BOY HOWDY DO I LOVE TO TALK ABOUT MY OCS also i dont think ive ever fully written them all out like this before i really have,,,,, lots huh

ok so my main bitch, who ive had for like ,,,, damn this frog game @torpidglory is running has been going for almost a year now thats wild - anyways her name is hadassa silverstone & shes a black dragonborn uhh,,,, failed revolutionary & priestess of the raven queen? mechanically shes a level 5 grave domain cleric w a criminal background and a Lot of issues - im kind of overhauling her right now in terms of like personality / rp stuff bc i know a lot about her backstory but i never really decided what kind of person she is? shes ,, the reluctant mom friend & she believes in fate and i think she tries to believe that most people have good in them & she should try to find it, but that kind of goes against her instincts (she grew up on and off the streets & was adjacent to the thieves guild, her dead twin brother was a member) so its something shes working on. she was a casual worshipper of the raven queen for most of her life and i think originally joined the temple as cover / to give her comrades access to a safehouse? but then over time she developed a really deep connection to the raven queen & now since the first thing she remembers after her whole backstory Nonsense which i dont have time to get into here went down is waking up in the temple, she really believes that her goddess has a plan for her & brought her back to life to achieve that. (sorry i think about hadassa a lot shes probably my favorite oc and i would die for her shes got a whole playlist which is a wip but like.. so u know how serious i am) 

then just continuing in order of when the games started we got ifrit kheferu, a tiefling sorcerer whos part of this dragon religion we made up?? narratively hes a favored soul but mechanically his sorcerous origin is phoenix bc i wanted to play an immolator but dnd doesnt super have that build so i improvised - anyways hes got a god complex & thinks hes a prophet & the dragons speak to him and also hes a pretentious nightmare twink..... hes heavily inspired by ephrim friendsatthetable and somebody else who i cant remember, hes only level 1 and we havent played this game in a Minute bc its a rotating dm west marches thing & i think im running the next oneshot (his full list of titles is the Reverend Ifrit Kheferu, Flame-touched, Lightbringer, Lesser Dauphin of the Coruscat of Thalia - formerly of the Marid, Third Flagship of clan Ifrit)

then we got Val, my bouncer paladin from the dungeon world game that my friend james is running - theyre a temple guard at the temple of the Lady, which we created during world gen as like.... a sanctuary for vice and stuff like that?? (weird things happen during the quiet year its a fun game lads) anyways the Lady is the goddess of thieves, luck, & protector of all those who use the roads so within the walls of the temple compound is kind of a combination hostel, casino, brothel, and marketplace? like generally the vibe of the Lady is that thing of where a bartender ends up being ur therapist, except that theyre a priest - so val is a bouncer, pretty much, but w a divine connection. theyre legally required to scam people in order to keep their quest boons. 

last but not least, brand new and untested, is ismene assam, tiefling swashbuckler rogue & first mate of the pirate ship la salope. she hates furbies, loves deals, and was gonna be my only non spellcasting character but, well, tieflings - her spells that she gets from her infernal legacy are like friends & charm person & stuff so i think she doesnt think of them as magic, just like,,, force of personality - i rolled on some tables from xanathars guide for backstory stuff and i think she was born in the city of dis and then moved around a lot growing up - one of her parents is a devil and she has some connection to nobility maybe?? i think she scammed her way into a court somewhere & ran off after getting engaged or married to a princeling im not entirely sure - again, untested. she cheats at cards, cant resist a bet, thinks she’s more or less unconnable, and shes gonna be EXTREMELY fun to play. her original concept was a gunslinger who’s just zoe from firefly but a tiefling, so theres still a bit of that in her? but shes changed a LOT since then

@flarechaser started talking about SW Rebels D&D (Eberron, specifically) AU in the campaign groupchat and then whoops here we are, with a whole lot of one. i’ve only drawn hera and idk if i’ll do the others, but! hot important info:

hera is a half-elf-half-genasi... technically fighter (mastermind, i think), but her True Power, as in canon, lies in her captaining of the Ghost, who in this world is a seafaring vessel, rather than a spacefaring one. (we considered airships first, but i don’t think she’d care much for the enslaved air elemental aspect of them). she’s got a crossbow, even though im sure its hardly the best weapon as a fighter, but again, that’s not really mainly what she does. and she doesn’t have a gun even though some of the others have guns just bc a) their guns are a lot more iconic and i didnt feel like i could find an equivalent for them, b) hera with a crossbow is COOL and HOT. thank u. 

anyway the rest of the gang is:

My opinion but I’m frequently right

Edit: I’ve been called out for forgetting to include paladins so I’ve added them very sorry! Also please tag what dm you are and if I’m right I love to read them ❤️

Barbarian- not always a rules lawyer but you know every goddamn combat stat. What weapon hit die? Got it. Spell radius? Got it. Modifiers and prone rules? Got it all babey who needs a players handbook with you around

Bard- your npcs have really in-depth fleshed out backstories that you really love! You might be ok with it if your party makes this campaign a dating sim. Also, you’re the most likely to allow joke characters

Cleric- you like to give your party a travel buddy! A companion npc to help out, fill out the party and provide some banter. You know these npcs are your best chance at steering your idiot players in the right direction and probably aren’t secretly evil

Druid- your settings and maps are PHENOMENAL! Listening to you describe the playing field sounds like the beginning of an ancient epic. You probably home brew a lot as well, and are pretty ok with mounts and familiars (many DMs aren’t!)

Paladin- you’re a slut for minis and the classic table set up, even if you dont typically play that way. Most likely to use actual battle strategies in combat. also the story you build is the most important thing to you, you’ll let players get away with weird asks in the name of a dope ass tale

Fighter- theres nothing is sexier to you than a complex villain. Your favorite part of DMing is the villain, dropping hints about who they are, tossing in some minions. The drama babey

Monk- WORLDBUILDING! Whether it’s the 5e material or homespun, the planes and the worlds are so fun. This makes for really overarching stories that are really fun! You’re in it for the long-con but it’s so worth it

Ranger- your maps are amazing and boy oh boy do you love a forest setting. You’re overall balanced in terms of getting to combat, quests and Rp!

Rogue- calm down edgelord not every backstory needs to be tragic. You LOVE tormenting your players. BBEG reveal BOOM! That friendly NPC betrayed you BOOM! You live for the drama. who said DND couldn’t be a soap opera?

Sorcerer- does the least session prep but can improv like a legend so nobody can tell. You like to roll random dice and go “hm. Interesting” just to freak your players out and home brew your own monsters

Warlocks- dream sequences sure are fun, huh? You love to give your players ultimatums, magical or not. The most likely to turn their players against one another for the fun of it.

Wizard- you own every dnd book, and also might be a bit of a rules lawyer. You know absolutely everything about magic but always have to look and see what weapon uses which dice. However, you love to make physical copies of in-game letters and props to give your players at the table which is really sexy of you.

It had been almost a year since Milou ran from the pirate life, even less time had passed since she snatched some geezers weird book.

The alcohol was starting to hit and every thought eventually led back to whether or not she had made the right choice

Her reflection in the drink reflected a trickster, a murderer, a thief. Lying low was the best she could do, hell, maybe faking her death might be a better call than... just running all the time. Maybe she could get a new name, start a business not that shed know how to start such that up.

Her mind began to wonder if the book held any value. Pawn it off and use the coin to go back home maybe.

Then the door opened and a human, barely an adult, stumbled in. She looked like she was in a hurry but also a bit lost.

"Maybe I could help?"

"Whats the worst that could happen?"

While these two thoughts flitted through the boozy haze, her hands coiled the copper wire around a finger, and with a shaky hand cast her first spell.

Now that we're talking about game criticism. I also have an Opinion: Anyone who criticizes Shadowheart and Lae'Zel for being racist, ignoring their backgrounds and upbringing, while being completely fine with Astarion's racism, such as towards the Gur people, the kobolds (who are in fact, intelligent beings, not just "animals"), as well as his comments about orcs (I think there's a line he says "empty as an orc's skull" when you click on an empty box), etc. Or Gale and his Rashemi comment when he first met us (Rashemi are actual ethnic human group in this setting, I think?) Are operating on a very different and questionable standards. Now I'm not excusing racism, even fantastical ones, and I am of an opinion that making atleast 5 of your companions racist kinda... blegh (especially when it's treated as something quirky and not, you know, an actual thing that should be addressed). However, excusing certain characters their immoral behavior but at the same time dragging other characters down kinda reveal a double standard in the fandom as well.

The dialogue about kobolds made me laugh just bc i know someone who loves their kobold oc dearly and astarions random hatred towards them threw me off and felt comical since i’m like, i guess pro-kobold? its this long train of thought. Basically, i only know ppl who play dnd that are lgbt/POC, so theyre more likely to play more...unusual characters types (like kobold) compared to the “norm”. And i forget, i always forget, cishet white men are actually the ones running mainstream dnd. I forget until someones says like “i hate kobolds” or “tieflings are inherently untrustworthy” or “i play a human fighter” and then im like oh riiiiiiight... those types of people exist huh

The weirdest dialogue that made me Cringe Real Hard was when youre talking to wyll (whos the only black companion so far) and you can tell him he “reaks of privilege”. Ive read some articles about how theres a reoccurring trope of like, making white and alien characters have to deal with fantasy racism, while making the black characters either rich and “privileged” and/or fantasy racist themselves. It reminded me of that. Im guessing it could be considered that trope, actually.

I can already tell what kinda bad shit is going to happen in fandom spaces. Hense why, i dont want to tag anything. I just want to chill and love tieflings in my corner.

190: My 1st job was: lifeguard in the summer after 9th or 10th grade i think? it was decently fun. i grew up swimming competitively so the swimming part was a breeze. the remembering what to do if someone is drowning part? a bit harder. memory bad. what to do if someone has a potential broken spine/head injury when they’re in deep water? i don’t know bud. but it involves 3 whole people to get them out. 2 in the water, one person at all times holding their head in line with the rest of their body, the other one strapping them to the board (these two people in the water switch off, too) and then one person standing on the side of the pool looking very concerned. also don’t tell anyone but sometimes if i had like a 6 am shift i would get really groggy and almost fall asleep on the stand.

180: Marriage is: whatever people make of it but unfortunately bogged down with like a lot of societal expectations. to me it just sounds like hanging with your “best” friend until you die but a lot of other people interpret it differently.
