I now have two journals that might be good for this art journal/diary thing I’ve been thinking about.
One I think I’ll definitely use for mythology and folklore. The other maybe Ancient Rome, since I’m learning Latin?
Basically as I’m studying I want to make a creative diary of things I’ve learnt alongside what I’m teaching myself. For example one thing could be different depictions of certain gods or stylistic art styles of certain cultures.
A page of Celtic knots or common patterns on fabrics in certain cultures. Other pages could be collages, sketches etc.

Some items from my notebook collection:
Tumblr media
My anthro book, linguistics book and mythology and folklore book. Sadly there wasn’t a third one available in a large velvety cover like the top two.
Tumblr media
My diary (on the left) and bullet journal. This months spread isn’t finished yet and is certainly not as neat as I’d like. But it will do for a first timer!
Tumblr media
Finally the newest additions to my hoard. A 365 notebook for little bits of poetry and creative writing, and I’ve decided to use the llama one for Latin and Gaelic.
Now I do have others but I think that’s enough for this blog, don’t you? What notebooks do you have?

Managed to complete three pages in my Latin journal and two in my mythology and folklore one.
I think I might wait until I start with some of the MIT free online courses before I write more in my anthro and linguistics ones. Unless people have ideas where I should start.
There’s just so much I want to study and learn that I’m lost as to where I should start myself.

Hello studyblr community!
I’m a 30 year old aussie looking to learn practically everything. And I’ve made this blog to help me achieve this lofty goal. Since I can’t afford uni or tafe, I’ll be trying learn through free online courses and personal research.
My main is songofages so if you get any likes or follows, it’s just me! My about page goes into way more depth about my interests and projects, so hit that up if you’re curious.
Hope to get to meet some of you soon. Bye!

I’m thinking this one for the mythology stuff in my previous post. It’s more blue than the photo depicts but it’s a lovely little journal that I’m looking forward to working in.

Completed three my pages in my Latin notebook! It’s bare basics: numbers, food, days of the week etc. But I’m loving it.

This blog is still a work in progress. I’m still playing around with themes and ideas so it’s organised enough to make sense.
So if you click something and it doesn’t work, that’s why.

I haven’t written much in my notebooks later as my hand eczema has flared up but I’ve at least been able to print off a bunch of stuff I need and been helping someone work on a discord server for MIT open courses. But it’s not ready yet.

possible art diary/journal themes
- Latin/Ancient Rome
- Mythology (maybe norse or celtic)
- Medieval Era (chaucer, marginalia, book of hours etc)
- Anthropology (fashion and jewellery)
suggestions?

So I have quite a few notebooks and I’ve been wondering what to do with them. And I had a thought about making them into sorta art diaries where I talk about what I’m learning and inspired by.
For example say I turned one into something inspired by the medieval era. Or Latin/Rome. Or something I’m studying in anthropology or mythology. And just make it as creative as possible.
So it wouldn’t really be for studying per se, but documenting that journey.
Thoughts?

Managed to write a bit in my notebooks. Did a page for: anthro, linguistics, mythology and Latin basics.
Looking to add more in the first three. Might write a bit about fashion or ancient Gaul. Or maybe some Middle English?
These are all like bare basics not something concrete. I haven’t decided where or what to focus on yet.

I think I’ll start with learning the basics of some of my interests ( like historical linguistics and anthropology) and work up from there. They just cover so much and I only have so many notebooks.
I’d love to do a major but the money just isn’t there. Plus I’m 30, I already struggle finding a job and somewhere to live because of my health, that’s another few years without either.
