Blau gemacht

came back from a trip to Vienna. highlights:
Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore at the state opera house. really cute staging, lovely acting, the building is gorgeous. deeply bemused by people going dressed up as though it was a première, in gala gloves, when it was a monday performance;
the deeply viennese experience of eating a cheese sausage with mustard at the sausage stand right outside the opera before going in;
the simply giant knödel I got in a heuriger with crispy lard inside the humongous dumpling;
my ability to find the coolest places leading me to the hotel könig von ungarn right next to the alleged mozart house which had a really cool covered courtyard with classical music playing and also possibly the cheapest coffee in central vienna, like that espresso was 3 euros. which in italy would count as highway robbery but I haven't seen any lower than 3 during my entire trip lmao;
day trip to bratislava in slovakia and the deer fillet I got in a restaurant there;
the night bus we were supposed to take doesn't pass and we're left standing in fuckin schwedenplatz for 40 minutes repeatedly cursing all the saints;
poor kids on halloween ringing the bell and we literally only had rice crackers or booze to given them, so we gave them nothing :')
visit at the zentralfriedhof to see the cool tombs of dead people. wanted to find salieri and schönberg but my feet were tired; did manage to pop by beethoven, schubert, brahms, and strauss.
