I've got to say. I feel like the current thing holding me back from Writing the most is, like. the.... drag in the physics sense of the word of having Long Unfinished Works making me suddenly extremely cautious about publishing anything that I do not have The Rest Of The Story Written
#and honestly this is one thing when it's 'maybe I don't want to start new fic until I've finished at least 80% of the fic'#but this is also currently dragging on me in terms of like#oh gods the moment that I publish a novel that is not stand-alone#that is the Hugest Fucking Pressure to Write In That Series#like honestly this might be one of the reasons that I'm writing 'The Crane And The Knife' from scratch#instead of taking all of the two months it will take me to polish the latest draft of Opus#Opus II is going to be INSANELY long and I haven't started it at all and just#staring at it and all my unfinished fic and all the fic I want to write but also like#how much I hope people will love Opus and want more!!!!#vs how fucking Stressful it will be that Opus II is kind of two books and I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to 300k#of trying to Produce that under Pressure#it reminds me that I'm burned out and Exhausted instead of 'woot woot writing is fun!!!!!'#anyways just rambling to myself#The Crane And The Knife is really funny#and luckily The Heart And The Heartless is MEANT to be released chapter by chapter as a webnovel#so if people love TCATK it's waaaaay easier for me to get ahead in writing and then start releasing THATH instead of having to scramble#for my own sanity might want to like. write Opus II while Opus I is in beta.#my life#my writing#honestly honestly like. I was kind of hoping to be finished with ttbotr and wriu by now#I think I would feel SO much better if I had ANY complete works to my name#esp given ifmlam is probably starting up again relatively soon?#which is just going to. Bring Back The Pressure.

Thanks to @abyssal-ali for the tag! This took so long to compile lol
Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason.
Uh oh 😅
❥ My first fic was actually a disgustingly long word doc that glitched out my computer and someone deleted 😔 just for a fun fact ✨
❥ My first fic would be Will you be my fairy tale?
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Agents of SHEILD 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Daisy Johnson/Daniel Sousa
✐ Set in 7x07, beginning of 8. Daisys in the healing chamber and Daniel Sousa decided to stay there with her. Just a cute little snippet of what he was up to while he was waiting for Daisy to arise from her slumber/healing.
❥ Last fic published was Dreaming Of Anemone (though my last work published was HaiBOO but it’s an original work)
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Bio dad au
✐ The Wayne's might have been public figures, but there's a lot of mysteries behind those grand closed doors. Mr. Wayne for one was quite suspicious. They were hiding something and Marinette would figure out what. Even if it exposed a secret or two. Identities weren't the only thing they were hiding.
Flowers can kill after all.
❥ A fic with a ship I’ve only written once is Coming Home To Peaceful Disaster
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Damian Wayne
✐ Damian is so tired, all he wants to do is come home, have a cup of his girlfriends famous hot chocolate, and fall asleep in his loves arms.
But this isn’t too bad either.
❥ My favorite fic. That’s a hard one. I think it have to be Dreaming of Anenome despite its incomplete status but since that one’s already on this list I’ll promote another: Death Bouquet
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Cassandra Cain/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
✐ It's hard to figure out whom your heart longs for when you've spent so long ignoring it. Letting the flowers bloom in your throat as you struggle to breath always left wondering.
Marinette lived her days in Pairs, her eyes on Adrien. But...was that truly what her heart wanted? Or was it a face she hadn't seen in a long time but still haunted her thoughts like the scorch marks left after a fire.
❥ The fic I wish more people would read is Rose Gold Eyes
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Selina Kyle/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
✐ The rooftops were often silent at night, the streets were where havoc rained.
The rooftops were often silent at night, a cat endlessly chasing darkness.
The rooftops were often silent at night, and so that’s where she lay.
The rooftops were often silent at night, so was her suffering.
❥ The fic I agonized the most over is literally any fic in my Flowers Aren’t Always A Love Language series (especially Dreaming of Anenome) because I always try to put as much flower language in as possible to put a story within the story. Otherwise it’s An Angel With Demons Wings. I wrote that to get back into writing after a tough time and put a lot of pressure to get it perfect for my wonderful friend @tylindel whom I love. I did a lot of dancing research and made art to go with it.
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Damian Wayne/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
✐ “They call you a demon but all I’ve ever seen in you was an angel.”
“Even in my worst moments?”
“An angel with anger issues.”
❥ The easiest fic is From Your Favorite Chaos Gremlins. I was spouting ideas like a sprinkler and was really ahead of my writing partners to the point they couldn’t keep up with me. I got overexcited and wrote all but one line of the second chapter. Of course this fic has ended early despite all the ideas left over as authors split so it remains forever unfinished.
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Platonic Marinette Dupain-Cheng & Tim Drake & Damian Wayne
✐ Family is defined as a group of people related to one another by blood or marriage.
None of them were related by blood nor marriage nor any magical force, only their own love for one another.
Family to them was each other.
And all it takes is a pinch of coffee and a whole lot of chaos.
On the streets of Gotham, the chaos gremlins reign.
❥ A work I’m proud of is Hold Me Tight Till Morning Light. Originally written for the lovely @tylindel ’s birthday, I wasn’t sure how much I liked it though but @tree-reads really helped my confidence in it with her appreciation of it and it makes me love it too. Otherwise it be Dreaming of Anenome or anything in my Flowers series because I work hard on them and I love hanahaki so much.
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Damian Wayne/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
✐ Sometimes your demons take control of your body and mind, you never had full authority over yourself as your plagued with memories time and time again, filling your head with thoughts you'd rather rid. Sleepless nights were always in the cards. But that's why there's always your rope, your light, your love, your life, that will be there to pull you back from the darkness.
OR
3 times Damian helped Marinette with her demons and one time he didn't have to.

hey I know you said you were thinking about posting around April
Do you have a date in mind?
if not it’s perfectly ok we’ll be waiting as long as you need for the sun and moon ☺️
ahhh, anon! This is a loaded question, lol, not that you would know that. But here is the conclusion that I have come to, after many, many shifts, moves, outlining rounds, trial and error, etc.
I have unfortunately decided that I have enough material for two fics.
In some ways, it was a little silly of me to think I could squeeze Jerejean's POV all into one fic when I had the material of both DON & DBD to work with. But here we are. After cutting three chapters altogether (THREE anon!!) and doing my best to cut the other chapters ruthlessly, I'm still looking at about 60K words, unfinished, and I haven't even touched DBD's timeline yet.
So, although I reserve the right to change my mind, I've decided instead of publishing Once In a Blue Moon, I will first be uploading Place in the Sun - a fic focusing on Jerejean's relationship through their time at USC. And yes, my goal is still to publish it in April. (Wish me luck, anon 😭😭)
Now I have to be clear since the timing is sensitive. For better or worse, I have established Jeremy's and Jean's characters in this AU with the limited canon information I had before TSC. Once TSC is published, these characters will likely conflict with what Nora has decided, but I won't be changing them. Where canon fits into the plan, I'll look to include, but the family members I've made up for them, friends, agents, personality quirks, etc., etc., I'm going to keep true to the AU I've built. It is what it is at this point, and though I feel somewhat awkward about it since I've tried to keep their characters close to canon, I'm very proud and happy with the A Falling Star series. I'd like to finish Kerejean's stories and do them justice as I've always planned to.
This in no way diminishes my excitement for TSC - I'm beyond thrilled that Nora has decided to give us canon Jean, Jeremy, and all the Trojans. It's going to be amazing and devastating and everything we've hoped for, I'm sure. But I have to be fair to the fic I've created as well.
So....there we have it, anon. Hope that answers your question. 😅

Writing Update
Tumblr media
I’m focusing right now just to push through and finally finish the first part of my faerie au series The Sassenach Faerie. I hope to have all chapters published before the second anniversary of initially posting it. But I do basically post as I write because I don’t write ahead I only outline stories ahead. I write when I get the motivation too and that comes in random spurts with various time frames between. I’ve had the entire first part planned since the beginning, and most of the story planned for the second part but not as much. The third part of the series which just follows Faith as she’s older with Joanie (Faith’s “Jamie/Claire”) and her other siblings/family/friends to France is up in the air for if I ever will actually get to it.
Da mi diebus mille is sort of the same story for me in terms of planning. But also, as I write more things pop up that I think to add so there may be even more chapters in the end. I have a flexible outline for the first part, but a more vague idea of what I want in the second. I honestly just work on the story as I feel like it I feel no rush in writing fic, but it is nice sometimes to create fake deadlines in my mind so I actually get up and write. I will never have a posting schedule, that’s just who I am.
I started a new fic, Neamhnaid Fola, which will hopefully be shorter, like how The Stone’s Toll is, and I’ll probably just flip flop between that and Da mi diebus mille updates until one or both is finished and then I will focus on the unfinished one. I’m thinking Neamhnaid Fola will be more between 6-10 chapters but when have things ever gone as planned in life?
I have so many ideas I want to get to too, and I hope I do one day, but maybe in the long run open ended one-shots will work best for me as I can revisit them later. I do have an idea for a reincarnation fic that I really want to get to too and have made a moodboard for. Have a lovely day friends bless up 🙏

Favorite fics? Doesn't have to be rise or even turtle related
Oh man I got very excited for this ask. I have been in a lot of different fandoms for a very long time- but lets start with some of my all timers.
Now What I'm Going To Say May Sound Indelicate (Rated E)
A Reddie fic for It CH2, which I've probably reread about fifty times. It's unfinished, and probably never will be finished, but it's absolutely worth a read. The writing is incredible, and it's my singular favorite fic of all time. A lot of medical procedures and recovery, since (spoiler) someone gets impaled at the end of the movie and this is exploring how they might live through that.
_________________________________________________
Blue Sky (Rated T (from what I remember))
PDF VERSION
I hope this link works- the first link is fanfiction dot net, which is hard to use after so many years, and the other is a pdf I found of someone who downloaded a version to share. This fic is from 2011, and is actually pretty famous. Based off of Portal 2, what happens when Wheatley gets a body? I've actually been meaning to reread it because I barely remember it at this point, but this fic came out about a year before I graduated high school and opened my eyes to the fact that fanfiction can be actual published novel quality.
Also friendly reminder that if you love a fic, download it. Not to repost obviously, but websites disappear and works get deleted for any number of reasons and you may in fact be helping an author out.
_________________________________________________
Wow. This is fucking wild-
From Out the Ocean Risen (Rated T)
A Pacific Rim fic that started publishing in 2013- last time I reread this, YEARS AGO, the series was as of yet unfinished. It's a fantastic body-horror-esque story of the implications of aliens and hiveminds and what makes a monster. It's Newton Giezler-centric and FANTASTICALLY written-
and it JUST updated this month in 2023. I had no idea, but searching through my fic list made me notice. I thought, surely it's just an update to apologize for abandoning the fic- but no! It's an actual new chapter.
If you guys ever wanted to show support for a fic that's been abandoned, this one deserves it immensely. Show it some love, it's never too late to hop on board and enjoy a fic and you never know what someone will return to.
_________________________________________________
Pirate King Laurence (Rated T)
'His Majesties Dragon' is a super good age of sail book series, sometimes called 'Temeraire', that's as if a Pride and Prejudice character was captain of a dragon crew. This is a little bit of an AU to that, and is one of my all time favorite Temeraire fic series.
_________________________________________________
the run and go (Rated M)
Post Homestuck fic. 560k words. Still being updated- enough said, it's fantastic. This is probably the longest fic on my list. Involves a lot of unpacking about Dave and Bro and not just what it's like recovering from an abusive childhood, but reconciling with the person you love who abused you. Also everyone lives. Everyone.
_________________________________________________
>Dave: survive three years on this rock (Rated T)
One more Homestuck fic for the road- there was a period of time where the Homestuck tag was nothing BUT meteor fic. If you were in the fandom, iykyk. This one was probably the most in character Dave and great portrayal of what it would be like actually living within a universe made up of date game mechanics.
_________________________________________________
The Other Hawke (Rated E)
If anyone's gone through the rest of my fic besides TMNT stuff, they've seen my SECOND largest fandom I've written for, which was Dragon Age. More specifically, I fixated on most peoples least favorite character on the whole series- Carver Hawke. Hahaha. I just really fixate on the oddest characters, huh?
This is a fic about what his life outside of his brother is like, and giving him a lot of depth that you don't get in the video game series. Also he is getting dicked down by Fenris, which is a fantastic pairing I didn't know I needed. It's hilarious, and romantic, and very tense.
Man. I gotta reread a lot of these. Thanks so much for the ask! Sorry if it got a little out of hand haha.

Hey torship.. do u think ppl binge reading on long ongoing fanfictions are bad? I was just finished bingeing a work and another reader commented before me like " oh wow icb i've just finished this (200k+series) in 2 days, what am i gonna binge read now?" And i was like, whoa so honest bro, would that hurt the feeling of the author or not? If it was said like that..
Hey✨
Hmmm, I've not really thought much on it, not enough to have a solid answer off the cuff. I'll try and muddle through it but, short answer? Don't we all 'binge' read?
Long answer is a bit more scrambled but stick with me.
I mean, you gotta join an ongoing fic at some point. If you mean specifically the type of binging where readers wait until updates pile up so they can read big chunks of the story in one go (I have readers who do this, you poor things will be on tenterhooks for decades at this point lol) or, maybe, they wait until the story is completed to start... That's a little different but it's not bad or wrong. I think it's more that, when you read that way, you're distancing yourself from the author's ongoing creativity.
Now, quick disclaimer, a fic is a fic and you can read it however you like, I binge stuff all the time. But fanfic is different from published OG work because the reader DOES have that opportunity to, kinda, participate in the creative process, to be there every step - or update - of the way.
I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this question, it's about how you approach your reading as much as how you view your writing. To me, as an author with a majority of ongoing works AND breaks in my updating, comments like that are a bit... Sweet and sour. This person binged my fic, maybe even the whole series or all of my works, and now they're left adrift with all these cliffhangers and emotions and the track is hanging, suspended and unfinished, and it's hard to scale off the ride by yourself. I always feel feral when I come up for air after a binge like that, like one of those pics of deer in dark grasses and the eyes are all lit up by the torch. You devoured my work like an animal, all fingers and teeth? I'm delighted!
But the listlessness of an unfinished work binge can also, intentionally or not, sting. Like, yeah, I know that was a lot to leave you hanging with, ain't it rough? (But please don't beg me for more because then the pressure makes it worse) and oh you read all 50K in one day, so you must've been so gripped? (You only commented on the last chapter, you ate that five course meal with a ladle and you mashed all the dishes together and did you even notice the care and garnish?)
My slowly revealed banquet becomes a buffet, whether you're picking at it or gorging. It's a different experience altogether. That's not your fault and it's not mine. It just is.
Most people don't pace themselves when they start a new show, you watch everything you can get your grubby paws on before jumping over to AO3, so why does binge reading become a thing in fandom? Because, for most people, it's the slower process that really makes the experience so positive. I've never published a work that was rubber-stamped finished before the readers ever saw it, so I'll be honest that I'm talking out of my ass as per usual, but I don't think I'd want to just.... Post all the chapters together. I want the reactions, I want the anticipation, I want the readers to travel with me.
To come back to your actual example tho, Neptune, "what am I gonna binge read now?" Is a comment that I would largely overlook by itself. I mean, if that's it, nothing about enjoying the work or thanking the author or anything to soften it, then it's a bit of a micro. Up there with letting the door swing behind you instead of holding it for the person after. (No harm really meant, just in your own world)
If it's part of a comment that expresses that the reader might've shoved down those five courses without savouring the flavours but they just REALLY loved that food, then it's more than fine, it's a big compliment! You were so busy eating that you barely paused for breath! And binging isn't a prerequisite to not commenting or savouring! It's like a mukbang, they love the flavours but fucking hell can they pack down that food in one sitting.
If it's rude, entitled, then I wouldn't give it the time of day. Putting something out there does not mean you're entitled to getting something back, even a smile or thanks. That doesn't, however, mean that it's not poor manners. And, if someone comes into my house and wolfs down my five course banquet before huffing with impatience or immediately leaving for their next meal, that's only a reflection of them and not me. I put the meal out, I can't tell people how to eat it.
This metaphor is running away from me lmao
TLDR: everyone binges, it's not a bad thing. But your manners matter and we should all be mindful that you're enjoying something for free; if the author wanted that conversation between chapters, if the author thinks binging is a compliment, if the author doesn't care at ALL. It's not a crime to be "late" to an ongoing fic, it's not a crime to read how you want.
Personally? I binge a lot, I try to comment as much as I can, and I try to remember that fandom is about community. I hadn't thought too much on the topic before this, tbh, and I don't even know if this makes any sense but I tried to sound it out for you guys anyway.

One Piece 1098 spoilers!
Things I liked this week!
But first, I hope Oda is okay? I don't want to speculate as to why he couldn't finish this week's chapter's art, but I'll try not to get worried unless we get official word from SJ or him. Anyway, here goes:
One faintly bright side of this chapter's published condition is getting a little glimpse of Oda's pencils, this isn't really something manga fans get to see too often (unless you watch Manben, which qf I really ought to... a recent episode has Shinichi Sakamoto! but I'm getting off topic lol)
Even unfinished this cover page ROCKS HARD I love when Brook is doing cool things and not talking
This part is... nearly too bleak for words. I'm glad this is One Piece or this section would a lot harder to get through, plus a lot more tasteless (thanks, many seinen manga!)
I'd be more annoyed about this if it wasn't all but confirmed before now that something terrible happened to Ginny.
I wonder is this blue gem skin disease some sort of safeguard against CD captives escaping... and if so, who created it...
"Don't worry Ginny... I'll raise your daughter" is just... if any other series pulled this, I'd be furious at the tryhard bullshit. Here, it's just devastating. And yet Kuma has even more to lose...
oh hey Sabo. put that down.
Evidently something cured Bonney, or at least delays the disease enough for her to now live and enter natural light. But how, and what?
YEAH BONNEY MAKE EM CRY SO LONG FUCKOS
KUMA JUMPSCARE! I love just how OP Dad he's being rn, it suits him so well
I wonder did either of them get to Fishman Island eventually...
I love kid Bonney, she's so full of beans Q Q
aaaaaaand now yer king man is back at it again, hopefully he gets Mountbattened this time. I can't even look forward to that bc next chapter = more Kuma suffering 'c` bloody hell
No word yet on a hiatus, though next week is the regular break week anyway. Until then, then. 💪❌

I saw @antimony-medusa doing ao3 stats, and since I have not made very many og posts on this blog after making a new multifandom blog, I'm using this as a opportunity to update everyone here on what I posted this year to ao3 :)
I'm going to be blatantly ripping off Medusa's format for this.
Overall stats for 2023
--User Subscriptions: 119
--Kudos: 5,606
--Comment Threads: 306
--Bookmarks: 1,618
--Subscriptions: 846
--Word Count: 174,435
--Hits: 64,821
Everything is almost the same, except for a decrease in kudos. That makes perfect sense since I wrote a couple of rarepairs in fandoms that are less hyped about multishipping.
My user subscriptions have basically stayed the same since I started posting, likely because I organize fics down into different series so that people can sub to those instead.
Fun Stats:
Total number of fics published: 40
This was my most prolific year of fic writing! For reference, my total number of fics posted EVER is 53. I wrote a lot of short fics as treats for two different extreme timed challenge exchanges. I also got into several new fandoms this year.
Number of One-shots: 24
There's the exchange fics coming in clutch! And also the bushel of smutshots (oneshots that are pwp) that I wrote for new fandoms I got into and got very excited about writing smut for.
Number of Multichapters (Including WIPs): 14
Some oneshots become twoshots. Some multichapters had planned chapter counts and many did not.
Number of WIPs (aka unfinished works): 4
Of these, one is the most recent fic I have posted, which is being actively written and updated. One is being co-written with someone else. And the others are one hiatus.
Number of Inspired Works: 1
My total number of inspired works ever is 2. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have plenty of ideas to work with on my own.
Longest Fic: Stealing Candelabras (10,797).
Most of my works this year were under 10k, and a lot of them were even under 1k. I started the year short and ended it long. And I anticipate writing much more longfic this year. This one was long because I love vampires and making up vampire lore.
Shortest Fic: shifting eyes and vacancy, vanished when i saw your face (476). A very cute prompt that I had to fill. Title courtesy of my partner's suggestion, since they love the song so much :)
Most Kudosed fic: On the Twelfth Day of Christmas My Twin Sons Gave to Me: The Child Spy of My Enemy (586).
:/ Ah yes the last vesitges of my Dark SBI era. Not my favorite thing I've written, but it has it's audience.
The second most kudosed is The Care and Keeping of Your Vash (406). I love you trigun fandom <3
Most Viewed Fic: Same as most kudosed! But those stats do build up over time so I'm gonna highlight my fifth most view fic that was only posted a couple months ago as opposed to almost a year ago: When I'm On the Throne it's a Total Freak Zone (3,366). My second foray into exploring a character being a soft dom.
Most Subscribed Fic: Same as the most kudosed and most viewed. To be fair it had the format of the twelve day countdown to Christmas, so it hooked people into sticking around.
Most Bookmarked Fic: Same one again. My second most bookmarked was Shot Through the Heart, and You're to Blame (110). Arguably my best trigun fic, I love writing monsterfucker porn, especially as part of a larger canon divergent au. Double points for also getting to write a trans headcanon.
Most Used Fandom: Dream SMP, at 13. But if you combine all the fics for books by the same author (MXTX), it comes out to 12, which is pretty close!
Least Used Fandom: There's a couple I've only written one work for so...
1. Big Dragon the Series. This is a tiny fandom for a BL drama that I am co-writing a fic for. If you go searching for this show MIND THE WARNINGS. It is very intense from episode one so proceed with caution.
2. SMP Earth. I wish I got into this fandom when it was more popular, Now I don't know where to find the stream archives to get into the lore :(
3. Supernatural. I came back to this fandom this year only to post a trans character study of Dean and then leave it again lol.
Most Used Rating: E, 15 fics.
Like I said, I wrote a lot of smutshots lol. Second place is Teen, at 11 fics.
Least Used Rating: Mature, 0. Alternatively, Gen, at 9.
None of my fics are rated Mature this year because I discovered the wonders of smut and I can no longer do things by halves.
Most Written Relationship: Still SBI, but Quackbur is a close second.
Most Used Additional tag: I can't be bothered to look through all of this year's fics right now, but for the E rated ones I'm 90% sure it's Biting. As I've been quoted saying "biting is sexy!"
Most Frequently Used Characters: Again, SBI wins out. Though I think of all of them I have more fics with Techno than the others. (Again, too lazy to look through 40 fics right now lol).
Hopefully this was fun for someone else, because it certainly was illuminating for me. I'm much more active on my @cosmic-starfall blog nowadays but I'm still doing mcyt stuff occasionally here as well :)

Me: Alright, everything's quiet, my physical needs have been taken care of, I want to write, and brain rot about my OCs isn't in the way. Let's get to work!
ADHD toddler that lives in my head: Give me five good reasons why we should work on the work in progress
Me: 1. We get positive feedback when we update this story, which really benefits our mental health, self esteem, and motivation to write other things
2. We ended the WIP on a cliffhanger last time we updated it and it needs to be resolved
3. There is no reason not to work on the WIP
4. Autism- *points at the Autistic hermit sitting next to me*
Autistic hermit: *waves while reading a Sanders Sides transcript, a book about dolphins, and an article about clementines*
Me: - needs a routine to function, and this is a big part of that
And 5. We are fortunate enough to have parents willing to support us so that we can make writing our full time career. If we don't actually write, those two- *points at Anxiety and Depression*
Anxiety: *pacing around with a list of problems to resolve in our projects and muttering about our lack of productivity lately even though we've been productive just in other ways*
Depression: *sleeping and not bothering us because we have enough dopamine from earlier mentioned comments and interactions on Tumblr to keep them at bay for the most part*
Me: - will make life harder for us by making me feel bad for wasting that support.
ADHD Toddler: 1. Yes, that's true, but if we keep writing the WIP I'll get sick of it and want nothing to do with it anymore
Me: But we're almost done, we only have a few chapters left.
ADHD Toddler: 2. We updated that, like, two days ago? Three days? Idk how time works. Days have just felt like weeks lately for some reason so it just feels like a long time when it isn't. They can wait. Also- *gets distracted by a squirrel*
Me: Are you done?
ADHD Toddler: Huh? Oh, right...
Me: ...
ADHD Toddler: ...
Me: Well?
ADHD Toddler: What was I saying?
Me: You said people can wait for a cliffhanger, then had another point.
ADHD Toddler: Oh, right. So, these people watch Sanders Sides, right? They're used to waiting like six months or lately more than a year for the next important chapter.
Autistic Hermit: Huh...
ADHD Toddler: 3. I gave you a reason when addressing your first point, we'll get sick of it if we don't work on other things too.
Autistic Hermit: They're... Actually using really good logic...
Me: I know, it's terrifying
ADHD Toddler: 4. Routine smoutine. I'd rather have poutine.
Autistic Hermit: There it is
Me: Yep...
ADHD Toddler: And, finally... *gets distracted by a lightbulb*
Anxiety: Whelp that's it we've spent an entire hour doing absolutely nothing, we're clearly not getting any work done tonight
Me: *sighs* ADHD, if I let you say your last point, will you let me work?
ADHD Toddler: Huh? What last point?
Me: Never mind. We're going to write a really cool story now, okay?
ADHD Toddler: Okay!
Me: *gets my IPad*
ADHD Toddler: This was fun, you should post it on Tumblr.
Me: Oh yeah sure!
ADHD Toddler: Oh, right! I remembered! 5. I don't see why you think you've wasted their support by not writing all the time. Last year you wrote, edited, designed a cover for, and self published a novel of your own in one year. While doing that, you also balanced friendships, worked on your mental health, wrote like, what, three full fan novels and are about to finish another one? Not to mention all the unfinished fan fics you have that made people happy, and all the role plays which might as well be novels. Just because you're not making money yet, and you're not writing every day, doesn't mean you're wasting the support you were given.
Me: ...
Autistic Hermit: Who the hell have you been talking to? Where has all this logic come from?
ADHD Toddler: We're hyper fixated on Sanders Sides
Autistic Hermit: Fair enough
ADHD Toddler: *gasps* What if we like, made our own you tube series but like, instead of aspects of the personality like Sanders Sides it's our different disabilities?
Autistic Hermit: You thought about that before
Anxiety: We don't have the same resources Thomas Sanders has to make it professional
Autistic Hermit: Like a *shudders* team of people to work with
Anxiety: *also shudders* Or space of our own to film in
Depression: *murmurs* Or the motivation to keep dedicated to that for long...
Autistic Hermit: Or the cameras, lighting, sound equipment, video editing skills, ability to make a polished costume,
Anxiety: we can't mask Autism's traits long enough to get a good recording
Depression: *murmurs* And we don't fit conventional beauty standards enough to do well in a video based algorithm...
ADHD Toddler: I guess we'll just have to find another way to make a series that gets us a fandom one day... You know, since the book we wrote didn't get immediate results so now I'm being petty.
Autistic Hermit: Our book series is a long term project. It will get more recognition as we continue to publish the series.
Anxiety: It would get more recognition if we made more adds
ADHD Toddler: But why make Tik Toks no one interacts with but two hundred people see when we could make Tumblr posts that no one sees but two people interact a lot with?
Me: *sighs* This is getting us no where
Anxiety: Stop typing on Tumblr and get to work or we might lose our ability to work forever
Autistic Hermit: But that doesn't make sense. We've gone a long time without writing before
Depression: *murmurs* We did get a lot worse at writing after that though...
Me: I think that's more because ADHD got worse during that time so writing became harder
ADHD Toddler: Yeah
Anxiety: *scoffs* At least they admit it
Me: Anywho, I'm tagging this now, clicking post, and then we will work on our WIP. My apologies mutuals for the long post.

Hiiii! Really random, but I want to start a x reader rewrite of a show and I was wondering if you had a few tips for how you did sub Rosa? It seems like such a big project but fun at the same time and I want to attempt it but I don’t really know how to go about it lol!
Sub Rosa is absolutely stellar by the way, I’m literally in love with it! I’ve only gotten to the second season because I found your account only recently and I’m very late to watching the 100 but I obviously had to get into the fanfiction! I’m hoping to find more The 100 writers and fics as well that I love, but I haven’t had the time until now! Well this got away from me a bit, but if you have any tips, thank you! If not or anything, you’re still awesome and I hope you have a good day!
omg heyyyyy babes!! first off, thank you for your kind words!!! you dont even know what you just activated bc i am a certified type A virgo 😅 i talked about this a little bit when i first finished publishing sub rosa so ill link you to that post here. this shows some of the notes, outline, maps, etc that i kept up with during the course of writing!
for me, i started with an outline of all 100 episodes and the basic summary of what happened. then as i rewatched the show and figured out where i wanted la lune, i would put that in that episodes notes. i'd also jot down any questions i had about where people were or what was going on bc one thing about the 100 is everyone is gonna be in 10 different locations lmao. so i had to decide if la lune would be by herself or with this group and that group. that was the main thing that really helped me with this undertaking!
also depending on what series you're writing for, i love things like maps and such. it just helped me a lot to visualize how long it may take the characters to get to certain areas in the show. this is ovi dependent on the fandom though!
other than that? my main advice is probably to just reread your chapters as much as possible! i would do this to make sure i didnt accidentally leave a plot line open or unfinished, and to make sure everyone is where i want them to be and that i know where all special items may be (like la lune's necklace). stuff like that isnt a big deal to everyone but it really mattered to me! also tracking injuries and scars! you cant have someone get beat up in chapter 3 and be running perfectly in chapter 4. i mean, you can lmao, but i guarantee someone will point it out!
i think that's everything?? if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask bc sub rosa is my magnum opus and i will take endlessly about the process to anyone that asks lmao. have a good day bb and good luck writing!!
oh i also have a 100 rewrite directory! a few links may be broken bc i havent updated it in a bit, but it may help you find a more writers you like! that can be found here!

Behind the Keyboard Volume 20
Tumblr media
Behind the Keyboard is a series of interviews with different Schitt’s Creek fanfic authors. The series will last as long as there is interest (from authors) and capacity (from me). If you are an author from the Schitt’s Creek fandom who would like to participate, send a DM to this account.
Each author was given ten questions. The first five questions are the same for every author, the last five will vary.
Let’s meet our next author:
@goodiecornbread /  GoodieCornbread
How many fics have you written?
38, including my unfinished WIP
When did you publish your first fic on AO3?
Early November 2020
Describe your writing process from “Oh, I have an idea” to pushing publish on AO3.
It usually starts with my messaging my friend chat with the phrase: "New fic idea!" I throw out a basic premise and see if anything gains traction.
I should be honest and say that this happens at least weekly for me. Sometimes it's as randomly silly as "Patrick buys this silly hat and won't take it off!" and sometimes it becomes a 50k word fic.
Tell me about your most recent fic? What do you love about it? Is there anything you think you could have done better?
I'm currently working on my biggest fic yet, over 80k words as of now. [Editor’s note: Begin the World Again is now finished!] The premise is that shortly after David and Patrick start dating, Rachel reveals that she is pregnant. When Patrick comes out to her, she shows her true homophobic colors and refuses to have anything to do with him, including the baby.
I started posting chapters before it was finished, and there are things looking back I wish I could change. I feel like some chapters have just been all fluff and no substance. My next long fic I plan on writing completely before publishing.
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about publishing their fic for the first time?
Do it!
Talk to your friends and internet mutuals, whether they've published or just read. Throw out ideas, get suggestions, and most importantly… do it! Even if you make up a new pseudonym to publish under, just put it out into the world. Everyone starts somewhere.
That being said, get a beta. Just a second set of eyes to double check grammar and syntax or phrasing. It really makes a world of difference.
When did you start writing?
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I love to talk, I love to write.
I started writing fanfic in middle school, but stopped in high school. Then I found SC and AO3 and fell back in love.
If you could say one thing to your fellow fic writers, what would it be?
Thank you. Thank you for taking one little world and making it so much bigger and beautiful.
The beginning, middle or end of a fic. Which do you like the most? Which is the worst?
Middle is the worst. I usually have the beginning in my head, and the general ending. But the middle gets muddled and can be slow going.
I prefer the beginning because it's where all of my momentum is.
The end is always a little sad.
What does a successful fic look like to you?
One that you're happy with. One that you feel proud to put out there. Comments and kudos and recs are nice, but if you're happy with it, then it's successful.
Tell me about a story that you wish you could write but that you’re not quite ready to tackle.
I have a lot of ideas in a notebook that I plan to eventually write, but the one I’ve been holding off on is one that can have some delicate topics. It’ll be a oneshot or short fic where Stevie finds a love interest. Let’s see if I can handle it!

Frequently Asked Questions
Hi! If I’m asked a question more often than sometimes, it’s probably here. Static page also accessible at this link.
When is the next chapter coming out?
I update on Friday mornings, weekly, usually before noon PST. If it’s a Friday and you don’t see an update, it’s either because I’m on a writing break, or we’re in a hiatus between books. Or I've been hit by a car or something.
Do you have social media?
Aside from Tumblr — nope! I’m one of those hermit types. My AO3 account was previously the only place I was active online. I made a Tumblr so I could offer a platform to interact with people who are more comfortable here than in the AO3 comments section (for instance, there’s no anonymity function on AO3; you can log out and comment as a guest, but that’s a lot of work, and then there's not an easy way to check if your question was answered.)
Can I tag you in [thing]?
Yeah! I check back in here every few days, on average, to scope out my inbox and my mentions. If you make something for my fic, I’ll publicize it everywhere, obviously.
Can I bind your fics?
Yep! Carte blanche. I don’t own the copyright for anything I write, so I appreciate the thoughtfulness of people asking, but you can absolutely go ahead and do whatever the hell you want with the text of my fic. Print it, paint it, burn it, bind it, turn it into blackout poetry. Transformative art is human nature. But if you do, please, please, show me! I’ll scream for a thousand years.
Caveat: I’ve seen some people have anxieties about the sale of bound fics for profit, since they’re worried about publishers cracking down on copyright violation and litigating fanfiction. This is tough, because on the one hand, bookbinding can be expensive; on the other hand, selling fic is a violation of copyright, and the only way AO3 is allowed to exist is by authors making precisely $0 from anything they post. (This is why AO3 will boot you immediately if they catch you trying to make money from non-original works on their site — if I so much as drop a PayPal link in the description for Lionheart, the fic will quickly be taken down, and my account could be suspended.) So my stance is: I’m not going to sell my fics; if you bind for personal use, this doesn’t matter, go for it, live deliciously, etc; if you bind to sell, please be careful and discreet as you can. But you have my OK, for what it’s worth.
Can I translate your fics?
Yes, of course.
Will you write other things, besides Lionheart?
Eventually, yeah. Probably nothing longform soon, however. When I’m writing something, I get engrossed in the world and I sort of tunnel-vision onto the project. When Lionheart goes on a hiatus between books, I may pop out and do something else, just to keep my skills sharp and give my mind a break. That’s where shorter pieces like The Climb and SWLITS came from. But I keep my eyes on the prize, as far as what I’m writing, because I pride myself on having finished most (though admittedly, not all) things I’ve ever started on AO3. I hate having unfinished projects  cluttering up my Works page.
I don’t read WIPs. When will Lionheart be finished/should I read Lionheart?
Listen, I’m not gonna tell anyone how to read fic. If your reading preferences make you happy, then you’re doing it right. And I’ve also been burned by remarkable WIPs that peter out, or die on a cliffhanger, and they just about break my heart. I can’t promise that won’t happen, because I don’t know what life holds in store. I also can’t promise when Lionheart will be finished, because, frankly, I have no idea! As a full-book rewrite, if you look at the current chapter count, and then look at the number of books in the series, then, yeah, it clearly has a long way to go.
But I also know that the Completed Works filter on AO3 is hiding a lot of good fic, and I think people who only read completed stuff are missing out on the real fun of update culture — of reading something serially, the excitement of waiting for the next chapter to drop, looking for clues about long-running puzzles, theorizing in the comments, getting to experience each new hit live. That’s one of the few things about fanfic that you can’t get in a novel, and it’s a real treat. I’d at least give it a try.
Otherwise, here’s what I can tell you: Books 1, 2, 3, and 4 will all be finished. They will have completed endings, and will offer (satisfying, I hope) resolutions to the major conflicts of those stories. And that’s a fact.

Hi! Have you finished your fics first and then published them? Or published as you’ve written them? Also B&E was started so soon after W&H finished, I was wondering how much of B&E had you outlined/plotted/written before/during W&H’s publication. Thanks!! ☺️
hello anon! my process varies a bit, but for the most part i'm not prewriting my fics in entirety before posting them, at least not the novel length ones (though i do usually like to have a decent buffer for stress management purposes).
so for w&h, i wrote and published one chapter at a time and had no plans to expand the world at all when i was initially posting it. when i finished publishing, i didn't have a single thing planned for b&e (or any of the rest of the series either). i then wrote and published bone mortar, sight and seeing, and picked and planted. then i started planning b&e. i had the entire story outlined and about 1/2 of it drafted when i posted the first chapter.
fanfic is a For Fun endeavor for me, and i enjoy the interactivity of the posting process. so i like to post when i have enough of a buffer that i'm not going to feel stressed if i want to have a posting schedule, but i dont want to hang onto everything for so long that i'm just...alone in the creation process. this is all made much easier for me by my Chronic Finisher of Projects Gene and my inability to leave anything unfinished. so posting something before its fully drafted runs a 0% risk of me not finishing it (which is a total valid concern/reason i know a lot of writers like to have everything fully done first!).
thanks for the ask anon! i hope you're having a nice weekend!

A long overdue update regarding my WIPs
So, those of you who have been following my writing probably noticed that I haven’t actually updated anything since... *checks AO3* May 4th. Ouch. I wanted to give everyone an update on why, and where we’re (hopefully) going from here.
First of all, I want to apologize to everyone who has been waiting for updates for months, especially readers of Conversations of a Lion Prince, where I actually tried to keep a consistent schedule (one chapter every Monday night/Thursday morning). I have always been wary of posting unfinished multi-chapter WIPs on AO3 for this exact reason. No-one should have to wait this long between chapters. Truly sorry.
I think what really ruined my writing drive for FE3H fics in particular (both the WIPs I actually have published on AO3 and the ones I haven’t put up yet) is the Warriors game. I haven’t played it, but just its mere existence is enough, and with every bit I learned about it, some more of my writing drive died, mostly because of how my writing/world-building works: I try to stick to canon as closely as possible + I try to keep all my stories within a single franchise somewhat consistent, so that it feels like all of them happened in a single universe, in a single playthrough, if you will. Readers of my Batfam stories know what I mean--I actually organized most of my Arkham Batfam stories into a series for that reason.
So for a new spin-off game to come in with new lore and such, some of which is almost guaranteed to go against the lore I headcanoned based on FE3H canon, to fill in the blanks left by that game, kind of makes my brain go “great--now all the stuff you wrote is invalid, because what *actually* happens in the lore as *actually* shown in the spin-off game is [insert thing that does not match up with what I wrote]”. And I know that’s a ridiculous way to think about it, because fanfiction is explicitly a place for exploring headcanons and different interpretations, but this is just how my brain works. Nothing kills my motivation faster than a spin-off game that invalidates (part of) what I already wrote (which is the same reason why I haven’t updated any of my Darksiders fics in many, many months, and likely won’t until Darksiders Week later this year).
So where does that leave me (and you, my readers) now? Well, I have deliberately kept up with what happens in the lore/storyline of Hopes, because spoilers are inevitable and if I am going to be spoiled, at least I get spoiled on my own terms.  I must be one of the 4 people in the world who are actually HAPPY that the lore in there contradicts FE3H in places, because that’s making it easier for my brain to write off Hopes as “not stuff that we need to be canon-compliant with in our own writing”. That said, I have deliberately avoided almost all of the supports content, because if 3 Hopes has Dimitri supports with people he can’t support in 3 Houses, then I don’t want to see them AT LEAST until I have finished Conversations of the Lion Prince.
So... here’s the new plan:
I’m gonna try to tackle my WIPs one at a time, starting with A Ghost Here Amongst The Living. This one was never supposed to be multi-chapter and only became so because I was 6k words in, with no end in sight, at something like 5 am and I wanted to get at least something out in time for Dimitri’s birthday. Terrible scheduling choice on my part. I will try to get this one done before I get spoiled on the details of how the Lions support Dimitri in Azure Gleam, because the entire point of AGHATL is “how the Lions support Dimitri, and not just Byleth, in the aftermath of Gronder”.
Next up on that WIP list are going to be two unpublished one-shots that I started when playing SS/CF (one where Byleth suffers the logical consequences of losing their powers post CF and one where Byleth decides to take a third option inside the Holy Tomb). These two are actually very dear to my heart, because I started them literally after finishing those very scenes in the game because my brain was just like “we HAVE TO write this”.
After that, I will return to Conversations of the Lion Prince. I started and re-wrote the Bernadetta chapter at least 5 times by now, because on one hand I would like to break from the pattern of “someone does something innocuous > Bernadetta panics > misunderstanding gets cleared up > Bernadetta still panics”, which is so prevalent in her canon supports and which I personally find very, very annoying, but on the other hand... that pretty much IS her character, so not doing it feels like I’m not writing her correctly, and I hate it. This one is a chore to write, ngl.
Finally, I recently got gifted Steam keys for the original versions of Darksiders 1 and 2 (which are no longer available for sale on the Steam store), so I’ll be replaying those two games and aiming to finish 5 Times Mayhem Turned White while playing those.
Once those stories are done, I’ll take stock of what’s still left to do and see where we go from there. I won’t make any promises as to when any of those chapters will be published, as that’s just setting myself up for failure, but I’m hoping to get at least AGHATL finished this month.
Thank you all for your patience! May your own muses be kind and your brains be more co-operative than mine!

What will your next fanfic be about? Are there ones that you have on the back burner?
Lmao it's adorable you think I have this like. Neatly planned and organized that I definitely know what I'm posting next.
I have two kinky erotica one-shots that I have a good amount written for, one JJK Sukufushi pwp and one 5+1 porn-with-plot Elena of Avalor fic (...I started a rewatch and Esteban promptly broke my brain, it's. been a thing). Barring that I bang out something short on tumblr or twitter (like my most recent fic, keep the king) in like an hour, or something else doesn’t unexpectedly overtake my life, one of those will go up next.
For the back burner… oh, god, so many things.
I have three fics planned for next Mermay, two of which are short (a Critical Role M9 fic that will not take much work to finish, and would’ve been done this year if Our Flag Means Death hadn’t seized me by the throat and consumed my life, and a TAZ: Ethersea fic, which I have planned out and I’m just waiting to write out and publish closer to the month). The third is a longform Witcher geraskefer fic that I uhhhhh sort of promised would be published this past May, but then grad school and ofmd happened and it Simply Was Not Finished. But I am very much hoping to get it done for next year.
There are two BNHA fics — one dabihawks, one postcanon future fic that I was writing for Banned Together Bingo and didn't finish in time — that I have a shit ton written for but may or may not ever see the light of day due to starting them before/during the first war arc and now they’re really not canon compliant anymore, and I’d have to do a lot of work to make them a more deliberate canon divergence, and just… idk if it will ever happen. Also because, frankly, ime BNHA fandom sucks to post fic in. Your fic just gets buried in the first ten minutes and I feel like the comments to kudos ratio is particularly bad. So I’d be doing a shit ton of work just for nobody to care about it if I bothered to share it.
I do fully intend to write another TAZ: Balance fic about Lup to turn Without Mercy and Without Blame into a triptych that covers all the birds. I lost part of my drafting for that unfortunately so it's just getting up the energy to rewrite it. Also in the vein of incomplete series, I will not feel done with in the quiet of his mind until I have at least written the forest kiss and "get away"; and I would be absolutely remiss not to do an epistolary Charon/Hermes fic for The Many Layers of Life and Death. None of those things are imminent, but they've been percolating in my head long enough that I think I will eventually get to them, it's just anyone's guess when.
And then there’s the WIPs.
Both The Way You Said I Love You and Written in Sand I have substantial swathes of the rest of the fic written for. For WiS, at this point, I’m waiting until I’ve chipped away and finished the whole fic so that when I finally do come back, I can just post chapters once a week and not go on another years long hiatus. For TWYSILU I’m just blocked on part of this specific chapter and I need to get back to it whenever my brain stops hating me about it. They 10000% are not abandoned and will not be, I am just slow.
I did not. Uh. Intend to post a single chapter of If I’m Not Back Again and immediately stop, but. Life. The current plan for that one is that I’ll write more when Good Omens S2 drops.
And if you go REALLY far back in my Ao3 you’ll find The Green Hunter, which I honestly make zero promises for, that one’s on an “if inspiration strikes” basis.
The only unfinished published fic I have that definitely will not be finished is Long Lost, and even that isn’t abandoned as such — whenever I finish WiS, I want to move over to a significant rewrite of Long Lost to scratch the Voltron itch without being forced to engage with canon. But WiS is the priority.
