Lots on my plate today. I dropped one class yesterday and replaced it with an online class so I will probably work on that, too. I just realized that my notebook for the semester is 3 subject but that's okay, I can take those notes on my laptop. I also already have all the grammar and syntax done for the aeneid translation, i literally just have to put it together!

I like how Andy and LeyLey's dream sequences do so much to reflect on them as people. Andrew's noticeable lack of control over the things around him(He has to follow the quest his neighbor set out for him, he can't get young Ashley to give him the candle without bribery, Julia and the corpses aren't even movable, ect.) Paired with his flashback to ____'s death v.s. Ashley's idyllic, almost fantastic dream world where everyone, including herself, is a doll she can manipulate to her will, ending with a look into the future.

I don't even think Ashley TALKS during, that's how into-the-bit she was. Compared to Andrew who talked so much even the narration seemed personal, god-I-They are such flavor packets of characters and I love them so much.

okay, here are some of my headcanons for narcissa and regulus as the black family members who know what it's like to be left behind.

narcissa is 3 years younger than bellatrix and 2 years younger than andromeda so she has to watch her sisters go off to hogwarts and is left alone for 2 years by herself.

so when regulus is sorted into slytherin and sirius has new friends in a new house and is 'leaving him behind' narcissa takes him under her wing

narcissa is a seventh year and head girl and regulus is a first year and very tiny so it's very easy for her to sneak him into hogsmeade with her

narcissa used to play quidditch and loved it with everything she had (she was a keeper if u care) until her family (and lucius) made her quit in year six so now she spends her free time coaching baby regulus and helping him with his flying since she doesn't get too

narcissa employs regulus to help her study for her N.E.W.T.S (potions is her best class) and that's how regulus discovers his love and talent for potions (she teaches him all the upper class information so he's ahead of his classmates)

regulus and narcissa are both the observant ones of their families (it's why they're both so good at quidditch and why they're seekers and keepers respectively) and that's why narcissa is the only one who notices how regulus flinches whenever sirius "acts up" at family events

narcissa uses her age and slughorn's admiration to get permission to check out books from the restricted section for regulus (under her name ofc) not at all caring that he's a first year and shouldn't be reading them. (if regulus asked for it, she would get it for him)

regulus and narcissa are both early january capricorns, their birthdays are mere days apart (in my heart this is true!!)

when narcissa graduates she gives all of her potions notes and her special lucky caldron to regulus along with her old broom (regulus uses it even though orion bought him the best broom on the market)

narcissa opens up her house to regulus summer before his fourth year and she takes him to hogsmeade and buys his school supplies (bc things are BRUTAL between sirius and walburga and regulus has to Get Away) and they talk about surviving is a balance of complying in public and rebelling in private

regulus asks how narcissa rebels in private and she tells him about alice

they both wonder if andromeda and sirius are simply surviving like they are or actually living.

voldemort gives lucius and narcissa the diary horcrux to hide, but narcissa doesn't know what it is really and winds up telling regulus about it which is what tips him off the horcruxes

regulus making a plan to tell narcissa about the horcruxes so they can figure out how many have been made and take voldemort down in secret whilst complying in public--together. but he just has to destroy the locket he found out about first.

The Latin was rough today, I choked and forgot what 1st person singular verb endings mean (I obviously don't do well under pressure) and wasn't able to figure out the last few lines before class started.

Here's the Latin:

cum sic unanimam adloquitur male sana sororem: “Anna soror, quae me suspensam insomnia terrent! Quis novus hic nostris successit sedibus hospes, quem sese ore ferens, quam forti pectore et armis! Credo equidem, nec vana fides, genus esse deorum. Degeneres animos timor arguit: heu, quibus ille iactatus fatis! Quae bella exhausta canebat! Si mihi non animo fixum immotumque sederet, ne cui me vinclo vellem sociare iugali, postquam primus amor deceptam morte fefellit; si non pertaesum thalami taedaeque fuisset, huic uni forsan potui succumbere culpae. Anna, fatebor enim, miseri post fata Sychaei coniugis et sparsos fraterna caede Penatis, solus hic inflexit sensus, animumque labantem impulit: adgnosco veteris vestigia flammae.

And my at home translation (minus the four lines I couldn't figure out):

she accosts her sympathizing sister, not of the right mind, "Anna, sister, my agitated dreams terrify me! Who is this new guest approaching the throne, how he conducts his mouth, what a strong chest and weapons! Truly believe, and not a vain faith, his race is divine. Fear makes clear the ignoble spirit. Alas, how miseries were thrown at him! What wars he has exhaustedly sang of! If my spirit was not immovable stuck on being unwilling to settle in the bonds of wedlock, when my first love deceived me, cheated me through death; If I were not wearied by marriage and wedlock, perhaps this one I will be able to yield to weakness.

And the corrected in-class translation:

She, not of the right mind, addresses her sympathizing sister thusly: “Anna, sister, what dreams terrify agitated me! What new guest has approached our home, carrying himself as what in regard to his appearance, of how strong a chest and weapons! I truly believe, nor is my faith vain, that his race is of the gods. Fear makes clear ignoble minds. Alas, by what fates this man has been tossed! And by what endured wars he was recounting! If it were not settling, fixed and unmoving in my soul, that I did not wish to unite myself in marital chains with anyone, after my first love deceived and cheated me by death; if it had not wearied me of the bridal chamber and the torch, I could now perhaps yield to this one weakness. Anna (for I will confess) after the fates of my poor husband Sychaeus and the household gods, sprinkled with fraternal gore, only this man has bent my senses and drove on my wavering mind. I recognize the vestige of the old flame.
