more self-indulgence!!

one part headcanons one part this is just how they are in my AU probably—uh... watching a parade? idk actually. i just. drew them.

because... i felt like it.... there are still missing characters because spider-man has five million supporting characters which is truly both a blessing and a curse (also like, i didn't include any foes or villains lmao but rest assured at least two of peter's rogues are queer...)

i decided this is like 2019 or something for?? no real reason other than i guess a lot of the adults finally being out or whatever... idk... that would make peter and his friends around 30-32 on average (well no felicia would be like 34) so still youngish but also definitely Adults™...

the kids are meant to be late teens early 20s but drawing that very specific age group is like, way difficult... also all the youths are short compared to peter's friend group of exclusively 5'9" to 6' people XD (well gwen and harry are shorter so i guess it's fine XD)

some of these are more firm than others. like. should randy be straight? i dunno. is aunt may straight or are all the alive parkers bisexual lmao? idk. what about literally all of the teenagers except andi? i have no clue and a lot of the stuff with them is waaaay later and I am not anywhere close to, so i just put them all in rainbows cause why not! but i do think janine is a token heterosexual in this instance lmao—see, not ALL of my AU versions of characters are queer, just most of them

also i'm going to put a few close-ups/crops below the cut just because it's hard to see them in the lineup without zooming in or w/e

obviously felicia and peter are bisexual and flash is... probably also bi? but i'm really still not sure... but she is trans :) and they're probably poly together but even after writing man-spider i'm genuinely... not actually sure if felicia is peter and flash's girlfriend or not 😂 they've got SOMETHING going on with the three of them but what it is, idk... i think peter is definitely polyamorous regardless, it's just a question of whether their relationship is or not.

obviously felicia's also into leather and bdsm and stuff (and so is peter...) so i included some little hints of that... but didn't bother including any of the kink flags cause there's only so much i can fit tbh a collar works well enough.

i made his tie teal satin because of the teal ribbon for sexual assault awareness. but just a hint, cause i don't think he would be comfortable being public about that. he's out and proud as a bi jewish dude with a trans wife but he's really not out about being a survivor to anyone except a few very close and trusted friends/family. similar for kaine. so a teal necktie is just something for him. he's been through a lot in his life but he's happy 🙂

anyway i think i made flash's hair shorter than it's supposed to be here but it's fine, maybe she got a trim or something

supportive aunts!! i already established like 3 years ago or something in some offhand line that MJ's aunt is an Eccentric Lesbian (huh wonder where she got that from—) so i'm sticking with the lesbian spinster aunt there. I don't know about Aunt May though. I always kind of waffled there on whether she's like straight, or bi... cause I like the thought of old ladies in love. I think maybe they have some kind of queerplatonic thing going on or something... either way she is proud of her boy :>

MJ I never know so I just go with the umbrella—she's Queer. What kind? Gender? Sexuality? Yes, (relatable)

What matters is that she is always Glamorous.

i don't have any deep reason for making Glory bi, i just thought it would be fun, and also cause I like Glory/MJ... they are so fun... they compliment each other so much... I know that can be a just straight gal pals thing but listen, i like it

Gwen is the lesbian who's a teeny tiny bit bisexual but mostly into women. Also: not dead. lmao.

Harry is 100% gay (and divorced) but I still don't know when/if he ever comes out. Liz will def be out as a lesbian by the late 20-teens though cause I think she starts exploring her sexuality w/in 3-4 years after she and harry get divorced... also cause i thought it would be funny if liz and lily (who i did not draw) hooked up LOL

i didn't draw the babies because i ran out of steam for that but they would be... what... i think normie might actually be in like 5th grade or something at this point now that i think about it... stanley would be like... 5 though

Hobie is bisexual almost entirely because when I read the newspaper strip and the prowler showed up, he and Peter were giving me Flirtation Vibes so he is bi, and also punk because I enjoy the aesthetic Spider-Punk has going on, so even though that's not going to be a thing in this universe, I still like to make some little nods to it. also it just feels like a fun combo. he's a kind of alt guy, he's not very straight, he's not very normal, he's had issues in his life trying to figure out who he wants to be... it feels like it just fits well... i like it

he gets MORE punk AFTER college and shaves half his head etc. (instead of having his twist-out), which is funny to me but you know, it takes time to figure shit out sometimes... i didn't draw his girlfriend Mindy (wife? idk if/when they get married in this AU...) cause like i said, omg, so many people to draw... also idk if she's like, straight or what. probably? there's gotta be SOME straight people XD how does she feel about hobie's fro-hawk...? hmm

ah, cain and abel ben (and janine)

Ben is bisexual... like Peter. They both prefer women to some extent, but they have slightly different tastes (...well maybe not SO different) and Ben is more uh, subby? LOL—at least with Janine. Switchy. Unlike Peter, Ben has/had? a crush on Robbie LMAO but that's more of a like, mentor/mentee admiration kind of thing... not like a "i wanna make out with you" situation. Robbie is far too old for him. and also happily married.

In my notes I have that Ben was ofc also abused by Warren but a lot of his was medical and psychological (some physical as well), but... i would think there is an undercurrent of medical sexual abuse there nonetheless esp as much of this w/ warren hinges on sexual power dynamics and control, but i won't get into that here as it's partly still being developed and I don't want to get TOO heavy on this post lol

Kaine is, like I mentioned, a little complex and i'm not 100% sure about (also aracely painted his nails) I think that he's ~bi/pan in general? but maybe not? could be only into men? or not into anyone at all. but the thing about Kaine in this universe is that he's got a difficult relationship with sex and sexuality because of what he was put through by Warren, so while I don't necessarily think he's asexual I do think in this universe he's a little bit sex-averse or sex-repulsed and has a difficult time dealing with that stuff. He also just really desperately wants to be loved and he doesn't care who as long as it's someone, which is toxic in a lot of ways i think... being around Aracely would imo help him a lot in coming to terms with having like, normal, platonic, non-sexual, non-romantic, healthy (or at least healthier) interpersonal relationships, and understanding things like that... idk where he's at by 2019 though, mental health-wise... but yeah i wasn't really sure what colors or patterns to put on his clothes so i went with the dark purple and gray tones since they are the kind of common recurring colors on a lot of ace-spec flags including repulsion and related stuff.

as a sidenote as someone who has a kind of aro and ??? relationship w/ my own bisexuality etc. (idk if i consider myself ace necessarily but it's not totally irrelevant) i also don't want to like, Just Make Him Ace because trauma (but obv betty is aro at least) cause it's not that simple etc etc etc but also there absolutely are people who consider themselves asexual from trauma or for whom it's informed by trauma (though trauma would inform any aspect of interpersonal relationships, of course, and for kaine it does)... idk idk kaine is always like, much to think about for me. He's def not like... "normal" in the eyes of cishet patriarchal culturally christian society. I mean he's disabled for one thing,

ofc peter has many similar traumas esp after meeting kaine and HE'S def not asexual (though peter is also disabled)

idk idk i am always thinking about it and never quite sure. kaine has a very complex and largely negative relationship with his body.

i was also considering genetic mosaicism (46,XY/47,XXY) but i did not include any intersex colors etc. because a lot of this wasn't fully hammered out yet when i drew this. I think Kaine is probably intersex though. It's not necessarily obvious to anyone who looks at him, but it's also not something that comes as a huge surprise to him.

obvs the tiny hint of a teal ribbon is the same as for Peter, sexual assault/abuse awareness, and it's small and easily hidden. probably was given to him by someone trying to be supportive (ben and janine maybe? idk)—i mean ALL of it is from other people really. the sticker on the noise cancelling headphones? def from Aracely or someone else. his presence in the first place? dragged out of the house by a 19 year old girl. he didn't even have time to do his hair and he would rather be drinking coffee in a dark room alone :/

Anyway, Janine. Less complicated.

I decided at some point Janine is straight (but not narrow, as they say) so she gets an ally shirt lol. Like Peter and Kaine, I put her in some teal including a little ribbon bow on some satin ballet flats—obviously her history as a sexual abuse survivor etc. is very, very public in contrast to peter and kaine (and arguably ben, though i don't think he necessarily conceptualizes his abuse by warren in the same way, in part because it was very medicalized) but... it's not like she would want to draw a lot of attention to that. but i also do just like teal so i think it looks nice.

like those are just genuinely cute shoes 😂 but also it's to tie it all together.

the kids, the teens, the youths,

i really don't... feel like i know enough about them to figure out sexualities or if any genders are involved, and I'm a million years away from including them in any fics so a lot of that stuff simply has not been built out right now cause finer details aren't relevant to me yet (like. i'm in 2007 rn? miles is like... 8. lmao), so I just put them in some fun rainbow-y stuff. teens like going to pride and wearing rainbows right??? i mean i did.

i'm SURE miles and ganke have got something going on i just don't know What Exactly. nerdy friends...? nerdy boyfriends?? something else??? miles is wearing a tracksuit to hide his spider-man costume lol.

aracely is an enigma, i don't think anyone knows what's going on with her tbh. she is there to have candy thrown at her. she seems to like boys at least a little though.

i actually do know what's up with Andi cause she's actually supposed to first appear in 200...8? when she's like. 10. she is trans, and she is also why Flash was able to accept herself more and also why Flash transitioned. Flash wanted to be a good role model to help Andi feel good about herself and to not make her feel like there was something wrong with her, and then later re: transitioning, Flash saw how happy Andi was and wanted to also... be happy like that even though she was scared. and Andi herself really was (will be, idk i never know what tense to use for this stuff) helped a lot by Flash trying to self-improve, by having a supportive babysitter, and a dad who loves her, and so on and so forth... makes a big difference!

Andi and Flash are kind of intentional contrasts here in that, where Flash took until her late 20s to really fully be able to accept herself, Andi is the kid who goes on puberty blockers in high school and knew right away she wasn't what everyone said she was. (Flash had like, hints of that, but really didn't even realize until around ~19 years old and wasn't able to act on it for like... 9 years whereas Andi just really got motoring lol)

also Andi is a lesbian 💖

As far as Betty! I wasn't sure about her at first but I was chatting with Kita and I was like, thinking about her relationships and stuff and thinking, you know, she seems kinda aro... and then i was like... I can just do that. If I want. So I did. so now Betty is aromantic (at least, in my little alternate universe) and ALSO bisexual 😂 Peter's social circle is just a bunch of quirky bisexuals. bi4bi4bi

also dolled the fuck up. Betty said "overdressed? i don't know her. a pearl necklace goes with everything." (...😜)

I also am not sure about Randy (he also just has not come up yet i guess...) but I was thinking, you know, IDK, maybe he's straight as well. two whole straight people. i know he's dated a couple of girls in 616 (...i mean... so have most of the male characters lol) including like, Norah... but I'm not 100% sure what I would do there. I did end up making him a little bit of a hipster 😂 he's probably like... heteroflexible or smth... 🤔

Maybe Randy is ALSO bisexual??? or queer of some flavor.............. at least seems to KNOW about community stuff

idek what the hell is going on with these four but Robbie and JJJ sure do run a bisexual-ass newspaper (...well now that i think about it peter doesn't technically work for them anymore by 2019 but i'm sure he drops the occasional photo) (still a lot of bisexuals)

jk jk there are plenty of other employees of presumably various sexualities including straight ones AND gay ones (probably?) but like, betty, glory, ben and peter are all bi here which struck me as amusing. Two 60-something year old men supportive by way of having a bunch of homos working at their newspaper. Also because it's funny to me to have Jameson be actually very chill about The Queers. something something "you don't tell me what to do in my private life, and i don't tell you what to do in yours!"

Narrative Frameworks in Only Friends

Something I have been tracking as part of the ongoing discussions about Only Friends is the use of the narrative framework for each episode.

So, I’m making this list specifically for tracking purposes, to note which framework was used for which episodes, if they repeat, and what they may be paying homage to. The goal is to update it every week. Due to suggestions, I am also tracking the end credit scenes, as well as any specific visual or audio formats used in the episodes.

Frameworks so far:

1. Voiceovers: gives the audience specific insight into a characters thoughts and feelings; also a great way to provide exposition. It’s more of an audio than visual framework, as we don’t always see the character doing the voice-over because it plays over other scenes.

2. “Talking Heads” (is there a better descriptor for this?): The characters talk directly to the camera, interview/documentary style. We get to see exactly how they feel about a given moment because they are reacting to it at that time. Audio and visual. Homage to Love8009 (per P'Jojo).

3. Social Media (ft The Artist Formerly Known as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook): Not as insightful as the other two frameworks but does give context and a way for interaction, commentary, and exposition on a given plot. Visual. Probable homage to Together With Me, one of the first spicy BLs starring our kings, MaxTul.

(Side Note: I was re-watching some scenes from Never Let me Go and realized P'Jojo uses yellow text on the screen in it too. So maybe he just likes the yellow text or maybe it means something, idk, idk.)

Discussion: Ding, dong! Are the narrative frameworks dead? P'Jojo posted on The Artist Formerly Known as Twitter some pictures that implied the talking heads framework was coming back; they included Sand, Ray and Boston (I cannot find the link to Boston's, if someone has it please let me know and I'll update the post). Their clothing matches up with this episode. Very clearly the framework was not used. This is the second time that P'Jojo has actively chosen to remove a framework from an episode (that we know of) and I'm super curious if he will say anything about why he cut it.

Having said that, do we think this means the frameworks are dead?

I had been positing that the show started out as a BL with the various frameworks and that we left the BL genre for a bit, with the idea that frameworks would be coming back as we headed back into the BL genre. I still think that is what the show is kind of doing, however, I'm waffling on if the frameworks are permanently gone. One one hand - they were used brilliantly and it was fascinating to watch. On the other hand - we haven't had them for five episodes and bringing them back now might feel jarring? The show also stands just as well on it's own without them.

Do we need them back? Is it better with them gone? Will we get them back?

I get the disappointment re: the lack of bojere content. We were all expecting more, especially after finding out that JO would spend so many days with him. But I don't think Jere hates bojere, considering how much he himself has willingly and knowingly fed us bojere enjoyers. But I do feel like he is afraid that his involvement and presence throws a shadow over JO, and really wanted JO to have their proper moment in Finland now, and not make it about him. And having been to both shows, I think it was the right call. I feel like even bringing Häärijä on stage on Saturday, while cute, was unnecessary and a bit of a mistake. Sunday's show was the perfect JO experience and I'm glad they got to have it and that Jere was able to enjoy it from the audience for once. And also he is on vacation and kinda in between "eras" right now, and JO is also moving on from ESC, so I feel them playing Cha Cha cha now would have felt weird. Idk, maybe they'll do something in July, when Jere is back to work, so to speak. Or maybe they won't. But I'm happy they'll at least get to meet again fairly soon. Especially when I think about last May and Jere crying, because he didn't know if he'd see bojan again. 🥺❤️ And I'll continue to wish for a proper collab song, so that they would always have an excuse to perform together if the opportunity arose and it wouldn't be awkward (like playing just Käärijä or JO song would be, I think)

man, anon, I don't even know why it's hitting me so hard. The weird thing is that I fully agree with everthing: him on stage would have been unnecessary and kinda setting a bad precedent, and I'm happy they keep their friendship private, as they should. (the friendship that is absolutely real and I never doubted that). But the timing and the way it was done... like the silence is so fucking loud. The only conclusion I can draw is that Jere regrets doing things the way he's done during JO Nordic Tour... Am I now a bad person that I enjoyed that content? Because whenever I had a bad day it was such a comfort to look up videos of Jere and Bojan... but if he regrets that those videos are public, I feel like I'm not allowed to rely on them anymore.. That we're not invited to Bojere anymore.

And again it's completely fine, they don't own us anything. But the christmas is gone and I don't know what to do now.. I keep reminding myself that I can't expect anything and honestly that's very depressing.

I also undestand that these are fully my personal issues, I'm most likely overthinking all this to oblivion and I'm also sorry for bringing all this up here. It would make me most happy to know I'm the only one feeling this way.

hallo sorry it took me so long to answer this! (and Thank YOU!! for the nice compliment :)) )

also boy do I have headcanons or just what I think could happen if they end up together (AND ALIVE?) so here we go

Warren's absolutely inept at cooking he Tries and he Knows how to survive on his own but he's more than happy to leave Gordon alone in the kitchen and let him work his magic (I also don't think Gordon's that good either but he's willing to try for warren)

Gordon sleeps with his socks on, Warren says it's stupid and Gordon pulls out his phone with that article saying it's easier to fall asleep with them on and they have a Debate abt it

also think both of them have a sweet tooth but Gordon's actually pathologic like three spoonfuls of sugar + milk into tea and Warren's like arent u afraid of losing your teeth and Gordon's like (girls who like sweets when they meet bitches that snort sugar)

Warren strikes me as a morning person or even if not necessarily loving waking up early he's like someone who once wakes up is Awake whereas Gordon's fully nonfuncional in the morning and Warren has to drag him around he pretends to hate it but he doesn't of course

i think neither Warren nor Gordon are Conventionally Pretty cos that's boring but Gordon was in a metal band he's since long embraced being a Freak while Warren's still self concious in the silent way but Gordon genuinely thinks he's the most handsome man alive like he's truly convinced Warren is this mythical relict that only the pure of heart can find and appreciate which makes Warren feel so embarrassed but after a while he embraces it and they become so obsessed with each other from an outside perspective it's frightening

idk why but it think they both try to become vegetarian for Waffles (it makes sense in my head) but they like full english breakfast too much so they Just can't it's funny to me ok

Warren says he was a punk (pointing at Gordon) just to see Gordon get red in the face and explain At Length just how much punk and metal are different genres because he was born in the eighties so He's like That and how while he can see the strength of certain messages conveyed through punk music it's just Not at all like metal where techinque and actual musical ability is valued but also he played bass so maybe he's more chill about it but he still wants to point it out ok he isn't Punk and Warren does it because he's insane about Gordon getting heated and at a certain point he just tunes him out it's like asmr to him

they both have Issues and so it takes them a while to get it together like Warren is in love but won't say anything because he thinks what they have is too good to ruin and Gordon still thinks Warren is Fragile and also possibly straight? but once they Do get it together they still don't define it because it's Too big and too personal to have a name like I am 100% serious when I'm saying that I think their relationship is Overwhelming in the most romanticly haunting sense but they balance it well it works with them exclusively

both of them are tactile people but Warren won't initiate any contact he's more like a dog that accepts pats but doesn't get up to search for them

Warren's a tidy person and Gordon's more "There's method to my madness" but he's an Archivist so he's got every important document cared for and has extremely good spacial memory i like to think that a few years down the line (in my universe where they are happy and live together) they become sort of telepathic and when Warren needs something he doesn't even have to ask he's just like "Have you seen the- and Gordon's there "Top right corner of the shelf in the bathroom" and they do this All the time

17. idk if this exactly counts but i have to follow a routine otherwise i’m fucked and my whole world will crumble and i’m ruined. i also have to close the bathroom door and then turn the light off, and the toilet seat has to be down while i’m sleeping otherwise i get really anxious and will lay in bed for hours. i can’t have 2 devices sat next to each other they have to be in different parts of my room otherwise i can’t sleep either. all my teddies have to be in the same place every single night, and i’ll make sure they’re all in their places before i go to sleep. i scratch my head a lot even if it isn’t itchy, idk why i just do it or pull at my earrings when i’m out or talking to people 🧍🏻‍♀️ i also plan out conversations i have with people before i have them otherwise i will probably have a panic attack or just completely dissociate from the conversation because i hadn’t thought about what i wanted to say before i’d seen that person. i think that’s all of them 🤨

I am all for the optimism and defending the team regardless of how bad they do. It's always 'let's keep pushing' 'on to the next one' BUT WE CANNOT KEEP DOING THIS. What we need is full focus on the CURRENT car not all focus on who to put next year. And if Toto Wolff can't do that, then he should be FIRED. He should not lead a team. He no longer qualifies to be a team principal after all these failures and all he can do is to spout stupid words, waffling about a junior who doesn't even race a full F2 season yet or a Max Verstappen. like infinity war and endgame happens (maybe thanos is Giovanni? Except he just wants to snap the population for funsies and to be evil and assert his dominance or something)

im thinking maybe alder, hau, and Wallace get snapped?

so basically geeta goes for the time stone, steven the mind stone, Leon and iris are a tag team for the mind and space stone (mostly so Leon doesn’t get lost + they get both stones at the same time), Lance gets the power stone and Cynthia and Diantha for the soul stone.

most of them don’t really have reasons for why they get assigned to that stone (except for geeta bc time stone and paldea’s thing was past/future).

Ok time for the big event. So the soul stone requires a sacrifice (someone you’re close to / love). So what I imagine is that Cyn and Dia are at Vormir and get told the whole “soul for a soul” thing, and are conflicted about it. Likely they fight, since neither wants to watch the other die. Eventually though, Diantha is the one who sacrifices herself (listen the fallen angel imagery was too good to pass up), and Cynthia has more trauma lol.

it’d also be painful for lance too, since in endgame the people going for the power stone and soul stone basically went together, dropped the power stone duo off at the location, then headed to the soul stone. Lance is the power stone guy. So he was the last one to see Diantha alive other than Cynthia.

idk much abt Avengers I'm sorry but I know enough and like that last bit hurt me man c'mon I just finished my exams I deserve waffles with this at least😭🤣

Marc being the center of this new episode of red flags made my heart soar. I am in LOVE with this man. He went to HER bc he didn't have anybody else. He gave her HIS jacket while it was raining. He STOPPED himself from kissing her even tho he clearly wanted to (he's probably just thinking how it could be cheating?) (Or bc they're just friends. Barely) (even tho there's an obvious attraction between them) I'm dying over here.

I thought it was very cool and detailed how u make Marc make the better breakfast. In the sense of the food made and the cooking itself. No judgement to British people but bEANS?????? WITH TOAST??????????? when i first read that a few weeks ago i gagged and said I'd rather die than let my boyfriend make me beans for breakfast. Nuh uh. Leave me alone I'm picky (also my stomach would NOT sit well having beans at 7am). Waffles, oatmeals, cereals etc gOOD food or nothing.

I am one of those people who are too in love with food, I think of food as a love language because growing up my mom used to work as a professional restaurant chef, and so I was raised to believe that you show love by cooking for the people you love-- and I always thought that even if you're shit at it if you keep at it -- that in itself is an act of love. My husband was absolute shit at cooking when we first started dating but in the many many years we've been together, nobody would ever guess, cause he has learnt to perfect a handful of dishes that he knows are my favs and those dishes are at restaurant level even if he doesn't know how to cook anything else, and I imagine that this is what Marc has done too. Master of breakfast foods at this point -- but he won't be able to cook you anything else.

For the current anime season I am watching:

Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague: it's a josei workplace romance about a snow ogre who falls in love with his office co-worker who's a regular human. A little fantasy slice of life, VERY cute. I love it.

Tsurune: It's on it's second season. Sports anime about an archery club. I'm always a sucker for a good sports anime. This one has incredible animation, and I love all the characters in it.

Endo and Kobayshi Live! The Latest on the Villainess Lieslotte! A Josei isekai series! Villainess series are pretty popular right now, there was one last season that I also really enjoyed (I'm the Villainess so I'm Taming the Final Boss) this Isekai has a bit of a twist though in that it's two high schoolers talking to the characters in an otome game, trying to prevent the sad ending of the villainess. It's also very good.

Buddy Daddies. Two assassins raise a child together. It sounds like spy x family, and I can't deny that. But it's different enough as to be very engaging. Also a little gay since both assassins are men.

Inuyasha. The manga is one of my favorites, but, and this is where I age myself terribly back in my day watching the anime was difficult for me because I didn't have cable. Without cartoon network or access to a media specialty store there was no watching Inuyasha. So I read the manga, and I loved it, but I had no access to the anime. So here I am a hundred years later finally watching the anime with a friend who has also never seen it.

Hunter x Hunter. This one the same friend wanted to show me because she loves it. I also love it. Classic battle shounen, honestly now that I'm watching it I realize like how much other battle shounens owe it. I feel like understanding nen is the only thing holding me back from understanding curse technqiue in Jujustu Kaisen.

I'm rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's so good it deserves a yearly rewatch.

Manga on the other hand I am reading:

Chainsaw Man. We're into part two so I'm reading chapters as they release. If you enjoyed the anime or want to see if it's worth the hype, I promise that it is.

Jujutsu Kaisen. Again just chapters as they release. I waffle all the time on if this series is amazing or if Akutami has lost the plot. My opinion goes between one or the other hourly.

Spy x Family. Same as above. Chapters as they release. Hoping for it to pick up the pace or do more backstory.

Yona of the Dawn, I found the next volumes I needed to read at the library, which pretty much brings me up to what can be bought at the store. Yona of the Dawn is a shoujo fantasy action adventure about a sheltered princess who witnesses the murder of her father and has to go on the run with her sworn protector. Along the way she realizes the terrible state her kingdom has fallen into and vows that if she wants to be a person capable of ruling it she needs to focus on fixing the kingdom rather than vengeance. Along the way she collects her dragon warriors who are her sworn protectors. EXCELLENT slow burn romance. Like 20/10 can't recommend enough. Yona is a top tier shoujo protagonist.

My Love Story. Shoujo high school slice of life about a guy who isn't your typical shoujo love interest. Tall and buff he falls in love a lot but every girl he likes is just using him to try and get to his more classically handsome best friend. Then one day on the train he saves a girl he sees being harassed and she falls in love with him. I cannot stress enough how cute this series is.

Kakuriyo. Shoujo isekai about a girl who's grandfather arranged a marriage to an ogre lord who runs a hotel in the land of the demons to pay off his debts. Our protagonist doesn't want to get married to him though, so she's determined to work off her debt by opening a little restaurant in the land of the demons.

Mars. I re-read this yearly. Shoujo psychological high school thriller / romance. Shy artist falls in love with the popular bad boy. He loves her art, and promises to protect her if she gives him a painting she made. She asks him to model for her. Story spins out WILDLY from there. They love each other and overcome years of trauma together. SO with that said. Rape TW, suicide TW, sexual harassment tw. This is an older shoujo and a classic.
