Optional
------
Sasuke, D is for Dear, 🥹
Mitsuhide, S is for Secret, 🫣
Ieyasu, A is for Appetite, 😉
Kenshin, B is for Beauty, 😘
------
For these please don't feel even a little bit like you need to do them, but if any catch your fancy and you just want to I won't complain! ❤️
I chose Ieyasu. I think he needed a little more love ^_^ I feel like this ended up being more 😘 than 😉, but here we go! Approx. 900 words.
Ieyasu felt an itch under his skin. Not literally. He would have preferred literal. An itch could be resolved. Scratched until satisfied. Treated with some medicine. Ignored, even. But this itch . . . tossed herself in his way every day. He could not find a place she did not haunt. And when she was not there in form, she was in his thoughts.
Her presence was driving him mad. He could not focus on work. His only escape was in the rigor of sword practice. Which was why the pale morning sun found him in the practice yard, faced off against Masamune.
“Again,” Ieyasu called, and lifted his sparring sword.
“Hungry for another round, lad?” Masamune laughed and came at him once again. So far, the one-eyed dragon held four victories to Ieyasu’s three. He probably thought the young warlord was hoping to draw even. If he really knew the reason . . .
Masamune’s practice blade caught him in the thigh. Ieyasu threw himself out of the way. His own sword whistled through the air in a wild slash that the dragon easily avoided.
“You getting tired?” Masamune’s grin was infuriating.
“No.” Ieyasu answered the challenge with a flurry of slashes, changing his stance in a whirlwind of motion. He was a good swordsman. Great, even. But so was Masamune. He only managed to drive the one-eyed dragon back, his edge catching nothing but air.
“Huh.” Masamune circled, looking for an opening. He wasn’t one to waste energy on an ill-timed strike. “Not tired then. Distracted?”
Ieyasu ignored the question. He lunged forward, but his attack was parried. He danced back to a defensive posture.
“Hmmm. But distracted by what?” Masamune’s grin widened. “If a man had to guess . . . I bet this distraction has big eyes and a sweet smile and hair that -”
“Shut up.” Ieyasu’s jaw clenched so tight it hurt. Was he so obvious? Or was the one-eyed dragon so intuitive? “I am not distracted.” He launched another attack and this time scored a glancing blow to Masamune’s side.
He laughed off the hit, and used the moment to create his own opening. Masamune’s sword slammed into Ieyasu’s upper shoulder. A hit that in a real fight might have been lethal. “No? Maybe just hungry then.”
“I ate.” Ieyasu ignored the sweat that trickled down his forehead and back. The throbbing pain in his shoulder and leg. He could feel the bruises there already swelling.
Masamune’s blue eye glinted with a fierce playfulness. “Sure, but it’s about what. Sometimes a man gets hungry for just one, specific thing.”
Ieyasu darted forward, another slash and another parry. He was not going to dignify this ridiculous line of conversation with a response.
“Nothing else will satisfy.” Masamune grunted as he repelled another attack. He leapt and shifted. “That hunger eats at you.” He brought his sword around to almost land another blow to Ieyasu’s damaged shoulder. “Nibbling at your spirit.”
“Nothing is nibbling!” Ieyasu barely managed to avoid being hit again. He went on another full out attack, and for a moment there was no conversation. Only strained breath and the screech of dulled edges sliding off one another.
Masamune took a hit to his arm, but ignored it. He lunged into the blow and used his momentum to knock Ieyasu off his feet. His sword came down fast, stopping just short of Ieyasu’s throat. The metal rested coolly against the blonde’s hot skin. “You can’t think until you sate it, lad.”
They shared a look. Ieyasu felt a tangle of burning emotions well up in his chest. Annoyance, affection, desire, shame . . . all of it coming too fast and hard to swallow down. These were feelings they both understood, a brotherhood of trauma, stress, and loneliness.
Masamune let him up.
Ieyasu stood and walked out. He barely noticed what he passed, where he was going. He wasn’t thinking, just moving. Letting his heart lead, in all its wildness and contradiction. His feet led him forward until he found himself there, standing in front of her.
She sat there with a swath of fabric in her lap, a needle and thread in hand. Her smile lit up her eyes as she saw him, so bright and sweet and naive.
He couldn’t take it anymore. Ieyasu held out his hand.
The chatelaine set down her work and took it, one brow rising in an unspoken question. A question that remained unspoken as he pulled her close. Holding her so tightly that neither could properly draw breath.
His mouth found hers, crushed her lips to his. She was so soft, so sweet. The taste on her lips of mint and tea and honey. The warmth of her tongue as she pushed past his barriers to return the kiss with the same passion that burned in him. Ieyasu thought, as he kissed her, that Masamune was so very wrong.
The hunger in him was only growing as he tried to satisfy it. Holding her, kissing her . . . he wanted more. He wanted all of her. Not just the feel of her body but the joy in her heart. The love in her gaze. Every sigh, every glance. She’d broken him wide open. Torn down his walls and left him bare and desperate.
When he finally drew back from the kiss, his lungs aching for air, he rasped three little words. ”I love you.”

The Challenge
Tumblr media
Title: The Challenge
Requested by: @ikemendaniel
Prompt: Kabedon
Characters: Ieyasu & Sasuke (background, Masamune, Mai)
Spicy but SFW
Word Count: 1200
Heat.
At the end, that’s all there is. A fire in the blood, flames that radiate outward from the core. Lips tingle, numbing to sensation. Sasuke and Ieyasu are both bathed in sweat, breathing heavily. Panting…
Brown eyes meet green ones, without the barrier of the glasses that Sasuke tossed aside moments ago. There is pain, and through the pain a hint of euphoria. “Yield,” Ieyasu manages to find the breath to gasp. “Tell me you yield.”
Sasuke stays as expressionless as always, though a sheen of perspiration covers his face. “More,” is all he says.
How did we get here? Was it half an hour ago, when the heat was still merely a pleasant burn? Was it the moment when Sasuke had Ieyasu kabedon’d against the castle walls, and pleaded for one tiny favor? Or was it earlier that day when Sasuke was seized by a desire…
Earlier that day…
“You want Ieyasu’s… autograph?” Mai couldn’t prevent herself from gaping at her friend, who had dropped in on her (literally) and announced his quest.
“I er, might be the founding member of the Tokugawa Ieyasu appreciation society at Kyoto University. An autograph… and perhaps some personal item, such as a scrap of material, a lock of his hair…” Sasuke’s eyes had a faraway look in them. Mai cleared her throat. “Yes, a lock of his hair.”
It wasn’t the craziest thing she had ever heard of, and since she needed to deliver a kimono to Ieyasu anyway, she allowed Sasuke to accompany her.
That might have been all there was to it, but as it turned out, Ieyasu was not in the mood to sign a piece of paper, let alone allow Sasuke to touch his hair. In fact, after accepting the kimono from Mai, he thanked her and strode off without a word.
Sasuke followed.
Ieyasu walked faster.
As did Sasuke.
The situation mushroomed from there, with Ieyasu breaking into a run, and Sasuke chasing after him. Alarmed, and worried for both their sakes, Mai hurried off to find Masamune, in the hope that he could arbitrate a settlement.
By the time Masamune and Mai caught up with them again, Ieyasu was backed up against the castle wall while Sasuke loomed against him ominously. “Just a tiny snip of hair. I’ll take it from the back, and no one will be able to tell.”
“As if anyone could tell anyway,” Masamune said quietly to Mai. “The lad’s hair resembles a lionfish, even in the best of circu- oof!” He rubbed his stomach where Mai had just elbowed him. “Kitten!” He glared at her reproachfully.
“Help them out, please! I don’t want this to escalate.” Mai doubted that Sasuke would dare harm his idol, but Ieyasu was unpredictable.
Masamune waded in and soon had the two separated. “Lad, Sasuke’s request is a bit odd, but harmless. Just give him some hair, and he’ll go away.”
But Ieyasu’s stubborn mode had been activated, and he was in no way interested in giving anything to Sasuke. “Don’t be ridiculous. I won’t even give him one hair. Who knows what he’s going to do it?”
Meanwhile, Sasuke, having gotten this close to Ieyasu did not want to waste the opportunity. “I’m willing to work for the chance. We could spar for it?”
“No!” The objection came from peace-loving Mai.
Determined, Sasuke threw out desperate suggestions. “Ground spike hopscotch? Ceiling races through the castle? Throwing star dodgeball? Hot sauce challenge?”
“No. No. No. N- er…” Ieyasu paused, his interest caught.  “What is this hot sauce challenge?”
“The Hot Sauce Challenge is a popular game from our… village.” Sasuke paused to find a non-anachronistic explanation. “It involves the consumption of increasingly spicier foods.”
“Um, Sasuke?” Mai tapped his shoulder. “You should probably know that-“
But it was too late. Sensing a chance to be free of the pesty ninja forever, Ieyasu agreed to the competition. “If I win, you promise to never bother me again? To never look at me again?”
“I promise, Lord Ieyasu.” Sasuke bowed to him.
At that, Masamune willingly offered his services as sauce provider. He spent the afternoon in the kitchen, in his element, as laughing to himself he crafted wicked (and yet still tasty, if he said so himself) bowls of hot sauces.
The contest began slowly at first, with neither challenger even needing to resort to the milk that Keiji (who still had those goats) had provided.
As each container of sauce was set in front of them, they stared into each others eyes, drank the sauce straight from sake cups, then slammed the cups back on the table as if they were doing shots of liquor, rather than liquid death.
“Refreshing,” Ieyasu remarked early on the in the competition, as he downed a cup of sauce that was more than fifty percent karashi.
Sasuke gulped his own sauce without even a twitch to betray the fact that his esophagus was on fire. Although the mist in front of his eyes was slightly concern- oh. His glasses had fogged up. Carefully, he set them aside.
The sun set, the room darkened. Wasabi sauce… yuzukosho… shichimi togarashi… Then the first casualty - it was neither Sasuke or Ieyasu, but kitchen-helper Mitsunari, who accidentally rubbed his eyes and had to be attended to by Mai and Hideyoshi.
But neither competitor would yield, even after a dish made almost purely of sansho pepper.  The sauce’s delayed response caused Sasuke’s lips to tingle, and he was certain Ieyasu was suffering the same, for he was rubbing his thumb across his lower lip. He could feel sweat trickling between his shoulder blades and his nose had been running through the last four sauces.
Tumblr media
And so, now… we return to the beginning, which is also the end…
“Yield,” Ieyasu says, and for a moment, a brief hopeful moment, Sasuke thinks that Ieyasu is yielding to him. But the man continues, “Tell me you yield.”
Not today, Satan. Sasuke hasn’t endured four years of Kenshin’s training, four years of pickled plums, four years of sake-soaked nights to be defeated by hot sauce. “More.”
“Are you certain, lads?” Masamune stands over them – both men are red faced, sweating, breathing through their mouths. Brows and faces are mopped with hand towels, milk is sipped, determination is renewed.
Ieyasu slaps his hand on the table. He can no longer speak.
Masamune sets the last dish on the table. “I call it… Dragon’s Breath.”
There’s a long … long… pause…
Before with barely a tremble to their hands, they dump the sauce into their mouths, swallowing it as fast as humanly possible.
It’s like drinking lava. The molten shot races down their throats, like a scorpion on a water slide.
Neither speaks.
Neither screams.
Neither can scream… their vocal cords have been temporarily cauterized.
Instead, they only stare at each other in mutual agony. And… maybe… mutual respect?
“That’s it.” Masamune clears away the dishes. He worries that anything hotter might literally rip out their guts. “I declare this competition a draw. Congratulations.”
Without a word, Ieyasu gets to his feet, bows to Sasuke, and walks away.
When Sasuke can move again… it’s to grab the hand towel that Ieyasu has left behind. Carefully, he folds it up and tucks it into his kimono.
It’s been a good day.

Ikemen Sengoku: What-If Collection Event - Warlord Pets
Tumblr media
(Don't mind the photo) I wrote this fanfiction for fun where the warlords turn into their animal mascots. Since there wasn’t much spotlight for their beloved pets I thought I would write about them in a What-If Collection Event for April Fool’s Day on April 1st. Since the increase of the IkeSen roster I decided to take the time to add the additional six characters. So a total of all seventeen men in the IkeSen roster.
THE HERD PART 1
It was a pleasant evening like any other evening. Tomorrow everyone from the Usugi-Takeda forces along with Kennyo, Motonari & Kicho were going to visit Azuchi. Sasuke already visited me two days ago since Kenshin wanted to visit me. I thought we would all try something that will get everyone working together…or at least trying to. I already had some ideas but Sasuke hasn’t visited me to discuss it over with him. Maybe we’ll talk tomorrow.
“Ah the moon is so beautiful this evening; it would be nice to watch it with everyone. Time for bed.”
By the next morning I was the first in the war council room. Usually everyone would be here or I would be informed to show up but no one was here until the sliding door opened. I sat up straight but instead I got pounced.
“Oof! What in the world?”
It was then I felt something wet on my face. When I lifted up whatever was on top of me and tried to see who or what it was.
A TIGER?! SHOGETSU?!
“You were supposed to be at the manor with Masamune, what in the world are you doing here!? I better return you back to the manor as soon as possible or else Hideyoshi is going to blow a blood vessel.”
But the tiger was not the only animal that was in war council a whole colossal of animals flooded into the room. I didn’t even realize there was a monkey trying to attack the tiger that I was holding.
OH NO! Please no fighting!
I decided to stand up and try to reach for the monkey that was clinging to the back side of my kimono. But then I felt a nudge almost making me fall over. The perpetrator was a deer.
“OH GREAT! NOW IEYASU’S DEER WASABI!”
Circling around my ankle was a cat meowing and purring as if the fiasco I was in the middle of didn’t exist.
What is with all these animals? Something really isn’t right. The monkey on my back let out a yelp as it let go of my back who was trying to reach for the tiger. Now the monkey was flicking his tail that was sadly bitten by a fox. When the fox let go the monkey started chasing the fox. I better stop them.
I was so distracted by the chase I tripped over the cat and planted face first on the floor. A heard a soft snort and a boop from my cheek from a pig snout. What a mess. All of the Azuchi warlord pets are running amuck. I wonder why. I then heard the pig squeal as he ran off into a different direction being chased by something.
When I realized what happened I noticed a wolf chasing the poor piggy. On the wolf’s back was a squirrel. And behind them was a bear with a bunny and a hamster on its back chasing the other animals across the room.
Just when the wolf and bear were chasing after the pig and cat they nearly knocked over a jar. The peacock that flashed its feathers blocked their direction to the beautiful jar as if protecting something precious spooking any nearby it away.
I decided to try and chase after the animals stopping them from chasing each other around the room but it only made matters worse as the wolf started to fly into the air by a wallaby. A parrot flying overhead was shaking his head as the wolf collapsed on the ground after being air born by the wallaby’s kick.
The war council was in such disarray as animals were fighting among each other until I heard a loud scream that stopped the infighting and set all the animals on alert. They looked up and saw a hawk that was swarming around a lot more higher then the parrot. The hawk seated itself where Nobunaga would sit. Soon the animals that were most likely warlords from Azuchi began to position themselves in their spots. Now if I didn’t know better these were the warlords. How would they know to position themselves like their owners would sit. The parrot then landed just inches away from the hawk.
“Finally…now that they have settled down we can finally get down to business.” The parrot spoke.
I looked at the parrot who spoke and truly it sounded like Kicho and not Fuka. It was unbelievable. There was no way.
“N-no way…Kicho? Is that you?” I can’t believe I’m speaking to Kicho the parrot. Interesting ring to it if I do say so myself.
“Yes. It seems I’m the only one who can talk. Unlike the others. I don’t know what or how this happened. From the looks of it we all woke up this way.”

Hey!, dunno if you're still interested in hearing ideas for suitor x suitor fics, but maybe Sasuke x Yukimura?, or Sasuke x Kenshin?, Sasuke x Ieyasu possibly? I'm not biased, btw, I'm just a very supportive boyfriend, I think my man deserves a polycule.
Non-Sasuke related ships-wise, how's Nobunaga x Hideyoshi sound? Or Mitsunari x Ieyasu? And, uh, yeah, I think I'm prolly not allowed to suggest any more ideas, but hope you have fun writing whatever it is you decide to write, have fun and a lovely day!! o/
OMG those are actually the ships I was thinking of LMAO
I’m a very basic person, so my pairings would be:
• Yuki x Sasuke
• Nobunaga x Hideyoshi
• Masamune x Mitsuhide
• Mitsunari x Ieyasu
• Kenshin x Shingen
I’d probably mostly write the last two, since they’re my obsession if I’m being honest; I love oblivious with jackass, and I can’t even describe Kenshin and Shingen’s dynamic, but I absolutely love it! I hope that’s alright and satisfactory for you, Anon!
I’d also like to add that I’ll be writing with certain headcanons in every fanfiction:
• Mitsunari is neurodivergent.
• Kenshin and Shingen are both in their early 50’s.
Please let me know if there’s any issues with this!

I love the two fics you have out so far! I read a lot of fanfiction in the fandom and just love how you write! I can't wait to read more! Is there a reason why you only write for Licht and Silvio? Do you have plans in the future to branch out to the other suitors? And do you have any wips you're currently working on? I hope you have a great day, Michelle!!
Tumblr media
I got an anonymous ask and that made me super EXCITED. This is the second ask I've ever gotten. hdjfkalhFDkj Thank you!! It truly makes me feel good knowing people like my writing when I'm just trying to get back into it. The reason I only write for Licht and Silvio because I find them the easiest for me to write, for anyone else, I'd have to meticulously look up things about them and do research to make sure I'm doing their character justice. And just getting back into writing, I want to start comfortable before trying to take on the other suitors.
Leon was the first ever suitor I read and am tempted to try my hand at him, but not yet. A lot of people love Chevalier and Gilbert, and so do I, so they've also peaked my interest. I also love the other Ikemen Series and wouldn't mind dipping my toes into writing Vamp or Sen.
I've been interested in also trying to write Mozart, Isaac, Arthur, Vincent, Charles, Vlad, Nobunaga, Ieyasu, Yukimura, Masamune. BUT, there's a few people I haven't read their routes but I'd be interested in writing them, like Kanetsugu, Yoshimoto, Keiji, Motonari, Kicho, Shingen, Kenshin, Rio, Yves, Jin, Luke, Theo, Faust, Galileo, Leonardo.
*Lays down* There's just so many hot men.... sorry I kind of went into a tangent because I was excited to get an ask <3 I do have a few wips right now! But I've been jumping between them all because inspiration wouldn't suit the wip I was working on. Yesterday I was writing my Swordplay Foreplay smut fic and my toddler deleted 95% of it, so that was really depressing and demotivating, but I've been trying to get that one going again because it'll be my masterpiece and I will be known far and wide through the fandom for it.
...At least, that's the confidence I'm trying to have to keep myself motivated to keep writing it. I thought it was a unique idea and I haven't seen anyone else write anything close to it so far, so I HAVE TO JUMP ON IT.
I hope I answered your questions and you have an amazing day!! <3

About me:

All's Fair In Love and War Prologue Pt 2
Prologue Pt 2
Three years Later…
Nobunaga sat in council with his inner circle. “What about those rumors we have been hearing about for the past few years?” Hideyoshi asked.
“Yes, even I’ve heard about the rumors surrounding the Yamada Clan.” Masamune said, a serious look on his face. “They used to just stick to themselves not really allying with anyone or going after anyone, but protecting themselves.”
“Lord Riku Yamada died three years ago.” Mitsuhide spoke. “My sources tell me he had an adopted child who had already been leading his forces in their battles even before his death.”
“What were the circumstances of his death?” Hideyoshi asked.
“An enemy attack from the Ishihara Clan.” Mitsuhide answered. “Killed him and his wife in their beds.”
“The new Lord Yamada marched their forces to the Ishihara just days later and waged a war… from my understanding of how the battle played out…their strategy….the Ishihara didn’t stand a chance and were defeated in three days.” Mitsunari said. “The new Lord Yamada is a brilliant strategist.”
“After defeating the Ishihara, Lord Yamada went after the Ishihara allies next.” Mitsuhide explained. “They had been surrounded by enemies for so long at this point…and now those enemies are gone and the Yamada rule over a rather large amount of land.”
“This could be a problem should the new Lord Yamada decide to try anything.” Hideyoshi said. “It could jeopardize our unification efforts…we would easily defeat them, though.”
“Not likely so easily.” Ieyasu spoke up.
“Seems like it would be one hell of a fight.” Masamune said, a glint in his one blue eye. “Though it would use a lot of our resources, given how much land the Yamada now hold…and how large their army is. From what I’ve heard the new Lord Yamada has gained favor of the people of the lands and they are prospering.”
Nobunaga had been silently listening and taking in every word his vassals and allies exchanged.
“We still have the larger force.” Hideyoshi said. “With all of our combined forces…”
“That would be a waste of resources.” Nobunaga finally declared.
“Then what do you propose we do, my lord?” Hideyoshi asked.
Nobunaga wore a smirk as he looked around the room. “I think it’s quite obvious…we seek to add the Yamada to our alliance.”
“That would be the best bet.” Mitsuhide said. “One can never have too many allies.”
“Especially too many strong allies.” Masamune agreed with a grin.
“I had good relations with the previous Lord Yamada.” Nobunaga said. “Though he never officially allied with me, he never stood against me either and even gave some supplies and good council on occasion.”
“How will you do it, my lord?” Hideyoshi asked. “I’d be happy to go as an envoy.”
Nobunaga shook his head. “No…we will invite Lord Yamada here. Ranmaru, you will set out for their territory at first light.”
Ranmaru blinked in surprise. “You really wish me to go, Lord Nobunaga?”
“Yes, you are the perfect man for the job.” Nobunaga answered. “Extend an invitation to Lord Yamada to come to Azchi with his closest men. We will discuss terms of an alliance when they arrive.”
Ranmaru nodded resolutely, “Yes, Lord Nobunaga I will do my best.”
The warlords discussed their plans further before council was coming to an end. Nobunaga called Ranmaru to a private meeting in the tenshu. “You wished to see me, my lord?” He asked.
“Yes, when you go to the Yamada clan, I want you to take these as gifts.” Nobunaga instructed, handing his young page a couple of items. “A sign that we truly are seeking an alliance.”
Ranmaru nodded. “Right, I won’t let you down, Lord Nobunaga.”
A few days later…
I sat in my council room having met with the leaders I had put in place of the territories that were now part of my domain. It had been a rocky last few years, but I was managing things relatively well. I now controlled all of the lands that had immediately surrounded my family’s domain. I was driven to go after the Ishihara for revenge, but also for practical and tactical reasons…and once going for them…I had to go after the others. I had no choice.
As council convened, Kei, one of my aides, was coming in. “Lord Yamada, there is someone here to see you.” She informed me.
“There weren’t any other meetings scheduled for the day.” Jiro said, as he was still my right hand man.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“His name is Ranmaru Mori, my lord.” She answered. “He is an envoy sent by Lord Nobunaga Oda.”
I lifted a brow. I knew the name, recalling it from my history lessons in school in the modern day. “That’s interesting.”
“I knew it wouldn’t be long before the Oda took notice.” Jiro said.
“How could they not take notice of the powerhouse that our lady is.” Sato said, smiling at my left.
“Send him in.” I said.
Kei nodded and bowed before exiting the room. A few moments later, a young man was coming in. He was honestly the prettiest man I had ever seen and there really was non other way to describe him.
He looked at the three of us, sitting at the head of the room. I sat in what was clearly the position of power. I smiled at him. “You look a bit confused, Master Ranmaru.” I said.
He blinked, seeming to come out of his confusion. He gave me a smile as he bowed. “Forgive me, I wasn’t expecting the new Lord Yamada to be such a beautiful lady.” He answered.
“Lord Riku adopted Lord Ava as a young woman and trained her. Always intending for her to carry on the clan leadership.” Jiro explained.
“I see.” Ranmaru replied.
“What brings you here?” I asked.
“My lord has taken notice of your recent rise.” Ranmaru answered. “And…well he has sent me as an envoy to invite you and your closest council to Azuchi to discuss an alliance.”
Sato was smiling widely. “That is indeed an honor.” She said.
“And as a gesture of good faith, Lord Nobunaga asked me to bring these gifts to you.” Ranmaru said, holding out a box.
I rose from my seat and walked over to look at the items. The box contained a Goban and a dagger that was intricately carved…and one I recognized. “These are excellent gifts…” I said. “I think we shall accept the invitation. We will make preparations and leave in two days.”
I was then instructing Kei to set our guest up in our best room. I had more duties to tend to before the day was done as well as arrangements to make for my absence.
Later that night, I sat out on the veranda, sipping my nightly sake as I looked up at the stars. “You can come out of your hiding spot.” I said.
Jiro was then coming out from his place behind a pillar. “I wasn’t hiding. I was just staying out of your way.” He countered.
“I know you have something to say.”
“Are you sure about this meeting with the Oda?” Jiro asked as he came to sit beside me, pouring himself a cup of my sake.
I nodded. “Yes. I know Father had a great deal of respect for Lord Nobunaga.” I answered. Though, of course, being from the future I knew that this was the right move as Nobunaga was regarded as one of the great unifiers of our nation.
“I do recall that, though he never declared official support for Lord Nobunaga.” Jiro countered.
“Maybe not officially…but you know Father wasn’t an open book and kept many secrets.”
“What are you getting at, Ava?”
I gestured to the Goban and dagger that I had beside me. “Those gifts from the Oda…they were gifts Father originally sent to Lord Nobunaga.” I explained.
Jiro blinked. “Really?”
I nodded. “Yes…Father actually regularly met with Nobunaga. They would play Go and share counsel with each other.”
Jiro blinked. “How…how do you know that?”
“I went with Father a couple of times.” I answered. “Though I never met with Nobunaga, I stayed out in the hall…or hid in the ceiling.”
Jiro sighed and shook his head. “Only you…” He replied, trailing off. “You know I will support you in whatever you decide to do. My sword is yours, always Ava.”
“I know.” I replied. “That is why you are my right hand. You and Sato will come with me to Azuchi. We’ll leave Ichiro and the council in charge of things here while we are gone.”
“Whatever you say…my lord.” Jiro replied.
After taking the two days to set everything up, we departed with Ranmaru, heading for Azuchi. I had decided to pack the dagger and the Goban, taking those with me. They might come in handy later.
“We should reach Azuchi in about three days.” Ranmaru declared as we mounted up.
I nodded. “Sounds good.”
Sato rode up beside Ranmaru as we began to head off. “Did you enjoy your stay in our land, Master Ranmaru?” She asked, grinning at him.
Sato was a beautiful woman. She had long dark black hair with striking golden eyes and very pale skin. She always wore black and dark makeup. She was what I referred to as a Sengoku Goth.
Ranmaru smiled brightly at her, though I could tell that he was slightly unsettled by her. “It was nice and comfortable.” He answered. He was then turning to me.“And the bakers and cooks you employ Lady Ava, they are quite good…and the peach trees in your garden…they remind me of some from a garden I loved as a child.”
I smiled back at him. “I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and the food.” I told him. “And I prefer Lord Ava or Lord Yamada.”
Ranmaru nodded and bowed. “Forgive me…I’m not used to it.”
“It does take some getting used to.” I told him. Though it was all part of my strategy.
“Those sweet buns you gobbled down at breakfast this morning weren’t made by the cooks or bakers.” Jiro told Ranmaru. “Those were actually made by Lord Ava herself.”
Ranmaru looked at me in surprise. “Really?”
I nodded. “Sometimes you have to get in the kitchen yourself.” I replied with a shrug.
Ranmaru smiled brightly. “You’ll get along great with Lord Masamune then.”
“Masamune Date, correct?” I asked.
Ranmaru nodded. “Yes. He’s a great cook.”
I nodded, recalling that tidbit from history class. Since I had taken over the Yamada clan, I tried to recall as much as I could of history classes from the modern day. I didn’t want to change history too much…though I feared it might already be too late for that. But hopefully I could keep things from getting too far out of control. Masamune was known for creating some dishes that were still enjoyed in my original time and for founding the City of Sendai if I recall correctly.
For three days we traveled and talked, making our way to Azuchi. Ranmaru was chatty and cheerful…and utterly adorable. He truly seemed like a sweet guy…though it seemed like there was something hiding behind his smile. There was a sadness and conflict that lingered in his eyes. Though that would normally have me on my toes…I had this feeling it had nothing to do with me and wasn’t reason for ME to worry.
After three days of riding, we were finally reaching the gates of Azuchi Castle. “Welcome to Azuchi, Lord Yamada.” Ranmaru said, cheerfully. “We’ll get inside and I’ll take you to meet with Lord Nobunaga.”

Entwined, Ch 10
Tumblr media
Part 10 of a multipart series. Mai has been reborn in the modern age after a full life in the Sengoku. The warlords as spirit animals find her again after 500 years of searching for her soul. Approx. 3500 words.
Part 1
Previous: Part 9
Mai sat on the park bench, people watching. Her mind was crowded with all of the things she might say when Hideyoshi arrived. Tossing one phrase after another. Too generic. Too cruel. Too ambivalent. Was there any good way to -
CLANG
The sound shook her out of her thoughts and back into the moment. She could see a light pole, and a man on the ground beside it. Mai went to check on him. It sounded like he crashed pretty hard.
“Are you ok?” She got a good look at him as he lay there. Despite the stunned expression, he was very attractive. Young-ish but with gray hair and astonishingly violet eyes. He had a book clutched in one hand.
“Oh! Hey! It’s you!” He smiled up at her, his face almost angelic with the change in expression.
Mai was pretty sure she’d never met him, but she nodded. “Yep. It’s me!” She held out a hand to him. “Let me help you up.” There wasn’t any blood, but she thought he’d have a pretty good bruise on his cheek.
“Thank you.” He took her hand, but didn’t really use it as he stood. She tried to let go once he was standing, but he kept hold of it, still smiling brightly at her as if they were the best of friends. Or lovers. “It’s great to see you again. I wanted to go visit you but Mitsu-”
“There you are!” A shorter, blonde guy walked up and grabbed his arm. “Come on, fool. Stop bothering that idiot.” He glared at them both. “Did she catch you walking into a pole again? What have I told you about reading while you walk?”
Violet-eyes let go of Mai finally, and she took a step back. These guys were weirdos. Cute but bizarre.
“I did, but Ieyasu! Look who I found!”
The blond turned his glare full-on to Mai. “Yes. Some girl. Great. Come on, Mitsunari. I don’t have time for this. We have lectures to get to.”
Ah, they were either students or professors. Mai relaxed a little. “Hey, it was nice meeting you. You should um, put some ice on your face, ok? I’ll just . . . go . . . sit . . .”
“Thanks for checking on this idiot.” Ieyasu held out a hand to stop her. “It’s - it’s nice to meet you. I’m Ieyasu, and this guy is Mitsunari.”
“I’m Mai.”
Mitsunari smiled brightly. “Let’s have lunch together, Mai.”
Ieyasu let out an exasperated sigh. “She literally just met us. She isn’t going to just go somewhere with strangers.”
Mai let out an awkward laugh. They bickered like an old, married couple, she thought.
“But Ieyasu, we’ve known-” Mitsunari started to speak again, but his friend turned suddenly, knocking the book from Mitsunari’s hand. He immediately went after it with a murmured ‘oh no’.
“Actually, I have some time before I meet up with a friend. I’d be ok getting coffee or something, if you like. There’s a stall just a little ways from here.” Mai wasn’t sure why she felt so comfortable around these two. They just seemed nice.
The blond looked as if he might say no. His lips were turned in a firm frown, a little wrinkle between his brows. “Alright. Let’s get it over with then.”
She wasn’t sure how to take that response, but had no time to change her mind. Mitsunari had already recovered his book, and now linked arms with her.
“Ummm . . . alright. But you know you don’t have to? I thought-”
“Come on.” Ieyasu set off toward the coffee stall with a determined gait.
Mai followed after with Mitsunari, uncertain how she felt about this turn of events. But at least it was a nice distraction from her thoughts. “So, you two are students? Or -”
“I’m a guest professor,” Mitsunari smiled at her. “I teach project management. Sometimes I do consulting work too.” He shrugged as if this was no big deal. “Ieyasu teaches and runs a compounding pharmacy.”
“I could have said so myself,” Ieyasu shot back over his shoulder.
She held back a smile. “What do you teach, then?”
“Organic chemistry. Biochem.” He frowned. “Why do you care?”
“I was just curious. Sorry.” Mai wasn’t sure how to react to him. He seemed at turns to really dislike her, and at other times, friendly.
Ieyasu sniffed. “You shouldn’t apologize so much. It’s fine to ask questions.”
Mitsunari laughed and patted her hand. “He’s so excited to spend time with you again. You’ve really unsettled both of us.”
“A-again?” Mai raised an eyebrow. “Have we -”
“There it is.” Ieyasu grabbed her arm and tugged her away from Mitsunari. “What kind of coffee do you want?”
Mai studied his face. There was something about his bright gaze that felt so familiar. She could recall his voice speaking her name with gruff affection.
“Stop staring at me like that. If you don’t tell me what you want, I’ll get you a plain, black coffee.” Ieyasu grumped at her.
“But she likes sweet things,” Mitsunari spoke up. “I bet her favorite isn’t even coffee. Let’s get her a strawberry milk tea!”
“I do really like those,” she said after a pause.
Ieyasu nodded. “Great. Perfect.” He pointed to a nearby park bench. “Mitsunari, go sit with her there. And don’t say anything stupid.”
Mitsunari nodded. “Thank you for reminding me, Ieyasu! You are such a good friend.”
The blond gave a tired sigh and turned away to get in line.
“Is he always like that? I feel like he is,” Mai said as she let Mitsunari lead her off to sit down.
“Hm? Oh yes. Ieyasu is always so kind. He worries about the people around him all the time.” Mitsunari gave her an angelic smile. “It’s good you remember that about him.”
There it was again, Mai thought. She couldn’t place them, but she felt like they’d met before. She was about to ask when Ieyasu arrived with their drinks in hand.
“Here.” Ieyasu handed her drink over and sat down next to Mitsunari.
No one said anything for a few moments. They sat in companionable silence, sipping their drinks. Mai studied them over the rim of her milk tea. She knew that she knew them. There was a sense of it, like a song lyric just forgotten. Out of reach, but only just. She felt sure if she asked the right questions, it would all come back to her.
“Do you like your drink?” Mitsunari noticed her gaze and gave her another angelic smile.
“Mmm. Yes. It’s very good. Thank you again, Ieyasu.”
He gave her a nod in reply, not making eye contact.
“I did have a question for you. Mitsunari.” Mai smiled back at him. “This is going to sound like a weird thing to ask but, do you know a guy named Mitsuhide?”
“Of course.” Mitsunari chuckled. “He’s -”
“An actor, right?” Ieyasu interrupted. “I think we saw him in a production.” He flashed a warning look at his friend.
Mitsunari seemed immune, or perhaps hadn’t noticed. “Oh, yes. I’ve seen him on stage several times. You even perfo- ow!” Mitsunari jumped. “I think something bit me! Ieyasu, did it get you too?” He rubbed at his leg.
Mai decided to try a different tack. “Ieyasu. I know that I’ve met you before. You and Mitsunari and Mitsuhide as well.”
His jade green gaze widened before he shrugged and looked away. “So?”
“So where do I know you from? I feel like . . . we were friends?” She couldn’t help the pleading tone of her voice. “It’s like I’m losing my mind. I keep having these - these memories of places and things that . . . aren’t . . . normal. And meeting people like you two. People that seem so familiar but - but I don’t -”
Mitsunari took her hand in his. “You’ll remember it all eventually, Mai.”
“Right. So quit trying to push. You’ll just hurt yourself.” Ieyasu added gruffly. He nudged Mitsunari. “We need to get to the lecture hall. Come on.”
“But, wait! You can’t just say that and then leave. I need to know. Where did we meet? When? How did we know each other? Why do you remember but I can’t?” Mai felt a surge of frustration and helplessness.
Mitsunari gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “I promise you’ll remember it all. And until you do, we’re all here, watching out for you.”
Ieyasu gave a curt nod. “We’ll be around. But don’t use that as an excuse to do something stupid.” He stood and began walking away.
“I have to go now. But I’m sure we’ll talk again.” Mitsunari’s gentle gaze made Mai feel slightly better as she bid him goodbye. She still felt confused and out of her depth, but reassured too.
She spent the next hour sipping her milk tea and wandering through the park, thinking about the last several weeks. Her life until now had been uneventful. The usual ups and downs, full of laughter and tears. She hadn’t considered that there could be more to it. Memories, friends, lovers from another life in another time. It seemed too incredible to be true.
In the end, Mai decided it didn’t matter whether it was too incredible or not. She knew she felt these things, and her vivid recollections from other times felt like real memories. She didn’t need to know how it worked or why it was. She really just had one choice to make. To believe these things were real, or to refuse. Simple enough . . .
“You look lost in thought. Everything ok?” Hideyoshi’s voice took her by surprise, though he’d shown up more or less at the agreed time.
Mai gave a half-hearted laugh. “Yeah. You know how it is sometimes. When you just go around in circles?”
Hideyoshi smiled and reached to tousle her hair, but stopped short. He cleared his throat, suddenly awkward. “You said we needed to talk?”
She realized as she looked at his nervous posture that she really didn’t want to break up with him. He was such a nice guy. Even now, he was more concerned with her comfort than his own. But it would be cruel to say nothing and so she took a deep breath and nodded. “We do.”
He let out a breath. “Alright.”
Now that the moment was here, Mai wasn’t sure what to say. She struggled for a moment, trying to find the words to express what lay in her heart. “I really like you. It’s just . . . you’re more like a big brother. Or - or a good friend. Comforting and kind and -” Mai stopped herself from saying more as she took in Hideyoshi’s pained expression.
He sucked in a breath, “I suppose I deserve that.”
“What? No!” Mai drew back. “You’re honestly the sweetest guy. It’s me, you know? I have a . . . a lot going on.” She felt a sudden urge to spill the whole thing to Hideyoshi. Her weird dreams and sense of deja vu, her confusion over Mitsuhide and her feelings for him. But that wasn’t fair to him.
Hideyoshi stuck his hands in his pockets and fixed his gaze on the ground. “It’s not you, it’s me, right?” He made a sound that might have been laughter or tears or both.
“Oh, no, that’s - that’s not what I meant. I-”
He shook his head, looking at her again. “You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve told a woman she’s like my little sister. Knowing how she felt about me. Using my responsibilities to - to keep people at arms’ length.” Hideyoshi’s lips twisted in a small, sad smile. “Kind of ironic to have it turned around on me now. With the - the one -” He stopped talking and took a moment to look out at the park, staring at nothing in particular.
Mai felt her heart twist in her chest. She wanted happiness for Hideyoshi, but she knew he wouldn’t find it with her. Not the way he wanted, anyhow. It just killed her to see him hurting like this. “I’m sorry. I really am.”
“You shouldn’t apologize.” He pushed his hair back from his face, trying to master his emotions. “I’m glad you told me. You were - are - so honest. I’ve always admired that about you. Even if it sucks to be on this end of it.”
“Hideyoshi.” She wanted to hug him, but he looked so brittle in this moment, fragile. And even worse, she felt as if they’d been here before. Navigating this space between friendship and romance.
He forced a smile though his eyes were damp. “Would it be alright if - if I still text you sometimes? Just as a friend?”
Mai nodded. “I’d like that. I meant what I said. I care for you.”
“Good.” He cleared his throat. “I don’t want to lose you.” He rubbed his face as if to banish the unshed tears. “I might go quiet for a little while though. Just to - to give us both some space.”
“Sure. That’s probably a good idea.”
Awkward silence fell between them, with neither sure of what else to say. Mai wanted to cry, but she felt like that would be wrong. Afterall, she broke up with him. But seeing the vulnerability in him, the openness, the hurt . . .
“Is it ok if I hug you?” Hideyoshi held up his hands as if to show her they were harmless.
“Yeah. I’d like that.” And then she was enveloped in his arms, her cheek pressed to his warm, firm chest. His hands rested on her upper back, cradling her gently. She knew she was crazy to give him up - any girl would be lucky to stand beside him. But she wasn’t any girl. She was - my little mouse - Mai, and she knew her heart was elsewhere.
After a moment, they parted. Hideyoshi looked better for the brief embrace, though he wouldn’t meet her gaze.
“I think I’ll just go now. This is a good spot to end.” He gave an uncertain half-smile. “See you around?”
“Yes.” Mai nodded. “Definitely.” She wanted to apologize again, to tell him what a great guy he was and how sorry she felt to cause him heartbreak. But he was right. This was a good way to end it. More words would spoil their goodbye. So she waved and watched as he walked away, leaving an ache in her chest that made the afternoon feel colder and more empty.
After he was gone, she took out her phone, itching to talk to someone. Her finger hovered over Mitsuhide’s icon but then she scrolled past to text her friend, Asami. They’d grown up together and if anyone could make her feel better about dumping an absolutely perfect guy, it was her.
They met up at an ice cream shop - Asami’s idea - to split a brownie sundae.
“Trust me, warm caramel will make us both feel a lot better. Me, because I am forever alone, and you, because you’re drowning in hot guys and can’t make up your mind.” Asami grinned as she held the door open for Mai.
“Oh my god. I am too making up my mind! That’s why I talked to Hideyoshi.” Mai stormed past, feeling a little put out by her friend’s carefree smile.
Asami laughed. “Don’t pout. I’m only teasing. I know that couldn’t have been easy.” She gestured to a table. “You save us a spot. I’ll order.”
Mai forced her mouth out of the moue it was making and nodded. She knew her friend was just trying to cheer her up. And she was right. Any girl would be happy to have the problem of too many cute guys in their life. It was just less fun when it was you, and the guy you liked was Mitsuhide. Because he was -
“Here.” Asami put the sundae down on the table. It was immense. Three scoops of ice cream piled high with whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauce, cherries, and rainbow sprinkles sat on a giant, soft, chewy, cocoa brownie. Decadent. Ridiculous. Exactly what a girl needed after a teary eyed breakup.
For several minutes, there was just the sound of spoons clinking the glass dish and happy sighs.
When they’d done a fair amount of damage to the ice cream and dug into the brownie, Asami asked, “So. What happened? I thought Hideyoshi was the perfect guy? Is he, like, secretly eating babies or something?”
“No,” Mai giggled. “He really is damn near perfect. I just . . . he doesn’t . . .”
“Ohhhhh. I get it. No chemistry. When he kisses you, no zing. No juice. No -”
“Oh god, Asami! Stop it! You’re so dirty!” Mai was blushing now, her face hot with embarrassment.
Her friend gave her a knowing look. “But I’m right, right?”
“Yeah,” Mai admitted reluctantly. “It’s like, I care about him. But not as a lover. I can’t imagine him in bed. Or, I can? But I don’t want to.”
“Pfft. I’d imagine him in bed. My bed. You should give me his number.” Asami grinned, then her expression fell, becoming serious. “It’s hard to tell a guy he’s friendzoned. I’m sorry you had to do it. But you got it over with, and it sounds like he took it well.”
She nodded. “I almost wish he’d yelled at me or something. I feel like I kicked a puppy. And,” Mai paused, “this is going to sound weird but, I kind of feel like I told him that before?”
“Deja break up? Weird.” Her friend tilted her head. “But didn’t you tell me you have all kinds of feelings like that with the Mitsuhide guy? Like you knew him before and stuff?”
Mai took a breath. She hadn’t told Asami everything. It was too strange, and she didn’t want her friend thinking she’d lost her mind. But . . . “Do you believe in reincarnation?”
Asami raised an eyebrow. “For real?”
“Yeah.”
After a moment, her friend shrugged. “Sure, I guess. I mean, something has to happen when you die. So why not? Wait.” Asami’s other brow shot up. “You think you were with him in another life? Mitsuhide or Hideyoshi?”
Mai swallowed. “Both? Like I knew them both? And not just them.” She spilled everything over the rest of the sundae. Her dreams and feelings and all of the strange moments she’d had. It felt so good to tell someone she trusted. To just let everything out after worrying over it alone.
When she finished, the ice cream was a memory and Asami was thoughtfully tapping the licked-clean spoon against her lips. “Well. Either you’re insane or reincarnation is real and for whatever reason, you’re drawing these people back to you from your former life. Or lives.”
“That’s not much help. You’re supposed to make me feel better.” Mai tried to frown, but she honestly already felt better just talking about it.
“Hey! I’m the honest friend. You want blind reassurance, ask somebody else.” Asami stuck her tongue out.
“I would, but Kaiya’s too honest as well, and everyone else is either involved or not a close enough friend. So it’s on you.”
Asami laughed. “Fair enough.” She set the spoon down. “I don’t think you’re crazy. So I guess that means we’re stuck with the reincarnation theory. The only other thing I can come up with is some kind of conspiracy but that seems like a lot of work to date a seamstress. No offense.”
“None taken.” Mai smiled.
“So. If that’s the case, then why don’t we try to make you remember? Then you’ll know who these guys are and what they mean to you. Include your hottie theater friend.” She winked. “Want to make it happen?”
“I . . . yeah. I do. But how?”
Asami pulled out her phone. “I know a guy. Does hypnosis and stuff. I don’t know if he’s helped with this past life stuff, but supposedly he can help you diet and quit smoking so it’s worth a try.”
Mai wasn’t sure about that, but she nodded anyway. “If you think he might help, then I’m down.”
“Great. I’ll see what he says. And in the meantime -” Asami pointed at her. “No moping. If you start to mope, I’ll call Kaiya and we’ll both show up at your place.”
“No moping,” Mai agreed. “In fact, I think I’ll swing by the theater tonight and take a few shots of the stage. I want to do some color match and contrasts with the -”
“Oh. God. It’s always work with you.” Asami laughed and rolled her eyes. “Sure, fine, whatever helps you get through. But I know the real reason you want to drop by.”
Mai tried to look innocent but she knew she was failing as Asami’s smile widened.
“There might just be some hot, golden-eyed, platinum haired guy who needs a little help with his co-”
“Asami!”
“What? I was going to say costume. Obviously.” Her friend’s smile was mischievous and gave the lie to her ‘obvious’ statement.
Mai felt a rush of love for this friend that had been there for her every time she needed it. She grabbed Asami’s hand and squeezed it. “You’re the best. You know that, right?”
“Yeah, yeah. Just remember that on my birthday. I was looking at this phone -”
They both broke into laughter, the emotional moment passing.

Spellbound
Tumblr media
For: @kippin-art as part of the @flash-exchange
Character(s): Mitsunari, Ieyasu, Masamune, Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, Keiji, and Hideyoshi (sort of)
Prompt(s): Magical Apprenticeship AU, Aggressive Sentient Cookie Man, Teleporting at 2 a.m., and Chinese Zodiac... I kind of went a little wild on the prompts
Word count: 700
Title: Spellbound
Before ‘The Incident,’ weekly meetings of the Azuchi Wizard’s Guild followed a set agenda: social hour, the prior week’s minutes, current projects, and apprentice status reports. In the past, these meetings were smoothly moderated by Hideyoshi, but that was before… The Incident.
After that, meetings were concerned with one topic: “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Mitsunari?” One could put that to music (in fact, Keiji had done so).
“It’s your turn, Lad.” Masamune addressed Ieyasu and received a green-eyed death glare in response. “We’ve all done it. And survived.” He glanced toward Hideyoshi’s chair. “More or less.”
“Survived? A reminder: Aggressive Sentient Cookie Man.” At Ieyasu’s words, Masamune winced.
“You must admit that an army of those gingerbread soldiers would be terrifying.” Mitsuhide lounged in a club chair, petting his fox familiar. “His ideas are genius - their execution needs refining.”
In response, Ieyasu flicked his fingers, activating a memory in the scrying mirror:
“Wizard Mitsuhide, sir, I have perfected a teleportation spell!” Mitsunari holds out a paper.
“That would indeed be useful.” Mitsuhide scans the spell… then disappears… reappearing in a strange woman’s bedroom.  “Well, this is most definitely not where I wanted to teleport. Sorry for appearing in your bed at two a.m.”
Supreme Wizard Nobunaga banged the gavel for attention. “A silent teleportation spell is quite useful. Mitsunari is too brilliant to be expelled.”
“Even after… that?” Ieyasu gestured to Hideyoshi’s chair, currently occupied by a monkey.
The monkey-formerly-known-as-Hideyoshi blew a raspberry.
“Bad timing that Mitsunari sneezed while creating a magic calendar. It might wear off… eventually?”  Masamune shrugged. No one knew whether Hideyoshi would return to human form when the Year of the Monkey ended… or become a rooster.
“Everyone agrees, Ieyasu. It’s your turn.” Nobunaga snapped his fingers and Mitsunari’s apprenticeship contract appeared in Ieyasu’s hand.
Ieyasu glared at ‘everyone’ with an expression that clearly said, ‘I hate you all,’ then stalked out.
Outside the door, Mitsunari awaited his fate. Ieyasu sighed. “Don’t stand there. Come on.” Without waiting for a response, he continued walking.
Mitsunari hurried after. “Are you my new master? Thank you very much, Wizard, sir. I look forward to working with you.
Tumblr media
One week later…
“Well, Lad, how is Mitsunari’s apprenticeship going? You’ve been quiet tonight.” Small talk – but true. Ieyasu hadn’t even complained about anything.
Wordlessly, Ieyasu activated the scrying mirror…
Ieyasu plunks a tray of bottles on a lab table. “A refill request from the Government, for Diplomacy Potion. Follow the recipe exactly. Even you cannot screw it up.”
“Thank you very much, sir. I am honored by your faith in me.” Mitsunari bows.
The memory fast forwards to:
“Finished, sir.” Mitsunari brings the filled bottles to Ieyasu.
Ieyasu squints at them. “It looks cloudy.”
“I modified it.”
“How?” Ieyasu uncorks a bottle, releasing a pink cloud. “What did you do?” He takes a step back. The cloud follows. Another step. The cloud follows. Soon Ieyasu is scuttling around the room with the cloud bobbing after him like a cotton candy balloon.
“Some people hate the taste, so I aerosolized it.”
“Make it stop! Help me!”
Mitsunari tries to catch the spellcloud and in the process trips Ieyasu. While they are both tangled in Mitsunari’s robes, the spellcloud zooms up Ieyasu’s nose...
The mirror fades out.
“This would be an easy way to administer poison.” Mitsuhide was already planning the implementation of spellclouds.
“An extremely useful weapon.” Nobunaga nodded. “I’m pleased. Bring him in.”
Ieyasu opened the doors, motioning Mitsunari inside. “Don’t panic, friend. They love your modification. My fellow wizards, announcing the genius apprentice Mitsunari.” Then Ieyasu smiled.
All attention in the room snapped to Ieyasu. That smile was… creepy.
“Lad, how else did you modify the Diplomacy Spell?” Masamune nervously looked from Ieyasu to Mitsunari.
“The effects are strengthened by the delivery method.” Mitsunari played with his glasses.
“Dear me.” Mitsuhide smirked. “So Ieyasu is forced to be pleasant and diplomatic?”
Ieyasu smiled. Then he slapped his hand over his mouth and nodded.
“I brought the bottles with me,” Mitsunari held up a clinking sack. “If anyone wants to try… ah-ah-ACHOO!”
Crash
A cloud of pink smoke rose from the bag.
Meeting adjourned.

Ikemen Sengoku: What-If Collection Event - Warlord Pets
Tumblr media
THE HERD - PART 2 - Azuchi Crew
Part 2 of the April Fool's fanfiction of a What-if Collection Event, your taking care of the Azuchi Crew. Hope to see you soon for Kasagayama Crew next. Also sorry for the wait. University has got my hands tied. (Writing a book for class)
Never would I thought that taking care of animals can be quite the handful sometimes. But at the same time it is like a miniature zoo of warlords I have to take care of. Even though they can be high maintenance; it makes up for their adorableness.
Day 1
Since the warlords were animals I decided to keep them in the castle of Azuchi until they got better and returned to their normal forms. Thankfully they are still able to eat normally like their human counterparts. Nobunaga would rest my shoulder for most of the day and then other times he would be flying around with Haguro and would be gone for most of the day and return later in the evening.
Masamune would play would Shogetsu and would cutely pounce on each other like adorable siblings. I can tell Shogetsu was being very careful to avoid hitting Masamune’s eye. Still cute none the less how they would play tag, take naps, and would snuggle and cuddle with me. Both of them are such cute and free spirit tigers.
Mitsuhide despite being a white fox he still manages to tease me with his tail making me jump in fright, draw on my face with ink, or tickle me. Don’t get me wrong it can sometimes be cute but also annoying because I have to give him a bath to clean up his tail. I have also noticed that he would purposely make himself dirty and would make me clean him with a bath. He’s happy when I bathe him but gets upset when he’s clean and would purposely get dirty again. Wait…? Is he purposely making himself dirty so touch him all over as I clean him? That clever Kitsune! Can I really be mad at him though that something so childish is Mitsuhide, its pretty cute.
Ieyasu was not much trouble. Although I have developed a bad habit by picking up Ieyasu only for him to adorably lick me. He would nap in the sun with Wasabi, but I would see Wasabi licking Ieyasu clean, even though he boop her to stop. But of course Wasabi doesn’t listen and eventually accepts the affection he’s receiving. The only thing that I have to be wary of his spicy appetite. He gets stinky pretty often due to his droppings and have to clean him and change up his diet so he wouldn’t get as smelly. It annoys him, but I’m already tired with Mitsuhide tricks of getting his cleaning obsession.
Mitsunari as a cat was probably the most calm and most obedient of the Azuchi pets. I know shocker. He doesn’t scratch any of the items in his room. The only thing he would do would use his paw to get my attention if he wants something. He would use his paw to help turn the pages if he is reading a book. His doe like eyes were too stunning to ignore. He would lick me with affection and would cuddle with me when we rest for the day. Neko would lick him when he’s asleep like a mother cat taking care of a small kitten. Mitsunari doesn’t lick her but he has no problem of licking me. He eats more often then his human counterpart; seems like he can’t ignore his hunger for long. Also he is quite talkative as a cat. He meows every time he sees Ieyasu but of course Ieyasu runs away. Although I did catch a rare sight of Mitsunari napping and Ieyasu laying next to him protectively. He stared at me as if to say “You didn’t see it, move on”
Hideyoshi was of course a sweetheart, yet pretty clingy. As I am taking care of the other animals he would be on my shoulder keeping an eye on the others like a guard as I walk throughout the palace of Azuchi. Or he would follow Nobunaga and hang out in a nearby tree with Mitsuhide below them. It was funny how such a heartwarming monkey taking care of Nobunaga and even the others making sure that there were no bugs like termites or fleas despite giving them a bath. The only I guess you could say misfit was Keiji who seems to burrow in the garden and sadly Mitsunari and sometimes even Masamune would fall into the holes. Hideyoshi would get the help of Yukimura to refill the holes back up as Nobunaga chases after Keiji in punishment of damaging the garden. Hideyoshi would play with my hair and would design it on occasion and play with Uri by playing music.
Now that I am on the subject of Keiji he is hilarious. He is very hearty when he is filled with food, it was almost as if once he is fed he is hyper and full of energy. He would always entertain me by doing something silly. He would oink and would snuggle into me. But he usually behaves this way because he done something naughty but harmless. From damaging the garden by burrowing underground and would push another warlord in the hole. But he did get pushed into the hole by Mitsuhide and buried Keiji in the hole. Jisei would always help him out of the hole. Nobunaga did give him quite a scare as payback from rummaging in the kitchen and causing a huge mess and Jisei did eat a couple of Nobunaga's precious konpeito. Note to self; don't eat Nobunaga's konpeito. Unless offered.
