Dean suggested it as a joke.

But, once Dean left the room, Sam and Eileen looked at each other and smiled.

That was why, on his wedding day, Sam wore the word's most ridiculous skirt as he walked down the aisle. 

His top half was a regular suit, black with a green tie, but his bottom half was a full-length tulle skirt with a long train. It was white with green accents and Sam had to kick his feet as he walked to avoid tripping over it. Progress was slow and the bagpiper player turned red as he played Here Comes the Bride over and over.

Thankfully, Claire and Jack had worked together to braid Sam's hair to keep his hair out of his face. He had one less thing to worry about as he plodded between the pews. Dean made a bunch of comments about the twists at his temples but, just before they left for the ceremony, Dean had tears in his eyes when he said he was proud of Sam. 

Sam rocked the look. 

Eileen stood at the altar, back turned. Her emerald green suit fit her perfectly. The gold accents shimmered under the light, casting her in an ethereal glow. Her hair was slicked back from her face and drawn into a bun at the base of her neck. Sam couldn't stop smiling when he noticed the knife hanging on her belt. It was her favourite one, made of silver and etched with protective runes. Sam stopped in his tracks. He loved that woman.

He was going to marry that woman.

Sam couldn't move. This was Eileen, the woman he loved. He never thought he'd have the chance to fall in love again, let alone get married. He never thought he'd let someone into his heart once more. He never thought he'd be this happy. 

Dean hurried into the aisle and linked his elbow with Sam's, then nodded to Cas, who walked behind Sam and held the skirt train. Together, they reached their destination. 

Eileen turned around.

She was the sun and the moon, the stars and the sky. Everything around Sam faded away at the sight of that smile.

He didn't process much of the ceremony. He knew people were talking. He knew the priest said a bunch of things. He knew his family laughed and cried all around him. That was only background noise. He spent most of the time signing to Eileen, hands shaking, about how much he loved her.

When the priest announced it was time for a kiss, Sam didn't notice. Eileen did. She grinned, a delighted look in her eyes, and rest a palm on Sam's back. She dipped him low, her strong arms supporting him, and kissed the groom. 

The crowd cheered at that but not nearly as loudly as when the new couple were announced as Mrs. and Mr. Eileen Leahy.
