»Erwachsenwerden« | Charlene Jägers, Tutor Tomaso Carnetto
The poster is part of a project by our design student Charlene Jägers. Based upon Jeffrey Arnett's study »emerging adulthood«, Charlene has creatively dealt with the meaning of the term adulthood. The poster describes the different stages a young person passes when transitioning to adulthood. »The composition was originally created from ripping a sunflower out of the ground (that was the starting point). I then visually deconstructed the process and the object and connected it to my own feelings.«

Poster Design Challenge - Helvetica Series July 7 2022 Helvetica isn't original—it's based on an 1896 typeface called Akzidenz-Grotesk (known as Standard in the US), which was popular in Switzerland in the early 20th century. The 'Helvetica' name was given to the typeface in 1960 to make it easier to sell abroad (it was originally named Neue Haas Grotesk). What Is Helvetica? Helvetica is a ‘Grotesque’ sans serif typeface. It was created in the 1950s to meet the demand for sans serif typefaces in the tradition of the International Style of graphic design. Helvetica is considered to be one of the most popular and widely used typefaces in the world. Helvetica: Quick Facts Helvetica isn’t original—it’s based on an 1896 typeface called Akzidenz-Grotesk (known as Standard in the US), which was popular in Switzerland in the early 20th century. The ‘Helvetica’ name was given to the typeface in 1960 to make it easier to sell abroad (it was originally named Neue Haas Grotesk). ‘Helvetica’ means ‘Swiss’ in Latin, in homage to its country of origin. Helvetica is meant to be boring—its designers were striving for a neutral and versatile design that lacked personality. Who Created Helvetica? In the mid-1950s, Eduard Hoffmann, the President of the Haas type foundry in Switzerland, was worried. Sales of their sans serif ‘grotesk’ typefaces were falling, and it was clear that the foundry’s classic designs were struggling to compete with their competitors’ offerings, such as the Berthold type foundry’s Akzidenz-Grotesk typeface. Hoffmann spotted an opportunity to create a typeface in the tradition of the emerging International Style of design. He commissioned former Haas salesman and designer, Max Miedinger, to design a new Grotesk typeface. This is my favorite typeface by far! HAPPY FRIDAY! Today we are testing … FRESH - BUT FROZEN … THE YELLOW CURRY CUBE ❤️❄️🤌
Since it is the #vegetable cleaning, cutting, cooking and spicing up of the #sauce that takes most of the time, It is quite logical, that there must have been developed this product.
When preparing a steak, chicken, fish or #veggies with #currysauce, the sauce ist the elaborate part of the game. Or rather, it was the elaborate part, now it is the quick and easy part 🤌

Anatomy of visual messages
There are 3 levels for us to express and receive visual messages: representationally, symbolically, and abstractly. Representation is about objects in real life. We can see or experience something. Symbolism helps express some meaning or message. Abstraction is about simplification. We express specific meanings by basic visual elements.
After understanding the 3 levels of how to present visual messages, we had some little practice. Drawing a cat in 1 minute is easy. How about drawing in 30 seconds? Barely. When I tried to finish it in 5 seconds, the cat looks so funny. This quick drawing shows how we simplified and symbolized an object.
We also listened to a song. I felt worried, anxious, mysterious, and gloomy when listening to it. Music is abstract but we can feel some emotion in it, which is similar to art.
The anatomy of visual messages is interesting and I want to know more about it!!
