lily or Sky, we can’t name you Natasha because that would give Aunty Nix too much power, and we don’t want that now do we?” You laughed, startling Bob a little that he jumped a bit.
“Sorry I scared you, but very true. If it means anything I love the name Lily.” Bobs eyes went wide as a smile grew from ear to ear.
“Did we just name our daughter?” Biting into your bottom lip you nodded in agreement. He walked over to you dawning beaming smile. Bob was completely filled with all the  love in the universe for his two beautiful girls.
Bob placed Lily down onto your chest and you noticed something odd around her tiny fingers. You took a moment to process what it was. A shiny diamond ring, the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. besides your beautiful daughter.
“Bob?” Was all that fell out of your mouth before your eyes started to well for the seventh hundred time today. He brought his chair up to the side of your bed and rested his hand on the side of your face, caressing your wet check just as you had done to him back at home earlier that morning.
“Y/n will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?” Bob had told Fanbky earlier that week he was planning on asking you to marry him. That why in the flurry, Mickey had let it slip.
You knew this day would come, you felt it in your heart. You loved Robert Floyd so fiercely and so tenderly and you knew he loved you just as much.
He reached out gently to place the beautiful engagement ring his grandmother had given him on your finger. And with the happiest of tears with your newborn resting on your chest, you got the chance to say yes.
“Robert Floyd, I thought you’d never ask.”

you’d have to stop the world just to stop the feeling.
author’s note/s: 2k+ words. trigger warning for some internalized homophobia. butterflies with girls hit different, hit better, but why was embracing it so difficult?
You liked Hazel Callahan.
Her friends knew it, your friends knew it, everybody who saw the way you two acted around each other knew it. You assumed even Hazel knew, since she’s stopped being shy about her own very likely similar feelings a while back.
But coming off from a break up with your longtime boyfriend and moving on to a girl right after just felt so strangely cliche, if that was even the right word for it. No, it definitely wasn’t, but you couldn’t be bothered to wrack your brain for a more appropriate one with the current situation at hand.
“I’m just saying, it’s fine. People know you’re into both teams — all teams now,” Isabel says. “Maybe just the one team? Anyway, there’s no right waiting time for you to start dating a girl after dating a guy. Mine was like, less than two weeks honestly.”
You snort, glancing at your friend lounging on your bed. If anyone understood what it felt like, it would be Isabel. “Well, unlike you, I only just realized that it’s not just guys for me. You said you always knew.”
Isabel considers your words, her head tilting to the side in thought. “True, but my point still stands. Plus people are gonna be a lot less judgy now that it’s college and not high school, everyone is discovering things about themselves and getting into new things. I really don’t think you have anything to worry about.”
If only assumptions could be confirmed right away. It was sweet of her to be so encouraging, and you did appreciate it, but your issue wasn’t really with everyone else. It was with yourself and feeling more… comfortable with all these new feelings. People often said you’d feel freer once you came out but they never talked about the process of fully coming to terms with it after, like it was an everyday type of thing. It still felt like a new pair of shoes that needed breaking in.
“Look, it’s no rush. But… don’t push Hazel out throughout all of this, okay? She likes you, and I know that you—”
“I know, I know.” You sigh. “She’s pretty hard to ignore, as we’re both well aware.”
Isabel smiles at you knowingly. “She just really likes being around you.”
Tumblr media
It was funny how different things could feel inside while everything else around you stayed the same. Your earliest class was still at 8:30 and your latest at 3:00 in the afternoon, your roommate still ate an apple with her cereal every breakfast, your grandma still texted every night. And Hazel still waited by the bench outside your last class’ building, that giddy smile lighting up her face once she spotted you.
Your stomach flipped. You weren’t sure if it was nerves or excitement.
“Hey,” she says, jogging up to you with a grin. “I got us some scones from Popeyes. I think they made them a little bigger than usual today for some reason, so if you’re hungry, you’re in luck.”
“Oh, thanks, Haze. That’s really nice of you.”
Hazel shrugs, shifting the Popeyes bag to her left hand. “Well, anything for you, you know.”
God, how was she making it harder and easier at the same time?
“Would you mind if we ate it in the dorms? Yours or mine, I’m fine with whatever. I just really wanna relax after such a long day.”
“Yeah, yeah, of course! Um, could I uh…” She fiddles with the hem of her shirt for a second, and you think she might ask if she could carry your books or your bag for you in that silent conversation she appeared to be having with herself. Cute.
What came out next wasn’t either suggestion but it made your stomach flip again, in greater intensity now, and you were positive your heart actually skipped a beat too. If that was even biologically possible.
“Could I hold your hand on the way there? If that’s okay with you?”
Oh you could kiss her— you really could, and you would eventually. But time and place and all that.
You reach for her free hand in reply, smiling shyly as you lace your fingers together. The way Hazel’s eyes soften at the edges and her face literally brightens almost makes you forget about coming across anybody who might give the two of you curious glances. Hazel’s propensity for rambling about the happenings of her own day definitely helped, too.
Hard emphasis on almost, though. You knew you probably wouldn’t be bumping into your ex so soon since he did study elsewhere, but the fact that his brother went to your university totally slipped your mind.
You freeze when you hear that familiar voice call your name, the momentary panic overriding the guilt you felt at swiftly taking your hand away from Hazel’s when you turned in its direction. Breaking up with someone didn’t necessarily mean you were breaking up with all the other people that connected the two of you, and considering how you were being treated like always, his brother didn’t seem to be bitter or angry on his behalf. And thank god, cause you did not wanna deal with that with Hazel or anyone else around.
The conversation’s over quickly and soon you’re back on your way to the dormitories, but you keep your hand swaying alongside hers this time. It felt weird to just go back to holding her hand and you were also trying really hard not to overthink the dampened expression on Hazel’s face.
She only really speaks again once the two of you are in the comforts of her dorm room. “I’m just gonna be blunt here and say it… you know that I like you, right? Like in that kind of way?”
You did know, but the question takes you by surprise that all you can do is nod at her slowly.
“And I… I’m not trying to rush anything, I know you just broke up with your boyfriend about a month ago— and I’m totally not assuming your feelings are the same as mine, god I… sorry—”
“Hazel,” you say, walking towards her with an understanding look on your face. “I know what you’re trying to say. Thank you. And you don’t have to worry about anything in the feelings department, I promise.”
You take both of her hands in your own, holding on to them tightly. She gives them a squeeze in response. “One step at a time though, yeah?”
Hazel smiles at you, and maybe it was because of how intently she was staring at you, but there might’ve been a shine of tears in her eyes. “Yeah. I’ll be there every step of the way.”
The rest of the afternoon to early evening goes by just fine, but there’s this weird feeling in the air that you just can’t shake.
Tumblr media
“Why are you doing the one thing I told you not to do?”
Your gaze shoots up from your laptop and then around the library, checking if anyone might’ve been looking. Isabel could cause a scene if she wanted to but thankfully, she was only whisper-shouting. Though if the conversation was going where you thought it was, it might not be whispers for too long.
After that day in her dorm room, you have been avoiding Hazel a bit. You did it little by little to avoid suspicion but you knew she was more perceptive and observant than she let on. It was just that damn encounter with your ex’s brother that made you realize further how much things would change, and as much as you liked Hazel— and you really, really did, there was an embarrassing part of you that wished things didn’t have to change.
It was so much easier with boys, that was true. But it felt so much better with girls.
“Look, Bel, the two of us agreed that we weren’t going to just jump into a relationship.” You tell her, although you know it wouldn’t sway her. “It just… it needs time.”
“And Hazel’s giving you that. Willingly. But she’s trying to be there for you and you’re just pushing her away.”
“Isabel,” you start, but she’s determined to have the final word.
“Take it from someone who knows: it’s a lot easier to accept that you like girls than it is to accept that you like them a lot more than you like guys.” She lets a moment pass, and then, “If you still even like guys at all.”
Now that definitely struck a chord. She’s right and you know it, and she knows you know it.
“I’ll talk to Hazel,” you say quietly. “I will. Today. I promise.”
Tumblr media
The walk to Hazel’s dorm room has always made your insides tingle but this time, you knew you wouldn’t be soothed by the easy smile on her face that would greet you once she opened the door. At least it was likely that you wouldn’t with how you’ve been treating her.
You knock twice. “Haze? It’s me.”
You hear some shuffling behind the door and a breath taken exhaled before it opens, revealing the woman of the hour. Of every hour to you lately, in spite of everything.
“Hey.” She offers you a tired, half-hearted smile. You hate that she wasn’t beaming at the sight of you like usual. “Got your text. You sure you’re not too busy with something at the moment?”
You shake your head. “No. I really do wanna talk to you, Hazel.”
Hazel stares at you for a moment before opening the door wider and stepping to the side so that you can go in. When the door closes with a click behind you, you know there’s no running away this time.
You take a deep breath, wringing your hands together as you say, “I’m not gonna make any excuses. The way I’ve been shutting you out has been shitty and it has everything to do with me and all these new… feelings that I can’t seem to deal with. Or I guess, that I haven’t wanted to deal with.” You mutter the last part and steal a glance at her. Hazel is looking at you thoughtfully as she sits on the edge of her bed, her eyes silently urging you to continue.
“This is all pretty new to me. I’m not like you or Isabel— you’re both so secure in your sexualities, just knowing them from the get-go. And I’m not saying I’m ashamed of mine because I really am sure that I like girls. That I like you. I just…”
“You don’t want things to change?”
Hazel is looking at you so sympathetically that you want to cry. You almost do when she tugs you closer and on to the bed, right beside her spot on it.
You take another deep breath. “I can deal with change. I just wish it didn’t feel so… difficult.”
“I meant what I said that day. That I’d be there every step of the way.” She pulls you even closer and you let her, just wanting to get lost in the feeling of her and the intimacy of the moment. “But you have to let me be there for you. I want this to work out.”
“I want that, too. I want everything with you.”
And maybe that was a little too much to say so soon, but it doesn’t matter anymore when Hazel moves to kiss you on the forehead, then on your cheek, and finally on your lips. It’s so gentle and loving that you almost do cry this time; trust Hazel Callahan to always know how to make you feel better.
You cup the side of her jaw and kiss her back, letting the moment last for another second before pulling away. “I am really sorry too. I was getting to that part.”
Hazel chuckles softly. “I’ll forgive every tiny heartbreak this past week as long as you’ll be my girlfriend after this.”
“Just like that?” You lean back a little, studying her face for any sign that she might be joking. She looked very amused and pleased with herself, but dead serious all the same.
“I want everything with you, too.” Hazel leans forward again to press a lingering kiss on your cheek. “So… yes?”
You close the gap and smile into the kiss you give her, knowing she’d understand that as the resounding yes she was hoping for.

“I’m hungry,” Joey whined as you looked over at him with a smile from your spot at the kitchen table.
Your laptop was open in front of you, various job offers open on the tabs. “All you’ve done is eat since you got home from school,” you laugh and he pouts at you, making your smile grow a bit as you get up. “Alright, babe, I’ll get started on dinner.”
Joey smiled at you as he colored in the dog you outlined for him. “Can we have grilled cheese?” He asked and you nodded instantly, setting down the jar of tomato sauce and grabbing the loaf of bread instead.
“Great idea,” you agree and move over to the stove. “What do you think? Should we make one for your dad? Like the first night I babysat you?”
Joey nodded instantly with a smile. “Yeah!” You smile back and begin making the sandwiches as he added, “My dad doesn’t make things as good as you do.”
You hold back a laugh as you place a piece of bread in the pan. “That’s because your grandma spoiled him,”
Joey sets his orange crayon down and it rolls to the floor as he asks, “Am I spoiled?”
Shaking your head, you walk over to him and bend down to pick up the crayon. “No,” you answer and kiss his cheek as you set the crayon onto the table. “You’re just sweet.”
He laughs at that and picks up a red crayon to get started on the house he drew earlier, and you resume your task of making dinner.
Throughout the next hour, Joey effortlessly cracked you up with every little joke he made, and after you cleaned up the kitchen and let him draw one last picture, you scooped him up in your arms as you carried him out of the dining room and towards the stairs.
Just as you step out into the hall, Clay ascends the first staircase with a tired look on his handsome face. “Hey,” he greets as he shrugs off his jacket.
“Hi,” you say back as he leans down and kisses the top of Joey’s head. You blush when he discreetly kisses the side of yours before his son could see. “We’re just about to go have a bath.”
Clay nods and ruffles Joey’s hair. “Sounds good. I’ll be up to say goodnight, okay?”
Joey nods and clings onto your shirt as you gesture towards the kitchen. “I made you something,” you tell him and watch as his gaze softens.
“Grilled cheese, daddy,” Joey beamed. “Like the first night.”
Clay’s expression shifts and it had you squeezing your thighs together as his blue eyes darkened the smallest bit. “Like the first night, huh?” He asked and placed his hand on your lower back.
Your breath hitches and you nod quickly. “At Joey’s request,” say quietly and the look he was now giving you was making you feel lightheaded. “You go eat, I’ll get him ready for bed.”
Clay lifted your shirt and ran his fingers along the bare skin of your back before he nodded. “Okay,” he then gently guided you towards the staircase.
You were shaking a bit as you made your way up, and you had a hard time focusing on the task of bathing Joey and getting him clothed in his pajamas as you thought about the man downstairs.
Clay was making you feel things you hadn’t felt in a long time. You felt like a young teen again who had her first crush and was beginning to discover all the ways a boy can make her feel.
It was driving you crazy and you wanted him badly.
“Goodnight, Joey,” you say as you tuck him under his covers. “I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Okay,” he smiled up at you with tired eyes as he held onto his teddy bear.
Just then Clay enters the room with the same look somewhat hidden in his eyes, and you move out of the way as he walks over to Joey. “Night, buddy,” he murmured, bending down to kiss his forehead. “Love you.”
“Love you,” the four year old said back before he closed his eyes and Clay began leading you out of the room.
-
Clay wasn’t sure why his body felt like it was on fire right now.
He was fine when he got home, and then you reminded him of the first night you watched Joey, and he thought about all that had happened since then, and now he found himself wanting you.
He wanted to show you how much he appreciates you and adores having you around all the time, and he didn’t know how much longer he could keep his hands off you.
Clay quietly shut Joey’s door behind him, and then he was alone with you in the hallway. Pulling you towards him with his hands on your waist, he leans down and connects your lips in a kiss that had him holding back a pathetic moan.
He had only gone on one date with you, but he was already so whipped.
You kiss him back with the same amount of neediness before pulling away with a breathless laugh, trailing your hands up his arms as you ask, “Did you have a good day or do you always come home in this good of a mood?”
“Had a good day,” he answered as he pulled you further down the hall and away from his son’s room. “An even better night.”
You laugh again and look up at him with wide eyes as he gently pushes you up against his closed bedroom door, his hands pushing up your shirt in order for him to be able to feel the smooth skin of your hips. “That’s good,” you trail off as he tugs at the belt loops on your jeans. “Clay.”
The way you said his name had him growling slightly. “I want you, baby,” he rasped and pressed kisses along your neck. “Will you let me taste you all over?”
You moan and lean your head back against the door as you nod quickly. “Yes,” you gave him a verbal answer when he didn’t advance any further, and he grinned at you before dropping to his knees. His fingers pop open the button on your jeans before he pulls the zipper down, his mouth pressing multiple kisses to the skin of your abdomen. “Clay.”
He groaned and pushed your jeans down your legs, running his hands up the backs of your thighs and creating goosebumps along your skin. “God, you make me crazy,” he muttered, leaning in and pressing an open mouthed kiss to your left hip.
Your hands move to gently tug on his hair, his name tumbling from your lips again in a soft moan. Clay runs the tip of his tongue along the hem of your plain black panties before kissing you through the fabric and grinning at the way your body shook slightly. “You make me…make me crazy, too,”
Clay hums in acknowledgement as he pulls at the lace. “Can I take these off, pretty girl?” You nod quickly and Clay slides the black material down your legs. He holds back a moan as he sees the most private part of you for the first time. “You’re pretty everywhere, huh, baby?”
Your soft whine meets his ears and he can’t stop himself from leaning in and licking a stripe up your wet folds. “Clay,” you moan and make a mess of his hair as your legs shake. “I can’t….can’t hold myself up if you’re going to do that. You make me feel things, Clay. I don’t think you realize just how perfect you are.”
Clay groans quietly. “Tell me,” he softly requested as he pressed a firm kiss to your clit. “Tell me what makes me perfect, because I’m pretty sure that you’re the perfect one here.”
“You’re….God, you’re such a good dad, Clay…seeing the way you interact with Joey sends me into a frenzy every time,” you begin in a quiet tone as you didn’t want to wake Joey up. “You’re so kind and sweet…sexy, fuck, you’re so sexy, Clay, it drives me insane.”
Clay laughed at that and it had you moaning louder than before. “You’ve got me blushing down here,” he teased as he hiked one of your thighs onto his shoulder. “Is that all?”
He runs his index finger along your folds and you squirm a bit as you shake your head. “You always tell me to let you know that I got home safely…you care about everyone around you, including me for some reason,”
“I care about you because I like you, Y/n, a lot,” you blush at his words and softly caress his jaw with your fingers when licked up and down your slit. “And again, I do the bare minimum for you, but I want that to change.”
He wanted to do everything for you, wanted to take care of you and Joey and come home to see the two of you all the time.
It was way too early to be thinking about those kinds of things, but he couldn’t help it. You were perfect in every way, how could he not picture himself with you when you were what he had always wanted?
“It’s okay,” you mumble, grinding against his mouth. “You do a lot for me, too.”
“Not enough,” he disagreed and pressed you against the door by your hips. “You make things easier for us, baby. For all of us.”
You whimper at his sweet words and he feels you push up against his hold as he sucks your bundle of nerves into his mouth. “Oh, God,” you moaned, making a real mess of his usually neat hair. “Feels so good, Clay.”
He hummed at that, and the sounds you were making went straight to his dick, but this wasn’t about him. It was about you and showing you how much he appreciated you since he wasn’t able to come up with the right words.
Your grip on his hair tightened with each swipe of his tongue against you, and before long he was met with the beautiful sight of you coming undone above him. Your body shook and writhed against his mouth, and he cleaned up any evidence of what he made you do within seconds as you whimpered and whined. “Fuck, Clay,” you laughed when he finally pulled away before you got too stimulated. He pulled your jeans back up before standing to his full height and towering over you. “Hi.”
“Hi,” he said back, “I missed you yesterday.”
“You saw me on Saturday,” you laugh as you brace your hands on his shoulders.
He steadies you with a small smirk. “That’s too long,”
You shake your head with a playful eye roll as you watch him bend down to pick up your panties and stuff them into his pocket. “Am I gonna get those back?”
Clay grinned and shook his head. “Consider it the first piece of clothing you leave at your…boyfriend’s house,” he said the last two words more quietly than the rest as he still wasn’t sure what the two of you were.
Your eyes widen and you fail to hold back a pretty smile as you wrap your arms around his shoulders. “Boyfriend?”
Clay felt his face heat up in fear that he may have overstepped a bit. “Too soon?”
You shake your head and kiss him quickly. “I don’t think so,” you answer. “People become official after just one date sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” He laughed and felt one of your hands slide down his chest.
“Yeah, sometimes. I think we have a good thing here, though, Clay,” Your teasing smile, mixed with the way your hand was nearing his semi hard-on, had his breath catching in his throat. “Can I show my boyfriend how much I appreciate him?”
He really wanted you to, but he also didn’t want you to think that he was expecting it. Though, he also didn’t want to reject you, but luckily he didn’t have to as he heard his mom call out for him downstairs. “Raincheck?”
You nod and kiss him quickly before pulling away completely. “That’s my cue to go,” you mumble and begin to make your way to the stairs.
Clay curses under his breath and adjusts himself in his pants before following after you. Hearing you call him your boyfriend had sealed his fate, and now he was fully hard but wouldn’t be able to take care of it until he was alone in his room. “Oh, there you are,” his mom smiled as she watched him descend the stairs behind you. “Both of you.”
You smile at her and take a deep breath, making Clay hold back a smirk at the redness still visible on your face. He couldn’t believe he had just gone down on you in the upstairs hall a few seconds ago, but he loved every single second of it. He wanted to get you alone like that more often, but the very obvious elephant in the room was standing in front of him.
“Hi, Mrs. Beresford,” you greeted in a kind tone, and his mother just smiled at you.
“Y/n. You get the day off tomorrow,” she stated and Clay felt his own smile drop. “I have a meeting I can attend from home, so I’ll be able to pick up Joey from school.”
“Oh, okay,” you nod and look back at Clay. “I’ll just see you both on Wednesday, then?”
His mom smiled again as she nodded and walked around the two of you and up the stairs. You turn to him with a pout he wanted to kiss so badly and take his hand in yours.
“That sucks, I won’t get to see you and Joey tomorrow,”
Clay shook his head as he guided you towards the first staircase. “You could swing by at dinner time,” he offered and you smiled up at him as you made it to the front door.
“You think your mom would mind?” You ask as you shrug your jacket on and slip into your converse.
“She’s not the only one who lives here, pretty girl,” he pointed out and you rolled your eyes.
“Right, I totally forgot,”
He laughed and brought your hand up to his mouth, pressing a kiss to the back of it as he said. “Have a good night,”
“You too,” you smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “I’ll text you when I’m home.”
Clay nodded and let you pull your hand free and leave his house, and it had been a whole thirty seconds before he began missing you. He missed the taste of you, and now that he’s had a moment alone with you in that way, he wanted more.
He had to force himself to go back upstairs and get ready for bed, and after he was done showering he saw that you had texted him to let him know that you had gotten home safely.
He texted you back with a simple goodnight, then added a cheeky line about how he already missed the feeling of your body against his.
The next morning, Clay got ready for work and kissed Joey before leaving him in the care of his mom, and he was in the back of Rick’s car when you called him. He couldn’t even greet you before you were announcing, “I got that job!”
You sounded so happy, Clay was powerless to stop a smile from forming on his lips. “The one at that coffee shop?”
“Yes!” You answer excitedly. “Jess called me a few minutes ago. I start on Thursday.”
“That’s awesome, baby,” he said as he got out of the car. “I knew you’d get it. Congratulations.”
“Thank you,” you were quiet for a few seconds before you spoke again, “I got the morning shifts, so I can still babysit Joey after school.”
That had him letting out a breath of relief he didn’t know he was holding in. “That’s good. I won’t lose you as soon as I got you,”
He knew you were blushing as you said, “You sure know how to make me feel special, Clay,” and laughed afterwards. “Jess invited me out for drinks tonight. Said she wanted to get to know me before my first shift, so I can’t come over for dinner.”
“That sounds fun,” he said as he pushed the button for the elevator. “It might be nice to spend a night away from the kid, huh?”
You scoffed. “I’d rather spend it with you, but it’ll be good to get to know my boss,” you thought out loud before you added, “Must be nice to be your own boss, Mr Businessman.”
Clay laughed as the elevator arrived at the ground floor. “Trust me, it’s not all it’s made out to be,” he responded. “I’m getting into an elevator now, so I’ll probably lose you. Do you need a ride home later?”
“Maybe…I’ll let you know,” you answered. “I don’t want to wake you up, I might be out late.”
“I don’t mind,” he rasped as he entered the elevator. “Call me later, okay?”
“Okay,” you agree. “Have a good day.”
“You too,” he said back before he ended the call with a dumb smile on his face.
-
“Thank you so much for the opportunity!” You yell over the loud music at the bar. “I appreciate you taking a chance on me, despite my lack of experience.”
“It’s no problem, really,” Jess yelled back and smiled at you before taking a shot. You looked around the crowded room with tired eyes, and you knew you were close to your limit as your vision was beginning to blur. “Have you ever been here before?”
“No,” you answer and sip on your gin and tonic. “I’ve only been here for about a month, haven’t gotten out much yet.”
“Oh, babe, stay with me,” she laughed and placed her hand on your arm. “I know all the good places around here, and most of them don’t cost an arm and a leg to get in.”
You laugh, too. “Good to know,”
The music was making your head pound a bit, and when you checked the time on your phone, you saw that Clay had texted you a few minutes ago.
Clay Beresford: Hope you’re having a good night. The kid misses you, and so do I.
You smile and blink away the blurriness as you text him back,
I miss you both! My night is going pretty well. A bit tired, though.
Jess slides you a shot and you both take one as the song changes to a fast paced one, and that causes a table of guys a few rows down from yours to cheer loudly. Your new boss laughed and waved in their direction, but you just shook your head and playfully rolled your eyes.
“What?” She asked with a laugh. “None of them catch your eye?”
You glance over your shoulder and look at each of the six guys before turning back to her and shaking your head. “No,”
“Wow, tough critic,” she observed, reaching over and stealing the lime from the edge of your glass. “You already have a boyfriend then, I’m assuming?”
You begin to shake your head again, then remember the moment you shared with Clay last night, when he literally pushed you up against his bedroom door and went down on you, then called himself your boyfriend. “Actually, yeah,” you say with a smile. “As of last night.”
“No way,” she grinned and completely tuned out the table of guys as she slid her chair closer to yours, sucking on the lime as she asked, “Is he cute?”
You laughed and nodded, feeling like you and Jess were two old friends catching up. You were really hoping that a real, professional relationship could be formed with her, since your last attempt at one ended up with you dating the guy. “He’s very cute,” you reply and feel your phone buzz again. “That’s probably him now.”
Jess coos at you as she finishes off her beer and sets it down in the middle of the round table.
Clay Beresford: Are you thinking about calling it a night soon? I can come pick you up.
You look at the time and realize that it was well past one in the morning, and it seemed like he hadn’t gone to sleep yet. “Oh, wow, it’s late,” you laugh in your tipsy state, and Jess pulls out her phone, too.
“Fuck, it is,” she agreed and pulled out her wallet. “I should get going, but this was fun. I’m really excited to have you work at the shop with me.”
“Me, too,” you smile as she stands up. “How much-”
“Oh, don’t worry about it,” she waves you off. “I got the tab.”
“Really? Are you sure?”
“Of course,” she answered and pulled out some cash. “I invited you out, remember? Bills on me.”
You smile at her as you stand up as well. “Thank you, Jess, really,”
She smiled back and pulled you into a hug. “No worries,” she beamed, swaying slightly. “I’m gonna call a cab. Do you need a ride home?”
You open your mouth to respond just as your phone went off with an incoming call. “Um, I think I’m good,” you say and she nods, waving at you as she wanders off towards the bar. “Hi, boyfriend.” You sing when you accept the call.
“Hi,” he said back with a laugh. “You okay?”
“I’m fantastic,” you answer as you head over to the exit. “But I may actually need you to come get me.”
“Okay,” he murmured and you heard shuffling come from his end. “Where are you?”
“Uh, Hanson’s Pub,” you reply and hear the sound of a car door opening and closing. “I hope Rick isn’t mad he has to drive this late.”
“I don’t think he is,” Clay mumbled. “He’s probably sleeping right now.”
“What?” You ask as you lean against the wall beside the doors. “Don’t tell me you’re driving right now, Clay.”
“Okay, I won’t,” he said and you could hear the humor in his voice.
“Clay! I thought you weren’t supposed to be driving…you know, because of your condition,”
“Don’t worry about me, pretty girl,” was all he said and you sighed. “Just stay safe until I get there, okay?”
You hum in agreement, “Alright, but I’m chewing you out when I get in that car,”
“That’s fine,” he laughed. “I’ll be there soon,”
Then he hung up, and you were left to wait only a few minutes before walking outside and recognizing the black car across the street from the bar. You look both ways before crossing the empty road, bending to look at him when he rolled the window down with that smug smile painted on his lips.
“Why do I find you being behind a wheel so sexy?” You ask as you lean in and kiss him deeply.
He looked tired, and while that made you feel a bit guilty, you were also a bit turned on at his appearance. You were so used to seeing him dressed in formal clothing, so to be greeted with the sight of him in grey sweats and a white tee was a real treat. “Beats me,” he shrugged, nodding towards the passenger side door. “Get in, pretty girl.”
You hum and kiss him again before walking around the front of the car and settling in the passenger seat. “I can’t believe you’re driving me home right now,” you laugh and slur your words a bit. “Can’t believe I find it so hot.”
“You’ve had a lot to drink, huh, baby?” He grinned over at you as he drove in the direction of his house.
“Maybe,” you trail off, looking at the dark surroundings. “Did you already forget where I live? My place is back there.”
“I know,” he laughed. “I just don’t like the idea of you nursing a hangover tomorrow by yourself.”
You gasp and jump a bit in your seat. “Are we having a sleepover?” You ask and lean over to place your hand on his thigh.
“Not that kind of sleepover,” he replied and took your hand in his. “Is that okay?”
“You’re asking me if I’m okay with sleeping in your bed?” You scoff and lace your fingers together. “I’d be dumb to reject that offer. I missed you today.”
Clay brings your joined hands up to his mouth and presses a kiss to the back of yours. “I missed you, too,”
The rest of the car ride went by in a comfortable silence, and you were stumbling a bit when you got out of the car after he parked on the side of the road. “Maybe I did have too much to drink,” you mutter as he walks over to you and wraps your arm around his shoulders. “But I’m lucky that my very attractive boyfriend is such a good guy and offered to take care of me.”
“Did I offer to do that?” He grunted as he helped you inside his house. “You must be thinking of someone else.”
You laugh loudly, then slap your hand over your mouth as you look over at Clay with wide eyes. “I’m sorry, I’ll be quiet,”
Clay just shook his head and guided you all the way upstairs and into his room, holding up most of your bodyweight as he did so. He gestured for you to sit on the edge of his bed, and you looked around the room you had only been in once with hooded eyes.
“You’re so strong,” you slurred as he walked back to the door and locked it before kneeling on the floor in front of you. You gaze down at him with an excited grin as you press your thighs together. “Is this part two of what happened yesterday?”
Shaking his head, Clay laughed quietly at the way your lips dropped in a pout. “Maybe when you’re sober,” he said as he took off your heels and set them onto the floor next to the bed.
“Yeah,” you agreed in a tired tone as you lifted your arms. “I want to be able to clearly remember every second I get alone with you.”
Clay grunted softly as he tugged off your dress and grabbed one of his tees from his laundry basket.
You snorted, “I just put your laundry away not that long ago, Clay,” you murmur as he slides the shirt over your body. “How do you possibly have that much again?”
“Are you forgetting the fact that we got together after you started babysitting my kid? Kids are messy,” He grinned down at you before leaning in and pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Come on, let’s go to bed.”
You nod with a yawn and stand up, only to lay down on the left side of his bed.
You get under the covers as Clay turned the lights off and got in bed next to you, his brows furrowed in worry as he asked, “Are you okay?”
Nodding again, you slide over and rest your head on his chest. “More than okay,” you answer. “Thank you for getting me.”
He kissed the top of your head as you snuggled against his side. “I always will,”
And that was the last thing you heard before you fell asleep.
Your head was pounding a bit when you woke up, and you looked around the somewhat familiar room with tired eyes. Sitting up, you groan and hold the top of your head as you look over and see the right side of the bed empty, and then you notice the various prescription bottles on the nightstand. “Clay?” You call out with a dry throat, then meet his blue eyes as he leaves the bathroom attached to his room, still wearing the sweats and tee from last night.
“Morning,” he said in a quiet tone as he walked over to you with a glass of water.
“Morning,” you say back with an embarrassed smile as you take the glass and aspirin from him. “Thank you.”
Clay smiled as he sat down next to you on the bed. “Did you sleep okay?”
You nod and set the water aside before taking his hand in yours. “Yeah, I slept great,” you reply and lace your fingers with his. “Thank you for picking me up, and for helping me nurse my hangover.”
Clay laughed and kissed your hand. “Of course,”
You lower your voice as you ask, “Is your mom still here? What time is it?”
“Almost eight,” he answered. “The little guy got up a few minutes ago and she said she’d take him to school for me before work.”
You nod and look around his room. “You’re off to work soon, too, then?”
“No,” he said, making you look up at him in surprise. “I got the day off.”
A smile forms on your lips as you push the sheet off your body and crawl over to him. “Do we have the whole day to ourselves, Mr Beresford?” You ask in a teasing tone as you straddle him.
Clay grabs hold of your waist as you settle against him. “We do,” he confirmed as you caressed both sides of his pretty face. “Maybe we can go on that second date? You know, celebrate your new job?”
You squeal quietly and nod, kissing his lips quickly. “I’d love that,” you smile then look down at what you’re wearing. “I don’t have anything to wear, though.”
Clay gives you a squeeze before gently pushing you aside and standing up. “We’ll stop by your place so you can get dressed,” he offered. “Wear something of mine in the meantime.”
You blush and smooth out his shirt on your body. “Wearing your clothes in public?” You gasp. “How scandalous.”
He shook his head as he walked to the door. “I’ll go make sure the house is empty, then we’ll go, okay?”
You nod and he smiled at you before leaving the room.
With a big, dumb grin on your lips, you stand up and look around his neat room. On the fireplace mantel were a few pictures of Lilith and Joey when he was a bit smaller than he is now, and you felt your heart skip a beat at the one of Clay holding him when he was just a newborn.
You missed Joey, and were actually looking forward to him coming home from school later. It may be moving too fast, but you could see yourself being with Clay for a long time. You were so into him and knew you were falling for both the Beresford boys, but you were doing so willingly.
The only real problem was his mom, and even that you couldn’t blame her for. She was just looking out for her son after watching his first relationship fall apart and didn’t want to see him get hurt again. You could respect that.
One day he would tell his mom about you and him, but for now you’d just have to wait. If it meant you got to be with him, then of course you’d wait.
You walk over to his dresser and pull open the drawer with his t-shirts, and you smile at the difference in comparison to his much more formal button ups you were used to seeing him wear.
You rummage through the options before spying a dark blue shirt, and you reach for it without a second thought. But, as you grabbed it, your eyes landed on the object hidden under it, and you dropped the shirt as your eyes narrowed.
Picking the object up, you noticed that it was a picture in a frame, but not one of Lilith or Joey. It was of Clay and a brown haired girl, and they were smiling widely as they showed off their matching wedding bands.
Insecurities immediately flood through you and you stumble away from the dresser as you hold onto the frame with both hands.
This was her.
This is Sam, Clay’s ex, and Joey’s mom.
She was pretty. Fuck, she was really pretty, and her picture was in his drawer.
You tear your eyes away from the frame and bite down on your lip to stop it from quivering.
You knew about Sam, and you knew about Lilith’s hatred towards her and Clay’s anger towards her, but to see her with him was a bit jarring.
How could you compare to her when you’ve now just seen how beautiful they looked together? Sam was older, more mature than you are, and she was drop dead gorgeous. How could you compete with that?
You drop the picture onto the bed and look around the room, your eyes narrowing on your dress that was folded on the chair in the corner.
Blinking away unshed tears, you strip yourself of his shirt and shove it into the laundry basket beside the chair, tugging on the dress you wore last night.
You weren’t sure why you felt so bad right now, but you suddenly did not want to go on that second date with Clay today. You felt embarrassed and insecure and you wanted to leave as soon as possible.
So you pick up the dark blue shirt and shove it back into the drawer while holding back a dry sob.
You had no right to be feeling like this; jealous of a person who had Clay long before you did, but you couldn’t help it. Seeing her brought on so many unexpected emotions, none of which you were wanting to feel after a night of drinking.
Maybe he still loved her and that’s why their wedding picture was in his drawer. Maybe he was just with you in an attempt to get over her. Maybe he didn’t feel the same way about you that you felt about him. Maybe that’s why he was hiding his relationship with you.
You press the heel of your hand against your eyes as you pull open his bedroom door and nearly bump into Clay himself. “Woah,” he laughed as he steadied you. “What’s the rush? They just left.”
Shaking your head, you gently push him away from you and grip your heels in your hand, throwing your purse over your shoulder as you said, “I’m sorry, Clay, I don’t feel well,”
“What?” He asked as you quickly walked down the hallway and away from the very door he had you writhing against not even forty eight hours ago. “Wait. You don’t look good, Y/n, sit for a minute.”
You shake your head again and walk past Joey’s empty room. “I gotta go, I need some air,”
“Y/n,” he called after you, concern evident in his voice, but you just needed to get out. “Baby, wait.”
“I can’t,” you cry as you practically sprint down the stairs. “I can’t, okay?”
Then you were down the second staircase and out the front door before he could catch up with you.

Damnit, things were just getting good smh.

Late Mornings
A/N: Just a short little thang I felt like writing. The idea of writing a smut w/ these two is very tempting 🧐🧐
Incubus x Gender neutral reader x Succubus
Summary: Just a normal morning with your secret succubus/incubus roommates, nothing odd here at all
Tumblr media
“Hey, have you been going into my room lately?”
You looked down into your cup of warm tea, sticking your thumb in to feel the temperature.
Your female roommate scoffed, cutting herself off with a laugh.
“What? No. What kind of question is that, why would I go into your room?”
“Well,” You chest squeezes, your heart feeling like it was about to squish and explode. “I-- Every morning, my door is open. I never leave my door open; not when I’m not home, anyway. I’ve been paying attention to it more, and it’s no coincidence--”
“What are we talkin’ about fellas?” A raspy voice says from behind, startling you.
Your hand shakes, mug slightly tipping to leave tea on the white tablecloth. Shit, this was your grandma’s.
Your female roommate, currently still cooking with her back turned to you, let out a groan of disgust.
“Didn’t know the beast woke up before noon.” She chides.
Warm hands fall onto your shoulders, holding them still as if to keep you from getting up.
“You’re up, Gabriel?” You try to turn around to face him, but find that the male is already next to you, his warmth radiating off of him, part of it likely still remaining in the sheets he just tangled himself out of.
“You too?” He frowns, unattractive lines forming on his pedicured face. “I don’t sleep that late most of the time, you know. I have to get up for work by 10-- usually.”
“Yeah, when you don’t have a ‘guest’.” Your female roommate counters.
“Ugh shuddup Liz, as if you’re not the same. Besides, you know I gave that up a while ago.”
For some reason, Gabriel looked toward you while saying this, you in return giving him a confused look.
He massaged your shoulders, leaning all of his weight onto you as he nearly fell asleep again, yawning and closing his eyes.
“You believe me right, sunshine? Haven’t heard anything in these thin walls lately huh?”
You cringe at how he shoves his nose against the crook of your neck, inhaling your smell so obviously it nearly makes you shudder from embarrassment. You would’ve shoved him off if Liz had turned around, witnessing it. But she still was turned cooking, making breakfast for you. She made enough for all three of you to eat, but you knew you’d be the only one with a plate when she was done.
“C’mon Gabe you’re suffocating me,” You pat his hand, hoping he’d stop himself from reaching over the chair to hold you. But he didn’t, instead giving you a awkward hug from behind as he rocked you back and forth.
“Blegh, don’t call me that; you know I hate it. Just gives me more of a reason to hang on…” He says, noting the way you shimmy in his grip, trying to make him let go.
Liz turns with a pan in her hand, dumping the eggs and bacon in it onto your plate, pulling Gabriels ear with her free hand.
“Let go.” She says, with a little more harshness than you would’ve expected.
“Mind your manners, you never learned how to share.” She glares daggers at him, flicking his nose as he backs off.
You’re too busy pulling at your neck, a wave of nausea and sleepiness coming over you, as if Gabriel’s exhaustion rubbed off.
“So mean, bitch..” He mumbles, stretching his arms as he goes to sit next to you. “Well, atleast I feel energized for the day.”
His face has a newfound freshness, dark circles less ingrained as he looks around the room.
Gabriel scooted his chair over noisily, sitting nearly beside you now despite your chair being at the short end of the table.
You let out a small sigh of exasperation, feeling what seemed like bruises on your shoulders and neck. Had he really pressed that hard?
“Stop messing with it, you’ll make it worse.” He said, bringing your hand down as you felt a strange indent in your skin.
“Make what worse?” You questioned. Could he see something on you that you couldn’t? Well, you hadn’t looked in a mirror since you woke up.
“What are your plans for the day?” Liz interrupted, holding a mug with one hand as she sat across from gabriel, moving her chair with her other hand. You always admired the grace she seemed to have when doing things, her balance and lack of clumsiness making her appear so capable. If it were you, you probably would’ve gotten the chair stuck on the rug, dropping the mug in the process.
Her chair was close, but not nearly as close as Gabriel’s. You watched her pour her coffee as you began to pick up your fork. Gabe held onto your other hand, petting it with his thumb as he grabbed a clean mug from across the table.
Trying to pull your hand away, you found that Gabriel’s came with it, holding on as if he was an extension of you.
“Gabe.” Liz barked, watching the scene unfold. Gabriel was mid-sip as he let go in an offended manner, throwing up his free hand and rolling his eyes from behind the mug.
She scoffed, muttering under her breath about his childness as she turned her attention to you.
“So, your plans for today, Bee?” Liz repeated.
You perked up at the nickname, having not heard it for quite a while. You much preferred it over Gabriel’s overly sweet ones-- It wasn’t even about him trying too hard, he was just naturally that sappy to a tasteless degree.
You looked up like a deer in headlights, not expecting the attention your roommates were giving now, since they were previously so occupied with one another. But they both awaited your answer, watching you shovel bits of cheesy eggs and overdone bacon into your mouth. You took a scalding sip of your tea, some of it dripping down to your chin as you tried to hurry to answer.
“You’re almost as bad as Gabriel,” Liz sneered, though with less conviction than she gave to the aforementioned male. “Take your time, don’t rush.”
She pulled a napkin from the holder, grabbing your chin like a mother would to her child. Though, you didn’t feel the napkin grace your face, instead her thumb was wiping away whatever remnants you left on your unwashed skin.
Satisfied, Liz licked her thumb clean, drying it on the napkin she pulled.
“So...?”
You cleared your throat, licking your lips under the hungry gazes of your roomates.
“Uh, I really hadn’t planned much, since its been my first day off since--”
“You should stay home with us; what do ya know, I have today off too.” Gabriel interrupts.
You look towards him, a cheeky grin covering his face as he pushes his socked foot against yours, hip nearly touching your own.
All of a sudden Gabriel yelped out, his knee hitting the table as Liz shot him a glare that you swore could paralyze. You hoped to never be on the receiving end of her wrath.
“While I don’t usually agree with the dimwit,” Liz commented, turning her attention back to you as her hard expression softened. “I think it could be nice to have a roomies day-- Just relaxing, watching movies, indulging in some needs… You know, just simple things.”
Gabriel nursed his foot, holding it as he nodded with a frown.
“I could do your hair.. Liz could take you shopping…” Gabe’s excitement had turned to slight pouting.
You thought about it for a moment. Why not? You had hardly spent much time with the two, even though they always seemed to be around, sucking up your energy and time like vampires. You swore it was a mistake to have two extroverts as your roommates.
There seemed to be something off about them too; something they wouldn’t say. But you didn’t mind-- especially since they had quit some of their more tedious habits like bringing nightly “friends” home, since you came along. You didn’t know how much longer you could handle the embarrassment of hearing their every move, every sound. Thankfully, you didn’t have to have much of a discussion about it, their one-night stands decreasing by the second week of your move-in.
“Awe please say yes,” Gabriel pouted, reaching for your hand as he bunched his own against the tablecloth, attention pulled back to you. “We hardly get your-- well, any time with you. C’mon, won’t you do it for us?”
Liz would’ve reprimanded him if it weren’t for the way your frown turned slightly upward. You took his hand, giving a dramatic sigh and roll of your eyes.
“Does that mean yes?” Liz questioned.
“I guess so. As long as we aren’t going extreme-- I don’t need a whole wardrobe change, OR a new hairstyle.”
You looked at Gabriel with your eyebrows raised.
“I’ll do the best I can to restrain myself.” He cackles, rubbing his hands mischeviously.
“Ah, I’m excited,” Liz says with a grin, pushing her foot towards yours. “I can’t remember the last time I got to go out with a… friend.” She gave you a smile that seemed out of place.
You smiled back, slightly forced as her cold foot ran up and down your leg, stroking above your pajama pants as she gleamed at you.
“Well we gotta get ready-- first, its my turn. I need to get you dressed and right for the day-- before missy here takes you for a shopping trip that counts more as an excursion.” Gabriel pushed out of his seat, leaving his full cup there as you took another bite of food.
“Don’t keep me waiting,” He pushed your head towards his face, giving a longing kiss to your cheek as you chewed. “I know where to find youuu.” He sing-songed, pressing a finger to your nose as he pecked the same area once more. He skipped back to his room, humming as he and Liz refused to break eye contact.
Was it normal for roommates to be so affectionate? You weren’t sure, but the rent was too cheap and they were too nice for you to say no to his advances.
“He’s right, its already eleven.” Liz commented, her busty body already dressed in normal day clothes that showed off the right parts; You had to admit, you were a little jealous of how well she knew how to dress for her body type.
Liz grabbed her mug with her fingertips, pushing your hair back and giving a gentle peck to your forehead.
“Don’t let him do too much, you’ll regret it.” Liz warned. She laughed a little as she walked away, your chewing stopping as you wondered what you had gotten yourself into.
You quickly finished your food, feeling another wave of sickly nausea pressing into your sinuses as your head went heavy. You were going to need much more than your normal amount of strength to survive those two today.

It's just a hobby. (Drabble)
Tumblr media
Summary: You took up a new hobby, and Dean likes to poke and tease you for it, but you feel the need to seek a little revenge for the constant joking.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader
Word Count: 3300+
A/N: I started this during the summer when I started five different crocheting projects (ADHD carried my summer hobbies) and decided to finish it before school started back up. I am currently still writing Found Memories, but I have to put a pause on it as the first month of school tends to take a lot of my time away from hobbies like writing… I’m moving to teach 8th-grade English this year and could use all the energy you’re all willing to send my way! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this short story, and I’m happy to have the inspiration to write for Dean again :)
(Also, this is the closest to smut I think I've ever written...)
_______
“Seriously?” Dean grumbled as he looked in the rearview mirror seeing me pulling yarn to untangle a knot I had created.
Knowing where he was going with his normal banter, I just laughed and continued to focus on the craft in front of me.
“I pulled this out like 20 minutes ago. How are you just now noticing?”
“I’m watching the road,” he argued, and I rolled my eyes. As always, he had been sneaking glances to the back of the cab at me every other minute. “The hunt wasn’t even 40 minutes away from the bunker. Why did you bring that?”
“Why do you listen to the same three Led Zeppelin songs when you're upset about a hunt?” I countered, and he opened his mouth to disagree, but I answered for him to skip the sarcastic conversation brewing. “Comfort Dean. It’s all about comfort.”
“Why are you so weirded out by a normal hobby?” Sam jumped in, smirking, and sporting one of the many beanies I had made him with said hobby, which he had come to love. He looked down at a newspaper in his lap, no doubt already scoping out a new hunt.
“It’s not-” Dean stumbled on his answer. “I’m not weirded out by it. It’s just not a hobby I imagine someone like Y/N taking up.”
“You just described why you’re weirded out by it,” Sam looked at him with a blank stare.
He ignored him and rolled his eyes.
“What kind of people do you imagine the crocheting community to be full of?” I smiled, still looking down at my hands and knowing his answer already.
“Grandmas,” he replied almost immediately.
“Hmm,” I hummed as if surprised by his confession, even if it was wrong. “Well, if that’s the case, I’ll stop wasting my talents on things for you.”
I could see his eyes shoot up in the mirror and a look of regret ghost over his green orbs.
Dean liked to make a big deal about this particular hobby I had started up a little over six months ago. I think a part of him just liked to tease me about it, but deep down, I knew he was proud of my growth. He was just bad at voicing it.
The first things I ever crocheted were just simple squares in different stitch work to learn a variety of them better. Those squares became washcloths and, surprisingly, were still used daily in the kitchen.
I learned to make bags, socks, hats, sweaters, stuffed animals, and even a few blankets.
“Just 30 minutes ago, you took down five security guards, wrestled three teenage vampires, and booby-trapped half of his nest. Now you’re crocheting a sweater for Charlie that says, ‘What’s up bitches?’ in the backseat. Mind you, with blood still smeared on your face,” he raised an eyebrow at me in the mirror.
I looked up and leaned toward the front to get a better look at myself.
“Oh, shit, I thought I got it all,” I groaned, seeing a smear on the side of my face I must have missed.
“It doesn’t add up,” he shook his head, but I could see a joking smile on his lips.
“Much to your surprise Dean, girls can have more than one personality trait. I know you boys are all, ‘Ugh, monsters! Kill, kill, kill! I need a scotch in my hand and The God Father playing on loop in the background to show how manly I-’
“Hey,” Sam cut me off and looked at me with his sad puppy dog eyes. “I’m on your side.”
“You’re right… You also like to read and share fun facts,” I winked, touseling his hair and getting a scoff of a laugh as he swatted my hand away. “See how hurtful it can be when you forget our brains have the capacity to do more than one thing?” I turned back to Dean with my arms crossed on the bench seat in front of me.
“I don’t think you're incapable of having more than one interest in life; I just think it’s interesting that you chose a 90-year-old women's side gig as your hobby,” Dean countered, pulling into the garage.
“Well, if you can’t appreciate it, then you can’t have the gifts my hard work creates,” I huffed, gathering my things and sliding back to the door as Dean parked the car.
Once the car was in park, I was the first out. I wasn’t actually mad at him, I was a hundred percent messing with him, but he deserved it for teasing me this long about it when I knew he loved everything I had made him this far.
He had a favorite blanket that he preferred to sleep with now. He had a nice sweater he wore around the bunker when he was cold. He had a few pairs of socks he preferred over store-bought ones. He even had a miniature plush Batman figurine that sat on his desk that I had learned to crochet just for him.
“Y/N, you don’t mean that!” he called after me, standing in the door on the driver's side of the Impala and shouting over the roof of it where I was walking inside.
“We'll find out soon,” I yelled back, never turning around.
The next three days, I teased him like he had me about this whole ordeal, but in my own way.
When we were cooking in the kitchen or doing dishes, if he grabbed one of the squares that now acted as our kitchen hand towels, I would steal it from his hands and say, “Sorry, merchandise can only be used by those who value it.”
With which he would respond, “Wait! I need that!” with his hands drenched in water after washing his hands.
Just for extra measure, I took all the towels and moved them to a new place only Sam and I knew. He was happy to join in on my little prank, and every time he had one, he made sure Dean saw him with it.
“Where did you get that?” Dean would jump up from wherever he was and march over to him to try and steal it.
“Only the VIP customers have access to these,” Sam would wave it above his head out of reach of Dean.
Another time, after a hunt, it was freezing in our motel room, where the heater barely worked, and the hotel didn't have enough blankets. Luckily I had one packed in the trunk of Baby, and I used it for extra coverage.
Even though Dean and I shared a bed, I wrapped it around me as I slept and said, “Sucks that you hate this so much, or else I’d share with you…”
He stared at me with complete annoyance when I gave him an exaggerated “Oh well” face before stealing it all for myself.
I did, however, wake up to sharing it, but only because he had stolen it, and I was too tired to fight him about it.
I think one of my favorite times I rebuked him of his privileges was when he was wearing a pair of socks I had made him for Christmas around the house. I may have gotten a little more intense than I needed to, but the look on his face made it worth it.
He had come into the movie room to binge a few episodes of a new series I got him hooked on, and after he called me in to watch with him, I noticed the specific socks he had on.
I grinned once my brain had formulated a plan to make him regret ever giving me hell for a hobby he obviously loved himself.
“Claire said there was a show called Love Island we should watch. I have no clue what it’s about, but she said it was popular and what the kids are watching now,” Dean conversed as he grabbed the remote from the table and stood with a blanket (not one of mine, as I had relocated all of them so he couldn’t find them) around his shoulders.
He was in the perfect position for my plan.
I walked over and, instead of facing the TV, stood right in front of him and looked up at him.
“You know what we could do?” I whispered in a low and sultry voice, bringing my hand up to his chest and inching my fingers up to the collar of his t-shirt before pulling at it gently. His eyes instantly darkened, and he was frozen in his place.
“Wh-What, uh, what can we do?” he stammered out. Even after three years of dating, he still got nervous. I loved it.
“I think you know what,” I said, tiptoeing upward to quietly say in his ear, bringing my hand from his chest to the back of his neck, softly pulling him closer to me.
“I think I have an idea,” he replied more confidently, immediately bringing his free hand to my waist and squeezing it.
I could have faltered there, but I held strong. I was going to make him pay for all his little ‘grandma’ jokes he had sent my way the last few months.
I pulled back, sending him a smirk that I knew revved him up. He returned it with his own and started leaning down, forgetting his grip on the blanket and remote. Now both of his hands sat on my hips with a stronghold.
Before he could lean down any further, I pushed him backward harshly on the couch, and at first, he was shocked, then he was excited.
Slouched into the cushion, looking up at me, his tongue came out to lick his lips and ended with a bite to his lower lip as he eyed me up and down as I stood over him.
“Dear God, Y/N,” he hummed under his breath.
I guess it helped that I was wearing some of my shorter PJ shorts, ones he had told me were his favorites, and a shirt that was cropped and slightly falling off my shoulder.
He had a thing for me being in a disheveled manner like this. Reminded him of how I looked after we fucked around, and he held pride knowing he played a part in the kind of glow I gave off.
I wasn’t sure how long I could do this without failing myself on the original mission. I came here to fuck with him, and now he was the fucker. Or at least he was going to be if I didn’t follow through with my plan in the next minute.
“You know, you should be happy you were by the couch,” I smiled, stepping to him and strategically bringing my legs to straddle his hips teasingly.
His breath hitched at that, and I knew I had regained the upper hand.
“Oh yeah? Why’s that?” he hummed as he admired my hands pressing into his chest as I leaned in, bringing myself closer to him.
“I was about to take you wherever I found you,” I whispered, looking him dead in the eyes with a soft smile. I looked him up and down and bit the inside of my cheek. That seemed to trigger his hands back to my hips instantly. This time a much more possessive lock on them.
“I don’t know where this is coming from, but I can’t complain,” he said lowly, and I knew he was hooked. Now it was time for revenge.
“Can I ask you a question?” I hummed, running my finger lightly over his hair down to his jaw, using the tip of it to push his chin up so I could see his eyes better.
“Please,” he buzzed, drunk with lust.
“Hmm,” I hummed, smiling more, dropping my gaze to his lips, then back at his eyes where he was drowning in dopamine by our current position. “Those socks you have on?” He didn’t catch on immediately and just furrowed his eyes as he processed what I asked. “They look familiar.”
I leaned back from my seat, still straddling his hips, but not with nearly as much pressure as before.
“What-” Dean started, but it dawned on him mid-thought. His eyes went from ready to tear my clothes off to annoyed realization. “Seriously.”
“What?” I feigned ignorance and stood up, repositioning myself between his legs, both hands on his knees as I looked at him and leaned over.
He couldn’t tell which way this was going for him, and that was the point. I was still winning this little game.
I eased myself lower, squatting with my knees going into the couch and in between his thighs. My hands went flat on his knees and slowly started working up his thighs.
“I can’t tell what you’re doing here, Y/N,” he said in a breathy voice. I watched as he tried to control himself, looking up away from me but not being able to help react to my hands on him.
“I’m not doing anything,” I said in a voice that made him lower his nervous wandering eyes back to me. The amount of green in his eyes disappeared slowly.
“You’re teasing me,” he said shortly as if he was worried his voice would tremble if he didn’t get it out quickly.
“Maybe, maybe not,” I shrugged with a pursed lip before bringing my hands slowly back down his legs.
“You’re mad at me,” he stuttered the last word when my hands worked their way back up, but further up than before.
“Now, why would you think that?” I tutted, shaking my head with an exaggerated look of hurt.
All he could do was take a slow, deep breath in as I tilted my head and smiled devilishly at him.
“Don’t.”
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t play innocent.”
I grinned.
“You and I both know I’m far from that…” My tone was darker than before but in a seductive and tempting manner.
He couldn’t hold back anymore. He shot up from his slouched position and leaned forward, grabbing my forearms in his hands and pulling me up in his lap with his nose mere inches from my own.
“If your goal was to make me suffer, you won,” he whispered so quietly; if I wasn't this close, I wouldn't have heard it. He tilted his head up just enough for our noses to brush before pulling back.
“Keep it together, girl… Keep it fucking together,” I repeated in my head.
“Did I? Or am I just getting started?” I snarked, and that caused the new grip on my thigh to tighten, and I almost groaned at the pressure.
“Don’t start a war you can’t win,” he smirked, feeling as though he possessed the power.
Two can play that game.
I smiled, bringing my free hand up and tracing it behind his ear before wrapping it slowly around the back of his neck. I brought his face closer to mine but stopped right when I could feel the brush of his lips.
Our chests were pressed into each other, and I could feel his heart rate pick up. Perfect.
I nudged our noses again and smiled as his eyes closed, and he naturally and lazily chased my lips.
I rocked my hips in a measured manner, placed perfectly in the middle of his lap, and he sucked in a breath at the friction.
“Women don’t start wars. They finish them,” I whispered before promptly standing up and, in a swift motion, yanking the socks he had on off and walking to the exit.
“Y/N!” I could hear his shout from the couch from where I knew he was with a full hard-on, unable to move just yet.
“This granny is going to bed!” I shouted, speed-walking to my room in case he decided to run after me.
“You little-!” the shout still seemed far behind me, and I quickly shut my bedroom door and locked it.
Thankfully, I think I left him incapacitated for a second, and he didn’t follow me immediately.
I actually didn’t hear from him for the rest of the night. I hoped I didn’t upset him, but also, the whole reason I had done what I had was because he had become a little ass about my favorite hobby. I don’t mind the jokes, but after a while, you want a pat on the back for learning something new. Especially from someone you care about.
I went ahead and did my normal nighttime routine and got into bed before I started to read a book. I must have dozed off while reading because I woke up to the lights out, my book on the end table, and Dean crawling into the other side of the bed.
Before I could say anything, his arms came around my waist, and he pulled me to his core. He was in his boxers and one of his soft t-shirts I made him wear to bed.
For the record, I was perfectly fine with him in no shirt (or pants, for that matter), but when he did wear a shirt, I made him put on a certain kind cause his band and certain graphic tee ones were itchy on me when we cuddled.
He took a deep sigh and nuzzled his face into the crevice between my neck and shoulder, one of his favorite places.
“Why’d you lock your door?” he asked, already knowing I had woken up.
He had definitely picked the lock.
“I thought you were going to hunt me down, and I forgot to unlock it,” I replied sleepily.
There was silence for a minute, and eventually, he spoke up, whispering in my ear his apology.
“I’m sorry.”
“Why?” I sighed with a winning grin he couldn't see, knowing why but playing coy anyway.
“I’m sorry I haven’t told you how much I appreciate your brain,” he answered.
That was not what I expected, but I was intrigued.
“Hmmm,” I smiled, moving my hands to his that were wrapped around my ribs and nuzzling my backside closer to him. “Don’t stop now; you’re on a roll.”
He laughed and invited my attempt to fit into him like a puzzle piece.
“You’re ambitious with everything you want to learn to do, and I don’t tell you enough how much of a turn-on that is,” he hummed, rubbing his head into mine and peppering a kiss on my neck here and there. “And I know you know how much I love the skills you gain, but sometimes I’m bad about just saying how impressive you are to me.”
“You like my crocheting skills, Winchester,” I chuckled, turning my body to face him now and throwing one of my legs over his hips, pulling back in some. “Just say it.”
“I love your crocheting skills,” he replied with a wide grin and brought a hand up to move the stray hairs that fell on my face. “I love your baking and cooking. I love your impressive TV show-binging skills. I love the random facts you have stored in that beautiful brain of yours. I love your surprisingly nerdy side of Marvel and superheroes. I love your attempt at being a gardener.”
“Hey, I have three plants that are thriving right now!” I argued, poking a finger in his chest, which he grabbed and kissed the tip of.
“I love everything you’re passionate about,” he finished off. “I don’t tell you enough, and sometimes I like to see that face you give me when I tease you.” I gave him a look. “Maybe more than sometimes… But! I do love all those things and more about you, Y/N.”
“I don’t doubt it,” I replied, scooting in closer. “But it is nice to hear it from those captivating lips of yours.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
We started smiling at each other, and I couldn’t help but feel a little guilty about earlier.
“I’m sorry I teased you,” I sighed, moving to where I was embedded in his chest, and he wrapped himself back around me.
“Don’t be. I deserved it,” he replied, chin on my head before he bent down and kissed the top of it. “I will say, though, I’ve never been mad about seeing that side of you.”
“What side?” I looked up at him.
“Don’t act like you didn’t know what you were doing,” he chuckled, pulling my head back to him.
“Yeah, you’re right,” I agreed after a minute. “Hey.”
“Hm?”
“You’re my favorite person. You know that, right?”
“Feelings are very much mutual,” he answered, caressing a hand up and down my back.
“Good. I’d have to kill you with one of my knitting needles if you said otherwise. Who said needleworking wasn’t dangerous, right?”

“Man, can you just help me get him into the car?”
“I swear to god Jake, if you puke in my bronco…”
“He’s not going to!” Javy hisses, hoping he’s right. “Just help me get him in.”
Bradley sighs, running a hand over his face. “Fine. Jake, c’mere bud.”
Jake doesn’t respond, too busy singing to himself under his breath.
“Hey lover boy!” Bradley calls, cutting off the drunken tune of My Girl. “We’re going home.”
Jake’s eyebrows furrow as he looks up at his friends. “What?”
“Jesus,”
“Time to go home Jake.” Javy says, looking at him. “Get in the car.”
Jake hangs his head and does as Javy says. Javy reaches across him to buckle his seatbelt, ignoring Jake’s complaints and swatting hands.
Once everyone is in the car, Bradley starts it up and slowly backs out of the parking spot. “You wanna go home or am I dropping you at Javy’s?” He wonders.
“Home.” Jake says. “Is ____ there?”
“I don’t know man.” Bradley shrugs, shooting a look at Javy.
"I'll ask her." Jake announces, pulling his phone out of his pocket.
You receive a less-than-decipherable text from Jake a couple minutes later, and then a handful of heart emojis.
You call him and he answers eagerly, thumb swiping the answer button before he holds the phone to his ear.
"Hey darlin'!" He greets loudly, not noticing the way Bradley and Javy wince.
"Hi Jake." You say cheerfully. "What's up?"
"I'm in the car." He states. "But I'm not driving."
"Oh good," You say, biting back a laugh. "Do you need something or...?"
"Are you at home?"
"Yeah." You say slowly.
"We'll take you there." Bradley says, ignoring the smack Javy delivers to his arm.
"We can't take him home right now," Javy hisses. "He can't be alone with her right now. He's too drunk he'll tell her he's in love with her in two seconds."
"And that's exactly why we should take him!" Bradley argues. "He needs to tell her at some point or he's just gonna be pining for the rest of his life." Bradley who spent too long overthinking his own decisions, and doesn’t want Jake to make the same mistakes that he did. Bradley who’s known Jake since freshman year, where they met during a fraternity rush before they both realized that neither of them like being told what to do by a senior on a power trip. Bradley, who see’s Jake as one of his best friends, and wants Jake to be happy.
"He's not ready." Javy says firmly. "Just because you told Melanie you liked her after too many beers and--"
"--yeah and look at us now! It worked out pretty well!"
"He's not ready." Javy repeats. "He told me he wants it to be the right moment." Javy, who’s known Jake almost his whole life, when Jake’s family moved into the house next door to Javy’s grandmother. Two boys who discovered each other one summer when Javy came to stay with his grandma, and spent every day together running through the Seresin’s sprinkler. Javy has known Jake longer, so he thinks he knows him better, but he still wants what’s best for him.
"He's just telling you that because he's too scared. It's a way for him to put it off."
Both men sigh, not even realizing that Jake has hung up the phone until he clears his throat.
"Can y'all stop fighting about my love life and just let me suffer?" Jake groans. "My phone died." He pouts. "I was still talking to her."
"Sorry bud." Bradley grins. "We'll take you home and you can see her soon."
"No, you're gonna stay at my place tonight." Javy cuts in. "We'll see ____ tomorrow, you can even bring her coffee."
“No, we’re gonna—“
“Stop.” Jake whines, head drooping against his seatbelt. “I want to go home and sleep in m’bed.” He hums.
“Fine.” Javy sighs. “But we’re walking you up.”
Less than ten minutes later, Bradley’s pulling his car into a guest parking spot, before he and Javy help Jake out of the car.
“M’fine.” He pouts like a petulant child. “I can walk!”
Javy backs off a bit, but is still right by his side, with Bradley close behind.
You’re on the couch in your pajamas when they unlock the door, pausing your show and flinging your blanket off your lap. You beeline for Jake, inspecting his face.
“Hey sweet thing.” He drawls, accent a little sloppier than normal. “Missed ya.”
“Missed you too Jake.” You murmur sweetly. “You okay?”
He nods, head wobbling a little bit.
“He’s had a lot to drink.” Javy cuts in. “We should probably get him to bed.”
“Yeah, of course.” You nod, stepping back. “I’ll grab him some water.”
You take your time walking to the kitchen and filling a water bottle with ice and water. The last time you gave Jake an open cup while he was drunk, he spilled it all over himself. You wait until Javy and Bradley are exiting the room.
“Let me give him this then I’ll walk you two out.” You acknowledge them before going into Jake’s room.
“Hey Jake.” You smile. “I got you some water. How about you drink some?”
He lifts his head of the pillow and opens his mouth. You bite back a giggle before popping the straw on the water bottle and connecting it to his lips. He chugs some water quietly, before pulling back and wiping the back of his mouth.
You lean over to take the water bottle and set it on his nightstand, when he laughs a little.
“You’re so pretty.” He tells you. “Like it doesn’t even seem real, you’re just so pretty.”
Ignoring the way your cheeks flame, and your heartbeat kicks up, you bend down to press a kiss to his forehead. “Thank you Jake. Goodnight, I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Night,” He murmurs, pink rising on his cheeks.
Bradley and Javy spring away from the door as soon as they hear your footsteps on the floor. It’s hard for them to knock their matching grins, so they keep their heads down and wish you a goodnight as you let them out the front door.
And you go back to the couch and your show, but your mind is stuck on the boy sleeping in the room over.

Butter Him Up
🎁 Merry Christmas to @eddiethehunted who asked for nasty feral linecook!Eddie smut - props to you for answering smut questions in front of your grandma
Steve/Eddie • rated: E • vague timeline, no UD, inappropriate use of a staff bathroom, come and Steve’s uniform tie 🫠 now on ao3
When he’d applied for the job at the restaurant, he assumed it would be like working at Scoops or the movie theater, people order food and he gave it to them. He could handle that. Steve wasn’t a stranger to an embarrassing outfit, either. This one wasn’t even embarrassing, really. He actually liked the button down and tie, the half apron with big pockets.
The real issue was Eddie. The line cook.
Eddie made him feel like he was doing everything wrong, always asking him questions about his tickets or confusing him about sides and substitutions. He leered at him and made comments about his uniform like every other server wasn’t wearing the same exact thing. It made him crazy.
But when he walked into the kitchen, Eddie wasn’t there.
“Hey Jon, where’s Eddie tonight?” He asked, trying to keep his voice casual as he punched in.
“Their band had a gig, out in Indy, I think Gareth said. You’re going to have to make do with the rest of us tonight,” he sent him a wry smile.
Steve huffed, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Jon threw a towel over his shoulder and came closer to the counter, still giving him a sly smile. “We all see you two dancing around each other, man. It’s entertaining. Be careful there, he’s not known for his, uh, tenderness,” he chuckled.
Steve blinked. “Um. Okay? I’m not interested in anything with Eddie, alright?”
“Sure, Steve, whatever you say.”
It wasn’t until a few hours later that it hit him.
He did like it. Liked Eddie ‘dancing around him,’ like Jonathan said. He’d always been sort of an attention whore and tonight he felt off, unsteady without Eddie infuriating him with his comments and constantly feeling his eyes on him. On his ass.
“Fuck,” he said under his breath as he filled up water cups. What was he going to do about this?
“Heard you missed me yesterday, big boy,” Eddie jeered at him.
He took a moment to really look at him, a wild smile all teeth and tongue, metal shining from his lips and eyebrow and nose, tattoos across his throat and down his forearms where his own white button down was rolled up. Steve wanted to yank his hair out of the pile on top of his head. Oh.
“Sure did, Eds,” he replied with a quick wink.
He watched with satisfaction as a shock wave went though Eddie’s features, not expecting the pushback.
It didn’t seem to stop the comments or all the eye fucking, which Steve was now expecting and then maybe encouraging.
“Doll face, if they have an egg allergy they can’t have the Caesar dressing. Go see what they want.”
“Hey sweet cheeks, this appetizer for table 23 has been here longer than you’ve worked here, can you go take it to them?”
Steve put a swing to his hips as he took the plate with a smile and headed back to the front. He thought maybe there was a crash behind him as the door swung shut. He smirked to himself.
After the big dinner rush, he punched in his own shift meal and stood watching as Eddie got the ticket.
“You going on break, babydoll?”
“Yeah, you gunna come?”
There was a cut off sound and Gareth snickered next to him at the line.
By the time he was shoved into the staff bathroom, Eddie seemed to have recovered his attitude.
Big hands grabbed at his ass, and Eddie groaned into his ear. “Shit, Stevie. You’ve been teasing me with this ridiculous ass of yours forever.”
“Uh huh,” he gasped as he was pulled forward roughly and their hard lengths rubbed against each other, a hot mouth finding his neck. Eddie already had him wound so tight and he felt like he was going to explode. “Please-“
“I know, sweets. You’re already so desperate, huh?”
Steve whined as his apron was untied and thrown, his shirt rucked out of his pants so hands could work their way down the back of them to grab a handful.
Then he was quickly pushed away as Eddie ordered, “Down on your knees, I think, darlin’. There’s a good boy. Need those lips around me. Shut you up good, huh?”
Steve was quick to comply, just as ready to sink down onto his knees for him. They both fumbled with his belt and zipper, Eddie finally slapping his hands away and yanking his boxers under his balls.
Eddie’s dick was big, and already so hard, precome beading at the head. His mouth watered and he immediately opened it and stuck his tongue out.
“Such a cock slut, aren’t you, pretty? Yeah, you need it so bad, don’t you?”
He nodded, tongue still out as Eddie held his cock just out of reach for another moment before tapping it onto his tongue. Steve went up on his knees, trying to push further down on his length and received a few inches for his trouble. Hands came around the back of his head to rake through his hair and he moaned around him. Suddenly the hands pulled him roughly up, shoving his length down his throat. He gagged and tears sprung to his eyes.
“That’s it, shit, the mouth on you. Ah-”
Steve tried to suck in breaths through his nose as Eddie pulled him back and forth, licking around the head and keeping his teeth out of the way while his throat was fucked open on his gorgeous cock.
Suddenly he needed something else. He slid back and looked up, gasping out, “Fuck me, Eddie, please-“
“Jesus Christ, Stevie. Of course. Get up here.”
Eddie yanked him to his feet and pushed him against the sink. He made quick work of his fly, letting his pants slide down his legs.
“So wet for me already, pretty. Turn around. That’s it.”
When he found himself bent over the sink, some small semblance of sense sparked in his brain. “Lube,” he gasped. He couldn’t string a sentence together to save his life right now. “I-“ he shook his head.
“Got it, sweets. Been carrying it around since your second day here. I’ve fantasized about you spreading your legs for me every day since then.”
“Fuck,” he breathed. Why was that hot?
“Yeah, dreamed about bending you over the bar and letting the whole place watch.” Eddie grabbed handfuls of his ass again quickly before yanking his underwear down. They both groaned when he pulled his cheeks apart and spit directly onto him.
“Oh, holy shit,” he whined as fingers rubbed the wetness around his rim. “C’mon, Ed-“
“You gunna let me in this tight little hole?” Eddie taunted. He must’ve added some lube before he pushed a finger in roughly, Steve raising up on his toes with a squeak. “That’s it, gotta stretch you out for this big cock.”
“Oh my god.”
“Just Eddie works, sweetheart,” he chuckled darkly.
Steve shuddered, the condescending tone sending him further to the stratosphere. He arched his back as he added another finger. “You are- ah- such a dick!” He said between clenched teeth.
“Sure am, baby. And you love it. Think I’m gunna come all over this ass. Rub it in and let you walk around with me all over you as you finish your shift. How’s that sound, my little slut?”
He, naturally, decided then to press solidly against his prostate and Steve lost the plot of the conversation again, only able to gasp and groan as another finger was introduced to his entrance. He pushed back against it, trying to hurry him up. For someone ‘not known for their tenderness’ he sure was taking his time in his preparation.
“Such a little slut, Stevie. I know, I know, we’re getting there. Hold your horses.”
Finally, there was a blunt wet head pushing against his rim and he moaned as it popped in.
“Mmm, you gunna be loud for me, baby? Let the whole place know you’re getting what’s coming to you?”
Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that wasn’t ideal for his job or reputation, but the rest of him thought that was a great plan. Nodding and whining since he couldn’t get any words to come out, Eddie chuckling at him.
Now he realized the prep he’d thought was excessive was necessary and almost cursory, as Eddie continued to press forward and his dick stretched him impossibly. He whimpered and gasped, Eddie pulling him upright and he got to watch them in the mirror as he finally bottomed out inside of him.
“Holy fuck,” Steve breathed. Thankfully Eddie took pity on him and gave him a moment to adjust, mouthing down his neck to his collar.
With a smirk, he pulled out, looking pointedly down between them, probably knowing Steve was watching in the mirror.
“Your greedy little hole is sucking me right back in, darlin’- oh fuck- so fucking tight,” Eddie rambled.
He shoved back in and rubbed over his prostate, making Steve shake and arch his back for more. His head dropped forward and he heard a tsk from behind him.
With a grin, Eddie grabbed the tie around his neck, spinning it around and wrapping it around his fist, using it to keep him from falling forward. The threat and the tightness around his throat made his dick twitch and he automatically wrapped a hand around himself.
His arms were suddenly pulled back and Eddie held onto his wrists in the small of his back.
“Uh uh, greedy. You’re gunna wait. Think you can come just from my cock? Huh?”
Steve wailed as the angle changed and his prostate was nailed again and again, pulled around like a rag doll as Eddie held onto his wrists and his hip. He didn’t know how he was even still standing, his legs shaking under him.
“Christ, I knew your ass would be magnificent, doll face,” Eddie huffed into his ear. “Look at you, so drunk on my cock you don’t even know which way is up, poor baby.”
Steve cracked an eye open and tried to make sense of what he was seeing in the mirror, his own flushed cheeks, mouth open, tear tracks and drool making a mess of his face. His hair was stuck to his sweaty forehead and sticking up where Eddie had raked his hands through it. He looked completely fucked.
The heat in his belly coiled tighter and he gasped out, “Cl-close, Eds!”
“Me too, sweetheart. C’mon, come for me and I’ll decorate this perfect ass of yours.”
Something must’ve shown on his face or Eddie just instinctively knew what he needed but he watched as the tattooed arm left his hip and his hand wrapped around his neck, pressing just right on the sides.
His eyes rolled back and he may have screamed as his orgasm shot through him, his hips rolling forward and back through the aftershocks. Eddie growled in his ear as he continued fucking him through it as he clenched around him.
“So fucking good, Stevie,” he hissed before pulling out roughly.
His wrists were released and he miraculously caught himself as he dropped forward onto the sink, able to see just Eddie’s face as he jerked himself off above him.
“Oh fuck, can’t wait to see you shaking this ass around for everyone, knowing it’s covered in me, ah- all mine.” He grunted lowly and Steve gasped again as he felt the hot splashes against his back and down his cheeks. Big hands immediately started rubbing it in, making sure to cover every inch and down his crack.
“Pull your pants up, slut,” he growled.
After barely making it through the rest of his shift, he wasn’t surprised when Eddie met him at the back door. “Your place or mine, baby cakes?”
Gareth ran to Jonathan’s car as he pulled in for his shift the next afternoon, “You owe me fifty bucks!” He held out his hand with a wide smile.
“Fuck!”

𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: max verstappen x fem!reader
𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭: max and prompt “i never wanted that divorce.” please
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: you and max are divorced and max is getting married again.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: mentions of divorce, sad reader, angst, not proof read
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: hiiii! welcome to my blog! my requests are open so please submit your requests! we’re not using kelly because we’re not manifesting that <3 hope you all like this!
you were going through the mail when you saw a white envelope with “y/n verstappen” written in golden letters. you frowned in confusion but carefully started to open the envelope. you swore you heard your heart break when you were able to see what was inside. it was a wedding invitation, more specifically, an invitation to max’s wedding.
max and eleonor request the pleasure of
your company to celebrate their wedding
you felt your eyes water and closed the envelope. this could not be happening, you thought.
it’s not like you and max got divorced yesterday.
you and max got divorced because of racing. he wasn’t as present as you and the kids needed him to be, which lead to endless arguments, fights, and tears, until one day your marriage was terminated. but this was over three years ago, and despite that, you didn’t understand how he was capable of moving on so fast. maybe the reason why you didn’t understood how he did it was because you weren’t able to move on yourself.
you had tried everything, and by everything you mean everything. meeting new people, going on dates, god you even tried online dating, but nothing seemed to work. none of those men were him. some of them were good hardworking and loyal men, but something was always missing.
“mama, why are you crying?” a soft voice snapped you back into reality, “hey, i’m not crying, i just have an allergy” you chuckled and hugged leon, one of your seven year olds, “julian and i are ready. now julian is helping emma with her bag” he smiled as he hugged you back.
leon and julian are twins… more like max’s twins, no joke. same face, same eyes, and same cheeky smile. meanwhile emma is a carbon copy of you, but blonde with blue eyes, just like her father.
the twins were only four when you got divorced, and emma was 2. of course it wasn’t easy, but you both managed to make the divorce process as least traumatizing as possible.
“mama! we’re ready!” julian and emma ran out of their rooms with bags in hand, “hey, be careful!” you laughed, “we’re ready!” julian exclaimed and emma giggled, “that’s good, oma will be here in no time” you hugged your children, or like max likes to call them, your cubs.
the doorbell rang, meaning that sophie had arrived.
about a week ago, sophie had asked if you’d let her take the cubs on a little trip to a lake a she went to with one of her friends near the city. after looking at the pictures you couldn’t say no. your babies would love it and you knew how much they loved spending time with their grandma.
when you got pregnant, max suggested that it was better to move back to the netherlands so the babies could be surrounded by their family. you didn’t think twice and agreed with his proposal. you loved monaco, you really did, but there was nothing that could compare to having your family near you.
when you look back at those memories, you’re thankful you chose to come back, because you don’t know what you would’ve done if you had to go through the divorce all alone in monaco.
you walked over and opened the door, “hey!” you smiled, bringing sophie into a hug, “how are you doing, sweetheart?” she hugged you back and came in, you knew exactly what she was talking about, “i’m good” you smiled softly, she nodded giving you a sympathetic look.
“oma!” the three mini verstappens ran over to their grandma and hugged her legs, making her laugh, “who’s ready to go to the lake?” she asked, “me!”
you said your goodbyes and helped sophie get the kids in the car.
“i’ll let you know when we get there” she told you, “sounds good, and send pictures, please” you smiled, “i will. and honey, if you need anything, just give me a call” she pulled you into her arms and hugged you tightly, “i know, thank you, soph” “no problem”
being the momma bear you were, or the lioness like max would refer to you as, whenever your children were gone, you found yourself extremely bored… but also really productive.
you had been able to organize weeks of work and even clean the house. after you were done with your chores, you went up to your room and took a shower. after a while you walked downstairs into the kitchen to make yourself something to eat.
while cooking, you the doorbell rang. weird, you were not expecting anyone today besides sophie. you put the knife a side, quickly washed your hands and made your way to the door.
“uh, hey?” you said when you opened the door, “hey, how are you?” max asked, “i’m good. your mom already left with the children so…” “i’m here to talk to you, can i come in?” he asked, “sure…” nodding, you opened the door for him to come in.
“are you busy?” he asked after you closed the door, “not really. just cooking” you walked to the kitchen, max followed.
max sat in one of the stools and watched you chop your vegetables.
“what did you come to talk about?” you looked up, his blue orbs finding your (insert your eye color) eyes, “i wanted to know if you got the…” “the wedding invitation? i got it today in the mail” you nodded, your tone coming out a bit dry.
“are you mad?” he asked, “why would i be? congrats, by the way” you said, adding your favorite vinaigrette to your salad, “don’t be like that…” he sighed, “like what? am i not supposed to congratulate you now?” you looked at him.
“you know exactly what i mean, y/n” he said, “i don’t know what you mean and i’m not in the mood to fight. i’m tired and hungry, so can i please enjoy my salad?” you asked and he scoffed, “i can see it in your eyes, y/n. there’s something you’re not telling me and i want to know what’s going on” he sighed, “we’ve been divorced for almost three years, but remember we were married for four before that”
you felt your eyes water but quickly wiped the tears away.
“i’m okay, max” you said while grabbing a glass and pouring some juice in it, “you’re about to cry, tell me what’s going wrong, i want to help” he softly said, and that’s when you broke.
“i don’t know max, maybe the fact that once again i’m the one who’s going to be all alone?” your voice broke, “the fact i’m the only one who’s going to come back to an empty home when the kids are spending time with you? or maybe it’s the fact that for some reason i can’t move on with my life but everyone else can! you did, why can’t i?” you were a crying mess by now.
move on? he never moved on. his family knew it, his friends knew it, everyone knew it, he knew it.
he was never able to move on from you, the love of his life. the woman who was there to lift him up when he was feeling down, the woman who would cry almost every race because of how proud she was of him, the woman who showed him a new type of love when he became a father, and the woman he lost because he messed up.
seeing her a crying mess broke his heart, but it also gave him hope. hope that the woman he deeply loves, loved him back still, even if it was just a little bit of love left.
he liked eleanor. she was nice with the kids and very kind to you, but she wasn’t you and she’ll never be you. eleanor was younger than him and wanted to get married, so he agreed. he had nothing to lose, until that very moment in which you poured your soul out to him.
“i never wanted that divorce” he spoke as walked over to you, “and you think i did?” you sniffed, wiping your tears away, “you asked for it…” “because i got tired of giving you signals and second chances that were never taken, max” you sighed.
max felt like shit, to say the least. how could he be so dumb? how could he be so dumb to throw away his family and the love of his life just like that?
“please give me one last chance, i promise i’m not going to fail you and the cubs again”, he sat next to you on the couch, grabbing your hands and squeezing them softly, “max, you’re getting ma-“ “if you don’t want me to get married i won’t. all i need to hear you say it”, he interrupted you.
you were in shock, was he serious?
“i am serious. you know it” he said, almost as if he could read your mind, “please baby girl, i need to hear you say it”, he pleaded, staring into your eyes.
you took a deep breath.
“maxie… please don’t get married” you softly said, eyes watering and lips trembling.
max sighed in relief and hugged you tightly, “i’m never letting you go, ever again” he grabbed your face and kissed you softly.
“i hope you stick to that promise” “you know i will, schatje”

PART 1 I PART 2 I PART 3 I PART 4 I PART 6 | PART 7
______________________________________________________________
It’s a few days after Valentine’s Day that you find yourself alone at home, which is relatively rare. Like every Tuesday night, Leah is at her mother’s house with other people to have a family evening. You haven’t been officially introduced to the Williamsons yet, even though it would have been hard to escape Amanda. Leah’s mom comes to see almost every match of Arsenal, especially since Leah has started playing again. You don’t know what Leah told her about you, but the look she gave you when she first saw you made you blush from head to toe.
When Leah isn’t around, you can usually count on Alessia to be by your side. To chat, laugh at a bad show or simply scroll next to each other on your mobile phones. Generally one cook for the other, having established for a while a turn without really consulting yourself. But tonight Alessia is busy too and you find your apartment very empty. After calling your parents, then Leila, then Ingrid, you notice that it’s still very early but you still decide to go to bed.
You haven’t decided with Leah if she’ll join you at home when her evening is over, but she has your keys and you know she feels comfortable enough at your home to join you at any time.
After a long hot shower, you settle down with your cup of tea and a book in your bed, welcoming with pleasure the warmth of the sheets. It’s only a few tens of minutes later that you hear an awful screech on the window of your bedroom, making you jump.
Standing still for a few moments, you listen, trying to persuade yourself that it’s only your imagination. You’re in the middle of London, there can’t be someone hanging from your window, right? But as you stress level down, you hear the noise again.
Even stronger than before, causing you chills. It sounds like nails on a blackboard and you are now certain that it can only be nails against the window of your room.
With your hand shaking, you grab your phone and write to Leah. You could have called her, but if Thérèse really someone behind your curtains, you don’t want him to hear you.
From You Baby where are you?
From Leebaby 🌹✨ Crushing Grandma at Bingo 😈 Why?
From You I think there is someone behind my bedroom’s window
From Leebaby 🌹✨ What? Is it a joke?
From You No Babe, I swear. Someone’s scratching my window, I just heard it again
Your phone vibrates again in your hands signaling a response from Leah, but it’s another sound that caught your ear this time. Much less disturbing than the idea of a psychopath scratching at your window’s bedroom, you seem to have heard a meow.
Jumping on your legs, it’s with a rest of apprehension that you open the curtain a few centimeters. Two green round eyes look at you, surrounded by a total black fur. When the cat opens his mouth, you hear the same meow again and you decide to open the window to let him in. You’re on the high floors of your building and if that cat falls, you’re not sure if it survives.
Jumping in your bedroom, the cat looks calmly around him.
"Uh. Hey, man?"
You look at each other silently for several moments, before he starts to wash his paws. You blink several times because of the absurdity of the situation.
"Where are you coming from?" you ask with a frown.
You don’t know your neighbors very well, other than Alessia of course, so you wouldn’t be able to tell who in this building has a cat. That cat doesn’t look very old to you, like he hasn’t finished growing yet. And he even looks rather thin. In any case, he ignores you superbly, licking his pads with application.
As you close the window still looking at the black cat, your eyes are drawn to your phone whose screen turns on and off repeatedly. You take it, opening the messages from Leah. Leebaby 🌹✨ Go to your living room and call the police Isn’t Alessia with you? Honey? Why aren’t you answering my calls? ANSWER YOUR FUCKING PHONE You have with that five missed calls from Leah and you hurry up to call her back hoping she hasn’t contacted Scotland Yard yet. The first ring didn’t even have time to sound in full that she has already picked up. "Y/N is that you?" "Yes. Are you in the car?" you ask with a frown, hearing cars sounds in the background. "Yes? You write to me to tell me that there is someone at your window and then I have no answer, obviously I am in my car!" Leah seems to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown and you feel terrible about it. It will now be necessary that you explain to her that your possible assailant was in truth only a ball of black fur which seems to have confused your bedroom with a grooming salon. "Oh Babe, I’m sorry. But everything is fine, you can go back to your Mom. I’m sorry I worried you for nothing" "Accept the video call" "What?" "Accept the video call!" Leah repeats abruptly and you hurry to do it. Leah’s face appears on the screen, her eyebrows frown. She’s still in her car and you look at her with a stern look. "Leah Williamson you better be parked on the side of the road" You roll your eyes when she snorts with a scornful face. "Why did you want to switch to video mode?" "To see that you are alone and that you haven’t be forced to make the call so that someone can murder you in peace" You can’t help but laugh softly when you hear her, but on the other hand the degree of worry she has for you touches you. "I told you to stop with Criminal Minds Babe" you tease her tenderly. "Show me your room"
You willingly accept, even walking around your apartment to reassure her completely. She seems to relax noticing that you are really alone and you go back to your room to sit on your bed.
"What was that noise then?"
You smile again before turning the camera of your smartphone to show her the cat, still installed on the carpet of your bedroom.
"A cat? Where the hell does he come from?" said Leah in a skeptical tone.
"I don’t know. I asked him and he didn’t answer me"
"Haha. Very funny."
You turn the camera in your direction to continue your conversation with Leah, wondering mentally if the store open 24/24 of your neighborhood has any animal food in stock.
"See? I’m fine. You can go back to your Mom and kick more ass"
********
You posted posters with the cat’s photo all over your neighborhood, without anyone contacting you to retrieve the cat. After a visit to the vet, you learn that he’s actually a female and that she’s probably not even a year old. You called him Rasmus first, so you changed her name to Raven. And you bought her a kibble dispenser, a water bowl, a litter box, some toys and a sweet confortable basket that she ignores superbly to sleep on the sofa in the living room or on the bed in the guest room.
Leah was distant in the first place towards Raven, officially because it was because of her that she believed for a few minutes that she would find you slit in the middle of your bedroom. And it’s also true that Leah grew up with dogs rather than cats. She talks about herself as a dog person.
But you caught her recently sitting on your couch scratching Raven behind her ears while watching television. You took care to immortalize the scene with your phone before going to tease her.
Raven is therefore officially a resident of your apartment and this is only a problem when you have a match elsewhere than in London. Leah’s cousin has kindly offered to come and look after Raven in your absence.
The match you are preparing for today however is at home and is a bit special for you since you are playing against Manchester City. Your old club. But it’s especially the idea of seeing your former teammates that fills you with joy, it has been far too long since you could see Leila or Laia.
They arrived a few hours before the match with their bus, so you didn’t have the opportunité to see them before going to the stadium. But it’s without masking your big smile that you find them on the field while they are in full warm-up, arriving with Arsenal’s players.
"I’ll be back!" you scream to your teammates before joining your opponents of the day.
Laia Aleixandri is the first to see you arrive and it’s her who squeezes you against her first. You give her back her hug for a few seconds, before pushing her away with a playful smile when she starts to ruffle your hair.
"It’s good to see you again!" she says happily.
You don’t have time to tell her that you feel the same before you hear Leila call your name. You don’t have time to react either before you find yourself trapped in her embrace and that she make you spin in the air.
"I forgot how extravagant you are" you joke, making them laugh.
You greet your other former teammates with a smile when Leila releases you and exchanges a few words with them. You kept in touch via messages with some, but not everyone. That said, you are sincerely pleased to see them again. You’ve been playing with them for several years, even if you’re no longer part of the same club as them.
"Don’t" you smile to Leila by pushing her hand away when she try to pinch your cheek, at the same time that you hear your name being called.
You turn around to see that it’s Katie who beckons you to join them, training apparently about to begin. With an excuse smile, you say goodbye for the moment to the others before running to your teammates.
"Are you making a deal with the enemy now?" teases Katie while putting an arm around your shoulders to train you towards the others.
"Don’t be so dramatic" you joke in return before going to position yourself naturally near Alessia and Leah.
You notice as soon as your look at her that Leah has her jaw contracted, but when you address a questioning look to her, she just shake her head and look away. Alessia shrug her shoulders when you look at her. But you don’t have time to investigate any longer, Jonas coming to give you the start for the usual pre-game exercises.
Jonas always arranges to give you a time off between the start of the match and his pre-game speech, so you join Leah at her cubby. Unusually quiet, she has her headphones in her ears and her gaze fixed on an imaginary spot on the floor. Sitting next to her, you gently lean on her to get her attention.
If her eyes turn to you, she doesn’t take off her headphones.
"Are you okay?" You ask her with curiosity, in a voice low enough not to be heard by others. "Leah?" you add when she doesn’t answer you.
You wonder for a few seconds if she hears you, but Leah finally nods.
"Sure?"
"Can we talk about this later?"
"Of course"
The smile she gives you looks more like a grimace and is far from reassuring you. But you’d rather not insist, deciding to listen to music too. Leaning against the wall, you watch Leah from the corner of your eye and smile softly when you feel her looking for your hand to interlace your fingers.
You gently squeeze her hand in yours and the smile that she addresses you is more sincere than earlier. You lean to kiss her shoulder, both of you deciding against PDA at work.
The game is pretty tight and you play the 90 minutes that the game lasts. Finding yourself marked by Laia amuses you a lot, even if she has the advantage of knowing your qualities and your defects, you manage several times to pass her to put their guardian in danger. The final result was 3-2, with Caitlin and Alessia scoring the first two goals.
It’s only in the 86th minute that you find your way to the net, allowing your team to win.
"That’s my girl!" Leah happily exclaims, pinching both your cheeks before kissing it, making you laugh.
A few minutes later the end of the match is whistled, allowing Arsenal to win three important points in the battle at the top of the ranking. As at the end of each match, you follow your teammates around the stadium, thanking the spectators for coming.
Scoring the winning goal against your old club is a strange feeling, but you are relieved to see that the different members of the team and even the staff don’t seem to hold you against it when you come to greet them. While you are in the middle of a discussion with your former coach, you feel two arms grabbing you by the waist and it doesn’t take you long to understand that it’s Leila.
"I have the same feeling of a proud mother who has just seen her child do his first mistake" Leila jokes, making you smile. "You’re still progressing, I’m sure than in less than 2 years you will have your Ballon d’or. Maybe I’ll forget you for the goal that day"
You laugh, not answering anyway. Other players from City are joining you, from Arsenal too, as Laia Codina. She also knows Laia and Leila well, having played with them for the same national team. Leila doesn’t let go of you for a single second, but you pay no more attention than that. You know perfectly well the touchy nature of Leila and you know very well that there is nothing more behind.
"Stop" you warn her by clapping her hand when she tries again to pinch your cheek.
"Why? Is it reserved for Williamson now?" she asks with a mischievous smile
"Leah" you frowns, not really liking the way Leila refers to Leah.
"I saw her more cheerful after a win actually" Chloe said, with whom you also played last season.
Surprised by her remark, you turn to look for Leah. You find her in conversation with Lia and Beth, a visibly upset look on her face. You can see that Lia is talking to her while Beth seems to agree to what she is saying, but from where you are, it’s obviously impossible to understand what they are saying.
When you go back to the locker room, not without having promised to visit them in Manchester soon, you aren’t surprised to see that some of your teammates have already left. What you didn’t expect was to see no trace of your captain girlfriend in it.
"She already went home, she said she had something to do" Alessia informs you with a sorry smile.
"Oh."
You’re having a hard time hiding your disappointment. Since she started playing again, you’ve got into the habit of going home together. Either your home or her home. Sometimes parties are organized to celebrate your victories and you go there together. When it’s not the case, you sometimes invite Lia or Katie and Caitlin to join you with Alessia for a rather quiet evening. Or you’re just the two of you. Either way, you’re always together. But once again, you’re not really together so she didn’t have anything to say to you, right?
Since you have time, you decide to shower here, trying to digest the strange sensation in the pit of your stomach. Leah didn’t write to you before she left either, you took the time to check your phone before going in the shower.
Between her behavior before the game, the surge of affection she had during your goal and her hasty departure from today, you have trouble understanding what is happening. The locker room is almost empty when you come out from your long shower, in truth there is only Alessia left.
"You, you idiot. You wanted to go back home with the subway?" replies the blonde with amusement when you ask her what she’s waiting.
It’s true that you came with Leah by car, which adds to your misunderstanding. The blonde would never left you there without bringing you back if everything was okay.
"Did she tell you what she had to do?" you ask quietly Alessia later, while you’re in her car.
After glancing at you, Alessia responds negatively shaking her head. Taking your phone out of your pocket, you send a message to Leah to ask if she’ll join you tonight. You hate this feeling in the pit of your stomach and you focus on Alessia’s breathing to discreetly layer yours on hers.
It’s only when you arrive home that you receive the answer from Leah, informing you that she will join you later. You don’t know when, but at least you know she’s coming. You’re greatfull to Alessia who choose to stay with you for diner while you both watch TV.
It’s actually much later that Leah finally joined you, Alessia has already returned to her apartment after falling asleep two times in your lap. And it has been a long time since Raven rolled herself in ball in the armchair under the window to begin her night. Leah seems to have a hard time opening the door to your apartment and when you see her coming in you quickly understand why.
"Are you drunk?" you ask when you look at her, frowning.
"No" laughs Leah before getting rid of her shoes and her bag that she leaves at the entrance.
She is definitely drunk.
"Where were you?" you ask without getting off of the couch.
It’s not like her to go out alone for a drink and you wonder what happened. Apparently she left on her own after the game, at least that’s what Alessia told you and you trust her completely on the subject.
"Oh, we’re getting inquisitive now, aren’t we?"
Leah’s tone is light, but you only have to cross her eyes to understand that something is wrong. But you still don’t understand what and it annoys you, usually you get to understand her quickly.
"I don’t understand"
You follow Leah with your eyes when she drops on the couch next to you, sighing for a long time before pinching her nose.
"Leah, what’s going on?" You ask when you turn in her direction.
"I’m Leah again now? Better and better"
You’re starting to lose patience with her behavior, but you know it’s probably not the things to show her. You feel like you’re dealing with an annoying, sulky teenager. So you take a deep breath and let a few seconds pass to allow you to relax a little before resuming the speech.
"Can you answer my questions please? Where did you went at the end of the game?"
"Home"
You honestly didn’t expect that answer given her intoxication, but you decided to believe her. Leah never lied to you in her life.
"Why didn’t you wait for me?" you ask softly.
Your disappointment is probably a little childish, so you try to hide it from Leah. She already looks weird, no need to push her to the limit with this kind of behavior.
"Dunno. You seemed busy with your friends."
"I hadn’t seen them for a long time, but you could have waved at me or come to me. I would have go with you, I didn’t realize we’d been talking for this long."
"You didn’t present me to them, I didn’t want to interrupt anything"
"I would have if you came"
Leah snorts for any answer, merely crossing her arms on her chest and staring at the television screen in front of her. You gently put your hand on her knee, always trying to figure out what’s going on in her head.
"What did you want to talk to me about later in the locker room?"
"Nothing important."
"Leah" you sigh softly, starting to be annoyed by her behavior.
"Stop calling me that!"
You’re surprised when you hear the annoyed tone she uses, watching her get up nervously to go around the couch and search something in the fridge. She also seems to be angry and you are even more frustrated not to understand why. So you get up to follow her, determined to get information that will allows you to understand.
"So stop running away from the conversation and tell me what’s going on, gosh!"
The tone of your voice would allow anyone to understand your annoyance and when Leah comes out of the fridge with a bottle of water, you can read the anger on her face.
"What do you want me to tell you? That I can’t stand a fucking poor girl touching my girlfriend in front of everyone?"
Your face becomes perfectly smooth under the surprise and that’s probably what makes Leah realize that she literally just yelled at you. It’s her who talks first, apparently completely de-alcoholized in a split second.
"Babe, I’m sorry" she makes in a softer voice, gently taking your arm in her hand, scaring by your emotionless face.
Leah imagines that your sudden muteness is related to the way she spoke to you and she fears terribly that her behavior may have reminded you in some way all that you have lived with your ex-girlfriend. She has no idea that your mind is completely elsewhere.
"What did you just say?" you ask in a low voice, looking carefully at her.
"I know, I should never have talked to you like this, I’m sorry Honey…"
While continuing to talk, Leah gently takes your face in her hands, looking at your eyes.
"No. You said girlfriend."
"Yes?"
It’s Leah’s turn to be a little lost in your conversation. She sees you looking for something in her eyes that she doesn’t understand, but you fortunately quickly resume the conversation.
"Do you consider me as your girlfriend?"
"Y/N what the hell? Yes?"
"You never asked me officially" you point out at her
"I thought it made sense given the relationship we have. We sleep together, almost live at eachother’s and I told you I’m in love with you"
It’s true that seen like this… You find yourself a little silly and even blushing. You turn away your eyes to shake your head gently. But when you turn your attention to Leah, she looks at you with a slight smile.
"Do you want me to ask you officially?" she teases.
"Stop making fun of me" you mumble, sticking yourself against her to hide your face in the hollow of her neck.
Leah puts her arms around your waist to tighten you against her, but it doesn’t prevent her from speaking again.
"Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?"
You don’t answer, but you can’t help but smile against her skin. You hear her smile when she talks and she gently pinches your ribs when you don’t answer.
"I’m waiting for an answer" Leah sings mischievously.
"Yes" you just answer, taking your face off her to look at her.
"I’m sorry I yelled at you. I shouldn’t have let my frustration take over, I swear it won’t happen again."
You acquiesce gently, preferring not to point out to her that the broken promises were a large part of your relationship with Helena precisely. Instead, you’d rather answer her something else.
"I know the difference between that and the abusive behavior she had. Don’t worry" you smile tenderly.
Leah responds to your smile with an uncertain look and you lean over her to kiss her tenderly. You feel like you’re relaxing in your exchange and you feel like Leah is, too.
"Can I take you to bed then, Girlfriend?"
You laugh when you hear her talk but you accept willingly.
********
Leah’s jealousy is something that made you happy, a kind of mark of attention and affection you never expected. This has nothing to do with your ex’s need for unhealthy control and even though you tried to explain to Leah the differences you made between your argument and your past, The amount of attention and flowers you received after that was nevertheless very impressive.
Leah stopped bringing you flowers every day but it finally became a habit for her to bring some back every Tuesday night when she meets you after her family nights. Now that Raven understands that this is not a snack for her, you sincerely appreciate having flowers that decorate your apartment.
And you appreciate more to see that this dispute hasn’t changed anything between you, on the contrary. You now know that you can designate her as your girlfriend to your loved ones and the change was not missed by anyone.
"When are you gonna introduce her to us?" your mom asked you the last time you had them on the phone.
You never officially introduced one of your girlfriends to them, and for good reason. They only needed to see Helena once to understand her and Alina was never so motivated to go up to Norway during her holidays.
"I’ll talk to her" you just said.
You haven't yet talked about your summer vacation, whether you would spend it together or whether you would spend it alone. Usually you will spend some time in Norway before flying a little further south. Last year you only had little time given the World Cup, even if you got out quite quickly.
That was the subject you wanted to discuss with Leah tonight. You’re at her home for once, usually you tend to choose your apartment to be with Raven. But you decided to cook together and her kitchen is definitely bigger than yours and more convenient for that.
You chose something simple, after looking at Norwegian recipes to please you, Leah found that most were made with fish, which she hates. So you kindly offered her homemade pizzas, which she accepted.
You were doing the dishes when Leah gets a message on her phone as you pass by. It’s only mechanically that you look at the screen, your eyes attracted by the light it projects. And you feel your stomach writhing violently when you see who just wrote to her.
Jordan Nobbs.
The name and surname are entered in the contact, leaving no doubt about the person. Although you suddenly stop in your movements, Leah doesn’t notice anything, thrown into her conversation and happily spraying her kitchen with frothy water while doing the dishes.
"Are you okay?" asks Leah curiously, realizing that you haven’t answered her for two minutes.
Her gaze becomes anxious when she turns to you and you briefly wonder what face you are making.
"Are you still talking to Jordan?" you ask, frowning.
The question seems to surprise Leah, who looks at you while frowning in turn.
"From time to time, why?" she finally answers you.
"You told me she left you down. Why would you talk to her again?" you answered with a slightly accusing tone.
"She started writing to me again after the game against Aston Villa" Leah explains, resting her sponge and a pan next to the sink.
"You no longer follow each other on social networks but you write messages to each other? It doesn't make any sense"
You have a hard time understanding the logic behind it and, as you try not to get carried away by emotions that you can’t even figure out, at the same time try to keep a normal conversation tone.
"Why do you take it like that? We’re not doing anything wrong"
Frowning, Leah also seems to have trouble understanding what’s going on in your head and it’s probably even more frustrating. Sometimes you feel like she understands you better than you. But not tonight.
"I don’t know, how would you take it if you found out I was talking to my exes without telling you?"
"Jordan has nothing to do with your ex" sighs Leah skilfully dodging your question.
Do you feel frustration mingling with jealousy and a form of… betrayal? The term may be a bit strong. Your hands shake when you put down the laundry you used to wipe the dishes.
"Of course, the perfect little Jordan is surely coming back only for a friendship." you mumble, loud enough for Leah to hear.
"Don’t talk about her like that"
"Why are you defending her?" you almost shout while crossing your arms on your chest.
Instead of answering you, Leah rolls her eyes before sighing and turning her back on you. A gesture that means that she prefers not to answer to avoid continuing the dispute that is announced, but in your mind it means that she doesn’t want to answer because she suspects that you will not like her answer.
"You know what? Go talk to your dear sweet Jordan, I’m out of here."
"What?!"
That’s how you find yourself going home with a heavy heart. Leah tried to hold you back, obviously, but you managed to leave. Maybe yelling at her at her front door that she has to leaving you alone with a bad word or two helped. Certainly.
You have to take three times to park your car on your parking space because of your shaking hands and your incapacity to stay focused. When you enter your apartment, you are surprised to see Alessia sitting on your sofa, Raven on her knees.
"Leah called"
You growl for any answer and enter your bathroom to take a long hot shower, which you do every time you feel overwhelmed by your emotions. It’s impossible for you that Jordan come back just to have a friendly conversation with Leah and you’re sure she came back to talk to her only because she saw the connection you had with the blonde. You can’t believe Leah would betray you like that. And worse, not understanding why it bother you that way.
You realize when you get out of the shower that you left your phone in your car, but you decide that you will look for it tomorrow. The parking is secure and you don’t want to go out, anyway you doubt you need it tonight. Leah won’t write to you after you yelled at her the way you did. At least that’s what you say to yourself. In reality, you have some missed call and messages from her already.
It's lying on your bed that you find Alessia when returning to your room.
"What happened?" asks the blonde after you lie under the covers and turn your back to her.
"Leah probably told you, no?"
"No. She just asked me to let her know when you got home. She seemed worried."
You snorts for any answer and let go a few seconds before answering, turning to lay on your back. Alessia doesn’t seem to be in a hurry, leaving you time. She has gotten to know you over time too.
"She's talking to Jordan again" you end up mumbling.
"How do you know?" Alessia asks softly.
"I saw when she got a message earlier. She didn’t even tell me, I have to found out myself Less"
"You asked her why she didn’t tell you?"
Alessia, always good advice, calm and thoughtful. You sincerely admire her ability to see things and her sincere way of believing that everyone is kind. She’s too precious for this world.
"… No"
"Why?"
You shrug your shoulders for any answer. You were probably too busy feeling jealous and betrayed to show common sense. Alessia quickly seems to understand what happened and passes a hand in your hair.
"Sleep and you can talk about it together tomorrow, yeah?"
You answer silently once again, nodding. You doubt you can fall asleep without Leah wrapped around you to be completely honest.
"Do you want me to stay?" proposes Alessia and you mentally note to have her build a gold statue in your future house.
"Please"
********
Despite your doubts about your ability to fall asleep, you end up sinking, exhausted by all the emotions of the evening. Your sleep is far from restorative and relaxing that said, nightmares haunting you since you fall asleep.
Until you were startled awake, Alessia shaking you like a plum tree. The last images of your dream evaporate while your eyes focus on her face and the darkness of your bedroom.
"God are you okay?" stutters Alessia and you can see the fear on her face. "You were screaming, I was trying to wake you up but…"
Fast breathing, you look around, trying to chase away the sensations and images of your dream. You sit on your bed and press your palms over your eyes with enough force to make stars appear. Only then do you realize your cheeks are wet with tears.
"What can I do? What do you need?"
It was a nightmare like you haven’t had in a long time. Since the night you confided in Leah.
"Y/N? Please talk to me" Alessia kindly said.
"Leah... I want Leah" you whisper
You don’t know if Leah was sleeping when Alessia called her, but you’re already feeling a little relieved to learn she’s on her way. You didn’t really understand the words they exchanged, focused on your nightmare. After hanging up, Alessia offered you to freshen up, which turned out to be a good idea. When you return to your room, you see that she took out clean clothes that she put on your bed.
You move Raven who had settled on your fresh clothes before putting them on. The images of your dream quickly come back to mind and it’s shivering that you go back under your sheets. Alessia not knowing if you are comfortable enough for her to see you like this, she appears just to give you a hot tea she prepared for you before informing you that she will wait for Leah in the living room. But that you can call her if you need anything, of course.
You lose track of time, your mind shaken by your emotions and memories of your dream and your past like a small wooden boat in an ocean of waves.
When you feel the bed moving next to you, it only takes a few seconds to recognize Leah’s smell. Without a word, she slips under the sheets with you, passing her arms around your waist and sticking herself against your back.
"Leah?" You mutter though, your voice barely recognizable.
"I’m here" she whispers in a reassuring tone. "What happened?"
"Nightmare"
"You wanna talk about it?"
You shake your head negatively, rather focused on your attempts to stabilize your breathing and heart rate. You’re well helped by Leah’s presence, like every time. She’s like your dream catcher. Patiently waiting for you to calm down enough to speak, she gently caresses your arm with her fingertips, whispering comforting words to your ear.
Your breathing gets slower and slower and after a while Leah must think you’re asleep. She slowly detaches from you to avoid waking you, but jumps when you turn around suddenly and grabs her arm.
"Don’t leave" you beg her as she regains her inital position.
"I’m not leaving. I just wanted to take your cup back to the kitchen. It’s okay."
If it had been someone else, or even if it had been at another time in your life, you would probably have been uncomfortable feeling so dependent on someone. But it seems to you sometimes that the universe made you wait for the right time to meet Leah and get closer. Even if you struggled the first weeks and even if you have some topics to discuss soon, starting with Jordan.
But you don’t want to think about it right now. Leah passes her hands around your waist, squeezing you against her again except this time you’re face to face. It doesn’t bother you, you take advantage of your proximity to bury your face in the hollow of her neck. It has become your thing. Leah does it every morning when you wake up and you do it when you’re tired or when you need comfort.
"Were you sleeping?" you ask after a few seconds.
"No" simply answers Leah, playing with your hair.
"Why?"
"I couldn’t"
You feel her shrug slightly and you step back a little to put your face on your cushion and be able to look at her. She does look tired, but given the face you must have, you prefer not to comment.
"Why?" you ask instead.
"I hate when we fight"
You remain silent to this answer, not knowing what to say. Her eyes are always plunged into yours when you sigh gently before looking away.
"Me too" you end up answering
The reason for your argument tonight were chased by your bad dream, but the insecurities that you may have felt at that time quickly come back to your mind. You don’t know how to approach the subject with Leah and you secretly hope that her magical power to read your thoughts will start working again quickly.
"I’ve been thinking about what you told me" said Leah, her face still a few inches from yours.
"Which part of the discussion?"
You retain a grimace, remembering very well the not necessarily very nice words you said when you left her on the doormat of her house.
"When you asked me how I would react if I heard you were still in contact with Alina or the other psycho."
"The Other Psycho" became your ex-girlfriend’s official nickname when Leah talked about her.
"I don’t think I could handle it, to be honest. And not just because they shared your life at a time, but because they hurt you and they don’t deserve any attention."
You bite your lip, looking for the best words to try to share your point of view.
"Jordan made you suffer too"
By leaving and probably without being as present as Leah could be for her when it was Jordan who was injured. You’re kind of sorry you weren’t there for Leah from the start of her injury, but at least you were there for her big comeback.
"I know" said Leah gently "I didn’t wanted to hide from you that we talk from time to time, but after the match against Aston Villa we had all this shit up and really these are only messages from time to time. The last time she wrote to me before today was for Christmas."
You only have to look into her eyes to know that she is telling you the pure and simple truth.
"It’s just… it’s Jordan, you know? People loved you together and there’s a lot of people who keep hoping that you’ll be a couple again. And she was a part of your life for a long time"
"I’m not going to lie to you" Leah begins softly, sighing before rolling on her back. "Jordan is my first love and it won’t change, but things ended between us for a reason."
The silence settles for a few seconds, during which your gaze is lost on the wall in front of you. The ease of getting lost in your thoughts makes you jump when Leah turns to you again.
"Jordan was my first love, but if I can choose I would like you to be the last. I know th… Why are you crying?"
It’s stronger than you and to admit it all, you’re probably a sentimental mess right now. You manage to tell her that you don’t know between two sobs, which makes her laugh gently before drawing you against her. You obviously let yourself be, finding with pleasure the reassurance of her arms.
"You have nothing to worry about with Jordan or anyone else, I promise" Leah adds after a few seconds.
You nod, starting to talk again once your sobs have subsided.
"We’ve been fighting a lot the last few days, already the other time with Leila and today. I don’t understand what’s happening to us. It's scare me" you mumble.
"It happens and it’s even normal when we share so much time together. I mean I love being with you, but we’re almost every minute of the day together. We can’t never fight. It doesn’t mean we don’t love each other. We just need to keep communicating as well as possible."
She's right and you know it, you don't hesitate to tell her. You feel your body finally relaxing, for the first time since you saw Jordan’s name on her phone.
"Talking to your ex too?" Leah asks after a few moments.
"No"
"Great."
You smile softly and lift your head off her chest to look at her.
"I’m sorry I yelled at you" you say, slightly frowned.
"You’re forgiven" Leah replies before stealing a kiss "What you went through with Alina is not right either, you know. She shouldn’t have done that to you."
You shrug your shoulders, not really knowing what to say. But it's true that infidelity destroys much of the self-confidence and confidence you can have in others. The beginning of your relationship with Leah can prove it.
"I don’t want to talk about her anymore" you end up mumbling
"It suits me very well. Like that I maybe won’t want to break her two legs at the next game"
You laugh softly when Leah takes you back against her, crashing your lips against hers. The weight you felt on your chest flew away and you can finally breathe properly again. You even smile, pressing your face against her jaw after the kiss.
"Maybe I’ll ask Katie to do it" Leah jokes with a dreamy look.
"Stop" you answer while rolling your eyes.
"Speaking of our teammates, I think you really scared Less" Leah continues caressing your back.
You grimace this time, feeling guilty thinking about the look and face she had when you woke up.
"I’ll apologize tomorrow"
Leah answers you with a grunt before yawning. It’s been a long night for both of you, even though you’ve got a few more hours of sleep than Leah has. You notice that she's falling asleep when you put a kiss on her cheek.
"Thanks for asking me to come" Leah mumbles without opening her eyes.
"Thank you for coming"
Leah has a new smile and opens an eye to look at you when you put a new kiss on her jaw this time.
"Go to sleep Honey. I love you."
"I love you more" you answer.
"Nope, it's me"
"It's obviously me"
"Can't hear you, I'm sleeping."
"God, you're so annoying" you laugh, watching her faking a peaceful sleep.
You kiss her again, on her lips this time. And because she's asleep and you can, you let your eyes gently slide her face.
You admire each of her features. The way her lashes draw shadows on her relaxed face, her jaw perfectly drawn. If you could draw yourself a girlfriend, she would be perfectly similar to Leah.
"Stop staring you creep"
Even if you thought she was perfectly asleep, Leah grabs your pillow and crushes it on your face, triggering your laughters. It seems to annoy Raven who leaves the room not without throwing you a look of reproaches, certainly to go settle peacefully on "her" armchair.

SLIGHT CHAPTER 4 SPOILERS
Canon divergence(?)
The number of times I had this song on REPEAT as I wrote this
Pairing: Caleb / Female! Reader
Genre: Mutual pining; Slow burn; Fluff; Romance; Angst
Summary: Falling in love with Caleb wasn’t love at first sight. Falling in love with him was more like a thief in the night- unexpected.
Tumblr media
Growing up with Grandma exposed her to two people: Caleb and Zayne.
Caleb had invited her and Zayne over. Why bother having two different playdates when he could have one playdate with his two best friends in the world, right?
She looked up at the boy standing in front of her. “You’re the famous Zayne that he keeps rambling about. Besides getting into the Aerospace Academy, you’re all he ever talks about.”
“He talks about me?” Zayne asked, a bit shocked.
She nodded. “Mhm!”
“Zayne! (Y/N)! You’re here!” Caleb said, running into the backyard where they had been waiting.
“About time, Caleb.” Zayne scolded, his arms crossing over his chest.
Caleb put up his hands in defense. “I was only five minutes late, Zayne!”
“Then next time, you should set an alarm.”
She laughed at their small argument. “You two act so much like brothers!”
They stared at each other before Caleb joined in on the laughter. Zayne huffed, his friend’s tardiness erased from his mind.
~*~*~
Caleb and Zayne were like the brothers she never had. Despite going to different schools, she was there for them as they were for her. They always walked her to and from school. They studied, played, and had sleepovers. And as the years went by, the trio became inseparable. Following the boys she looked up to so much, she did everything she could to get into the same private university. Sure, it was a difficult process, but her hard work was worth it.
She loved Caleb and Zayne and she told them every single day. Yet… there was a different subtext whenever she told Caleb that, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
“You’re dating the one guy in your coding class, right? Yet you set everything aside for Caleb and Zayne. Not to mention the whole saying “I love you” to them. Is your boyfriend okay with that?” The words of her friend echoed in her mind as she walked home.
“That’s a stupid question.” She muttered. “I love them, but in a familial, platonic kind of way.”
“(Y/N)!”
Her gaze shifted up from the concrete to the direction of the voice that called her. “Zayne?” She breathed out.
She stopped as he caught up to her. Placing his hands on her shoulders, he shook her gently. “Are you okay? Are you hurt? After our classes ended, Caleb told me that you weren’t feeling well.”
(Y/N) blinked, putting her hands up in reassurance. “I’m fine, Zayne! I just have a small headache.”
His eyes looked up and down, head tilting left and right, making sure she had no symptoms of any other illness. Zayne grumbled, cursing Caleb under his breath. She held onto his arms, comforting him. “Hey… I’m okay.”
He exhaled as he released his grip from her shoulders. “He exaggerated, didn’t he?”  He said, letting his hands drop to his sides.
She giggled, already walking past him. “I swear, you believe him a little too easily sometimes.”
“Hey, I was worried.” He said, turning to catch up with her. Now walking at her side, he continued. “I promised your grandmother that I’d watch you both.”
They continued to walk in the semi-comforting silence. The street lights lighting their way home. The conversation stopped there, leaving a lingering tension. It wasn’t a bad feeling. More like- there was something else that needed to be said.
‘It’s not me you should be concerned about. Caleb worries and cares about you more than I ever could.’
Tumblr media
“Hello?”
“Hello, just called to update you on the status of his exams,” Zayne replies.
“Wait, is that (Y/N)?” She heard a second voice ask.
“Of course, it’s-”
“(Y/N)! Guess what happened!” She heard Caleb butt in, taking the phone from Zayne.
She laughed. “How’d the exam go? What happened?”
“I got into the Aerospace Academy!” He cheered.
“Caleb, that’s amazing! I’m so proud of you! You deserve it!” She cheered.
“Thanks (Y/N). You’ve always been my number one supporter!”
“And what am I? The understudy? I got into the top residency program in the city, can I get some applause?” Zayne mumbled.
“I heard that, Doctor Zayne!”
“I’m not a licensed doctor yet.”
“We should go out and celebrate this weekend!” Caleb suggested.
“Of course! Just text me the details.”
“For sure! Alright, we’ll stop bugging you now! Come on, Doctor Z.”
“Give my phone back,” A small pause. “and (Y/N), don’t be like Caleb and overwork yourself, okay?”
“I won’t, but the same goes for you.” She huffed.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
“Good. See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow.”
CLICK!
She put her phone back in her pocket and walked back inside the library. Her boyfriend took a break from his laptop and looked up. “What was that all about?”
“Oh! Caleb got into the Aerospace Academy and Zayne got into his residency program which I think is pretty cool!”
Her rambling fell to deaf ears as he had enough of her constant babble about her friends. “(Y/N), we need to talk.”
“I’m sure we can talk about it later! Come on, we need to study!” She said, sitting back down and pulling her textbook close.
“(Y/N), will you just listen?” He groaned in frustration.
She closed her textbook. “This sounds serious. What’s on your mind?”
“What I’m trying to say is…”
“Is…?”
“I’ve been thinking about this for a long while now…” He paused, all prior confidence leaving him in that instant- insecurities quickly filling his mind.
Despite Caleb and Zayne being her childhood friends, her boyfriend thought they were the type of guys that he hoped she’d avoid, but he wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t. They were skilled, intelligent, and popular. Who wouldn’t want to be like them?
“Hey, if you have something important to say, then say it.” She said, trying to get his attention.
“I… I want to break up.”
“Oh, okay.” Her expression softened.
“That’s it? That’s all you have to say?”
“What else is there to say? You’re the one that wants to break up.”
An uncomfortable silence filled the room. She wanted to say more, but she decided against it. Her eyes went back to her textbook as she slowly reached for her pencil. “We can finish this exercise and we can call it a day.” The sound of flipping pages and pencil lead scratching against the paper made the room feel so much bigger, and her feeling so much smaller.
Once the work was completed, they parted ways. “See you at school, (Y/N).”
“Yeah, you too.” She didn’t like the heavy, yet empty feeling that sat in her heart.
~*~*~
Observant as ever, Caleb and Zayne knew something was wrong. However, it didn’t take long for the news to reach their ears. No words were exchanged when they looked at each other. They just nodded, knowing that they were going to do whatever it took to cheer up their best friend.
After classes, they made their way to the convenience store to buy ice cream and other snacks. When they got to her place, her grandmother let them in right away. She knew that if anyone could cheer her up, it was those two.
Now, actively ignoring her best friends was a bad idea, but it wasn’t her first breakup. The weight of it all was too much to bear, and she knew she had to be strong. Besides, what did they know about healing hearts? Zayne knew how to fix a heart in the literal sense, not metaphorical, and Caleb was usually the cause of his fangirls’ broken hearts. Granted, he wasn’t leading them on, he just wasn’t ready for a relationship, but that didn’t soften the blow of rejection.
Her head rested on the pillow she held close to her chest. Her hair was unkempt and the tears kept flowing down her cheeks. Earbuds were playing the music that once brought her joy. The words that made her heart flutter were now just a painful reminder of what she once had. When she saw her ex in class, he seemed unphased by the break-up. He smiled brighter. Last night, she was so nonchalant about it, so why was she crying now?
She hated being alone while being in a headspace like the one she was in now. It caused her to overthink, but she didn’t want to burden her loved ones with such trivial problems.
The sound of faint knocks on her door broke her from her spiral of intrusive thoughts, causing her to look up from her tear-stained pillow and towards the door. She sniffled, wiping her nose with her sleeve.
Brushing the hair that stuck to her cheeks, she cleared her throat. “I’m fine, grandma! Just need some alone time…” She said, her voice coming to a whisper by the end.
She heard the doorknob turn which caused her to panic. She gripped onto the fabric of her pillowcase. “I said!-”
“Hey, we heard what happened,” Zayne said as he slowly opened the door. He and Caleb slowly made their way to the edge of her bed, snacks in hand.
“B-But we can leave if you want some alone time.” Caleb cut in.
Who were they kidding? How could they possibly make her feel better? Surely, she’d want the company of her girl friends. They’d know what to do, right?
She didn’t meet their gaze at first, her fingers now playing with the fabric. Could she depend on them for temporary comfort? It wasn’t until she heard the bag full of snacks being placed on the work desk that made her look up at them. She quickly grabbed the sleeve of Caleb’s jacket.
“Please don’t leave…”
“We weren’t planning to,” Caleb replied, sitting down next to her on the mattress. Zayne sat down on her other side, rubbing circles on her back.
‘If you were mine, I’d never hurt you.’ Caleb thought as she continued to cry into his shoulder. But he knew better.
Tumblr media
To say he had a crush was an understatement. No- Caleb was in love with her. Despite him wanting to be something more, her happiness and feelings came first. They were friends and that’s all they ever were.
“Caleb… I-”
“You need a pick me up?”
“Yeah…”
“Zayne said he’s got things to do so he can’t make it. But I’ll be there in twenty-five, okay?”
“That’s okay. Zayne has already done so much and I don’t mind spending some time with just you.”
He chuckled. “Do you want me to bring some snacks?”
“Yes, please! Do you know those honey butter chips? Could you get some of those?” (Y/N) sniffled.
“Of course. Okay, I’ll start heading over. See you soon.”
“See ya soon…”
CLICK!
When Caleb walked inside, he almost dropped the bag due to her almost immediately bear-hugging him. “Whoa, (Y/N)! At least let me put down my bag.” He said, awkwardly patting her head.
Once she let go, they walked into the living room and settled on the couch. Caleb pulled out a bag of honey butter chips and handed it to her. She mumbled a small thanks.
They both sat in silence as she munched on the crunchy heaven. He knew that something wasn’t right. He felt like he was stepping around eggshells as he tried to figure out a way to start talking to her, not knowing what to say or how to say it.
“(Y/N)… Are you okay?”
She paused for a moment and put the bag of chips down. “I’m just… having a hard time lately. Exams, some group projects that I’ve had to shoulder most of the weight, and moving on from him. I loved him! I gave my all to him, but he said I spent too much time with you guys…” She sighed.
Caleb gave her a sympathetic look, trying to understand what she was going through. Who was he kidding? He couldn’t possibly put himself in her shoes.
His mouth opened as if he wanted to say something, but closed back up in fear of making the situation worse. Instead of saying a thing, he moved the chip bag to the table and scooted closer to her. He gently grabbed her wrist before pulling her into a hug, holding her firmly but gently in his embrace.
He knew that under her confident, carefree yet hardworking personality, she carried the world on her shoulders. She ran fast- her head was always looking forward, preparing for the next phase of her life, always analyzing, always changing. She laughed hard- even at the most trivial things, like Zayne having rice crumbs on his face because the food was so good that all manners were out the door. And she was kind- she tried her damn hardest to accommodate everyone’s concerns.
To Caleb, actions spoke louder than words. When it came to hugging her, he knew to make sure that she was the first one to pull away. “Things will get better… Zayne and I? We’ll always be here for you. And your other friends too. Just don’t be afraid to ask for help.” He whispered.
“Thank you, Caleb.” She replied softly.
(Y/N) sniffled, burying her head into his shoulder, her tears wetting his jacket. He held her tighter, rubbing circles on her back, trying to soothe her. After a while of quiet sobs and sniffles, she pulled away, looking up at him. “Thank you so much.”
Caleb leaned in and kissed her forehead. “You’re welcome.”
~*~*~
The months passed by and graduation had finally arrived. “Stop thinking too far ahead, (Y/N)! We just graduated.” Caleb said, playfully nudging her shoulder as they walked away from the university campus.
“I have to agree. You need to learn to live in the moment.” Zayne jokes, nudging her other side.
“Hey!” She squeaked as she bumped into Caleb’s side.
“Careful, (Y/N)! I won’t be here to catch you all the time~” Caleb teased, gently holding onto her arm, making sure she was steady.
Zayne huffed. “That’s why I’m here to make sure you two don’t do anything dumb.”
She rolled her eyes, playfully smacking their arms with her diploma case. “Ugh, you two are so mean to me!”
The crimson sky soon faded to a dark shade of navy blue. The stars were more evident than ever. The winter winds were making their last rounds before handing the torch to spring.
As they made their way home, Caleb and Zayne got lost in their conversation about their future endeavors. She ended up trailing behind, but still close enough to hear their rambling.
When she looked up, it came to her attention how much taller they were. Since they were little, the three of them were always similar in height. Now they were giants. Giants with plans for the future. Up until that day, she always looked forward. Now, she wanted nothing more than to look back- for this moment in time to stand still.
~*~*~
Zayne was aware of their late-night rendezvous. It started with the three of them sneaking out to buy ice cream and watch television until the ungodly hours of the night. But as he caught on to their feelings for each other, he purposefully made excuses to not go.
“Zayne didn’t answer. So I guess he fell asleep.” Caleb said, slightly relieved.
“Let him sleep. We can hang out without him!” She cheered in a hushed tone, careful not to wake her grandmother.
“I feel bad. You’re getting good at Mario Kart. You might beat Zayne next time.” He teased, interlocking his pinky with hers.
She adjusted her hold, now fully holding his hand. “Don’t tell him that! Then I might feel bad when I inevitably win~” She said, feeding into their banter. She tugged on his hand, “Let’s go get the snacks first!”
It didn’t even register in his mind that they were holding hands until he noticed that his thumb was rubbing hers.  Caleb looked down at their hands just as she began to pull away. He took that as a sign to gently squeeze her hand in reassurance.
That night, they did their usual activities. They ate the snacks as they raced each other on different tracks. (Y/N) throwing a pillow at his face to shut him up when he groaned in frustration when she bumped him off the track on Rainbow Road. Then they proceeded to watch movies, cuddled up in each other's arms.
Every time they had their late-night hangouts, their feelings for each other increased just a bit more. They fell in love for the night, but when they woke up, they would forget- or rather, push aside said feelings- in the morning.
From an outsider’s point of view, they’d think of them as a couple. And in a sense, they were. In everything, but the title.
Tumblr media
“Caleb, who are we waiting for?” Rafayel asked, his hands resting on his hips. Waiting for a fifth person was not how he wanted to spend his day.
“Chill, Raf! She’s about five minutes away.” Caleb pouted.
“You’re bringing your girlfriend to our hangout?” Xavier added.
“What happened to the bro code?”
“Not his girlfriend,” Zayne mumbled.
Before anyone could say anything else, (Y/N) turned the corner. “Caleb! Zayne!” She cheered, running to the friends she missed so much.
Caleb held his arms out, bracing for impact from her hug. Being used to her surprise hugs, he braced himself. When she ran into his embrace, she relaxed, nuzzling her face into his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
‘Lavender and vanilla.’ He thought as he caught a whiff of her perfume.
He took a step back, making sure he was steady before setting her down. Once letting him go, she went over to hug Zayne. “Sorry, Z!” She said sheepishly.
“It’s fine, (Y/N)!” Zayne said, patting her head whilst giving her a side hug.
“Care to introduce us, Caleb?” Rafayel asked.
She removed herself from Caleb’s side to introduce herself. “Nice to meet you! I’m (Y/N)!”
“I’m Rafayel!”
“Xavier.”
After breaking the ice, the five of them started to make their way to the nearest cafe. Rafayel and Xavier had already warmed up to her. “(Y/N)! You’re so sweet and kind! Smart, but you can kick ass too!” Rafayel started.
Xavier hummed. “I thought a guy like Caleb would be the type of guy you’d avoid.” He said, continuing his friend’s train of thought.
Caleb wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Don't waste your time on jealous guys, (Y/N). You know you love us. And by us, I mean, me."
She let out a snort. “That’s subjective.”
He gasped whilst dramatically placing his hand over his chest. “Zayne! Make her take it back!” He said, earning a burst of laughter from his other friends.
Zayne shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “That’s not for me to decide.”
Seeing her interact and get along with his other friends was everything he ever wanted. As the outing continued, Rafayel had taken more of a liking to her. “You’re as cute as a goldfish!” She teased.
“Yeah, and this goldfish needs protecting! So get to it, Miss Bodyguard!”
Caleb’s head quickly turned in their direction. Wait, where was his cute animal association?
Xavier chuckled. “Oh, that’s gold. I’m never going to let you live that down.”
A blush tinted Rafayel’s cheeks. “Piss off, Xavier!”
“(Y/n)-”  Caleb started before Zayne nudged his side. They didn’t exchange any words, but Caleb understood. He knew better.
Tumblr media
The years went by in a flash and they were right by her side, just like they promised. When Caleb left for the Academy, their trio was reduced to a duo. Sure it was a bit difficult to adjust the dynamic of the group, but they made it work. She made sure that she and her friends never lost touch.
But Caleb always came back for the holidays. They sat at a table at the cafe closest to her grandmother’s house. “If I had the time to do a full analysis paper on this, I would. I’m not boring you, am I, Caleb?” She asked, wondering if he’d even be interested in hearing what she had to say about her most recent hyper-fixation.
Caleb nodded. “No, please continue. You want to talk about something you love and no one should shut you down for it.” He said before taking a sip of his coffee.
She flashed a smile at him. God, he could look at that smile forever.
He stared at her in awe. In his eyes, she was still the same girl as she was in university, ever so analyzing. During his school years, he was able to improve his people skills. Being more observant, he noticed the small things about her. The way she’d tap her feet to the beat of the song, yet her fingers were tapping the melody. The face of anticipation she had whenever she’d gotten a new idea for her next project. The list went on.
She giggled, breaking him from his thoughts. “Thanks for listening, Caleb. I feel like I have to hide this side of me from this guy I’ve been seeing. He and I have been on a couple of dates, but we never made anything official yet... I think he's still in love with his ex. And I don’t blame him. Just hearing about the way he talks about her… He’s in love with her and I don’t want to get in the way of that.” She said, rubbing the lid of her latte.
Even though she was fixated on her cup, his eyes were fixated on her. He chuckled. “I've listened to Zayne talk about anything and EVERYTHING for years. I can handle a little nerd talk from you. And you shouldn’t be with someone who makes you feel like you need to censor yourself.”
When she looked up, their eyes met and he felt it. His heart skipped a beat.
“Don’t look at me like that or I might fall in love with you.” She teased. Lies- she was already in love with him.
Caleb’s departure date was nearing quicker than expected. And she wanted to spend as much time with him as she could- she regretted not doing that with Caleb before he left the first time.
After a full day of activities, they made their way to Caleb’s hotel room. When they reached their destination, they rushed inside and leaned against the door to catch their breath.
“Caleb… Never make me run... in uncomfortable shoes... ever again.” (Y/N) said between breaths.
“Duly noted.”  Caleb chuckled, resting the back of his head against the wall. “You know… You're the most amazing person I've ever met. (Y/N), when I'm with you I don't feel so... alone.”
A pause. “Sometimes it's better to be alone.” She said, rubbing her upper arms.
“What makes you say that?” He asked, pushing himself off the wall.
“Nobody can hurt you.” She said, trying her best to not look at him.
“(Y/N)... Are you afraid to fall in love?”  He quickly replied.
"No- I'm afraid of being the only one who falls." She turned to face him, not realizing how close they were to each other. Her mouth acted faster than her brain could comprehend.
“I know you’re going back to the academy tomorrow. I’ll be left alone. Sure there’s Rafayel and Xavier and I don’t know them as well as you and Zayne do. But spending time without you this past year made me realize things. And I don’t know if I’m in denial or what, but I feel something for you. I can’t explain it, but my heart beats just a bit faster when I’m around you and I don’t want to assume things… So, let's both do ourselves a favor and stop this before we-”
He glanced down at her and pressed his lips against hers. Shocked at his actions he pulled away. “I’m sorry…”
“Caleb…” She blushed before looking at his lips and then met his eyes. “Could you do that again?”
“A-Are you sure?”
“Just kiss me.”
He nodded, kissing her once again- this time with more emotion. She froze but found herself reciprocating with the same passion. They drowned in each other. Once it started, they couldn't bring themselves to stop. He could feel the connection that was between them and she could too.
They pulled away for air. "I'm sorry, Caleb.” She apologized.
“Shh…”  Caleb leaned into her until his lips were inches away from hers. "Let’s pretend that we love each other for one night…"
… It wasn’t pretending for either of them.
Tumblr media
However, the topic of their feelings was pushed to the back of their minds when Caleb suggested that they spend their last night together eating snacks and watching movies.
When the sun rose the next morning, she woke up in the arms of the man she loved. Nothing happened after the kiss-it just got a bit heated. Their hands explored each other like newfound territory, but it was only on the surface: Messy hair, wrinkled clothes, and heavy breaths.
Rays of sunshine peeked through the curtains, waking her up from her peaceful slumber. Deciding to close the curtains, she tried to sit up, but the weight of Caleb’s arm wrapped around her waist prevented her from doing so.
"It's too early for us to be up..." His husky voice rang out in the quiet room. She slowly turned in his hold to face him.
"Caleb… You’re leaving today.” She whispered, running her fingers through his bedhead.
"I know… Can we just stay like this for a little longer?” He muttered, burying his face in the crook of her neck, making her sigh in content. They stayed like that for a while, his arms wrapped protectively around her, and she almost fell asleep, only to force herself to stay awake.
"Caleb! We need to get you to the station."
Caleb shook his head, making her chuckle at his childish behavior. "But (Y/N)~" He pouted, his eyes still closed, as he tightened his grip on her waist, just enough to keep her at bay. Seeing no clear way to victory, she sighed, giving in for just a moment longer.
~*~*~
No amount of handbooks, study guides, or crash course videos could prepare them for this moment. Now at the train station, they leaned against the railing near the seating area. They’d gotten there in advance so they could avoid any last-minute casualties that could occur.
They spent those moments listening to Caleb’s playlist that he made consisting of songs that reminded him of their friendship. From various genres, (Y/N) smiled at the song choices. What he failed to remember was the one love song that was in that playlist.
“Let’s fall in love for the night and forget in the morning.”
“Hey! I love this song!” (Y/N) cheered.
“Yeah? Me too.”  Caleb stuttered, moving his head to the side to hide his blush.
“Play me a song that you like, you can bet I’ll know every line.” She sang along softly, but Caleb could hear it.
“Cause I’m the boy that your boy hoped that you would avoid. Don’t waste your time on jealous guys, fuck that noise. I know better than to call you mine.” He chuckled at the line he sang.
“Caleb! Language, what would granny say!” She scolded, playfully smacking his arm.
“It’s just lyrics, (Y/N)!” He replied, rubbing the area of impact.
She smiled at him, wanting to savor their last moments together.
They spent years hiding their feelings behind shy smiles, hugs that lasted way too long, and hand-holding that always carried a romantic subtext. They had suspicions of each other’s feelings, yet they did nothing about it after that.
The song was only 3 minutes and 10 seconds long, but to them, it felt like an eternity. They hummed along to the song, with Caleb singing the lyrics near the end. They wished they had more time.
“Cause I’m the boy that your boy hoped that you would avoid. Don’t waste your time on jealous guys, fuck that noise. I know better,”  He sang as he faced her, having the courage to hold her hands in his.
(Y/N) blinked the sudden gesture. She realized that this was it. This was his confession, albeit a somber one, but a confession nonetheless. “Caleb… Don’t finish the song…” She whispered.
“I know better…” He sighed deeply, lifting one of his hands to cup her cheek. Caleb knew that would be the last he’d ever see her until the next holiday. His eyes met her gaze as he thought about the missed opportunities.
‘She deserves better. Someone who isn’t afraid to admit their feelings.’ He thought.
Caleb kissed her forehead. “I know better than to ever call you mine.” He sang, soft enough that only she could hear. She gasped before he pulled away. Caleb gave her a slight nod before turning to walk over to his gate. The smell of lavender and vanilla slightly lingered around him.
And like before, they fell in love for the night and forgot in the morning.

Woke up and chose violence :) Every time I write angst, let’s drink a glass of water.
I don’t think my friend is ever going to listen to sad love songs around me anymore.

My Idiot (Jay Kelso x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is Hyde’s daughter and staying with the Formans while he’s in jail, the new generation has a sleepover at the Forman’s house and there’s only one bed for Jay and (Y/N)… Note: Jaya (JayxLeia) does not exist in this imagine
Word count: 1k
“Okay you guys,” Leia said with a deep breath, “Grandma and grandpa actually said you guys can stay the night, so we can’t screw this up. I’m staying in my dad’s old room and (Y/N) is staying in Aunt Laurie’s old room, as usual. Can you guys all find somewhere to sleep in the basement?”
“Sounds good to me,” Ozzie popped up.
“Nikki and I can take the couch,” Nate said.
“Yeah, that should work,” Gwen added, “it just sucks that Jay isn’t here.”
You nodded half heartedly. Your best friend - and crush - Jay Kelso was working a long night shift at the video store, and you were bummed that he was missing your first (and probably only, considering how Red Forman was) sleepover with the gang.
Almost like clockwork, the basement door opened.
“Hey guys!” A familiar voice spoke up. Jay’s voice. “They let me off early,” he said as his eyes briefly floated to where you were sitting on the floor, then shyly finding their way back to the rest of the group.
“Well shit,” Leia sighed, “I mean, we’re glad you’re here! But Red let us have a sleepover for once, and I don’t think there will be enough room in the basement for you…”
“Well that’s not convenient,” Jay said with a flat face, sheepishly sitting down next to you.
“Hold on you guys, I’ll be right back. I don’t imagine in a thousand years my grandpa would let you stay in my room, but I have a couch and (Y/N) doesn’t, and I don’t want to make her offer her bed to you if she isn’t okay with it.”
You shifted awkwardly, silently hoping you could share your bed with Jay. “I mean, I wouldn’t mind if we have to…” you trailed on quietly, Jay looking at you shyly, his cheeks noticeably heating up.
The rest of the group hadn’t heard you but Jay had sitting so close to you. “You sure?” he asked and you nodded, lacking the courage to look at him.
Leia ran upstairs and it only took a few seconds before you heard the booming sound of Red yelling.
“If that boy goes even close to your bedroom, my foot is going even closer to up his ass! Absolutely not!”
Leia hurried down the stairs with a defeated look on her face. “So that’s a no go. (Y/N), are you sure you’re ok with sharing a bed with Jay?”
You shrugged, now bright red. “Yeah, sure, I don’t mind.”
The seven of you spent the rest of the night together, laughing, watching My So Called Life, and getting high, before finally around midnight you all started to crash.
“Should we call it a night, you guys?” you asked through a yawn, anxious to spend the night with Jay.
“Sounds good to me.”
“Yep.”
“I’m tired.”
“Well, goodnight you guys,” Leia spoke, “see you all in the morning.” With that you, Leia, and Jay stumbled your way upstairs while the others stayed in the basement getting comfy.
You quickly brushed your teeth and got cleaned up for bed, putting on your favorite lacy nightgown, your heart beating out of your chest before you heard your name called from downstairs.
“Y/N! I need to talk to you!”
Shit. It was Red.
You made your way down the stairs, feigning sobriety, into the Forman living room.
“Yes Mr. Forman?”
“Sit down.”
“You know (Y/N), I remember your father sitting on this exact same couch when he was your age. He was a good kid, even with all the dope he did. He was nice to people.” Red sighed, “I remember that boy’s father too, and how he used to fool around with young girls like you, even my own daughter.”
“But Jay isn’t like-“
“I know, I know, that kid hardly knows his own father. But as you’ve been staying with Kitty and I, you’ve become like another grandkid to us. I always feared I’d be raising Steven’s kids…” he grumbled. “No funny business in there, okay? You’re better than to be screwing a Kelso. I know you think no one’s caught onto your little crush on this boy, but I’ve seen these things before. And if he so much as lays a finger on you, my foot will go so far up his ass he won’t even be able to feel his fingers!”
“We’ll be good,” you smiled, rolling your eyes. “Now goodnight.”
“Goodnight (Y/N).”
You hurried back up the stairs to find Jay already all cozied up in your bed.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
His eyes scanned your body in awe and he hid a smile as you made your way into bed.
You both squirmed awkwardly for a little while, not talking, not looking at each other, and especially not touching.
“I’m sorry (Y/N), I’ll try to let you sleep. I know you didn’t really want me in here…”
“Wh-what do you mean?”
“I could tell you were uncomfortable in the basement and just trying to be nice. I can sleep in the living room if you wa-“
You shut him up by kissing him, to his surprise. Jay closed his eyes and let himself melt into the kiss. It was slow and sweet, innocent, loving.
“Of course I want you here. I was nervous because I have a crush on you, doofus.”
“Well you could’ve just said that,” he laughed. “But, uh, I’m glad you didn’t. I have a crush on you too. Have for a while,” he smirked, kissing you again.
You laughed as the kiss ended, rubbing noses together. “Go to bed, idiot.”
He cuddled his way into you, pulling you in by your waist and spooning you, nuzzling his face into your neck. “I may be an idiot, but I’m your idiot.”
You smiled, cheeks turning a baby pink, still not sure if this was all really happening. “Yeah, Jay, you’re my idiot.”

[parking ticket] ft. sawamura daichi
wc: 1k
contents/warnings: fem! reader, reader is referred to as ma’am, timeskip characters. for the sake of story, let’s pretend the Miyagi prefecture parking rules go by the same ones in the States but Daichi is not an American cop because acab till I die!!
Tumblr media
A flash of light catches your attention when you look up from your phone from inside your car. By meter for the spot you’re currently parked in, is a cop who is tapping away at his little device, looking between his device, your car, and the meter that is currently flashing red.
“Wait!” you say frantically, exiting your car.
The cop looks up. When you meet his eyes previously hidden by his cap, they linger a bit on you before he levels you with an unimpressed look.
“I just got here! I was planning on paying.”
“Ma’am, I saw you pull into this spot before I circled around the block. And now, it’s still not paid.”
You cringe. When you had pulled into the spot, 10 minutes early for your scheduled manicure appointment, you figured you could just kill time in the car. You were scrolling through your instagram feed, looking for nail inspo when you noticed the cop.
“I was in an important call!” you fib.
The cop puts his device down, and props his hands on his hips. You inappropriately take note of his broad shoulders and square jawline. His unimpressed gaze remains as he tightens his jaw.
“You could have just paid the meter then went on with your call.”
“It really was important! So important that I needed to get on the call the second I parked.”
He picks up his device and continues tapping, eyes now darting down to your license plate.
“Please, please! I swear, I plan on paying! It was just a couple of minutes,” you beg.
Tap, tap. The device spits out a little piece of paper and he rips it from the jagged teeth of the mini printer.
“Fine!” you say, storming over to where he’s standing. You quickly insert some coins into the meter, jabbing them in with your thumb for good measure. “I was on a call with the hospital because I just found out my grandma has stage four metastatic breast cancer, so if that warrants a ticket, then leave it on my dash, asshole!”
With that, you walk swiftly away, both frustrated and impressed with your own quick thinking.
You’re pleased to find that after your manicure, there is no ticket on your dash.
You squash down the slight guilt you feel when you instead see a little note with a simple “sorry about your Grandmother” scribbled on.
–
It’s a couple weeks later when you revisit the nail salon for some regular upkeep. You pull into a spot and quickly exit your vehicle to feed the meter. You didn’t want to take your chances in this same area, knowing there’s potential for a certain cop to be patrolling. You’re waiting at an intersection when a tap on your shoulder gets your attention.
Turning around, you find yourself not surprised to come face to face with the same handsome cop as the other day.
“Hey, nice to see you again,” he says.
“Oh, hi. Yes,” you nod pleasantly.
He takes off his police cap and tucks it neatly between his arms and torso. Even with his face half covered, you knew he would be nice to look at, but with his cap off, you get a full view of his gentle brown eyes and cropped black hair.
“How’s your grandma? I’m sorry I was being such a hardass that day.” He rubs sheepishly at the back of his neck with his free hand.
“Oh,” you smile a bit. “She’s fine. I lied so you wouldn’t give me a ticket,” you say breezily.
The light at the intersection turns green.
“See ya around!” you wave and start walking.
You get a couple of feet before the officer falls into step with you.
“Hold on a sec. Are you saying your grandmother doesn’t actually have cancer?”
“Nope.”
“First of all, you shouldn’t go around lying about stuff like that, what if you speak it into existence?”
You shrug, “both my grandmothers are already dead, so…”
“Oh…” he says awkwardly. “Sorry to hear that.”
You laugh again at his shifty eyes.
“What’s the second thing?” you ask.
“Hm?”
The two of you continue your leisurely stroll, side-by-side. You’ve already passed your salon, but you figure another lap wouldn’t hurt.
“You said ‘first of all.’ What’s second?”
“Ah,” he nods, sticking his hands in his pocket, relaxing his gait. “Second of all, why would you tell me you lied? I still have your license plate.”
“Well,” you pretend to ponder, a mischievous smile growing. “Are you going to give me a ticket, officer?”
He smiles too. “Depends. You might have to pay me back in some other ways.”
“That sounds oddly inappropriate given your position in law enforcement,” you joke.
“How about a date?”
You startle a bit, not expecting a straight shot from someone who seems very, well, reserved.
“You don’t even know my name,” you qualify.
“I do. I looked up your registration.”
You stop to face him, mentally noting the number on his badge. There, if he was creepy or weird, you could report him or something.
“I'm free tomorrow night?”
“Perfect, pick you up at 7?”
“You don’t even-”
“I know where you live. Registration, remember?”
“This feels like a misuse of government resources.”
He leans in a bit, close enough for you to feel his minty breath on your cheeks. “May I?” he whispers.
Dazzled, you nod.
He gives you the lightest kiss on your cheek, before taking one large, respectable step away. “My name is Sawamura Daichi. I promise I won’t do anything weird with your information unless you deserve another parking ticket in the future.”
“Hey!”
“I’ll see you tomorrow night, then,” he says, fixing his cap back on his head and giving you a cute little salute before walking back the direction he came from.

Can you talk about a situation where gojo and y/n are best friends since childhood and they start to develop something but it’s still not clear so they’re kinda in between that
i just had to include pining!gojo so i hope that's alright with you!! 🤍
Tumblr media
Satoru knew he liked you first, the type to say "It's always been you" when it comes down to it. You were beautiful to him since the first encounter and he treasures the friendship he built with you over the years. So when you began to see him more than just an annoying kid who turned into a handsome young man, you were unsure how to feel about this because you don't know how it'll affect the dynamics.
You and Satoru spent late nights together before but for some reason it feels different this time around. He's always looked at you the same but you're now only noticing how you can get so lost in his eyes. You both held hands running away from the servants as troublemaking kids, but it feels intimate when your fingers accidentally touch his and neither of you move for a moment. It's a small thing to get worked up over so you don't dwell on it.
The next day feels mostly normal but when Satoru walks into the classroom you suddenly have weird thoughts like did he always look that attractive? He notices your gaze on him and he simpers, "Stare any harder and I'll think you've fallen for me~" He's being full of himself again so you say something smart, but you never entirely rejected the statement. Shoko and Geto share a telepathic signal regarding their bets on you two.
When you're helping a cute grandma with her groceries and Satoru tags along because he follows you everywhere. She thanks you both for your utmost kindness, and before she lets you go about your afternoon she asks, "By the way, are you seeing anyone? I have a fine grandson-" Satoru chimes in hugging you tightly and explaining to the sweet old lady that you're with him so sadly you're off the market. You’re already used to him pretending for the couples promotion so you leave it at that.
You have wondered why Satoru hasn't been dating anyone when he attracts the attention of many girls, coming up to him and leaving their numbers with him but they could be meeting in secret. When it's his day off or the weekend, you're always included in his plans along with Geto, Shoko, and the other students. You'd stay peeled for any special girl that Satoru wants to introduce to his close friends yet she never appeared.
This goes on for several months before you come to terms that you DO have romantic feelings for Satoru, and as you muse over everything he has done you think maybe he does too. But with these things it's always a 50/50 chance. You either start dating and have a great relationship, or the friendship withers and you stop being best friends and that scared you. So you confide in Shoko and much to your surprise, you are the last person to know that he has liked you since the beginning.
Tumblr media
― a little bonus:
You find Satoru later that night, bringing up how you two promised to stay best friends forever no matter what when you were kids. He pulls himself upright from his bed after sensing the hint of seriousness in your voice and goes, "Yeah?" His heart nearly stops when you're silent for a moment from gathering your courage, and he most definitely wasn't prepared for the heartfelt confession that follows after.
Satoru's grinning like a complete idiot before trapping you in his arms for a tight embrace, "You had me worried there for a second, you know that? And here I thought you were never going to like me back!" When he retracts back slightly, his hands holding you firmly by the shoulders and azure eyes sparkling like sunlight over ocean waves. "Hey, can you say it again for me?"
Your cheeks flush slightly and you glance away from him. "I already told you I was going to say it only once. You should've listened the first time." He moves into your line of sight with puppy eyes, and you swear you weren't going to cave but Satoru's just too cute when he says please. After you tell him that you like him over and over again, he reciprocates tenfold before leaning down to kiss you softly on the lips 一 the most innocent kiss that made your mind go blank and feeling a little giddy and a lot of happiness.
He gently rests his forehead against yours and his hand moves to settle on your waist, the other taking your much smaller hand in his and rubbing small circles over your palm to keep him grounded. "You realize that if we start going out, it'd probably end with us getting married, right?"
"Yeah." Your smile widens, you knew Satoru was always part of your future but it's sweeter knowing that he'll be your companion for life if everything works out between you two like you hoped. You also knew your feelings didn't develop overnight and it was there all along but realizing and accepting them was startling.
"Is that okay with you?"
You nod slowly. "Yeah. And you?"
Satoru squeezes your hand and presses a kiss to your forehead, your nose, the corners of your mouth, then your pretty lips as you hold back your giggles. "You wanna know something? I can't think of anyone more perfect to spend the rest of my life with than you."
