#endos aren’t valid

I saw a post somewhere once posted by a pro-endo where they said endo systems '''paved the way''' for CDD system acceptance.
First of all, what acceptance LMAO. Like be so fr, it's still a heavily stigmatized disorder, and I have not known a single singlet who isn't weird about being a system. It's either "oh, can I ask x to front?" or "is it like the movie split" [all the people around me are singlets and not, idk, chronically online like most endos].
Second of all, endos have NO place 'paving the way' for CDD systems. CDD systems should be allowed to pave the path for THEIR acceptance. Like? Duh, no shit. You don't have the disorder so you don't SPEAK OVER US.
On top of that, I have such a fucking issue with Endos using the term 'system'. Like I know you can't language police others, but the term system was A MEDICAL TERM. IT IS A MEDICAL TERM. It's not something Endos should even fucking use for that reason alone
Endo systems only paved the way for stuff like this to be even more demonized and have no resources because of things like this.
Endos aren’t shit. They cause so much more harm than good and don’t do anything to help anyone.
Endos and pro-endos are so… ew.

Not-so-friendly reminder that endogenic systems are not and never will be valid! You either have OSDDID or you don’t! Our disorders and traumas are NOT your aesthetic. Get a life.

'When actual evidence is thrown around, the anti-endo side usually has actual research and studies attached.'
okay so you wouldn't mind sharing that, then? since you're so confident that it exists
and no, the theory of structural dissociation (which says nothing about non-traumagenic systems at all), the DSM-V (which contradicts what you claim) and some anti-endo's carrd with a bunch of nonsense from other anti-endos doesn't count
aww. does wittle baby endo roleplay bitch get upset when someone points out that their roleplay shit is stupid? get out of my ask box, fucking roleplay nonsense drama shit

Today I want to talk about alter roles, doubles, and how to properly interact with introjects, as an introject
In case you need to hear it, you don’t need to give a shit about roles. You aren’t required to assign all your headmates. You aren’t required to micromanage your system.
Does it work for some systems? Sure! But it doesn’t for everyone, but a lot of spaces kinda put pressure onto people that they need to have roles. It’s okay to just let alters exist. To let the system simply exist.
Doubles
THEY ARE NOT REAL. The very term implies introjects are their source, and they are not and never will be, no matter how connected to source they might be. The term itself sounds like something taken out of roleplaying groups; you may see rules like “no doubles of Katniss Evergreen” in Hunger Games roleplay servers or something.
We (my system) have seen the term double used primarily by endos and IRLS and their supporters, leading me to believe that this is indeed simply a roleplaying term.
Say that you have an introject of Mike Wazowski, and you join a server and someone else has an introject of Mike Wazowski. These two Mike Wazowskis are NOT the same. They will NEVER be the same. Not even if they share source memories will they be the same.
How to properly interact with “sourcemates” as an introject
Recently in a server we are in, our Cazador Szarr (bg3) interacted with members when this new member’s introject of Astarion said to him the following.
Tumblr media
This is a prime example of how to not speak to people. Caz was talking to someone else in the server about something, not to this person. They took it upon themselves to treat him as if he was someone they know, as if he is his source.
Upon first joining the server, they were told that there are Cazador introjects there. Their reponse was “I don’t like that.”
If you as an introject cannot separate source to the point you treat strangers as if they themselves are the people that caused you problems, then you should not be on discord. You should be in therapy.
If you are not comfortable with a particular person, leave the chat. This person wasn’t even actively involved in the conversation when Cazador said that message. They saw him, and then tried to start shit.
Fuck you if you treat strangers like this. INTROJECTS ARE NOT THEIR SOURCE

You're truly an ableist is you're anti-endo.
this is the stupidest hate ask i’ve ever received. endogenic multiplicity isn’t a disorder, remember? you don’t face systemic oppression, you don’t have a government that wants you to die for being “endogenic” and refuses to help you in any way except maybe forcing you to live in poverty if they do. you don’t have to fear losing a job for showing symptoms of having trauma, whether they know it’s from did or fucking not.
you don’t have to deal with the horrific physical symptoms that come with trauma. horrible digestive issues, nausea, cramps, tactile hallucinations, headaches that make you cry.
you don’t have to deal with entire weeks of your life where you want to do nothing but lose your shit and disappear and feel severe pain because of how debilitating the REAL LIFE TRAUMA you’ve experienced has been.
you’re truly an ableist if you think your larp is worth trying to delegitimize an entire trauma disorder, remove it from the dsm, portray yourselves as the “healthy” version of it, and harass random trauma survivors. also, it’s if, dipshit.
shouldn’t you be yelling at your mom about how she’s abusing you for telling you you can’t have ice cream for dinner or something right now? lmao, get a fucking life. i’m so sorry you’re offended that neither i nor anyone else gives a single shit about your stupid fucking playground larp, and if they act like they do, they’re fucking pretending.
your little fake cliquey friendshits that pretend they care about your dumbass little larp? the ones that might even do it, too? they’d drop you at the fucking tip of a hat, especially if your views didn’t fit theirs perfectly.
you’re going to realize soon enough that all you’re doing with this stupid bullshit is annoying and hurting the fuck out of people who have actual problems and hurting yourself in turn. have a fun time getting reality checked, flat brainer. tough shit.

survivors of abuse, you’re valid now matter who knows your story
you’re valid if you don’t know your story
you’re valid if your headmates know your story, but you don’t/only know parts (for systems)
you’re valid if other people seem to know your story, but you don’t/only know parts
you’re valid if you only know parts of your story
you’re valid if you’re the only one who knows your story
you’re valid if the only other people who know your story is your abuser(s)
you’re valid if you thought you knew your story, but are slowly discovering more
you’re valid if you know you know your story but keep quiet about it
you’re valid if you know your story but only tell a few people
you’re valid if you openly share your story, or if you go out of your way to share your story
you’re valid if you don’t have any support and aren’t seeking it
you’re valid if you don’t have support and are seeking it
you’re valid if you do have support
you are valid, everyone heals at a different pace

another labels post but different from my other one. this one’s about syscourse labels, and getting caught up in them.
i have met people from all sides of syscourse with a variety of beliefs, even within a group. i don’t wanna say labels aren’t helpful; they can get something across generally to others without having to write a whole essay about your beliefs. but they can leave less room for nuance to some.
don’t assume a single syscourse label can tell you all you need to know about a person. it can’t. humans are complex and so are beliefs. the real world reflects these shades of gray more than what we see online.
i have seen pro-endos become anti-endo. i have seen anti-endos become pro-endo. sometimes, these changes are more about trauma or hate than one’s beliefs. it is totally fair to use a syscourse label because of trauma, but just because you’ve been hurt by that community doesn’t mean your community hasn’t also done things to harm people. that doesn’t mean you are like those who have hurt others. but you have to understand there are people on the other side who do all they can to avoid harm and misinformation.
that’s i think the big issue here. why do we believe what we believe? how do we reduce harm, hate, harassment, minsinformation (on BOTH SIDES. don’t pretend being on one side of syscourse vs. the other makes you immune to misinfo. it absolutely does not. check sources, do research)? are we hating something for the sake of hating something, or are there logical reasons for our beliefs?
regardless of the reasons for our beliefs, what are we doing to not encourage hate? you can have very valid reasons for disliking a group. but that does not mean you can go around being hateful to them - this applies to more than just syscourse. someone’s opinions do not warrant harassment or bigotry. people you consider bad deserve basic human dignity too.

Dealing with Denial 101
We’ve gotten a few asks about dealing with denial as a system, so we wanted to put together a post that we can reference in the future.
Denial, imposter syndrome, and fear of faking are all incredibly common system experiences. Unfortunately, when dealing with something that is so heavily stigmatized and not well understood among the public, these issues come all to easily. Just because you experience these things does not mean you aren’t a system, however! Here’s some things to remember that may help with dealing with feelings of denial:
1. Every system is unique!
You do no favors for yourself, your system, or others by comparing your experiences to those of other systems. An endogenic system’s experience is going to look entirely different from a system with a dissociative disorder, and even within certain origins there is so much diversity! There is no need to deny your system due to having unique experiences. There’s a lot that brings us together as systems, it’s true, but there’s also so much that sets us apart from each other and makes us different and unique! Take pride in this fact and don’t use it as an excuse to deny your system.
2. Created/spontaneous systems are valid!
If you find yourself wanting to deny your system on grounds of being endogenic, feeling like endogenic systems can’t exist and therefore your system can’t exist, we’d like to reassure you that that couldn’t be farther from the truth! Endogenic systems are and have always been an important part of the plural community. Your experiences as an endo system might be totally different from the experiences of a CDD system, but that’s okay! And it doesn’t mean that either of you are inherently faking your experience with plurality.
3. Comorbidities can (and do) happen!
It is possible to be a system (whether disordered or nondisordered) and deal with a myriad of mental illnesses. You can be a system and still have personality disorders, anxiety disorders, developmental disorders or any other sort of mental disorder. The only exception to this would be, you probably can’t have DID and OSDD at the same time. If you’re wondering about comorbidities and your likelihood of experiencing more than one disorder, please consult a mental health professional! Having comorbidities is not an indication of faking plurality and shouldn’t be a reason for you to deny your plural experience.
4. Communication is often difficult!
For many systems, communication does not come easily and is something that needs to be practiced regularly in order to improve over time. Some systems never reach a place of excellent communication, and that’s okay! It’s also perfectly normal to have a system that goes through communicative cycles, with periods of lots of activity followed by periods of silence. Just because you aren’t hearing from your headmates multiple times every day doesn’t mean that you’re not really a system!
5. Introjects are normal!
It’s okay to have tons of introjects in your system, or even for your system to be made up entirely out of introjects! It’s fine to have fictives, factives, octives, faitives, fuzztives, and everything in between. Yes, you can still be a system with a bunch of anime or smp headmates! Yes, you can still be a system of your introjects are weird, “cringe,” canon-compliant, canon-divergent, factives of celebrities, fictives from popular sources, or anything else! None of these things should cause you to deny your system - lots of other systems are in similar situations!
6. Some members are more prone to denial!
Even in diagnosed CDD systems, sometimes hosts, persecutors, or other members dig their feet in and refuse to acknowledge the system’s existence. We know this definitely happened in our system! Just because a particular member often tries to deny the system, doesn’t mean that you’re faking at all! For some members, the realization that they’re a part of a system can be scary, frustrating, and anxiety-inducing. Some may choose to deny that the system exists in order to protect themselves, or to preserve their way of life. A bit of kindness, patience, and persistence can go a long way in getting these members to accept the reality of your multiplicity!
7. A syscovery may happen at any time!
You don’t need a therapist or specialist to confirm that you’re plural. You don’t need outside validation in order for your system to exist. You may discover your system at a very young age, or well into adulthood. Both of these are perfectly fine times to learn about your plurality - there’s no magic age you must be before you can learn about your system! If your system deals with heavy denial or dissociative barriers, it may take multiple syscoveries in order for the realization to stick. This is nothing to worry about and definitely not proof that you’re faking your plurality!
8. Fakers don’t usually stress about whether or not they’re faking!
Faking an illness is a conscious effort that takes time, knowledge, and dedication. Fakers also don’t worry too much about whether or not they’re faking - for the most part, they absolutely know that they are! If you’re worried that you’ve been faking your plurality all along, honestly chances are slim that you’re actually faking. Try to stay calm and patient, and allow your headmates to speak for themselves on whether or not they think you’re faking your plurality!
9. It’s okay to question!
It’s okay to spend a long time wondering whether or not you’re actually plural. It’s okay to experiment with labels and try some out before you’ve figured out the origins of your system. It’s okay (and recommended, and healthy!) for you to question whether or not you have a trauma history or childhood memory gaps, and to rule out trauma as a cause for your plurality first. It’s okay to have a “pillowgenic” label one week and a “stressgenic” label the next. Questioning is a big part of self-discovery - the mere act of questioning your plurality doesn’t mean that you’re not actually plural by any means. Take your time with figuring out who you are!
10. It’s okay to be wrong!
There’s so much more we’d like to add here, but the last thing we’ll say is it is absolutely fine to be wrong about your origins, headmate count, or your plurality overall! You are not hurting anyone by exploring the concept of plurality, wondering if multiplicity affects you, and ultimately deciding you’re a singlet. It’s also perfectly fine to be wrong about your origins or to discover you’re traumagenic later in life. Deciding you’re endogenic after discovering childhood trauma may not be a wise thing to do, but other than that, it’s okay to be wrong about your experience and the language you use to describe it!
Sorry for the long post! Hopefully some of these affirmations will be reassuring for struggling systems out there. Remember that we’re in your corner rooting for you regardless of your origins or whether or not you experience denial! Please know we’ll always believe you, and we hope that one day you’ll be able to believe in yourself and your system!

@returntothesoup asks:
“Hi! We’re new to interacting with more systems and are unfamiliar with some terms folks us! Any chance you could throw out some definitions for like plurals and multiples and stuff? We just became aware on a grand sense in the last couple years and are working through a lot of stuff alone. Happy to find systems to get to know🫶🏻🩷”
Hello! Welcome to the Tumblr community! It can be toxic at times, so please take care of your mental health! You can block certain tags (like triggers, or communities and such!
Origin: this is referring to what causes the system to form, the most common ones used are Traumagenic, and Endogenic, however it is a spectrum, and also some systems are multi-origin!
Traumagenic: This is referring to systems formed due to childhood trauma. This does not mean every alter is created by trauma.
Endogenic: A spectrum term that refers to systems who formed without trauma. This does not mean they do not have trauma, or that they are faking, it just means they experience plurality outside of what the mainstream idea of plurality is. A example is religious formed systems! (Also to clarify, when I say it’s a spectrum term, look at it like how non-binary is used, some people use it as a label, and some use it as a spectrum, neither is less valid then the other.
Tulpamancy: although a lot of the time this gets grouped with Endogenic, I’d thought I’d explain it since it is quite different. For one, there is many names that are used to describe this. Obviously Tulpamancy, but also Willowgenic, Tulpagenic and Thoughtform. This basically describes the experience of creating a being in your mind sometimes called a Tulpa. This practice originates from an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice.
Splitting/Forming: Splitting is when an alter splits a part of themselves off and creates a fragment, and/or alter. It is possible to split multiple alters at once. Forming is a term that a lot of Endo systems in our experience prefer. Personally we like to use the term when the alter didn’t split off from trauma, but both can be used interchangeably a lot of the time.
Fusion: This is when two or more alters fuse together and create a different alter that is not the same, but all of them at once in a sense (a good way to think of this, is if you put two things of playdoh together and mush it into one, it’s now both of those colors and together they make a new color! Both colors are still there, but they are now mixed together.) Also this is not the same thing as integration. Fusion isn’t always a good thing, and can be caused by traumatic events.
Integration: This is the process of Amnesia barriers lessening. This leads to better communication and less black outs and grey outs.
Blurry: Blurry is when you cannot tell who’s in front.
Blended: Multiple alters are blended together while in front. This can go hand and hand with being Blurry very easily.
Co-Con: This is usually when alters talk to each other outside the inner world! This describes one or more alter is in front, and one or more alters who are conscious, but are not fronting.
Co-Fronting: This is when two or more alters are fronting, but aren’t blended. A example would be: one alter can control the body, while one controls speaking.
Headspace: So some systems use this to describe that little area in your head where you and alters talk, but some use it to describe that and the innerworld.
Innerworld: This is a world internally that alters often go when they aren’t fronting. Not every alters can enter into the innerworld. It’s very common for host to not be able to enter, especially at the beginning. Some systems don’t even have innerworlds as well.
Alters/Headmates/Parts: These are the most common terms to describe different beings within one body. Alters is used most in Traumagenic spaces, while Headmate is very commonly used in Endogenic spaces. These terms can be used by all systems regardless of origin. (We personally feel most comfortable with alters, which is why we have been using it in this post.)
Switching: This is when alters switch who’s in front.
Anyway, that’s some basic terminology! If you, or anyone else would like more of this, feel free to use the ask box! We made it so you can be anonymous now!

In like- all seriousness I think this really goes to show how fucked up trauma internet culture really messed up a lot of people’s interpretation of trauma :/ Trauma comparing and saying people with certain traumas aren’t valid because yours was worse definitely had a big hand to play in endo systems existing. Constantly saying that common traumas like divorce, foster care, isolation, and even emotional abuse isn’t “bad enough” to be valid fucked a lot of people up. To the point where it took Admin years to finally admit that their entire family was terrible because all of them were angry, verbally abusive people because online spaces and even some IRL spaces didn’t treat that as actual trauma. -Sire + B0ffy
The trauma we remembered during early system discovery never invovled being physically touched.
Because of this we had so much denial about having enough trauma to be a system.
Because we were "only" neglected
And "only" verbally abused
And "only" ever threatened
It's such bullshit that because of trauma Olympics use and so many others don't think their trauma is enough to leave the effects that they have.
It's so awful :/

we’re in a big server with a ton of endos and its so uncomfortable 😭 they constantly “sys hop” to each other to flirt or front in each other’s systems and its like “you guys literally talk the same. [x] from [y] system talks the same as [y] from [x] system nothing changed you just registered a bot for the other person.”
and its also frustrating for a silly reason. like watching them giggle and kick their feet over “u should open ur gateway again i wanna see my little sunshine pookie wookie” (exaggerated but still) and it makes us upset because why cant WE visit our partner systems… like i know its not a real logical thing, you cant jump into others consciences, but damn sometimes it makes me think im doing something wrong
on a funnier note we tried to genuinely ask about syshopping and how they do it and ladada and lo and behold they basically went “just imagine youre somewhere… no not like an ACTUAL place… its like really hard to explain sorry :/“ and ignored further questions (its obviously not hard to explain if they’d managed to wrangle ~4 other endos in that server alone to do the same thing)
I really hate that endos still use a term meant for RAMCOA systems. It was meant as a term for anyone high enough (such as gatekeeper, communicator [what we call them], etc.) to be able to communicate and inform sub/side systems what’s going on and to report back on what’s going on.
Like… it’s not supposed to be “oh, yeah, I can travel to someone else.”
If you want to fucking role play with your friends, do so. Stop taking community terms away from us.
And, yeah, it would be nice for those that can’t see their partner systems to be able to see them, but it’s impossible to unless it’s in person/through call (which sucks).
Endos can’t even back half of their claims up, I’ve grown to realize that. They want to say one thing and they know that it’s not possible but they want to continue saying as such.

Brain is really noisy atm and it’s kinda driving me a mad akjdkskd
We have both self-absorbed attention seeking alters and anxious/lonely people-pleasing alters so we’ve been in this constant thought cycle of
A: “we should put anti endo or endo critical on our blog so people finally know how we feel”
B: “What about all the well meaning people who’d hate us if we made that information known? What if acquaintances of ours find out and call us out?”
C: “declaring that we’re not pro endo in any sense is just going to put an unnecessary target on our back, and A you only want to do that so people harass us in our inbox”
A: “True but also I’m sick of having to deal with us being always lumped in with these people who clearly aren’t experiencing the same thing as us by their own definition. At the very least it’d be a sign for them to stay out of our blog”
Etc etc, wash rinse repeat
Like I wish none of this even had to happen tbh akjdks
I just wish endogenics could’ve just cultivated their own whole group completely separate from OSDDID with all their own unique terms and concepts and done whatever instead of conflating themselves with systems even though the whole POINT is that they fundamentally aren’t experiencing what we’re experiencing
Idk,,,, hopefully something from this rambling made sense
im sorry things are like this anon. Endos are so frustrating and it is annoying that we even have to be anti endo. That we have to have an opinion, that we have to openly say we're not okay with people making fun of our disorder and spreading misinformation even though it should be common sense that it's not okay. You are valid, your feelings are valid and I can understand it. Honestly, if you want to and are ready to, then say you're anti endo. If you aren't ready keep it private, maybe say you aren't comfortable sharing your stance on it yet. If people hate you for being anti endo, they aren't well meaning, and yes being openly anti endo can lead to some harassment but over our experiences on other blogs we've rarely received much of it. Even then you can always block people or turn off anon if it gets to much ^_^ please stay safe and do whatever you think would be best for you and your system

I hate endo bullshit. I’ve talked to quite a few “former endo” systems who realized they weren’t endo and had to unpack a lot of endo bullshit.
A big one is this endo idea that your whole whole system can randomly die or disappear?? Endo roleplay about how you can just get rid of alters or “reset” your system is so awful to hear about second hand. Endos stop spreading misinformation on how dormancy works and scaring people with dissociative disorders challenge.

the most wild thing about endos trying to "prove endo plurality" is using OLD sources, which mentions "normal multiplicity" which just means adherence to social norms observed (which would basically consider everyone if not only non-socially awkward neurotypical people endo systems), and then their "new" sources just re-uses prior ideology of the old sources, just removing the term "normal multiplicity" (instead now being called "multiple self-aspects" and "multiple self-control"), but it still only proves that they'd consider everyone if not just those deemed "socially functional" an endo system
I usually don’t participate in this kind of discourse anymore, but since I got this ask, why not?
There are all these sources, all this stuff… And none of it goes beyond acknowledging it as a social phenomenon. I wish the community could just accept that and not try to warp it. Because the thing is that endo/nondisordered/mixed origin/non-CDD plurality doesn’t really need to be “proven”.
The only reason we’re stuck on proving that it’s either real or fake is this obsession that we all have with comparing it to CDDs. But… That doesn’t really work. CDDs have a structure that is entirely based around trauma. All of these parts of self — and yes, they are parts — are either ego states from childhood that further elaborated and became more autonomous and independent senses of self because of the inability to go through the normal steps of childhood identity development, parts that split and followed that same pattern as a coping mechanism in adulthood (what caused it doesn’t matter. Trauma or not. Anything that causes dissociation, any niche that needs to be filled or need that’s unmet can possibly cause splitting in anyone who already has the disorder.), or less elaborated parts that… Still follow that structure.
Even ANPs and parts not formed (directly) from trauma (you can split over whatever you split over. If you think you’re mixed origins because you have DID/OSDD but split over something that wasn’t trauma, keep that in mind— your every split doesn’t have to be from trauma to still have a CDD) are still fundamentally unable to exist without trauma. They’re there to function. They’re your brain’s attempt to hide from that trauma by not experiencing the feelings associated with it or not knowing exactly what happened.
Non-CDD plural umbrella headmates simply aren’t that at their base. They’re many times considered separate people, and even then, their physical structure could never look like that of a CDD alter— that doesn’t say anything about their validity, just that they’re different. Even if an endogenic plural goes through trauma in adulthood, they’re going to develop PTSD or CPTSD. That doesn’t mean their trauma is less “valid”. It just means that the brain structure did what it naturally does when it’s traumatized. That’s all trauma disorders are— natural responses to unnatural circumstances. And the natural response at that age is just different, whether you’re plural or not. It’s no more or less valid.
We need to get it out of our heads that non-CDD plurality and CDDs are something that need to or even can be compared. We could all coexist quite easily if we weren’t constantly trying to shove each other around by either trying to force two nearly unrelated communities together or trying to yell at people practicing a belief that they’re wrong. They’re only wrong if they try to apply their own logic/belief system to CDDs— not simply by existing.
Back to the point, though: Non-CDD/Endo plurality doesn’t need to be proven. Because that would be stupid. Everyone needs to chill about that, honestly. It’s not always a spiritual phenomenon with plurals, but whether it is or not, it kind of fills the same cultural niche, if that makes sense. You don’t go up to a spiritual person and demand they give you sources, because no matter how hard those studies try, they’re not going to be able to explain it. It’s a subjective experience and can’t really be proven or disproven. It’s the same with plurality.
And… that’s another reason it’s completely separate from CDDs. Complex Dissociative Disorders are definitely widely varied experiences / a very colorful and diverse spectrum of experiences, but they’re an objective thing. A kid with a predisposition to dissociation gets stressed and can’t do anything with it except dissociate over and over until it’s too late. Bam. CDD. We can see it on brain scans, we have a million different papers on it and we have a very clearly defined explanation for how it happens. Non-CDD plurality is a subjective experience. No one can quite define what exactly it is or how it happens in a way that is going to include everyone who experiences it— and that’s okay. That’s completely alright, because there’s no need, as long as everyone is content, right?
I know I kind of just used this ask to go off on a tangent, but… Yeah.
They’re different things. That’s okay, and it just means we need different things.

did anon really ask you “why don’t you appreciate the perspective of a hate group who thinks you aren’t an actual person” ????? this isn’t a “both sides” situation this is one person saying they exist and deserve to be treated as a human being and the other side saying they don’t. you don’t have to consider the position of a person who hates you for your very existence
This!
I don't feel we need to pretend that there are two equal and valid positions in syscourse, or to treat the anti-endo position as if it's worthy of being listened to or respected
