「hero name:

kokhav — is a hebrew name that literally translates to, "star". this has been a name i've thought about for a while but did not really consider for which oc. considering her quirk, i decided it would be perfect for her. it is also a bit unorthodox considering hero names in the bnha universe have english terms such as, "one for all".

「name:

amaterasu — is the famous sun goddess in japanese mythology. i wanted to further emphasize the star characteristics of her quirk, hence the name. considering her name to be pretty long in terms of pronunciation, she is often given nicknames.

fujiwara — was/is a clan that was known to be powerful in the imperial regents of japan. they have ever since been prosperous even during the ancient times. the family was known to be married into powerful government positions, to which they gained power. sinilarly to this, these events are a great reference to amaterasu's backstory.

「voice actor:

fun fact ! : as i was choosing her voice actor, it was my first time hearing a japanese voice over for twilight sparkle (a character from the famous "my little pony" show) and it enthralled me to which i decided miyuki sawashiro is what amaterasu would sound like. adding to that, she also has voiced kurapika from hunter x hunter !

「birthday:

05 13 — in theory, if bnha's time is based on 2035, amaterasu would be 15 and born in the year 2020. with this, on the month of may, the day 13 was set on will be on wednesday. as most know the poem/rhyme, "monday's child", the infamous line of, "wednesday's child is full of woe" is something i wanted to greatly emphasize.

fun fact ! : 13 is considered to be an unlucky number which is why when going to a hotel, the number "13" is usually skipped.

「quirk:

star strike — is a quirk i have invented probably in the late 2020's. initially, the concept was a quirk that can physically manifest crystal-like structures with a purple-ish/blue-ish hue with a specific star's characteristics. they can be "shards" that can float or held to be used as weapons or even restraints. the best quirk in the anime that is similar to this i would say is something like hero: cementoss, shoto todoroki, villain: geten. if wanted to, this crystal-like structure can also only possess in-general characteristics such as gravitational pull, brightness, or heat. with this concept still in mind, i kept thinking of where to draw its first condition in order to properly manifest this:

extensive knowledge about a specific star (i.e. a star's approximate gravitational pull, etc.)

further, i wanted to add drawbacks as a good lesson we have been taught in the anime is to think that quirks are like a "muscle".

i thought that this quirk is quite "op" (though that wouldn't even really matter considering she will never be canon !) so i decided some sort of heavier drawback. "stars that shine the brightest, often burn the fastest" is a line that would best fit amaterasu's quirk drawback. the more she continues to use powerful motions with her quirk, the more she gains detrimental effects on her body.

cracks would start to form first from the core of her body and spread. the longer it remains untreated with the constant use of her quirk, the wider these cracks form which would lead to blood seeping out.

fun fact ! : she uses her quirk so often that it has carefully wedged its way into her daily activities causing a few things to float around and about ! her hair is an often victim of this which has lead to the unruly top part of it.

「backstory summary:

coming from an elite family, she is often indoors and coddled. this leads to the unfortunate events of a weaker immune system which has caused the doubting of her heroic abilities considering she gets sick quire often. she passed the entrance exams for UA and even gained extensive recommendation letters from her professors from her previous school but with lingering doubt, she chooses the support course with an unsure, missing feeling.

instead of the general or business course, she chose the support course as she already has slight experience with item engineering.

though all that trouble of choosing which one to pick has come to an end when an anonymous recommendation to move her up to class 1-A surfaced.

with a more set in stone (and practically no choice) decision, she sets foot in the classroom of class 1-A. with little surprise, she sees an (un)expected familiar two-toned hair.

「easter egg ! :

fun fact ! : when looking closely on the pins of her bag strap, you would see a buster sword from ffvii (final fantady 7). the entire franchise of final fantasy means a lot to me, and discovered that horikoshi (the author of bnha) has quite the liking for the franchise as well. i thought it would be a fun addition to have amaterasu canonically like final fantasy as well.

we finished our banquet around 2 days ago <3

this is a lil drabble of what i think the characters after the text did with you/your oc during prom (inspired heavily by me and my gf's moments during the banquet)

warning(s): tooth rotting fluff, words, a lot of 'em, reader x character, oc x character, not edited, i did this at 1AM, CHARACTERS ARE BELOW THE LAST DIVIDER

panic sets in at the thought of your partner not being able to make it in time for the entrance. that's when they walk in the lobby with the biggest dorkiest smile, their steps light and swift. their goal was to get to you first, to ease the panic that they knew has wafted throughout your body, through your hand that has been relentlessly checking your phone that's expecting a message from them, and through your anxious tapping foot.

you scold them lightly for arriving at such a time, and they could only chuckle and smile while apologizing. it took no effort to forgive them, of course. not when they looked splendid. their clothing perfectly tailored onto them. it didn't matter if they rented, had it adjusted, or made it themselves. they looked wonderful, they stole the lingering stares, just like they stole yours. they held your hand, theirs warm and comforting your cold, numb one.

here comes the cotillion. you two dance with practiced steps along with your other partnered friends and batchmates. funny how you gaze at each other with knowing smiles, yet turn to face opposite directions out of the fluttering feeling lingering in both your chests. there were a few wrinkled steps that could have been executed better, but you were both having fun nonetheless.

the floor was free to dance for couples of both the juniors and seniors. your batch specifically announcing the songs, and encouraging anyone and everyone to reach the dance floor with a partner.

with newfound confidence, you stand up. your hand reached out to your partner, a soft toothy grin plastered on your face. as if expected, they grab your hand with firm assurance and haste.

your acquainted batchmates and familiar friends of your relationship woo's and wow's were heard and echoed throughout the banquet hall. the teachers only smirk at the nearby table with a, "i knew it" face.

your arm wrapped around them, their's around yours. you both hug each other's body. the coldness of the air conditioning slowly fading with the ribboning warmth circling around your bodies. each step made was simple as you turn and swirl. the monitor in the middle of the hall taking a favorite in you two as whoever is handling the camera keeps switching to you both every other second.

the music seeps into both your ears, the familiar native language turns into honey as you hear the words that you start to quietly sing to the sweetheart view in front of you. the lyrics of the want and need to dance with your partner slowly, and even until the music stops, you would sing acapella into their ear.

at the time of rest, you hold each other's hands. laughing and smiling—the glimmer in the eyes of you two viewed by outsiders are like strips of the milky way painting itself in. as the others look at you both, you only see each other.

with each love song that plays, another dance is ignited between you two. as a promise was kept the first night you two had confessed, "every love song is a confession from me to you."

i wonder what kind of thesis the class 1-A students did. did they do a quantitative or qualitative study ? maybe a quali-quanti. did they pass their proposal defense ?? did they need to do some prototypes for the students that did experimental researches ?

i wonder if some of them are just as nervous as i would be when it comes to defending the study.

i'd like to think that aizawa would be one of the panelists that heavily questioned them. i would be sweating bullets if he was one of the panelists, i would already be dying and expecting a, "revise this, this, and this part of your research paper." feel like he would mark the entire paper red with his red sign-pen.

warning/s: platonic/(hinted) non-platonic oc x character interactions, words a lot, self hc's for characters, did i mention there's a lot of words ?

「。。。first impressions

with the late news of her guaranteed spot at class 1-A, she was practically bolting down the cursed long corridors of the UA hero course building to get to her class. she had already missed the first day, she couldn't afford to be late the second day ! hearing the loud thud of the class 1-A door, the advisory teacher, aizawa, realizes that this must be the student he couldn't introduce yesterday.

with a clear of his throat, he asks this mystery person to come in. and there she goes, amaterasu fujiwara, with a messenger bag in hand, unkept floating hair, and quite the toothy grin on her face.

no wonder there was an extra chair in the classroom ! good thing yaoyorozu told iida not to ask the school staff for an extra chair pick-up.

being absent the first day and late the second was already quite the impression (at least on iida who is set that it is not very UA student behavior !) but the actual person herself was a beaming character.

she introduces herself smoothly with no awkward pauses and with a smile always kept on her glossed lips...well, maybe it did get a bit awkward when it was just everyone staring at the new face. amaterasu swiftly scans the student-filled classroom when she notices a familiar boy with two-toned hair.

it was noticeable when just that quick shift of her eyes lightened up her already bright smile. no one knew the reason though, and no one asked to which she takes her seat.

most of her classmates found her to be complex, to say the least. when expressed why or how, the immediate thought occurs of how many things about her are found to be contrasting and contradicting. like with how loud her physical appearance is, she's most of the time silent, and so on.

safe to say that she got along quite quickly with the majority of her classmates. maybe a few mishaps with the rules and regulations of being a UA student (iida insists), being called rapunzel as an insult for the "long-ass hair" (although she cluelessly thanks bakugou for the "compliment"), and being stumped with homework for missing a day and a few 12 minutes was one hell of a first week.

「character interactions:

with the girls of class 1-A planning a small get-together for a while on a weekend to get know more about each other, amaterasu's head is already tinkering with a new possible outfit for this. she was in her own little fashion world that she didn't hear about a few of the girls planning the time and whatnot. she'll have to unknowingly hope they send her the details.

it was mina's little squeal of excitement that broke amaterasu out of her little headspace. mina expresses how excited she is with a little more pep to her step on the way to the cafeteria.

so far amaterasu could safely say that she's made a few good friends with yaoyorozu, jirou, and a few of the other girls. she's already taken a quick notice of how shoto has been avoiding her, and with the self-doubt she already has, its resurfaced further which is enough for her to reciprocate.

the day of their first little hangout came and it was evident that everyone was quite excited to see their classmates out of their usual uniform. a few of the girls were in long and short skirts, the others in pants or shorts, everyone looked cute ! a few of the boys have already arrived in their graphic tees, some were in dress pants, and others. it was definitely refreshing to see everyone out of their uniform !

amaterasu gave a little wave at the sight of her classmates. it was funny because a few of them didn't realize that she was actually waving at them. that is until they realized it was their newfound friend approaching them who had a little skip to their step.

「yayourozu:

was already apologizing profusely with a nervous chuckle and when realization dawned on her that it was someone she was already quite close to !

she was quick to compliment amaterasu's outfit

「jirou:

the first to realize it was amaterasu

she shyly complimented her and melted further when amaterasu gushed about jirou's grunge-ish aesthetic ("your personality shows through so well !")

「tsuyu:

internally got excited at the sight of the outfit since she herself loves long skirts

asked if amaterasu would like to thrift some time ! (the lavender-haired girl giddily agreed)

「kirishima:

the one who pointed out the not-so matching aesthetic of the messenger bag

amaterasu only giggled at it and explained that it just sticks to any outfit

asked where to get the little star charms on her mary janes since he thought of pinning a few on his clothes

「denki:

adored !!! the mary janes

stealing kirishima's idea of adding star charms on his clothes

might gift some charms to jirou (🥹)

「uraraka:

shyly asked a few tips for make-up and clothing from amaterasu

amaterasu got passionate and started dragging uraraka around the place to get her a few things

"oh no, you are not paying !! i am, think of it as a gift !! because it is !!"

uraraka graciously accepted and took mental notes of how to use them

"we can have a mini sleepover when you want so i can glam you up well !"

「mina:

elated at the mention of a mini sleepover !!!

was quick to suggest it to the girls (they all already agreed)

also suggested to play with each other's hair when that unplanned sleepover will come (she needed an excuse to braid amaterasu, tsuyu, and yayourozu's hair)

i wonder if people made some bnha thesis defense fics

hot take, but i feel like yaoyorozu would be one of those research leaders that would take a lot of the workload (because no one else is doing much and can't do it any better than her) and slays the questions regarding the research defense BUT has to be stopped answering 'em to "give chance to the other members"
