Don’t look like much but here’s the next batch! They’ve been quenched and are going through the first temper cycle now! Keep an eye out later this week for these! Thanks everyone!!
I never really post on here, but I figured I would post some projects in progress:
Two mid-stage shots of an 80CRV2 hunting knife I’m making. Right now I’ve cleaned it up and got it ready for the quench, which is probably happening Tuesday if I can swing it. I like the shape, but I think I’ll do a drop point next time since I like the longer curve from tip to spine. This clip is nice, though. The spine proper is also rounded, which I really like the look of and will probably stick with for a while on the single-edged pieces.
This was the rough drafting of the finished piece. It’s not totally accurate, but it keeps the general idea in my head. The bit on the top right was an idea I had that I thought someone else might shoot down but then I also made it anyway, so, follow your dreams.
Here’s some of that one in progress. It’s a Damascus boot knife, nice and slim for stabbing. It’s going to be a gift. Very excited to see the real etch when I finish it - you can already see the patterning.
Huzaa! After 18 month out of commission due the old engine finally broke, Peter the powerhammer is once again operational! Needed to get new engine, new belt wheel for thst engine, to make new engine mount on thst engine... And everything else 😅 but it is finally done!
Lots of knives & forged work. This is an 80 layer damascus blade with African black wood. This crowd was always low end sales, but come on this blade for $250 with sheath! I won’t complain anymore. I had fun, friends came by, lots of alternative peeps stopped by, old students, etc. What a great crowd!
