Aliqualterous

Because it doesn't already exists, here's one of my own labels: Aliqualterous is an a*-spec orientation in which one only feels alterous attraction under certain circumstances. Aliqualterous can be considered an umbrella term, in which identities such as demialterous are included under it. However, aliqualterous can also be an identity on its own. For example, some individuals may only feel attraction to a very specific type of individual, or only when in a certain place or at a certain time.

The sexual counterpart to aliqualterous is aliquasexual. The romantic counterpart to aliqualterous is aliquaromantic. The queerplatonic counterpart to aliqualterous is aliquaqueerplatonic.

The flag is based on the aliquasexual and aliquaromantic ones by @genderstarbucks. The blue colour, which is the same as in the demialterous flag, was chosen as it represents alterous attraction and to match other alterous idenity flags.

List of aromantic spectrum identities/microlabels! ↗

Aegoromantic - being aromantic but still liking romantic things in a way that doesn't involve yourself. (movies, fanfic, etc)

Uniromantic - only experiencing romantic attraction to one person, and none for anyone else.

Cupioromantic - being aromantic but still wanting a romantic relationship.

Aroflux - fluctuating between different orientations on the arospec.

Myrromantic - being multiple labels on the arospec.

Apresromantic - only feeling romantic attraction after feeling another form of attraction. (platonic, sensual, aesthetic, etc)

Platoniromantic - not experiencing/feeling a difference between romantic and platonic attraction.

Idemromantic - differentiating platonic, romantic attraction, and relationships but feeling no significant difference between them.

Ceaseromantic - having your romantic attraction occasionally stop completely for a period of time.

Duraromantic - rarely feeling attraction, but when you do, it lasts for a long time.

Limnoromantic - only having your attraction piqued by depictions of it, but not of them in real life. (fanfic, writing, etc)

Aliquaromantic - not feeling attraction unless under specific circumstances.

Duoromantic - having two or more defined arospec orientations you switch between.

Acoromantic - being arospec because of past negative experiences.

Polarromantic - swapping between extreme attraction and none at all.

Schroromantic - being romantic and aromantic at the same time, or a mix of the two. (name coming from schrodingers cat)

Borearomantic - when your attraction seems to revolve around one person in particular.

Burstromantic - feeling attraction in sudden bursts which then fades away or leaves immediately.

Preromantic - feeling that you haven't had enough attraction to determine your orientation.

Quoiromantic - feeling your attraction doesn't exactly align with allos or anywhere on the arospec, not identifying with any labels, or feeling that you don't want to label your attraction as doing so wouldn't make sense. (multiple definitions)

Arospike - usually not experiencing attraction but sometimes having rapid and intense attraction which then plummets again.

Propeestromantic - having at least more than two labels on the arospec that feel mixed and all describe your identity.

Nebularomantic - having trouble distinguishing romantic attraction from platonic attraction due to neurodivergancy.

Recipromantic - only feeling attraction for someone after knowing they experience that attraction to you.

Requeroromantic - feeling limited or no romantic attraction due to trauma or emotional exhaustion.

Thymromantic - feeling attraction that varies depending on your emotional state.

Noviroromamtic - feeling your complicated romantic attraction cannot be contained by a single term.

Metaroromantic - experiencing attraction that cannot be defined by the strict terms of romantic and platonic.

Placioromantic - having no desire for romantic acts to be done for you, but feeling interest or desire in doing them for someone else.

Hyperaromantic - having more romantic desires than allos while still being on the arospec. (different from hyperromantic, a non arospec identity caused by trauma)

Apathromantic - someone who may or may not have romantic attraction, but feels indifferent to receiving it or acting on it.

Caedromantic - having once had romantic attraction, but feeling like it was lost or "cut away" somehow due to trauma.

Demiromantic - only experiencing romantic attraction after forming an emotional bond with someone first.

Grayromantic - rarely having romantic attraction, feeling it weakly, or having it unreliably come and go. (multiple definitions)

in order, we got bisexual, genderqueer, graysexual, genderfuck, quoiromantic, and arohaze!

explanations under cut

im bi but in a "i can be attracted to anyone" way, yknow? and bisexual means "attracted to 2 or more genders" so yes, that is still correct usage.

i use genderqueer and genderfuck interchangeably. genderfuck is more of a "gender is stupid" type thing but i use genderqueer in public

graysexual applies to people that only feel sexual attraction sometimes. personally i think i prefer aliquaromantic ("sexual attraction under specific circumstances") but whatever

quoiromantic means "doesn't understand/struggles to differentiate between platonic and romantic attraction and is unsure if they experience either". speaking of which im on the aplatonic spectrum and amorous (as defined by this website)

arohaze applies to someone who's orientation on the aromantic spectrum is neutral, inbetween, multiple, or unclear. i fall under the "multiple" here. specifically im recipromantic (only feels romantic attraction if it's reciprocated) and demiromantic (only feels romantic attraction when there's a preexisting emotional bond).

In the spirit of Aro Week: I'm coming out as aliquaromantic (an arospec identity where someone only feels romantic attraction under certain circumstances) and arofluix (both arofluid and aroflux).

For me, being aliquaromantic involves multiple circumstances, which vary in necessity due to being arofluix. Here they are by usual priority (they also have their own labels, which I’ll post about too):

Experiencing other forms of attraction prior (platonic/alterous)

Personal interaction with them

Being friends with them

An emotional bond of some sort

The other person feeling romantic attraction towards me

Aliquaqueerplatonic

Because it doesn't already exists, here's another one of my own labels: Aliquaqueerplatonic is an a*-spec orientation in which one only feels queerplatonic attraction under certain circumstances. Aliquaqueerplatonic can be considered an umbrella term, in which identities such as demiqueerplatonic are included under it. However, aliquaqueerplatonic can also be an identity on its own. For example, some individuals may only feel attraction to a very specific type of individual, or only when in a certain place or at a certain time.

The sexual counterpart is aliquasexual. The romantic counterpart is aliquaromantic. The alterous counterpart is aliqualterous.

The flag is based on the aliquasexual and aliquaromantic ones by @genderstarbucks. The pink and yellow stripes, which are the same as in the demiqueerplatonic flag, were chosen as they represent queerplatonic attraction and to match other queerplatonic orientation/idenity flags.

Hi, Anon! I feel your point about aliquaromantic and amicusromantic definitely makes sense, and either (or both) could work. I haven’t heard of a term just for romantic attraction only with qp attraction, but that could fit under both of those terms.
