i just submitted my bachelor thesis. it's titled “Steve Rogers and Captain America aren’t always the same guy”: Captain America fanfiction as a Locus of Transformation, Identity Exploration, and Reclamation" and i'm not officially writing a dedication, but i want you all to know that this is really dedicated to you.

the cap/stucky fandom has been something like a family to me for pretty much the entirety of my getting this degree, and the incredible work you all do inspires me every day. thank you for welcoming me and my work into this community. i truly believe that this fandom has some of the best artists, graphic designers, and writers out there, and your transformation of steve has been fascinating enough to write a 12k thesis about.

thank you for continuously creating our fanon version of steve, who is stubborn and liberated and funny and more true and beautiful than most of the things we're drawing from. i love our queer, disabled, immigrant, catholic, transgressive punk from brooklyn, and i love you all for making him so real to me. thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you pour into this community, and for helping me get this degree.

Hello lovely! I'm sorry it took me a couple of days to get to this, I needed to sit down and look through some blogs/AO3, but I've found a bunch of fics that feature one or both of the boys celebrating Hannukah! What my favourite sound is?

I really like the sound of rain? The constant, quiet hum when it’s pouring outside and I’m warm and dry at home kjdaka Thunderstorms are also great, terrifying in their power but I like it. Oh, or the noises trains make when you’re in one, especially the older ones. It’s probably just my sentiment and love for train travels djksakj 

My biggest fear?

It’s either being left behind at some point or the feeling that I’m letting my life go past me and when I finally jump in for the ride, it’ll be too late and I won’t have time to make up for all the time I’ve lost due to whatever is happening right now (both with me and the world around dkjaskjda). I think those two are entwined somehow 

What i was up to while drunk this weekend?

I was at my brother’s and one of his friends was there and I’m pretty sure he has been making a move on me those few times we’ve met lmao I’m usually bad at noticing those but he’s kinda obvious djakjs But he’s kind of a player so I guess it’s a default for him, so I never know how to read that. which is why I wasn’t sure what I think about him but I’d totally made out with him if he made a move this weekend djaskjdka But he didn’t and I was way too dissapointed than I should have been lmao

Oh my god don’t even get me started. We often get called British. Irish celebrities are often claimed by British media or we’re just generally considered to be part of Britain by other countries. This makes my blood boil because of our messy history with them. British rule started here following an invasion in 1169 according to google lmao, we got Independence in 1922 so we are an independent republic and not British. Northern Ireland is still part of the UK though. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk :’)

Soldat - if you could speak any other language, which would you choose?

Oh god, so many. I have speech/language and auditory processing disorders which makes foreign languages unreasonably difficult to learn and understand. I took ASL in high school because it’s visual-based and that went pretty well.

I know a little bit of Spanish, Hebrew, and German from my childhood and can read passably in French, but I wouldn’t say I’m proficient in anything but English and ASL.

All that to say: Top languages I’d like to (try to) learn are Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, and Romanian (we all know why that one’s on there)

Oh, spn? Nah, tonight is the episode before the last. (one hour to go, I’m not ready) But Jensen has said it feels like the season final while the last feels like the series final. NOT.PREPARED.AT.ALL. 

11: What’s a stucky fic idea you’ve thought about writing, but haven’t yet?

OMG I’m so glad you asked this one! So I have three longfic ideas, two of which are 100% happening. (first time meeting bakery!au and an established relationship kid!fic) But the one I’ve thought about for quite some time, is a National Treasure (the nicolas cage movie) AU. I just cannot get the thought of Steve stealing the declaration of independence out of my head, and saying it. Bucky would take the ‘role’ of Abigale (the love interest in the movie) and they’d go on an adventure similar to the movie, while also slowly falling in love. The antagonist would work out perfectly too, that being Piece and Rumlow. 

But what’s stopping me is those other two fics and the fact that I’d need to do a lot of research throughout the movie lol. I’ve loved the movie for so long (since 4th grade) but I’d want to incorporate original scenes between inspired scene from the movie. Ahhh one day! 

20: How did you discover stucky?

I don’t know how many of you know, but I used to be a filthy casual (gaming/warcraft reference) when it came to Marvel. Like two months before this whole pandemic went down, I finally decided to start a rewatch since Disney+ was released. It seemed intimidating before, having to watch across multiple streaming services but if you put most of them on one platform, it doesn’t seem as bad. So I did that (I already saw Ironman 1 & 3, OG Avengers, AOU and Cap 3 in the past, CASUALLY. I saw them either in the theater or through family gatherings then went on with my life. That’s how little I knew about Marvel and since then, I had no motivation to catch up. I ignored, and somehow avoided all the endgame spoilers but I instead, spoiled myself by time I got to it. 

So at first I watched all 3 Ironman movies, got myself into some irondad fanfics then moved onto the Cap trilogy. (Though I watched by release order- Also TIH and Thor 2 are both boring as hell, I’d rather sit through endgame, I ain’t kidding you, Least I’d have something to rant/think about lol.) TFA I didn’t start shipping it. When Bucky fell off the train, my Supernatural brain though ‘ahh, he’ll be back!’ (even tho I knew he’s in cap 3, I know, out of order in the past pfft) Also, ghifmaking has made me warm up to that movie, by a lot. 

Cap 2? First off, that movie is near flawless. I think I could watch that and Ironman 3 for the rest of my life. Just gimme National Treasure, Cars 1, and Scooby Doo on Zombie island and I’m good. 

THE GODDAMN FLASHBACK SCENE IS WHAT GOT ME. Not the iconic ‘TTEOTL’ scene, no, no, no, no. Just the scene of Steve starting into the woods with his hands in his pockets, thinking back to Bucky in 1930′s brooklyn. *insert ‘that shit is breahtaking, bro’ gif here* 

So yeah, between TFA and CW (I do still love CW contrary to fandom opinion, but I do agree it feels more like an Avengers movie than anything) my heart was like: that’s you new OTP. 

I watched the rest of the MCU and did a head dive into fanfiction. And now here I am with this blog, making gifs, writing fanfic, and enjoying the fandom with the rest of you wonderful people :D Literally haven’t had this much fun in a fandom since I joined the spnfamily, and that’s saying a lot. So I think I’m shipping these two dorks for...life. Yup. ‘Don’t forget, you’re here forever.’ 

50: What do you love the most about stucky?

AAAAAAHHHHH, so many things!!! 1) The fandom, above all else I think. To hell with canon, we’ll make our own ship by hand. 2) Just how romantic they are, seriously. 3) How their love is stretched across a century and they both come back to life at the exact same time.

To answer the questions, Shield: something that always makes me feel better is a warm drink, wrapping myself up in a blanket, ad a story. A story can be a book, fan fiction (which is like a book), a movie/tv show, or very rarely conversation.

Punk: some of my favorite songs.. Oh man. I can never have one favorite. Um. Right Here by Ashes Remain, Strangers by Scratch21, Snow by Malumi, and Bring me the Night by Sam Tsui. Since I've been playing those on repeat recently.
