Okay, we've discussed aphantasia - in lack of inner imagery - but here's a new question: do you have inner speech? I've linked to a podcast about this (there's a transcript, too) in the Comments.

My own daily life is directed/narrated/remarked-upon in my inner voice. And I hear every word I read or write. Often, a line of dialog was the first thing that set a chapter or entire novel off.

Characters had very distinct voices as the stories developed. I sometimes felt that I was just transcribing their "speech." As I used to say, "There's a fine line between what I do as a novelist and a condition people take medication for..."

The experience was especially vivid with particular characters. There was a night on tour for Dreamers, when I was also writing Doc, when I woke up in my hotel room to Doc's "voice" telling me, "Write this down, darlin." That became the scene when he asked each visitor to "Tell me about a day when you were happy."

And now I wanna talk about my own experience of this in a really cringe and self congratulatory way lol.

I feel like there's usually nothing going on in my mind, but when there is it's always positive or neutral. And it's always a dialog between me and either a specific person or some abstract Person B. Often where they ask me a question like "what's your favourite X" or just about anything that I've learned about recently and I want to think about that information and I do like a lil ted talk at them. Or often scenarios where I've done something good and the other person is praising me for it. Or they've presented a dilemma and I'm offering advice.

I've thought about this before because a friend of mine said they have a near constant negative inner voice and I thought wow, I'm really grateful that's not my experience. And I wondered why our experiences are so different. That video made me wonder if it's because my parents were (as I remember) always positive and encouraging and kind to me, so my inner voice is still like that back to myself. It made me think I need to be like that to my kids in future. But I am like this to everyone is my life in general really, a colleague thanked me for this the other day

In general I am a positive person and I think my inner voice and that aspect of my personality form a virtuous circle.

I wish there were some way I could help my friend not have an inner mind like that. My only thought (that I haven't suggested) has been keto, because some people say it brings a calmness to their mind. Which I didn't experience particularly other than it calming feelings of hunger for me. But that wouldn't be a permanent solution anyway.

There isn't an answer to that or really any point to this post I just wanted to ramble on the topic of my inner voice. I kinda wanna get a beeper thing and actually track what inner thoughts I'm having at random to see if my self perception is even accurate.

Something I like about Leo is that he’s honestly really chill? It’s easy to remember the moments where he’s being obnoxious or excitable but I feel like most of the time he’s incredibly “go with the flow” and has an overall affable demeanor.

another test recolor (using slightly different shades for the red), same thing with top/bottom distinction:

I can't tell if this would be worth doing (I would have to go back and update earlier pages to match, which wouldn't take too long probably but would be a little annoying) or if the existing palette is fine. I'm having trouble making the recolors not look dark and muddy, either-- it looks like nighttime constantly unless a window is visible, and adding a faint white gradient from the ceiling only does so much. I don't think red interior walls really work well in a monochrome comic, RIP.

(I think the second recolor attempt turned out a lot better than the first, in any case.)

Today I'm gonna be talking about my babies wren and oak cos I love them so much. And I've also been seeing people say they don't really know them?? It might help y'all out since I've spotted lots of parallels between them and I'm obsessed 😭😭

(ps I'm really bad at writing these type of things so it's prolly gonna be a bit all over the place but nevermind lmao)

At the end oak says this massive paragraph basically declaring his love for wren. I think it's really beautiful and gives a really good summary on why they romance is just o beautiful 👌💕

He says at the end that noone gets us but us and I think the reason for this is they're more similar then you think

These two both hold family ay the very basis of everything they do (okay maybe not everything) family is their EVERYTHING and they'd do pretty much anything for them. Oak would put himself into conspiracies and risk his life for them constantly so Jude and Cardan could stay on the throne. And wren sacrificed everything she loved and cared for for her unfamily, a family who she hadn't seen in years and didn't think cared for her any longer:

Oak had been willing to sacrifice wren for Jude and Cardan - wren who was his everything - and wren had been willing to sacrifice herself. What I love is I think each other RECOGNISES this is the other.

2. They both know each other wears a mask around other people. When they're with each other, it's one of the only time that they let this mask fall. Not only does this show the trust they have towards each other but the care.

When they're with each other it's the ONLY time they can be their true selves. No more hiding. And I think this is super important in a relationship:

They both see and don't deny that they're both monsters. But they love each other anyway. I think the reason oak gets so mad at the end is because he thought he KNEW the real wren. But he gets worried that that was all just an illusion. A lie. What's important is that they don't have to hide away from each other, oak and wren both love each others flaws. Oak felt like he couldn't be loved properly because he didn't think anyone truly knew him but wren does.

3. They both want to be loved SO SO badly. Wren yearns for love. She craves it so badly it hurts:

And oak loves to be liked, he's also mentioned this many many times. However, he believes himself to be a monster so doesn't think he's capable of being properly loved (and also due to the fact that noone knows the true him):

4. They both believe themselves to be monsters. Oak due to his bloodlust and wren due to her being a hag and such. What I like is they don't deny that they monstrous. They accept it and love them for it. They understand the pain each other has been put through and understand why they are full of this rage and pain:

Overall, they're just two babies with such a raw understanding of each other it makes me SICK!!😭 They just get each other which I don't think is something Jurdan entirely had. Oak needed wren and wren needed him. They can't hide from each other. They see through each other. I want I love like this, I ache for it. I love these guys so so much 😭
