Okay so I'm searching for a term for how I experience romantic attraction and so far I've found nothing so I figured I'd ask here! It's probably a long shot though. Essentially, I experience romantic attraction as sort of a switch, in my normal day to day life I would probably consider myself aromantic but I can choose to turn my romantic attraction on if I'd like to be interested in someone that way, and if things don't work out I can just turn it off again. I'm not very open about it at the moment since I haven't been able to find a label and I don't want people to misconstrue it as me saying that it's a thing everyone can do so I'm just really hoping there's something out there I can point people to when they ask me about it.

Aroflux is a romantic orientation on the aromantic spectrum. It is defined as someone whose romantic orientation fluctuates. An aroflux individual may fluctuate between experiencing aromanticism, grayromanticism, and alloromanticism. Aroflux may be used as an orientation on its own, or may be paired with another orientation term that describes the experienced attraction. Aroflux may overlap with abroromantic, however someone who is abroromantic experiences changes in what orientation of romantic attraction they experience. Generally, for aroflux individuals, when they feel attraction, the gender(s) they're attracted to are always the same. It is only how they're attracted to them or how intensely they're attracted to them that changes. Aromantic individuals who rarely feel spikes of attraction may use the term arospike. Alloromantic individuals who rarely jump to a lack of romantic attraction may use the term aro-jump.

Kinda a vent? (About me being arospec?)

I really thought I had everything figured out, turns out I probably don’t-

I’m trying SO hard to find out if I’m Arospike, Aegoromantic, or Orchidromantic-

(Or something else?)

My first relationship was a guy I had a crush on, but, when we started dating it kind of didn’t feel right? Like I wasn’t comfortable being in a relationship at all? And I think my crush on him might’ve disappeared? My second relationship was with a girl who I had a crush on, and when we started dating, I think my romantic attraction to her was so…..intense? (Which like, was so bad because she dumped me not long after we started dating-) I’ve had SO MANY crushes at school, which I guess DID fade a little bit as months went by, until the last day of school came where everyone was dressed really nicely, like in suits and dresses, which like, made me panic the whole day-

But anyway, I also feel like maybe I don’t want to be in a relationship? But I still want to have SOMETHING with someone? Like, I dunno a QPR probably? Unless I just want to think about having relationships bit don’t actually want to be in one? I’m so confused….

I don’t know who I am anymore.

Which is so hard for me to accept because I thought I was SO SURE about myself.

But now I don’t think I’ve ever been more confused in my life.

I’m starting to wonder if I’m even arospec at all, what if I just have something entirely different going on?

But anyway, I’m not really sure how I feel anymore. Everything is so confusing now.

I swear that I’ve practically researched every arospec identity, and I’m still not sure where I am.

Really hope I can figure this all out soon.
