Idk if this is ur type of music but i love listening to Talkshow Boy while drawing striders&dirkjake i think its a fun vibe. Especially Testosterone & Chop Us Out though i have a hard time picking favorites especially with the testosterone(album)

Just got back from a degree show. Check out this awesome art before I answer, sorry for lack of credit. I went near the end of the exhibition and most of the artists had no business cards left sadly. Sigh. I’ll have a look & update the alt text if I can find credit.

I’m mostly a death grips / Fiona Apple guy when it comes to music nowadays, if you are asking about taste. (My favorite song right now is coco mango diced by MF DOOM though) but I did used to listen to talk show boy when I was maybe 13 or 14.

From memory my favorite on testosterone was called something like “four breakbeats” or something. My bad, it has been a hot minute. I’ll relisten after this. I definitely understand where the Strider connotations come from with that artist though. I don’t think you’re alone either considering I’m also pretty sure there is a Dave Strider animatic to his biggest song. Ignore if I’m just lying here.

For songs / artists I associate with Dirk, I’m lacking. I have one song in my Dirk playlist and it is “declare independence” by Björk. (Don’t think he would listen to it, just associate with him). I do associate a few death grips songs with him but I think it’s purely by virtue of being a fan. (Specifically hot head, spread eagle across the block & I break mirrors with my face in the United States for Dirk / Spikes + culture shock + you might think he loves you yadda yadda for UltDirk. I recommend all songs. All good songs)

Trying to keep ahead of three growing bitlets is tiring on a relatively sole Polyhexian these days. His programming has him missing the bustle of his creche, and the flurry of voices and help that should have been there.

He's not a mechanism that is given towards regrets, or even towards sorrow. One learns early that life is not fair, and that to Live, instead of just surviving is the ultimate goal one should strive for. Still, even he has his moments of profound sorrow.

He thinks of the silken-smoke voice of his sire, harmonious with the rough, sultry one of his carrier. He can hear his elder sibling's dark honey voice, the boisterous laughter that had been Rico's signature.

The high, delighted chittering of Sonata's excitement at finding another cousin.

These sounds are recorded in his processor, and onto databanks hard-coded and hidden deeply in his archives. He plays them from the speakers at his hips, and on his shoulders. It soothes the ache in his spark to hear their long-ago presences.

And to let the bitties know, that even while they are something of an endangered species these days.

As long as he's there with them, they'll never truly be alone.

I'm still wrapping up the episode 1 recap of Daredevil (it's really dense, okay!) but in the meantime, let's take a moment to appreciate the show's lighting. Look at this. Beautiful.

I don't know jack about filming but I love the saturation and the contrast, like a chiaroscuro. I also love the way Matt's red glasses look black in the light. This happens a lot this episode. I'm curious if I'll notice a color adjustment over the couse of the series, as Matt evolves from the Man in Black to Daredevil. These are the kind of details that normally fly over my head when I'm not doing a close watch, so we'll see! I'm sure this has been covered a million times before but I'm excited to discover all this nonsense for myself.

The midjourney stuff just reminds of when we were trying to find a new platform to host the ao3 donation form, and companies kept trying to tell me about all their "ai" features that would track donor engagement, and figure out the optimal pattern to email individual donors asking for follow up donations, and all the ways they suggest we manipulate people into staying on our websites. It was a great way to filter out who either wasn't listening to us when we described our ethics and donor base, or just didn't believe us.

Now granted ao3 is a unique case based on a) the amount of page views we get in any given time period and b) the fact that most donors absolutely do Not want to be identified as such anywhere, (the default "list of recent donors" module got nuked Immediately) but it surprised me some that the concept of "donors who value their privacy and would be furious at even the whiff of AI" is unique. Some of us really are just existing in different worlds.
