why neuroscience is cool
space & the brain are like the two final frontiers
we know just enough to know we know nothing
there are radically new theories all. the. time. and even just in my research assistant work i've been able to meet with, talk to, and work with the people making them
it's such a philosophical science
potential to do a lot of good in fighting neurological diseases
things like BCI (brain computer interface) and OI (organoid intelligence) are soooooo new and anyone's game - motivation to study hard and be successful so i can take back my field from elon musk
machine learning is going to rapidly increase neuroscience progress i promise you. we get so caught up in AI stealing jobs but yes please steal my job of manually analyzing fMRI scans please i would much prefer to work on the science PLUS computational simulations will soon >>> animal testing to make all drug testing safer and more ethical !! we love ethical AI <3
collab with...everyone under the sun - psychologists, philosophers, ethicists, physicists, molecular biologists, chemists, drug development, machine learning, traditional computing, business, history, education, literally try to name a field we don't work with
it's the brain eeeeee

AI and Computational Linguistics sound AMAZING
Now I'm really curious on how psychology compliments it (and I'll be more than happy if you feel like explaining or gushing about whatever you like about it if you are comfortable!)
(@/thatwhiteboardpsychstudent)
It IS amazing! At first I thought Neurobiology and Psychology would be what would interest me the most and now Neurobiology is what interests me the least in the field haha. No front to Neurobiology though, still interesting I just geek out about other topics more!
First of all, cognitive science is a preparadigmatic interdisciplinary field and it's disciplines can be best visualized with this hexagon
I'll happily gush about it a bit more or explain it in more detail if anyone is interested.
Algorithms or networks that use ariticifal intelligence or concepts of computational linguistics can be used to accompany therapy sessions for further insights or to supplement techniques. For examples on how AI can be used in clinical psychology read here. I am not an expert on this though!! My focus is on deep learning applications for natural language processing :) Think: speech assistant, automated closed captions or emergent languages.

Cognitive Theory and Primary Science Teaching
Cognitive science is gaining increasing influence in education and many existing and developing educational approaches are described as ‘inspired by cognitive science’. Many of these approaches have been long practiced or described as effective pedagogy without any reference to cognitive science – for example, quizzing pupils on topics has been common even without this being thought of as a form…

In case this takes a while to fall off the queue: The "top post" listed is the one where I noted the existence of an unexpected ship in a fandom I barely pay attention to.
You never know which posts are gonna explode.

[25.09.2022]
Sadly I did not get a lot of Sensory Physiology done, just one page and a bit of the lecture. My head hurts and the information about receptor cells is all swimming together in my brain. My hope is set on tomorrow.
