Hi, a long time ago you said some weird things in the comments of a post about saints being alive in god and "praying in heaven" or something. Any chance you can explain why you ignore the Bible stating that heaven won't be created until after the Second Coming and all the events of the End Times are over, when everyone gets resurrected (which is what heaven is explained to be in the Bible)? It explicitly states that everyone who has ever died is unconscious, unknowing and unaware, "as if in sleep" until then.
So, first things first, I'm always saying weird things, so jot that down.
Second, I went to my Christianity tag to try and find the post you are referring to, and honestly had quite a good time reading other posts I had forgotten about.
Third, is this your first rodeo in "accosting someone on anon to discuss apologetics mentioned in a post that happened many moons ago"? because the baity "ignore The Bible" "explained to be in the Bible" phrasing is really cheap. Or, if you think this is the beginning of a long conversation where you'll provide those quotes as some sort of gotcha, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this is the first and last ask that I will answer in this chain. If you DO want to discuss this further, then come and show your face on a reblog.
There's only two posts I can find that seem to fit your description:
This one, where funnily enough I said Christ didn't command us to be petty smartasses to each other (that does include trying to stir shit like you do here).
And this one, where I explained more than sufficiently the Biblical roots of the Catholic position on the intercession of the saints, so for any elaboration in that particular, there, although I forgot to mention John 8:56: "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”
As for the existence of Heaven before the End Times as a separate issue, well, where else did Jesus go when he ascended, BODILY? We can talk of Heaven as the physical reality of The New Heavens and New Earth, where we think resurrected bodies will be, and Heaven as the spiritual reality of life in God, Glory. And if being in Heaven that way is living in God, then that is an experience completely outside of time, because God is infinite and eternal. Basically Christ's ascension is His leaving time for eternity, and from the pov of eternity there isn't a before or an after Earth; all that happens on Earth is eternal present from the perspective of eternity.
The only way the saints could be waiting for Heaven at the same time they await resurrection, as asleep and outside of God's vision, it's if they are in a third place, neither Heaven nor Hell. Which is basically Purgatory Lite. And as you probably know, the concept of Purgatory is very frowned upon outside Catholicism.

despite voting against him at many a turn including just now i AM outing myself finally now that the polls almost over as a speedwagon enjoyer because like yeah. well. i do like the concept of a victorian gay man who bonds with his unrequited loves widow over their mutual grief for the man they loved. and they raise his son together. but also its so funny that he kinda is canonically a class traitor LOL

I absolutely love it when people bring up "aemonds love for his family" as if he didn't abandon them when rhaenyra took over kl to fuck alys 🤣 and even when cole asked him to come with him he refused and even alicent confidence he'll come for them but he never did 🤣
No not tg stans bringing up the daemon vs aemond fight and completely ignoring the maelys part which they all knew only she would come but they still fought her 2 v 1 because alone even with vhagar, meleys would win no problem. So sunfyre would have been a peice of cake alone, like he lost a fight with a war horse sized dragon later 😭
Like bro even in battle over the gods eye aemond only comes confident he would absolutely win, why did he think that? Dameon has not only famously broke his hips but he also has a dragon that is smaller than meleys, which is why that coward came, he even says it himself
Luke going to storms end: "Vhagar sensed his coming first....... a roar that shook the very foundatio..Even arrax quailed before that sound, we are told, and Luke plied his whip freely as he forced him down."
Aemond coming to fight:
" ..... You were a fool to come alone.”
“Were I not alone, you would not have come,” said Daemon
And you know what grrm was trying to do with that dailouge? Make a parallel with lucerys, where lucerys walked in despite the fact there is no way if vhagar decided to attack they would survive, aemond only came to fight thinking he'd win
And he fact in show aemond is completely silent though out the discussion till he absolutely knows lucerys has no allies here, and he even fucking smiles when borros asks then to leave, absolutely knowing he's about to chase them, people who have no way to fight or protect themselves
I get why tg people like the tg characters tbh, they provide surface level badassery but all of them feel so bad about their own actions you still have that detachment that you're not guilty for liking them 🤷🏽‍♀️ situation made them like this. Which btw is not a sentiment they would ever extend for lucerys, a 5 year old who had to protect his brother and 14 year old who had to leave after doing his Duty. Happy knowing all of green faction perishes for lucerys 🔥

sandwich a la speedster
Perching her head on interlaced fingers, Lei watched Wally line his knife across the top of his sandwich.
He kept making microscopic adjustments to the blade, his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth from the effort. One millimeter left, two right. Finally after a few more rounds of the kitchen hokey-pokey, Lei said, “Oh my God, Wally. Cut it.”
“Almooost…” Wally kept his eyes still fixed on his sandwich, but didn’t move any faster than he had been.
Lei gestured vaguely at the set up strewn over the kitchen counter– half a fridge’s worth of ingredients she was pretty sure weren’t meant to be together. “You could’ve been done ages ago.”
“We’re not going anywhere,” Wally said, finally sawing through the first layer of his triple decker. “And I happen to like the process.”
“Well.” Lei snipped without any real fire, “Like the process faster.”
He laughed and sucked a bit of mustard off his thumb, his sandwich now cut perfectly down the middle. “There’s merit in taking things slow, y’know, have a little respect for the art.”
“It’s three meats on rye.”
“It’s the human experience.” Wally said with a gleam in his eye.
“Oh-kay.” She flicked a strand of hair over her shoulder, but she didn’t hide the lacing laughter in her tone.
“Our ancestors have been stacking stuff between baked pieces of grain since the dawn of civilization.” He said, tapping the counter in emphasis, “Every sandwich is our connection to our forebearers. Our history. Our…”
Wally looked out somewhere beyond Lei’s head, but judging by his faltering expression he’d exhausted his muse.
“Essence of life.” Lei suggested.
“Essence of life.” Wally agreed as he wrapped a half of his sandwich in a plastic sheet– taking care of folding it neatly– before handing it to her.
“I’m out of gold leaf.” He said when she hesitated, “Sorry, Miss I’ve-Got-A-Personal-
Michelin-Star-Chef.”
Lei rolled her eyes and snatched it from his hand, spinning the seat of her chair as to turn her back on him. She shot a smile over her shoulder, “It’s two personal Michelin chefs and their respective crews, thank you.”
“Oh, gee. My bad.” He said around a mouthful.
Lei studied her half of the sandwich. It didn’t look half-bad. Sandwiches weren't her go-to food the way it was for Wally– who swore up and down were acceptable for all three meals of the day– but she’d been forced to miss lunch earlier.
That was the excuse she gave herself when she took a sniff, quickly followed by a bite. She hummed appreciatively, turning back around to face Wally.
“I’ll eat it if you don’t want it.” He said, reaching out for it, only for his response to be a swift slap of his hand. “Ow?” Wally clamped his sandwich between his teeth, rubbing at the sting.
“Don’t be dramatic.” Lei said quickly, making sure she took another extra big bite. She was hungrier than she thought she’d been and she didn’t like how Wally thought she was too good for ‘normal’ food.
He was right, of course, but she didn’t like him thinking she wouldn’t take something he gave her.
And, honestly, it wasn’t a bad sandwich. A little heavy-handed on the mustard and she wasn’t a fan of the brown flecks on the lettuce. Cheddar wasn’t her favorite cheese. But all in all, she could almost say she liked it.
“Alright, West.” She said, “Maybe you have something there.”
He snorted. By some miracle —likely because he still hadn’t found a way to safely dislocate his jaw— Wally hadn’t stuffed his half into his mouth. “Jimmy John’s would go to war with Subway for me.”
“I meant your little ‘human connection’ thing.” Lei peeled away more of the plastic from her sandwich, surprised she’d already eaten half way through it. “I can’t remember the last time someone made a sandwich for me for the sake of it. It’s nice.”
Wally swallowed with a little more effort than Lei was comfortable with. He lifted up his remaining bite in the air, it took Lei a minute to realize he was proposing a toast, “May our bread be the foundation of a greater We…Bologna, an extension of our heartstrings…and the weird, kinda green thing that was chillin’ in the back of the pantry our bond that lives through time.”
Lei closed her eyes, choosing to ignore that little tidbit. She lifted her own remaining piece of dinner. It wasn’t much smaller than Wally’s. “Hallelu.”
They tapped their bites and ate.
it’s the way i’ve had this sketch for over a year. and it let it be known lei expects wally to make her sandwiches from then on.

Upgrades
KITT disapproves of modern cars. Especially when Michael is showing too much interest in one. AO3 link
Michael strolled out of the restaurant, pausing to take in the clean lines of the sleek metallic gray Corvette parked next to KITT before turning back to his longtime partner.
KITT's door refused to open.
"C'mon buddy," Michael said.
KITT remained silent, dashboard and door sensor dark.
Michael rested his arms on KITT's roof and looked down into the window. "Buddy, we're kind of out in public here. People are going to think I'm crazy."
No response came from the black Trans Am.
Michael sighed and walked around the front of his car. The scanner in KITT's nose quickly stopped its back-and-forth sweep and shut off as soon as Michael came round the front of his partner, but not fast enough to escape Michael's notice.
"Ha!" Michael said. "Knew you were playing possum. Now open the door, please. I've already had to deal with the board of trustees tonight."
KITT's scanner and dashboard lit back up, but his door remained locked when Michael tried it again.
"Will you at least tell me what's wrong?" Michael asked in exasperation.
"I saw you looking," KITT replied. "You want to replace me." Michael sighed and looked up at the sky, where a crescent moon hung blurred in the eternal Los Angeles smog.
"KITT, I'm not going to replace you," he replied.
"Why else were you looking at that…. that thing," KITT replied peevishly. "It's not like I have anything to offer you anymore. "
"What?" Michael nearly shouted. "KITT, how can you say that?"
"Its communication systems are just as good as mine, it responds to voice commands, and even its dashboard looks like mine," KITT groused. "I know I'm outdated. I can tell when I'm going to be replaced."
"KITT, first, I am not abandoning you for scrap in a restaurant parking lot," Michael said sternly. "Second, there aren't many ways to mount a screen in a car dashboard that look half-decent, so of course it looks a bit like your dashboard. Now, will you let me in, or do I need to call RC to bring the mobile unit out with the winch?"
A long beat of silence ensued, but KITT's door popped open.
Michael slid into the driver's seat, his knee joints popping loudly as he tucked himself into KITT's low-slung cabin.
"And here you thought I'd trade you for a car that's even lower to the ground," Michael quipped. "At my age I'd never get back out of that thing."
"Michael, please don't joke about replacing me," KITT said.
"KITT, how long have we been working together?" Michael asked, yanking his tie free and tucking it in the glove compartment.
"Forty-one years, five months, and three days," KITT replied.
"Did I replace you when the tech crew created Domino?" Michael asked.
"No."
"Did I replace you when the lab teams created the nanobots for the Knight Industries Three Thousand?"
"No."
"So what makes you think, after forty years and I don't even remember how many upgrades, that I would replace you with a production-line Corvette?"
"You once told me that humans like new things. Fashionable things," KITT said. "I know the new Corvettes are considered fashionable, and you were looking."
Michael sighed, staring at the LED equalizer bars of KITT's voicebox that had remained unchanged at KITT's own request through hundreds of dashboard updates, and racked his memory for a long moment.
"I guess I did say that," Michael said. "KITT, fashion has cycles. Things come in and out of fashion. Anything that stays around long enough becomes fashionable again."
"So you're settling for me," KITT said sulkily. "It's not like you need my turbo boost or oil slick since you took over the directorship and stopped going out on missions. You don't need me anymore."
"There he is," a voice said. "We didn't miss the meeting after all." A bullet bounced off KITT's windshield and shattered the driver-side window of the Corvette.
"KITT!" Michael shouted. "What's going on?"
"It appears someone was preparing an ambush for the Knight Foundation board," KITT replied. "They arrived late."
"And you didn't warn me," Michael said, glaring at KITT's dashboard. All three screens were now lit up and displaying information on the status of KITT's systems and the holographic heads-up display was tracking the gunmen. "KITT, you were supposed to be in surveillance mode."
KITT remained silent.
"KITT," Michael ground out his partner's name through clenched teeth. "KITT if this isn't evidence that I still need you, I don't know what is."
"Finally," KITT said. The holographic countdown appeared in the heads-up display, and KITT's turbine fired up.
Michael grinned as he backed out of the parking space and aimed KITT at the exit of the parking lot.
"Let's see how far they'll chase us," Michael said. "I want to see if we can get them all the way to the police station."

I've been hearing some deeply worrying things about 4 surveillance/censorship bills: https:// www.badinternetbills .com/
From what I've been able to gather online, these bills (the Kids Online Safety Act, EARN IT Act, STOP CSAM Act and RESTRICT Act) all proclaims to be about protecting children online, but the evidence I've seen from various articles highlights that they all share the same serious flaws of being too overly broad and vague, with various stipulations and elements that would actually not only fail to protect children, but also outright lead to incredibly invasive censorship.
There's even been an explicit admission from far right wing groups like the Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council that they actively plan to use the first bill (and likely the others) to silence LGBT media online.
They outright stated as such here:
https:// www.heritage.org /gender/commentary/how-big-tech-turns-kids-trans
https:// twitter.com /ButNotTheCity/status/1661560827164471296
The first two are supported by a religious fundamentalist group who used to go by Morality in Media.
And the first three bills have massive bipartisan support, with EARN IT and STOP CSAM already on the calendar to be heard in the Senate, and significant celebrity support for the first bill.
IIRC, SESTA/FOSTA also had similar results akin to KOSA, and that turned out to be a disaster.
...I can't help but be extremely worried, because any reaction to these bills has been lukewarm and lacking, with barely any significant pushback.
Basically yeah, this is what I mean when I say that regulating social media is currently almost impossible in a useful and productive way. Both left and right will talk about "protecting children online," which in my opinion is a bullshit metric anyway because it's a) so wildly unspecific and b) usually means OH NO A CHILD MIGHT SEE TITTIES moral panic, rather than actually addressing the violent extremist/far right/Nazi/other types of terrorist content that is far more of a threat. The right wing wants to use it to demonize LGBTQ content, because that's their goal with literally everything right now. The left is caught between a rock and a hard place where they want to regulate and/or punish Big Tech for all that casual democracy-destroying-for-profit that they've been doing, but haven't figured out how to apply that effectively, get it passed, or otherwise achieve the desired results. So they end up signing onto these vague "Protect The Children" acts which are extremely vulnerable to being manipulated by bad actors (and are often deliberately designed by said bad actors in the first place) to look like they're addressing the problem. Which they're not. They're not getting at the tech oligarchs who actually control these platforms, they're not putting in meaningful safeguards, they're just thinking that requiring individuals to submit age verification for porn sites or whatever is somehow going to fix this. Which. It will not.
The good news here is that every few years there's a lot of alarm about some bill that's going to Break The Internet As We Know It, and while we obviously need to pay attention to those and keep abreast of what's going on, that has not actually happened yet and even fucking nightmare-city SCOTUS recently declined to dismantle or otherwise significantly overhaul Section 230, which would have opened the door to all kinds of micromanaging/policing/bad-faith lawsuits from people who scream about "Free Speech!!!" and then want to destroy it for everyone who is not them. So yes, obviously, continue to exercise your rights, contact your representatives, make sure people know what is at stake etc -- but there are good people working on this, such as the Wikipedia foundation and others, who have been battling literal DECADES of attacks on the open web and have been in this fight for the long haul. They'll be in it for this one too, so if you're exceptionally worried, I would advise you to look into foundations/organizations working on this. They have a whole lot of structure and experience, I'm sure they would welcome volunteers, and you can join the effort that's already underway, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel and build an opposition movement from scratch. So yeah.

With the plot against them foiled and the city of Qi-Katai in safe hands, Velasin and Caethari have begun to test the waters of their relationship. But the wider political ramifications of their marriage are still playing out across two nations, and all too soon, they’re summoned north to Tithena’s capital city, Qi-Xihan, to present themselves to its monarch. With Caethari newly invested as his grandmother’s heir and Velasin’s old ghosts gnawing at his heels, what little peace they’ve managed to find is swiftly put to the test. Cae’s recent losses have left him racked with grief and guilt, while Vel struggles with the disconnect between instincts that have kept him safe in secrecy and what an open life requires of him now. Pursued by unknown assailants and with Qi-Xihan’s court factions jockeying for power, Vel and Cae must use all the skills at their disposal to not only survive, but thrive – because there’s more than one way to end an alliance, and more than one person who wants to see them fail.
"We are not tragedies". Foz Meadows' All the Hidden Paths is the surprise sequel to last year's A Strange and Stubborn Endurance, an excellent exploration of abuse and healing that became one of my favorite books of 2022. The first book seemed to be a standalone novel and resolve everything, although it left some threads; these threads are explored beautifully in this sequel, where the question is pretty simple: what next? After facing one's fears and coming out, what is next?
The answer is that of course not everything is finally and magically solved; one has to work through one's issues. Vel struggles for the most part of this novel with his dark thoughts, pulled forth by the turmoil Cae himself is feeling after the events of the first novel. They need to learn to know each other and trust each other, and most importantly, communicate. This novel features a constant push and pull between Velasin's trauma and Caethari's sense of inadequacy that isn't perfectly resolved, setting perhaps the stage for a third book. I would love a final volume in this series; the news of this one sequel had taken me completely by surprise. One can see that there's still material to explore, if the author wanted to.
The mystery is more enticing than the one in the first novel's, less straightforward and thus exciting as the duo, with the help of Vel's valet friend and a reluctant ally, attempt to find the name behind an unnerving number of murder attempts. The appearance of many new characters makes the narration vibrant and well-rounded, with a sharp focus on the intricate politics of the new court setting, building on the rich world-building of the first novel. Caethari and Velasin don't know who to trust, and we are left spinning with possibilities as they navigate such unfamiliar grounds at the same time as they attempt to navigate their relationship and overcome the hurdles coming their way. It's refreshing to see that even despite the conflict building, we never doubt their love for each other. This novel is also definitely spicier than the first, with a good number of sex scenes that range from being intimately sweet to exceedingly intense. Once again, one can only be grateful for the author's decision to put trigger warnings at the beginning of the novel.
Onto the elephant in the room, or rather, the new POV that dominates a few interludes: the character's journey was compelling and his plight made one sympathize with him, but there was perhaps an issue of pacing, where a few more interludes might have been needed to better appreciate his story and how it entwined with the main characters'. As things stand, one finds oneself wanting for more, and his ending especially feels a bit abrupt.
All the Hidden Paths is a stunning sequel that builds on the lovely foundations of the first novel.
✨ 4.5 stars
