i talked about why i find the argument people love to use as an excuse as to why shiekah tech is all gone in totk that "they destroyed it bc they were afraid of it" dumb before many times so i wont go over my past points in detail again

- i was just reminded of that and thought of new points to rant about going from that, no evil intentions in mind just when sth is mentioned again after some time i think about it again and can come up with more stuff-

(past points being- how?? shiekah tech seemed pretty indestructable, especialyl the big structures; it seemed like it was a literal holy thing for alot of people in the game; that it would be pretty damn stupid to spend so much energy and probably endanger people to dismanlte it since that time and energy would be better used rebuilding important infrastrucutre instead; if it stopped working why wouldnt you just kinda .. leave it there; why in hells name would you get rid of the shrine of life .. and i guess monk miz kyoshia with it???; shouldnt they be MORE afraid of sonau tech then??)

I would've done that but i like to be anonymous and I dont have any problem with your blog getting credits because I'm here just to learn and have fun.This isn't my main focus in life but I'm free for some months because of maternity leave(I'm 7 months in yayyyyy!!)I'm probably the oldest person on this blog too ig because i dont think anyone on this blogs a 92liner.

I came up with something more and this is something i'd REALLY like for you to give your more than two cents on.

So I started this study like a year ago and its about the possible placements your fs can have.i kept doing it for a while and then i thought about how juno,bride,groom,dsc PC's would be much better to guess the fs chart.

By studying his bpc and his NC I have a few guesses about his fs' possible placements/dominants.

1.she IS definitely having strong cancer placements.(no explanation needed)

2.it can also be that she may have strong 4h placements OR can be moon dominant.(if not the 1st guess then this)

3.mars in 10h or cap mars or mars in a cap degree.(guaranteed success)

4.leo placements or degrees or prominent 5h placements.(creativity,childlike,fame,etc)

5.sun in 10h or sun at leo/cap degree.(same as 3 and 4 guess)

6.pluto-venus aspects,Venus/lilith/pluto in 8h/1h.(magnetism,envy,jealousy,obsession,inference,rich spouse)

7.virgo rising or its degrees on asc.(she's blunt and a bit sharp)

8.gemini Venus or venus in Gemini degrees.(this venus sign is compatible with libra venus and he has geminivenusin bpc too also talking about her having venus-pluto aspects this sign kinda suits it)

9.Sun/moon/saturn aspects.(daddy issues)

10.jupiter in 2h,4h or 11h.(rich family background,big communities, finances and luxuries)

11.this one is random but i see her with a leo mc or an Aries mc OR mc in those degrees.the possible risings with these mc's could be cancer,leo,Libra,scorpio.

12.the above 4 rising signs make the most sense to me.when it comes to his fs I imagine someone soft but sharp.she MAY have these rising signs with virgo degrees.

I have more guesses but they're random.

Talking about the age gap thing,my husband has two stelliums of scorpio and virgo with Libra Moon and I'm 7 years younger than him so ig we wont have to worry too much about Jk's age gap choice because i dont think he'll go for someone MORE younger than 5-7 years of age gap.

-> For the age gap, I don"t wanna assume things but it doesn't seem like jk will marry that late and I saw some readers say they'll have 10 years of difference of something but in I absolutely don't see it?? On his chart, I saw placements that indicates 1-2 to 5 years of difference max? She is not that young compared to him. She LOOKS very young, but she isn't, this is what I see! The cancer placements are always very tricky lmao! And if people keep saying they'll be together in 2027 (JK's Saturn return, he will be 29) so 19 if ten years of difference???? idk that seems odd to me, I don't sense it. I feel like she'll be working and be in her successful time at the time!

dess-ember day 31/31

hi yall

today i bring my final entry!! i cant believe i made it

its a dess ref, but after the events of deltarune, where i imagine she will be freed

fun fact, i actually made the dess ref i still use exactly a year ago, so thats neat ^^

im not sure if I will keep this design for her being older (the age i usually draw her as is like 15 or 16), but i feel like it turned out okay

i made her a researcher (she researches things to do with souls and magic, things that exist in deltarune but arent really known about in my headcanons), but im unsure if it was the right choice. i imagine she got stuck with gaster in the code for a couple of years, but before that she didnt know what she wanted to do with her life. the way I see it, the gaster in the code with her is the one from undertale, so he has a lot of knowledge on magic and stuff, and learning about it was interesting and helpful for her, and after she got out she wanted to share her knowledge and learn more.

as i said, i dont know if this was a good choice of career, considering she wasnt really the type to become a researcher, but she also changed when she was in the code, so idk. i might change it later.

and for her design, i tried to keep her unruly look as much as possible, despite her job. i changed her hairstyle, keeping it short but giving her a side part and little hair pieces in front of her ears.

i also gave her glasses. i imagine shes needed them for awhile, but she didnt want to look like a nerd 😂 now shes just accepted her fate. i also gave her piercings on her ears, just as a callback to some of my older drawings of her, where i gave her piercings there too.

for her outfit, i gave her a pair of basic dress pants, and a turtleneck (because i love turtlenecks a bit too much lol). and then i gave her a green jacket/coat thing, cause i had to keep her with green, ofc.

and for accessories, i gave her a watch (to match with noelles watch), and i gave her a bracelet with noelles sweater colors. i also gave her a white ring on her left hand, because when i looked it up that was where aro rings were (i hope thats accurate lol).

and thats it, my final entry! its so weird that im here, i didnt think i would make it. i thought id get bored, or too busy, or run out of ideas or something, but i made it. there was a lot of struggle sometimes, and there was ideas i had planned that i never got to, but i feel like it really helped me, having this month. ive definitely gotten better at drawing dess, and i feel like my anatomy and posing had gotten better ^^. though, i dont know if ill do this again. it was difficult, and next year ill be in college, so i might be too busy. i guess we will just wait and see 😁

during this month, ive also thought a lot about dess in general. i have so many thoughts and ideas involving her, yet we still have such little knowledge on her. its weird, i have this whole dess created, but one day she will become obsolete, and we will see who dess actually is. i dont know how to feel about it. but, until we actually see dess, i plan to keep drawing my dess, and i might keep drawing her after we see dess, it just depends. even if im nervous to see her, i cant wait either!

but thats enough of my ramblings, im sure nobody read all that, so for a tldr, i just talked about why i designed older dess like that, my thoughts on my dess-ember, and my thoughts on dess ^^

Ive been meaning to post this for a while, so uh.. ye.

Ok before i start, its stoopid o clock and im incapable of wording rn, so bear with me.

I am very much confusion.

So im questioning the possibility of being a demigirl?

Im afab and up until maybe a year ago, have felt pretty comfortable as a girl. Then i started feeling more nonbinary-ish but also female, but i was convinced i was just overreacting. I thought i was just subconsciously making it up for attention (idk how else to describe it, but hope dat makin sense). I was just tryna squish all those feelings down bcuz i was sure they weren't real. I didn't realise it was a thing, to be both non binary and female, and i felt just so invalid.

Then the other day me and my friend were talkin abt her new oc, and she said they were a demigirl. I asked wat dat was and she explained to the best of her knowledge. I just stood there open mouthed and while i didnt say anything, i was screaming inside.

WAIT WTF THATS BEEN AN OPTION THIS WHOLE TIME. WHAT. THE. FUCK. WHAAAAT.

That night i did sum research and i thought i was definitely a demigirl. The feeling comes and goes tho, and sometimes i feel more nonbinary, but for the most part i feel much more female. I still feel like im probably a demigirl, but im just kinda confused.

Idk why i made this post, ig i just needed to tell someone, cuz im not ready to tell anyone irl (partly cuz i still dont trust my own feelings) (i mean wut i said. theres sum weird shit goin on in my head lol)

I guess i also wondered if theres maybe sum demigirl/boy (or anyone rly) out there, to just tell me that my feelings are valid (or that theyre complete bullshit, if thats the case).

And if youre homophobic/transphobic/just dont agree with the concept of demigirls/boys, then i dont need your input. Its really not helpful.

Emily lived au and is now an FBI agent lol.

I've had this idea in my head a while now and just got the urge to write it. Perhaps in the future there'll be more to this (since I really should not be starting ANOTHER multi-chapter) but depending on how well this is received, I may or may not write another chapter- idk yet. Anyway the premise is: What if Emily survived, became an FBI agent and began to investigate the X-Files in this year of 2022/23? That's pretty much it.

Also, thank you X-Files archive book for essentially being Mulder/Emily's case files for this fic. I will be depending you on heavily in the future.

This is definitely more Emily as the main character fic and m/s and msr in general is just in the background but m/s will definitely be making their appearances here and there- the xfiles are theirs after all.

Also, idk how the FBI works and I didn't do any research before writing this so I probably got tons wrong. I'm sorry

The gravel crunches beneath the wheels, signalling her arrival before she even got to the front door. In front of her, she spies a shift in the blind and the brief appearance of a face before it disappears and the blind shifts back to its original position. She was always so good at showing up unannounced.

Emily exits her rental, not bothering to lock the doors (benefits to living in the middle of nowhere) and climbs up the creaky porch steps. She doesn’t even need to knock. She listens to the familiar sound of a thousand locks be unlocked, a wisp of a smile gracing her lips at the memory of coming home from school in winter and having to wait what felt like hours in the freezing cold just to be let in, with November’s chill in the air she could almost be twelve years old again right now.

Eventually the door is unlocked and open wide, revealing Mulder, her father, in the doorway.

“Welcome home, Special Agent Sim,” he says.

A blush spreads across her cheeks and she turns her head down. The title still sounded brand new, like it should belong to somebody else, not little old ill her.

“I guess I never did thank you for fudging the medical records, did I?”

“They’re irrelevant,” Mulder says. “But I knew they wouldn’t accept you into the academy if they saw them so…” he shrugs the rest of the sentence away. “What brings you all the way here anyway?” He moves out of the way, allowing her entry.

She tries not to let the question sting. It’s just a question after all but since moving to DC finding time to come back to her childhood home just didn’t seem available, even phone calls had come few and far between. She told herself it was fine when Will was still home fulltime, perhaps her presence wasn’t missed as much but once her brother moved away to college she should have made more of an effort.

Stepping through to the living room, Emily sits down on the couch, followed shortly by Mulder.

“I have a question actually,” she says once he’s seated. “Before you left the FBI, did you bring any files home with you?”

A darkened look crosses his face. “What kind of files?”

“Just…files.” Her hands move to her lap, fingers fidgeting with each other. “Old files. Unsolved…cases.”

Mulder sighs. “You mean the X-Files.”

She knows her excited look betrays everything.

“Can I ask why you’re asking about them?”

“Curiosity?” Emily sighs. “I overheard people in work talking about them. There’s a rumour they might assign someone to them and if I could have the background on some past cases, see your methods, then I might be able to snag myself the job.”

Mulder stares at you. “This is the job you want?”

Truthfully, no, but her observation skills had been on point since she was a child. Hiding in shadows where nobody would think to look, Emily would observe and listen to what was being said. How many nights did she creep downstairs and overhear conversations between her parents about the X-Files? Knew how much they meant to Mulder, and to fall into the hands of somebody who didn’t care, files and cases that meant nothing to them, Emily couldn’t bear the thought while she was right there. These files, this department, it was almost like a birth right, she had to be the one to man them.

There was another reason too, a personal one. Her name was in one of those files. EMILY SIM. The little girl who bled toxic green blood, who was poked and prodded at, whose cyst scar sits at the back of her neck, hidden from all eyes. There was so much she didn’t know about herself, so much Mulder and her mother kept secret. These files could hold those answers if she looked hard enough.

She doesn’t say all that to Mulder, however. Not once had she brought any of this up before, perhaps waiting for them to tell her instead. They never did. Instead they fudged medical records and told her to stay safe, do not bleed that green blood.

“It’s only right, isn’t it?” she says. “For me to do it and not let someone who doesn’t care or has a totally different agenda investigate them?”

She watches Mulder think it over. Emily knew in his spare time he still looked into X-Files-esque cases but he was no longer a special agent with unique access, those he knew that had that access where all gone, it was just him and Scully with Mulder trying to do what he could from a computer with a dodgy internet connection. But then there was her- Emily- the key to unlock those doors.

“Follow me,” he says, standing.

She does so, venturing into his office. She lingers near the desk whilst Mulder heads over to the filing cabinet. She spies all his alien paraphernalia that clutters the space and smiles. This room was a museum of Mulder’s life, for all the stories it held, and for that reason it was her favourite room in the house.

On the wall she spies the poster. She wanders over to it. It was the same one that had sat in the basement years ago- Yes, she knew about that basement office of course- and now had found its home here. I want to believe stares back at her and she wonders if he does believe now.

“Here they are,” Mulder says, calling her attention back to him. She walks over to where he stands, one of the drawers open, files filing it completely.

Breath caught, Emily stares down at them. One file and all her questions could be answered. Her stomach twists uncomfortably at the thought. Maybe they kept it a secret for a reason, perhaps she didn’t really want to know.

“Not every file is in here,” he tells her and Emily nods. “Those that are were either saved from the fire or recreated by me or someone else. There’s also a lot of missing evidence or it’s been redacted and maybe there just useless but it’s all I have, all anyone has ever been able to find. Hopefully you can gauge something from them.”

She nods again and Mulder begins taking them out, piling them onto her outstretched hands. They did good, Emily thinks all down at the growing pile. There was more than enough here.

“And another thing.”

“Yes?”

“Don’t tell your mother you have these. She’ll kill me.”

There’s a smile on his face so she smiles as well.

“She hasn’t killed you yet.”

“True. But she would if she knew I was putting you in any danger.”

Emily frowns at that, memories of Dana making sure she was always safe and careful appear before her. It was like you were fragile, like you could be broken at any second. You didn’t want that anymore and in your own act of rebellion you chose the riskiest job you could think of, ticked field agent on your application, was handed a gun and chased bad guys for a living, one wrong move and out that toxic green blood would spill.

“I’m a big girl now,” she says, no hint of a smile or joke. Mulder looks at you with sadness that sends the guilt right down to her stomach.

She coughs, attempting to lift the dour atmosphere that’s entered the room.

“Where is Mom anyway? Working?”

“Yeah,” says Mulder, surprised at the sudden change in topic. “She’ll be home soon.”

“You should tell her to retire. I’m sure there’s somebody else around who wants to change kid’s lives.”

Mulder shrugs. “I keeps her busy.”

She makes a noise in agreement, clutching the files, ready to go. She got what she came for and even said hello to a parent, more than enough for the next year, if she remembers to ring in the next six months she can pat herself on the back and say well done.

“Emily,” Mulder calls and it stops her in her tracks. “You should stay tonight. You’ve come all this way and Scully would love to see you again.”

She barged back into their lives without so much a word, one thing on her mind, and was about to up and leave again thinking she’d done her bit, the least she could do is eat some dinner and stay for one night.

“Yeah, I will.”

The red files stare up at her, tempting her to open one, to uncover their secrets. She told herself to wait until she was in the comfort of her own house, but there pull is strong, just a little peak—

“There you are.”

Her hand snatches back from the file quicker than it approached it. Emily spins, coming face to face with her mother in the doorway, and shuffles slightly to shield the files with her body.

“You don’t need to hide them,” Scully says, she eyes the spot where the files lay hidden behind Emily’s body, like she can see straight through her daughter and to the contraband on the bed. “Mulder told me, I knew there was something he wanted to say.”

Emily relaxes, shifting to the side to reveal the files. Sadness passes across Scully’s face at the sight of them.

“Why Emily?”

Emily plops down onto the bed, worrying one of the edges of the files.

“Because it’s the right thing to do. If they’re really reopening them then it should be me who does it.”

Scully enters the room, picking up one of the files.

“Have you opened it yet?”

Emily shakes her head.

“You’re worried you’ll find your name in there?”

“Will I?”

Scully sighs, placing the file back down. “You’re file was lost.”

“In the fire?”

“Long before that. I tried to find it one day and it wasn’t in the cabinet anymore. Mulder doesn’t know what happened to it…Not that you need your file…”

Emily waits. She stopped getting her hopes up that her mother would reveal answers to her long ago. Now she just waits, never hoping, just waiting.

“Do you have a partner?”

No answers from Dana Scully tonight it seems.

“Do I need one?”

Scully nods. “It’s better to. This work can be…lonely. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone to be alone with.”

Emily nods. “I’ll find someone.”

“How long are you staying for?”

“One night,” Emily answers. “I really do need to get back.”

It’s Scully’s turn to nod then.

“You should visit more. It’s quiet here now that William’s gone to college and Mulder could do with the company.”

“Yeah,” Emily answers, an idea striking her. “I think I will visit more.”

“Good. We’ll call you when it’s time for dinner, okay.”

Emily smiles. She really could be twelve years old all over again.

“Yeah. Thanks.”

She watches Scully leave and once out of sight, picks up one of the files. It can’t wait until she gets home. Tonight she’ll read each one of them, as carefully and critically as she can. This department is hers.

Snuggled up in her old childhood bed, the bedside lamp casting the room in an orange glow, the wind howling through the trees outside, the files sit, unmoved, on the bed, a messy pile. Emily picks the first one up at random.

TOOMS, Eugene Victor.

This case Emily knew of already. It was told to her as a bed time story of sorts when she was younger, the image of Tooms stretching his way down a chimney, like some fucked up Santa Claus, would stay with her forever. Some of the earlier cases were told to her as stories but her mother soon put a stop to them when Emily had become the unwelcomed member in her bed at night.

She was about to turn the page, to read the less redacted version of this story when she is submerged into darkness. She’d almost forgotten about this house and it’s power cuts always at the worst time.

An old habit, Emily roots through the top drawer in her bedside table in search of the candles that resided in her. Picking one out, she roots through her jean pockets on the floor for her lighter. In a quick, practiced motion, the candle is lit and placed beside the lamp. It was a poor substitute to the much brighter lamp but what was one to do? Satisfied, Emily picks up the file again, glancing over the front page. A shiver runs through her.

“It’s fine,” she says to herself. “Reading creepy old case files by candlelight. Completely normal.”

She turns the page. With the exception of a couple of names having been redacted, it’s mostly readable. Emily quickly reads through it, an echo of her mother’s voice sounding inside her head as she does so. She turns to the next page, the lifeless, soulless stare of Eugene Victor Tooms’ mugshot stares back at her. Another shiver as she curses poor light and bad 90s camera quality, she quickly passes over to the page next to it- Tooms’ lie detector test, on and on until she reaches the next Tooms’ file, the one that documents his demise. Good, Emily thinks, tossing it aside and picking up the next.

Halfway through reading the Peacock file does something hit the window startling Emily out of reading with a jump. She closes the file with a bit more force than necessary and puts it on the floor with the rest of them. She’ll read the rest in the morning. In daylight. With the sounds of her father pottering away downstairs and not the creaks and bangs of an old farmhouse in the middle of the woods.

hii, i was wondering if u had some advice for getting into worshipping deities, i kinda have a feeling that i'd like to work with apollo and dionysus and i've started to just research apollo but i'm unsure how to go about things or if i wanna work with them and stuff i should and shouldn't do

about going into worship hmm

just kinda do research and find out if you want to work with them (you can still worship without working with deities)

if you just want to worship a deity its cool to just start to do that like pray and make offerings sometimes (if youre not sure if its okay you can ask a deity using a pendulum!)

but if you want to work with them then like i said do research, get to know their aspects and what they help with and then you can just kinda wait till they give you a sign (cus its really easy to attract a deitys attention just researching them or talking about them)or you can reach out to them yourself and just ask if theyre interested in working with you (you can do that using pendulum,tarot, whatever works for you)

and then you just kinda talk about what you want their help with and boundaries and all that and then you talk some more (about a possible altar, about what they maybe see you need help with as well, you can ask them if they want to tell you something)

and yeah that's how it looks like in my case

stuff you should do is probably just be respectful

you can talk casually but with respect

uhh ive heard about checking on offerings so they wont get moldy

and basically just work hard to be the better version of yourself like they will probably advice you to

and dont treat Apollo and Dionysus like only gay memes or sth cus i know there are people who think theyre those funny gay uncles but theyre more than that so make sure you treat them with respect /nm /lh

dont be scared to ask them questions if youre unsure about something

dont think theyre going to punish you for making mistakes just be relaxed and feel the comfort they give you

and uhhh if you get the feeling you want to work with them just go with it cus it might as well be a sign but idk for sure so its better to confirm with them

what i would add from myself as a tiny upg is ask their pronouns! cus i used to refer to dionysus as a male and he/him pronouns but she told me shes actually a woman and uses she/her pronouns (just god things i guess) so now i use those for her but shes okay with calling her w god,deity,goddess or whatever other name but yeah ask pronouns i think deities change for different practitioners so like idk 😶 hope i helped somehow!! good luck kid!:3

empires S1 - I don't think their characters interact that much but god I wish they had more because their dynamic could be so interesting to me. i've been thinking about S1 gem a lot recently and how weird a character she is and i think it would have made sense for her to be close with shubble because of her whole Last of her kind deal, PLUS her knowledge of the corruption.. gem to me is very much a researcher and scholar and i think they could have started a weird Thing that neither of them are really sure of what it is (shrub is a few years younger and has never been in a relationship, while gem isn't really sure if she even has feelings for shrub at all..) I'd like to believe they reunited some years after the rapture and end up living somewhat happily 💙 sorry nature wives fans ilike it too especially in S2 but this one just makes sense to me

YES i like treebark so much because it helped me start to like martyns character a bit more. Sorry. But before I thought about treebark (only in the last like six months. and like the short bit before last life dropped) I associated him wholly with the watchers stuff and I just didn't really care about him at all but seeing a few things made me Think and now i really like them both. Far from my faves I could not go analysing them or whatever but idk. Actual definition of "keep your dog on a leash" but the dog is a human and also its Martyn not the guy with dog in his name. The fact he originally intended to betray him but ended up staying loyal and then only had that betrayal arc three seasons later when ren was conveniently not around to see it. Hi Friday. 👋 What did you think of the last genshin update?

HI DORIAN !! IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET TO THIS.. im puttingn this under a readmore because it is VERY. Very. very long ^.^

if u mean 4.0, then i think i'd say overall it was really fun. my favorite parts of genshin are exploring + doing puzzles + learning lore so i ate that update UP!!! the new puzzles are super satisfying and just the right amount of difficult.

as for the main story, i don't have a whole bunch to say other than there were times where the traveler made decisions that didn't really fit what we have learned from them in the past, esp with the whole part where they didn't trust lyney + his siblings for being fatui. i guess it's more of a trust thing / about them hiding it?? i also really wish they delved a bit more into Why furina puts up such a huge act, because that isnt explained in 4.0 Or 4.1's quests. maybe 4.2 will tell! i also really loved navia. i think she's one of my favorite characters despite my. near-constant show of love for neuvillette.. i like that she is still actively processing things because we can already start to see her perspectives shift as the quests progress.

as for any side quests, ann of narzissenkreuz made me feel sort of hollow-empty but i tend to feel that way with the several-part quests before they reach their true end. i was definitely invested in that one..

all of the merusea village quests made me emotional as well because i just love the melusines to bits+pieces. aside from mamere i think my favorite quest was where we helped the melusines make a little cake/pie of sorts.

lyney's story quest made me cry and it really cemented the though that he *is* me (/srs) because of. well. the everything. i'd rather you see his quest / read his character stories for yourself because it's a bit hard to explain when it hits so close to home.

um. as for 4.1. i think exploring is still so fun in fontaine. i love all the new enemies + again the puzzles are soo fun :3

however the archon quest seemed to really drag on for this patch.. i think that was intended but at times i definitely had to take breaks and do other stuff because it just seemed to carry on endlessly. also. i don't really like that the fortress of meropide essentially relies on the prison industrial complex that exists in real life- not because it's bad to include real life issues and events in video games, but because it. is not really frowned upon in any way / is encouraged at times?

i really liked the fontaine research institute quest but i. don't like the main characters. lmfao

neuvillette's story quest made me feel like i got hit by a bus + then tried to stand up but then i got ran over by a semi truck. before this update i was already very emotional over how much he seems to value his people + their feelings + beliefs despite having to uphold "justice" in its truest form, as well as. well. the melusines as a whole. i'm not going to get into it very much bc idk how much of the quests you've done, but i. also cried several times over this one. lol.

i'm hoping wriothesley's story quest will be just as good because his character story leaks have made me emotional because i can heavily relate to it, but. well. who knows.

i think overall these two updates have made me feel so so strongly for navia, neuvillette, and sigewinne. i don't exactly know what to expect from 4.3 + onwards!!!

but let’s try to just hit a few important things, shall we?

Dragon Fly is book 1 in a proposed duology (or possible trilogy, idk). It follows Catherine (17) who works in a small group of teens/young adults at the Department for Magical Research. It’s the last haven for magical animals in the whole country. Catherine’s younger sister is dying of an incurable disease, and she is frantically searching for a cure. It looks hopeless until the day when six horrifically injured dragons are brought to their doorstep — dragons who burned a whole city to the ground. But Catherine’s research has hinted that the dragons might be the key to helping her sister…and there’s a whole nest of corruption, pain, and politics waiting to be uncovered. Very important things for me:

I read lots and lots of YA fantasy. The vast majority of the protagonists are female. And most of them look the same. Aside from my queen Nina Zenik, I have found hardly any plus size female protagonists in Ya Fantasy. And that, my friends, is heartbreaking. I wanted to write a teenage protagonist who is plus size like me — but I didn’t want this to be a book about body insecurity. It’s about body joy. Of course Cath has her moments of insecurity, but she has found how to feel strong and beautiful in her body, and she relishes that. I want people to know you can be Fat and kick tail and ride dragons. But the book doesn’t just address plus size joy, either: it discusses the body or just plain enjoyment shaming the media directs at literally everyone who doesn’t fit their perfect imaginary box. It’s the girls with muscles and the boys who wear skirts. It’s literally anyone and everyone. And we all deserve to feel beautiful in our skin, n matter our gender or clothes size.

the world is very similar to earth, which is one of the dangers. It’s losing its magic. It’s so fun to mix magic and technology together and watch the sparks fly.

girl friendship!!! Not just the MC and her bestie, either — girl friendship groups where we support each other and have each others backs and support our different belief systems and viewpoints and cultures. All my girls are so different with different personalities and I love the way they connect and support each other. platonic relationships can be the most powerful you’ll ever have in your life. I hate hate hate when YA puts so much emphasis on romance being this end all game. Friendships can run the deepest and most powerful too.

mental health. Catherine struggled with anxiety and depression, including a brief period of time pre book when her struggles with suicidal ideation were particularly apparent. I wanted to include the very real aspects of this.

guess what? Her parents aren’t dead, either. They’re divorced. This book is all about complicated family dynamics — sisters, mothers and daughters, families both born and found. DRAGONS AHHHH I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH BUT I WOULD KILL FOR A DRAGON EGG.

let’s just say I love the feeling of power when beta readers say they love this particular character to death and I’m like….hehe well book 2 will take you up on that offer

Oh! The mustache thing and David. Okay, okay. It still feels kinda weird to say someone is racist over this, but yeah, now that you point it out I see it. I had a childhood friend who got in a foreign exchange student program for a year in high school and when she came back she told us how since the gringos couldnt say her name properly they just defaulted to calling her "Brazil" 😑

I feel a bit called out about twitter, even if its true and I'm only there cuz I'm an addict being held hostage. I've also curated my fandom experience, but I was really needing more info and saw stuff that bummed me out while researching 🥲🥲 I dont mind seeing people criticize characters cuz like we are all entitled to our opinion even if I disagree, but I guess it kinda shocked me still. I guess I forgot about how in some ship wars I participated in when I was 13 some people would call the other characters rapists and stuff after being away from typical fandom toxicity for so long lol.

About the tone shift: yeah I did, but it didnt feel "drastic", just different. In a bad way. Like one of the first metas I read talked about how Devi lacked autonomy in season two and I was like YES THAT WAS WHAT I WAS THINKING even thought not really I was just "wait why is this feeling a bit off... weird... let me play the next episode and just hope is merely a vibe" I dont hate season 2 as much as you seem to, however season 1 and 3 are indeed superior. Season 3 is my favorite out of the three because I really like how the characters matured. A favorite episode is probably 1x10, like the scene of Nalini with dr. Ryan moves me, then Ben driving cackles me up, then I back to being moved by them spreading Mohan ashes with beautiful day playing, then boys like you as "you stayed" and benvi kiss and paxton calling and back to the kiss and I'm like OMG WHAT IS SHE GOING TO DO I HAVE CLASS TOMORROW AND ITS ALMOST TWO BUT FUCK I NEED TO KEEP WATCHING THIS. I always feel like that when I'm rewatching even if it's not two am and I dont have class the next day lmao

You are going to think I'm super horny but probably "why don’t you show me the bitty spark you’ve been saving for his mattress?". It's the one I reread the most after all. The awkwardness of the situation?? Their great characterization??? Devi having no idea of what to do with Ben of all people making her feel like that??? Fab and Eleanor still unsure about him at school and being cutely protective of Devi??? Ugh, just kill me already (please dont)

"you're gonna fall (but i'll catch you)" is also great! I love to read adults au for shows about hs characters and hs aus for shows about adult characters idk why but there are not enough adult aus for nhie in my opinion and yours is my fave!!! Plus Ben being so into stories is adorable as someone who really sees herself in Abed Nadir. Plus the way is not just about their romance but also Devi dealing with grief and her complicated relationship with her mother and self destructive tendencies and... ugh I just love it.

It still feels kinda weird to say someone is racist over this, but yeah, now that you point it out I see it. - i think the disconnect comes from the way fandom uses words like 'racist' to build cases about how it's Objectively Wrong for anyone to like a certain character, whereas the word itself applies to a whole spectrum of behavior and morality. like, it shouldn't actually be that uncomfortable to admit that ben can be and is sometimes racist, he is a walking definition of privilege. him internalizing racist sentiment should hardly be surprising. but it also doesn't make him irredeemable scum. he's obviously a really caring character, as well.

on a related note, yikes @ those students who committed micro-aggressions to your childhood friend. as they get further and further into their life, may they reflect and do better rather than double-down.

I dont mind seeing people criticize characters cuz like we are all entitled to our opinion even if I disagree, but I guess it kinda shocked me still. 15. DREAM JOB? oddly enough I'm not a huge fan of the whole concept of jobs and capitalism, not sure what that's all about. but tbh as far as jobs go, i kind of have my ideal job? I've always said I want to do a combination of part time social work and part time something academic, like maybe at one point teach at a university or be part of a research team or something. And whilst that's stil far away I feel like I mightttttt be on a good path to get there which is honestly wild and incredibe and I don't want to jinx it!!

i tried making a "better" bike i saw on a youtube tutorial, one perfectly aligned. mine lists a bit so i thought it would be good. but idk...firstly idk if i did it right but seciondly the steering is more sensitive but almost TOO sensitive. ive gotten very used to the other one!! so im keeping both in my favs for now.

the new bike also like. struggles more carrying koroks. it's more sensitive to everything, including the weight imbalance. i do like the turning! but.

vicious by v e schwab review yippee!!! spoilers under the cut

not my first book of the year but i finished it like 20 mins ago so. :) huge rant incoming!

first off i was entertained so that means its already pretty good. second i Loved the stuff in the beginning, talking about them doing research, experimenting, stuff like that. i guess i was in the mood for dark academia lol. i did wish there was more of that though, i wanted more of the research, more of the actual experimenting with basically killing themselves and being brought back to life shit cause that was epic. i fucking love it when crazy people especially crazy academics get so obsessed with their work it drives them even more insane. big fan. also,,,,,, ok not to be fucking gay but i kinda wish there was more stuff about their relationship in the beginning? like i didnt need them to make about but the whole aspect of trusting each other to both kill them and bring them back to life.....knowing someone so well you know that they'll do literally any crazy ass idea you come up with.... literally being remade by another person... OUHG. and i do wish there was more of the religious aspect too.... like maybe more of eli's backstory? i know that it says it like once that he has scars from his religious father, but maybe it could have talked him about how that ties into him thinking its his purpose from god to kill other eos.... idk. oh yeah and maybe this is my fault but my idea of the book before i read it was that the kinda mystery of why vic and eli aren't friends any more but then it just kinda revealed it pretty early so i was a lil disappointed about that maybe the pacing was a bit weird? or maybe i was further along in the book than i thought oh well. but yeah i thought those bits were good. the stuff in the present wasn't as good in my opinion, like i liked sydney she was fun and all, and mitch was fine but he didn't feel all there or as 3 dimensional. and victor i guess i just couldn't tell what the reader was supposed to get out of him... like he would kill people and feel like no remorse and then like go be nice to sydney or whatever and usually that would work for me like aww soft murder dude love him but here it idk didn't work as well he kinda was just a dude. like ok you shot and killed and tortured a cop. whatevs i'd love to do that. also this is on me but for some reason i could only picture him as percy from the critical role show with a top hat so that made him way less menacing to me idk. thats my bad lmao. anyways i think it was definitely a solid book and from the other stuff ve schwab wrote i can for sure see how she's improved which is cool but yeah. i'd say a solid 3.75 stars out of 5 for me rant over now
