I had a great weekend out in Salt Lake City at the Gym Jones Level II certification seminar. A great group of instructors, coaches, and athletes sharing knowledge, making connections, and absolutely brutal workout sessions each day. If you’ve tried any of our workout plans you will see that they are largely based off Gym Jones fundamental training standards and guidelines, with a mix of strongman sprinkled in for good measure.

One the standards on the path to full certification as a Gym Jones Instructor is the 2000 meter row under 7:00 mins. Unfortunately, I missed the standard this weekend with a 7:02 min row time. I have to admit I’m a little bummed and angry with my performance but I treat it as a baseline for adjust my programming over the next few months. I treat failures as a guidelines in my training, not a life ending day in the gym. I’ll just base all pace times off my 7:02 min 2000 meter row time, and move forward to reaching my goals.

The “Triathlon” Challenge ~ Scroll for videos and my times on each exercise ~I stole this from @bobbymaximus ~ They quoted it as the “Hardest Workout you can do in 5 Minutes” (my 2 cents if it’s not the hardest it’s damn close) ~ The Setup: 1. Ski 500M 2. Fan/ Assault Bike 50 Cals 3. Row 500M all in 5 Minutes or Less. Took me 4:57 start to finish to complete ...and I was on the ground for a good 15 Minutes in the fetal position felt like 💀 to be honest. I went Bike first at 1:31- Ski second at 1:40 and Row last at 1:41 ~ I picked this order because the bike is the hardest for me Row is the easiest...this is not only a crushing physical challenge but mentally to see how deep of waters you are willing to go and test what your true capacity is. My gym yesterday........an abandoned gate at an airport with natural concealment.......this is life on the road. People seem interested in what I do fitness wise but it’s nothing more than pushups, pull-ups, dips, abs and running. It would be boring if I posted it (and no one pays me to work out with them) plus I lean heavy towards pull-ups and a climbers type workout which takes time to be able to work up to anyway. My running varies depending on how much time I have but again based on being a runner for 30 years so not the best program for starting out. Check out my friend @tmacsinc for his band and other workouts or the good folks at @gymjonessalvation who can better help you with what you’re looking for. In all cases look for a small incremental increase for your first 6-8 weeks of starting out and know it happens slowly over time and you’ll need commitment and a solid 30-45 mins set aside a day. Gym Jones named workout the “Jonestown Crawl”.
It three rounds for time of 10 deadlifts at 115% of your body weight and 25 box jumps. The only difference for men and women is the box jump height. The deadlifts are based of body weight so if your deadlift 1rm is close to your body weight this is going to be a rough workout.
