Another wonderful song rescued by Eccentric Soul. The Out of Sights were a Cleveland soul group signed to the Saru label. Strangely enough, the Out of Sights released a very different song with the same title in 1970.
In September 2021, I decided to draw my childhood home on a whim (this illustration has since been revisited). What resulted was a digital illustration that had a dynamic woodcut-and-watercolor aesthetic that I quite enjoyed, so I decided to turn it into a series and draw every place that I'd ever lived in (including my college dorm, and a friend's live-in art studio that served as kind of a halfway-house of sorts). Unexpectedly, while I worked on each of these, I was able to get into the mindset of my own past selves. There were some homes that were difficult to illustrate because of negative feelings and memories attached to them, and some that I was able to give extra loving care and attention because of their associated nostalgia. This series will be in progress as long as I keep moving and until I unknowingly find the home where I will live for the rest of my life. I am certainly not the first person to illustrate houses, but these are uniquely mine.

LIVE IN '55 -- "MAYBELLENE" WAS THE BIGGEST GUITAR HIT IN THE LAND.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on the late, great Chuck Berry playing a Kay Thin Twin K-161 electric guitar, one of his earlier gigs, live at Gleason's Musical Bar in Cleveland, OH, in August, 1955. 📸: local DJ Tommy Edwards.
Man, this is such an early shot, and to put things into perspective even further, Chuck's first hit, "Maybellene," had only been released one month prior, in July '55. Fuck me, this was an early shot, and everyone in attendance at this gig was lucky to have been there at all.
Not me realizing I never blogged about seeing The Dear Hunter this summer. Peep that sweet merch (and Casey’s lil’ note from the Pillar presale lunchbox 😭) Also got to meet Rob for a quick second after the show, and that was a treat!

If you live in *Ohio* you should have voted "no" by now. But, if you haven't you still have till the end of Aug 8th! Time to search up your poll site and get going!
(But, don't feel bad if this caught you off guard, Ohio Republicans are hoping no one will show up to vote. That's why this election is at an abnormal time of the year when no one is home.)
Vote NO on issue 1. It's a strange constitutional amendment that changes the threshold to make it possible for a small group to veto everything. It's the only thing on the ballot.
(Though really vote however you want, look up issue 1 and see what you think. It sounds obscure, but it's more important than it looks. I'm personally convinced a "no" vote is best.)
Which ACW-or-later president do you reckon had the other kind of highest body count?
At this point, I'm fairly sure that Grover Cleveland is at least a plausible contender, but off the top of my head, it's probably JFK. That man had a sex addiction or something along those lines. The secret service wasn't able to keep him from fucking Russian spies.
