I’ve said before how the people I called out are closer to radfem a than queer people right? Let’s make a comparison!
So the state of Mississippi is considering banning books that are “sexually inappropriate”. This includes the following
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And where have I heard this before? That’s right! It was @reversedshinyoumaru and @chaotic-goon among many others that wanted to “protect children” and that’s what it led to!
So I’m just gonna leave the screenshots here and you tell me these aren’t radfems. These people aren’t conservatives who act like they’re queer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We should stop radfems from pushing more anti queer/trans legislatives. That includes these people

The old dude with his finger pointing to the air is Rafael Cruz (Sr), wait for it…..Ted’s father.
He’s been a major player in the RepubliKKKlan party since working to get Reagan elected. He’s been a liaison between the Republicans and the evangelical community. He’s highly paid and popular on the right-wing speaking circuit.
Ok atheists, wait for it….he’s one of the leading DOMINIONISTS in the country.
He openly lies to his audiences telling them fantasies about forced transgender conversion surgeries in public schools and other similar anti-LGBT propaganda. Much of his hateful rhetoric on the subject is disseminated through various MAGA Congressmen, most notably Marjorie Trailer Queen.
It’s a brief article and well worth the read. Here’s a snippet;
“Nevertheless, when Rafael Cruz — a pastor and the father of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas — preached on the subject in April at a church-based rally for conservative school board candidates in McKinney, Texas, he falsely claimed that students were being forced to change genders and being “mutilated” inside public schools. (The elder Cruz did not respond to interview requests.)The moral downturn began six decades ago, Cruz told his followers, when the U.S. Supreme Court banned mandatory prayer and Bible readings from schools. To do that, Cruz said, “we need to make sure that we have strong, committed Christians in every position in every school board in America.”

So, About Crab Day
I'm sure alongside the Crab Day posts, plenty of my followers and mutuals and their followers and mututals have also seen the responses about the movement being crafted by Christian TERFs.
I've been trying to get a gauge of that myself on the multiple blogs of the many people bring this up - Here we have screencaps of two prominent CrabDay Trads.
A lot of the blazed posts have been by TradChristians, including the two mentioned in the screencaps. Often OP's of posts involving Crab Day, that I have personally gone to see the blogs of, have indeed been some form of transphobe - either TERF of self-proclaimed anti-feminist that reblogs from TERFs - many mention being pro-life and anti-porn directly, and every single one has been Christian.
Crab Day, on the surface, seemed to be a fun little fundraising idea for all of us to make a new holiday out of. We love those, we treasure our Tumblr Holidays here. It makes sense that Crab day has gotten more traction that protests or blackout proposals have.
However, it is not a secret that Christians abundantly blaze posts proselytizing on our beloved Gay Communist Website - it's very common in general for Christians to pay to spread propaganda (Skywriters at Disney, per example) and the abundance of conservatives pushing for this is important and concerning.
We are a community with a staff who does very little in response to genuine threats - bots, facists, TERFs, white supremacists, the list will go on. As such, we run the risk of this creating a welcome sign for other conservatives to make this place a stomping ground and for Christians to move to for digital missionary work, utilizing the prominent Tumblr Blaze feature, one of the few things that has been making this site money.
This does not need to be some psyop or strategy to usher those things in potentially. Staff will favor income over userbase every time. We know this. It's not a slippery slope - it is business at work, as we speak, in front of our eyes.
As a lapsed Catholic, I know for a fact that devoted Christians always find the money and resources to devote to Christianity. Devoted bigots always find the money and resources to devote to bigotry. And devoted, bigoted Christians gladly devote that money and those resources to things that target the marginalized communities they want to see gone.
I won't tell you whether or not to buy crabs. I will tell you that maybe it's association with Catholics and ism-ism-isms may be sticking and turning it into an association we may soon find to be unsavory. And that this may lend to future problems for this websites queer community. Money is power and the people currently using it here do not want us here and they are bigoted at best and hostile at worst.
Here's a link to a post that describes what I'm trying to say, I encourage you to like and reblog that one as well, and I will end on it's endnote - "...[We] need an option that makes it clear we don't support many of tumblr policies and how they treat tumblr users, while also giving tumblr a chance to win enough money to keep our beloved hellsite running. It can't be one or the other.[...] We need to give them so money, a fact, but we need to give it to them in a way it ends up in our benefit, that encourages good changes on this site, more disability functions, less transphobia, less homophobia, etc. That's the thing, okay?"

It's interesting how all the conservatives and the right-wingers are working on the term woke, a real culture of excitement is being spun around the term.
Tumblr media
What kind of bullshit has anyone of the woke people prevented the conservatives and right-wingers from their twisted world view or disturbed them in their daily propaganda?
Does woke interfere with anyone's shopping or daily life?
You get upset about it but climate change being a real threat to future generations is not an issue to get upset about!
Yes, there are criticisms of woke but these are minor compared to the real challenges facing societies.
mod
And what is that supposed to be?
Awake, Not Woke
A Christian Response to the Cult of Progressive Ideology
Mindfulness, woke and kindness is not an ideology but a realisation from the deep love for people and their form in societies to contribute together to the happiness of all.
And should be the basis of business ethics.
And this is the crux of the matter: in the context of globalisation, woke would be a nightmare for many global corporations and also for their shareholders. They have to eliminate injustice in the form of exploitation and environmental destruction at all levels, which would be good for the world, but not in the sense of the highly praised profit maximisation.
This is the real background to the uproar that is being staged against wokeness.
The Christian religion has proven throughout its history that it is anti-woke. Witch burnings, slavery, persecution of those who think differently, absolute obedience to dictatorships (see the Russian Orthodox Church), hatred of everything foreign - the entire Bible Belt in the USA can tell you a thing or two about it. All conquest in the name of the church, religious wars and so on and so forth.
So stop eating chalk, you haven't even begun to understand the principle of humanity that Jesus preached.
It's actually religious abuse and unfortunately that counts for everyone who sees humanity as a weakness. It is not the strongest who survive but the most co-operative.
Wokeness
What does "woke" mean? - Meaning and origin
"Woke" - being aware of discrimination
"Woke", also known as "wokeness", comes from the English and means "awake" or "alert". Today, the term is used colloquially to describe attentiveness (vigilance) or sensitivity towards people from minorities and moments of discrimination. The wokeness movement focuses primarily on issues such as racism, sexism and similar forms of discrimination. However, the term is also often used to describe supposedly general structural and political grievances.
Origin of the term "woke"
The term originated in the mid-20th century in the African-American movement as an expression of awareness of social or racial oppression. One of the earliest uses can be found in a 1962 article by author William Melvin Kelley, which lists African-American slang expressions and is about white beatniks appropriating black slang. The term was taken up again more strongly with the start of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2013, which brought it back into the public consciousness.
Since June 2017, the word can be found in the Oxford English Dictionary . The OED has since described the term "woke" as follows:
Originally: well informed, up to date. - Now mainly: vigilant against racial or social discrimination and injustice; frequent use: "to remain vigilant"
Criticism of the woke movement
Despite the need for "wokeness" in society, the term "woke" does not only have positive connotations. Especially in conservative circles, it is also used in a derogatory way, criticising the woke movement itself. The main criticism is usually that "woke" people are too sensitive. At the same time, however, this also automatically raises the question of whether those expressing criticism are not themselves too insensitive or too insensitive, which sometimes leads to the formation of camps. The main criticism is that
1. being woke is only based on criticism
A frequent criticism of the woke movement is that being woke is often only based on criticising others for not being woke enough. This was also the case for Barack Obama when he said in an interview with the New York Times in 2019 that the activism of young people today is based on pillorying other people. This creates a black-and-white view that lacks room for dialogue and education. This is a problem because all people have more or less faults. Excessive polarisation is a pattern that is particularly evident in social media.
2. premature development of a cancel culture
Another consequence of a culture of discussion that would only consist of criticism would be a hasty development into a cancel culture, in which certain people or groups would be completely shunned in order to deprive them of a platform. The fear is that people or groups who otherwise do good things will be cancelled without giving them space for dialogue and development. Quirks would be penalised too much.
3. political correctness
The term "woke" is also controversially discussed in connection with "political correctness", which actually aims to strengthen the interests of minorities, especially through the appropriate use of language, and thus avoid discrimination. It is criticised for creating new norms that are sometimes perceived as censorship. Critics fear that freedom of expression will be undermined by a kind of moralism. However, even the freedom to address discrimination is criticised.
Most recently, the new Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, spoke of "woke indoctrination in schools", which must be tackled. The term indoctrination describes vehement, one-sided, distorted teaching that does not allow for discussion, which is a central method of propaganda, especially in dictatorships. The extent to which the two terms can be connected at all remains questionable.
4 Woke washing and woke capitalism
We speak of woke washing and woke capitalism when brands, institutions or even individuals speak out against discrimination or grievances, but at the same time act in the opposite way or not at all. The criticism here is that companies in particular create a progressive self-image that is nevertheless subordinated to ruthless profit maximisation behind the woke façade. The image of a sustainable and equal corporate culture thus becomes a marketing strategy instead of an authentic identity.
Here is a simple definition of the rights for example (more of a fight call than a definition probably didn't pay attention to the definitions at school)
"Woke": definition and meaning
"Woke" means to be awake and committed and is a left-wing ideological term of struggle. Under the guise of "anti-discrimination" and the demand for "social justice", our liberal social order based on Christian bourgeois values is to be fought against at all levels and replaced by a socialist order.
Swiss political activists with a clear enemy image
And now a short definition from everyone who gets to the point (has probably understood what a definition is without propaganda and call to arms)
Wokeness
Definition: What is "wokeness"?
Wokeness is the attitude and movement of alertness and vigilance. It is the act of paying attention to what is happening in the world and wanting to remove anti-Semitism, racism, sexism, violence, environmental destruction, factory farming and other evils by raising one's voice in the mass media and on social media, on the streets and in the squares, in schools, universities and companies. In English, "to be woke" means "to be vigilant" against injustices of all kinds.

Dumbest Thing I've Ever Heard: 8/3/2023
Fifth place: Twitter user @eyeskewer
This is a little older than the stuff I normally cover on this blog, but I feel like this is worth highlighting as it perfectly shows my issue when many who make conspiratorial claims about transgender medical care:
my "informed consent" was my doctor I had just met handing me papers telling me my voice would drop soon, I could freeze my eggs, I might get acne, and whatever else. I probably didn't even hear everything she said, I just told her I wanted the shot. so I got it. I just turned 18
So you were told you wanted something medical done to you, were told about the risks and consequences, and then got it. I really don't see what the big deal is here.
Fourth Place: Marco Rubio
Elon Musk's time as CEO of Twitter has been far from perfect, but easily the best addition he has made is the community notes feature. For just one example, here is a Tweet from Marco Rubio:
Tumblr media
Also, those claims about the 2016 Presidential Election were never proven to be fake--just wanted to add that real quick.
Third Place: Scott Lively
The deranged homophobe who wrote an entire book blaming the Nazis on homosexuality wrote a column a couple of days back with the headline "Leftist lawfare and the abuse of power." A decent chunk of it is spent defending Russian President Vladimir Putin, but here are some highlights:
In all my years of watching corporate U.S. news about Russia and Putin, I have never seen a single counter-argument ever being offered in defense of President Putin (coverage of him is even worse than that of Trump). It's been more than a decade since Obama restarted the Cold War to punish the Russians for banning "gay" propaganda to children, when every story began to paint him as a "brutal monster" – to the point that even many conservatives (who have zero reason to trust that same media on anything) seem to agree.
The hatred of Putin on an international scale has nothing to do with the anti-homosexuality laws he has put in place while President of Russia--although, don't get me wrong, that didn't help matters, but several countries with anti-homosexuality laws are still seen in a positive light by the international community (wrongfully so, in my opinion). It was more his imperial ambitions--starting with his invasion of Georgia in 2008--that caused the international community to move away from him.
Second Place: Abby Johnson
I've mostly been ignoring the story about a handful of far-right Christians refusing to support the fringe Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy because of his Hinduism, however given Abby Johnson was sold to us a few years back as a a reasonable anti-abortion activist--an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. And she has decided to take a stance against a Hindu President, saying:
Do not be a victim of Satan’s confusion right now. This is an important time for us to have clarity of mind as we are going into an election cycle. So please discern. Please use discernment right now because God hates those who are willing to put up idols over him, and he will not be mocked.
All I wish to say is that if you really want a President that's a dedicated Christian--can I recommend you a guy named Joe Biden? Oh who am I kidding, if Ramaswamy does get the nomination it's going to be just like when Billy Graham took Mormonism off his list of cults so he and his followers could vote for Mitt Romney in 2012.
Winner: Ben Shapiro
This man, considered by many to be serious political commentator, does not know the difference between eating and drinking:
[Trump] would face a whopping 641 years in prison. Which I assume means he would not survive prison. Although he is 70% preservatives at this point because he eats so much McDonalds and Diet Coke.
He eats Diet Coke? Ben, do you know how Diet Coke works?
Ben Shapiro you've said the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Thank you! I completely agree with you and anon. I know the mv is very tongue-in-cheek and isn't meant to be taken seriously, but this concept is creepy and honestly doesn't send a very good message. If you said that on twitter though you'd get crucified. The song itself is boring. The lyrics are empty and shallow and the production sounds like it's been recycled from Just Dance. JK's vocals are great as always, but there's nothing interesting or unique about his vocal delivery. He just has a pleasant tone and good technique, which I guess is why he (arguably) has the most mainstream appeal out of all the members. I'm also trying to reserve judgment until I've heard the album, but I highly doubt it'll be as stimulating as D-day, JITB or Indigo, but I'm sure it'll receive 3x the amount of promotion. As an aside, I still don't like how ARMYs just brushed over the fact that Angel pt. 1 had a convicted sex offender on it and encouraged people to mass-buy and stream it uncritically. I hate that you can't criticize the members without being accused of being an anti or a solo. They're not infallible gods. They're human. And how are they ever supposed to grow as artists if they never receive criticism?
yeah it's like... it's funny cause it's jk and we might not know him personally but we also know he wouldn't hurt a fly (or at least we can hope) but yeah all in all, considering most of his fans are on the younger side, a lot of them teenage girls as well, it is really not a good message to send :/ in my opinion it basically feeds into conservative propaganda on straight relationships and consent (but that's not surprising considering the men involved in the making of this song. anyways. we hate it here)
and i have nothing to add on what you've said about the song in itself or his voice, I basically agree with you (I would go so far as to say he has the most common voice of all the boys, I can list at least two or three idols that have exactly the same voice as him but that's my own opinion and it doesn't take away his talent or how hard working he is!!). jk has always been, by far, the most popular, also bc since the beginning big hit worked at making him the perfect idol, much more than hyung line especially (also bc he was really young and probably more easily influenced than a suga that wanted nothing to do with it at the time and only embraced the idol life when it became something he loved), what with the whole cute but a bad boy, shy but sexy, perfect at everything he tries image they built for him. they also heavily relied on his sex appeal early on to bring fans in. so it's not surprising today that it's his image that sells more than the quality of what he puts out musically
yeah I won't go back to the whole angel pt. 1 debacle but sadly this was not the first time - nor will it be the last - that BTS took part in/endorsed something that was politically more than dubious and that army followed them blindly. i mean im expecting jungkook (or ot7) will eventually do a feat with justin bieber and he is openly anti abortion and a conservative christian so 💀
and yeah totally! it's also hard to know, at the end of the day, how much of a say they have in the decision making process but even so... their lyrics have a meaning, were and still are critical of a lot of issues, ffs yun is about an openly communist south korean artist who was shun by Korean society and haegum is an openly anticapitalist song so you'd expect them to actually apply that way of thinking to their actions. and I mean army is a big fandom so it's also hard to know, as a whole, if we really show them that that's what we expect of them or if most armys don't actually listen to the meaning of their songs / don't care about it / like them in spite of the message they carry

Is Satan Woke?

Just a refresher course into some American history: The Conservative conspiracy group, “The John Birch Society,” was the laughing stock of the USA during the early-to-mid sixties. I remember, as a child, how my uncle and my dad made jokes about them. In 1963, Bob Dylan wrote a song about them called, "John Birch Society Pananoid Blues. Then came the expressions, “There is a communist under every bed,” “Only Communists have beards,” and my favorite one, “Fluoride in the water supply is a communist plot!” The 1964 movie, “Dr.Strangelove, touches on this subject. Anti-Communist fever was high among those of the conservative and liberal camps back then.
Fast forward to the 21st Century, and one wimpy kid with a message board started to compile all of the conspiracy cliches he could find, put them into a blender, and out came the Qanon smoothie. He thought of these outlandish conspiracy scenarios, which if he’d written as fiction, no publisher would have touched them! They were fucking absurd! Like: Hillary Clinton ran a pedophile ring in the basement of a pizza shop. (Truth be told, this particular shop didn’t even have a basement.) So-called “Truth supporters” were so gullible that they bordered on Down’s Syndrome. They believed all the garbage that Qanon spewed! Well, as P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s a sucker born every minute!” W.C. Fields said, in a 1940s flick, “Never give a sucker an even break!” These Evangelical suckers are easy prey to exploit; i.e.: If you believe that Jesus literally walked on water, then you will believe anything.
This Syncretism of Qanon is really hilarious. Its followers are all in a “Satanic Panic.” First of all, every evil they profess contradicts all other nouns on the list. For example, “The People in Hollywood are Communist cannibals that eat children in the name of Satan!” What is wrong with that statement? Everything! This is just plain, idiotic name calling without any thought. If you think that common sense is the only path to wisdom, then you need more education! Nowadays, usage of the epitaph, “Communist,” is really lame. First of all, Communism does not believe in private companies. Matter of fact, Communist leaders from around the world were never fans of Hollywood movies. They thought that movies were capitalist propaganda. Second of all, Communists are mostly atheists and don’t believe in Satan, or even Santa Claus. Cannibals?! The majority of actors are either Vegan or Vegetarian. Leave it to the MAGA Republicans to not know the differences between Socialism and Communism, they don’t even know how Veganism and Vegetarianism differ. Did it ever occur to you that God gave you a brain for a reason? Studies show that most human beings use just 10% of theirs! You think that God is happy with that?!
Now on to this Satan thing; also known as The Devil, or Lucifer. Satanism was created by Anton LaVey in his work, “The Satanic Bible,” in 1969. Satanism is at the extreme end of philosopher, Ayn Rand’s, “Objectivism.” Ayn Rand believed in rational selfishness. Anton LaVey believed in Irrational Selfishness, i.e.: if someone violates your individualism, than kill them where they stand. Satanists don’t worship the Christian biblical Devil. They believe in the worship of one’s self as a god, which has nothing to do with religion. Theirs is more like Egotistical philosophy. If you possess an intense comprehension of the King James Bible, then you know that you must be a slave to God, or receive eternal damnation. As the story goes, the biblical devil, Lucifer, was an archangel in Heaven that wanted to be God, to which God said, ‘fuck that shit!’ He then kicked him out of Heaven and condemned him to Hell. Thus, Lucifer has been trying to corrupt human kind ever since.
Do you want to live in a theocratic regime with people who believe in superstitious crap like that? I don’t. The reason they spew all of these evil fairy tales is to scare you into accepting these Christo-Fascists to run your life. It’s done to make you feel that you are being inundated by the forces of evil! “The White Nationalist Christo-fascists are here to save the day!” No, they are not.

AMERICAN HISTORY NOTES 11/30
Tumblr media
The war in Vietnam ended in 1975
First time Americans lost American Exceptionalism ("the assumption that the United States was a unique force for good in the world." - historian Christian Appy)
The Pentagon papers that documented the United States in the war got released to the public
Doves: Deeply critical of US foreign involvements
POV : Wondered why the US lost against the Vietnamese and saw the loss as a result of liberalism from all the protests. They thought the country had become weak and forgot its ideal for losing. They wanted the country to regain its place in power and that largely shaped the politics.
Ronald Reagan took advantage of this during his running with "Let's make American great again."
Reaganomics is used to describe his actions, aka
Supply-side economics: "lowering taxes and deregulating businesses will generate economics growth
Crisis of family values: Women in the workforce
Increases the income gap with the loss of food stamps
Increasing military spending to appeal to a broad side of people that wanted America to become great again
National debt had tripled
Deregulating the economy ended up being very expensive
The 1980 was widely shaped by the Conservative Resurgence. Or, the Rise of the Christian Right
The Southern Baptist Convention: 47k churches, over 13 million members, nation's largest Protestant demonization
They did not want women wanting more leadership roles and thought this would be a breakdown of all traditional roles (like family roles and etc.)
A group of people met in a cafe in Orleans and they forced a plan to slowly but surely place only Baptist men in the SBC to influence decision making and ideology. This inherently went against the SBC.
To them, the ends justified the means. They considered it a holy war against feminism and for Christianity for America. They were successful in their takeover.
Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority
Conservative evangelical pastor
According to him, white Americans were a fighting a holy war against liberalism
He believed these so called crises had weakened America and it's image
To fight the collapse of white America, they needed tough male leadership to teach family values and tough foreign polices in other countries
Liberalism had led to a breakdown of moral values and a crisis in family values (this is used by evangelical leaders or conservates)
So when Reagan ran, he knew what to use (the religious rhetoric) to win the white evangelical vote. His foreign policy achievements secured their loyalty throughout his policy
Resistance and Activism
Nuclear Freeze Movement: Called for the end of the testing, production, and distribution of all nuclear weapons. Frances Crow, featured on the bottom right, was the leader of the movement
ACT UP: AIDS coalition to unleash power
ACT Up advocated for: Research, Education, and Approval of drugs for treatment
In the 1980s, because 3/4 cases were gay men, the gay and lesbian community was the first to organize around this issue when most were ignoring it (including Reagan who only mentioned it in 1985, and the medical institution)
Jerry used this to call it God's judgement
Put pressure on the government and the medical community for treatment and prevention
The disability rights movement helped pass the 1995 act for discrimination against those with disability
1980s was important for civil rights, anti-war, and LGBT, and etc.
Pop culture: Madonna
Rubik's Cube: 1980
My Little Pony: 1982
Nintendo: 1986
Macintosh: 1986 (that's where Mac book came from)
"Running up that Hill" 1986
The Pentagon influenced and support Top Gun (1986)
500% increase in military after the movie
Rocky IV, 1985. It was straight up cold war propaganda
International Relations
In 1983, Reagan announced the strategic defense iniative (nicked named "Star Wars"
Reagan also provided the following to anti-communist "freedom fighters"
Weapons, CIA training, secret operations
The Contras were an anti-communist
Public was widely against the Contras were known for abusing human rights and were funded by the cocaine trade
Reagan told his staff to secretly and illegally fund the Contras
The Iran Contras scandal
7 Americans were taken hostage
In return for the hostage, they would secretly and illegally sell weapons to Iran and that would be secretly given to Contras
Arm for Hostages deal and money for the Contras
This was unsuccessful. More hostages would be taken as they were released

Right versus Left, Love and Hate, the Core
I am compelled to write on my blog because I see a world full of problems and I personally believe this is one of the best ways to address them. Typing out letters and words gives me the opportunity to string out ideas and thoughts which is really great. So here I am about ready to tackle one of the worst problems our nation has ever seen!
Polarization of the Democratic and Republican parties is truly tearing this nation apart. I'm not even talking about the propaganda on the Television; although that is where many Americans get their information. I am referring to all the shit talking and gossip that doesn't get us people anywhere. I would call it a great nightmare but that wouldn't be strong enough. Some folks call it 'Hell' and it seems impossible to escape.
Let's go over the basic platforms for each party: Republicans are anti-abortion, Democrats are pro-abortion. Democrats are pro LBGQTA marriage; Republicans more or less believe marriage is a religious ceremony between a man and a woman. Republicans want energy independence mostly by drilling oil domestically. Democrats basically fight for alternative energy and believe fossil fuels are creating climate change. Republicans are the party of low taxes; Democrats historically tax their populous more.
Left and right issues are sort of like throwing a ball against a wall and seeing where it lands. They've been going back and forth for nearly two centuries! Democrats or Liberals as some call them mostly inhabit the cities of our United States of America. Republicans or conservatives as they're also known live more in the suburbs and countryside. Both parties are controlled by the wealthy and I'm nearly convinced they might actually be working together for some sinister shit like the next war or pandemic.
What is the core of all our problems? Follow the money trail! It starts with currency and the government is not even trying to hide it; just look at the $1 bill! Luciferian masonry has been trying to raise the Antichrist for thousands of years and here in America we might be getting really close! You think our politicians are gonna endlessly battle with each other as the Democrats and Republicans do? After all, they are Christians that believe Jesus Christ is coming back! People are rising up from both sides but it comes down to religion and prophecy.
Thank you,
Carter Troughton

I’m terrible at using this blog but hey, I won’t leave @reversedshinyoumaru (hifuuclubfan on Twitter) get away with this
so let’s get the record straight: I said what Shadman drew is wrong. No doubt about it, “erotic art” of children or using children should not be made. But the correct term isn’t art, it’s also not porn.
It’s abuse. Specifically, child sexual abuse material
and the 16 year old loser ”criticized” me and said I was the idiot for pointing out that “child porn” is wrong because the word “porn” implies consent. And as everyone smart enough knows, children can obviously NOT consent to sex!
which is why even child protection organizations such as NCMEC have BEGGED people to call it what it is: child sexual abuse material
this 16 year old comes off as if what Shadman drew was “harmless”! And that’s why I’m stressing it so much: words have meanings.
And this clown and everyone who defends it are watering down the severity intentionally to protect abusers.

girlie blocked me, but i wanted to take this opportunity to explain how those who are economically and socially traditionalist will often commandeer an individualist veil in order to seem sensible.
Tumblr media
as we can see here, she’s labeled herself as a libertarian (albeit a right-libertarian, and that’s an oxymoron on its own).
however, crying over the individual right of free expression is not very libertarian of her. in fact, biblical womanhood, traditional christianity, and being anti-abortion rights are all things that oppose libertarianism by principle.
but, i think the most telling trait we can see is the reaction she has to art.
art is by definition an attempt to express societal commentary. it is supposed to challenge, question, and make uncomfortable the viewer.
a reaction of disgust and anger towards this kind of commentary is inherently authoritarian in nature. there’s a reason why most conservatives tend to favor the renaissance and classical era of art— because it was mostly commissioned by the church or diplomats for propaganda purposes. nice, neutered pieces that did nothing to challenge the issues their society experienced.
this is why i feel general distrust towards christians/right-wing individuals who claim to be pro-liberty. they can never actually follow through on their claims because their ideologies will not allow it.

In May, Centuria organizers boasted to their followers that its members currently served as officers in Ukraine’s military and “have succeeded in establishing cooperation with foreign colleagues from such countries as France, the United Kingdom, Canada, the USA, German and Poland,” according to the institute’s report.
“The Ukrainian military’s failure to check Centuria activities suggests a level of tolerance on its part for the apparent proliferation of far-right ideology and influence within the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the study warned.
One member of the group has received officer training in the United Kingdom’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, graduating in late 2020. Another attended the German Army Officer’s Academy in Dresden in 2019.
In the summer of 2019, Centuria came out in support of a rally held by Ukrainian far-right groups to counter the LGBTQ “Kyiv Pride” event. Centuria released a statement that it supported “right patriots, nationalists, conservatives and Christians currently defending the streets of Kyiv from perverts from the LGBT movement and their left-liberal sympathizers.”
The NAA denied to the university researchers that Centuria operated within the academy and noted it had no tolerance for extremism. But the report has a number of photos of NAA cadets giving Nazi salutes and promoting far-right material. One of the NAA cadets was a firearms instructor for a far-right group that the United Jewish Community of Ukraine accused in 2021 of spreading anti-Semitic propaganda.

Lil Nas X: Country Music, Christianity & Reclaiming HELL
Tumblr media
I don’t typically bother myself to follow what Lil Nas X is doing from day to day, or even month to month but I do know that his “Old Town Road” hit became one of the biggest selling/streamed records in Country Music Business history (by a Black Country & Queer artist). “Black” is key because for 75+ years Country music has unsuspiciously evolved into a solidly White-identified genre (despite mixed and Indian & Black roots). Regrettably, Country music is also widely known for anti-black, misogynoir, reliably homophobic (Trans isn’t really a conversation yet), Christian and Hard Right sentiments on the political spectrum. Some other day I will venture into more; there is a whole analysis dying to be done on this exclusive practice in the music industry with its implications on ‘access’ to equity and opportunity for both Black/POC’s and Whites artists/songwriters alike. More commentary on this rigid homogeneous field is needed and how it prohibits certain talent(s) for the sake of perpetuating homogeneity (e.g. “social determinants” of diversity & viable artistic careers). I’ll refrain from discussing that fully here, though suffice it to say that for those reasons X’s “Old Town Road” was monumental and vindicating.
As for Lil Nas X, I’m not particularly a big fan of his music; but I see him, what he’s doing, his impact on music + culture and I celebrate him using these moments to affirm his Black, Queer self, and lifting up others. Believe it or not, even in the 2020′s, being “out” in the music business is still a costly choice. As an artist it remains much easier to just “play straight”. And despite appearances, the business (particularly Country) has been dragged kicking and screaming into developing, promoting and advancing openly-affirming LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 artists in the board room or on-stage. Though things are ‘better’ we have not yet arrived at a place of equity or opportunity for queer artists; for the road of music biz history is littered with stunted careers, bodies and limitations on artists who had no option but to follow conventional ways, fail or never be heard of in the first place. With few exceptions, record labels, radio and press/media have successfully used fear, intimidation, innuendo and coercion to dilute, downplay or erase any hint of queer identity from its performers. This was true even for obvious talents like Little Richard.
(Note: I’m particularly speaking of artists in this regard, not so much the hairstylists, make-up artists, PA’s, etc.)
_____
Tumblr media
Which is why...in regard to Lil Nas X, whether you like, hate or love his music, the young brother is a trailblazer. His very existence protests (at least) decades of inequity, oppression and erasure. X aptly critiques a Neo-Christian Fascist Heteropatriarchy; not just in American society but throughout the Music Business and with Black people. That is no small deal. His unapologetic outness holds a mirror up to Christianity at-large, as an institution, theology and practice. The problem is they just don’t like what they see in that mirror.
In actuality, “Call Me By Your Name”, Lil Nas X’s new video, is a twist on classic mythology and religious memes that are less reprehensible or vulgar than the Biblical narratives most of us grew up on vís-a-vís indoctrinating smiles of Sunday school teachers and family prior to the “age of reason”. Think about the narratives blithely describing Satan’s friendly wager with God regarding Job (42:1-6); the horrific “prophecies” in St. John’s Book of Revelation (i.e. skies will rain fire, angels will spit swords, mankind will be forced to retreat into caves for shelter, and we will be harassed by at least three terrifying dragons and beasts. Angels will sound seven trumpets of warning, and later on, seven plagues will be dumped on the world), or Jesus’s own clarifying words of violent intent in Matthew (re: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” 10:34). Whether literal or metaphor, these age old stories pale in comparison to a three minute allegorical rap video. Conservatives: say what you will, I’m pretty confident X doesn’t take himself as seriously as “The true and living God” from the book of Job.
A little known fact as it is, people have debunked the story and evolution of Satan and already offered compelling research showing [he] is more of a literary device than an actual entity or “spirit” (Spoiler: In the Bible, Satan does not take shape as an actual “bad” person until the New Testament). In fact, modern Christianity’s impression of the “Devil” is shaped by conflating Hellenized mythology with a literary tradition rooted in Dante’s Inferno and accompanying spooks and superstitions going back thousands of years. Whether Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Scientologist, Atheist or Agnostic, we’ve spent a lifetime with these predominant icons and clichés. (Resource: Prof. Bart D. Erhman, “Heaven & Hell”).
So Here’s THE PROBLEM: The current level of fear and outrage is:
(1) Unjust, imposing and irrational.
(2) Disproportionate when taken into account a lifetime of harmful Christian propaganda, anti-gay preaching and political advocacy.
(3) Historically inaccurate concerning the existence of “Hell” and who should be scared of going there.
Think I’m overreacting?
Examples:

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The above short list chronicles a consistent, literal, demonization of LGBTQ people, contempt for their gender presentation, objectification of their bodies/sexuality and a coordinated pollution of media and culture over the last 50+ years by clergy since integration and Civil Rights legislation. Basically terrorism. Popes, Bishops, Pastors, Evangelists, Politicians, Television hosts, US Presidents, Camp Leaders, Teachers, Singers & Entertainers, Coaches, Athletes and Christians of all types all around the world have confused and confounded these issues, suppressed dissent, and confidently lied about LGBT people-including fellow Queer Christians with impunity for generations (i.e. “thou shall not bear false witness against they neighbor” Ex. 23:1-3). Christian majority viewpoints about “laws” and “nature” have run the table in discussions about LGBTQ people in society-so much that we collectively must first consider their religious views in all discussions and the specter of Christian approval -at best or Christian condescension -at worst. That is Christian (and straight) privilege. People are tired of this undue deference to religious opinions.
That is what is so deliciously bothersome about Lil Nas X being loud, proud and “in your face” about his sexuality. If for just a moment, he not only disrupts the American hetero-patriarchy but specifically the Black hetero-patriarchy, the so-called “Black Church Industrial Complex”, Neo-Christian Fascism and a mostly uneducated (and/or miseducated) public concerning Ancient Near East and European history, superstitions-and (by extension) White Supremacy. To round up: people are losing their minds because the victim decided to speak out against his victimizer.
Tumblr media
Additionally, on some level I believe people are mad at him being just twenty years old, out and FREE as a self-assured, affirming & affirmed QUEER Black male entertainer with money and fame in the PRIME of his life. We’ve never, or rarely, seen that before in a Black man in the music business and popular culture. But that’s just too bad for them. With my own eyes I’ve watched straight people, friends, Christians, enjoy their sexuality from their elementary youth to adolescence, up and through college and later marriages, often times independently of their spouses (repeatedly). Meanwhile Queer/Gay/SGL/LGBTQ people are expected to put their lives on hold while the ‘blessed’ straight people run around exploring premarital/post-marital/extra-marital sex, love and affection, unbound & un-convicted by their “sin” or God...only to proudly rebrand themselves later in life as a good, moral “wholesome Christian” via the ‘sacred’ institution of marriage with no questions asked.
Inequality defined.
For Lil Nas X, everything about the society we've created for him in the last 100+ years (re: links above) has explicitly been designed for his life not to be his own. According to these and other Christians (see above), his identity is essentially supposed to be an endless rat fuck of internal confusion, suicide-ideation, depression, long-suffering, faux masculinity, heterosexism, groveling towards heaven, respectability politics, failed prayer and supplication to a heteronormative earthly and celestial hierarchy unbothered in affording LGBT people like him a healthy, sane human development. It’s almost as if the Conservative establishment (Black included) needs Lil Nas X to be like others before him: “private”, mysteriously single, suicidal, suspiciously straight or worse, dead of HIV/AIDS ...anything but driving down the street enjoying his youth as a Black Queer artist and man. So they mad about that?
Well those days are over.

How did you come to the ideas in your cultural/social world building? I notice a good deal of historical basis in a lot of the ideas and plot points, but not all! (also, in s&a-verse, is homosexuality still illegal?)
I studied a lot, and learned how to research. Sometimes, I’ll read something or hear something in a podcast and make a mental note to somehow work that into whatever I’m writing. But what usually happens is that I have a pretty good idea of what I want to happen in broad strokes.
Once I have that, if there’s details that need work, I might go look up a historical analogue. I’ve learned that a lot of world-building is actually in the small details that are meaningful to people. I grab from history because it makes things feel “lived-in”.
For details that deviate from historical basis, it’s a bit harder to explain. I tend to think a lot in “systems”: different parts interact with each other in ways that aren’t always obvious. So I start from a similar place of “what do I need/want?” and then try to figure out how the pieces can fit together in order to get there.
Your question about homosexuality in s&a is actually a really good example. There’s part of me that wants to acknowledge the comics-canon that had same-sex relations be illegal in the Fire Nation. The rest of me violently rejects that entire premise because it pretty much denies the thousands of years of queer history in actual East and Southeast Asia.
There are legit classic Chinese texts on governance that just...go into much detail about how bad an idea it is for the Emperor to promote his boyfriend to head of the army because he’s pretty. (google “passion of the cut-sleeve” and Emperor Ai of Han) So much that later authors blatantly referenced it. It was the introduction of the West and specifically Christian missionaries that caused things to go all weird.
So in AtLA, where does an anti-homosexuality mindset even come from, in a universe that doesn’t have that influence? It really doesn’t make much sense, and it makes me tear my hair out trying to reason it out.
In s&a, I reconciled it by coming up with a “it’s complicated”. Near the beginning of the war, Sozin institutes a “state religion” in order to push forward this idea of “modern progress”. Officially, everyone has to follow the state religion and the old shrines are closed/burned down/repurposed. The anti-homosexuality thing comes from here, because it’s partially propaganda: the Nation needs soldiers to fight and non-het sex is not gonna make those little firebenders the Nation needs.
So that’s the official line. It is extremely difficult to stamp out a religion or culture, especially in a period of only 100 years. Out further from the capitol, a lot of people still practice the old ways in secret. So more rural areas are totally fine with queer people out in the open. Because tolerance and acceptance is the conservative stance! In cities, it’s a little more class-based, with the lower classes being a bit more “just don’t talk about it” and the upper classes and Court being more homophobic. You can pretty much tell where someone grew up by how anxious they get when someone casually starts talking about same-sex relationships.
tl;dr: Anti-homosexuality is not an actual law in s&a, but it’s tied up with Sozin’s state religion, which is law (and you can get arrested for not following).

Pop culture in the1950s
Music
Popular music in the early 1950s was essentially a continuation of the crooner sound of the previous decade, with less emphasis on the jazz-influenced big band style and more emphasis on a conservative, operatic, symphonic style of music. Popular artists where;  Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Frankie Laine, Patti Page, Judy Garland, Johnnie Ray, Kay Starr, Perry Como, Bing Crosby and etc.
The new music differed from previous styles in that it was primarily targeted at the teenager market, which became a distinct entity for the first time in the 1950s as growing prosperity meant that young people did not have to grow up as quickly or be expected to support a family. Rock-and-roll proved to be a difficult phenomenon for older Americans to accept and there were widespread accusations of it being a communist-orchestrated scheme to corrupt the youth, although rock and roll was extremely market based and capitalistic.
Television
The 1950s are known as The Golden Age of Television by some people. Sales of TV sets rose tremendously in the 1950s and by 1950 4.4 million families in America had a television set. Americans devoted most of their free time to watching television broadcasts. People spent so much time watching TV, that movie attendance dropped and so did the number of radio listeners.[13] Television revolutionised the way Americans see themselves and the world around them. TV affects all aspects of American culture. "Television affects what we wear, the music we listen to, what we eat, and the news we receive“.
Film
European cinema experienced a renaissance in the 1950s following the deprivations of World War II. Italian director Federico Fellini won the first foreign language film Academy Award with La Strada and garnered another Academy Award with Nights of Cabiria. In 1955, Swedish director Ingmar Bergman earned a Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival with Smiles of a Summer Night and followed the film with masterpieces The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries. Jean Cocteau's Orphée, a film central to his Orphic Trilogy, starred Jean Marais and was released in 1950. French director Claude Chabrol's Le Beau Serge is now widely considered the first film of the French New Wave. Notable European film stars of the period include Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Max von Sydow, and Jean-Paul Belmondo.
Art Movements
In the early 1950s Abstract expressionism and artists Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning were enormously influential. However, by the late 1950s Color Field painting and Barnett Newman and Mark Rothko's paintings became more in focus to the next generation.
Pop art used the iconography of television, photography, comics, cinema and advertising. With its roots in dadaism, it started to take form towards the end of the 1950s when some European artists started to make the symbols and products of the world of advertising and propaganda the main subject of their artistic work. This return of figurative art, in opposition to the abstract expressionism that dominated the aesthetic scene since the end of World War II was dominated by Great Britain until the early 1960s when Andy Warhol, the most known artist of this movement began to show Pop Art in galleries in the United States.
Fashion
The 1950s saw the birth of the teenager and with it rock n roll and youth fashion dominating the fashion industry. In the UK the Teddy boy became both style icons and anti-authoritarian figures. While in America Greasers had a similar social position. Previously teenagers dressed similarly to their parents but now a rebellious and different youth style was being developed. This was particularly noticeable in the overtly sexual nature of their dress. Men wore tight trousers, leather jackets and emphasis was on slicked, greasy hair.
New ideas meant new designers who had a concept of what was fashion. Fashion started gaining a voice and style when Christian Dior created “The New Look” collection. The 1950s was not only about spending on luxurious brands but also the idea of being comfortable was created. It was a time where resources were available and it was a new type of fashion. Designers were creating collections with different materials such as: taffeta, nylon, rayon, wool and leather that allowed different colors and patterns. People started wearing artificial fibers because it was easier to take care of and it was price effective.[15] It was a time where shopping was part of a lifestyle.
Different designers emerged or made a comeback on the 1950s because as mention before it was a time for fashion and ideas. The most important designers from the time were:

From E.S.T to Isis
(Life doesn’t suck! You do!)
By Stephen Jay Morris
If any decade I disliked the most were the 70’s. I missed the real experience of the 60’s by a few years. I was 13 in 1967. My I.Q was still developing. By the decade called the 70’s, I was in my 20’s. Many wax nostalgic about that decade, not me. Remember: If you remember the 70’s, you were there. It was Disco, Stadium rock, bad drugs and commercialized sex. The worst fad that came out in the USA in 70’s was Cults. There were all types of cults. The most popular was the Christian cults. Then were the New Age cults ranging from worshiping a pimple face 15 year-old gurus to people worshiping rocks? Then there was the self-improvement movement, which was controlled by these motivational speakers. Now they call them, “Life Coaches” The most flagrant cult was Erhard Seminar Training (A.K.A) E.S.T. The Life Coach was this group was a former Jewish used car dealer named, “Jack Rosenberg”. He changed his name to, “Werner H. Erhard”. Ayn Rand, “Alice Rosenbloom” to L. Ron Hubbard book, “Dianetics”, influenced him. If can divert for a while. My grandmother Rose loved that book, Dianetics, which was the Scientology manifesto. My grandmother was gullible enough to fall for any self-help that came down the pike. My grandma gave it to my dad to read. He never did. That paperback book sat on the coffee table collecting dust for 2 years. He finally threw it the trashcan.
I want to focus on the philosophy of this group. This is it succinctly: Everything is your fault! You have no one to blame but yourself! That’s it! That proverb: Taking responsibility for yourself…well…it was coined by this cult. If you are walking down the street and some passing car shoots you, it’s your fault! How come you weren’t wearing bulletproof vest? Mr. Erhard in his save the world fantasies thought if everybody took care of himself or she … then there wouldn’t be any need for government or a military. Ever Human can live like a king. Is this ideology starting sound familiar?
The training sessions (sic) would take place in some hotel near airport. You pay a large amount of money, maybe 500 dollars to get brainwashed. It would be in some drab conference room. Usually there were no windows or clocks in that room. You weren’t allowed to get to the toilet until the end of session. Then it became a confessional orgy. Some would get up recount the bad events of their lives with tears in there eyes. The speaker would comment on your confession, which was very insensitive. This treatment was to make one callus to emotional pain. So your uncle sexually molested you? That is entirely your fault! You should stop being a victim!
The whole concept of their no such thing as victims was established by this cult. Anti-Victimology has its roots in E.S.T. Don’t be a victim! The real victims of this ideology were followers of this cult.
By the early 80’s, E.S.T faded away and other groups like: Landmark took over. However, a lot conservative think tanks not only adopted Ayn Rand Philosophy but also the ideology of E.S.T. Flash forward to now. If you listen to A.M radio and you hear a lot E.S.T rhetoric. What is amazing that the religious right using the same rhetoric? They accuse certain Christian dominations of being stooges of communism, alas Liberation theology. But these right wing clowns are using 70’s cult propaganda. Oh, the hypocrisy! The hypocrisy!
If you remember the 70’s, there was scam called the Pyramid scheme. Basically the scheme was you get paid for signing up other suckers. The suckers would have to sign up other suckers. Who would benefit? If you did the math, no one did. Only the very top of the pyramid did. That is how the modern day conservatives views capitalism as a pyramid scheme. The peasants of the foundation of the pyramid hold up the very wealthy on top.
The American must reject this 70’s right wing cultism and embrace the essence of compassion and reason. There are such things as victims. Just ask a Republican that got audited by the I.R.S.
The terrorist group Isis is a cult, a death cult that is. You remember 1978? There was a Christian death cult called: The people temple run by The Reverent Jones. The members all died in massive suicide in some South America country by drinking poison. The Rev. Jones was very anti-American like any Jihadist group. …And the beat goes on and on!
