Blue-Winged Teal
One last bird I spotted in the wetlands of the Northeast Swale on Wednesday, 18 May 2022 - a pair of Blue-Winged Teals! The one I spotted just kept preening and preening with its head shoved into a mess of feathers on it’s back and wouldn't stand in the Standard Birb Illustration pose... After that it decided to have a lie down on the shore and tuck its head completely away... Luckily, I did get a couple glimpses of details through the binoculars and made notes so I could figure out what it was.
I also came back a few days later and there were more of them, and closet to the shore I was at so I got a better look - and a few better pictures.

Blue-winged teal will often forage amongst other dabbling ducks (ducks extending their necks underwater in order to forage on vegetation as opposed to diving fully underwater).

In Blue-winged Teals, homosexual behavior appears to be primarily a manifestation of a bisexual potential, since same-sex pairing or courtship have so far only been observed in males isolated from females.
