One of my friends said the look is giving “the chaotic neutral secondborn who doesn’t have to be king so they just ride their horse around and stumble upon maidens in hijinks”

Bridgerton Experience outfit - a loosely regency inspired silhouette with prom sensibilities. I made the overdress extremely last minute, as I felt my outfit needed something. It's loosely (loosely!) based off of the open-front c.1795 dress from Patterns of Fashion, but overall isn't made too well and is essentially safety-pinned to my body. I used almost entirely materials that I already had (excepting the neck trim) due to it being last-minute, and since Bridgerton loves its sparkles, I picked a striped chiffon with silver glittery threads running through it as the main material - this ended up being a pain since chiffon is always a pain, but at least I ended up with something wearable? The tiara felt weird to pair since I think it's the biggest departure from historical, but it is Bridgerton, after all. Everyone was dressed up like royalty and/or prom, with tiaras of their own, so why not?
OP Surfacespell (taobao brand), overdress handmade, shoes Mary Magdalene, socks technically AP, gloves vintage, rest offbrand

Going to the Bridgerton experience with Charlie
Yesss of course! This took me forEVER and a day because I had to educate myself on the Bridgerton Experience 🤪 i could not find information to save my SOUL so I apologize if this is vague.
Tumblr media
“Woah,” you breathed. “You look… incredible!”
“That’s funny coming from you,” he laughed, poking the tip of your nose with the pad of his finger. “You’re so pretty!”
You blushed. You couldn’t look him in the face. He looked like a real life prince. He was dressed up in a gray suit with a brown shirt and his hair was slicked back.
“You did your makeup so pretty,” he squished your cheeks and kissed your forehead suavely.
“Oh, Charlie,” you scolded, rolling your eyes. “You know I haven’t done my makeup yet!”
“You look gorgeous either way,” he told you, standing behind you, hands gripping your chair tightly.
He was taking you to the Bridgerton Experience for your birthday and you couldn’t wait. You applied your makeup as fast as you could, just the way you liked it, while Charlie watched.
“You don’t need to wear all of that,” he commented, beckoning to the products on the table before you. “But I’ve gotta say, it’s fun to kiss you when you’re wearing a lotta lipgloss.”
“Shut up, you’re distracting me,” you hissed, cheeks flaming. “Can you go get my shoes?”
“Which pair?”
“Whatever you think would look best.” you never looked away from the mirror so you never saw how Charlie’s eyes sparkled.
“Okay!” He returned minutes later with your tallest, strappiest pair of heels and you gasped at him.
“You want me to wear those? God, I’m not gonna be able to walk in those! What if I’m the only girl there so dressed up?”
“Then so be it,” he commented solidly. “You’re my Princess and I want the world to know it.”
“Charlie,” you rubbed your thighs hard. “Stop. I don’t wanna go anymore! I just wanna stay home and cuddle with you!”
“Oh. Okay. Let’s go!”
In the car, Charlie couldn’t help staring at you. You were on your phone at first, then looking out the window. It was silent and Charlie kept his eyes on his princess.
“Eyes on the road, sexy,” you reminded him. You had seen his reflection in the window and he hadn’t been paying attention to what he ought.
“I can’t help it, beautiful.”
“You have to..”
“It’s your fault for being so attractive,” he groaned. “Your so hot, my eyes are burning just from looking at you!”
“Stop with that,” you scolded him. “So cheesy, Chaz.” You could definitely not admit that you loved it.
——————
When you got there, you immediately tensed in the posh atmosphere and you stayed glued to Charlie’s side.
“Don’t be scared, sweetheart,” Charlie said, almost mockingly. “I’m right here.” He gave you a hug and you went for a big kiss. Screw disliking PDA.
———————
After it was over, you got back to the car with Charlie and he placed his hand on your knee as he drove away. “Such a sweet girl for coming with me tonight! Happy birthday, my love!”
“Thanks for taking me,” you sighed in contentment. “That was really cool.”
“Now what?”
“Home?”
“Of course, darling, but what do you want to do at home?”

Me: Hey, they just added Bridgerton Experience tour dates in Atlanta.
B--who has never seen an episode of Bridgerton but knows I'll take any opportunity to put on vaguely victorian clothes and force him into a brocade waistcoat--pulling up his calendar: I'll have to go to Atlanta for work anyway in August. Do you want to go in August?
Time to start planning our outfits, lads.

Project Beginning: Adapting an Ancient Greek chiton to Regency style, plus incorporating Filipino patterns.
(Main text is copied from my own Reddit post, on the off-chance that anyone does a Google search and worries about plagiarism.)
--
So I'm a very rusty cosplayer who's heading to the Bridgerton Experience in August, and I was brushing up on Regency styles for my outfit. As many reenactors know, Regency folks were big fans of "Grecian style" clothing and hairstyles, and why not? Ancient Greece had a lot of lovely draping/fluid garments, so I was thinking of literally just making an Ancient Greek peplos and tailoring the sleeves/skirt for more shape.
The last time I sewed anything outside of fixing normal clothes was at a cosplay convention before the pandemic. That was a Moana cosplay, since I'd originally planned on that being my "easy and fun getup before I test out things with patterns or heavy shaping" project, so I'd say "basic hand-sewing and light embroidery" is the level of my sewing skills right now. Which is partly why I signed up for a Bridgerton-themed event for my SECOND "easy outfit to get back into sewing" project, since Regency loves its minimalist clothing. Heavy sigh at the state of the world right now.
--
This article in particular has a lot of great pictures comparing Ancient Greek to Regency clothes: https://sharonlathanauthor.com/grecian-influence-on-regency-fashion
I also know that the Bridgerton Experience is not a "proper" reenactment type of event, and since I heard Season 2 of Bridgerton has part-Indian characters, I was thinking of using precolonial Filipino patterns or tattoo-inspired motifs somewhere on the dress! Not using traditional FABRIC, though--the companies I've found for that are in the Philippines or across the country, and with the pandemic screwing up logistics, I'm going to buy things as "close to my area" as possible.
Filipino weaving and tattoo motifs tend to be geometric, so replacing Ancient-Greek hem and sleeve designs with Filipino ones seems like it would fit right in, but traditional Filipino tattoos are blackwork (check out Lane Wilcken's tattooing work on his public page https://www.facebook.com/filipinotattoosancienttomodern ), so I'm definitely going to use a lighter pastel/earthtone color as the main dress to "soften things up."
For the first step, I'm just going to buy some muslin this week or next week and start draping/pinning a peplos for the overdress (Found a great instruction article at this link https://web.archive.org/web/20151105022544/http://www.dl.ket.org/latin1/things/romanlife/greekdress.htm ), and I'll either buy a shift or start drafting out a chiton for the underdress.
