- “Thy friendship makes us fresh” - #HenryVI #WilliamShakespeare There is a #gazillion things going through my mind right now, many things I feel amazed by, but none of them is stronger than being immensely grateful for having good friends! 🥰 Good friends helped to keep #Shakespeare and his works alive forever, and I am a #luckybastard with #friends just like these ones… Friends that believed in me, pushed me to do more, to do better… 👊🏻 This tablet, for me, is more than about a historical figure, it is about friendship, and the power it has! 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Especial thanks to #MrJ ♥️ #Puddin #Friendship (at The British Library) https://www.instagram.com/p/CewhCIrjf33/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A Flair for Drama
A Flair for Drama
William Shakespeare’s play, Henry VI, Part 1, is a play that centers on King Henry V’s death, where the title of warrior is passed onto Talbot. Talbot’s name is feared among those in France, but the French are still unwilling to end the war. Many characters are mentioned throughout the play, each having their own small story and time in the spotlight. After Talbot, we have John Talbot, his son.…

what do you think of wadakuma as Roy Mustang
glad he's continuing his personal streak of taking roles about being a dilf !! never really got into fma, but I know roy's an aloof standoffish (assholish?) character and I sooooo wanna see kuma doing that....I don't think he's played a character like that since edgeworth iirc

JOAN OF ARC EXECUTION SITE...
On May 30th, 1431, a nineteen year old girl known as Jeanne d'Arc- Joan of Arc- was burned at the stake at the old market place in medieval Rouen.
The theoretical charge against Joan was one of heresy but, truth be told, it was by this time as expedient for the French King, Charles VII, to be rid of her as much as it was for his English enemies, and their Burgundian satraps.
Joan had outlived her usefulness to Charles, and embarrassed the opposing English far too much. Captured by Burgundian forces in the spring of 1430 at the siege of Compiegene, she was sold to the English for 10,000 livres by Phillip III, Duke of Burgundy.
That same December, she was transferred to a prison in Rouen. The medieval city on the Seine was at that time the administrative capital and military headquarters on French soil of the English King, Henry VI.
Henry turned Joan over for trial to Bishop Cauchon, a true snake with a sceptre. The result was a foregone conclusion.
The cross in the first photograph marks the exact spot where this feared, obviously frightened nineteen year old girl ended her time on this earth. Looked at in any context, it was a sad, shabby, shameful and ghastly state of affairs...

On This Day In History . 23 April 1445 . King Henry VI married Margaret of Anjou . . ◼ Cardinal Beaufort & the Earl of Suffolk persuaded the king that the best way of pursuing peace with France was through a marriage with Margaret of Anjou, the niece of King Charles VII. Henry agreed, especially when he heard reports of Margaret’s stunning beauty, & sent Suffolk to negotiate with Charles, who agreed to the marriage on condition that he would not have to provide the customary dowry & instead would receive the lands of Maine & Anjou from the English. . ◼ These conditions were agreed to in the Treaty of Tours, but the cession of Maine & Anjou was kept secret from parliament, as it was known that this would be hugely unpopular with the English populace. . ◼ The marriage took place at Titchfield Abbey, Hampshire on 23 April 1445, one month after Margaret’s 15th birthday, Henry was 24. . ◼ They had one son, Edward of Westminster (b.13 October 1453 – 4 May 1471), also known as Edward of Lancaster. He married Anne Neville (later Queen of England as the wife of Richard III). He was killed at the Battle of Tewkesbury, during the War of the Roses, 4 May 1471, making him the only heir apparent to the English throne ever to die in battle. . . . #OnThisDayInHistory #ThisDayInHistory #TheYear1445 #RoyalWedding #KingofEngland #KingHenryVI #HenryVI #MargaretofAnjou #QueenMargaret #TitchfieldAbbey #History #EnglishMonarchy #Weddingday #historyinpictures #kingandqueen #Hampshire #BritishMonarchy #otd #OnThisDay #MedievalHistory #medieval #Medievalperiod #medievaltimes #medievalage #Wedding #HouseofLancaster #HouseofPlantagenet #d23apr (at Titchfield Abbey) https://www.instagram.com/p/COBlDf8sJqt/?igshid=18gywr956tuv8

KING HENRY VI   I fear me, love, if that I had been dead,  Thou wouldst not have mourn'd so much for me.
QUEEN MARGARET   No, my love, I should not mourn, but die for thee. Or close the wall up with our English dead.
Henry VI Part2  Act 4, Scene 4 by King Henry VI and Queen Margaret

31st August 1422, death of King of England Henry V, also known as Henry of Monmouth, who had reigned as king from 1413. Despite his military successes during the ‘Hundred Years War’, especially in his overwhelming victory against the French at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, Henry V died suddenly on this day of either dysentery or heatstroke, at the age of 35. He was succeeded by his only son who became Henry VI at only a few months old. Attempting to hold on to his father's achievements in France, Henry VI’s reign was diminished due to military, diplomatic, and economic problems, alongside periods of his mental instability. These problems propelled his cousin Richard of the House of York into the spotlight as a favourable alternative, leading to the Wars of the Roses in 1455. Henry VI reigned until May 1471, where he was executed in the Tower of London on the orders of Yorkist King Edward IV.
