Loki Season 2: First Look at Sylvie's New Costume (Official) [The Direct]
MCU fans got their first official look at the new costume Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie will don in Season 2 of Marvel Studios' Loki on Disney+.
After killing He Who Remains and sending the Multiverse into pure chaos in Loki Season 1, Sylvie will once again play a major role in her comeback as she reunites with Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief.
And with set photos already teasing a new look for the Goddess of Mischief as she comes back for more mayhem, Marvel Studios has every intention of putting the spotlight on this character after becoming a fan-favorite in 2021. Sylvie's New Costume from Loki Season 2
Marvel Vice President & Creative Executive Ryan Penagos shared images of Sylvie's new costume from Season 2 of Loki, which was seen in a display set up at San Diego Comic-Con 2023.
Tumblr media
The outfit shows off a long patterned coat over Sylvie's usual Asgardian garb, which will more than likely be seen thorughout the season's six episodes.
While Marvel Studios hasn't officially released a full trailer yet, the short bits of footage released thus far show off Di Martino in another outfit, teasing her trip through different decades of history.
Tumblr media
Sylvie's Upcoming Role in Loki Season 2
Sophia Di Martino previously teased that Sylvie will "fundamentally still be the same character" when she comes back in Season 2, setting up new wild adventures as she reunites with Tom Hiddleston's Loki.
The big question now is what her specific goals or mission will be when she comes back into the fray, especially with Season 2 picking up right where Season 1 left off with the TVA in complete shambles.
And with a "deeper" story coming into play for more than just Sylvie, viewers are eager to see which side of the fight Sylvie ends up on as she continues to look for the best avenue for herself.

THE ‘STRANGER THINGS’ BOYS ARE OUR ‘NYLON GUYS’ SEPTEMBER 2017 COVER STARS
If anyone understands the sudden shift from “not fitting in” to “one-million-plus followers,” it’s these guys.
Tumblr media
The following feature appears in the September 2017 issue of NYLON Guys.
Finn Wolfhard just couldn’t resist. Despite needing to be camera-ready for his NYLON photo shoot, the 14-year-old star of Stranger Things decided to suck on a blue Warhead anyway, and now he’s paying the price. “All these sets have candy on them, and I can’t help myself. It was a mistake,” he admits, sheepishly trying to scrub the cerulean stain from his tongue with a miniature toothbrush. To his right, Gaten Matarazzo wears a gray T-shirt that reads, uh oh! did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?, a slogan worthy of Dustin Henderson, the lovable wisecracker he plays opposite Wolfhard on the hit Netflix show. Matarazzo, also 14, is getting his trademark tangle of curls straightened, much to the delight of Noah Schnapp, who, at 12, is the youngest in this group of breakout stars that has helped make Stranger Things the most obsessed-over show in Netflix’s boundless roster of original series. Missing is Caleb McLaughlin, the energetic 15-year-old who plays Lucas Sinclair, but he’s on his way over in a black car, having just arrived from Los Angeles, fresh off an appearance at the BET Awards.
It’s the first time the boys have been together in several weeks, and none of them can pinpoint exactly when they were last in the same room. Ever since Stranger Things became a cultural phenomenon last summer, they’ve been swept up in a whirlwind of red carpets, talk shows, and fan conventions. And as the premiere of the sci-fi and horror fantasia’s top-secret second season nears, this summer has been overtaken by a flurry of promotional duties. Next week, while most kids their age are cooling off in pools or testing out the latest in roller coaster technology, Matarazzo and McLaughlin will be at Denver Comic Con, signing autographs and posing for selfies with wide-eyed fans. A few weeks after that, all four will find themselves inside the hallowed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, where they’ll premiere the thrilling trailer for Season 2 to rapturous applause.
But on this day, even though they’re technically at work, the boys still find time to goof off. They are, after all, best friends—like brothers, even, they say—and there’s a lot of catching up to do, memes to be shared, and jokes to be cracked. “We used to call Noah ‘Señor Biebs,’” Matarazzo offers at one point, due to Schnapp’s Season 1 bowl cut and its resemblance to the former haircut of a certain Canadian pop star. “He hates it!” he says, just before he sticks his finger into Schnapp’s ear (playfully, of course).
Inside the bright and breezy photo studio on Manhattan’s West Side, publicists abound, but because these budding stars are still minors, there are also parents. It’s an unusual sight, and a reminder that despite having very grown-up jobs, they’re still not old enough to drive. Wolfhard, the Vancouver native who plays Mike Wheeler, is here with his father, as is Matarazzo, who hails from Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Schnapp and his parents came in from Westchester County, north of the city. When McLaughlin, who grew up in Carmel, New York, finally arrives lugging a suitcase that’s almost as big as he is, he’s accompanied by his father, a burly man in an Atlanta Braves cap who goes around the room with his son hugging the other parents, a reminder of how tight the makeshift family has become since this odyssey began more than two years ago.
Stranger Things premiered as an underdog. Its creators, the twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, were unproven talents who had previously written for the Fox sci-fi series Wayward Pines. Except for Winona Ryder’s comeback as a grieving mother searching for her missing son, the cast was composed largely of unknowns and newcomers. But thanks to its double dose of supernatural intrigue and a nostalgic ’80s-tinged glow, along with a miraculous performance by a young British actress with a shaved head, Stranger Things quickly commandeered the pop-culture conversation in a way that few shows have done. In July, the show received a staggering 18 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Created by the Duffers in the spirit of the Amblin-era entertainments they were raised on, the eight-episode first season is set in 1983 in Hawkins, Indiana, and unravels the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Will Byers, played by Schnapp, who vanishes in the first episode after an encounter with the show’s resident boogeyman, the otherworldly creature known as the Demogorgon. As Will’s three misfit best friends—Mike, Lucas, and Dustin—embark on a quest to find him, they uncover an alternate dimension they dub The Upside Down, and a sinister government conspiracy that may be responsible for opening it. They also befriend Eleven, the feral girl with telekinetic powers embodied iconically by 13-year-old Millie Bobby Brown.
Stranger Things began filming its second season under very different circumstances than the first. What once felt like a scrappy production free of scrutiny from outside sources suddenly had the mood and atmosphere of a major Hollywood blockbuster. “Netflix knew it would be a good show,” McLaughlin says, “but they didn’t realize how big it would be and that the whole world was going to freak out about it.” Because of that intense interest from both the network and the public, the set suddenly had a noticeable security presence shielding it from nosy onlookers and paparazzi, while network executives showed up to make sure their prized racehorse was galloping along. Suddenly, there were expectations. “We raised the bar pretty high with the first season,” says Matarazzo. “There was a lot more tension on set, in that we really needed to make sure it was good.”
When Season 2 premieres on October 27, a year will have passed since Eleven sacrificed herself to defeat the faceless Demogorgon and save the boys, in the Season 1 finale. Trying to squeeze spoilers out of Wolfhard, McLaughlin, Schnapp, and Matarazzo is useless. Extensive media training, including detailed notes on what they can and can’t discuss, have transformed them into a rare breed: teenagers who can keep a secret. What they can say: Season 2 is bigger, darker, and scarier. There’s also a new character in town, played by Sadie Sink. (According to the Duffers, Millie Bobby Brown was “relieved” to have another girl on set.) “She’s a skater, sort of a punk girl, and she slowly becomes part of the group,” says Wolfhard, who also says his character will be depressed and “a loner” in the wake of Eleven’s disappearance. What they can’t say: pretty much everything else. But it’s not just scoop-hungry journalists who harass them for info. “Whenever you get recognized by fans, most of the time they ask you if you’ve got any spoilers for Season 2, and I’m like, ‘No, none, not at all,’” says Matarazzo. “It’s definitely kind of stressful.”
One of the biggest changes for the new season is the expansion of Schnapp’s screen time. Because his character spends much of the first season trapped in an alternate dimension, Schnapp spent a good deal of time at home in New York while everyone else filmed in Atlanta. “Last year I would drive up to the studio and everyone would be like, ‘Hey, Noah, we’ve missed you! How’ve you been?’” says Schnapp. “This year was a lot easier because last year, I’d have to go in and out of school, and that was hard. This year I could focus.”
Although he’s rescued from The Upside Down, we last saw Schnapp removing a slithery creature from his mouth, a telltale sign that not all is well with Will Byers. For Schnapp, whose character mostly communicated through Christmas lights in Season 1, the new episodes meant new challenges as an actor. “Shawn Levy, one of our directors, was telling me, ‘Noah, you have something really big this season. We have a lot in store for you, and you should get really excited,’” he says. Schnapp felt the added pressure, and would sometimes text his TV mom, Ryder, for extra help with particularly emotional scenes. “We knew we needed a strong actor in case the series moved forward into a second season, because we knew he was going to be a centerpiece,” says Matt Duffer. “We needed not just a good actor, but a really, really good actor.” Schnapp rose to the occasion, according to the Duffers. Shawn [Levy] was like, ‘We’ve had a Ferrari sitting in the garage all of Season 1, and now the fucking garage doors are open.’”
The Duffers knew that casting child actors, who have a tendency to favor exaggerated performances over naturalistic ones, would make or break their show. “There’s really nothing worse than a bad child performance,” Ross Duffer says. “You couldn’t have any weaknesses, or the eight hours would be excruciating.” Along with their casting director, the Duffers saw what they estimate to be 900 kids, an undertaking they say was easier than it sounds because they could tell within the first few minutes if the actor had what they needed. “You’re looking for something authentic, and most kids don’t have it,” says Ross. “There are the ones that are obviously well-trained, but they feel too Disney, like they’re winking at the camera.” What the Duffers found with their four young male stars were kids who seemed like actual kids.
Matarazzo was the first one cast, his audition so impressive that he found out he got the part on the way back from the airport. “We didn’t really even know who the Dustin character was until we found Gaten,” says Matt Duffer. “He was sort of a generic nerd with glasses. He was a stereotype.” Matarazzo, whose sense of humor inspired the Duffers to transform Dustin into the show’s primary source of comic relief, has grown up with a condition known as cleidocranial dysplasia, which stunts the development of bones and teeth. “We wanted to make a show about outsiders, about kids who didn’t fit in and who were bullied and made fun of,” says Matt. “Gaten was really able to tap into all of that.”
McLaughlin and Matarazzo had known each other from their days as stars in two of Broadway’s biggest shows. Matarazzo portrayed Gavroche in Les Misérables, and McLaughlin played Simba in The Lion King. They’d often see each other in a park frequented by “Broadway kids,” as Matarazzo calls them. “When I found out Caleb had gotten Lucas I was like, ‘Caleb? Where do I know that name from?’” he recalls. Wolfhard and Schnapp established an early connection, too—sort of. “He doesn’t remember me, but I remember him,” Wolfhard says. “Because I asked him what other projects he had done, and he said, ‘I was the voice of Charlie Brown in The Peanuts Movie.’ I was like, ‘What?! You’re Charlie Brown?’ I was so pysched about that.”
Although they had all crossed paths during the audition process, usually around the hotel pool or at chemistry reads, it wasn’t until they arrived in Atlanta to begin production that all four boys, along with Millie Bobby Brown, found themselves together in the same room for the first time. If there was a first-day-of-school feel, it made sense: They met in a classroom, which is where the young cast of Stranger Things still spend most of their time when they’re not filming. That grueling schedule means the only opportunities they get to really mess around are between takes, and sometimes during them. “We have laughing problems,” says McLaughlin. Matt Duffer elaborates: “We definitely have an issue, where we can’t get through a take without someone busting up. They’re always making each other crack up—the number of takes ruined by laughter is in the hundreds.”
Schnapp was at summer camp when Stranger Things dropped on Netflix. He wasn’t allowed to have his phone, but shortly after the series premiered, one of his counselors happened to check his Instagram account—80,000 followers. The next day it was 85,000. “I was like, ‘Wait, what’s going on?’ I think I was at one follower before that,” Schnapp says. Wolfhard also remembers that odd rush of watching his followers skyrocket and realizing his life was changing right in front of his eyes. McLaughlin felt his anonymity evaporate the first time he was recognized. “In L.A., this kid came up to me and was like, ‘Hey, are you Caleb Reginald McLaughlin?’” he says. “And I’m like, ‘What? You know my middle name? That’s nuts.’”
The connection between the boys is strengthened by the surreal turn their lives have taken, circumstances that most kids their age can’t relate to. When Matarazzo, McLaughlin, and Wolfhard met Barack Obama last October, as guests of the White House’s South by South Lawn festival, the former president, who’s a fan of the show, told them he especially enjoyed their on-screen camaraderie. That bond exists offscreen, too, and has only gotten stronger with every award show and panel. “They really are my best friends,” Matarazzo says. “We can relate to each other a lot more than other people can. People try to understand everything that goes on, but they can’t unless they’ve been there.”
“I don’t think any of the kids would say that our friendship is similar to the friendships they have back home, because it’s not,” says Wolfhard. “No kid has ever really had an experience that I’m experiencing right now—it’s a unique sort of friendship.”
Wolfhard is careful not to bring his work home with him. “If you go home and all you talk about is acting, then you’re a douchebag,” he says. “Your friends don’t want to hear about your professional life, they just want to mess around.” Plus, when you’re 14 years old, talking about work is never cool, even if it involves facing off against a faceless interdimensional demon. The boys are also learning that with a great number of Instagram followers comes great responsibility. “We have to be more cautious with what we say on social media and in public,” says McLaughlin, who was shocked to lose followers after he openly rooted for the Golden State Warriors during the NBA playoffs.
While Netflix has yet to make an official announcement, a third season of Stranger Things is a given, meaning the boys are all but guaranteed to live out their teenage years on one of the most popular shows on television. The Duffers, then, will have to follow in the footsteps of long-running properties like Game of Thrones and the Harry Potter franchise in making sure their child actors don’t grow up faster than their characters. “It’s terrifying,” Matt Duffer says. “I shouldn’t even be highlighting this, but if you watch Season 2, they’ve grown from Episode 1 to Episode 9. I’m terrified one of them is going to have a major growth spurt basically in the middle of shooting. But as long as they’re growing outside of the course of our shooting, I’m not too worried about it, because we just have to build it into our story. As much as you would like to keep some of it more continuous, every time we take a break between seasons, we have to make a year time jump at least.”
All four actors say that they want to remain in show business into adulthood. Wolfhard, who obsessively studies the filmmaking process while on set—he’ll star in the remake of Stephen King’s It, in theaters this month—is eyeing a multihyphenate career as a director, actor, and musician. Back at the photo shoot, Matarazzo and Schnapp gather around his iPhone to watch a video Wolfhard co-directed for a friend’s band, Spendtime Palace. Earlier this year, McLaughlin, who is a trained dancer, played a young Ricky Bell on the BET miniseries The New Edition Story, an experience he describes as “historic.” Matarazzo wants to continue acting, but not forever, and is keeping an open mind about other aspects of the industry. Schnapp, who took his first acting class at the age of six, describes winning the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series as one of the greatest moments of his life, and is doing exactly what he wants. (The boys, who describe the awards as “very heavy,” keep them in their bedrooms, except for Matarazzo, who has been meaning to retrieve his from his grandparents’ house. )
“They all love what they’re doing,” says Matt Duffer. “They love coming to set, they love working, they love acting. In terms of the fame thing, it’s a side effect that I think some of them are more into than others. You’re worried about, ‘What if they realize this isn’t their true passion?’ They’re so young. But this year those fears went away. They’re all very committed to this. That’s the important thing, that they enjoy what they’re doing. And that they’re passionate about it.”

Life can be fascinating.
Yesterday was something else.
We got Suchwita where Yoongi says "when we come back we might not be as hot..." uhhhhh.... and "we didn't do anything big" YOONGI! MY GOD! STOP BEING SO MODEST!
Tumblr media
Hoshi had to say right away "dude, you all did a lot more than that."
Yoongi said things that calmed the anxiety I have about this era of waiting for them to do their service and get back to us.
With every episode I get to know his personality more and more. He long ago totally dispelled (x1000) my very first impressions of him but these Suchwita interviews he does are so beautiful and enlightening.
And now he's on his way to Bangkok to do who knows what...
We got a trailer for Hobi's J-Hope in the Box video on demand on Weverse. I can't wait to watch this documentary. The trailer is showing some very real scenes, much more authentic, along the lines of the previous documentary movies about BTS.
Tumblr media
Yes, Hobi, life can be fascinating.
I heard this Disney+ project was a series... are we to expect a documentary like this for every member? And then perhaps a group one right before their group comeback? We don't know yet.
And lastly, as I was closing my eyes to sleep last night, this K-drama playing out in real life in Korea between two major competing entertainment corporations. Armys who have been around since the beginning... this was not on y'all's bingo card for this life time was it? If this deal sticks... the ramifications...
Tumblr media
EXO fans... how we feeling today?
I don't think the saga is anywhere near being over. Someone needs to get us some more popcorn because this is the best real life drama we've seen since that slow speed police chase of OJ Simpson's Bronco down I-5 in Los Angeles in 1994.
And to top it all off, my six WKorea magazines arrived. The package was heavy. Probably 10lbs of paper in those six magazines. That's 4.5kg. But they were absolutely gorgeous. I don't regret purchasing all six covers, they are like oversize glossy art prints of Jimin.
Tumblr media
I can't read any of it. But the pictures sure are pretty. I may sacrifice one (the close up black and white cover) so I can scan some of the inside photos to share. I will do something with the cover, frame it, display it... it's my favorite.
And I wake up and Jimin's done a live, told us his album is coming in March(!), he could take his clothes off to show us his tattoos but where's the fun in that? <bites fist> He comments about watching the most recent Suchwita and that he would like to appear on Yoongi's show (please, please, please).
Somehow, Jimin has overcome his "awkward" era while doing lives. For over an hour and a half he's chatting, being funny, making plastic flowers, singing, dancing... TO FILTER?! ... ... if Jimin does anything like what Hobi did and sings some of his previous songs... OMFG WE MIGHT FINALLY GET FILTER LIVE!!!!!!I21!!
Tumblr media
Honestly, I am expecting Jimin to have something on his upcoming album that will give Filter a run for its money as far as "shock" value.
Of course I will come back with another post after the subs are up on his live.

GMMTV 2024 (part 1) predictions
I can't believe we're here again, I had so much fun speculating and watching last year, it truly is my Superbowl lol.
This year will be way harder to predict anything as we didn't have Safe House nor any new couple, as far as I know, so this will be based on questionable rumours and vibes alone. Also this is only part one, whatever that means, so I expect we'll have fewer series announced than in other years. Aaaand there are still quite a few series from 2023 still waiting to air.
Gemini Fourth series, confirmed by them.
No Jojo series, also confirmed by him.
WinnySatang series. Reason: they have a keychain lol. This may be difficult to explain to someone who's not up to date with gmmtv shenanigans but the company recently released merch with a winnystang's logo, which usually means they are being branded as a couple.
Continuing with this, sadly no logo or merch for GawinKrist, which probably means they won't continue as a couple.
Big cast assemble featuring Off, Sea and possibly others like Gun, View, First, Dunk. Reason: they were seen together without any other explanation so maybe they were filming a trailer.
I think KhaoFirst talked about another project together.
I also heard some rumours about EarthMix and them talking about working together next year.
Two GLs. A bit generous, I know. I expected GMMTV to air 23.5 in the first half of 2023 as a test of how the public receives GLs before going for another but that didn't happen. So my guesses now are a) they don't care that much about 23.5 numbers because they're already planning on doing more GLs or b) they don't care because they don't plan to make another GL this year. I'm going for the former on faith alone and also I faintly remember a photo of Aof's office with one or two GL books which weren't 23.5.
ViewJune becoming an official couple and starring in another series together, hopefully as mains. They're already paired for Dangerous Romance and 23.5 and this happened with MilkLove so.
PondPhuwin and JoongDunk together in a series in some way. This is more of a wild guess but the fourth of them are quite good friends and had a few events together and have spoken about working together in a series. Fans love it and ask for it a lot so maybe GMMTV has seen it and decided to capitalise on it.
No Tu or Fah coming back yet, but expected to happen later in the year. I'm quite sad about this because they are some of my favourite actresses from the company.
I'm guessing it's less likely we'll have OffGun, TayNew, MilkLove or JimmySea projects as two series of them would have to air in the same year.
If we talk about rotation, the pairs that would be more likely to have a series would be GemFourth, PondPhuwin and EarthMix.
As for side pairs who could become main or official couples we have Aou Boom, Winny Satang, Ohm Fluke, Mark Ford, Mark Neo, Marc Pavin comeback. My guesses are Winny Satang, and Mark and Neo. In my opinion Mark has three possible candidates whom he could form a couple with: Neo, Ford and Nanon. Why Nanon? Mark and Nanon had a couple of events together and are really good friends, GMMTV loves that. But I pray they'll go with Neo, they had some work together and it's been a long time since he had any appearance with Ford, so it could happen.
The Enigma season 2
I expect an OhmNanon comeback TayNew style but not for one or two years, so no OhmNanon together, not even in a hetero series.
There are at least 4 hetero romance series I have not heard from yet which were announced for 2023, two with Dew, one with Win. Are they being cancelled? Gmmtv has only ever cancelled one announced series since I started watching but idk, we have a lot to go through yet, I don't know where are they going to fit. And they won't stop airing reruns on the days this type of series usually goes.
I expect another rookie series, especially seeing how well MSP did.
I'm trying to think of a hetero male or female lead but I can't come up with anything. My guess was Luke but he hasn't posted the gmmtv2024 announcement. Maybe NanonFilm again? I really have no idea.
Only two days to go!!!! I can't wait. And if I'm lucky with work I'll be able to watch it somewhat live and blog about it, so I'm even more excited.
This list is already too long so I'm thinking of doing a separate one for what I wish would happen (edit ➡ HERE)

DID YOU SEE IT 😭 there's a lot to unpack here
Of course I did! Are you kidding me? I saw this almost immediately after the release. I've been keeping an eye on the teaser photos in the last couple of weeks, but that didn't prepare me for the mv trailer. Talk of a plot twist. This is one thing I love about the marketing strategy of some kpop companies and I've noticed this with other SHINee members' projects and Sunmi as well. They put a lot of work into the promotional materials and personally, a cinematic mv teaser is right up my alley. But now it's also a bit frustrating because I want to see a feature of this. A two hour film, not just a less than 2 minute clip.
And you're right, there is a lot to unpack here. The school boys in a closed environment that chips away at their sanity is something that always intrigued me. But I'm still not sure what is going on and that's the point. My initial thought was that they were all sent to some correction center, reprogrammed for society but not to be upstanding citizens, but to inflict more harm in a controlled, systematic way. They're taught how to kill. There is a shot in which there's blood on Taemin's legs and some bodies on the ground 👀. Anyway, it obviously works with themes of oppression, control, individual vs system, and perhaps the guilt comes with having to do things to people because of forced circumstances.
The release is less than a week away and I can't wait. For me, it's Taemin's first comeback that I take an active interest in and so far I'm just really pleased to see how complex the concept is and it feeds my brain and my interests.

Hi!!! It’s me again. I hope your having a great day. As our resident BTSpedia I’m hoping you can tell me where to look cause I’ve been on YouTube and it didn’t help. Also this isn’t Jikook related.
I became army after the HYYH period. Everyone is extremely excited and I’m happy to be able to see it for myself. My confusion is why do they say it’s gay and they hope Yoonkook have a happy ending? I’ve watched what I can on YouTube to try and tie the moments and videos together, but I may be missing some things.
Do you happen to know why they call it this and where I may be able to get a full picture? Thank you!!!!
This is, in part, asking the impossible. Because you will likely get a different interpretation of the story with every person you ask. Plus there is so much and it's confusing no matter what. Lol So like everything else, it's best to dive into it all and draw your own conclusions. So I'll do a general overview of it all and then I'll get into why a lot of people, but especially the queer community, thinks it's gay. This is going to be an incredibly long post probably, so I apologize in advance lol. But I know I have a lot of baby armys on this blog too, so if yall are interested, hopefully this helps!
Tumblr media
To start, it's always important to remind people that this is fictional. None of their relationships within this storyline or the things that they've gone through/did is an accurate portrayal of their real lives. Even if some things link up (like them all loving each other lots etc) they are playing characters, characters with their own names, but characters still. If we want to relate it to real life at all, the only thing we could do is possibly have an interesting discussion over the homoromantic themes BH included in this storyline full of trauma, angst, love and friendship and why they did that. Lol the general overall theme of this storyline though seems to be that SeokJin time travels in his efforts to save the other members, from outside forces and/or from themselves. As well as the overarching themes of the importance of friendships, etc.
So basically I'm going to go ahead and start this post off with a list of the videos, notes, webtoons, etc included in the hyyh BU storyline that you would need to watch/read in to get the best understanding of the story. As well as go ahead and tell you that the pairings are worth paying attention to. Which would be yoonkook, taejoon, jihope and then Jin is our main character basically. So yes, if you were just watching the videos, you definitely missed major chunks of the storyline. Also worth noting, the storyline can contain trigger warnings for violence, mental and physical abuse, suicide, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse, homicide, and parental neglect. So just make sure you are good with all that before really digging into it.

Some extra context, for the Testesso Smeraldo flower shop blog, this was started and found by ARMY after Seokjin tweeted out a photo with Smeraldo Flowers a couple days before the Love Yourself Era was introduced in 2017. It's a naver blog that is run by the owner of the fictional smeraldo flower shop that Jin encounters in the storyline. The blog basically describes the history of the flower leading up to the shops opening. None of the BU characters are named in the blog, but there are lots of hints pointing towards Seokjin being the customer that is described in multiple posts. The blog also has only been active and updating recently whenever BTS is having a comeback and starting a new era. The mentioned dates of the flower shop alleged openings have always been at the same time as BTS ends up announcing for their comeback. And the Smeraldo Books Twitter account was first opened with the introduction of the Save Me Webtoon Tweet. And has since posted notes for books 1 and 2, which contained all previous notes as well as unseen and updated ones too. And something to keep in mind as you read the notes too, each album seems to be a new timeline taking place and time leaps happening. So pay attention to the dates at the top of each of the notes.
Tumblr media
There are many many many theories out there over wtf is even happening in this storyline. But there are a few key plot points that are "canon" and the theories are built around those. Basically the story starts with the boys all meeting and becoming friends in high-school, in the fictional world year 19. We see them meet in BTS Begins VCR, they got in trouble for being late and punished by needing to clean up an old storage classroom. They ended up becoming friends and using this classroom as a hideout and that is the start of the story. They fall apart a bit as adults.
A really good general story overview and theory of the storyline is done by Xceleste, which you can watch here if you want too
youtube
So since Celeste does a good job at talking about overall story plots and theories as well as pointing out things that are confirmed facts, etc. I'll just assume we all understand what's happening in the story and just talk about what things made some people think it's gay. In particular with yoonkook. Yoongi in the BU has some pretty severe attachment issues stemming from trauma. He does not want to be emotionally attached to anyone again. We see this in the notes when he is watching JK cry while playing the paino. JK himself having issues with fear of abandonment, self harm and suicide attempts (or successes depending on what timeline you are in). JK wanted someone to love him throughout his life while Yoongi was afraid of loving someone. He thought he wouldn't be able to protect Jungkook.
"I didn't want to be important for someone. I wasn't sure I could protect that someone till the end. I wasn't confident I could stand by that someone till the end. I didn't want to hurt that someone. I didn't want to get hurt" - Yoongi, The Notes, after finding JK playing the piano.
They often ended up meeting in this storage room to play piano and create music. Yoongi sharing that part of himself with JK. Despite him not wanting to care, it's clear he does when he steps in to protect JK from a teacher when they get caught in the storage room. Yoongi ends up expelled from the school and disappears. Yoonkook don't see each other again for like another 2 years. When I say this is angsty and traumatic 😭 its giving first love you never get over vibes
Tumblr media
Begin short film had many things burning (which is a Yoongi connection), it starts off with JK calling Hyung and has him holding a painted portrait of Yoongi as well. In Yoongis First Love short film, we see him break into a shop to play the piano again for the first time in a long time, since giving up music after he got expelled. The piano ends up burning.. In the notes, Yoongi hears his song and runs finding JK who had broken into the shop to play the piano. Them meeting again for the first time in 2 years. We see the car speed past Yoongi in First Love, and in the notes we know that it's JK playing the piano he heard before the car almost hits him in an alternate timeline.
From the Save Me Webtoon, we can assume that this meeting again after he finds JK at the piano didn't go well. Yoongi rejects JK, telling him to just go. Which ended up with Yoongi in bed alone, horribly sad and running his hand over the empty spot in bed next to him. Missing someone. Missing JK? JKs shirt is also left with Yoongi in the motel room. And in making films, Yoongi talks about how for acting in this scene, he is sad from a break up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In other timelines both yoonkook have attempted (and in the failed timelines, they succeed) suicides. Yoongi tries to commit suicide by fire, similar to his mother. After multiple attempts to save him, Seokjin realizes that just like Yoongi was the only one who could save Jungkook from jumping off the roof, JK is the only one who can save Yoongi.
"My last sight of this world was this dirty, isolated room, the red-hot flames and rolling heat, and JK's twisted face." - Yoongi, the notes, after he sets fire to his room and JK saves him
In the highlight reels after JKs car accident, he seems to make a friend to help him through his recovery in another girl at the hospital, but thinks of Yoongi often. Yoongi seems to have tried moving on, but not very well. He is either in a relationship with or good friends with another girl, but never seems super happy there. His breaking point being when he got a text about JK being in an accident but couldn't bring himself to go into his hospital room. Hoesok even bringing up that he should go see JK, "don't you know what you mean to him?" Being the exact quote he used that we see in the notes. Yoongi struggling to go see him because he felt that anyone close to him was bound to be hurt. When the girl Yoongi was with ends up playing at the hospital, JK recognized the music as the song he used to play with Yoongi in the storage room, and his lighter with Yoongi's initials hanging on her guitar. All his flashbacks were the softest scenes, honestly. And JK seemed to think of them so fondly. And in the behind the scenes that was filmed for those flashbacks, they were very awkward talking about the scenes they filmed and kept reiterating that it's not them in real life. Lmao which really lends to the theory they were playing boyfriends and knew the romantic undertones in these scenes playing out and what it looked like. "Complaining that they had to act like good friends" yes editors, "good friends." 🤣😅 The clip here:
Tumblr media
Essentially with yoonkook, it was a lot of moments interlaced within their story and the way they talked to each other/about each other that really made it clear they were VERY important to each other, more so than the relationships they had within the group setting, which those were clearly important enough to time travel for. Lol the way their story interconnects in so many little ways with romantic undertones through all the interactions. A lot of people theorized that the piano in some ways represented JK in this storyline for Yoongi, making JK his first love as well along with music. The piano played when JK is around and stopped when he got into his accident. Yoongi getting up early with JK at the sea before everyone else to sit with arms around each other, smiling and gazing out to sea. JK giving Yoongi flowers in the Euphoria timeline video. They fight in Run over Yoongi breaking a promise to JK, theorized that the promise was to live. Resulting in Yoongi smashing a mirror with Blue Roses in its reflection, which is a flower that symbolizes unattainable love.
Tumblr media
This is already insanely long, the main or most obvious "couple" in the BU was clearly yoonkook, but I think that there is a good argument to be made that Jihope and TaeJoon were also or had the potential to be more than just friends. Yoonkook is canon though, argue with the wall 😂
In high-school, Hoseok would walk Jimin home all the time, even though it was a really long way out of his way. They would dance together. We see videos of Jimin filming Hobi with the fondest smile on his face while he dances. He filmed Hobis dance partner too, which we learn is because Jimin wanted to be the perfect dance partner for Hoseok one day. Hoseok was also the one who took Jimin to the hospital the first time after his seizure before they didn't see each other again for 2 years. When they were both in the hospital, Hoseok slipped on the stairs and Jimin saves him. In both their short story films (Lie and Mama) we see similar situations and connections between the hospitals. We see Jimin continually look to the bed next to him, where Hoseok used to be, missing him. We see in Euphoria how Hoseok brings everyone together to help encourage Jimin to leave with them, to save Jimin from himself. Taking Jimin back home to stay at his house too. We even get in the behind the scenes for some of this footage of them in the hospital, when pretending to be in character during the scene where Jimin saves Jhope on the stairs, he calls Jhope "honey."
Tumblr media
Plus we are getting quotes like during Hoseoks efforts to help Jimin in the hospital and help him escape.
"He reached for my hand..."
"Jimin, I'll come back for you"
"Hoseok said he would carry you on his back if he could"
And while Hoseok was watching Jimin dancing, he said "mistakes I saw during the practice approached me differently now. The small mistakes and amateurishness actually gave a unique wave. Jimin was different from me but he had his own timing, his own style of expressing. Jimin was shining and dancing in a way that moves people's hearts."
I'm just saying, they were very "I love you, let's live for each other" type of vibes.
Tumblr media
Hyyh TaeJoon were basically the "be gay do crime" definition. Lol the tension in that loaded look between them as they got arrested. Like WOW okay. Plus, when Tae needed help, Namjoon was the first and only person he called. And always continues to think to call him first whenever he is in trouble. Literally placing all his faith and trust into Namjoon for a lot of things. Tae seemed to be one of the first to split off on his own. He found a new criminal friend, Namjoon seemed to have an interest in another girl for a while, but a lot seemed to stem from finding similarities of himself in her. They reconnected again in jail or in regards to being arrested (be gay do crime) later in the various timelines and quickly seem to be close again. We see similarities in their short Films as well, with the phone connections. Things or places or themselves being locked up/unreachable. We also see a lot of mirrored images through the MVs of moments that Taejoon were in together, to Tae being in alone. Alluding to feelings of lose and loneliness as well. Always again, saving each other. Looking out for each other, spending time together.
And we get quotes like this from Namjoon about Tae:
"And I asked myself: Do I believe Taehyung? And the answer was always the same."
"I feel like I'm losing my mind whenever I see him smile like that"
And from Tae about Namjoon:
"Can I stay here with you?"
"He held out his hand. I just kept looking up at him. His hand was warm."
Tumblr media
Plus then we have the behinds where they say the scene they are filming is romantic and they are on a date, with Joon laying on Tae's arm 😅😂 idk what else to say about that. Lmfao
Basically HYYH BU is angsty trauma filled depression, queer youth found family with pillow fights, all the elements, and lots of flannel. And trauma. Trauma should be in this list 8 times. So much yearning and angst and hurt and trauma 😭 and now with Yet to Come being tagged "the most beautiful moment in life" aka HYYH, people are speculating that maybe we will finally get a conclusion to the BU storyline and everyone just wants a happy ending please. Lol there is honestly a lot more we could dig into to talk about symbolism and different motifs used. And all the potential queer coding happening, intentional or accidental. I know I definitely focused mostly on yoonkook here, but they really had the most going on. Like for real and the most angsty yearning codependency while being avoidant tendencies. Lol
Again, this is ALL FICTIONAL. THEY ARE ACTING AND PLAYING CHARACTERS. Lol please don't take any of this and translate it into real life relationships or scenarios. And again, this is mostly all theory too. So you can also go through and read all the stories (the notes books are still available for purchase on weverse) and decide for yourself what you think is happening. And it's okay to be confused. I'm still a little confused honestly too. Lol thanks for the ask. Sorry this is a whole ass essay and it took me so long! 💜

hello~
as promised, today I'm posting some of the theories related to skz lore
another achtung, this is my opinion and just assumptions based on information from different sources :з
and sorry for the mistakes <3
At the moment this is the last part of my thoughts about the new trailer. Well, at least those that I was able to put together into something unified and understandable. This time, finally, let's talk about the lore of the skz, about their "personalities" and what I suppose all this could mean for the continuation of the story.
So, we have already discussed what is shown in individual scenes and talked about references to albums. And, again, despite the fact that I have determined each of them as specific album, I cannot deny references to their other clips and comebacks. I also noted them in the first post with theories. But what does this mean for the history of the skz? There have been suggestions that this is a restart of their universe. I saw an interesting theory that this comeback is for fixing of past mistakes. And you know, these theories are INCREDIBLY interesting. Anyways I really think that this is still not a restart, but a continuation of the story.
So, what is the essence of the story, and what exactly are we continuing. Probably, you all have different knowledge of the lore of the band, as, in fact, I do, because for the most part these are all theories that have not been officially confirmed. Of course, we have all sorts of trailers like exclusive jype videos (well, like a prequel, etc.) and making film videos, thanks to which, thank God, we can find out at least some details. (As an example, a movie club drama, if there weren't making film, we wouldn't know that Seungmin and Jeongin had a fight, and Han was the cause of the accident with Lee Know, but we got distracted), but still most of the story remains for self-understending.
Crawling through YouTube, tumbler and tweeter, I came across a theory about time substitution (I didn't remember the word to describe it, if there is someone who can let me know, I will be glad ~). The theory was that the events shown in Maxident occur before the events shown in Oddinary. At the end of the Maxident, we see a kind of crime scene in which there are references to the scenes of the boys in the trailer. However, only to six. Who do you think is missing? Exactly, Felix and Jeongin.
Tumblr media
To begin with, there are few arguments in favor of the fact that these two eras took place in the same universe.
Changbin's hand, in Oddinary he was the one who held a sign with the inscription "Free Hugs".
Tumblr media
Of course, EVERYONE was talking about Hyunjin's apple (and if not, then yes).
Tumblr media
Minho plays with a car toy and knocks down tin cans, the same he hits with a golf stick in Oddinary, almost blowing off the head of Lix.
Tumblr media
Seungmin takes pictures with a bear in Maxident, in Oddinary he is a photographer, hands Felix a cake with his child's photo (children love soft toys and ride bicycles).
Tumblr media
In the trailer itself there are spoilers to the Maxident: the time on the electronic clock is 14:03, on the mechanical 10:07 (the release date of the case).
Tumblr media
But if we return to the theory that these events occur after, then this is not a spoiler, but a flashback or a hint. Something happened in Maxident that caused the skz to be replaced by their "evil" copies or personalities. (Honestly, there are so many different opinions about clones, but let's be honest, the only escaped clone we've seen is Jeongin. Yes, there were others in the Astronaut, but they remained in that world and did not even react to Hyunjin who came to them. In addition, I am more inclined to believe that these were not clones at all, but still their personalities from another world. And the only clone is, again, Iennie, who appeared back in the era of I am not music in the trailer). Let's return to the substitution for "evil" personalities. Do you remember "Felix never bad"? He is the only one who was not affected by what happened in Maxident (and even if we do not know what is this, it could be some kind of consequences of the battle with the Sound Monster from Noeasy. By the way, who was this monster? What if Lix from another universe, because the force with which "our" Felix repelled the attack is extremely similar to the attack itself... That could explain, why it didn't work on him). A little adjustment, the only one of the "real" skz. The second, whose traces are not at the crime scene, is Jeongin, the presumable culprit of what happened to the boys.
In Oddinary's trailers, we see Felix walking around looking for his friends.
Tumblr media
He holds the lock in his hands all the time and constantly opens and closes it. It seems to me that the lock symbolizes their's era of that time. Before that, they had "Cle" = keys, finished it and got into a new world, they opened all the locks, each with their own key (there was also a long way, loss of keys, etc. but in the end, probably, they were all found and found their locks). And this gesture of opening and closing is a kind of sign that Felix no longer knows in which world he should look for friends. In the present, they are missing, and perhaps he is talking about going back and looking for them there. But, fortunately or unfortunately, he finds Oddinary, in which he meets the "evil" entities of his friends. Here we return again to the importance of color theory in lore. In Thunderous, we were shown that evil is red, and good (aka skz) is blue. And if you look, you will notice that Felix in Oddinary is represented in blue tones, while the rest of the guys are in red, which indicates their evil nature now. And, again, everyone except Jeongin. He is in the trailer in blue tones, the scene turns red when he enters the "territory" of Seungmin. It turns out that he did not change his character, he is "himself". Or rather, his probably evil copy initially. The others have lost their memories of their real selves, but not Jeongin, because he is already an "evil double", so his colors are different from the others.
Tumblr media
At the end of the trailer, Hyunjin pushes Felix and he joins the "evil" personalities, becoming the same. In the new trailer for "5 star", he is the most inadequate, crazy Joker, "conductor", because he directs the group in the right direction (is it really right? quite possibly).
At the end of Oddinary's trailer, the lock, which I assume is a way of moving through the worlds, breaks, which entails the destruction of the boundary between the worlds. Therefore, in the new trailer, all past comebacks are represented by references, so the personalities of romantics and villains are mixed, which is why it is so chaotic and ambiguous. The worlds that were previously beyond a clear boundary are now mixed up, mixing the personalities of the boys. At the end of the 5-star trailer, they walk along the side of the building, buildings located perpendicular to the screen are visible in the distance. Either this is a new world formed because of everything that happened, or it is a "chaos" born because of the erased boundary between the former "lower" and "upper" worlds. And, perhaps, they will in some sense encounter their other personalities.
Tumblr media
Thus, in a sense, they now really have the opportunity to "fix" those mistakes that they made on the way. Perhaps this is what Felix wanted, if it really happens in the end? And maybe they'll finally find the real I.N and bring him back to the family? BANG CHAN YOU'VE LOST YOUR BABY HELLO!
Thats all for now~
Maybe i will post some details about Felix as a possible Sound monster c:

Sooo, thoughts on Mortal Kombat 1 ?
@jcogginsa asked: You've said Peacemaker is the DC character who fits most in Mortal Kombat, but of the three leaked guest fighters for MK1, who do you think fits it best?
Tumblr media
Okay, new Mortal Kombat thoughts then
Well with this and Tekken 8 I guess it didn't take long for Street Fighter to spearhead another fighting game comeback. But while Tekken 8's more on the "basically the same as it always was except there's a graphical update", Mortal Kombat is kicking things off with a, Story Mode-centric showcase with a tiny gore montage and no gameplay. Fairly unusual territory for the series, but it seems to be paying off for them in viewcount.
I'm really not a fan of how anyone looks here, though. What you see in the trailer is the fairly logical endpoint of the MK series increasingly striving for more realism and fixing little design issues like, uuh, a majority asian cast of characters who never even slightly looked asian until some 20+ fucking years into the series, y'know. And for sure the faces look great, but I do feel like we're getting those great faces and expressions at the expense of everything else in their designs becoming increasingly colorless. Like Scorpion and Sub-Zero or Kitana and Mileena, who somehow look more like palette swaps than theyve done in decades.
It's not the only issue I have with this trend but, look the clothes and the lighting and the visuals look very pretty, but this is maybe the most swagless most of these characters have ever looked and that's a capital sin. So far, they look like half-a-step removed from A.I prompt recreations of themselves, which is the harshest thing I could say about it. It's too generic.
And man I'm, reeeally not liking the Fatalities here, I feel like that's the biggest issue with the franchise moving so firmly into 3D realism, the Fatalities just plain aren't that fun anymore most of the time. Sorry to MK fans following me but I will have to be the christian parent finger-wagging at the screen and say that they actually should tone it waay the fuck down because they lost the plot that this is Mortal Kombat, not fucking Liveleak, and plenty of modern games can pull off absurd cool pop-off gore without putting us through characters writhing and screaming and gurgling in pain during rancid torture.
And no, we can't chalk this up to personal taste anymore ever since that story about MK11 devs developing PTSD because they had to look up nonstop hanging/murder/animal torture videos and photos to get the gore right, which is frankly as good an argument as any for throwing Mortal Kombat in the trash and not letting it come out until they cut that shit out for good and overhaul their entire approach to game design and tone, which they clearly have not done and will not do. It's fucked and NRS deserves way more shit for it than their playerbase is willing to give them.
Moving on, so this is like, what, the second or third reboot? I guess it's more so them following on the clean slate Aftermath was setting up but, damn these guys really do love DC Comics and the increasingly short periods between rebooting the whole thing to dodge narrative problems and only coming back to those same problems again and again.
Tumblr media
On the more individual character basis: Raiden looks Japanese finally, and I guess the scaling down makes sense since he's not a god anymore. Kung Lao, eh. Kitana, looks way worse than she did in MK11 (maybe I'm biased because that was like, the one time I liked how Kitana looks) and if this is a timeline reset, are they gonna undo her as Khan of Outworld? Fucking boo if they do, that was the best thing they did with her, they are cowards for walking that back if they do.
Kitana looking boring unfortunately also means Mileena isn't looking great either, although I do like the viciousness in her eyes, I like that her alignment's pretty unclear from the trailer, and I like that they're keeping the teeth from 11.
Scorpion and Sub-Zero look way too basic, and although I'm not against their increasing focus on Scorpion looking more human, I just don't like that this is making him look less Scorpion than before, he looks like a disposable Shirai Ryu grunt that reports to Scorpion before getting killed in a pre-fight cutscene.
Shang Tsung as the villain again is a fairly allright idea (if slightly redundant given Aftermath) and of course necessary if they're taking this back to the beginning, I don't mind his design (the claw gauntlets are pretty good) but I do mind that he looks less like Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa than before. I hope to be wrong here in this assumption but If they're not bringing Tagawa to voice him, if they're not basing him off Tagawa's characterization like they did for 11, why bother with Shang Tsung at all? Tagawa's performance is like 80% of Shang Tsung's entire appeal.
Tumblr media
I do really like Liu Kang's look though, it's a very nice, very pleasing blend of his classic ensemble with enough Raiden elements to show his new role. Is this the first time they've ever featured Liu Kang front-and-center in the ads and posters for a new MK game? Sure feels like it. Apparently one of the head writers remarked "People, Realms, Rivalries: Liu Kang has tinkered with all to achieve his vision", which is nearly always code for Bad Guy Talk. Too early to call it but, I guess it was inevitable, and if we're really doing Evil Liu Kang for the third time this is already a better baseline than the prior two takes. I don't like his face though, I really liked his MK11 face and this feels like a total downgrade (where's the eyebrows? his eyes are totally different, he looks like the doctor from that wretched surgeon meme and it makes me hate him on sight)
So far, I do really like that the trailer sticks entirely to fantasyland kung fu film vibe. The last two games were stuffed to the gills with Earthrealm military horseshit where as this feels like it's making a point of avoiding that, no gun-toting Americans in sight thankfully. Johnny Cage has been confirmed but, he can stay, he's cool. Speaking of that, Van Damne Johnny Cage, cool I guess? I don't care about Van Damne but, if they're getting action movie celebrities to be in these, getting Van Damne specifically feels like bringing things full-circle a little.
Tumblr media
Kameo Fighters? Oh so we're doing Smash Bros Character Reveals now? That's gonna be a fun powderkeg to just throw out there, lmao, I hope they reveal these slowly to really make the fandom spaces unusable. I guess they put Mileena upfront to avoid the worst as is. I do like Assist Characters in the VS series, I guess this is gonna be like that so, cool with me even if they wind up shelfing characters I actually want like D'Vorah and Kano.
(SPOILERS FOR THE LEAKED CHARACTERS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THOSE): Quan Chi, eh okay they were bound to bring him back sooner rather than later, so long as he's not making Shang Tsung chump out I'm okay with it. Takeda, fine. Mavado, don't give a shit. Ferra, without Torr, okay let's see how that goes.
And of course the ones everybody's talking about, Homelander and Omni-Man, who seem extremely redundant to feature together given they have basically the exact same powerset, but I can't fault NRS for jumping on the popularity of that match-up and they have Injustice Superman assets to share between the two. Homelander, couldn't care less but sure, put the meme guy in there, he fits. Omni-Man, I've been dancing around watching Invincible for months now but yeah, cool, he's pretty damn great, seems like the only fighting game you could possibly put him in, and most importantly it means J.K Simmons is joining the voice cast, which I'm of course super excited for.
Personal stand-outs for me are Tremor, who's pretty cool. Khameleon, whose design I actually like quite a bit and who I never thought would show up again, totally on board for her. Ermac, who is one of my favorite designs and who I really enjoy playing as, but the designs so far have been really underwhelming so, not sure what they're gonna do with him.
Oh yeah, PEACEMAKER's joining the roster? Never actually thought I'd happen but I'm gonna do a victory lap anyway because I fucking called it a year ago that he was the most perfect choice in the world for Mortal Kombat. Okay scratch what I said prior, in this house we allow for ONE gun-toting American in the game. And sure maybe I'm biased, but I definitely think he fits the most within Mortal Kombat, if nothing else, because Peacemaker is the one you can actually imagine pulling off a Friendship or uppercutting the same guy's head off three times, he's the only one who feels conductive to the MK series sense of humor. Omni-Man's I imagine is a very close second, being famous for pulling off Mortal Kombat fatalities in a series where that is, at least initially when it operates by seemingly standard superhero rules, uncharacteristically frightening and sadistic violence for anyone to do.
Overall: Glad that they're making an effort to push Mortal Kombat to new places, there's plenty of cool choices or ideas set up here, but there's a lot that I dislike or am ambivalent to, a lot that I wish they were doing differently, and of course the concern of "how much are the devs having to put up with this time around given these Fatalities look somehow way worse than the ones from 11" that is frankly kind of a dealbreaker for me in terms of me getting or supporting this game. I guess it's "it is what it is", but that's a shit excuse and it could, y'know, not be what it is.
